In this article, we investigate quantum entanglement (QE) filtering to address the challenges in multi-isotope positron emission tomography (PET) or in PET studies utilizing radiotracers with dual- positron and prompt gamma emissions. Via GATE simulation, we demonstrate the efficacy of QE filtering using a one-of-a-kind cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) PET system - establishing its viability as a multimodal scanner and ability to perform QE filtering. We show the high Compton scattering probability in this CZT-based scanner with 44.2% of gammas undergoing a single scatter prior to absorption. Additionally, the overall system sensitivity as a standard PET scanner (11.29%), QE-PET scanner (6.81%), and Compton Camera (11.29%) is quantified. Further, we find a 23% decrease in the double Compton scatter (DCSc) frequency needed for QE filtering for each mm decrease in crystal resolution and an increase in mean absolute error (MAE) of their Δϕs from 6.8° for 1 mm resolution to 9.5° , 12.2° , and 15.3° for 2, 4, and 8 mm resolution, respectively. These results reinforce the potential of CZT detectors to lead next generation PET systems taking full advantage of the QE information of positron annihilation photons.

This article introduces new neutrosophic principles aiming to extend and generalize the concepts of locality and nonlocality by addressing scenarios involving indeterminacy, together with partiality and multitude, in physics, mechanics, cosmology, biology, medicine, chemistry, economics, ecology, sociology. Locality refers to interactions or processes confined within a limited region of space or time. But there may be a Total (100%) Locality, or a Partial Locality (less than 100% and greater than 0%). The effects are constrained to the immediate environment. Contrariwise, NonLocality refers to interactions or connections between entities separated by space or time. The changes in one location have instantaneous effects on another. Similarly, there may be a Total (100%) NonLocality, or a Partial NonLocality (less than 100% and greater than 0%). Total (100%) or Partial (less than 100% and greater than 0%) Indeterminacy may arise from hidden variables and from environment. For instance, it may involve nonlocal connections between objects that are only partially entangled or influence each other in limited ways, rather than exhibiting complete freedom. The Principle of Partial Locality, Partial Indeterminacy, and Partial NonLocality implies an interplay of locality, indeterminacy, and nonlocality acting in a dynamic neutrosophic system. In the development of quantum technologies, a reliable means for characterizing quantum devices, be it a measurement device, a state-preparation device, or a transformation device, is crucial. However, the conventional approach based on, for example, quantum state tomography or process tomography relies on assumptions that are often not necessarily justifiable in a realistic experimental setting. Although the device-independent (DI) approach to this problem bypasses the shortcomings above by making only minimal, justifiable assumptions, most of the theoretical proposals to date only work in the idealized setting where independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) trials are assumed. Here, we provide a versatile solution for rigorous device-independent certification that does not rely on the i.i.d. assumption. Specifically, we describe how the prediction-based ratio (PBR) protocol and martingale-based protocol developed for hypothesis testing can be applied in the present context to achieve a device-independent certification of desirable properties with confidence interval (CI). To illustrate the versatility of these methods, we demonstrate how we can use them to certify—with finite data—the underlying negativity, Hilbert space dimension, entanglement depth, and fidelity to some target pure state. In particular, we provide examples showing how the amount of certifiable negativity and fidelity scales with the number of trials and how many experimental trials one needs to certify a qutrit state space or the presence of genuine tripartite entanglement. Overall, we have found that the PBR protocol and the martingale-based protocol often offer similar performance, even though the latter does have to presuppose any witness (Bell-like inequality). In contrast, our findings also show that the performance of the martingale-based protocol may be severely affected by one's choice of Bell-like inequality. Intriguingly, a Bell function useful for self-testing does not necessarily give the optimal confidence-gain rate for certifying the fidelity to the corresponding target state. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Quantum clock synchronization (QCS) can measure out the high-precision clock difference among distant users, which breaks through the standard quantum limit by employing the properties of quantum entanglement. Currently, the wavelength division multiplexed QCS network has been demonstrated with a spontaneous parametric down-conversion entangled photon source. In this paper, we propose a more efficient QCS network scheme with the wavelength multicasting entangled photon source, which can decrease at least 25% of wavelength channel consumption under the identical network scale. Afterwards, a four node QCS network is demonstrated, where the wavelength multicasting entangled photon source is utilized with dual-pumped four-wave mixing silicon chip. Magnetic materials are composed of the simple building blocks of magnetic moments on a crystal lattice that interact via magnetic exchange. Yet from this simplicity emerges a remarkable diversity of magnetic states. Some reveal the deep quantum mechanical origins of magnetism, for example, quantum spin liquid (QSL) states in which magnetic moments remain disordered at low temperatures despite being strongly correlated through quantum entanglement. A promising theoretical model of a QSL is the Kitaev model, composed of unusual bond-dependent exchange interactions, but