Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a common chronic orthopaedic disease in orthopaedics that imposes a heavy economic burden on people and society. Although it is well established that IVDD is associated with genetic susceptibility, ageing and obesity, its pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. Previously, IVDD was thought to occur because of excessive mechanical loading leading to destruction of nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs), but studies have shown that IVDD is a much more complex process associated with inflammation, metabolic factors and NPCs death and can involve all parts of the disc, characterized by causing NPCs death and extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation. The damage pattern of NPCs in IVDD is like that of some programmed cell death, suggesting that IVDD is associated with programmed cell death. Although apoptosis and pyroptosis of NPCs have been studied in IVDD, the pathogenesis of intervertebral disc degeneration can still not be fully elucidated by using only traditional cell death modalities. With increasing research, some new modes of cell death, PANoptosis, ferroptosis and senescence have been found to be closely related to intervertebral disc degeneration. Among these, PANoptosis combines essential elements of pyroptosis, apoptosis and necroptosis to form a highly coordinated and dynamically balanced programmed inflammatory cell death process. Furthermore, we believe that PANoptosis may also crosstalk with pyroptosis and senescence. Fractures and bone nonunion commonly require surgical intervention. Serious outcomes of non‐healing in the late stages of fracture place a significant financial burden on society and families. Bone nonunion occurs when a fracture stops healing, for many reasons, and leads to a variety of bad outcomes. Numerous factors, including biomechanics and immunology, are involved in the complicated mechanisms of bone nonunion. The immune‐inflammatory response plays a significant part in the emergence of bone nonunion, and the occurrence, control, and remission of inflammation in the bone healing process have a significant influence on the ultimate success of bone tissue repair. In the bone microenvironment, immune cells and associated cytokines control bone repair, which is significantly influenced by macrophages, T cells, and fibroblast growth factor. To limit acute inflammation and balance osteogenesis and osteoblastogenesis for tissue repair and regeneration, immune cells and various cytokines in the local microenvironment must be precisely regulated. As a bad complication of late‐stage fractures, bone nonunion has a significant effect on patients' quality of life and socioeconomic development. Therefore, in‐depth research on its pathogenesis and treatment methods has important clinical value. To provide more precise, focused therapeutic options for the treatment of bone nonunion, we discuss the regulatory roles of the key immune cells engaged in bone healing within the microenvironment during bone healing and their effect on osteogenesis. This study aims to elucidate associations among self‐compassion, depression, and suicidal ideation, particularly with respect to gender differences. Using a multigroup cross‐lagged panel model, we conducted a longitudinal evaluation of 424 Chinese adolescents (55.85% boys; Mage = 18.02, SD = 0.73 at baseline). Our findings indicated that suicidal ideation at T1 positively predicted depression 6 months later, while negatively predicted self‐compassion. However, self‐compassion negatively predicted depression 6 months later, specifically in boys, but not in girls. Furthermore, self‐compassion significantly mediated the relationship between suicidal ideation at T1 and depression at T2. This study helps to uncover the underlying relationships between self‐compassion, depression, and suicidal ideation, and also provide a detailed insight into the differential effects of self‐compassion on depression among boys and girls. Objective Background Method Results Conclusion Implications The present study conducted a meta‐analysis to synthesize the associations between sexual minority stress and relationship satisfaction, as well as to examine actor and partner effects.Sexual minority individuals in same‐sex couples experience various distinct and chronic stressors related to their stigmatized identities and romantic relationships, and these stressors negatively impact relationship satisfaction. Although there have been two meta‐analyses that sought to examine these influences, some fundamental questions remain unanswered. In particular, the roles of dyadic processes and different types of sexual minority stressors remain unclear.A comprehensive search identified 67 studies with 147 effect sizes representing 24,542 individuals.The results revealed a significant small association (r = −.100 to −.188) between sexual minority stressors and relationship satisfaction. Internalized stressors were more strongly associated with relationship satisfaction than other types of sexual minority stressors (e.g., prejudice events and concealment). Dyadic analyses demonstrated a significant actor effect of concealment, experiencing prejudice events, and internalized stressors on relationship satisfaction, with the largest effect size for concealment effects.These findings suggest that sexual minority stressors could potentially contribute to same‐sex relational problems. They also underscore the importance of interdependence (both partners' responses as well as their interaction with sexual minority stressors). Mechanical computing has garnered significant interest as a supplement to traditional electronic computing, which often grapples with issues like high power consumption, security vulnerabilities, and susceptibility to extreme environmental conditions such as intense heat and radiation. Yet, most research in mechanical computing has been limited to the ad hoc design of simple logic gates and has not fully achieved the implementation of simple arithmetic computation within an electricity‐free framework. Additionally, progress in environmentally adaptive computing, crucial for decentralized intelligence, has also been slow. New ground is broken with the development of a mechanical transistor that synergizes a Kirigami thermomechanical sensor and a bistable actuator, enabling in‐memory computing for combinational and sequential logic. The design stands out by employing modular construction, symmetry breaking, and nonlinear materials, crafting logic gates, and memory units that respond to environmental stimuli through thermal delay. These transistors integrate design and material intelligence to establish nonvolatile memories, essential for logic‐in‐memory, and align thermal transport with mechanical deformation for environmental responsiveness. Bullying victimization is related to increased aggressive behaviour, but little research considers both self‐ (e.g., nonsuicidal self‐injury; NSSI) and other‐directed (e.g., cyberaggression) outcomes. Moreover, little is known about the mediating mechanisms that underlie this relationship. Based on the General Aggression Model, the current study investigates the mediating roles of Perceived ostracism (PO) and depression in the relationship between bullying victimization and cyberaggression/NSSI among emerging adult. A total of 795 emerging adults (Mage = 19.66 years, SD = 1.46; 59.9% female) completed a multimeasure questionnaire measuring the targeted variables at three time points over one year. Structural equation modelling was used to test temporal mediation. After controlling for gender, age, and family monthly income, bullying victimization was found to positively predict later cyberaggression and NSSI. Mediation analysis revealed that the longitudinal association between bullying victimization and cyberaggression was mediated by PO; the longitudinal