The macrovascular complications of diabetes cause high mortality and disability in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The inflammatory response of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) runs through its pathophysiological process. Salvianolic acid B (Sal B) exhibits beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system. However, its role and mechanism in diabetic vascular inflammatory response remain unclear. In this study, we found that Sal B reduced vascular inflammation in diabetic mice and high glucose- (HG-) induced VSMC inflammation. Subsequently, we found that Sal B reduced HG-induced VSMC inflammation by downregulating FOXO1. Furthermore, miR-486a-5p expression was obviously reduced in HG-treated VSMC. Sal B attenuated HG-induced VSMC inflammation by upregulating miR-486a-5p. Loss- and gain-of-function experiments had proven that the transfection of the miR-486a-5p mimic inhibited HG-induced VSMC inflammation whereas that of the miR-486a-5p inhibitor promoted HG-induced VSMC inflammation, thereby leading to the amelioration of vascular inflammation in the diabetic mice. Furthermore, studies had shown that miR-486a-5p inhibited FOXO1 expression by directly targeting its 3′-UTR. In conclusion, Sal B alleviates the inflammatory response of VSMC by upregulating miR-486a-5p and aggravating its inhibition of FOXO1 expression. High-resolution and wide-swath (HRWS) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging with azimuth multi-channel always suffers from channel phase and amplitude errors. Compared with spatial-invariant error, the range-dependent channel phase error is intractable due to its spatial dependency characteristic. This paper proposes a novel parameterized channel equalization approach to reconstruct the unambiguous SAR imagery. First, a linear model is established for the range-dependent channel phase error, and the sharpness of the reconstructed Doppler spectrum is used to measure the unambiguity quality. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between the channel phase errors and the sharpness is revealed, which allows us to estimate the optimal parameters by maximizing the sharpness of the reconstructed Doppler spectrum. Determining the exact type of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 20 insertion (ex20ins) mutation in lung cancer has become important. We found that not all ex20ins mutations reported by cobas EGFR test v2 could be validated by Sanger sequencing even using surgical specimens with high tumor contents. This study aimed to validate the ex20ins results reported by the cobas test and to determine whether there were clinicopathological factors associated with aberrant cobas ex20ins report. In total, 123 cobas-reported cases with ex20ins were retrospectively collected and validated by Sanger sequencing and Idylla assay. Clinicopathological features between ex20ins cobas+/Sanger+ group (n = 71) and cobas+/Sanger− group (n = 52) were compared. The Idylla assay detected ex20ins in 82.6% of cobas+/Sanger+ cases but only in 4.9% of cobas+/Sanger− cases. The cobas+/Sanger− group was significantly associated with higher tumor contents, poorly differentiated patterns, tumor necrosis, and a lower internal control cycle threshold value reported by the Idylla which suggesting the presence of increased EGFR gene copy numbers. EGFR fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) revealed the majority of cobas+/Sanger− group had EGFR high copy number gain (16%) or amplification (76%) according to the Colorado criteria. Among cases reported to have concomitant classic EGFR and ex20ins mutations by the cobas, the classic EGFR mutations were all detected by Sanger sequencing and Idylla, while the ex20ins mutations were undetected by Sanger sequencing (0%) or rarely reported by Idylla assay (3%). FISH revealed high EGFR copy number gain (17.9%) and amplification (79.5%) in cases reported having concomitant classic EGFR and ex20ins mutations by the cobas. This study demonstrated an unusually high frequency of EGFR amplification in cases with aberrant cobas ex20ins report which could not be validated by Sanger sequencing or Idylla assay. Background: Postpartum women often experience stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and vaginal microbial dysbiosis, which seriously affect women's physical and mental health. Understanding the relationship between SUI and vaginal microbiota composition may help to prevent vaginal diseases, but research on the potential association between these conditions is limited. Results: This study employed 16S rRNA gene sequencing to explore the association between SUI and vaginal dysbiosis. In terms of the vaginal microbiota, both species richness and evenness were significantly higher in the SUI group. Additionally, the results of NMDS and species composition indicated that there were differences in the composition of the vaginal microbiota between the two groups. Specifically, compared to postpartum women without SUI (Non-SUI), the relative abundance of bacteria associated with bacterial dysbiosis, such as Streptococcus, Prevotella, Dialister, and Veillonella, showed an increase, while the relative abundance of Lactobacillus decreased in SUI patients. Furthermore, the vaginal microbial co-occurrence network of SUI patients displayed higher connectivity, complexity, and clustering. Conclusion: The study highlights the role of Lactobacillus in maintaining vaginal microbial homeostasis. It found a correlation between SUI and vaginal microbiota, indicating an increased risk of vaginal dysbiosis. The findings could enhance our understanding of the relationship between SUI and vaginal dysbiosis in postpartum women, providing valuable insights for preventing bacterial vaginal diseases and improving women's health. To develop a potential refractory for directional solidification of high-entropy alloys with high-activity, the interfacial reaction of Al 2 O 3 , MgO, and BaZrO 3 refractory against TiZrNbV alloy melt was investigated. A comparative study of their corrosion resistance is performed to evaluate the applicability. Results indicated that the interaction occurred between the three refractory and the alloy melts, causing the refractory to be wetted by the alloy melt. The dissolution-corrosion was the main reason for the interaction, and the corrosion resistance extent of the refractory was proportional to the wetting angle of the alloy. Furthermore, Al 2 O 3 refractory was seriously corroded by the alloy melts, resulting in the appearance of a 50 μm thick pit. Then, the dissolved O in the refractory diffused into the alloy, causing a 400 μm thick interaction layer and Zr–O oxides reactants. In addition, MgO refractory could suppress its interaction with the alloy melt, due to the volatility of Mg vapor. However, there still existed a 50 μm thick interaction layer and Zr–O oxides products. Compared with Al 2 O 3 and MgO, BaZrO 3 refractory exhibited a lowest dissolution extent, and did not cause the appearance of an interaction layer or products, confirming its excellent corrosion resistance. Human action recognition (HAR) as the most representative human-centred computer vision task is critical in human resource management (HRM), especially in human resource recruitment, performance appraisal, and employee training. Currently, prevailing approaches to human action recognition primarily emphasize either temporal or spatial features while overlooking the intricate interplay between these two dimensions. This oversight leads to less precise and robust action classification within complex human resource recruitment environments. In this paper, we propose a novel human action recognition methodology for human resource recruitment environments, which aims at symmetrically harnessing temporal and spatial information to enhance the performance of human action recognition. Specifically, we compute Depth Motion Maps (DMM) and Depth Temporal Maps (DTM) from depth video sequences as space and time descriptors, respectively. Subsequently, a novel feature fusion technique named Center Boundary Collaborative Canonical Correlation Analysis (CBCCCA) is designed to enhance the fusion of space and time features by collaboratively learning the center and boundary information of feature class space. We then introduce a spatio-temporal information filtration module to remove redundant information introduced by spatio-temporal fusion and retain discriminative details. Finally, a Support Vector Machine (SVM) is employed for human action recognition. This study utilized a combination of FLIC(1D3.2C) and FLUENT(2021R2) software to optimize the primary air distribution along the grate