Concurrent superconductivity and negative photoconductivity (NPC) are rarely observed. Here, the discovery in PbSe 0.5 Te 0.5 of superconductivity and photoconductivity transitions between positive photoconductivity (PPC) and NPC during compression is reported to ≈40 GPa and subsequent decompression, which are also accompanied by reversible structure transitions (3D Fm 3 ¯ ${{\bar{3}}}$ m ⇌ 2D Pnma ⇌ 3D Pm 3 ¯ ${{\bar{3}}}$ m). Superconductivity with a maximum T c of ≈6.7 K coincides with NPC and structure transition of Pnma to Pm 3 ¯ ${{\bar{3}}}$ m at ≈18 GPa and the latter phase is preserved down to ≈5 GPa with enhanced T c of ≈6.9 K during decompression. The observations imply the simultaneous superconducting and photoconductive transitions are closely related to the metallic Pm 3 ¯ ${{\bar{3}}}$ m phase. First-principles calculations suggest the enhanced p-p hybridization and charge transfer between Pb-5p and ligand-p orbitals near the Fermi surface play key roles in electron-phonon interaction of mediating the Cooper pairs in PbSe 0.5 Te 0.5 . Hall coefficient measurements reveal that photothermal effect enhances electron-phonon interplay, which decreases carrier concentration and mobility and results in the reversal of PPC-NPC. Structure-dependent superconductivity and NPC are jointly mediated by electron-phonon interplay, which is tunable through illumination or cooling at high-pressure. With the development of optical anti-counterfeiting and the increasing demand for high-level information encryption, multimodal luminescence (MML) materials attract much attention. However, the discovery of these multifunctional materials is very accidental, and the versatile host suitable for developing such materials remains unclear. Here, a grossite-type fast ionic conductor CaGa 4 O 7 , characterized by layered and tunnel structure with excellent defect tolerance, is found to meet the needs of various luminescent processes. Almost all luminescent modes, including down/up-conversion luminescence (DCL/UCL), long persistent luminescence (LPL), mechanoluminescence (ML), and X-ray excited optical luminescence (XEOL), are realized in this single host. Full-spectrum (from violet to near-infrared) photoluminescence and ML as well as multicolor XEOL are achieved by simply changing the doped luminescent center. A series of anti-counterfeiting devices, including the quasi-dynamic display of famous paintings, digital information encryption, and multi-color handwritten signatures, are designed to show the encryption of information in temporal and spatial dimensions. Liquid exfoliation is a scalable and effective method for synthesizing 2D nanosheets (NSs) but often induces contamination and defects. Here, liquid metal gallium (Ga) is used to exfoliate bulk layered materials into 2D NSs at near room temperature, utilizing the liquid surface tension and Ga intercalation to disrupt Van der Waals (vdW) forces. In addition, the process can transform the 2H-phase of transition metal dichalcogenides into the 1T'-phase under ambient conditions. This method produces high aspect ratio, surfactant-free 2D-NSs for more than 10 types of 2D materials that include h-BN, graphene, MoTe 2 , MoSe 2 , layered minerals, etc. The subsequent Ga separation via ethanol dispersion avoids the formation of additional defects and surfactant contamination. By adjusting initial defect levels of the layered materials, customize the metallicity and/or defectiveness of 2D NSs can be customized for applications such as birefringence-tunable modulators with exfoliated h-BN, and enhanced hydrogen evolution with defective MoS 2 . Self-healing materials have been extensively explored in metal anti-corrosion fields. However, improving the self-healing efficiency remains a significant work that severely limits their further development. Here, a strategy to fabricate anti-corrosion coatings with efficient self-healing properties based on microfluidic electrospinning technologies and UV-curable healing agents is reported. The damaged composite coating contains core-shell nanofibers that can be completely healed within only 30 min, indicating an outstanding healing efficiency. The corrosion current density (I corr ) of the composite coatings containing core-shell nanofibers (abbreviated as composite coatings) is lower than the coatings without any fibers (abbreviated as pure resin coatings) during the test of repeated damage and healing cycles, showing superior resistance to corrosion and repeated self-healing property. The composite coating has even better mechanical properties such as tensile strength, bending strength, and impact strength than the pure resin coating, which are explained by simulating the deformation process. These excellent properties greatly improve the practicability of self-healing coatings in the application of anti-corrosion, especially in some special fields., (© 2024 The Author(s). Non-volatile photomemory based on photomodulated luminescent materials offers unique advantages over voltage-driven memory, including low residual crosstalk and high storage speed. However, conventional materials have thus far been volatile and insecure for data storage because of low trap depth and single-level storage channels. Therefore, the development of a novel non-volatile multilevel storage medium for data encryption remains a challenge. Herein, a robust, non-volatile, multilevel optical storage medium is reported, based on a photomodulated Ba 3 MgSi 2 O 8 :Eu 3+ , which combined the merits of light-induced valence (Eu 3+ → Eu 2+ ) and photochromic phenomena using optical stimulation effects, accompanied by larger luminescent and color contrasts (>90%). These two unique features provided dual-level storage channels in a single host, significantly improving the data storage security. Notably, dual-level optical signals could be written and erased simultaneously by alternating 265 and 365 nm light stimuli. Theoretical calculations indicated that robust color centers induced by intrinsic interstitial Mg and vacancy defects with suitable trap depths enable excellent reversibility and long-term storage capability. By relying on different luminescent readout mechanisms, the encrypted dual-level information can be accurately decrypted by separately probing the Eu 2+ and Eu 3+ signals, thus ensuring information security. Mechanoluminescence (ML)-based sensors are emerging as promising wearable devices, attracting attention for their self-powered visualization of mechanical stimuli. However, challenges such as weak brightness, high activation threshold, and intermittent signal output have hindered their development. Here, a mechanoluminescent/electric dual-mode strain sensor is presented that offers enhanced ML sensing and reliable electrical sensing simultaneously. The strain sensor is fabricated via an optimized dip-coating method, featuring a sandwich structure with a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) interlayer and two polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)/ZnS:Cu luminescence layers. The integral mechanical reinforcement framework provided by the SWNT interlayer improves the ML intensity of the SWNT/PDMS/ZnS:Cu composite film. Compared to conventional nanoparticle fillers, the ML intensity is enhanced nearly tenfold with a trace amount of SWNT (only 0.01 wt.%). In addition, the excellent electrical conductivity of SWNT forms a conductive network, ensuring continuous and stable electrical sensing. These strain sensors enable comprehensive and precise monitoring of human behavior through both electrical (relative resistance change) and optical (ML intensity) methods, paving the way for the development of advanced visual sensing and smart wearable electronics in the future., (© 2024 Wiley‐VCH GmbH.)