association between bullying victimization and NSSI was mediated by depression and was sequentially mediated by PO and depression. These findings extend the theory, prevention and interventions to include both self‐ and other‐directed aggressive behaviour in the bullying context. The CRISPR‐Cas system, initially for DNA‐level gene editing and transcription regulation, has expanded to RNA targeting with the Cas13d family, notably the RfxCas13d. This advancement allows for mRNA targeting with high specificity, particularly after catalytic inactivation, broadening the exploration of translation regulation. This study introduces a CRISPR‐dCas13d‐eIF4G fusion module, combining dCas13d with the eIF4G translation regulatory element, enhancing target mRNA translation levels. This module, using specially designed sgRNAs, selectively boosts protein translation in targeted tissue cells without altering transcription, leading to notable protein expression upregulation. This system is applied to a kidney stone disease model, focusing on ferroptosis‐linked GPX4 gene regulation. By targeting GPX4 with sgRNAs, its protein expression is upregulated in human renal cells and mouse kidney tissue, countering ferroptosis and resisting calcium oxalate‐induced cell damage, hence mitigating stone formation. This study evidences the CRISPR‐dCas13d‐eIF4G system's efficacy in eukaryotic cells, presenting a novel protein translation research approach and potential kidney stone disease treatment advancements. Objective: Lumbar degenerative diseases (LDDs) with huge herniation in the left lateral recess or central canal present challenges for oblique lateral lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) or endoscope‐assisted OLIF procedures. Currently, minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS‐TLIF) is the primary approach for this issue. This study aims to provide a standardized technical description of the anterior lumbar discectomy and fusion (ALDF) and evaluate the medium‐term clinical effectiveness of both ALDF and MIS‐TLIF techniques. Methods: A retrospective review was performed on LDDs who underwent ALDF and MIS‐TLIF surgery from January 2018 to January 2020. The evaluation encompassed various clinical outcomes, such as the visual analogue scale (VAS) scores for back pain and leg pain (VAS‐back, VAS‐leg), the Oswestry disability index (ODI), the 36‐item short‐form health survey mental component summary (SF‐36 MCS), and the physical component summary (SF‐36 PCS). Additionally, radiological parameters, including disc height (DH), segmental disk angle (SDA), lumbar lordosis (LL), and cross‐sectional area (CSA), were assessed. Data including radiculopathy, estimated blood loss, operation time, time of getting out of bed, fusion rate, and complications were recorded. Student's independent samples t test and Pearson's chi‐square test were used to compare the differences between groups. Results: In total, 47 patients were treated by ALDF and 48 patients were treated by MIS‐TLIF. The ALDF group exhibited statistically significant lower estimated blood loss and earlier time of getting out of bed compared to the MIS‐TLIF group (p < 0.05). The ALDF group demonstrated lower VAS‐back scores and a higher remission rate of low back pain 3 years after the surgery (p < 0.05). During the entire follow‐up period, the ALDF group exhibited higher increases in DH and SDA compared to the MIS‐TLIF group (p < 0.05). At 6 months, the fusion rate in the ALDF group was significantly higher than in the MIS‐TLIF group (p < 0.05). The comparison revealed no statistically significant differences in complication rates between the two groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The ALDF could be considered as a viable surgical alternative for the treatment of LDDs that necessitate ventral neural direct decompression. ALDF exhibited favorable medium‐term outcomes in patients with LDDs, displaying advantages in facilitating expedited recovery, enhancing radiographic outcomes, and elevating the remission rate of low back pain. Precise and personalized drug application is crucial in the clinical treatment of complex diseases. Although neural networks offer a new approach to improving drug strategies, their internal structure is difficult to interpret. Here, we propose PBAC (Pathway‐Based Attention Convolution neural network), which integrates a deep learning framework and attention mechanism to address the complex biological pathway information, thereby provide a biology function‐based robust drug responsiveness prediction model. PBAC has four layers: gene‐pathway layer, attention layer, convolution layer and fully connected layer. PBAC improves the performance of predicting drug responsiveness by focusing on important pathways, helping us understand the mechanism of drug action in diseases. We validated the PBAC model using data from four chemotherapy drugs (Bortezomib, Cisplatin, Docetaxel and Paclitaxel) and 11 immunotherapy datasets. In the majority of datasets, PBAC exhibits superior performance compared to traditional machine learning methods and other research approaches (area under curve = 0.81, the area under the precision‐recall curve = 0.73). Using PBAC attention layer output, we identified some pathways as potential core cancer regulators, providing good interpretability for drug treatment prediction. To overcome the high‐risk complications and poor alignment of acetabular components in obese patients associated with direct anterior approach (DAA) for total hip arthroplasty (THA), we innovated an endoscopic arthroplasty via mini‐open direct anterior approach technique (Endo‐DAA). The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes in obese patients subjected to THA between Endo‐DAA, Bikini DAA, and conventional DAA. In this retrospective controlled study, a total of 360 consecutive primary THA on obese patients (body mass index greater than 28 kg/m2) via Endo‐DAA, Bikini DAA, and conventional DAA performed from October 2017 to October 2022 by different surgeons and in a single center were included. Assessments including perioperative parameters, clinical outcomes, complications, and radiologic measurements were retrieved from patients before the surgery, perioperative period and the latest follow‐up. A total of 360 consecutive THA (Endo‐DAA = 108, Bikini DAA = 116, Conventional DAA = 136) with complete follow‐up data were analyzed. Compared to Bikini DAA or conventional DAA, Endo‐DAA significantly shortened the length of incision (5.46 ± 0.53), the duration of operation (64.47 ± 12.38), and postoperative hospital stay (2.15 ± 0.89). Endo‐DAA significantly reduces wound related complications compared with conventional DAA. Besides, Endo‐DAA achieved a significantly better alignment of acetabular components compared to Bikini DAA or conventional DAA. Furthermore, Endo‐DAA improved postoperative pain at the activity at 24 h postoperatively and early functional scores. The Endo‐DAA THA technique provides better short‐term clinical and radiographic results in obese patients with a low rate of postoperative complications compared to Bikini DAA or conventional DAA. Kidney stone, one of the oldest known diseases, has plagued humans for centuries, consistently imposing a heavy burden on patients and healthcare systems worldwide due to their high incidence and recurrence rates. Advancements in endoscopy, imaging, genetics, molecular biology and bioinformatics have led to a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the mechanism behind nephrolithiasis. Kidney stone formation is a complex, multi‐step and long‐term process involving the transformation of stone‐forming salts from free ions into asymptomatic or symptomatic stones influenced by physical, chemical and biological factors. Among the various types of kidney stones observed in clinical practice, calcareous nephrolithiasis is currently the most common and exhibits the most intricate