experimentally, this model is challenging to realise. Here we show that the material requirements for the Kitaev QSL survive an extended pseudo-edge-sharing superexchange pathway of Ru3+ octahedra within the honeycomb layers of the inorganic framework solid, RuP3SiO11. We confirm the requisite j eff = 1 2 state of Ru3+ in RuP3SiO11 and resolve the hierarchy of exchange interactions that provide experimental access to an unexplored region of the Kitaev model. Recent theoretical studies indicate that the Kitaev model may be realized in framework materials exhibiting extended superexchange pathways. Quantum networks, relying on the distribution of quantum entanglement between remote locations, have the potential to transform quantum computation and secure long-distance quantum communication. However, a fundamental ingredient for fibre-based implementations of such networks, namely entanglement between a single spin and a photon directly emitted at telecom wavelengths, has been unattainable so far. Here, we use a negatively charged exciton in an InAs/InP quantum dot to implement an optically active spin qubit taking advantage of the lowest-loss transmission window, the telecom C-band. We investigate the coherent interactions of the spin-qubit system under resonant excitation, demonstrating high fidelity spin initialisation and coherent control using picosecond pulses. We further use these tools to measure the coherence of a single, undisturbed electron spin in our system. Finally, we demonstrate spin-photon entanglement in a solid-state system with entanglement fidelity F = 80.07 ± 2.9%, more than 10 standard deviations above the classical limit. Quantum communication networks would greatly benefit from the possibility to have solid-state emitters being directly interfaced with telecom fibers, without the need for wavelength conversion. In the present manuscript, we introduce a quantum system of two superconducting qubits (S–Qs) interacting with a quantized field under the influence of the Kerr nonlinear medium and Ising interaction. We formulate the Hamiltonian of the quantum model and determine the density operator of whole quantum system as well as quantum subsystems. We examine the dynamics of the quantumness measures for subsequent times including the S–Qs entanglement, S–Qs-field entanglement and quantum Fisher information in relation to the system parameters. A consistent theory of quantum entanglement requires that constituent single-particle states belong to the same Hilbert space, the coherent eigenstates of a complete set of operators in a given representation, defined with respect to a shared continuous parameterization. Formulating such eigenstates for a single relativistic particle with spin, and applying them to the description of many-body states, presents well-known challenges. In this paper, we review the covariant theory of relativistic spin and entanglement in a framework first proposed by Stueckelberg and developed by Horwitz, Piron, et al. This approach modifies Wigner's method by introducing an arbitrary timelike unit vector n μ and then inducing a representation of S L (2 , C) , based on p μ rather than on the spacetime momentum. Generalizing this approach, we construct relativistic spin states on an extended phase space { (x μ , p μ) , (ζ μ , π μ) } , inducing a representation on the momentum π μ , thus providing a novel dynamical interpretation of the timelike unit vector n μ = π μ / M . Studying the unitary representations of the Poincaré group on the extended phase space allows us to define basis quantities for quantum states and develop the gauge invariant electromagnetic Hamiltonian in classical and quantum mechanics. We write plane wave solutions for free particles and construct stable singlet states, and relate these to experiments involving temporal interference, analogous to the spatial interference known from double slit experiments. Concurrence is a crucial entanglement measure in quantum theory used to describe the degree of entanglement between two or more qubits. Local unitary (LU) invariants can be employed to describe the relevant properties of quantum states. Compared to quantum state tomography, observing LU invariants can save substantial physical resources and reduce errors associated with tomography. In this paper, we use LU invariants as explanatory variables and employ methods such as multiple regression, tree models, and BP neural network models to fit the concurrence of 2-qubit quantum states. For pure states and Werner states, by analyzing the correlation between data, a functional formula for concurrence in terms of LU invariants is obtained. Quantum entanglement acts as a crucial part in quantum computation and quantum information, hence quantifying unknown entanglement is an important task. Due to the fact that the amount of entanglement cannot be achieved directly by measuring any physical observables, it remains an open problem to quantify entanglement experimentally. In this work, we provide an effective way to quantify entanglement for the unknown quantum states via artificial neural networks. By choosing the expectation values of measurements as input features and the values of entanglement measures as labels, we train artificial neural network models to predict the entanglement for new quantum states accurately. We present an architecture for encoding two qubits within the optical "clock" transition and nuclear spin-1/2 degree of freedom of neutral ytterbium-171 atoms. Inspired by recent high-fidelity control of all pairs of states within this four-dimensional quotes space, we present a toolbox for intra-ququart (single-atom) one- and two-qubit gates, inter-ququart (two-atom) Rydberg-based two- and four-qubit gates, and quantum nondemolition (QND) readout. We then use this toolbox to demonstrate the advantages of the ququart encoding for entanglement distillation and quantum error correction which exhibit superior hardware efficiency and better performance in some cases since fewer two-atom operations are required. Finally, leveraging