The accurate prediction of radio wave propagation along highways plays an important role in the design of high‐speed highway communication systems. The open‐confined mixed space is a connection zone between the open space and confined tunnel along the highway. A hybrid propagation model is presented based on ray‐tracing (RT) and waveguide theory, for the efficient modelling of open‐confined mixed space. The proposed model employs RT to predict radio waves emitted by sources with arbitrary radiation patterns in open space sections, and utilises the waveguide theory approach to accelerate the prediction process in the confined tunnel sections. Both two‐ray and six‐ray RT models are included to take into account the suburban and urban environments. Numerical results are compared with simulated results generated by RT as well as experimental measurements. The microvascular network plays an important role in providing nutrients to the injured tissue and exchanging various metabolites. However, how to achieve efficient penetration of the injured tissue is an important bottleneck restricting the reconstruction of microvascular network. Herein, the hydrogel precursor solution can efficiently penetrate the damaged tissue area, and ultrasound triggers the release of thrombin from liposomes in the solution to hydrolyze fibrinogen, forming a fibrin solid hydrogel network in situ with calcium ions and transglutaminase as catalysts, effectively solving the penetration impedance bottleneck of damaged tissues and ultimately significantly promoting the formation of microvascular networks within tissues. First, the fibrinogen complex solution is effectively permeated into the injured tissue. Second, ultrasound triggered the release of calcium ions and thrombin, activates transglutaminase, and hydrolyzes fibrinogen. Third, fibrin monomers are catalyzed to form fibrin hydrogels in situ in the damaged tissue area. In vitro studies have shown that the fibrinogen complex solution effectively penetrated the artificial bone tissue within 15 s after ultrasonic triggering, and formed a hydrogel after continuous triggering for 30 s. Overall, this innovative strategy effectively solved the problem of penetration resistance of ultrasound‐triggered hydrogels in the injured tissues, and finally activates in situ microvascular networks regeneration. Tobacco black shank (TBS) and tobacco root black rot (TRBR) are two of the most devastating tobacco soil‐borne diseases that threaten sustainable tobacco planting. This study investigated the effects of Trichoderma sp. and a resistance inducer (RI) extracted from traditional Chinese medicine, individually or in combination, on the control of TBS and TRBR. The results showed that the application of Trichoderma sp. and RI, individually or in combination, significantly controlled the two soil‐borne diseases by significantly affecting the bacterial, but not fungal, Shannon and Simpson diversity indexes. The disease indexes of TBS and TRBR in integrated application management were the lowest, resulting in the highest potassium contents in the tobacco leaves. The control efficacies of TBS and TRBR in the integrated application treatment were 71.52 ± 1.43% and 68.33 ± 0.69%, respectively. The integrated treatment altered the composition of the rhizosphere soil microbial community. The bacterial community, but not the fungal community, of the control treatment was separated from those of other treatments. The relative abundance of bacteria involved in chemoheterotrophy and fermentation in the control treatment increased, whereas that of bacteria involved in nitrification and aerobic ammonia oxidation decreased compared with the other treatments. Importantly, the application of Trichoderma sp. and RI, individually or in combination, clearly increased the relative abundance of saprotrophic fungi in contrast to the control treatment, while decreasing that of pathotrophic fungi. Our study suggests that a suitable integrated application of bioagents and RI has synergistic effects on the suppression of two tobacco soil‐borne diseases by altering the rhizosphere microbiome composition in the field. The effective management of osteomyelitis remains extremely challenging due to the difficulty associated with treating bone defects, the high probability of recurrence, the requirement of secondary surgery or multiple surgeries, and the difficulty in eradicating infections caused by methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Hence, smart biodegradable biomaterials that provide effective and precise local anti‐infection effects and can promote the repair of bone defects are actively being developed. Here, a novel nano‐micro composite is fabricated by combining calcium phosphate (CaP) nanosheets with drug‐loaded GelMA microspheres via microfluidic technology. The microspheres are covalently linked with vancomycin (Van) through an oligonucleotide (oligo) linker using an EDC/NHS carboxyl activator. Accordingly, a smart nano‐micro composite called "CaP@MS‐Oligo‐Van" is synthesized. The porous CaP@MS‐Oligo‐Van composites can target and capture bacteria. They can also release Van in response to the presence of bacterial micrococcal nuclease and Ca2+, exerting