formation mechanism. Extensive research suggests that calcareous nephrolithiasis primarily originates from interstitial subepithelial calcified plaques and/or calcified blockages in the openings of collecting ducts. These calcified plaques and blockages eventually come into contact with urine in the renal pelvis, serving as a nidus for crystal formation and subsequent stone growth. Both pathways of stone formation share similar mechanisms, such as the drive of abnormal urine composition, involvement of oxidative stress and inflammation, and an imbalance of stone inhibitors and promoters. However, they also possess unique characteristics. Hence, this review aims to provide detailed description and present recent discoveries regarding the formation processes of calcareous nephrolithiasis from two distinct birthplaces: renal interstitium and tubule lumen. Background: Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a common chronic disease in orthopedics, and its molecular mechanisms are still not well explained. Aim: This study's objective was to bioinformatics‐based discovery of IVDD biomarkers and immune‐inflammatory infiltrates. Materials and Methods: The IVDD illness gene collection was gathered from GeneCards, DisGeNet, and gene expression profiles were chosen from the extensive Gene Expression Omnibus database (GSE124272, GSE150408, and GSE153761). The STRING database was used to create a network of protein–protein interactions, while the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) databases were used for functional enrichment analysis. Using hub genes, the immune cell infiltration between IVDD patient samples and control tissues was examined. Finally, quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blot experiments were used to verify the expression of hub genes. Results: A total of 27 differentially expressed hub genes were identified by bioinformatics. According to GO and KEGG analyses, hub genes were prominent in immunological responses, chemokine‐mediated signaling pathways, and inflammatory responses, with the key signaling pathways engaged in cellular senescence, apoptosis, Th1 and Th2 cell differentiation, and Th17 cell differentiation. Immune cell infiltration research revealed that T cells, lymphocytes, B cells, and NK cells were decreased in IVDD patients while monocytes, neutrophils, and CD8 T cells were increased. The expression levels of the senescence hub genes SP1, VEGFA, IL‐6, and the apoptosis key gene CASP3 were considerably greater in the IVDD model group than in the control group, according to in vitro validation. Conclusion: In conclusion, the cellular senescence signaling pathway, the apoptosis signaling pathway, and associated hub genes play significant roles in the development and progression of IVDD, this finding may help direct future research on the senescence signaling route in IVDD. Bladder cancer is one of the most common malignant tumours of the urogenital system, with high morbidity and mortality. In most cases, surgery is considered the first choice of treatment, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. However, the 5‐year recurrence rate is still as high as 65% in patients with non‐invasive or in situ tumours and up to 73% in patients with slightly more advanced disease at initial diagnosis. Various treatment methods for bladder cancer have been developed, and hundreds of new immunotherapies are being tested. To date, only a small percentage of people have had success with new treatments, though studies have suggested that the combination of immunotherapy with other therapies improves treatment efficiency and positive outcomes for individuals, with great hopes for the future. Glioblastoma (GBM) is a lethal cancer characterized by hypervascularity and necrosis associated with hypoxia. Here, it is found that hypoxia preferentially induces the actin‐binding protein, Transgelin (TAGLN), in GBM stem cells (GSCs). Mechanistically, TAGLN regulates HIF1α transcription and stabilizes HDAC2 to deacetylate p53 and maintain GSC self‐renewal. To translate these findings into preclinical therapeutic paradigm, it is found that sodium valproate (VPA) is a specific inhibitor of TAGLN/HDAC2 function, with augmented efficacy when combined with natural borneol (NB) in vivo. Climate change is rapidly altering hydrological processes and consequently the structure and functioning of Arctic ecosystems. Predicting how these alterations will shape biogeochemical responses in rivers remains a major challenge. We measured [C]arbon and [N]itrogen concentrations continuously from two Arctic watersheds capturing a wide range of flow conditions to assess understudied event‐scale C and N concentration‐discharge (C‐Q) behavior and post‐event recovery of stoichiometric conditions. The watersheds represent low‐gradient, tundra landscapes typical of the eastern Brooks Range on the North Slope of Alaska and are part of the Arctic Long‐Term Ecological Research sites: the Kuparuk River and Oksrukuyik Creek. In both watersheds, we deployed high‐frequency optical sensors to measure dissolved organic carbon (DOC), nitrate (NO3− ${{\text{NO}}_{3}}^{-}$), and total dissolved nitrogen (TDN) for five consecutive thaw seasons (2017–2021). Our analyses revealed a lag in DOC:NO3− ${{\text{NO}}_{3}}^{-}$ stoichiometric recovery after a hydrologic perturbation: while DOC was consistently elevated after high flows, NO3− ${{\text{NO}}_{3}}^{-}$ diluted during rainfall events and consequently, recovery in post‐event concentration was delayed. Conversely, the co‐enrichment of TDN at high flows, even in watersheds with relatively high N‐demand, represents a potential "leak" of hydrologically available organic N to downstream ecosystems. Our use of high‐frequency, long‐term optical sensors provides an improved method to estimate carbon and nutrient budgets and stoichiometric recovery behavior across event and seasonal timescales, enabling new insights and conceptualizations of a changing Arctic, such as assessing ecosystem disturbance and recovery across multiple timescales. Plain Language Summary: The Arctic is one of the first regions to experience the impacts of climate change and is already experiencing rapid changes to the water cycle, seasonality, and permafrost state. These changes can be expressed in the chemistry observed in a river network, and ecosystem‐scale responses to change are integrated at a watershed outlet. With this study, we leveraged 5 years of high‐frequency data collected from two Arctic headwaters to observe how these watersheds respond to hydrologic disturbance. Overall, we found that at the event‐scale, Arctic rivers are responsive to precipitation events, where carbon (C) increases and reactive nitrogen (N) as nitrate (NO3− ${{\text{NO}}_{3}}^{-}$), is diluted in tandem when a storm event occurs. We also found that after the peak of the storm event, there is a difference in recovery rates for C and N that indicate storm events represent a hydrologic and biogeochemical disturbance. Overall, our findings are important for documenting hydrologic responses to a changing Arctic. Continuous 6‐mercaptopurine (6‐MP) dose titration is necessary because of its narrow therapeutic index and frequently encountered dose‐limiting hematopoietic toxicity. However, evidence‐based guidelines for gene‐based 6‐MP dosing have not been established for Chinese children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). This multicenter, randomized, open‐label, active‐controlled clinical trial randomly assigned Chinese children with low‐ or intermediate‐risk ALL in a 1:1 ratio to receive TPMT–NUDT15 gene–based dosing of 6‐MP (N = 44, 10 to 50 mg/m2/day) or standard dosing (N = 44, 50 mg/m2/day) during maintenance therapy. The primary end point was the incidence of 6‐MP myelosuppression in both groups. Secondary end points included frequencies of 6‐MP hepatotoxicity, duration of myelosuppression and leukopenia, event‐free