Mechanoluminescent materials have broad application prospects in advanced displays, stress imaging, and anti-counterfeiting owing to their ability to convert mechanical stimuli into light. However, most previous studies have focused on the visible and near-infrared regions. Although natural ultraviolet C (UVC) light is nearly absent on the Earth's surface, it plays an important role in many fields. Therefore, the development of smart materials capable of emitting UVC mechanoluminescence (ML) and expanding the application scenarios of UVC ML are significant but challenging. Here the ML property of Sr 2 P 2 O 7 :Pr 3+ is examined, which stems from the 5d→4f transition of Pr 3+ and is located over the UVC region. The peak wavelength of the UVC ML of Sr 2 P 2 O 7 :Pr 3+ is ≈230 nm, which is, to the best of this knowledge, the shortest ML wavelength reported to date. It is further demonstrated that the UVC ML of Sr 2 P 2 O 7 :Pr 3+ is associated with trapped charge carriers and can be conveniently regulated by adjusting the X-ray excitation time. Relying on this unique characteristic, the potential of the UVC ML of Sr 2 P 2 O 7 :Pr 3+ as an indicator of the X-ray radiation dose is demonstrated. Although quasi-2D Ruddlesden‒Popper (RP) perovskite exhibits advantages in stability, their photovoltaic performance are still inferior to 3D counterparts. Optimizing the buried interface of RP perovskite and suppress energetic losses can be a promising approach for enhancing efficiency and stability of inverted quasi-2D RP perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Among which, constructing polymer hole-transporting materials (HTMs) with defect passivation functions is of great significance for buried-interface engineering of inverted quasi-2D RP PSCs. Herein, by employing side-chain tailoring strategy to extend the π-conjugation and regulate functionality of side-chain groups, target polymer HTMs (PVCz-ThSMeTPA and PVCz-ThOMeTPA) with high mobility and multisite passivation functions are achieved. The presence of more sulfur atom-containing groups in side-chain endows PVCz-ThSMeTPA with increased intra/intermolecular interaction, appropriate energy level, and enhanced buried interfacial interactions with quasi-2D RP perovskite. The hole mobility of PVCz-ThSMeTPA is up to 9.20 × 10 -4 cm 2 V -1 S -1 . Furthermore, PVCz-ThSMeTPA as multifunctional polymer HTM with multiple chemical anchor sites for buried-interface engineering of quasi-2D PSCs can enable effective charge extraction, defects passivation, and perovskite crystallization modulation. Eventually, the PVCz-ThSMeTPA-based inverted quasi-2D PSC achieves a champion power conversion efficiency of 22.37%, which represents one of the highest power conversion efficiencies reported to date for quasi-2D RP PSCs., (© 2024 The Author(s). Near-infrared (NIR) light is promising for bioimaging and information technology due to its high penetration ability and resistance to interference with environmental radiation. Here, a new class of lanthanide-doped SrZnOSe crystals are developed for the self-sustainable generation of NIR emissions under mechanical excitation. It is shown that the SrZnOSe crystals render ≈5-fold stronger NIR emissions than the well-established CaZnOS due to the low phonon energies of the selenide host, as confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. The potential utility of the crystals is demonstrated by integration with a mouthguard, which can generate bright NIR emissions by bite force to transmit encrypted optical signals through thick tissues (up to 8 mm) in ambient environments. The synergistic effect of apoptosis and cuproptosis, along with the activation of the immune system, presents a promising approach to enhance the efficacy against triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Here, two prodrugs are synthesized: a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive prodrug PEG-TK-DOX and a glutathione (GSH)-responsive prodrug PEG-DTPA-SS-CPT. These prodrugs are self-assembled and chelated Cu 2+ to prepare nanoparticle PCD@Cu that simultaneously loaded doxorubicin (DOX), camptothecin (CPT), and Cu 2+ . The elevated levels of ROS and GSH in TNBC cells disrupted the PCD@Cu structure, leading to the release of Cu + , DOX, and CPT and the depletion of GSH. DOX and CPT triggered apoptosis with immunogenic cell death (ICD) in TNBC cells. Simultaneously, PCD@Cu downregulated the expression of copper transporting ATPase 2 (ATP7B), causing a significant accumulation of copper ions in TNBC cells. This further induced the aggregation of lipoylated dihydrolipoamide S-acetyltransferase (DLAT) and downregulation of iron-sulfur (Fe-S) cluster proteins, ultimately leading to cuproptosis and ICD in TNBC. In vitro and in vivo experiments confirmed that PCD@Cu induced apoptosis and cuproptosis in TNBC and activated the immune system, demonstrating strong anti-tumor capabilities. The inhibition of Nav1.7 is a promising strategy for the development of analgesic treatments. Spider venom-derived peptide toxins are recognized as significant sources of Nav1.7 inhibitors. However, their development has been impeded by limited selectivity. In this study, eight peptide toxins from three distinct spider venom Nav channel families demonstrated robust inhibition of hNav1.7, rKv4.2, and rKv4.3 (rKv4.2/4.3) currents, exhibiting a similar mode of action. The analysis of structure and function relationship revealed a significant overlap in the pharmacophore responsible for inhibiting hNav1.7 and rKv4.2 by HNTX-III, although Lys25 seems to play a more pivotal role in the inhibition of rKv4.2/4.3. Pharmacophore-guided rational design is employed for the development of an mGpTx1 analogue, mGpTx1-SA, which retains its inhibition of hNav1.7 while significantly reducing its inhibition of rKv4.2/4.3 and eliminating cardiotoxicity. Moreover, mGpTx1-SA demonstrates potent analgesic effects in both inflammatory and neuropathic pain models, accompanied by an improved in vivo safety profile. The results suggest that off-target inhibition of rKv4.2/4.3 by specific spider peptide toxins targeting hNav1.7 may arise from a conserved binding motif. This insight promises to facilitate the design of hNav1.7-specific analgesics, aimed at minimizing rKv4.2/4.3 inhibition and associated toxicity, thereby enhancing their suitability for therapeutic