single-state QND readout in our ququart encoding, we present a unique approach to studying interactive circuits and to realizing a symmetry protected topological phase of a spin-1 chain with a shallow, constant-depth circuit. Quantum mechanics imposes limits on the statistics of certain observables. Perhaps the most famous example is the uncertainty principle. Similar trade-offs also exist for the simultaneous violation of multiple Bell inequalities. In the simplest case of three observers, it has been shown that if two observers violate a Bell inequality, then none of them can violate any Bell inequality with the third observer, a property called monogamy of Bell violations. Forms of Bell monogamy have been linked to the nosignaling principle, and the inability of simultaneous violations of all inequalities is regarded as their fundamental property. Here, we show that the Bell monogamy does not hold universally and that in fact the only monogamous situation exists for only three observers. Consequently, the nature of quantum nonlocality is truly polygamous. We present a systematic methodology for identifying quantum states, measurements, and tight Bell inequalities that do not obey the monogamy principle for any number of more than three observers. The identified polygamous inequalities enable any subset of (N = 1) observers to reveal nonlocality, which is also shown experimentally by measuring Bell-type correlations of six-photon Dicke states. We present an analytical solution for a quantum system characterized by a double Λ five-level atom interacting with an intensity-dependent coupling regime, influenced by a nonlinear Kerr-like medium. We also derive the constants of motion through Heisenberg's equations. Furthermore, the dynamical evolution of the entanglement and quantum coherence between the atom and the field is discussed using linear entropy and l 1 -norm of coherence. Through a comprehensive examination of the quantum system, it is observed that both the detuning and the Kerr-like parameters exert a significant impact on the degree of entanglement and coherence. However, the impacts of detuning and the Kerr effect become less pronounced when the photon multiplicity is high. In addition, we conduct a comparison between the five-level atomic system and a four-level system, revealing that the number of energy levels has a profound impact on the behavior of entanglement and coherence. Maintaining quantum coherence and entanglement in the presence of environmental noise, particularly within non-Markovian contexts, represents a significant challenge for the progression of quantum information science and technology. This study offers a substantial advancement by investigating the dynamics of a two-qubit system subjected to diverse noise conditions, encompassing relaxation, dephasing, and their cumulative effects. By employing quantum-state-diffusion equations specifically crafted for non-Markovian environments, we introduce an innovative strategy to counteract the detrimental influences of environmental noise on quantum teleportation fidelity and entanglement concurrence. Our results underscore the potential for external interventions to markedly improve the resilience of quantum information processing tasks over prolonged durations, especially in settings where dephasing noise prevails. Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states, also known as two-component Schrödinger cats, play vital roles in the foundation of quantum physics and the potential quantum applications. Enlargement in size and coherent control of GHZ states are both crucial for harnessing entanglement in advanced computational tasks with practical advantages, which unfortunately pose tremendous challenges as GHZ states are vulnerable to noise. Here we propose a general strategy for creating, preserving, and manipulating large-scale GHZ entanglement, and demonstrate a series of experiments underlined by high-fidelity digital quantum circuits. For initialization, we employ a scalable protocol to create genuinely entangled GHZ states with up to 60 qubits, almost doubling the previous size record. For protection, we take a different perspective on discrete time crystals (DTCs), originally for exploring exotic nonequilibrium quantum matters, and embed a GHZ state into the eigenstates of a tailor-made cat scar DTC to extend its lifetime. For manipulation, we switch the DTC eigenstates with in-situ quantum gates to modify the effectiveness of the GHZ protection. Our findings establish a viable path towards coherent operations on large-scale entanglement, and further highlight superconducting processors as a promising platform to explore nonequilibrium quantum matters and emerging applications. The Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states are multipartite entangled quantum states with strong non-local entanglement. Quantum entanglement detection is one of the fundamental tasks in quantum information science. Conventional methods for quantum state tomography exhibit limitations in scalability as the number of qubits increases, leading to exponential growth in the number of unknown parameters and required measurements. Consequently, the accuracy enhancement achieved by these methods is constrained. In response to this challenge, we developed a tailored convolutional neural network (CNN) model capable of effectively detecting entanglement in two-qubit quantum states, achieving an accuracy exceeding 97.5%. Notably, even in the presence of noise, this model retains its robust performance, displaying resilience against a tolerable level of noise contamination. Furthermore, the inherent generalization power of CNNs allows our model, which was initially trained on a specific spectrum of quantum states, to extend its applicability to wider states, positioning it as an outstanding tool for the further application of machine learning in the field of quantum computing, opening up new pathways for solving entanglement detection problems in quantum information. We consider multipartite quantum state