additional antibacterial effects and inhibiting the inflammatory response. Finally, the released CaP nanosheets can promote bone tissue repair. Overall, the findings show that a rapid, targeted drug release system based on CaP@MS‐Oligo‐Van can effectively target bone tissue infections. Accumulation of vimentin is the core event in epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT). Post‐translational modifications have been widely reported to play crucial roles in imparting different properties and functions to vimentin. Here, a novel modification of vimentin, acetylated at Lys104 (vimentin‐K104Ac) is identified, which is stable in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cells. Mechanistically, NACHT, LRR, and PYD domain‐containing protein 11 (NLRP11), a regulator of the inflammatory response, bind to vimentin and promote vimentin‐K104Ac expression, which is highly expressed in the early stages of LUAD and frequently appears in vimentin‐positive LUAD tissues. In addition, it is observed that an acetyltransferase, lysine acetyltransferase 7 (KAT7), which binds to NLRP11 and vimentin, directly mediates the acetylation of vimentin at Lys104 and that the cytoplasmic localization of KAT7 can be induced by NLRP11. Malignant promotion mediated by transfection with vimentin‐K104Q is noticeably greater than that mediated by transfection with vimentin‐WT. Further, suppressing the effects of NLRP11 and KAT7 on vimentin noticeably inhibited the malignant behavior of vimentin‐positive LUAD in vivo and in vitro. In summary, these findings have established a relationship between inflammation and EMT, which is reflected via KAT7‐mediated acetylation of vimentin at Lys104 dependent on NLRP11. Background and Objectives: High levels of deoxynivalenol (DON) contamination in foods can raise health risks for enterohepatic diseases. Here we report our investigation into the trichothecenes (DON, 3‐acetyl‐deoxynivalenol, 15‐acetyl‐deoxynivalenol), zearalenone (ZEA) and nivalenol (NIV) showing in the wheats‐processed noodles in Shandong, China (2019–2020). Findings: The noodles contamination status of DON in Shandong was closed to that in China in the past 10 years: 4663.9 µg/kg at maximum level, and a range of 57.9–618.8 µg/kg by mean. However, the average levels of DON measured in the noodle samples varied largely by city. Highest levels of DON contamination were found in Binzhou: 709.09 (58.8–3220) µg/kg and Weihai: 684.79 (27.6–3850) µg/kg, respectively. Besides, NIV contamination were averagely 46.99 µg/kg in Binzhou, and ZEA contamination up to 31.4 µg/kg in Weihai, pose an increasing threat of liver/intestine inflammation associated with dietary exposure. Conclusions: The DON contamination status of noodles in Shandong was consistent with our previous investigation in wheats and in recent 10 years in China, that increased health risks for enterohepatic diseases. Accurate radio wave prediction models are necessary for the innovation of mobile communication technology and the deployment of wireless sensor networks in railways. The parabolic wave equation (PWE) method is one commonly used method to predict the electromagnetic characteristic of long railway tunnels. However, the advent of novel antennas and technologies (e.g., beam steering, beamforming) has posed new challenges to PWE‐based models such as effective means of taking tilted beam patterns into account. This study addresses such a challenge by using tilted Gaussian beams to embed antennas with oriented patterns or tilted beam directions into PWE‐based models. The proposed approach does not reduce the simulation efficiency of PWE itself. The hypothesis of microscopic hot spots is widely used to explain the unique microwave (MW) effect in materials science and chemical engineering, but it has not yet been directly measured. Herein we use Eu/Tb mixed‐metal organic complexes as nano thermometers to probe the intrinsic temperature of MW‐absorbing particles in MW fields based on the thermosensitive fluorescent spectra. According to the measurements of the temperature gradient at the solid/liquid interphase, we derive an MW‐irradiated energy transfer model to predict the extent of microscopic hot spots. The fluorescence results agree with the model predictions that the MW‐induced temperature gradient can be enlarged by increasing MW intensity, as well as the dielectric loss and size of particles. Conversely, the increase in the thermal conductivity and the dielectric loss of the liquid lowers the temperature gradient. In this research, we firstly explored the role of the microbiome combined with transcriptomics and proteomics in pure ground-glass opacity (pGGO) (<1 cm) development by 16S rRNA gene sequencing technology (Figure S1), and demonstrated the pGGO microbiome features in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients. And from our study, it suggested that Oxalobacteraceae may display the ability to modulate the tumour microenvironment by influencing the core immune/inflammation-related genes, thus having an impact on pGGO development. Microfluidic hydrogel microspheres have been broadly studied across a wide range of industries and applications, and their use in the medical