applications., (© 2024 The Author(s). Distinct types of luminescence that are activated by various stimuli in a single material offer exciting developmental opportunities for functional materials. A versatile sensing platform that exhibits photoluminescence (PL), persistent luminescence (PersL), and mechanoluminescence (ML) is introduced, which enables the sensitive detection of temperature, pressure, and force/stress. The developed Sr 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :Eu 2+ /Dy 3+ material exhibits a linear relationship between ML intensity and force and can be used as an ML stress sensor. Additionally, the bandwidth of the PL emission band and the PL lifetime of this material are remarkably sensitive to temperature, with values of ≈0.05 nm K -1 and 1.29%/K, respectively. This study demonstrates PersL pressure sensing for the first time, using long-lasting (seconds) lifetime as a manometric parameter. The developed material functions as an exceptionally sensitive triple-mode visual pressure sensor; specifically, it exhibits: i) a sensitivity of ≈-297.4 cm GPa -1 (8.11 nm GPa -1 ) in bandshift mode, ii) a sensitivity of ≈272.7 cm -1 /GPa (14.8 nm GPa -1 ) in bandwidth mode, and iii) a sensitivity of 42%GPa -1 in PL-lifetime mode, which is the highest value reported to date. Notably, anti-counterfeiting, night-vision safety-sign, 8-bit optical-coding, and QR-code applications that exhibit intense PersL are demonstrated by 3D-printing the studied material in combination with a polymer., (© 2024 The Author(s). 3D carbon-based porous sponges are recognized for significant potential in oil absorption and electromagnetic interference (EMI). However, their widespread application is hindered by a common compromise between high performance and affordability of mass production. Herein, a novel approach is introduced that involves laser-assisted micro-zone heating melt-blown spinning (LMHMS) to address this challenge by creating pitch-based submicron carbon fibers (PSCFs) sponge with 3D interconnected structures. These structures bestow the resulting sponge exceptional characteristics including low density (≈20 mg cm -3 ), high porosity (≈99%), remarkable compressibility (80% maximum strain), and superior conductivity (≈628 S m -1 ). The resultant PSCF sponges realize an oil/organic solvent sorption capacity over 56 g/g and possess remarkable regenerated ability. In addition to their effectiveness in cleaning up oil/organic solvent spills, they also demonstrated strong electromagnetic shielding capabilities, with a total shielding effectiveness (SE) exceeding 60 dB across the X-band GHz range. In virtue of extreme lightweight of ≈20 mg cm -3 , the specific SE of the PSCF sponge reaches as high as ≈1466 dB cm 3  g -1 , surpassing the performance of numerous carbon-based porous structures. Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses and is a well-known risk factor for suicide, characterized by low overall efficacy (<50%) and high relapse rate (40%). A rapid and objective approach for screening and prognosis of depression is highly desirable but still awaits further development. Herein, a high-performance metabolite-based assay to aid the diagnosis and therapeutic evaluation of depression by developing a vacancy-engineered cobalt oxide (Vo-Co 3 O 4 ) assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometer platform is presented. The easy-prepared nanoparticles with optimal vacancy achieve a considerable signal enhancement, characterized by favorable charge transfer and increased photothermal conversion. The optimized Vo-Co 3 O 4 allows for a direct and robust record of plasma metabolic fingerprints (PMFs). Through machine learning of PMFs, high-performance depression diagnosis is achieved, with the areas under the curve (AUC) of 0.941-0.980 and an accuracy of over 92%. Furthermore, a simplified diagnostic panel for depression is established, with a desirable AUC value of 0.933. Finally, proline levels are quantified in a follow-up cohort of depressive patients, highlighting the potential of metabolite quantification in the therapeutic evaluation of depression. Elastico-mechanoluminescence technology has shown significant application prospects in stress sensing, artificial skin, remote interaction, and other research areas. Its progress mainly lies in realizing stress visualization and 2D or even 3D stress-sensing effects using a passive sensing mode. However, the widespread promotion of mechanoluminescence (ML) technology is hindered by issues such as high stress or strain thresholds and a single sensing mode based on luminous intensity. In this study, a highly efficient green-emitting ML with dual-mode stress-sensing characteristics driven by microscale strain is developed using LiTaO 3 :Tb 3+ . In addition to single-mode sensing based on the luminous intensity, the self-defined parameter (Q) is also introduced as a dual-mode factor for sensing the stress velocity. Impressively, the fabricated LiTaO 3 :Tb 3+ film is capable of generating discernible ML signals even when supplied with strains as low as 500 µst. This is the current minimum strain value that can drive green-emitting ML. Nanoconfinement within enzymes can increase reaction rate and improve selectivity under mild conditions. However, it remains a great challenge to achieve chemical reactions imitating enzymes with directional molecular motion, short reaction time, ≈100% conversion, and chiral conversion in artificial nanoconfined systems. Here, directional flow ring-opening reactions of styrene oxide and alcohols are demonstrated with ≈100% conversion in <120 s at 22 °C using graphene oxide membrane nanoreactors. Dominant products have the same configuration as chiral styrene oxide in confined reactions, which is dramatically opposed to bulk reactions. The unique chiral conversion mechanism is caused by spatial confinement, limiting the inversion of benzylic chiral carbon. Moreover, the enantiomeric excess of same-configuration products increased with higher alkyl charge in confined reactions. This work provides a new route to achieve rapid flow ring-opening reactions with specific chiral conversion within 2D nanoconfined channels, and insights into the impact of nanoconfinement on ring-opening reaction mechanisms., (© 2024 The Authors. Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) with ultra-high energy density (2600 W h kg -1 ) and readily available raw materials are emerging as a potential alternative device with low cost for lithium-ion batteries. However, the insulation of sulfur and the unavoidable shuttle effect leads to slow reaction kinetics of LSBs, which in turn cause various roadblocks including poor rate capability, inferior cycling stability, and low coulombic efficiency. The most effective way to solve the issues mentioned above is to rationally design and control the synthesis of the cathode host for LSBs. Transition metal phosphides (TMPs) with good electrical conductivity and dual adsorption-conversion capabilities for polysulfide (PS) are regarded as promising cathode hosts for new-generation LSBs. In this review, the main obstacles to commercializing the LSBs and the development processes of their cathode host are first elaborated. Then, the sulfur fixation principles, and synthesis methods of the TMPs are briefly summarized and the recent progress of TMPs in LSBs is reviewed in detail. Outbreaks of viral infectious diseases, such as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and influenza A virus (IAV), pose a great threat to human health. Viral spread is accelerated worldwide by the development of cold chain logistics; Therefore, an effective antiviral approach is required. In this study, it is aimed to develop a distinct antiviral strategy using nanozymes with low-temperature adaptability, suitable for cold chain logistics. Phosphorus (P) atoms are added to the remote counter position of Fe-N-C center to prepare FeN 4 P 2 -single-atom nanozymes (SAzymes), exhibiting lipid oxidase (OXD)-like activity at cold chain temperatures (-20, and 4 °C). This feature enables FeN 4 P 2 -SAzymes to disrupt multiple enveloped viruses (human, swine, and avian coronaviruses, and H1-H11 subtypes of IAV) by catalyzing lipid peroxidation of the viral lipid envelope. Under the simulated conditions of cold chain logistics, FeN 4 P 2 -SAzymes are successfully applied as antiviral coatings on outer packaging and personal protective equipment; Therefore, FeN 4 P 2 -SAzymes with low-temperature adaptability and broad-spectrum antiviral properties may serve as key materials for developing specific antiviral approaches to interrupt viral transmission through the cold chain., (© 2024 Wiley‐VCH GmbH.)

Hybrid metal halides (HMHs) with efficient circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) have application prospects in many fields, due to their abundant host-guest structures and high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY). However, CPLs in HMHs are predominantly excited by light or electricity, limiting their use in multivariate environments. It is necessary to explore a novel excitation method to extend the application of chiral HMHs as smart stimuli-responsive optical materials. In this work, an enantiomeric pair of 0D hybrid manganese bromides, [H 2 (2R,4R)-(+)/(2S,4S)-(-)-2,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)pentane]MnBr 4 [(R/S)-1] is presented, which exhibits efficient CPL emissions with near-unity PLQYs and high dissymmetry factors of ± 2.0 × 10 -3 . Notably, (R/S)-1 compounds exhibit unprecedented and bright circularly polarized mechanoluminescence (CPML) emissions under mechanical stimulation. Moreover, (R/S)-1 possess high mechanical force sensitivities with mechanoluminescence (ML) emissions detectable under 0.1 N force stimulation. Furthermore, this ML emission exhibits an extraordinary antithermal quenching effect in the temperature range of 300-380 K, which is revealed to originate from a thermal activation energy compensation mechanism from trap levels to Mn(II) 4 T 1 level. The aim of this work is to develop an environmentally friendly, safe, and simple route for realizing efficient preparation of aspirin. Here, inspired by enzyme synthesis in vivo, the aspirin synthesis has been realized by sub-nanoconfined esterification with directional flow and ≈100% conversion in an unprecedented reaction time of <6.36 s at 23 °C. Such flow esterification reaction is catalyzed by thermally transformed graphene oxide (GO) membranes with tailored physicochemical properties, which can be obtained simply through a mild annealing method. A possible mechanism is revealed by density functional theory calculation, indicating that the synergistic effect of spatial confinement and surface electronic structure can significantly improve the catalytic performance. Postpartum hemorrhage can lead to a variety of maternal complications. Tao Hong Si Wu Decoction (THSWD) is a traditional Chinese medicine used for treating gynecological diseases. However, the active ingredients of THSWD and its pharmacological mechanism of treatment for postpartum blood stasis still remained unclear. In this study, 201 components were identified in THSWD ethanol extract using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry, including 59 terpenoids and volatile oil, 61 Phenylpropanoids, 41 flavonoids, 22 alkaloids, and other 18 components. A total of 45 active compounds were identified in the blood and 33 active compounds were identified in the uterine. Taking the common components into the blood and into the uterus combined with network pharmacology. It was demonstrated that the active compounds can bind to the core target with good affinity through molecular docking. Mechanoluminescence is a smart light-emitting phenomenon in which applied mechanical energy is directly converted into photon emissions. In particular, mechanoluminescent materials have shown considerable potential for applications in the fields of energy and sensing. This study thoroughly investigates the mechanoluminescence and long afterglow properties of singly doped and codoped Sr 2 MgSi 2 O 7 (SMSO) with varying concentrations of Eu 2+ and Dy 3+ ions. Subsequently, a comprehensive analysis of its multimode luminescence properties, including photoluminescence, mechanoluminescence, long afterglow, and X-ray-induced luminescence, is conducted. In addition, the density of states mapping is acquired through first-principles calculations, confirming that the enhanced mechanoluminescence properties of SMSO primarily stem from the deep trap introduced by Dy 3+ . In contrast to traditional mixing with Polydimethylsiloxane, in this study, the powders are incorporated into optically transparent wood to produce a multiresponse with mechanoluminescence, long afterglow, and X-ray-excited luminescence. This structure is achieved by pretreating natural wood, eliminating lignin, and subsequently modifying the wood to overall modification using various smart phosphors and epoxy resin composites. After natural drying, a multifunctional composite wood structure with diverse luminescence properties is obtained. Endowing a single material with various types of luminescence, that is, exhibiting a simultaneous optical response to different stimuli, is vital in various fields. A photoluminescence (PL)- and mechanoluminescence (ML)-based multifunctional sensing platform is built by combining heterojunctioned ZnS/CaZnOS:Mn 2+ mechano-photonic materials using a 3D-printing technique and fiber spinning. ML-active particles are embedded in micrometer-sized cellulose fibers for flexible optical devices capable of emitting light driven by mechanical force. Individually modified 3D-printed hard units that exhibit intense ML in response to mechanical deformation, such as impact and friction, are also fabricated. Importantly, they also allow low-pressure sensing up to ≈100 bar, a range previously inaccessible by any other optical sensing technique. Moreover, the developed optical manometer based on the PL of the materials demonstrates a superior high-pressure sensitivity of ≈6.20 nm GPa -1 . Using this sensing