survival, and steady‐state concentrations of active metabolites (6‐thioguaninenucleotides and 6‐methylmercaptopurine nucleotides) in erythrocytes. A 2.2‐fold decrease in myelosuppression, the primary end point, was observed in the gene‐based–dose group using ~ 50% of the standard initial 6‐MP dose (odds ratio, 0.26, 95% confidence interval, 0.11 to 0.64, P = 0.003). Patients in the gene‐based–dose group had a significantly lower risk of developing thiopurine‐induced myelosuppression and leukopenia (P = 0.015 and P = 0.022, respectively). No significant differences were observed in the secondary end points of the incidence of hepatotoxicity and steady‐state concentrations of active metabolites in erythrocytes between the two groups. TPMT‐ and NUDT15‐based dosing of 6‐MP will significantly contribute toward further reducing the incidence of leukopenia in Chinese children with ALL. Rock mass classification is of great significance in guiding the design and construction of tunnels, which is often determined through single‐factor or multi‐factor classification methods based on some readily available rock indices, for example, dynamic elastic modulus, degree of tectonization, and so forth. Although these methods work reasonably well in some cases, they tend to lead to inaccurate classification results due to the pre‐selected main factor or function forms, especially for tunnels with complex geological conditions. Alternatively, the classification may be achieved with the aid of some machine learning (ML) methods, which are data‐driven, hence bypassing pre‐determination of the mathematical function forms of the main factor(s). Note although these ML methods perform well in the classification of surrounding rock mass, they generally employ all measurements of readily available rock indices as input variables, which might lead to excessive model complexity and a potential decrease in generalization performance. In this paper, a fully Bayesian Gaussian process classification (fB‐GPC) approach is proposed for probabilistic classification of surrounding rock mass, which is data‐driven and can select the optimal combination of main factors that affect rock mass classification. A real‐life example is used to illustrate and validate the proposed approach. Results show that the proposed fB‐GPC method performs very well in determination of the most important factor for classification of surrounding rock mass, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of around 0.98. Objective: This study examined sex and sexual orientation differences in the context of the effects of coping strategies on relationship satisfaction. Background: The sex and sexual orientation differences on the association between coping strategies and relationship satisfaction are not yet fully understood. Method: The participants were 3,805 Belgian individuals who self‐identified as heterosexual (n = 2,024), bisexual (n = 790), or gay/lesbian (n = 991). Results: Results showed that (a) task‐oriented and emotion‐oriented coping was positively and negatively associated with relationship satisfaction, respectively; (b) social diversion–oriented coping was positively associated with relationship satisfaction only among those who identified as heterosexual, gay, or lesbian; and (c) distraction‐oriented coping was positively associated with relationship satisfaction only among those identifying as bisexual. Multiple group tests based on sex within each sexual orientation category confirm that (a) a stronger association was observed between task‐oriented coping and relationship satisfaction for bisexual men compared to bisexual women; (b) the negative association between emotion‐oriented coping and relationship satisfaction is only significant for heterosexual women, and not for bisexual women; and (c) the negative association between distraction‐oriented coping and relationship satisfaction is significant for bisexual women, but not for heterosexual women. Conclusion: This study enhances our comprehension of the variations in the utilization of coping strategies and their effect on relationship satisfaction among individuals based on their sex and sexual orientation. Acute kidney injury (AKI) is common in patients with heart failure (HF), but studies have been inconsistent about the incidence of AKI in patients with HF. We conducted a meta‐analysis to examine the incidence of AKI and its impact on mortality in patients with HF. We also looked at inpatient variables that could predict the development of AKI to identify potential risk factors, so that these can be used as a starting point for intervention and prevention in this group. The Embase, Medline, PubMed, Cochrane libraries, and Web of Science databases were used for searching articles from the inception of the database to October 2022. The EndNote software was used for screening. Meta‐analysis was performed using Stata 16.0 software to combine effect sizes. A total of 37 studies were included. Of all the 3 533 583 patients with HF, 774 887 had AKI, with a pooled incidence of 33% [95% confidence interval (CI): 32–35%]. The incidence rate of AKI in acute HF and chronic HF was 36% (95% CI: 31–40%) and 30% (95% CI: 24–35%), respectively. Eleven studies found that AKI patients had higher in‐hospital mortality than non‐AKI patients [risk ratio (RR): 3.65; 95% CI: 3.04–4.39, P < 0.001]. Mortality was assessed in five studies, and it was found that mortality remained high at 1‐year follow‐up after onset of AKI (RR: 1.85, 95% CI: 1.54–2.22, P < 0.001). Fifteen admission variables were included and analysed in 13 studies. The combined results showed that diabetes, hypertension, history of chronic kidney disease, chronic HF systolic, age, N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide, creatinine > 1.0 mg/dL, index estimated glomerular filtration rate < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2, blood urea nitrogen > 24 mg/dL, intravenous dobutamine, and serum albumin were predictor factors for HF patients with AKI (P < 0.05). In this meta‐analysis, AKI occurred in approximately 33% of HF patients during hospitalization and the risk of dying in the hospital was tripled. Even during 1‐year long‐term follow‐up, the risk of death remained high, and multiple inpatient variables showed that HF patients tended to have AKI. Cyclical change in subduction angle is the favorable mechanism to elucidate the cyclicity of continental arc magmatism, however, the role of episodic tectonics and variation of the lithosphere in overriding plates is much underestimated. Here we focus on structural, magnetic, and gravitational features of the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous granites in the Mesozoic Paleo‐Pacific arc system of the North China block. By unraveling the emplacement process and regional tectonics, we establish a three‐staged extension‐contraction cycle with crustal thickness variation controlling the magmatic flux and behavior. The Late Jurassic extension produced high‐flux crustal‐derived magma (1.87 × 103 km2/Myr), but the thick crust >45 km accumulated large granitic batholiths by multi‐feeders emplacement at the middle‐lower crust and prevented magma ascent and eruption. Subsequently, the Latest Jurassic to Earliest Cretaceous contraction resulted in the magmatic lull and thickened crust of ca. 60 km, fueling crustal material for the ensuing magmatism. In the Early Cretaceous, intense crustal extension thinned the crust to 30 km and largely enhanced the magmatic flux (3.03 × 103 km2/Myr). The magma is prone to penetrate the thin crust with an intensive eruption. A small amount of magma was stored, and the emplacement was controlled by ductile detachments or normal faults. Our model emphasizes episodic the deformation of lithosphere and associated crustal thickness variation in controlling magma production, which may shed new light in understanding the magmatic cyclicity under continuous