and the performance of a straw briquette combustion furnace of a 7 MW unit in China used to produce hot air for drying grain. Three air distribution modes, namely front-enhanced, uniform, and rear-enhanced modes, were analyzed to determine their effect on the flue gas components above the grate, the temperature field in the furnace, and the nitrogen oxide concentration at the furnace outlet. The results of the calculations showed that the NOx emissions for the front-enhanced, uniform, and rear-enhanced modes were 133.5 mg/Nm3, 104.4 mg/Nm3, and 76.6 mg/Nm3, respectively. It was found that the rear-enhanced mode can expand the biomass drying, devolatilization, and combustion zone, thus improving the furnace combustion performance and decreasing NOx emissions. The intentional ingestion of sodium nitrite causes toxicity by inducing methemoglobinemia, which can lead to cyanosis, hypotension and death. The number of reported suicide cases has significantly increased in the past 10 years as sodium nitrite is readily available online. The traditional tests for nitrite and nitrate require specialized detection methods which are not typically available in a postmortem toxicology laboratory. This rise in sodium nitrite overdose cases indicates the need for a simple, quick test for suspected nitrite toxicity. In this study, a common Griess reagent color test (MQuant™ Nitrite Test Strips) was used as a presumptive method in cases where the ingestion of sodium nitrite was suspected. The test results were consistent between specimens in all cases, and vitreous humor was identified as a reliable matrix to be used in the cases of suspected sodium nitrite poisonings. The catalytic gasification of petroleum coke with different ratios of K2CO3 was investigated by a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) using the non-isothermal method. The initial, peak, and final gasification temperatures of the petroleum coke decreased greatly as the amount of K2CO3 increased, and the catalytic reaction became saturated at a concentration of K+ higher than 5 mmol/g; with the further increase in catalyst; the gasification rate varied slightly, but no inhibition effect was observed. The vaporization of the catalyst was confirmed during the gasification at high temperatures. The structural evolution of the residual coke with different carbon conversions was examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and N2 adsorption analyses during gasification with and without the catalyst. The results showed that the carbon crystallite structure of the residual coke varied in the presence of the catalyst. As the carbon conversion increased, the structure of the residual coke without the catalyst became more ordered, and the number of aromatic rings decreased, while the graphitization degree of the residual coke in the presence of the catalyst decreased. Meanwhile, the surface area and pore volume of petroleum coke increased in the gasification process of the residual coke, irrespective of the presence of the catalyst. Land-use systems (LUSs) and soil types (STs) are strongly related to factors that influence soil degradation and carbon (C) loss. However, the way in which land use and soil type affects the soil organic C (SOC) pools, and soil aggregation in the Sanjiang Plain, has not been thoroughly investigated. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate soil physic–ochemical properties, soil aggregates, and C management index (CMI) in three different LUSs (grassland, dryland, and paddy field) under two STs (meadow soil and albic soil) of the Sanjiang Plain in northeast China. A total of 60 composite soil samples were collected for laboratory analyses. The results were as follows: soil properties were affected by LUS and ST, especially soil chemical properties; ST had no significant effect on soil aggregates but significantly affected its SOC content, while LUS had a significant effect on soil aggregates (p < 0.01), except for small macro-aggregates (2–0.25 mm); the mean weight diameter (MWD) and SOC in meadow soil was significantly different under different land uses, with grassland being the highest and dryland the lowest. However, there was no significant difference in albic soil. The heterogeneity of grassland, dryland, and paddy field showed that different LUSs had particular effects on SOC and its active components because LUS had significant effects on C pool index (CPI) and CMI, but ST and its interaction had no significant effects on CPI and CMI. Overall, the results showed that LUS was an important factor affecting CMI in the Sanjiang Plain, rather than ST, and the paddy field CMI was optimal in the Sanjiang Plain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Isatis tinctoria Linnaeus and Isatis indigotica Fortune are very inconsistent in their morphological characteristics, but the Flora of China treats them as the same species. In this work, a new technology that differs from conventional barcodes is developed to prove that they are different species and to clarify their classification. Results and methods: I. indigotica was indistinguishable from I. tinctoria when using ITS2. CPGAVAS2 was used to construct the chloroplast genomes. MAFFT and DnaSP were used to calculate nucleotide polymorphism, the chloroplast genomes of the two have high diversity in the rpl32 ~ trnL-UAG short region. When using this region as a mini barcode, it was found that there are obvious differences in the base numbers of I. tinctoria and different ploidy I. indigotica were found, but diploid and tetraploid I. indigotica had the same number of bases. Moreover, the reconstruction of the maximum likelihood (ML) tree, utilizing the mini-barcode, demonstrated that I. tinctoria and both diploid and tetraploid I. indigotica are located on distinct branches. The genome size of tetraploid I. indigotica was approximately 643.773 MB, the heterozygosity rate was approximately 0.98%, and the repeat sequence content was approximately 90.43%. This species has a highly heterozygous, extremely repetitive genome. Conclusion: A new method was established to differentiate between I. indigotica and I. tinctoria. Background: The incidence of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is on the rise, it has been a major public health problem and places a significant burden on healthcare systems. Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an increasingly popular form of renal replacement therapy. Patients undergoing dialysis treatment undergo specific pathophysiological and psychological changes. The aim of this systematic review is to investigate the experiences of ESRD patients receiving PD in order to gain deeper insights into their attitudes and beliefs towards this treatment. This will help researchers and health professionals to target interventions to improve the quality of life of PD patients. Design: Protocol for a qualitative systematic review. Methods: This systematic review protocol will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) meta-analysis methodology. We will conduct a comprehensive search, including English and Chinese databases. It will include all published qualitative studies of patients' experiences with PD. Both English and Chinese literature will be covered. Two reviewers will independently participate in the literature selection, document selection, and data extraction process. Synthesis will be carried out through in-depth reading of the original text and subsequent creation of similar categories. Results: Experiencing is a complex dimension that includes physical, psychological and social aspects. This review will enable nurses to gain a deeper understanding of the feelings and beliefs of patients with PD. Transition‐metal‐based layered double hydroxides (TM‐LDHs) nanosheets are promising electrocatalysts in the renewable electrochemical energy conversion system, which are regarded as alternatives to noble metal‐based materials. In this review, recent advances on effective and facile strategies to rationally design TM‐LDHs nanosheets as electrocatalysts, such as increasing the number of active sties, improving the utilization of active sites (atomic‐scale catalysts), modulating the electron configurations, and controlling the lattice facets, are summarized and compared. Then, the utilization of these fabricated TM‐LDHs nanosheets for oxygen evolution reaction, hydrogen evolution reaction, urea oxidation reaction, nitrogen reduction reaction, small molecule oxidations, and biomass derivatives upgrading is articulated through systematically discussing the corresponding fundamental design principles and reaction mechanism. Finally, the existing challenges in increasing the