platform, four modes of temperature detection can be achieved: excitation-band spectral shifts, emission-band spectral shifts, bandwidth broadening, and lifetime shortening. Multifunctional nanoaggregates are widely used in cancer phototheranostics. However, it is challenging to construct their multifunctionality with a single component, and deliver them rapidly and efficiently without complex modifications. Herein, a NIR-absorbing small molecule named TBT-2(TP-DPA) is designed and certify its theranostic potentials. Then, their nanoaggregates, which are simply encapsulated by DSPE-PEG, demonstrate a photothermal efficiency of 51% while keeping a high photoluminescence quantum yield in the NIR region. Moreover, the nanoaggregates can be excited and delivered by an 808 nm pulse laser to solid tumors within only 40 min. The delivery efficiency and theranostic efficacy are better than that of the traditional enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect (generally longer than 24 hours). This platform is first termed as the photoinduced thermoacoustic (PTA) process, and confirm its application requires both NIR-responsive materials and pulse laser irradiation. This study not only inspires the design of multifunctional nanoaggregates, but also offers a feasible approach to their fast delivery. Influenza virus with numerous subtypes and frequent variation limits the development of high-efficacy and broad-spectrum antiviral strategy. Here, a novel multi-antiviral metastable iron sulfides (mFeS) against various influenza A/B subtype viruses is developed. This work finds that mFeS induces high levels of lipid peroxidation and •OH free radicals in the conservative viral envelope, which depends on Fe 2+ . This phenomenon, termed as a viral ferroptosis, results in the loss of viral infectibility and pathogenicity in vitro and in vivo, respectively. Furthermore, the decoction of mFeS (Dc(mFeS)) inhibits cellular ferroptosis-dependent intracellular viral replication by correcting the virus-induced reprogrammed sulfur metabolism, a conserved cellular metabolism. Notably, personal protective equipment (PPE) that is loaded with mFeS provides good antiviral protection. Aerosol administration of mFeS combined with the decoction (mFeS&Dc) has a potential therapeutic effect against H1N1 lethal infection in mice. Scintillating materials that convert ionizing radiation into low-energy photons hold great potential for radiation detection, nondestructive inspection, medical radiography, and space exploration. However, organic scintillators are characterized by low radioluminescence, while bulky inorganic scintillators are not suitable for the development of flexible detectors. Here, high-resolution X-ray imaging using solution-processable lanthanide-based metal-organic frameworks as microscale scintillators is demonstrated. Mechanistic studies suggest that lanthanide ions absorb X-rays to generate high-density molecular triplet excitons, and excited linkers subsequently sensitize lanthanide ions via nonradiative resonance energy transfer. Furthermore, the crystalline nature offers a delocalized electronic feature rather than isolated subunits, which enables direct trapping of charge carriers by lanthanide emitters. By controlling the concentration ratio between Tb 3+ and Eu 3+ ions, efficient and color-tunable radioluminescence of lanthanide ions can be achieved. When coupled with elastic, transparent polymer matrices, these metal-organic framework-based microscintillators allow the fabrication of flexible X-ray detectors. Such detectors feature a detection limit of 23 nGy s -1 , which is 240 times lower than the typical radiation dose for medical diagnosis. X-ray imaging with resolution higher than 16.6 line pairs per millimeter is further demonstrated. In situ heterogeneous olefin polymerization has attracted much attention for the synthesis of polyolefin composites. However, the complicated syntheses of specially designed catalysts or the detrimental effects of interactions between catalyst and solid supports pose great challenges. In this contribution, an outer-shell self-supporting strategy was designed to heterogenize nickel catalysts on different fillers via precipitation homopolymerization of ionic cluster type polar monomer. The application of membrane-based separation processes for propylene/propane (C 3 H 6 /C 3 H 8 ) is extremely promising and attractive as it is poised to reduce the high operation cost of the established low temperature distillation process, but major challenges remain in achieving high gas selectivity/permeability and long-term membrane stability. Herein, a C 3 H 6 facilitated transport membrane using trisilver pyrazolate (Ag 3 pz 3 ) as a carrier filler is reported, which is uniformly dispersed in a polymer of intrinsic microporosity (PIM-1) matrix at the molecular level (≈15 nm), verified by several analytical techniques, including 3D-reconstructed focused ion beam scanning electron microscropy (FIB-SEM) tomography. The π-acidic Ag 3 pz 3 combines preferentially with π-basic C 3 H 6 , which is confirmed by density functional theory calculations showing that the silver ions in Ag 3 pz 3 form a reversible π complex with C 3 H 6 , endowing the membranes with superior C 3 H 6 affinity. The resulting membranes exhibit superior stability, C 3 H 6 /C 3 H 8 selectivity as high as ≈200 and excellent C 3 H 6 permeability of 306 Barrer, surpassing the upper bound selectivity/permeability performance line of polymeric membranes. A fully automated, closed-column chromatographic system with parallel multi-channel has been developed. This system is established with seven reagent reservoirs, one multi-channel syringe pump, eight 10-port valves, forty sample tubes, 40 columns, and a fraction collection tray. Four samples can be purified simultaneously at a time, and 40 samples can be purified in one batch. Each sample can be purified by an independent channel, avoiding cross-contamination. The sample tubes can be flipped upside down for automatic cleaning, which eliminates the residue of samples. Moreover, the fraction collection tray can collect up to 104 different target components. The key performance of the system has been investigated. The results show that the sample tubes are well-cleaned, the bubble does not affect the chemical behavior of columns, the consistency of the parallel channels is excellent and the blank of the system is negligible. The system was demonstrated by the purification of Sr from reference materials (BCR-2, JB-2, JB-3, and NIST SRM 987). Living systems can utilize energy with a high efficiency. Biophotons are proposed to modulate biological functions with such efficiency; however, the underlying mechanism remains unexplored, especially due to the challenge of ultraweak mid-infrared (MIR) light detection and the theoretical perturbation from spontaneous MIR emission. Here, we proposed an optimized system to detect MIR biophotons generated in the hydrolysis of deoxynucleotide triphosphates (dNTPs, energy-storing molecules similar to ATP). The system used a quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) that was modulated by gold nanoparticle (AuNP) concentration and thus by the inter-AuNP distance, which depends on the concentration above. The measurements indicate that 33- and 84-THz photons are released by dNTP hydrolysis, which can drive DNA replication. Mechanoluminescence, a smart luminescence phenomenon in which light energy is directly produced by a mechanical force, has recently received significant attention because of its important applications in fields such as visible strain sensing and structural health monitoring. Up to present, hundreds of inorganic and organic mechanoluminescent smart materials have been discovered and studied. Among them, strontium-aluminate-based materials are an important class of inorganic mechanoluminescent materials for fundamental research and practical applications attributed to their extremely low force/pressure threshold of mechanoluminescence, efficient photoluminescence, persistent afterglow, and a relatively low synthesis cost. This paper presents a systematic and comprehensive review of strontium-aluminate-based luminescent materials' mechanoluminescence phenomena, mechanisms, material synthesis techniques, and related applications. Although (oxy)hydroxides generated by electrochemical reconstruction (EC-reconstruction) of transition-metal catalysts exhibit highly catalytic activities, the amorphous nature fundamentally impedes the electrochemical kinetics due to its poor electrical conductivity. Here, EC-reconstructed NiFe/NiFeOOH core/shell nanoparticles in highly conductive carbon matrix based on the pulsed laser deposition prepared NiFe nanoparticles is successfully confined. Electrochemical characterizations and first-principles calculations demonstrate that the reconstructed NiFe/NiFeOOH core/shell nanoparticles exhibit high oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalytic activity (a low overpotential of 342.2 mV for 10 mA cm -2 ) and remarkable durability due to the efficient charge transfer in the highly conductive confined heterostructure. More importantly, benefit from the superparamagnetic nature of the reconstructed NiFe/NiFeOOH core/shell nanoparticles, a large OER improvement is achieved (an ultralow overpotential of 209.2 mV for 10 mA cm -2 ) with an alternating magnetic field stimulation. Such OER improvement can be attributed to the Néel relaxation related magnetic heating effect functionalized superparamagnetic NiFe cores, which are generally underutilized in reconstructed core/shell nanoparticles. Persistent mechanoluminescence (ML) with long lifetime is highly required to break the limits of the transient emitting behavior under mechanics stimuli. However, the existing materials with persistent ML are completely trap-controlled, and a pre-irradiation is required, which severely hinders the practical applications. In this work, a novel type of ML, self-charging persistent ML, is created by compositing the Sr 3 Al 2 O 5 Cl 2 :Dy 3+ (SAOCD) powders into flexible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix. With no need for any pre-irradiation, the as-fabricated SAOCD/PDMS elastomer could exhibit intense and persistent ML under mechanics stimuli directly, which greatly facilitates its applications in mechanics lighting, displaying, imaging, and visualization. By investigating the matrix effects as well as the thermoluminescence, cathodoluminescence, and triboelectricity properties, the interfacial triboelectrification-induced electron bombardment processes are demonstrated to be responsible for the self-charged energy in  SAOCD under mechanics stimuli. Organic room-temperature long-persistent luminescent materials are promising light-emitting materials for encryption, architectural decoration, organic solar cells, and biomedical applications. However, their unstable structures and thermal- and humidity-induced emission quenching have greatly limited their utility and reliability. Here, we report a metal-free nonconjugated copolymer that possesses stable photoluminescence at both high temperature and humidity. The room-temperature long-persistent luminescence (LPL) of this copolymer lasts for more than 15 s and can be recovered in high humidity conditions by heating to remove moisture. Copolymer LPL can be achieved with various excitation wavelengths, ranging from ultraviolet to near-infrared, and the LPL color can be adjusted accordingly. Minimally invasive surgery, such as laparoscopic surgery, has developed rapidly due to its small wound, less bleeding and quick recovery. However, a lack of force feedback, which leads to tissue damage, is still unsolved. Many sensors have been used to offer force feedback but still limited by their large size, low security and high complexity. Based on the advantages of small size, high sensitivity and immunity to electromagnetic interferences, we propose a tactile sensor integrated with fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) at the tip of laparoscopic grasper to offer real-time force feedback in the laparoscopic surgery. The tactile sensor shows a force sensitivity of 0.076 nm/N with a repeatable accuracy of 0.118 N. A bench test is conducted in a laparoscopic training box to verify its feasibility. Test results illustrate that gripping force exerted on the laparoscopic grasper in terms of peak and standard deviation values reduce significantly for the novice subjects with force feedback compared to those without force feedback. The proposed sensor integrated at the tip of the laparoscopic grasper demonstrates a better control of the gripping force among the novice surgeons and indicates that the smart grasper can help surgeons achieve precise gripping force to reduce unnecessary tissue trauma., (© 2022 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

It is generally considered that photoacoustic imaging (PAI) and fluorescence imaging (FLI) cannot be enhanced concurrently, as they are dependent on competitive photophysical processes at the single-molecule level. Herein, we reveal that BDTR9-OC8 and BDTR9-C8, which have identical π-conjugated backbones but are substituted by side chains of different rigidity, show distinct phototheranostic properties in the aggregated state. The NIR-II FLI and PAI brightness of BDTR9-C8 nanoparticles are enhanced by 4.6 and 1.4 times compared with BDTR9-OC8 nanoparticles. Theoretical calculations and GIWAXS analysis revealed that BDTR9-C8 with rigid side chains shows a relative amorphous condensed state, which will benefit the efficient transportation of photo-generated excitons and phonons, subsequently enhancing the FLI and PAI signals. Besides, both nanoparticles exhibit excellent photothermal conversion efficiency due to their strong light-harvesting capability and are considered effective photothermal therapy materials. CaZnOS-based semiconductors are the only series of material system discovered that can simultaneously realize a large number of dopant elements to directly fulfill the highly efficient full-spectrum functionality from ultraviolet