discrimination and provide a specific relation between the properties of entanglement witness and quantum nonlocality inherent in the confidence of measurement. We first provide the definition of the confidence of measurement as well as its useful properties for various types of multipartite measurement. We show that globally-maximum confidence that cannot be achieved by local operations and classical communication strongly depends on the existence of a certain type of entanglement witness. We also provide conditions for an upper bound on maximum of locally-achievable confidence. We present a protocol for the hierarchical controlled joint remote implementation of the partially unknown operations of m qudits belonging to some restricted sets by using m multiparticle high-dimensional entangled states as the quantum channel. All the senders share the information of the partially unknown operations and cooperate with each other to implement the partially unknown operations on the remote receiver's quantum system. The receivers are hierarchized in accordance with their abilities to reconstruct the desired state. The agents in the upper grade need only cooperate with one of the lower-grade agents, and the agents in the lower grade need the cooperation of all the other agents. The protocol has the advantage of having high channel capacity by using a high-dimensional entangle state as the quantum channel for the hierarchial controlled joint remote implementation of partially unknown quantum operations of m qudits. This article aims to add a further perspective to the discussion of the relationship between film and ethics. This perspective is important in today's context, as the omnipresence of digital and mobile audiovisual images in everyday life increasingly determines our thinking and behaviour. However, there is a lack of appropriate critical reflection and ethical understanding of these images and their ontology. This article proposes a machine ethics of film from a film-philosophical perspective. Such an ethics draws on critical posthumanism, namely on Karen Barad's "ethics of mattering", which explicitly relates to Emmanuel Levinas' philosophy of the Other and their death. Thereby, special attention is given to the ontological nexus of film and death, as well as to the idea of film's spectrality (drawing on, e.g., Derrida, Barthes, and Leutrat), a context that is discussed along with Barad's diffractive view on quantum entanglement. Following from the author's earlier approaches to Barad's agential realism in the context of film-philosophy and certain Heidegger-based arguments set out in earlier writings about film and death, this article introduces the figure of what is called the "machinic spectre of film". Abstract In recent years, quantum nanophotonics has forged a rich nexus of nanotechnology with photonic quantum information processing, offering remarkable prospects for advancing quantum technologies beyond their current technical limits in terms of physical compactness, energy efficiency, operation speed, temperature robustness and scalability. In this perspective, we highlight a number of recent studies that reveal the especially compelling potential of nanoplasmonic cavity quantum electrodynamics for driving quantum technologies down to nanoscale spatial and ultrafast temporal regimes, whilst elevating them to ambient temperatures. Our perspective encompasses innovative proposals for quantum plasmonic biosensing, driving ultrafast single-photon emission and achieving near-field multipartite entanglement in the strong coupling regime, with a notable emphasis on the use of industry-grade devices. We conclude with an outlook emphasizing how the bespoke characteristics and functionalities of plasmonic devices are shaping contemporary research directives in ultrafast and room-temperature quantum nanotechnologies.

In this article, I start with a general presentation of the ideas behind sigma models and higher gauge theories and introduce the possibility of a higher entanglement structure. Using a higher categorial interpretation of entanglement involving gauge theories and σ-models instead of qubits, one recovers T-duality as a form of ancilla aided entanglement generation. This opens the way towards new dualities in gauge theories and σ-models produced by means of analogies with quantum circuits of various types.

Certifying quantum entanglement is a critical step toward realizing quantum-coherent applications. In this work, we show that entanglement of spins can be unambiguously evidenced in a scanning tunneling microscope with electron spin resonance by exploiting the fact that entangled states undergo a free time evolution with a distinct characteristic time constant that clearly distinguishes it from the time evolution of non-entangled states. By implementing a phase control scheme, the phase of this time evolution can be mapped back onto the population of one entangled spin, which can then be read out reliably using a weakly coupled sensor spin in the junction of the scanning tunneling microscope. We demonstrate through open quantum system simulations with currently available spin coherence times of T2 ≈ 300 ns, that a signal directly correlated with the degree of entanglement can be measured at temperatures of 100–400 mK accessible in sub-Kelvin scanning tunneling microscopes. Complex forms of quantum entanglement can arise in two qualitatively different ways: either between many qubits or between two particles with higher-than-qubit dimension. While both the many-qubit frontier and the high-dimension frontier are well established, state-of-the-art quantum technology is becoming increasingly able to create and manipulate entangled states that simultaneously feature many particles and high dimension. Here, we investigate generic states that can be considered both genuinely high-dimensional and genuine multiparticle entangled. We consider a natural quantity that characterizes this key property. To detect it, we develop three different classes of criteria. These enable us both to probe the