A cobalt complex constructed by the ligand(L): 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde [Co(C8H7O3)2(H2O)2] has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The cobalt(II) atom is six-coordinate in a distorted octahedral geometry, intermolecular O-H•••O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of a two-dimensional supramolecular network along ab plane. Its thermal stability was determined by TGA/DSC. Its two-photon absorption (TPA) cross-section σ2value and second hyperpolarizability γ value were determined to be 1.59 × 10−53(m4· s/photon · molecule) and 1.06 × 10−56(C · m4/V3) by Z-scan technique with 20 picosecond (ps) pulses at wavelength 1064 nm. Abstract: Six new triorganotin(IV) complexes, [R3Sn(O2SeC6H4Cl)] n (R=Me 1; Ph 2), [R3Sn(O2SeC6H4Me)] n (R=Me 3; Ph 4), [R3Sn(O2SeC6H4Bu)] n (R=Me 5; Ph 6) have been synthesized by the reaction of 4-chlorobenzeneseleninic acid, p-Tolueneseleninic acid, and 4-tert-butylbenzeneseleninic acid with triorganotin(IV) chloride in the presence of sodium ethoxide. All of the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, NMR (1H, 13C, and 119Sn) spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography. Crystal structures show that all of the complexes exhibit 1D infinite chain structures which are generated by the bidentate oxygen atoms and the five-coordinated tin centers. Abstract: A series of new triorganotin(IV) pyridinecarboxylates with 6-hydroxynicotinic acid (6-OH-3-nicH), 5-hydroxynicotinic acid (5-OH-3-nicH) and 2-hydroxyisonicotinic acid (2-OH-4-isonicH) of the types: [R3Sn (6-OH-3-nic)·L] n (I) (R=Ph, L=Ph·EtOH, 1; R=Bn, L=H2O·EtOH, 2; R=Me, L=0, 3; R= n-Bu, L=0, 4), [R3Sn (5-OH-3-nic)] n (II) (R=Ph, 5; R=Bn, 6; R=Me, 7; R= n-Bu, 8), [R3Sn (2-OH-4-isonic·L)] n (III) (R=Bn, 9, L=MeOH; R=Me, L=0, 10; R=Ph, 11, L=0.5EtOH) have been synthesized. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, TGA, IR and NMR (1H, 13C, 119Sn) spectroscopy analyses. Among them, except for complexes 5 and 6, all complexes were also characterized by X-ray crystallography diffraction analysis. Crystal structures show that complexes 1–10 adopt 1D infinite chain structures which are generated by the bidentate O, O or N, O and the five-coordinated tin centers. Significant O–H⋯O, and N–H⋯O intermolecular hydrogen bonds stabilize these structures. Complex 11 is a 42-membered macrocycle containing six tin atoms, and forms a 2D network by intermolecular N–H⋯O hydrogen. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: A series of new organotin carboxylates have been synthesized by reactions of trans(cis)-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid with triorganotin chloride and diorganotin dichloride. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 119Sn NMR spectroscopy; furthermore, complexes 1, 3, 5, 8 and 9 were characterized by X-ray diffraction analyses. The structural analyses show that complex 1 possesses a monomer structure; complex 5 possesses a 1D zigzag chain structure; both the complexes 3 and 8 have 2D network structures and complex 9 has a tetratin 36-membered macrocyclic structure. Four triorganotin(IV) complexes constructed from tetrafluorophthalic acid (H2tfp) with a 1 : 1 : 1 molar ratio of H2tfp: Et3N: R3SnCl gave two of type {[R3Sn (tfp)].Et3NH}4 (R = Me 1, R = n-Bu 2), and two of type [R3Sn (tfp).Et3NH]n (R = PhCH2 3, Ph 4). All the complexes are characterized by elemental, IR, 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR analyses. Complexes 1 and 4 were also confirmed by X-ray crystallography. Complex 1 is tetranuclear with a 28-membered C16O8Sn4 macrocyclic ring system with a cavity. The supramolecular structure of 1 has been found to consist of a three-dimensional network built up by intermolecular N-H ··· O, C-H ··· O hydrogen bonds and C-F ··· F weak interactions. Complex 4 is an infinite polymeric structure. The triethylammonium dicarboxylatotriorganostannates, [(C2H5)3NH][R3Sn(3,5-pdc)] · mH2O (3,5-pdc = 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylate) (m = 1, R = Me 1; m = 0, R = Ph 2, PhCH23, n-Bu 4), [(C2H5)3NH][R3Sn(5-nip)] (5-nip = 5-nitroisophthalate) (R = Me 5, Ph 6, PhCH27,n-Bu 