density of catalytically active sites and future prospects of TM‐LDHs nanosheets‐based electrocatalysts in each application are also commented. Phosphogypsum (PG) is a solid waste product generated during wet-process phosphoric acid production. Various impurities considerably reduce the purity, whiteness, and application range of PG. This article analyzes the physical properties of PG in detail and systematically examines the content and distribution of impurities. Based on the obtained results, a simple process for the efficient removal of almost all impurities in the PG is proposed. The purity and whiteness of the purified gypsum (CaSO4) significantly increased to 99% and 92%, respectively. The migration of impurities and the material balance of this process were then analyzed. Most importantly, the purified gypsum showed high CO2 sequestration efficiency for CO2 mineral sequestration, through which a high value-added CaCO3 product was obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Electrochemical oxidase biosensors have been widely applied in healthcare, environmental measurements and the biomedical field. However, the low and fluctuant oxygen levels in solution and the high anodic detection potentially restrict the assay accuracy. To address these problems, in this work, we constructed a three-phase interface enzyme electrode by sequentially immobilizing H2O2 electrocatalysts and an oxidase layer on a superhydrophobic laser-induced graphene (LIG) array substrate. The LIG-based enzyme electrode possesses a solid–liquid–air three-phase interface where constant and sufficient oxygen can be supplied from the air phase to the enzymatic reaction zone, which enhances and stabilizes the oxidase kinetics. We discovered that the enzymatic reaction rate is 21.2-fold improved over that of a solid–liquid diphase system where oxygen is supplied from the liquid phase, leading to a 60-times wider linear detection range. Moreover, the three-phase enzyme electrode can employ a cathodic measuring principle for oxidase catalytic product H2O2 detection, which could minimize interferences arising from oxidizable molecules in biofluids and increase the detection selectivity. Exosomes are nanoscale vesicles derived from endocytosis, formed by fusion of multivesicular bodies with membranes and secreted into the extracellular matrix or body fluids. Many studies have shown that exosomes can be present in a variety of biological fluids, such as plasma, urine, saliva, amniotic fluid, ascites, and sweat, and most types of cells can secrete exosomes. Exosomes play an important role in many aspects of human development, including immunity, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and neoplasia. Urine can be an alternative to blood or tissue samples as a potential source of disease biomarkers because of its simple, noninvasive, sufficient, and stable characteristics. Therefore, urinary exosomes have valuable potential for early screening, monitoring disease progression, prognosis, and treatment. The method for isolating urinary exosomes has been perfected, and exosome proteomics is widely used. [Display omitted] Silicon (Si), have been considered as promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), due to its high theoretical specific capacity of 4200 mAh g−1. However, the poor electrical conductivity and large volume change during lithiation/delithiation process, resulting in poor cycling stability, and seriously hindered the practical application in LIBs. Herein, a multiple Si/Fe x Si y @NC/CNTs composite is synthesized and investigated as advanced anode materials for LIBs via a simple one-step method. Such multiple Si/Fe x Si y @NC/CNTs composite has several merits including the Fe x Si y can not only accommodate the huge volume change of Si nanoparticles, but also enhance the conductivity upon discharge/charge process. Furthermore, the in-situ growth CNTs may help establish a long-range conductivity, and the Nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) layer can further improve the conductivity of Si, as well as inhibit the direct contract between electrolyte and Si during cycling process. Accordingly, the Si/Fe x Si y @NC/CNTs-1 exhibits excellent cycling stability (a high capacity of 994.4 mAh g−1 is maintained at 1.0 A g−1 after 600cycles) and outstanding rate capability (a suitable capacity of 441.7 mAh g−1 was obtained even at 5.0 A g−1). Moreover, the assembled full cell can achieve a capacity of 141.4 mAh g−1 after 65 cycles at 1.0C, exhibiting outstanding cycling stability. The functional group (FG) system sensu Colin S. Reynolds of freshwater phytoplankton has been widely applied in many aspects of freshwater ecological assessments. However, there is no current consensus as to how and to why some functional coda shows multiple habitat templates in different water bodies. To test whether there are multiple habitat templates for some functional coda in the FG system, we used two mesotrophic deep reservoirs in China as examples, analysing phytoplankton taxonomic and environmental data collected in 4 seasons over two years. Results showed that a large proportion of the indicators had similar habitat templates within the FG system, whilst some species had multiple or different habitat templates according to their niche differentiation. The random forest (RF) model filtered a minimum set of environmental conditions and provided two potential habitat templates for Oocystis lacustris. One explanatory habitat template of clear water provided by the FG system was verified in the Nanwan Reservoir, and the other habitat template of high dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) was found in the Nianyushan Reservoir. Ti3C2Tx (T = OH) was first prepared from Ti3AlC2 by HF etching and applied into a photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Then, the Ti3C2Tx nanosheets present interbedded a self-supporting structure and extended interlayer spacing. Meanwhile, the Ti3C2Tx nanosheets are decorated with abundant oxygen-containing functional groups in the process of etching, which not only serve as active sites but also show efficient charge migration and separation. Among Ti3C2Tx materials prepared by etching for different times, Ti3C2Tx-36 (Etching time: 36 h) showed the best performance for photoreduction of CO2 into alcohols (methanol and ethanol), giving total yield of 61 μmol g catal.−1, which is 2.8 times than that of Ti3AlC2. Moreover, excellent cycling stability for CO2 reduction is beneficial from the stable morphology and crystalline structure. Flavonoids and caffeine are the major secondary metabolites with beneficial bioactivity for human health in tea plants, and their biosynthesis pathway and regulatory networks have been well-deciphered. However, the accumulation traits of flavonoids and caffeine in different tea cultivars was insufficient in investigation. In this study, metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses were performed to investigate the differences of flavonoids and caffeine accumulation and regulation between Chinese varieties, including the 'BTSC' group with green leaf, the 'BTZY' group with purple foliage, and the 'MYC' group comprising Assam varieties with green leaf. The results showed that most of the flavonoids were down-regulated in the 'MYC' group; however, the total anthocyanin contents were higher than that of the 'BTSC' group while lower than that of the 'BTZY' group. An ANS (Anthocyanin synthase) was significantly up-regulated and supposed to play a key role for anthocyanin accumulation in the 'BTZY' group. In addition, the results showed that esterified catechins were accumulated in the 'BTSC' and 'BTZY' groups with high abundance. In addition, SCPL1A (Type 1A serine carboxypeptidase-like acyltransferases gene) and UGGT (UDP glucose: galloyl-1-O-β-d-glucosyltransferase gene) potentially contributed to the up-accumulation of catechins esterified by gallic acid. Interestingly, the results found that much lower levels of caffeine accumulation were observed in the 'MYC' group. RT-qPCR analysis suggested that the expression deficiency of TCS1 (Tea caffeine synthase 1) was the key factor resulting in the insufficient accumulation of caffeine in the 'MYC' group. Multiple MYB/MYB-like elements were discovered in the promoter region of TCS1 and most of the MYB genes were found preferentially expressed in 'MYC' groups, indicating some of which potentially served as negative factor(s) for biosynthesis of caffeine in tea plants. Depression is one of the most important mental illnesses and is closely related to inflammation. Betaine is a natural product with an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. However, the