ultimate noise tolerance of this form of entanglement and to make detection schemes using sparse or even minimal measurement resources. The approach provides a simple way of benchmarking entanglement dimensionality in the multiparticle regime and general, platform-independent, detection methods that readily apply to experimental use. We report on the implementation of quantum entanglement distribution and quantum state teleportation over a 14.4 km urban dark-fiber link, which is partially underground, partially overhead, and patched in several stations. We characterize the link for its use as a quantum channel and realize its active polarization stabilization. Using a type-II cavity-enhanced SPDC photon pair source, a 40Ca+ single-ion quantum memory, and quantum frequency conversion to the telecom C-band, we demonstrate photon-photon entanglement, ion-photon entanglement, and teleportation of a qubit state from the ion onto a remote telecom photon, all realized over the urban fiber link. Quantum information technology offers the potential to realize unprecedented computational resources via secure channels distributing entanglement between quantum computers. Diamond, as a host to optically-accessible spin qubits, is a leading platform to realize quantum memory nodes needed to extend such quantum links. Photonic crystal (PhC) cavities enhance light-matter interaction and are essential for an efficient interface between spins and photons that are used to store and communicate quantum information respectively. Here, we demonstrate one- and two-dimensional PhC cavities fabricated in thin-film diamonds, featuring quality factors (Q) of 1.8 × 105 and 1.6 × 105, respectively, the highest Qs for visible PhC cavities realized in any material. Importantly, our fabrication process is simple and high-yield, based on conventional planar fabrication techniques, in contrast to the previous with complex undercut processes. We also demonstrate fiber-coupled 1D PhC cavities with high photon extraction efficiency, and optical coupling between a single SiV center and such a cavity at 4 K achieving a Purcell factor of 18. The demonstrated photonic platform may fundamentally improve the performance and scalability of quantum nodes and expedite the development of related technologies. In this paper, we investigate the entanglement dynamics of a two qutrits system interacting with a spin environment. Using negativity as the entanglement measure, we study the entanglement dynamics of the system. We study the static entanglement structure in (1+1)-dimensional free Dirac-fermion theory with Lifshitz symmetry and arbitrary integer dynamical critical exponent. This model is different from the one introduced in [Hartmann et al., SciPost Phys.11 (2021) 031] due to a proper treatment of the square Laplace operator. Dirac fermion Lifshitz theory is local as opposed to its scalar counterpart which strongly affects its entanglement structure. We show that there is quantum entanglement across arbitrary subregions in various pure (including the vacuum) and mixed states of this theory for arbitrary integer values of the dynamical critical exponent. Our numerical investigations show that quantum entanglement in this theory is tightly bounded from above. Such a bound and other physical properties of quantum entanglement are carefully explained from the correlation structure in these theories. Quantum entanglement is a fundamental characteristic of quantum mechanics, and understanding the robustness of entanglement across different mixed states is crucial for comprehending the entanglement properties of general quantum states. In this paper, the robustness of entanglement of Dicke–W and Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) mixed states under different mixing ratios is calculated using the entanglement witness method. The robustnesses of entanglement of Dicke–W and GHZ mixed states are different when the probability ratio of Dicke to W is greater than 3 2 and less than 3 2 . For the probability of Dicke and W states greater than or equal to 3 2 , we study the robustness of entanglement of Dicke and GHZ mixed states and analyze and calculate their upper and lower bounds. For the probability of Dicke and W states less than 3 2 , we take the equal probability ratio of Dicke and W states as an example and calculate and analyze the upper and lower bounds of their robustness of entanglement in detail. This paper concerns the analysis of large quantum states. It is a notoriously difficult problem to quantify separability of quantum states, and for large quantum states, it is unfeasible. Here we posit that when quantum states are large, we can deduce reasonable expectations for the complex structure of non-classical multipartite correlations with surprisingly little information about the state. We show, with pegagogical examples, how known results from combinatorics can be used to reveal the expected structure of various correlations hidden in the ensemble described by a state. Quantum entanglement is essential in performing many quantum information tasks. Here, we theoretically investigate the stationary entanglement between a Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) cavity field and a rotating end mirror in an LG-cavity optorotational system with a nonlinear cross-Kerr (CK) interaction and a degenerate optical parametric amplifier (OPA). We calculate the logarithmic negativity of the system to quantify the stationary entanglement. We examine the influence of various system parameters such as the cavity detuning, the strength of the nonlinear CK interaction, the parametric gain and phase of the OPA, the power of the input Gaussian laser, the topological charge of the LG-cavity field, the mass of the rotating end mirror, and the ambient temperature on the stationary entanglement. Under the combined effect of the nonlinear CK interaction and the OPA, we find that the stationary entanglement can be substantially enhanced at lower Gaussian laser powers, smaller topological charges of the LG-cavity field, and