field, including control cells and drug delivery, is increasing. The usual design of these materials is intended to enable the efficient and smart encapsulation of cells and/or drugs in microspheres in which the functionalities and features are effectively controlled, lending itself some unique properties. These characteristics promote exchanges and cooperation in multiple disciplines and boost the development of precision medicine, new manufacturing technologies, and applied materials. This review begins with a discussion of microfluidic hydrogel microspheres and then introduces the preparation equipment, main principles, and related characteristics of the microspheres. Furthermore, the medical applications of microfluidic hydrogel microspheres for delivering cells and drugs are emphasized. Finally, this review discusses perspectives and future directions for accelerating the development and application of microfluidic hydrogel microspheres for controlled delivery. Trapped ancient microorganisms in halite fluid inclusions are of special interest to the understanding of biology and ecology in salt lake systems. With the integration of petrologic, microthermometric, and Raman spectroscopic analyses, this study utilizes fluid inclusions from Chaka Salt Lake, eastern Qaidam Basin, NW China, to assess the possibility of microorganism‐trapping by fluid inclusions. Here, we report that the solid phase of some primary fluid inclusions contains carotenoids, which is interpreted as evidence of Dunaliella algae, and that the coexisting liquid phase comprises SO42‐. The homogenization temperatures of single‐phase primary fluid inclusions indicate that the precipitation temperature of the Holocene halite in Chaka Salt Lake ranges from 13.5°C to 36.4°C. This suggests that fluid inclusions in halite are a good medium for trapping and preserving ancient microorganisms and organic matter in salt lakes, and that Raman spectroscopy has good potential to identify halophilic archaea. Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is an invariably common complication of diabetes, characterized by delayed wound healing process and increased inflammation. Evidence has indicated that paeoniflorin exerts an anti‐inflammatory effect in diabetic retinopathy. The current work was aimed to investigate the effect of paeoniflorin on inflammation and wound healing in DFU. DFU rat models by streptozotocin and skin biopsy punch, as well as high glucose‐treated human immortalized keratinocytes (HaCaT) were established. Levels of blood glucose, wound contraction and proinflammatory cytokine were detected after paeoniflorin administration. Several essential targets associated with the NF‐κB and Nod‐like receptor protein‐3 (NLRP3) signaling pathways were examined. Results showed markedly down‐regulation of interleukin (IL)‐1β, IL‐18 and tumor necrosis factor‐alpha in paeoniflorin‐treated DFU rats. Paeoniflorin decreased the expression levels of chemokine receptor CXCR2, nuclear NF‐κB and p‐IκB (Ser36), as well as increased IκB level. Histological analysis and immunostaining showed lower inflammatory cells with decreased NLRP3 and cleaved caspase‐1 levels following paeoniflorin treatment. Further in vitro evidence confirmed that paeoniflorin efficiently inhibited NLRP3 and NF‐κB‐mediated inflammation in DFU by inhibiting CXCR2. These findings are suggestive of greatly attenuated wound inflammation and better wound healing in paeoniflorin‐treated DFU rats. Abnormal DNA methylation persists throughout carcinogenesis and cancer development. Hence, gene promoter methylation may act as a prognostic tool and provide new potential therapeutic targets for patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). In this study, to explore prognostic methylation signature, data regarding DNA methylation and RNA‐seq, and clinical data of patients with LUAD from the Cancer Genome Atlas database (TCGA) were downloaded. After data preprocessing, the methylation data were divided into training (N = 405) and test sets (N = 62). Then, patients in the training set were assigned to five subgroups based on their different methylation levels using the consensus clustering method. We comprehensively analyzed the survival information, methylation levels, and clinical variables, including American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) stage, tumor‐node‐metastasis (TNM) staging, age, smoking history, and gender of these five groups. Subsequently, we identified a 16‐CpG prognostic signature and constructed a prognostic model, which was verified in the test set. Further analyses showed stable prognostic performance in the stratified cohorts. In conclusion, the new predictive DNA methylation signature proposed in this study may be used as an independent biomarker to assess the overall survival of LUAD patients and provide bioinformatics information for development of targeted therapy. Objectives: To compare the clinical outcomes of plate fixation and arthroscopic‐assisted plate fixation in patients with displaced isolated medium‐sized fractures of the greater tuberosity. Methods: From July 2013 to October 2017, patients with displaced isolated medium‐sized fractures of the greater tuberosity who