mechanism by which betaine ameliorates depression-like behaviors induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is poorly understood. The purpose of this study was to investigate the neuroprotective effect of betaine on LPS-induced depression-like behavior in mice and its mechanism of action. ICR mice were randomly divided into four groups: the control group, the LPS model group (0.83 mg/kg), the positive drug group (MIDO, 50 mg/kg), and the betaine group (5% and 1% in drinking water). The betaine group was administered for 21 days, and on the 22nd day, except for the blank group, LPS (0.83 mg/kg) was intraperitoneally injected to establish a lipopolysaccharide-induced mice depression-like model. Twenty-four hours after LPS injection, the tail suspension test (TST), open field test (OFT), and sucrose preference test (SPT) were performed to evaluate the effect of betaine on LPS-induced depressive behavior in mice. After the behavioral study, the mouse brain, hippocampus, and serum were taken for detection. The expressions of cytokines and inflammatory mediators were detected by ELISA, HE staining, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and western blotting. Western blotting was used to detect the protein expression levels of the nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3), caspase-1, and ASC, the protein expression levels of the microglial polarization markers COX-2, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and CD206. The results showed that betaine significantly ameliorated the depression-like behavior in LPS-induced mice, significantly attenuated the production of proinflammatory cytokines and increased the release of an anti-inflammatory cytokines. Betaine decreased the expression of the NLRP3 inflammasome, decreased the expression of M1 polarization markers, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), COX-2, and iNOS and promoted the expression of M2 polarization marker CD206. Our study suggests that betaine may promote the transition of microglia from the M1 to the M2 phenotype by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation, thereby attenuating lipopolysaccharide-induced depression-like behavior. Chitosan (CS) and pea protein isolate (PPI) were used as raw materials to prepare nanoparticles. The structures and functional properties of the nanoparticles with three ratios (1:1, 1:2 1:3, CS:PPI) were evaluated. The particle sizes of chitosan–pea protein isolate (CS–PPI) nanoparticles with the ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 were 802.95 ± 71.94, 807.10 ± 86.22, and 767.75 ± 110.10 nm, respectively, and there were no significant differences. Through the analysis of turbidity, endogenous fluorescence spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, the interaction between CS and PPI was mainly caused by electrostatic mutual attraction and hydrogen bonding. In terms of interface properties, the contact angles of nanoparticles with the ratio of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 were 119.2°, 112.3°, and 107.0°, respectively. The emulsifying activity (EAI) of the nanoparticles was related to the proportion of protein. The nanoparticle with the ratio of 1:1 had the highest potential and the best thermal stability. From the observation of their morphology by transmission electron microscopy, it could be seen that the nanoparticles with a ratio of 1:3 were the closest to spherical. This study provides a theoretical basis for the design of CS–PPI nanoparticles and their applications in promoting emulsion stabilization and the delivery of active substances using emulsions. Portal hypertension is a common manifestation in late-to-end-stage liver diseases and can cause severe complications such as ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, etc. However, an early diagnosis of portal hypertension is often difficult as it can be asymptomatic. Though the gold standard to diagnose portal hypertension is hepatic vein catheterization, ultrasound elastography is regarded as a noninvasive alternative that can be used to accurately predict portal hypertension and a few further complications such as gastro-esophageal varices. Since ultrasound elastography is available in most medical centers, and is cheaper and noninvasive, studying its function in predicting portal hypertension is of paramount importance. Therefore, this review generalized the results of recently published articles in order to establish the indicators that were related to diagnostic and prediction efficiency. Our study found that various technologies of ultrasound elastography could be used to predict portal hypertension with satisfactory diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and AUC. Rice growth is constantly challenged by severe environmental conditions, especially high-temperature stress, brought about by global warming. How to increase rice yields is a current issue in many countries. By analyzing the meteorological data from Anhui Province over the past 60 years, the frequency and level of high-temperature damage were comprehensively analyzed. On this basis, five indica rice varieties with strong high-temperature tolerance, relatively high yield and stable yield were selected by laboratory-simulated high-temperature and field high-temperature experiments: Longliangyou Huazan (LLYHZ), 9you-6 (9Y-6), Longliangyou-1988 (LLY-1988), Fengliangyou-4 (FLY-4) and Huanghuazan (HHZ). These are suitable for planting in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The Gibberellic Acid Stimulated Arabidopsis/Gibberellin Stimulated Transcript (GASA/GAST) gene family is a group of plant-specific genes encoding cysteine-rich peptides essential to plant growth, development, and stress responses. Although GASA family genes have been identified in various plant species, their functional roles in Prunus mume are still unknown. In this study, a total of 16 PmGASA genes were identified via a genome-wide scan in Prunus mume and were grouped into three major gene clades based on the phylogenetic tree. All PmGASA proteins possessed the conserved GASA domain, consisting of 12-cysteine residues, but varied slightly in protein physiochemical properties and motif composition. With evolutionary analysis, we observed that duplications and purifying selection are major forces driving PmGASA family gene evolution. By analyzing PmGASA promoters, we detected a number of hormonal-response related cis-elements and constructed a putative transcriptional regulatory network for PmGASAs. To further understand the functional role of PmGASA genes, we analyzed the expression patterns of PmGASAs across different organs and during various biological processes. The expression analysis revealed the functional implication of PmGASA gene members in gibberellic acid-, abscisic acid-, and auxin-signaling, and during the progression of floral bud break in P. mume. To summarize, these findings provide a comprehensive understanding of GASA family genes in P. mume and offer a theoretical basis for future research on the functional characterization of GASA genes in other woody perennials. Objective. To investigate the expression of ATPase family AAA domain-containing protein 2 (ATAD2) and kinesin family member 4A (KIF4A) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tissues and their association with clinicopathological features and to explore the role of ATAD2 in regulating KIF4A expression and biological functions in ESCC cells and the effect of aspirin on their expression. Methods. The mRNA and protein expression of ATAD2 and KIF4A in the tissues of patients with ESCC were measured by RT-qPCR and immunohistochemistry, and the correlation between the expression of mRNA and clinicopathological characteristics was analyzed. Western blot and RT-qPCR were used to detect the interference efficiency and KIF4A expression after si-ATAD2 transfection in EC109 and KYSE30 cells. CCK-8 and Transwell assay were performed to investigate the effects of ATAD2 and aspirin on proliferation, migration, and invasion of ESCC cells. The effect of aspirin on the expression of ATAD2 and KIF4A in ESCC cells was measured by RT-qPCR and Western blot. Results. The expression of ATAD2 and KIF4A was upregulated in ESCC tissues, and both were correlated with the differentiation grades and lymph node metastasis. Knockdown of ATAD2 in ESCC cells significantly inhibited cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Compared to the negative control group, the proliferation, migration, and invasion ability of ESCC cells in the aspirin-treated groups were decreased, and the expression of ATAD2 and KIF4A in ESCC cells was decreased after treating with