larger masses of the rotating end mirror. We show that the combination of the nonlinear CK interaction and the OPA can make the stationary entanglement more robust against the ambient temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Robust high-order optical vortices are much in demand for applications in optical manipulation, optical communications, quantum entanglement and quantum computing. However, in numerous experimental settings, a controlled generation of optical vortices with arbitrary orbital angular momentum remains a challenge. Here, we present a concept of "optical vortex ladder" for the stepwise generation of optical vortices through Sisyphus pumping of pseudospin modes in photonic graphene. The ladder is applicable in various lattices with Dirac-like structures. Instead of conical diffraction and incomplete pseudospin conversion under conventional Gaussian beam excitations, the vortices produced in the ladder arise from non-trivial topology and feature diffraction-free Bessel profiles, thanks to the refined excitation of the ring spectrum around the Dirac cones. By employing a periodic "kick" to the photonic graphene, effectively inducing the Sisyphus pumping, the ladder enables tunable generation of optical vortices of any order even when the initial excitation does not involve any orbital angular momentum. The optical vortex ladder stands out as an intriguing non-Hermitian dynamical system, and, among other possibilities, opens a pathway for applications of topological singularities in beam shaping and wavefront engineering. Controlled generation of OAM modes holds promise for applications in classical and quantum communication networks. Quantum networks that can perform user-defined protocols beyond quantum key distribution will require fully controllable entangled quantum states. To expand the available space of generated time-bin entangled states, we demonstrate a time-bin entangled photon source that produces qubit states | ψ 〉 = α | 00 〉 + β | 11 〉 with fully controllable phase and amplitudes. Eight different two-photon states have been selected and prepared from arbitrary states on the reduced two-qubit Bloch sphere. The photon pairs encoded in the time-bin scheme were generated at 2.4 MHz with a visibility of V = 0.9475 ± 0.0016 , with a violation of the CHSH Bell's inequality by 197 standard deviations. After entanglement distribution over 100 km of single-mode fibers, we obtained a visibility of V = 0.9541 ± 0.0113 with a violation of the CHSH Bell's inequality by 6 standard deviations. The prepared states had an average fidelity of 0.9540 ± 0.0016 at the source and an average fidelity of 0.9353 − 0.0209 + 0.0100 after entanglement distribution, which shows that the quantum states generated by our time-bin entangled photon source can be fully controlled potentially to a level applicable to long-distance advanced quantum network systems. Entanglement is one of the most striking features of quantum systems, whereby its non-classical correlation is an essential resource in numerous quantum protocols. Entanglement can be divided into two categories: interparticle and intraparticle entanglement. There are both distinctions and similarities between these two kinds of entangled states. This work delves into these distinctions and similarities from the following aspects: correlation and non-locality, robustness, the mechanisms of generation and separation, and practical applications. Entanglement swapping is a technique based on quantum entanglement. As entanglement has different categories, entanglement swapping also has various types, including interparticle to interparticle and intraparticle to interparticle. Swapping protocols from intraparticle entanglement to interparticle entanglement can be applied to super quantum dense encoding, quantum information transmission, quantum teleportation, etc. Thus, this work proposes three swapping protocols, from spin–orbit intraparticle entanglement to spin–spin interparticle entanglement, based on Bell state joint measurement, the cross-Kerr medium, and linear optical elements. This work can help us better understand entanglement by analyzing the differences and similarities between the two types of entangled states. In this article, I start with a general presentation of the ideas behind sigma models and higher gauge theories and introduce the possibility of a higher entanglement structure. Using a higher categorial interpretation of entanglement involving gauge theories and σ -models instead of qubits, one recovers T-duality as a form of ancilla aided entanglement generation. In this work, we present a new protocol that accomplishes multiparty quantum private comparison leveraging maximally entangled | G H Z 3 〉 triplets. Our intention was to develop a protocol that can be readily executed by contemporary quantum computers. This is possible because the protocol uses only | G H Z 3 〉 triplets, irrespective of the number n of millionaires. Although it is feasible to prepare multiparticle entangled states of high complexity, this is overly demanding on a contemporary quantum apparatus, especially in situations involving multiple entities. By relying exclusively on | G H Z 3 〉 states, we avoid these drawbacks and take a decisive step toward the practical implementation of the protocol. An important quantitative characteristic of the protocol is that the required quantum resources are linear both in the number of millionaires and the amount of information to be compared. Additionally, our protocol is suitable for both parallel and sequential execution. Ideally, its execution is envisioned to take place in parallel. Nonetheless, it is also possible to be implemented sequentially if the quantum resources are insufficient. Notably, our protocol involves two third parties, as opposed to a single third party in the majority of similar protocols. Trent, commonly featured in previous multiparty protocols, is now accompanied by Sophia. This dual setup allows for the simultaneous processing of all n millionaires' fortunes. The new