underwent arthroscopic‐assisted plate fixation (ASPF group) or open reduction and internal plate fixation (ORIF group) were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. There were 19 patients in the ASPF group and 27 patients in the ORIF group, with comparable demographic characteristics. The average age of patients was 49.4 ± 12.1 years in the ASPF group and 46.9 ± 11.4 years in the ORIF group. The shoulder function reflected by the Constant–Murley (CS) scores, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) scores, and the range of motion (ROM) in the both groups at the last follow‐up were analyzed in the study. Surgery time, postoperative pain, and postoperative complications were also reviewed. Results: A total of 46 eligible patients were included in this study. The mean follow‐up was similar for the ASPF (19.4 ± 3.7 months) and the ORIF (18.2 ± 3.2 months) groups (P = 0.372). All patients had achieved primary incision healing in both groups at the last follow‐up. The surgery time was 96.8 ± 11.7 min and 64.2 ± 8.3 min in the ASPF group and the ORIF group, respectively (P < 0.01). All the CS scores (P = 0.278), ASES scores (P = 0.426), and ROM were slightly better in the ASPF group than in the ORIF group, but they did not attain significant differences. In addition, there was no significant difference in the postoperative complication rate between the ASPF group (10.5%) and the ORIF group (18.5%) (P = 0.522). In the ASPF group, there was only one patient with postoperative shoulder stiffness and one case of fracture malunion. In the ORIF group, there were two cases of postoperative shoulder stiffness, two cases of fracture malunoin, and one case of subacromial impingement. Other major postoperative complications, such as fracture nonunion, pullout of the suture anchor, and screw penetration, were not observed in either group. Conclusion: Arthroscopic‐assisted plate fixation is effective and may be an alternative in the treatment of displaced isolated medium‐sized fractures of the greater tuberosity. A Gaussian process regression (GPR) with active learning is proposed for developing the solar irradiance point and interval forecasting models, which consider the spatial‐temporal information collected from a targeted site and a number of neighbouring sites. To enhance the performance of the GPR‐based model an active learning process is developed for constructing an ad‐hoc input feature set, selecting training data points, and optimising hyper‐parameters of GPR models. To validate the advantages of the proposed method, a comprehensive computational study is conducted based on solar irradiance data collected from the northwest California area. In the point forecasting, the proposed method beats the state‐of‐the‐art benchmarking methods including classical statistical models and data‐driven models according to values of the normalised root mean squared error, normalised mean absolute error, normalised mean bias error, and coefficient of determination. In the interval forecasting, the proposed method outperforms the persistence model, autoregressive model with exogenous inputs, generic GPR, as well as two recently reported forecasting methods, the bootstrap‐based extreme learning machine and quantile regression, in terms of the forecasting reliability. Magnesium (Mg) alloys are promising candidates for use as biomedical implant materials. However, their very fast degradation rate greatly restricts their application. A rare earth phase possessed with a long‐period stacking‐ordered (LPSO) structure was in favor of enhancing the degradation resistance of Mg alloys. In fact, the formation of the LPSO phase in Mg alloys depends on their stacking fault energy. The lower the stacking fault energy, the more the LPSO phase formed. In this study, manganese (Mn) was alloyed to Mg alloy ZK30–10Gd (containing 3 wt.% Zn and 10 wt.% Gd) via selective laser melting to promote the formation of the LPSO phase. As an alloying element, Mn could be in favor of reducing stacking fault energy due to the fact that the large difference between the atomic radius of Mn and that of Mg induced large lattice distortion to facilitate forming stacking faults. The results showed that as the Mn content increased from 0 to 1.2 wt.%, the area fraction of LPSO phase increased from 12.22% to 22.37%, meanwhile the area fraction of (Mg,Zn)3Gd phase decreased from 9.31% to 2.32%. The ZK30–10Gd–0.6Mn possessed the highest degradation resistance (weight loss rate 0.38 mg · cm−2 · day−1). The enhancement of degradation resistance had two reasons. On the one hand, more LPSO phase provided more sites for nucleation of degradation products, which could promote the formation of a homogeneous and compact degradation product film to protect the Mg matrix. On the other hand, the inhibition of (Mg,Zn)3Gd phase precipitation could reduce galvanic corrosion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Poly‐l‐lactic acid (PLLA) is considered as a potential bone scaffold material because of good biocompatibility and bioabsorbability, whereas too slow degradation rate limits its application. In this study, montmorillonite (MMT) was introduced into PLLA scaffolds fabricated via selective laser