aspirin for 48 h. Conclusion. The expression levels of ATAD2 and KIF4A are elevated in ESCC. ATAD2 promotes proliferation, migration, and invasion of ESCC cells by regulating KIF4A. Distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) is a new exploration technology widely used to acquire vertical seismic profiles (VSPs). DAS can achieve low-cost and high-density observations, but the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the VSP data collected by DAS is low compared with traditional electrical geophones. Moreover, DAS VSP data cover many types of noise, including random noise, fading noise, checkerboard noise, and long-period noise. These noises bring many difficulties to the imaging and interpretation of DAS VSP data. To solve this problem, we proposed a multistage denoising network (MSDN) to denoise DAS VSP data. MSDN is a progressive denoising network consisting of four stages. MSDN can recover the signal details better than a single-stage denoising network, which is beneficial when processing deep reflection signals. In addition, MSDN combines residual structure and an attention mechanism. The residual structure can prevent the degradation of the deep neural network, while the attention mechanism can make the network focus on effective signals, making network learning more accurate and efficient. Both synthetic data and field data denoising results showed that MSDN could effectively remove various complex noises and restore signals covered by noise. Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory response mediated by various factors, where epigenetic regulation involving histone deacetylation is envisaged to modulate the expression of related proteins by regulating the binding of transcription factors to DNA, thereby influencing the development of atherosclerosis. The mechanism of atherosclerosis by histone deacetylation is partly known; hence, this project aimed at investigating the role of histone deacetylase 9 (HDAC9) in atherosclerosis. For this purpose, serum was separated from blood samples following clotting and centrifugation from atherosclerotic and healthy patients (n = 40 each), and then, various tests were performed. The results indicated that toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) was not only positively correlated to the HDAC9 gene, but was also upregulated in atherosclerosis, where it was also significantly upregulated in the atherosclerosis cell model of oxidized low-density lipoprotein-induced macrophages. Conversely, the TLR4 was significantly downregulated in instances of loss of HDAC9 function, cementing the bridging relationship between HDAC9 and macrophage polarization, where the HDAC9 was found to upregulate M1 macrophage polarization which translated into the release of higher content of proinflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1beta (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), which tend to significantly decrease following the deletion of TLR4. In this paper, we present a three-order, divergence-free finite volume scheme to simulate the steady state solar wind ambient. The divergence-free condition of the magnetic field is preserved by the constrained transport (CT) method. The CT method can keep the magnetic fields divergence free if the magnetic fields is divergence free initially. Thus, a least-squares reconstruction of magnetic field with the divergence free constraints is used to make the magnetic fields global solenoidality initially. High order spatial accuracy is obtained through a non-oscillatory hierarchical reconstruction, while a high order time discretization is achieved using a three-order Runge–Kutta scheme. This new model of three order in space and time is validated by numerical results for Carrington rotation 2207. The numerical results show its capability for producing stable reliable results for structured solar wind. Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) is widely used as a food ingredient. Rosemary extract (containing 40% carnosic acid) exhibited potent antiobesity activity. However, the relationship between carnosic acid (CA) and changes in the gut microbiota of high‐fat diet (HFD)‐induced obese mice has not been fully investigated. C57BL/6 mice were fed a normal diet, an HFD, or an HFD containing 0.1% or 0.2% CA for 10 weeks. CA exhibited promising antiobesity effects and caused marked alterations in the gut microbiota of HFD‐induced obese mice. CA caused the prevalence of probiotics and functional bacteria, including Akkermansia muciniphila, Muribaculaceae unclassified, and Clostridium innocuum group, and inhibited diabetes‐sensitive bacteria, including Proteobacteria and Firmicutes. The ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes was regulated by CA in a dose‐dependent manner, decreasing it from 13.22% to 2.42%. Additionally, CA reduced bile acid‐metabolizing bacteria, such as Bilophila, Clostridium, Lactobacillus, and Leuconostoc. The results of the linear discriminant analysis and effect size analysis indicated that CA attenuated the microbial changes caused by HFD. The high CA (HCA) group (HFD containing 0.2% CA) exhibited a greater abundance of Verrucomicrobiae (including Akkermansia muciniphila, genus Akkermansia, family Akkermansiaceae, and order Verrucomicrobiales), Eubacterium, and Erysipelatoclostridium, and the low CA (LCA) group (HFD containing 0.1% CA) exhibited a greater abundance of Eisenbergiella, Intestinimonas, and Ruminococcaceae. Background: Major depressive disorder is characterized by not only monoamine neurotransmitters deficiencies but also persistent neuroinflammation. The complement system is an attractive therapeutic target for various inflammation-related diseases due to its early activation in inflammatory processes. Results: In the present study, the dynamic alteration of complement C3 and its receptor C3aR during the occurrence of depression and the mechanism of astrocyte-microglia IL-1R/C3/C3aR on synaptic pruning were investigated. The proteomic analysis firstly showed that chronic stress caused an elevation of C3. GO analysis indicated that complement system-mediated synaptic pruning signaling was involved in depression. The dynamic observation indicated that C3/C3aR was activated in the early onset and throughout the course of depression induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and chronic stress. In contrast, C3aR blockade inhibited the hyperactivation of microglial APT2/DHHC7 palmitoylation cycle, which mediated the translocation of STAT3 and the expression of proinflammatory cytokines. Meanwhile, C3aR blockade also attenuated the synaptic pruning and enhanced the synaptogenesis in the prefrontal cortex of mice. Moreover, the blockade of IL-1R/NF-κB signaling pathway reduced the release of C3 from astrocyte. Conclusions: The current study demonstrates that astrocyte-microglia IL-1R/C3/C3aR activation causes the abnormal synaptic pruning in depression, and suggests that the activation of complement C3/C3aR may be particularly helpful in predicting the onset stage of depression. Objective: The role of biomarkers in the early diagnosis and prognosis prediction of tumors has been paid more and more attention by researchers. Mucins are markers that have been found to have an abnormal expression in many tumors in recent years, which have been proved to have a predictive effect on the prognosis of tumors such as cholangiocarcinoma and colon cancer. However, whether it can predict the prognosis of pancreatic cancer remains unknown. The purpose of our study is to investigate whether the mucins and their subtypes are related to the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer. Methods: We systematically searched the Pubmed, Embase, and Cochrane Library for all eligible studies on the relationship between mucin and the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer up to November 2021. We used R 4.12 to calculate the combined risk ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). For studies that did not provide HR values, we used scientific methods to calculate their values as accurately as possible. We used fixed effect model due to low heterogeneity. Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were used to study heterogeneity. The funnel plot and Egger test were used to test whether the publication bias existed. The trim and filling method were used to evaluate the impact of publication bias on the results of the study. Results: A total of 18 studies were included in this meta-analysis, including 4 subtypes of mucin family members and 1643 patients. There was a slight heterogeneity between studies (I2 = 24.4%, P = 0.14). Meta-analysis showed that MUC4 (HR = 2.04, 95%CI 1.21;3.45), MUC16 (HR = 2.10, 95%CI 1.31;3.37), and whole mucin (HR = 1.32, 95%CI 1.07;1.63). The expression level was negatively correlated with the prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients, MUC1 (HR = 1.09, 95%CI 0.77;1.54), MUC5 (HR = 1.03, 95%CI 0.47;2.25) The expression level was not related to the prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients. Conclusion: The meta-analysis demonstrated that the overall expression level of mucin and the expression levels of MUC4 and MUC16 were important prognostic predictors for pancreatic cancer patients. MUC1 and MUC5 had no predictive value for the prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients. Future studies should validate these and other promising biomarkers. Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for the majority of liver cancer cases, while metastasis is considered the leading cause of HCC-related death. However, the currently available treatment strategies for efficient suppression of metastasis are limited. Therefore, novel therapeutic targets to inhibit metastasis and effectively treat HCC are urgently required. Methods: Wound healing and Transwell assays were used to determine the migration and invasion abilities of HCC cells in vitro. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), protein array, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation experiments were used to study the mechanism of DYRK1A-mediated metastasis. A tail vein metastasis model and H&E staining were utilized to assess metastatic potential in vivo. Results: The results of the current study demonstrated that dual-specificity tyrosine phosphorylation-regulated kinase 1A (DYRK1A) was upregulated in HCC tissues compared with normal liver tissues. Additionally, the level of DYRK1A was increased in primary HCC tissues of patients with metastasis compared with those of patients without metastasis, and DYRK1A overexpression correlated with worse outcomes in liver cancer patients. Gain- and loss-of-function studies suggested that DYRK1A enhanced the invasion and migration abilities of HCC cells by promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Regarding the promoting effect of DYRK1A on cell invasion, the results showed that DYRK1A was coexpressed with TGF-β/SMAD and STAT3 signalling components in clinical tumour samples obtained from patients with HCC. DYRK1A also activated TGF-β/SMAD signalling by interacting with tuberous sclerosis 1 (TSC1) and enhanced metastasis of HCC cells by activating STAT3. Furthermore, DYRK1A promoted EMT by cooperatively activating STAT3/SMAD signalling. Conclusion: Overall, the present study not only uncovered the promoting effect of DYRK1A on HCC metastasis and revealed the mechanism but also provided a new approach to predict and treat metastatic HCC. In this study, we applied the difference-in-differences method to examine the impact of the Broadband China Strategy on corporate digitalization and its heterogeneity using the data from Chinese listed firms from 2010 to 2020. The results show that the improvement in network infrastructure plays a vital role in promoting company digitization; this improvement is extremely varied due to variances in market demand and endowments. Non-state-owned firms, businesses in the eastern area, and technology-intensive businesses have profited the most. Among the five types of digitization, artificial intelligence and cloud computing are top priorities for enterprises. Excessive release of cytokines such as IL-1β and other inflammatory mediators synthesized and secreted by macrophages is the fundamental link of uncontrolled inflammatory response in sepsis. 17β-Estradiol (E2) plays anti-inflammatory and vascular protective effects by regulating leukocyte infiltration and the expression of chemokines or cytokines induced by injury. However, the role of E2 in the inflammatory response of macrophages in sepsis and its mechanism are still not fully understood. In the present study, we show that E2 alleviates vascular inflammation in sepsis mice induced by cecal ligation puncture (CLP). E2 significantly decreases RAW 264.7 cell inflammation response by downregulating the expression of NLRP3. Furthermore, we found that miR-29a-5p was significantly downregulated in LPS-treated macrophages. Treating RAW 264.7 cells with E2 markedly upregulated the miR-29a-5p expression level. More importantly, we demonstrated that miR-29a-5p repressed NLRP3 expression by directly targeting its 3 ′ -UTR. Loss- and gain-of-function experiments revealed that transfection of the miR-29a-5p mimic abrogates LPS-induced macrophage inflammation. Moreover, depletion of miR-29a-5p by its inhibitor largely promotes LPS-induced macrophage inflammation. In summary, miR-29a-5p upregulation induced by E2 alleviated RAW 264.7 cell inflammation response by aggravating miR-29a-5p repression of NLRP3 expression. E2 exerts significant anti-inflammatory efficacy in macrophages by regulating the miR-29a-5p/NLRP3 axis. Simple Summary: Histotripsy is a novel technique that mechanically disrupts tumors, through precisely controlled acoustic cavitation. There is insufficient evidence regarding the effects of histotripsy on the risk of recurrence and metastases, following tumor debulking. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of partial histotripsy tumor ablation (~50–75% tumor volume targeted) on untargeted tumor progression, survival outcomes, risk of metastases and immune infiltration, in an orthotopic, immunocompetent, metastatic rodent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) model. Even with partial ablation, complete local tumor regression was observed in 81% of treatment rats, with no recurrence or metastasis. In contrast, 100% of the untreated control animals showed local tumor progression and intrahepatic metastases. Histotripsy-treated animals had statistically significant improved survival outcomes compared to controls (p-value < 0.0001). Histotripsy-treated animals had increased immune infiltration, as compared to controls, which may have contributed to the eventual regression of the untargeted tumor region in partial histotripsy-treated tumors. Histotripsy has been used for tumor ablation, through controlled, non-invasive acoustic cavitation. This is the first study to evaluate the impact of partial histotripsy ablation on immune infiltration, survival outcomes, and metastasis development, in an in vivo orthotopic, immunocompetent rat HCC model (McA-RH7777). At 7–9 days post-tumor inoculation, the tumor grew to 5–10 mm, and ~50–75% tumor volume was treated by ultrasound-guided histotripsy, by delivering 1–2 cycle histotripsy pulses at 100 Hz PRF (focal peak negative pressure P– >30 MPa), using a custom 1 MHz transducer. Complete local tumor regression was observed on MRI in 9/11 histotripsy-treated rats, with no local recurrence or metastasis up to the 12-week study end point, and only a <1 mm residual scar tissue observed on histology. In comparison, 100% of untreated control animals demonstrated local tumor progression, developed intrahepatic metastases, and were euthanized at 1–3 weeks. Survival outcomes in histotripsy-treated animals were significantly improved compared to controls (p-value < 0.0001). There was evidence of potentially epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in control tumor and tissue healing in histotripsy-treated tumors. At 2- and 7-days post-histotripsy, increased immune infiltration of CD11b+, CD8+ and NK cells was observed, as compared to controls, which may have contributed to the eventual regression of the untargeted tumor region in histotripsy-treated tumors. Verticillium wilt (VW), a fungal disease caused by Verticillium dahliae, currently devastates cotton fiber yield and quality seriously, yet few resistance germplasm resources have been discovered in Gossypium hirsutum. The cotton variety Nongda601 with suitable VW resistance and high yield was developed in our lab, which supplied elite resources for discovering resistant genes. Early nodulin-like protein (ENODL) is mainly related to nodule formation, and its role in regulating defense response has been seldom studied. Here, 41 conserved ENODLs in G. hirsutum were identified and characterized, which could divide into four subgroups. We found that GhENODL6 was upregulated under V. dahliae stress and hormonal signal and displayed higher transcript levels in resistant cottons than the susceptible. The GhENODL6 was proved to positively regulate VW resistance via overexpression and gene silencing experiments. Overexpression of GhENODL6 significantly enhanced the expressions of salicylic acid (SA) hormone-related transcription factors and pathogenicity-related (PR) protein genes, as well as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and SA contents, resulting in improved VW resistance in transgenic Arabidopsis. Correspondingly, in the GhENODL6 silenced cotton, the expression levels of both phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) and 4-coumarate-CoA ligase (4CL) genes significantly decreased, leading to the reduced SA content mediating by the phenylalanine ammonia lyase pathway. Taken together, GhENODL6 played a crucial role in VW resistance by inducing SA signaling pathway and regulating the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The effect of the doping amount of Eu 2 O 3 on the densification behaviour of magnesium aluminate spinel (MAS) and its corrosion resistance to aluminium electrolyte were studied. The relative density, phase composition, micro morphology and hardness of the sintered samples were characterised by Archimedes' drainage method, X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope and automatic micro Vickers hardness tester. Results showed that the doping of Eu 2 O 3 was conducive to the densification of MgAl 2 O 4. When the content of Eu 2 O 3 was 3 wt.