The title compound, [Cd(C3H6NO5P)(H2O)2] n, is a three-dimensional polymeric complex. The asymmetric unit contains one Cd atom, one N-(phosphono­methyl)glycine zwitterion [(O−)2OPCH2NH2+CH2COO−] and two water mol­ecules. The coordination geometry is a distorted CdO6 octa­hedron. Each N-(phosphono­methyl)glycine ligand bridges four adjacent water-coordinated Cd cations through three phospho­nate O atoms and one carboxyl­ate O atom, like a regular PO43− group in zeolite-type frameworks. One-dimensional zigzag (–O—P—C—N—C—C—O—Cd–) n chains along the [101] direction are linked to one another via Cd—O—P bridges and form a three-dimensional network motif with three types of channel systems. The variety of O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds is likely to be responsible for stabilizing the three-dimensional network structure and preventing guest mol­ecules from entering into the channels. Abstract: A simple, efficient and low-temperature approach for the assembly of hierarchical Zinc oxide (ZnO) microstructures in ionic liquid [EMIM]+[BF4]− is reported. The as-obtained ZnO superstructures are composed of microbundles of nanorods from the center points, with the diameter and length in the range of 100–150nm and 2–4μm, which have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The ZnO microstructures exhibit significant defect-related green-yellow emission and high photodegradation of dye Methyl Orange (5×10−5 mol/L) under UV excitation within 80min. Abstract: Solvothermal reaction assisted with microwave leads to the formation of two unique heterometallic cubic clusters [Ni3 M′(L)3(OH)(CH3CN)3]2·CH3CN (M′=K for 1 and M′=Na for 2, where L is an anion of 2-[(2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzylidene)-amino]-ethanesulfonate) with higher efficiency, yields and purity than those without it. The 6-metallacrown-3 [Ni3(OH)(L)3]− groups exhibit interesting ion trapping and self-assembly of size-different Na+ and K+ through form recognition and coordination activity in 1 and 2. The magnetic studies for 1 and 2 suggest that the {Ni3 M′O4} (M′=K and Na) cores both display dominant ferromagnetic interactions from the nature of the binding modes of μ 3-O (oxidophenyl) and μ 3-OH. Developing new and understanding multicomponent reactions (MCRs) is an appealing but challenging task. Herein, Rh(iii)-catalyzed multicomponent double C-H annulations of cyclic diimines (or diketones and acetone), alkynes, and ammonium acetate to assemble functionalized 1,1'-biisoquinolines and C-bridged 1,1'-bisisoquinolines with controllable 14 N/ 15 N editing in one shot has been developed. Through a combination of isotopic-labeling ( 2 H, 18 O, and 15 N) experiments, crystallography, and time-dependent ESI-MS, the reaction process was studied in detail. Ammonium acetate accounts for two rounds of Hofmann elimination and iminization, thus leading to an unprecedented imine dance, cyclic imine → N -alkenyl imine → NH imine. The N -alkenyl imine can immediately guide a C-H annulation (N-retention channel), and some of it is converted into NH-imine to trigger another annulation (N-exchange channel). The channels and 15 N ratios can be regulated by the reaction mode and acidity. Moreover, the resulting 1,1'-biisoquinolines are a privileged ligand scaffold which is exemplified herein by a hydrazine-iodine exchange reaction to form drug-like benzo[ c ]cinnolines., Competing Interests: The authors declare no competing financial interest., (This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.)

Modification of commercially available biaryl monophosphine ligands via ruthenium (II) -catalyzed P (III) -directed-catalyzed ortho C-H secondary alkylation is described. The use of highly ring-strained norbornene as a secondary alkylating reagent is the key to this transformation. A series of highly bulky ligands with a norbornyl group were obtained in excellent yields. The modified ligands with secondary alkyl group outperformed common substituted phosphines in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction at a ppm mole level of Pd catalyst.

Efficient oxygen evolution reaction catalysts can be prepared via controlled pyrolysis of molecular platforms, and there is still minimal mechanistic understanding of such pyrolysis processes. Here, we introduce a 3-MeOsalophen-ligated cobalt complex as a precursor to obtain a Co-based OER electrocatalyst via controlled pyrolysis under an inert atmosphere. In our case, the unique N, O chelation mode of the 3-MeOsalophen ligand (bis[3-methoxysalicylydene]-1,2 iminophenylenediamine) was used to synthesis a Co 2 complex [Co 2 (3-MeOsalophen)(Cl) 3 (CH 3 OH) 2 ]. By regulating the pyrolysis conditions, we successfully obtained a N-doped carbon Co/CoO x core-shell nanostructure. More importantly, TG-MS was first adopted for tracking the decomposition products of the complex in the pyrolysis process, further finding out the evolution mechanism from Co 2 to the core-shell nanostructure. As an electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction, the core-shell Co/CoO x @NC-800 nanostructure achieves an ultralow overpotential of 288 mV at 10 mA cm -2 in 1 M KOH solution. This work offers guiding insight into controlled pyrolysis via TG-MS analysis, using a novel complex precursor for precise regulation of heteroatom-doped (3d) transition metal-based electrocatalysts.

In the title compound, [Cd(C(10)H(16)O(4))(C(16)H(14)N(4))](n), the Cd(II) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two sebacate ligands and two N atoms from the chelating 1,4-bis-(2-benzimidazol-yl)ethanebutane ligand. Neighboring Cd(II) ions are bridged by the sebacate ligands, forming a zigzag polymeric chain structure. The chains are further extended into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure through inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
