This paper considers linear regression models when neither the response variable nor the covariates can be directly observed, but are measured with multiplicative distortion measurement errors. The distortion functions for this kind of measurement errors are modelled under a general identifiability condition. For parameter estimation, we propose two calibration procedures: the conditional mean calibration based least squares estimation and the varying coefficient based estimation. The asymptotic normal confidence intervals and empirical likelihood confidence intervals are also proposed. In multiple hypothesis test, an important problem is estimating the proportion of true null hypotheses. Existing methods are mainly based on thep-values of the single tests. In this paper, we propose two new estimations for this proportion. One is a natural extension of the commonly used methods based onp-values and the other is based on a mixed distribution. Simulations show that the first method is comparable with existing methods and performs better under some cases. And the method based on a mixed distribution can get accurate estimators even if the variance of data is large or the difference between the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis is very small. The Birnbaum-Saunders distribution is widely used in fields such as survival analysis. In this paper, we use a new method to construct confidence intervals for the shape parameter of the Birnbaum-Saunders distribution and find it superior to some existing methods. Our method can be called the 'joint pivot method' as we obtain the confidence interval by uniting two pivots. Furthermore, we find that the joint pivot method can also be used to solve the Behrens-Fisher problem. Simulation studies show that the joint pivot method is comparable with some commonly practiced ones. Finally, we analyse two real data sets to illustrate the proposed procedure. In this paper, we investigate the empirical-likelihood-based inference for the construction of confidence intervals and regions of the parameters of interest in single index models with missing covariates at random. An augmented inverse probability weighted-type empirical likelihood ratio for the parameters of interest is defined such that this ratio is asymptotically standard chi-squared. Our approach is to directly calibrate the empirical log-likelihood ratio, and does not need multiplication by an adjustment factor for the original ratio. Our bias-corrected empirical likelihood is self-scale invariant and no plug-in estimator for the limiting variance is needed. Multiphased designs and biased sampling designs are two of the well-recognized approaches to enhance study efficiency. We propose a new and cost-effective sampling design, the two-phase probability-dependent sampling design, for studies with a continuous outcome. This design will enable investigators to make efficient use of resources by targeting more informative subjects for sampling. We develop a new semiparametric empirical likelihood inference method to take advantage of data obtained through a probability-dependent sampling design. Simulation study results indicate that the sampling scheme proposed, coupled with the proposed estimator, is more efficient and more powerful than the existing outcome-dependent sampling design and the simple random sampling design with the same sample size. Two-stage design is a well-known cost-effective way for conducting biomedical studies when the exposure variable is expensive or difficult to measure. Recent research development further allowed one or both stages of the two-stage design to be outcome dependent on a continuous outcome variable. This outcome-dependent sampling feature enables further efficiency gain in parameter estimation and overall cost reduction of the study (e.g. Wang, X. and Zhou, H., 2010. In this paper, we develop a semiparametric mixed effect regression model for data from a two-stage design where the second-stage data are sampled with an outcome-auxiliary-dependent sample (OADS) scheme. Our method allows the cluster- or center-effects of the study subjects to be accounted for. We propose an estimated likelihood function to estimate the regression parameters. Simulation study indicates that greater study efficiency gains can be achieved under the proposed two-stage OADS design with center-effects when compared with other alternative sampling schemes. Abstract: In this paper, we consider a model checking problem for general linear models with randomly missing covariates. Two types of score type tests with inverse probability weight, which is estimated by parameter and nonparameter methods respectively, are proposed to this goodness of fit problem. The asymptotic properties of the test statistics are developed under the null and local alternative hypothesis.