%, the relative density of MAS was the largest (99.32%), the microstructure was more compact and the hardness was the largest (2293.4 kgf/mm2). ZrO2‐based ceramics are widely used in biomedical applications due to its color, biocompatibility, and excellent mechanical properties. However, low‐temperature degradation (LTD) introduces a potential risk for long‐term reliability of these materials. The development of innovative nondestructive techniques, which can explore LTD in zirconia‐derived compounds, is strongly required. Yttria stabilized zirconia, 3Y‐TZP, is one of the well‐developed ZrO2‐based ceramics with improved resistance to LTD for dental crown and implant applications. Here, 3Y‐TZP ceramic powders were pressed and sintered to study the LTD phenomenon by phase transition behavior. The LTD‐driven tetragonal‐to‐monoclinic phase transition was confirmed by XRD. XPS analysis demonstrated that induced LTD reduced the oxygen vacancies which supports these findings. It is proved that after the degradation, the 3Y‐TZP ceramics show the decreased dielectric permittivity at terahertz frequencies due to the crystallographic phase transformation. Plasmodium vivax Merozoite Surface Protein 8 (PvMSP8) is a promising candidate target for the development of multi-component vaccines. Therefore, determining the genetic variation pattern of Pvmsp8 is essential in providing a reference for the rational design of the P. vivax malaria vaccines. This study delves into the genetic characteristics of the Pvmsp8 gene, specifically focusing on samples from the China-Myanmar border (CMB) region, and contrasts these findings with broader global patterns. The study uncovers that Pvmsp8 exhibits a notable level of conservation across different populations, with limited polymorphisms and relatively low nucleotide diversity (0.00023–0.00120). This conservation contrasts starkly with the high polymorphisms found in other P. vivax antigens such as Pvmsp1. A total of 25 haplotypes and 14 amino acid mutation sites were identified in the global populations, and all mutation sites were confined to non-functional regions. The study also notes that most CMB Pvmsp8 haplotypes are shared among Burmese, Cambodian, Thai, and Vietnamese populations, indicating less geographical variance, but differ notably from those found in Pacific island regions or the Panama. The findings underscore the importance of considering regional genetic diversity in P. vivax when developing targeted malaria vaccines. Non departure from neutral evolution were found by Tajima's D test, however, statistically significant differences were observed between the kn/ks rates. The study's findings are crucial in understanding the evolution and population structure of the Pvmsp8 gene, particularly during regional malaria elimination efforts. The highly conserved nature of Pvmsp8 , combined with the lack of mutations in its functional domain, presents it as a promising candidate for developing a broad and effective P. vivax vaccine. [Display omitted] Metal sulfides (MSs) have attracted much attention as anode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) due to their high sodium storage capacity. However, the unsatisfactory electrochemical performance induced by the huge volume change and sluggish kinetics hampered the practical application of SIBs. Herein, guided by the heterostructure interface engineering, novel multicomponent metal sulfide-based anodes, including SnS, FeS, and Fe 3 N embedded in N -doped carbon nanosheets (SnS/FeS/Fe 3 N/NC NSs), have been synthesized for high-performance SIBs. The as-prepared SnS/FeS/Fe 3 N/NC NSs with abundant heterointerfaces and high conductivity of N -doped carbon nanosheet matrix can shorten the Na+ diffusion path and promote reaction kinetics during the sodiation/desodiation process. Moreover, the presence of Fe 3 N can promote the reversible conversion of SnS and FeS during the cycling process. As a consequence, when evaluated as anode materials for SIBs, the SnS/FeS/Fe 3 N/NC NSs can maintain a high sodium storage capacity of 473.6 mAh g-1 after 600 cycles at 2.0 A g-1 and can still provide a high reversible capacity of 537.4 mAh g-1 even at 5.0 A g-1 This discovery offers a novel strategy for constructing metal sulfide-based anode materials for high-performance SIBs. Lignin, as an abundant natural aromatic biopolymer, has a complex structure and poor solubility in most solvents, making it difficult to achieve high-value applications and becoming the largest "natural waste". In this work, two novel ternary deep eutectic solvents (DESs) consisting of choline chloride (ChCl)/lactic acid (LA) with ethylene glycol (EG) or γ-valerolactone (GVL) were designed for separating lignin from waste wheat straw. Results showed that the delignification efficiency of wheat straw treated with two ternary DESs (ChCl-LA-EG and ChCl-LA-GVL) was twice as high as that treated with ChCl-LA under mild conditions (90 °C, 4 h). The highest delignification efficiency of 83.12% was achieved by ChCl-LA-GVL treatment at 130 °C for 4 h. Moreover, ternary DESs extracted lignin exhibited lower molecular weight, better homogeneity, and remarkably higher antioxidant activities than that extracted from ChCl-LA. Furthermore, ternary DESs extracted lignin had more S units and inhibited the destruction of the lignin substructure at high temperature. Compared with ChCl-LA treatment, cellulose fiber treated with ChCl-LA-EG and ChCl-LA-GVL had less active sites, lower total surface energy, and more alkaline (electron donor) adsorption sites on cellulose fiber surface. Theory calculations further confirm that the addition of EG and GVL changes the hydrogen bond strength and electrostatic potential of the ChCl-LA system, thus promoting the separation of lignin. These results provide new insights for understanding the mechanism of lignin dissolution in DESs and for the design of advanced DESs for lignocellulosic biomass separation and valorization. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the most common ocular fundus disease in diabetic patients. Chronic hyperglycemia not only promotes the development of diabetes and its complications, but also aggravates the occurrence of senescence. Previous studies have shown that DR is associated with senescence, but the specific mechanism has not been fully elucidated. Here, we first detected the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and cellular senescence level of db/db mouse retinas by bulk RNA sequencing. Then, we used single-cell sequencing (scRNA-seq) to identify the main cell types in the retina and analyzed the DEGs in each cluster. We demonstrated that p53 expression was significantly increased in retinal endothelial cell cluster of db/db mice. Inhibition of p53 can reduce the expression of SA-β-Gal and the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) in HRMECs. Finally, we found that p53 can promote FoxO3a ubiquitination and degradation by increasing the expression of the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme UBE2L6. Overall, our results demonstrate that p53 can accelerate the senescence process of endothelial cells and aggravate the development of DR. Direct air capture (DAC) technology plays a crucial role in mitigating the effects of global warming by capturing carbon dioxide (CO 2) directly from the atmosphere. A significant technical challenge for DAC is its high thermal energy consumption, which results in an unacceptable overall cost (600 $ t CO 2 – 1). The combination