sintering to accelerate degradation by reducing crystallinity. To be specific, MMT was a layered silicate with large surface area and aspect ratio, which provided nucleation site for the crystallization of PLLA molecular chain along their surface during the sintering process. As the surface of MMT plate was randomly oriented in the matrix, the growth direction of crystallite was also random, which interrupted the orderly crystallization, thus decreasing the overall crystallinity of PLLA. As a result, the crystallinity of PLLA scaffolds was decreased from 32.3% to 27.4% when introducing 4.5% MMT. Accordingly, weight loss was increased from 0.83% to 7.25% after immersing for 4 weeks. Besides, the tensile strength and modulus of the scaffolds increased by 44.1% and 66.9% because of the change of fracture mode from brittle fracture to ductile fracture. To solve the problems of the traditional packings, such as high pressure drop, mal‐distribution and short liquid residence time, a helical flow structured packings was proposed. Two different flow patterns, liquid‐bridge flow and liquid‐drop flow were identified when the width of the channel of the helical string was adjusted. Moreover, the characteristics of the helical liquid‐bridge flow including maximum liquid loading, mean thickness of liquid film, mean residence time and effective specific surface area, were examined. And the separation efficiency was studied by the lab‐scale distillation column. Abstract: This work extensively investigated global tight sandstone gas, and geologically and geochemically analyzed the tight sandstone gas in China's Ordos, Sichuan, and Tarim basins. We compared typical tight sandstone gas in China with that in North America. We proposed six conditions for the formation of China's tight sandstone gas, and illustrated the geological characteristics of tight sandstone gas. In China, gas‐bearing tight sandstones were mainly deposited in continental lake deltas and marine‐terrigenous facies basin environments, associated with coal‐measure strata, and were mostly buried deeper than 2000 m under a formation pressure of 20–30 MPa, with pressure coefficients varying from overpressure to negative pressure. In other countries, tight gas bearing sandstones were dominantly deposited in marine to marine‐terrigenous facies environments, occurred in coal‐measure strata, and were mostly buried shallower than 2000 m in low‐pressure systems. We systematically analyzed tight sandstone gas in the Ordos, Sichuan, and Tarim basins in terms of chemical compositions, geochemical characteristics of carbon isotopes, origins, and sources. Tight sandstone gas in China usually has a hydrocarbon content of >95%, with CH41 content >90%, and a generally higher dry coefficient. In the three above‐mentioned large tight sandstone gas regions, δ13C1 and δ13C2 mainly ranges from –42‰ to –28‰ and from –28‰ to –21‰, respectively. Type III coal‐measure source rocks that closely coexist with tight reservoirs are developed extensively in these gas regions. The organic petrology of source rocks and the carbon isotope compositions of gas indicate that tight sandstone gas in China is dominantly coal‐derived gas generated by coal‐measure strata. Our analysis of carbon isotope series shows that local isotope reversals are mainly caused by the mixing of gases of different maturities and that were generated at different stages. With increasing maturity, the reversal tendency becomes more apparent. Moreover, natural gas with medium‐low maturity (e.g., Xujiahe Formation natural gas in the Sichuan Basin) presents an apparent reversal at a low‐maturity stage, a normal series at a medium ‐maturity stage, and a reversal tendency again at a high‐maturity stage. Finally, we proposed four conditions for preferred tight sandstone gas “sweep spots,” and illustrated the recoverable reserves, proven reserves, production, and exploration prospects of tight sandstone gas. The geological and geochemical characteristics, origins, sources, and exploration potential of tight sandstone gas in China from our research will be instructive for the future evaluation, prediction, and exploration of tight sandstone gas in China and abroad. Six sorghum varieties containing different amylose were selected to investigate the structural and physicochemical characteristics of starches and endosperm texture of grains. The results showed that the outer layer endosperm of sorghum grain changed from waxy to corneous, and its starch granules were more compactly packed and exhibited the spindle‐shaped holes with the increase of amylose content. Higher amylose starch granules exhibited fewer and smaller micropores on the surface and were more likely to deform and agglomerate into larger amorphous particles after heated. Amylose content of sorghum starches was negatively correlated to granule size, relative crystallinity, and the proportion of the long branch chains (DP = 25–36 and > 36), whereas positively correlated to the proportion of the short branch chains (DP = 6–12 and 13–24). Amylose content had negative correlations with To, Tp, ΔH, PV, and SDS (p < .05), positive corrections with FV, SB, and RDS (p < .05), and no correlations with Tc, HPV, BD, and RS.