subduction. Plain Language Summary: The magmatic cycle is key to forecasting volcanic eruption for hazard assessment. On a long‐time scale, the paleo‐magmatic cyclicity including alternating flare‐ups and lulls provides the case to study its driving forces. It is traditionally considered that the magmatic cyclicity is controlled by the subducted plate, however, it fails to explain whether magma erupts or stores, and why it emplaces variably in the different cycles. Taking the Late Mesozoic North China block as an example, we highlight that the overriding plate that experiences episodic variations of crustal deformation and crustal thickness plays an important role in the magmatic cyclicity. When the crustal thickness of the overriding plate was more than 45 km at the Late Jurassic, magma is prone to storage than eruption, and multi‐pulsed magma emplacement is predominated under this extensional regime. Afterward, the Latest Jurassic‐Earliest Cretaceous crustal shortening and thickening (ca. 60 km) prevent magma formation. When the crust thinned to 30 km during the Early Cretaceous, the magma was able to rise to the upper crust, and even to erupt. Light intensity is a determinant for submerged macrophytes. Little is known about their molecular responses to low‐light exposure, despite more informative and responsive than morphological traits. For erect‐type submerged macrophytes, the stem is more crucial relative to the leaf in acclimation to low‐light stress, but receives less attention. We determined morphological and stem transcriptomic responses/acclimations of Hydrilla verticillata to extremely and mildly low light (7.2 and 36 μmol photons m−2 s−1, respectively), that is, EL and ML, with the radiation intensity of 180 μmol photons m−2 s−1 as the control. Low‐light exposure continued for 9 days, followed by a 7‐day recovery phase (180 μmol photons m−2 s−1). At the exposure phase, the low‐light treatments, in particular the EL, decreased the relative growth ratio, but induced greater height and longer stem internode distance and epidermal cell. Such responses/acclimations continued into the recovery phase, despite more or less changes in the magnitude. Transcriptome showed that the photosynthetic system was inhibited at the exposure phase, but the macrophyte adjusted hormone synthesis relating to cell division and elongation. Moreover, the EL activated cell stress responses such as DNA repair. Following light recovery, the macrophyte exhibited a strong‐light response, although energy metabolism enhanced. Especially, the EL enriched the pathways relating to anthocyanin synthesis at such phase, indicating an activation of photoprotective mechanism. Our findings suggest that negative influences of low light occur at both low‐light exposure and recovery phases, but submerged macrophytes would acclimate to light environments. Transcriptome can show molecular basis of plant responses/acclimations, including but not limited to morphology. Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a chronic joint bone disease characterized by inflammatory destruction and hyperplasia of bone. Its main clinical symptoms are joint mobility difficulties and pain, severe cases can lead to limb paralysis, which poses major pressure to the quality of life and mental health of patients, but also brings serious economic burden to society. The occurrence and development of KOA is influenced by many factors, including systemic factors and local factors. Osteoporotic fracture is a major health problem plaguing the ageing society, and improving its treatment is an urgent challenge. How to ameliorate bone loss determines the recovery of such fractures. Extracellular vesicle (EV)‐loaded hydrogel has the capacity to treat osteoporotic fractures due to its pro‐osteogenic property. And balancing proliferation and maturation of osteoblast precursors (OBPs) is of great significance to avoid OBP depletion, which is lacking in current treatment. Based on osteoblastogenic miRNAs, this study aimed to explore the efficacies of the combination of hierarchical hydrogel and EVs altering functional miRNAs level in bone loss. Through bioinformatics analyses, we screened out proliferative gene‐targeting miR‐200b‐3p and osteogenic gene‐targeting miR‐130b‐3p. And antagomiR‐200b‐3p (ant‐200b) enhanced OBP proliferation, and antagomiR‐130b‐3p (ant‐130b) promoted OBP differentiation. After confirming the directional effect of Fibronectin (Fn1) on OBPs, we prepared OBP‐targeting EVs. Furthermore, encapsulation of two antagomiRNAs in EVs enhanced the respective effect of ant‐200b and ant‐130b. Notably, hierarchically injectable hydrogel exerted an effective function in promoting the sequential delivery of EVs‐200b and EVs‐130b. Importantly, hierarchical hydrogel containing dual EVs effectively ameliorated bone loss. Background: Delayed treatment leads to increased mortality in critically ill patients with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA). We aimed to develop and validate a prediction score based on novel biomarkers and clinical risk factors to identify IPA in immunocompetent patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: A retrospective study was conducted to collect medical information and novel biomarkers upon ICU admission. Risk factors adopted for the final prediction score were identified using multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results: We retrospectively collected 1841 critical ill patients between January 2018 and August 2022. Patients with IPA had higher C‐reactive protein‐to‐albumin ratio (CAR), neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio, systemic immune‐inflammation index and lower prognostic nutritional index (PNI). Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), high dose of corticosteroids, broad‐spectrum antibiotics, blood galactomannan (GM) positivity and high CAR were independent risk factors for IPA and were entered into the final prediction score. The score had good discrimination, with the area under receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.816 and 0.780 for the training and validation cohorts, respectively, and good calibration. Conclusion: A score based on six clinical and novel immunological biomarkers showed promising predictive value for antifungal treatment in immunocompetent ICU patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Infant‐type hemispheric glioma, a new subtype of pediatric high‐grade glioma, arises in the cerebral hemispheres. Despite better survival outcomes, the treatment of infant‐type hemispheric glioma is still facing challenges. Here, we reported a case of QKI‐ALK fusion, infant‐type hemispheric glioma with lung metastasis who achieved a complete clinical response after lorlatinib treatment. This typical case demonstrated the importance of appropriate molecularly targeted treatments in ALK‐fused tumors, and lorlatinib may serve as an effective complement to conventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy in primary glioma harboring ALK fusions and its metastasis. Accurate measurements of soil respiration (Rs) are critical for understanding how soil carbon will respond to environmental changes. However, a commonly used method for Rs measurements, the collar deployment method, may introduce artefacts that cause bias in Rs measurements. Our objective was to quantify the effect of long‐term collar deployment on Rs and to unravel potential causes due to changes in the soil environment.A field experiment (2017–2019) including short‐term (2–3 days before the measurement) and long‐term collar deployment (lasting three consecutive growing seasons) was conducted to assess the methodological effect on Rs in an alpine grassland of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. Soil incubation was used to further explore the mechanisms underlying the effects of collar deployment.The effect of long‐term collar deployment on Rs varied