of a high-temperature heat pump (HTHP) and DAC system offers a substantial reduction in thermal energy consumption, decreased reliance on renewable energy sources, and enhanced DAC system flexibility. This study presents three distinct thermal integration strategies that combine an HTHP with solid adsorbent-based DAC and verifies their effectiveness in reducing energy consumption and CO 2 emissions compared to a traditional DAC system. Among them, the deeply integrated DAC-HTHP system (I-DAC) exploits low-grade adsorption heat and waste heat, providing direct heating and cooling energy to the DAC system via refrigerant condensation and evaporation processes. Simulation results indicate that the I-DAC system achieves an extremely low operating energy consumption of 2.77 GJ t CO 2 – 1 , representing a 69.5% reduction than traditional DAC under the same conditions. Consequently, the I-DAC offers a cost-effective (32.0–46.2 $ t CO 2 – 1) negative emission solution. We also demonstrate that the I-DAC is promising for wide application in cities to recycle waste heat and remove CO 2 from the air. Using network pharmacology and molecular docking, this study investigated the molecular mechanisms by which the active components in Salvia miltiorrhiza can alleviate acute pancreatitis. Initially, the active components of Salvia miltiorrhiza and the targets collected from the GeneCards database were screened based on the platform of systematic pharmacology analysis of traditional Chinese medicine. Subsequently, the active components were intersected with the disease targets. Also, interactions among the targets were computed using the STRING database. Biological function and pathway enrichment were analyzed using the Cluster Profiler package in the R software. Protein-protein interaction and component target pathway network were constructed using the Cytoscape software. Ultimately, the key targets and their corresponding components in the network were verified using the AutoDock Vina software. The results showed Salvia miltiorrhiza had 111 targets for acute pancreatitis. The biological process (BP) analysis showed that the active components of Salvia miltiorrhiza induced a drug response, positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II promoter, signal transduction, positive regulation of cell proliferation, and negative regulation of apoptosis. Furthermore, the KEGG enrichment analysis screened 118 (P < 0.05) signaling pathways, such as the pathways related to cancer, neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, and cAMP signaling pathway, to name a few. Finally, molecular docking showed that the active components of Salvia miltiorrhiza had a good binding affinity with their corresponding target proteins. Through network pharmacology, this study predicted the potential pharmacodynamic material basis and the mechanisms by which Salvia miltiorrhiza can treat acute pancreatitis. Background: Effective and applicable predictors of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are needed for the non-obese Chinese population. This study was undertaken to investigate: whether serum gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) was associated with incident NAFLD in the non-obese Chinese population. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study that enrolled 33,153 initially NAFLD-free individuals who underwent a health examination in Wenzhou Medical Center of Wenzhou People's Hospital from January 2010 to December 2014. Serum GGT levels at the time of enrollment were evaluated in 11,906 persons who follow-up. The relationship between GGT levels and incident NAFLD was analyzed using Cox regression and generalized additive models after adjusting for demographic and clinical variables. In addition, Subgroup analysis was conducted, which was explored by Cox proportional hazard models. It was stated that the data had been downloaded from the DATADRYAD website. Results: Multivariable Cox regression models were used to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) for GGT with incident NAFLD after adjusted demographic and clinical variables (HR, 1.010; 95% CI, 1.007–1.012; P < 0.001). The incident NAFLD in the highest quartile of GGT levels was 3.653 times as high (95% confidence interval, 2.915 to 4.579) as that the lowest quartile. A non-linear relationship was firstly detected between GGT and incidence of NAFLD, which had an inflection point of GGT was 26 U/L. The effect sizes and the confidence intervals on the left and right sides of the inflection point were 1.104 (1.089–1.120) and 1.001 (0.999–1.004), respectively. In subgroup analyses, the hazard ratio for incident NAFLD remained consistent across subgroups. Conclusions: In conclusion, the GGT level in the non-obese Chinese population was statistically significantly associated with incident NAFLD. The relationship between GGT level and incident NAFLD is non-linear. When GGT level is less than 26 U/L, GGT was strong positively with incident NAFLD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we use two injection methods, i.e., coronal mass ejection (CME) with and without radial compression, to investigate the propagation of the 2007 November 15 CME in the inner heliosphere with a three-dimensional, time-dependent, numerical magnetohydrodynamic model. In order to reproduce the large-scale interplanetary magnetic field associated with the CME, the spheromak model is used to provide the intrinsic magnetic field structure of the CME. The modeled results also suggest that the CME without radial compression propagates in interplanetary space with a lower velocity and arrives at 1 au later. We interpret these differences as a result of different Lorentz forces acting on the two injection methods, which lead to different CME expansions in the heliosphere. Additionally, the model of a CME without radial compression tends to overestimate the radial extension at 1 au due to an overestimation of the CME radial size in the simulation and the modeled magnetic fields at 1 au are lower compared to the model of a CME with radial compression. An attempt is made to model the three-dimensional global structures and temporal variations of the ionospheric electron density (Ne) using the radio occultation (RO) Ne profile data obtained by the COSMIC/FORMOSAT-3, CHAMP and GRACE missions during the period from July 2006 to June 2017. The modeling technique we adopted is based on the empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis of the RO Ne dataset which is binned with grids of 2.5° in geomagnetic latitudes and 1/3 hr in geomagnetic local time (equivalent to 5° in geomagnetic longitudes) and 10 km in height. The EOF analysis decomposed the binned (gridded) Ne dataset into a series of eigen modes or basis functions (E i) representing the variations with geomagnetic latitude, geomagnetic local time as well as height and the associated EOF amplitude coefficients (A i) representing the variations with seasons as well as solar cycle activity. Our results showed that the EOF components (E i , A i) obtained by the EOF decomposition have different three-dimensional spatial structures with distinct features attributable to different factors or processes controlling the variations of the ionosphere: the first EOF component represents mainly the global mean structure of Ne and its temporal variation with seasons and solar cycle activity; the second EOF component represents mainly the seasonal control of the solar zenith angle on the ionosphere; the third EOF component is representative of the uplifting or lowering of the peak height where Ne reaches its maximum value; the fourth and fifth EOF components represent respectively the variations of the thickness of the ionosphere in the southern and northern hemispheres. It is found that the obtained eigen series converges quickly, with the first five EOF components contributing as high as 98% of the variances of the Ne dataset. We then modeled the EOF coefficients A i obtained by the EOF decomposition using the harmonic functions representing the annual and semi-annual variations, with the solar cycle dependences being taken into account by including the changes of the harmonic amplitudes with the solar irradiance flux index F10.7. The Ne model is constructed using the A i thus modeled and E i obtained by the EOF decomposition. Comparison between the Ne model output results and the COSMIC-2 observational data showed that the modeled results capture well the global structures of the observational data and the model output results have very high linear correlation coefficients with the observational ones (R > 0.9), justifying the modeling technique used in our present study.