protocol does not rely on a quantum signature scheme or pre-shared keys, reducing complexity and cost. Implementation wise, uniformity is ensured as all millionaires use similar private circuits composed of Hadamard and CNOT gates. Quantum networks comprised of entangled end nodes serve stronger than the classical correlation for unparalleled quantum internet applications. However, practical quantum networking is affected by noise, which at its worst, causes end nodes to be described by pre-existing classical data. In such untrusted networks, determining quantum network fidelity and genuine multi-node entanglement becomes crucial. Here, we show that determining quantum network fidelity and genuine N-node entanglement in an untrusted star network requires only N + 1 measurement settings. This method establishes a semi-trusted framework, allowing some nodes to relax their assumptions. Our network determination method is enabled by detecting genuine N-node Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steerability. Experimentally, using spontaneous parametric down-conversion entanglement sources, we demonstrate the determinations of genuine 3-photon and 4-photon quantum networks and the false positives of the widely used entanglement witness, the fidelity criterion of 1/2. In this study, we introduce an autonomous method for addressing the detection and classification of quantum entanglement, a core element of quantum mechanics that has yet to be fully understood. We employ a multi-layer perceptron to effectively identify entanglement in both two- and three-qubit systems. Our technique yields impressive detection results, achieving nearly perfect accuracy for two-qubit systems and over 90 % accuracy for three-qubit systems. Additionally, our approach successfully categorizes three-qubit entangled states into distinct groups with a success rate of up to 77 % . The CPT invariant vacuum states of a scalar field in de Sitter space, called α-vacua, are not unique. We explore the α-vacua from the quantum information perspective by a pair of static Unruh-DeWitt (UDW) detectors coupled to a scalar field with either monopole or dipole coupling, which are in time-like zero separation or space-like antipodal separation. The analytical form of the reduced final state of the UDW detector is derived. We study the entanglement harvesting and quantum discord of the reduced state, which characterize the quantum entanglement and quantum correlation of the underlying α-vacua, respectively. Our results imply that the quantum entanglement gravitated by de Sitter gravity behaves quite differently for time-like and space-like separations. It experiences "sudden death" for the former and grows for the latter as the measuring time or the value of α increases. This demonstrates the nonlocal nature of quantum entanglement. For the quantum discord, we find no "sudden death" behavior, and it experiences superhorizon suppression, which explains the superhorizon decoherence in the inflationary universe scenario. Overall, the time-like or space-like quantum entanglement and correlation behave differently on their dependence of α, measuring time and spectral gaps, with details discussed in this work. Quantum private comparison (QPC) represents a cryptographic approach that enables two parties to determine whether their confidential data are equivalent, without disclosing the actual values. Most existing QPC protocols utilizing single photons or Bell states are considered highly feasible, but they suffer from inefficiency. To address this issue, we present a novel QPC protocol that capitalizes on the entanglement property of Bell states and local operations to meet the requirements of efficiency. In the proposed protocol, two participants with private inputs perform local operations on shared Bell states received from a semi-honest third party (STP). Afterward, the modified qubits are returned to the STP, who can then determine the equality of the private inputs and relay the results to the participants. A simulation on the IBM Quantum Cloud Platform confirmed the feasibility of our protocol, and a security analysis further demonstrated that the STP and both participants were unable to learn anything about the individual private inputs. Quantum computing has emerged as a transformative paradigm, with revolutionary potential in numerous fields, including quantum image processing and compression. Applications that depend on large scale image data could benefit greatly from parallelism and quantum entanglement, which would allow images to be encoded and decoded with unprecedented efficiency and data reduction capability. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the rapidly evolving field of quantum image compression, including its foundational principles, methods, challenges, and potential uses. The paper will also feature a thorough exploration of the fundamental concepts of quantum qubits as image pixels, quantum gates as image transformation tools, quantum image representation, as well as basic quantum compression operations. Our survey shows that work is still sparse on the practical implementation of quantum image compression algorithms on physical quantum computers. Quantum entanglement is a fundamental property of quantum mechanics. Recently, studies have explored entanglement in the t t ¯ system at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) when both the top quark and anti-top quark decay leptonically. Entanglement is detected via correlations between the polarizations of the top and anti-top and these polarizations are measured through the angles of the decay products of the top and anti-top. In this work, we propose searching for evidence of quantum entanglement in the semi-leptonic decay channel where the final state includes one lepton, one neutrino, two b-flavor tagged jets, and two light jets from the W decay. We find that this channel is both easier to reconstruct and has a larger effective quantity of data than the fully leptonic channel. As a result, the semi-leptonic channel is 60% more