over time. In the first one and a half growing seasons, no significant difference in Rs was noted under short‐ and long‐term collar deployment. This may be attributed to the negative effects of lower root biomass inside long‐term collars and the positive effects of higher temperature and pulse input of dead roots following collar deployment. Under the long‐term collar, Rs decreased rapidly in the middle of the second growing season and remained low until the end of the experiment, resulting in an 18.2% decrease relative to short‐term collar deployment in the third growing season. Higher soil bulk density and lower root and microbial biomass inside long‐term collars may explain the decrease in Rs and temperature sensitivity (Q10). Soil incubation experiments revealed that the soil organic carbon (SOC) decomposition rate and Q10 were significantly reduced after long‐term collar deployment.Long‐term collars led to substantial underestimates of Rs after more than 2 years. Our findings suggest that such potential artefacts should be considered when interpreting Rs data based on long‐term collar deployment. Long‐term collars should be relocated every 1–2 years to avoid artefacts if feasible. The objective of this study was to explore the carbohydrate contents of crop milk, insulin and glucose concentrations in serum and the expression patterns of AMP‐activated protein kinases (AMPKs) and genes related to glucose metabolism in pigeon crops during the breeding period. Crop milk was collected from squabs of rearing Day 1 (R1) to R6. Contents of total sugar and reducing sugar increased to the maximum levels at R6 (p < 0.05). Forty‐two pairs of adult pigeons were allotted to seven groups by different breeding stages, and their crops and serum were sampled. No significant differences were found in either insulin or glucose levels in serum. The glucose transporter 2 gene level was the greatest at R15 in females, whereas it was at R7 in males. However, sodium‐dependent glucose transporters 1 expression in both sexes decreased from incubation Day 17 (I17) to R7. In females, glucokinase expression peaked at R1, and at R1 and R7 in males. Pyruvate kinase mRNA levels peaked at R7 in females and at R15 males. The mRNA abundance of fructose‐1,6‐bisphosphatase 1 in both sexes and glucose‐6‐phosphatase in females decreased after I10. While phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase 1 expression decreased after I17 (p < 0.05). Protein levels of AMPKα in crops were minimized at R1 (p < 0.05). In females, expression of AMPKα1 and AMPKα2 was inhibited at I17 and R1 (p < 0.05). In males, AMPKα1 expression was decreased at R7 (p < 0.05) and AMPKα2 was reduced at I10 and R1. pAMPK expression was the lowest at I17 in females, and it was at R7 and R25 in males. Conclusively, glycolysis in pigeon crops was enhanced during chick‐rearing, while gluconeogenesis was significantly inhibited. Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is the pathological basis of disc herniation, spinal stenosis, and other related diseases, and the lower back pain it produces lays a heavy financial burden on individuals and society. Thus, it is essential to comprehend IVDD's pathophysiology. Numerous factors, such as inflammatory factors, oxidative stress, apoptosis, matrix metalloproteinases, are linked to IVDD pathogenesis. Despite the fact that many researches has provided explanations for the pathophysiology of IVDD, these studies are typically singular, restricted, and isolated, expound only on one or two components, and do not systematically analyze and summarize the numerous influencing elements. In addition, we discovered that the incidence of many chronic diseases in the field of orthopedics may be thoroughly and systematically defined in terms of immunological systems. In order to provide a theoretical foundation for an in‐depth understanding of the pathological process of IVDD and the formulation of more effective prevention and treatment measures, this review provides a comprehensive and systematic account of the pathogenesis of IVDD from the physical to the molecular barriers of the intervertebral disc, from the nucleus pulposus tissue to the cellular to the immune‐molecular level. Background: Ultra‐high field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has obvious advantages in acquiring high‐resolution images. 7 T MRI has been clinically approved and 21.1 T MRI has also been tested on rodents. Purpose: To examine the effects of ultra‐high field on mice behavior and neuron activity. Study Type: Prospective, animal model. Animal Model: Ninety‐eight healthy C57BL/6 mice and 18 depression model mice. Field Strength: 11.1–33.0 T SMF (static magnetic field) for 1 hour and 7 T for 8 hours. Gradients were not on and no imaging sequence was used. Assessment: Open field test, elevated plus maze, three‐chambered social test, Morris water maze, tail suspension test, sucrose preference test, blood routine, biochemistry examinations, enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay, immunofluorescent assay. Statistical Tests: The normality of the data was assessed by Shapiro–Wilk test, followed by Student's t test or the Mann–Whitney U test for statistical significance. The statistical cut‐off line is P < 0.05. Results: Compared to the sham group, healthy C57/6 mice spent more time in the center area (35.12 ± 4.034, increased by 47.19%) in open field test and improved novel index (0.6201 ± 0.02522, increased by 16.76%) in three‐chambered social test a few weeks after 1 hour 11.1–33.0 T SMF exposure. 7 T SMF exposure for 8 hours alleviated the depression state of depression mice, including less immobile time in tail suspension test (58.32% reduction) and higher sucrose preference (increased by 8.80%). Brain tissue analysis shows that 11.1–33.0 T and 7 T SMFs can increase oxytocin by 164.65% and 36.03%, respectively. Moreover, the c‐Fos level in hippocampus region was increased by 14.79%. Data Conclusion: 11.1–33.0 T SMFs exposure for 1 hour or 7 T SMF exposure for 8 hours did not have detrimental effects on healthy or depressed mice. Gene fusions are one of the most common genomic alterations in soft tissue sarcomas (STS), which contain more than 70 subtypes. In this study, a custom‐designed RNA sequencing panel including 67 genes was developed and validated to identify gene fusions in STS. In total, 92 STS samples were analyzed using the RNA panel and 95.7% (88/92) successfully passed all the quality control parameters. Fusion transcripts were detected in 60.2% (53/88) of samples, including three novel fusions (MEG3–PLAG1, SH3BP1–NTRK1, and RPSAP52–HMGA2). The panel demonstrated excellent analytic accuracy, with 93.9% sensitivity and 100% specificity. The intra‐assay, inter‐assay, and personnel consistencies were all 100.0% in four samples and three replicates. In addition, different variants of ESWR1–FLI, COL1A1–PDGFB, NAB2–STAT6, and SS18–SSX were also identified in the corresponding subtypes of STS. In combination with histological and molecular diagnosis, 14.8% (13/88) patients finally changed preliminary histology‐based classification. Collectively, this RNA panel developed in our study shows excellent performance on RNA from formalin‐fixed, paraffin‐embedded samples and can complement DNA‐based assay, thereby facilitating precise diagnosis and novel fusion detection. Background: The breakthrough of immunotherapy has revolutionized the treatment of non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, only a limited part of patients could derive clinical benefits. To study how immune microenvironment (IME) of patients could influence the therapeutic efficacy of immunotherapy, we evaluated the response patterns of NSCLC patients treated with PD‐1 inhibitors and analyzed the molecules related to prognosis and efficacy of immunotherapy. Methods: Tumor samples were collected from 47 NSCLC patients treated with PD‐1 inhibitors. RNA expressions