to near-infrared under the same force/pressure. Nevertheless, owing to the high agglomeration of the high temperature solid phase manufacturing process, which is unable to control the crystal morphology, the application progress is limited. Here, the authors report first that CaZnOS-based fine monodisperse semiconductor crystals with various doping ions are successfully synthesized by a molten salt shielded method in an air environment. This method does not require inert gas ventilation, and therefore can greatly reduce the synthesis cost and more importantly improve the fine control of the crystal morphology, along with the crystals' dispersibility and stability. These doped semiconductors can not only realize different colors of mechanical-to-optical energy conversion, but also can achieve multicolor luminescence under low-dose X-ray irradiation, moreover their intensities are comparable to the commercial NaI:Tl. The development of wound dressings with combined antibacterial activities and pro-healing functions has always been an intractable medical task for treating bacterial wound infection. Herein, a novel injectable hybrid hydrogel dressing is developed, which is doped with nitric oxide (NO) donor (N,N'-di-sec-butyl-N,N'-dinitroso-1,4-phenylenediamine, BNN6) loaded two-dimensional polydopamine nanosheets (PDA NS). The hydrogel matrix is in situ formed through dynamic Schiff base crosslinking between hydrazide-modified γ-polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA-ADH) and aldehyde-terminated Pluronic F127 (F127-CHO). Under 808 nm irradiation, the embedded PDA NS exhibits outstanding photothermal transform properties (56.1%) and on-demand NO release. The combination of photothermal and NO gas therapy with a synergistic antibacterial effect works on both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in vitro. Furthermore, a full-thickness skin defect model also demonstrates that the hybrid hydrogel shows outstanding antibacterial properties and effectively accelerates the wound healing process. Mechanoluminescence (ML) is a striking optical phenomenon that is achieved through mechanical to optical energy conversion. Here, a series of Li 1 -x Na x NbO 3 : Pr 3+ (x = 0, 0.2, 0.5, 0.8, 1.0) ML materials have been developed. In particular, due to the formation of heterostructure, the synthesized Li 0.5 Na 0.5 NbO 3 : Pr 3+ effectively couples the trap structures and piezoelectric property to realize the highly repeatable ML performance without traditional preirradiation process. Furthermore, the ML performances measured under sunlight irradiation and preheating confirm that the ML properties of Li 0.5 Na 0.5 NbO 3 : Pr 3+ can be ascribed to the dual modes of luminescence mechanism, including both trap-controllable and self-recoverable modes. In addition, DFT calculations further confirm that the doping of Na + ions in LiNbO 3 leads to electronic modulations by the formation of the heterostructures, which optimizes the trap distributions and concentrations. These modulations improve the electron transfer efficiency to promote ML performances. In this contribution, we install an azobenzene functionality in olefin polymerization catalysts and use light to modulate their properties via photoinduced trans-cis isomerization of the azobenzene moiety. The initially targeted azobenzene-functionalized α-diimine palladium and nickel catalysts are not photoresponsive. To address this issue, an imine-amine system bearing interrupted conjugation with the metal center, and a sandwich-type α-diimine system bearing an azobenzene unit at a position covalently far from the metal center were prepared and studied. We demonstrate that light can be used to tune their properties in ethylene polymerization and copolymerization with polar comonomers, enabling light-induced control of the polymerization processes, polymer microstructures and polymer properties. We wanted to explore a new method for the determination of monosaccharides in Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua polysaccharide using the ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography quadrupole trap tandem mass spectrometry. In this study, hydrochloric acid was used instead of trifluoroacetic acid to hydrolyze polysaccharides, and hydrolysis time was greatly reduced from 5-9 h to 1 h. The 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone was used for pre-column derivatization of monosaccharides. The parameters of linearity (R 2  > 0.999), stability (1.63-2.52%), intra-day and inter-day precision (0.69-0.95%, 1.81-2.77%), repeatability (1.89-2.65%), and recovery (97.63-102.24%) of the method were verified. Satisfactory validation results showed this method could be used to determine the target components. The results indicated the polysaccharide contained glucose, mannose, rhamnose, galactose, ribose, and arabinose. Technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution and principal component analysis were used to build an evaluation model based on the monosaccharide composition. The evaluation results showed that the samples from the Qingyang County of Anhui Province were the best when the monosaccharides were used as the evaluation index. Therefore, a new method was established to detect the monosaccharide content of polysaccharides from Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua and comprehensively evaluate the quality of Chinese medicines with polysaccharides as the main active ingredient., (© 2021 The Authors. In the past decade, mRNA markers have been well demonstrated as promising molecular markers in forensic body fluid identification (BFI), and successfully used in wide applications. Several studies have assessed the performance of semen-specific mRNA markers in distinguishing semen from other common body fluids at the crime scene. Infertility has been reported as a global health problem that is affecting approximately 15% of couples worldwide. Therefore, it is important for forensic researchers to consider the impact of infertility on semen identification. This study aimed to explore the effect of semen from infertile men (hereinafter "infertile semen") on BFI and to identify semen-specific mRNAs that can efficiently and accurately distinguish normal and infertile semen samples from other body fluids. Results showed that the selected five mRNAs (KLK3, TGM4, SEMG1, PRM1, and PRM2) performed a significantly high semen specificity in normal semen. Moreover, KLK3 was slightly influenced by infertile semen samples with over 98% positive results in all semen samples. The accuracy to predict normal semen reached up to 96.6% using the discrimination function Y1 with KLK3 and PRM1. However, when the infertile semen samples were included in discrimination function (function Y2 with KLK3), the accuracy rate of semen identification (including the normal and infertile semen) was down to 89.5%. Besides, the sensitivity of multiplex assay could reach down to 50pg. Solid-state lithium batteries (SSLBs) are promising owing to enhanced safety and high energy density but plagued by