8) have been prepared from triethylamine, 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid, 5-nitroisophthalic acid and triorganotin chloride. Complexes 1–8 have been characterized by elemental, IR, 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR analyses. Complexes 1, 2, 5 and 6 are also determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. For 1, 2, 5 and 6, each carboxylate moiety is involved in coordination to a tin center via only one O atom showing that the Sn atoms are five-coordinate and exist in trigonal bipyramidal geometries. Moreover, for 2, 5 and 6, the nitrogen atoms of ammonium are hydrogen bonded to the pendant carboxyl oxygen. In 1, adjacent polymeric chains and triethylammonium are linked by hydrogen bonds through the co-crystallized water molecule, thus a 2D network is formed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The diorganotin(IV) complexes, [R2Sn(Rd)(μ-OH)]2 (R = Me (1), PhCH2 (2), n-Bu (3), Ph (4); HRd = rhodanine), have been synthesized and characterized by IR and multinuclear (1H, 13C, 119Sn) NMR spectroscopy. The structures of complexes 2 and 3 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both crystal structures of 2 and 3 show the presence of asymmetrically bridging hydroxy groups leading to an Sn2O2 unit. Each atom in complex 1 is also coordinated by an N atom of ligand and two C atoms of the alkyl groups, so the Sn environment is based on a trigonal bipyramid. While in complex 2, a weak intermolecular Sn–O interaction has also been found between the two adjacent molecules, so the geometry of the Sn atom can be best described as six-coordinate octahedral. The salient feature of the supramolecular structure of complex 3 is that of a 1D polymer, in which the discrete molecules are connected through weak intermolecular Sn ··· O interactions. Abstract: A copper complex constructed by the ligand: 1,3-dithiole-2-thione-4,5-dithiolato (DMIT) has been synthesized and its crystal structure has been determined by means of X-ray single crystal diffraction. The central copper(II) ion coordinates with two DMIT which constructed a square environment. Intermolecular C–H⋯S hydrogen bonds between cation groups and ligands lead to the formation of a two-dimensional supramolecular network. Its third-order nonlinear optical property has been studied using Z-scan technique at different peak laser irradiance with 20picosecond (ps) pulses at wavelength 1064nm. Its molecular second hyperpolarizability γ was determined to be 4.03×10−57 m4 CV−3. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Four new organotin complexes, [Me 3 SnO 2 SeC 6 H 4 -F-p] n ( 1 ), [Ph 3 SnO 2 SeC 6 H 4 -F-p] ( 2 ), [Me 2 Sn(O 2 SeC 6 H 4 -F-p) 2 ] n ( 3 ), and [(PhSn) 4 (μ 2 -O) 2 (O 2 SeC 6 H 4 -F-p) 8 ] ( 4 ) have been synthesized via reactions of 4-fluorobenzeneseleninato ligand and the corresponding R 3 SnCl or R 2 SnCl 2 (R = Me, Ph) with sodium ethoxide in methanol. All the complexes have been characterized by X-ray crystallography, elemental analysis, FT-IR, and NMR ( 1 H, 13 C, 119 Sn) spectroscopy. The structural analysis indicates that complex 1 adopts a 1D infinite zigzag chain structure, complex 2 displays a 1D infinite linear polymeric chain structure, complex 3 is 1D helical double-chain polymer containing eight-membered Sn 2 O 4 Se 2 inorganic ring, and complex 4 shows a tetranuclear cage structure containing two Sn–O–Sn motifs connected by bridging [p-F-C 6 H 4 SeO 2 ] - ligands. Abstract: Two organotin complexes of two types were synthesized by different methods basing on the same materials. Characterizations of the complexes were achieved by elemental analysis, IR, NMR (1H, 13C and 119Sn) spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography diffraction analysis. X-ray data reveal that complex 1 is an 8-membered cycle and complex 2 is a surprising mixed sodium organotin carboxylic polymer, in which the sodium atom shows its ability to act as a heptacoordinated atom. It is worth to note that X-ray diffraction study reveals that complex 1 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1, which is chiral space group. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