of tumor immune‐related 289 genes were analyzed using NanoString nCounter. Immune infiltration and correlation between clinical information and expression of immune‐related genes were assessed. Results: Unsupervised clustering analysis revealed two groups infiltrated with different immune cells and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) including CXCL5, CXCL9, IDO1, and LAG3 were found between groups. Stratification based on DEGs indicated that the group with high expression of CXCL5 was characterized by neutrophils. Univariate and multivariate Cox analysis further demonstrated that CXCL5 mRNA expression was positively associated with worse progression free survival (PFS). Logistic analyses indicated high CXCL5 was associated with worse response to immunotherapy. Conclusions: CXCL5 may be a potential biomarker for prognosis and responsiveness to immunotherapy and may be a novel preventive and therapeutic target for NSCLC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An highly electrochemically active surface area and the efficient carrier transfer between catalysts and their carriers are the basis of an efficient hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, petal‐like Ni (OH)2 nanosheets with tunable size and thickness, which represent controllable electrocatalytically active areas, are directly grown on conductive Ni foam. As a result, the optimized in situ‐grown Ni (OH)2 nanosheets (NSNs) show optimum HER performance and stability compared to step‐by‐step‐grown NSNs with similar surface areas due to the enhanced carrier transfer efficiency. The in situ NSNs show high HER activity with overpotentials of 187 and 137 mV with respective current densities of 20 and 10 mA cm−2 in alkaline solution. Lowering cost will prompt the sustainable development of sugarcane‐based ethanol industry. In this work, we developed a low‐cost process for ethanol production from sugarcane by a genetically engineered Zymomonas mobilis. Fermentation media were first optimized, resulting in a 15.54% increase in ethanol fermentation efficiency as compared to control media. To further reduce the byproduct levan formation, a levansucrase‐encoding gene of Z. mobilis, sacB, was deleted through the type I‐F CRISPR‐Cas system, which resulted in a further elevation of both ethanol conversion ratio and productivity comparing with the starting strain ZMS912 (87.50% vs. 76.77%, 1.95 g/L/h vs. 1.71 g/L/h). Moreover, we conducted fed‐batch fermentation for ethanol production using sugarcane juice in 5 L bioreactors and employing the optimized media and engineered strain. The results showed that maximum ethanol titer of 81.59 g/L and productivity of 5.83 g/L/h were achieved. Finally, preliminary techno‐economic assessment demonstrated that our efforts to modify media and strain could reduce the processing cost of ethanol production from sugarcane juice, which provides the feasibility for economic ethanol production in the future. The benefit of postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) for pT1‐2N1M0 breast cancer patients currently remains controversial. This study was conducted to investigate whether pT1‐2N1M0 breast cancer patients could benefit from PMRT based on RecurIndex assay. The clinical data of 213 pT1‐2N1M0 breast cancer patients were retrospectively analyzed. Through RecurIndex assay, 81 cases were assessed as the low risk, and 132 as the high risk. Compared to low‐risk patients, high‐risk patients especially those not receiving PMRT had a significantly increased risk of recurrence and metastasis, and worse 7‐year local‐regional recurrence‐free interval (LRFI), distance recurrence‐free interval (DRFI) and recurrence‐free survival (RFS) rates. PMRT‐based subgroup analysis indicated no significant differences between the low‐risk patients with and without PMRT in 7‐year LRFI, DRFI, RFS and overall survival (OS) rates, but apparent differences were all shown between the high‐risk patients with and without PMRT in 7‐year LRFI, DRFI, RFS and OS rates. Overall, for pT1‐2N1M0 breast cancer patients at low risk of recurrence and metastasis stratified by RecurIndex assay, there may be a phenomenon of no PMRT benefits, while for those at high risk, use of PMRT may produce survival benefits. The results show that RecurIndex can potentially stratify pT1‐2N1M0 breast cancer patients into low‐ and high‐risk groups for recurrence and metastasis. While there was little evidence that post‐mastectomy radiotherapy is beneficial in low‐risk patients, post‐mastectomy radiotherapy may produce survival benefits in high‐risk pT1‐2N1M0 breast cancer patients. Although tremor is believed to consist of myriad low‐frequency earthquakes (LFEs), it also contains longer‐period signals of unknown origin. We investigate the source of some of the longer‐period signals by locating tremor windows independently in relatively high‐frequency ("HF", 1.25–6.5 Hz, containing typical LFEs) and low‐frequency ("LF", 0.5–1.25 Hz) bands. We hypothesize that if tremor consists entirely of LFEs, such that the lower‐frequency signals come from the non‐uniform timing of higher‐frequency (∼2 Hz) LFEs, then contemporaneous LF and HF signals should be nearly co‐located. Here we search for a systematic offset between the locations of contemporaneous LF and HF detections during rapid tremor migrations (RTMs). This first requires correcting for apparent offsets in location that arise simply from filtering in different passbands. To guard against possible errors in our empirical filtering effect corrections, we focus on a region of the subduction interface beneath southern Vancouver Island that hosts migrations propagating in nearly opposing directions. We find that the LF energy appears to occur roughly 500 m farther behind the propagating fronts of RTMs than the HF energy, whether those fronts propagate to the ENE or to the WSW. This separation is small compared to the location error of individual LF detections, but the result seems robust owing to the large number of detections. If this result stands, it suggests that tremor consists of more than just a collection of LFEs, with longer‐period energy being generated farther behind the migrating fronts of RTMs, where slip speeds are presumably lower. It typically occurs in bursts of activity that correspond to "rapid tremor migrations". Tremor contains myriad, sometimes impulsive arrivals termed low‐frequency earthquakes (LFEs), but it also contains longer‐period signals whose origin is debated. Investigating these longer‐duration signals is hampered by their generally low signal‐to‐noise ratio, mostly due to the presence of the Earth's microseismic noise band from ∼0.1–1 Hz. We find that beneath southern Vancouver Island the signal‐to‐noise ratio is often high enough to locate tremor in both the typical frequency band used for tremor and LFEs (≳2 Hz) and within the upper end of the microseismic band (down to 0.5 Hz). In this study we show that the lower‐frequency signals appear to locate farther behind the propagating fronts of rapid tremor migrations, by about 500 m, than the higher‐frequency signals containing typical LFEs. This spatial offset suggests that the longer‐period signal in tremor does not arise simply from the clustering in time and space of more familiar higher‐frequency LFEs. It also suggests that the same portion of the fault might produce energy of different frequencies at different times, depending upon the loading conditions. Thermally triggered active metamaterials with shape memory polymers (SMPs) show greater potential for structural applications with reconfigurability than other programmable structures owing to their temporally stiff condition with shape locking. However, most SMP‐based active metamaterials have not shown complex transformation, such as multi‐modal and asymmetric deformations, because of the lack of an adaptable strategy with reasonable mechanics models. Moreover, conventional SMP has a critical drawback – irreversible transformability, limiting its reconfigurability for active metamaterials. Herein, a thermomechanical tool that allows a single material system to transform with reversible, multi‐modal, and asymmetric deformations is constructed and demonstrated. Using transformation aids (TAs), a localized pre‐stress and a temperature‐dependent reverse stiffness effect to exchange energy with a lattice is conceived. The deformation of a single SMP system whose energy is swapped from TAs by localized pre‐stress and reverse stiffness can transform into reversible, multi‐modal, and asymmetric deformations with shape‐locking. The methods can be used for reconfigurable structures, tuning symmetry, and chirality, especially for active acoustic metamaterials, deployable devices, and biomedical devices. The mechanics‐inspired design approach of local deformation of TA and the interaction with the temperature‐dependent stiffness drop of the lattice open an avenue to the robust design of thermally triggered active metamaterials. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of 7 T and higher can provide superior image resolution and capability. Clinical tests have been performed in 9.4 T MRI, and 21.1 T small‐bore‐size MRI has also been tested in rodents. Although the safety issue is a prerequisite for their future medical application, there are very few relevant studies for the safety of static magnetic fields (SMFs) of ≧20 T. The aim of this study was to assess the biological effects of 7.0–33.0 T SMFs in healthy adult mice. This was a prospective study, in which 104 healthy adult C57BL/6 mice were divided into control, sham control, and 7.0–33.0 T SMF‐exposed groups.The sham control group and SMF group were handled identically, except for the electric current for producing SMF. A separate control group was placed outside the magnet and their data were used as normal range. After 1 h exposure, all mice were routinely fed for another 2 months while their body weight and food/water consumption were monitored. After 2 months, their complete blood count, blood biochemistry, key organ weight, and histomorphology were examined. All data are normally distributed. Differences between the sham and SMF‐exposed groups were evaluated by unpaired t test. Most indicators did not show statistically significant changes or were still within the normal ranges, with only a few exceptions. For example, mono % in Group 2 (11.1 T) is 6.03 ± 1.43% while the normal range is 6.60–9.90% (p < 0.05). The cholesterol level in 33 T group is 3.38 ± 0.36 mmol/L while the normal range is 2.48–3.29 mmol/L (p < 0.05). The high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol level in 33 T group is 2.54 ± 0.29 mmol/L while the normal reference range is 1.89–2.43 mmol/L (p < 0.01). Discarded aluminum alloys are a form of recyclable metal materials, and their classification and identification are highly important. In this work, laser‐induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technique combined with principal component analysis (PCA) and least‐squares support‐vector machine (LSSVM) algorithm were used to classify and identify five types of aluminum alloys. Exploratory analysis of five types of aluminum alloys by PCA was performed to achieve better segregation. The identification accuracy of the support‐vector machine (SVM) and LSSVM for aluminum alloy were 98.33% and 100%, respectively. The higher identification success rate was obtained using the LSSVM algorithm. Therefore, the LIBS technique combined with the PCA and LSSVM algorithms represents an efficient approach to identifying aluminum alloys. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the development and pervasiveness of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Software‐Defined Networks (SDN) technology has been deployed to bring great convenience to network transmission. However, SDN over IoT network still faces many challenges on devices data security. Our work demonstrates a novel attack of SDN networks, named Network Harvesting (NH). In NH, an attacker has the ability to steal the users' network privileges without the awareness of victims and the switchers. Furthermore, to solve the above attack, we construct a detection scheme and a defense scheme, named RSDetector and SpoofDefender. RSDetector detects the presence of rogue switches in the network by leveraging the prediction power of machine learning. At the same time, SpoofDefender prevents a number of spoofing attacks including NH by the global control of the SDN networks. In addition, RSDetector and SpoofDefender are also evaluated on ONOS 1.10.4 and Mininet. Vinegar residue (VR), a major by‐product in the vinegar brewing process, is generated at least three million tons annually in China. Currently major part of the disposal of VR is fulfilled by landfill and incineration, however, serious environment pollution along with such processes is a challenging issue. Anaerobic digestion (AD) can provide benefits of environment and renewable methane generation, which seems to be a reasonable alternative to traditional treatment. Noticeably, total solids (TS) is an important influential parameter to AD performance. Therefore, VR was evaluated for methane production and associated kinetic characteristics during the liquid‐state AD (LS‐AD) and solid‐state AD (SS‐AD) in this study. The results indicated that the highest specific methane yield of 194.8 mL gVS−1 and volumetric methane yield of 9.4 Lmethane Lreactor volume−1 were achieved in LS‐AD (TS = 10%) and SS‐AD (TS = 20%), respectively. The kinetic analysis showed a higher specific methane production rate for LS‐AD than SS‐AD, while volumetric methane production rate presented a reverse trend. This study provides useful guidance for the sustainable utilization of VR while contributes to environmental protection and alleviates the dependence on fossil fuels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In ecological meta‐analyses, nonindependence among observed effect sizes from the same source paper is common. If not accounted for, nonindependence can seriously undermine inferences. We compared the performance of four meta‐analysis methods that attempt to address such nonindependence and the standard random‐effect model that ignores nonindependence. We simulated data with various types of within‐paper nonindependence, and assessed the standard deviation of the estimated mean effect size and Type I error rate of each method. Although all four methods performed substantially better than the standard random‐effects model that assumes independence, there were differences in performance among the methods. A two‐step method that first summarizes the multiple observed effect sizes per paper using a weighted mean and then analyzes the reduced data in a standard random‐effects model, and a robust variance estimation method performed consistently well. A hierarchical model with both random paper and study effects gave precise estimates but had a higher Type I error rates, possibly reflecting limitations of currently available meta‐analysis software. Overall, we advocate the use of the two‐step method with a weighted paper mean and the robust variance estimation method as reliable ways to handle within‐paper nonindependence in ecological meta‐analyses. Metaphosphorous acid (HOPO), a key intermediate in phosphorus chemistry, has been generated in syn‐ and anti‐conformations in the gas phase by high‐vacuum flash pyrolysis (HVFP) of a molecular precursor ethoxyphosphinidene oxide (EtOPO→C2H4+HOPO) at ca. 1000 K and subsequently trapped in an N2‐matrix at 2.8 K. Unlike the two conformers of the nitrogen analogue HONO, the anti‐conformer of HOPO undergoes spontaneous rotamerization at 2.8 K via hydrogen‐atom tunneling (HAT) with noticeable kinetic isotope effects for H/D (>104 for DOPO) and 16O/18O (1.19 for H18OPO and 1.06 for HOP18O) in N2‐matrices.