the relatively low ionic conductivity of solid-state electrolytes and large electrolyte-electrode interfacial resistance. Herein, we design a poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP)-based polymer-in-salt solid electrolyte (PISSE) with high room-temperature ionic conductivity (1.24×10 -4  S cm -1 ) and construct a model integrated TiO 2 /Li SSLB with 3D fully infiltration of solid electrolyte. With forming aggregated ion clusters, unique ionic channels are generated in the PISSE, providing much faster Li + transport than common polymer electrolytes. The integrated device achieves maximized interfacial contact and electrochemical and mechanical stability, with performance close to liquid electrolyte. Insufficient catalytic activity and stability and high cost are the barriers for Pt-based electrocatalysts in wide practical applications. Herein, a hierarchically porous PtNi nanoframe/N-doped graphene aerogel (PtNiNF-NGA) electrocatalyst with outstanding performance toward methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) in acid electrolyte has been developed via facile tert-butanol-assisted structure reconfiguration. The ensemble of high-alloying-degree-modulated electronic structure and correspondingly the optimum MOR reaction pathway, the structure superiorities of hierarchical porosity, thin edges, Pt-rich corners, and the anchoring effect of the NGA, endow the PtNiNF-NGA with both prominent electrocatalytic activity and stability. The mass and specific activity (1647 mA mg Pt -1 , 3.8 mA cm -2 ) of the PtNiNF-NGA are 5.8 and 7.8 times higher than those of commercial Pt/C. Taohong Siwu Decoction is a classic Chinese medicine prescription for treatment of cerebral ischemia and gynecological diseases. However, the active ingredients of Taohong Siwu Decoction have not been identified. In this study, a ultra performance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass system was used to analyze the active components and metabolites of Taohong Siwu Decoction absorbed into the blood and the brain. A total of 39 active compounds and 90 metabolites were identified in the blood and brain by comparing retention times, accurate masses, fragmentation patterns, and literature data. The results showed that flavonoids (Carthamus tinctorius L), aromatic organic acids, and benzoquinones (Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels and Ligusticumchuanxiong hort) were prominent active ingredients in Taohong Siwu Decoction. Furthermore, hydrolysis, glucuronidation, and sulfation were identified as the main metabolic pathways of Taohong Siwu Decoction in vivo. Controversial biodegradability and nonspecific pre-drug leakage are major limitations for inorganic nanoparticles in cancer treatment. To solve these problems, we developed organic-inorganic hybridized hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles with polydopamine modifications on the surface to simultaneously achieve enhanced biodegradability and controllable drug release. The morphology and chemical structure of the nanoparticles were characterized by TEM, N 2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, TEM-mapping and XPS. Moreover, the release behavior of nanoparticles under various pH conditions and the degradation behavior in the presence of GSH were evaluated. With effective controlled release, HMONs-PTX@PDA were shown to significantly inhibit cancer cell proliferation and achieve antitumor effects in vivo through dual-response release in the tumor microenvironment. Ovarian cancer is currently one of the most common cancers of the female reproductive organs, and its mortality rate is the highest among all types of gynecologic cancers. Rapid and accurate classification of ovarian cancer plays an important role in the determination of treatment plans and prognoses. Nevertheless, the most commonly used classification method is based on histopathological specimen examination, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Thus, in this study, we utilize radiomics feature extraction methods and the automated machine learning tree-based pipeline optimization tool (TOPT) for analysis of 3D, second harmonic generation images of benign, malignant and normal human ovarian tissues, to develop a high-efficiency computer-aided diagnostic model. Area under the receiver operating characteristic curve values of 0.98, 0.96 and 0.94 were obtained, respectively, for the classification of the three tissue types. Influenza poses a severe threat to global health. Despite the whole inactivated virus (WIV)-based nasal vaccine being a promising strategy for influenza protection, the mucosal barrier is still a bottleneck of the nasal vaccine. Here, a catalytic mucosal adjuvant strategy for an influenza WIV nasal vaccine based on chitosan (CS) functionalized iron oxide nanozyme (IONzyme) is developed. The results reveal that CS-IONzyme increases antigen adhesion to nasal mucosa by 30-fold compared to H1N1 WIV alone. Next, CS-IONzyme facilitates H1N1 WIV to enhance CCL20-driven submucosal dendritic cell (DC) recruitment and transepithelial dendrite(TED) formation for viral uptake via the toll-like receptor(TLR) 2/4-dependent pathway. Moreover, IONzyme with enhanced peroxidase (POD)-like activity by CS modification catalyzes a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-dependent DC maturation, which further enhances the migration of H1N1 WIV-loaded DCs into the draining lymph nodes for antigen presentation. Finally, CS-IONzyme-based nasal vaccine triggers an 8.9-fold increase of IgA-mucosal adaptive immunity in mice, which provides a 100% protection against influenza, while only a 30% protection by H1N1 WIV alone. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) has been widely used to construct homogeneous structures with increasing complexity for biological and biomedical applications due to their powerful functionalities. Especially, dynamic DNA assemblies (DDAs) have demonstrated the ability to simulate molecular motions and fluctuations in bionic systems. DDAs, including DNA robots, DNA probes, DNA nanochannels, DNA templates, etc., can perform structural transformations or predictable behaviors in response to corresponding stimuli and show potential in the fields of single molecule sensing, drug delivery, molecular assembly, etc. A wave of exploration of the principles in designing and usage of DDAs has occurred, however, knowledge on these concepts is still limited. Although some previous reviews have been reported, systematic and detailed reviews are rare. To achieve a better understanding of the mechanisms in DDAs, herein, the recent progress on the fundamental principles regarding DDAs and their applications are summarized. The relative assembly principles and computer-aided software for their designing are introduced. The advantages and disadvantages of each software are discussed. The motional mechanisms of the DDAs are classified into exogenous and endogenous stimuli-triggered responses. The special dynamic behaviors of DDAs in biomedical applications are also summarized.
