We studied the effect of momentum space anisotropy on heavy quarkonium states using an extended magnetized effective fugacity quasiparticle model (EQPM). Both the real and imaginary part of the potential has been modified through the dielectric function by including the anisotropic parameter ξ. The real part of the medium-modified potential becomes more attractive in the presence of the anisotropy and constant magnetic field. The binding energy of the 1S, 2S, and 1P quarkonium states including anisotropy effects for both the oblate and the isotropic case were studied. We find that the binding energy of QQ¯ states becomes stronger in the presence of anisotropy. However, the magnetic field is found to reduce the binding energy. The thermal width of the charmonium and bottomonium 1S states has been studied at constant magnetic field eB=0.3 GeV2 for isotropic and prolate cases. The effect of magnetic field on the mass spectra of the 1P state for the oblate case was also examined. The dissociation temperature for the 1S, 2S, and 1P states of charmonium and bottomonium has been determined to be higher for the oblate case with respect to the isotropic case.

Abstract Brown bear‐mediated conflicts have caused immense economic loss to the local people living across the distribution range. In India, limited knowledge is available on the Himalayan brown bear (HBB), making human–brown bear conflict (HBC) mitigation more challenging. In this study, we studied HBC in the Lahaul valley using a semi‐structured questionnaire survey by interviewing 398 respondents from 37 villages. About 64.8% of respondents reported conflict in two major groups—crop damage (30.6%) and livestock depredations (6.2%), while 28% reported both. In the present work, we have studied the differential scattering cross-section for ground states of charmonium and bottomonium in the frame work of the medium-modified form of quark-antiquark potential and Born approximation using the nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics approach. To reach this end, quasiparticle (QP) Debye mass depending upon baryonic chemical potential (μb) and temperature has been employed, and hence the variation of differential scattering cross-section with baryonic chemical potential and temperature at fixed value of the scattering angle (θ=90o) has been studied. The variation of differential scattering cross-section with scattering angle θ (in degree) at fixed temperature and baryonic chemical potential has also been studied. We have also studied the effect of impact parameter and transverse momentum on differential scattering cross-section at θ=90o.

Introduction. The treatment of long bone shaft nonunions is challenging. The technique of osteoperiosteal decortications flap for approaching the nonunion site coupled with fixation modalities was first described by Judet in 1963. Despite promising clinical and radiological union, this technique is not popular among orthopaedic surgeons. Our study aimed to evaluate the radiological union and functional results of shaft tibia nonunions treated by the osteoperiosteal decortication approach. Methods. This retrospective study included all the cases with established tibial shaft nonunion following stringent inclusion and exclusion criteria and operated upon by following the principle of osteoperiosteal flap technique from April 2015 to July 2019. Further subgroups were made based on nonunions complexity based on nonunion scoring system (NUSS) score. The outcome measures included radiological union scale in tibial fractures (RUST) and lower extremity functional scale (LEFS). The preoperative scores for union and function were recorded, and the subsequent scores were obtained at three, six, and nine months and one year. Appropriate statistical analysis of the data was done. Results. Thirty-four cases were shortlisted for analysis, fulfilling our inclusion and exclusion criteria. There were 22 males (64.7%) and 12 females (35.3%) with a mean age of 34.17 ± 10.3 years. Subgroup analysis based on the complexity of nonunion (NUSS score) revealed 14 cases in group A, 10 cases in group B, 10 cases in group C, and 0 cases in group D. The average time from fracture to surgery in these cases was 14.6 months. The average time to achieve union was 9.6 months, with patients in groups A, B, and C, having a mean duration of 9, 10.5, and 12 months, respectively. Statistically, significant improvement was seen in both RUST scores and LEFS score. Complications included infection in seven cases, wound dehiscence in two cases, and four cases of persistent nonunion. Conclusion. Osteoperiosteal decortication remains a highly effective surgical technique in the management of nonunion of long bones. NUSS scoring is an essential tool for prognosticating nonunion cases. This score is inversely related to the radiological union (RUST score) of the bone and functional recovery (LEFS score) of the patient.

The present article is the follow-up of our work Bottomonium suppression in quasi-particle model, where we have extended the study for charmonium states using quasi-particle model in terms of quasi-gluons and quasi quarks/antiquarks as an equation of state. By employing medium modification to a heavy quark potential thermodynamic observables, viz., pressure, energy density, speed of sound, etc. have been calculated which nicely fit with the lattice equation of state for gluon, massless, and as well massive flavored plasma. For obtaining the thermodynamic observables we employed the debye mass in the quasi particle picture. We extended the quasi-particle model to calculate charmonium suppression in an expanding, dissipative strongly interacting QGP medium (SIQGP). We obtained the suppression pattern for charmonium states with respect to the number of participants at mid-rapidity and compared it with the experimental data (CMS JHEP) and (CMS PAS) at LHC energy (Pb+Pb collisions, sNN = 2.76 TeV).

We have studied the equation of state and dissociation temperature of bottomonium state by correcting the full Cornell potential in isotropic medium by employing the effective fugacity quasi-particle Debye mass. We had also calculated the bottomonium suppression in an expanding, dissipative strongly interacting QGP medium produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Finally we compared our results with experimental data from RHIC 200GeV/nucleon Au-Au collisions, LHC 2.76 TeV/nucleon Pb-Pb, and LHC 5.02 TeV/nucleon Pb-Pb collisions as a function of number of participants.