sensitive to quantum entanglement and a factor of 3 more sensitive to Bell inequality violation, compared to the leptonic channel. In 139 fb−1 (3 ab−1) of data at the LHC (HL-LHC), it should be feasible to measure entanglement at a precision of ≲ 3% (0.7%). Detecting Bell inequality violation, on the other hand, is more challenging. With 300 fb−1 (3 ab−1) of integrated luminosity at the LHC Run-3 (HL-LHC), we expect a sensitivity of 1.3σ (4.1σ). In our study, we utilize a realistic parametric fitting procedure to optimally recover the true angular distributions from detector effects. Quantum computing is an exciting field that uses quantum principles, such as quantum superposition and entanglement, to tackle complex computational problems. Superconducting quantum circuits, based on Josephson junctions, is one of the most promising physical realizations to achieve the long-term goal of building fault-tolerant quantum computers. The past decade has witnessed the rapid development of this field, where many intermediate-scale multi-qubit experiments emerged to simulate nonequilibrium quantum many-body dynamics that are challenging for classical computers. Here, we review the basic concepts of superconducting quantum simulation and their recent experimental progress in exploring exotic nonequilibrium quantum phenomena emerging in strongly interacting many-body systems, e.g., many-body localization, quantum many-body scars, and discrete time crystals. One of the significant challenges of the Radio over fibre (RoF) Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol is the propagation delay. This delay can lead to serious issues, such as higher propagation delay resulting in collisions and unnecessary retransmissions. Quantum entanglement is an excellent candidate to overcome the propagation delay of the RoF MAC protocol. A new quantum MAC protocol is proposed, named the Quantum Entanglement‐based MAC protocol (QE‐MAC), in which Quantum Teleportation is utilised to address the propagation delay. Four entanglement states are employed to represent the control packets of the classical MAC protocol, and data is transmitted over the classical channel. Instead of using control packets such as acknowledgement, request to send, and Clear to send, state transitions are employed. This approach avoids the delay and collision issues associated with control packets, resulting in a significant improvement in network performance. The delay, duty cycle (DC), and power consumption of the proposed QE‐MAC protocol are formulated and derived. The protocol is evaluated in terms of delay, DC, and power consumption, demonstrating superior performance compared to the classical RoF MAC protocol. Optically levitated multiple nanoparticles have emerged as a platform for studying complex fundamental physics such as non-equilibrium phenomena, quantum entanglement, and light–matter interaction, which could be applied for sensing weak forces and torques with high sensitivity and accuracy. An optical trapping landscape of increased complexity is needed to engineer the interaction between levitated particles beyond the single harmonic trap. However, existing platforms based on spatial light modulators for studying interactions between levitated particles suffered from low efficiency, instability at focal points, the complexity of optical systems, and the scalability for sensing applications. Here, we experimentally demonstrated that a metasurface which forms two diffraction-limited focal points with a high numerical aperture (∼0.9) and high efficiency (31 %) can generate tunable optical potential wells without any intensity fluctuations. A bistable potential and double potential wells were observed in the experiment by varying the focal points' distance, and two nanoparticles were levitated in double potential wells for hours, which could be used for investigating the levitated particles' nonlinear dynamics, thermal dynamics and optical binding. In the development of quantum technologies, a reliable means for characterizing quantum devices, be it a measurement device, a state-preparation device, or a transformation device, is crucial. However, the conventional approach based on, for example, quantum state tomography or process tomography relies on assumptions that are often not necessarily justifiable in a realistic experimental setting. Although the device-independent (DI) approach to this problem bypasses the shortcomings above by making only minimal, justifiable assumptions, most of the theoretical proposals to date only work in the idealized setting where independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) trials are assumed. Here, we provide a versatile solution for rigorous device-independent certification that does not rely on the i.i.d. assumption. Specifically, we describe how the prediction-based ratio (PBR) protocol and martingale-based protocol developed for hypothesis testing can be applied in the present context to achieve a device-independent certification of desirable properties with confidence interval (CI). To illustrate the versatility of these methods, we demonstrate how we can use them to certify—with finite data—the underlying negativity, Hilbert space dimension, entanglement depth, and fidelity to some target pure state. In particular, we provide examples showing how the amount of certifiable negativity and fidelity scales with the number of trials and how many experimental trials one needs to certify a qutrit state space or the presence of genuine tripartite entanglement. Overall, we have found that the PBR protocol and the martingale-based protocol often offer similar performance, even though the latter does have to presuppose any witness (Bell-like inequality). In contrast, our findings also show that the performance of the martingale-based protocol may be severely affected by one’s choice of Bell-like inequality. Intriguingly, a Bell function useful for self-testing does not necessarily give the optimal confidence-gain rate for certifying the fidelity to the corresponding target state.
