Despite numerous previous studies that investigated the adoption of photovoice as the method to capture both students' and teachers' past experiences in qualitative research and educational settings, more needs to be done to explore how student-teachers voice their learning experience (e.g., beliefs, emotions, values or perceptions) and, in particular, online thesis examination experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. To extend this scholarship, this phenomenological case study reports how student-teachers articulated their critical incidents while enacting an online thesis examination in a higher education context using the under-utilized data collection method of photovoice. Out of sixteen student teachers who took part in an online thesis examination, three student-teachers were recruited as the participants in this study. Findings reveal a visual illustration of the experiences and provide insight and understanding of this phenomenon. This study demonstrates that teacher educators, curriculum developers, and faculty members should recognize students' feelings during an online thesis examination to provide a more responsive experience.

In education, "Industrial Revolution 4.0" refers to utilizing technology to present students with complex situations that will develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The use of technology in the science curriculum should be designed according to established learning models. This study aimed to investigate the effect of implementing a discovery learning model, supported by the Solar System Scope computer application, on the ability of students to master essential concepts. This research used a One-Group Pre-test-Post-test design. Participants were 31 7th-grade students at one school in Bandung, Indonesia. The results showed a medium enhancement of concept mastery in students from pre-test to post-test (N-Gain=0.48). No gender difference in outcomes after the implementation of discovery learning with the Solar System Scope application was found. Based on these results, discovery learning supported by the Solar System Scope application could be an alternative teaching approach to enhance students' skills in mastering concepts.

The electrical signals in the brain can be analysed by performing spectral topographic brain mapping via Power Spectral Density. This brain mapping analysis can show the brain's different parts. Knowing dominant part(s) of the brain during reading activities enable to describe their attention levels when reading various books. The higher their attention levels are, the more information they receive during reading. The researchers used a qualitative approach with laboratory research using a small-group study of random behavior analysis method. The researchers recorded EEG data from 16 respondents (aged 18- 22 years; eight males and eight females). EEG recordings took 15 minutes via a Simblee-based brain computer interface. The highest sampling rate was 200Hz, and the largest impedance was limited to 10[omega]. EEG data with Power Spectral Density were analysed by using EEGLab Matlab-based software. Power Spectral Density was exploited to determine the high and low amplitude. The amplitude of this research was measured for the frequency range 15-18Hz (Beta1) showing the attention span. This study performed EEG recordings for reading tasks with different genres of books (academic science nonfiction book, general science nonfiction book, and science fiction book) to identify various attention cases. Attention measurement in reading can be used to detect students' reading skills in understanding science. The recording results showed that different genres of the books produced distinctive brain activities. The differences were based on the dominant part of the brain, amplitudes, and frequency patterns.

The pandemic caused major shifts in the delivery of education worldwide. In the teaching of medical biochemistry, the greatest impact was towards the delivery of traditional laboratory simulations. In this study, we highlight the benefits and barriers encountered in the use of virtual laboratories (vLABs) to substitute traditional laboratory practicals. The subjects were a class of 271 medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, all freshman undergoing the Biomedicine Block. The study assessed the use of a commercial vLAB on antibodies and blood typing procedures, which were implemented using our four-step model of vLAB implementation. Collected data include the lecturer-assigned pre- and post-test result, built-in vLAB assessment result of the student first and best attempts, a student perception questionnaire based on a 5-point Likert scale, and an open ended questionnaire regarding student perceptions of the advantages and disadvantages of the vLAB. We observed a remarkable increase of lecturer assigned pre- and post-test scores and built-in first and best attempt scores (p < 0.0001, Wilcoxon signed rank test). A majority of students reported increased motivation when using the vLABs, and favored the ability of mastery through repetition. However, technical and language barriers were highlighted by students during the vLAB implementation. We demonstrate a successful implementation of commercial vLABs in a cohort of non-native English speakers using our four-step approach. Implementation requires strong support from faculty to address technical and language barriers that arise during use of vLABs.

Purpose: This study aimed to measure the effect of the critical literacy approach on pre-service language teachers' critical reading skills. The critical reading skills measured consisted of six levels: interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, explanation, and self-regulation. Research Methods: This study was designed as a quasi-experiment which involved 56 pre-service teachers studying at the Indonesian Language Teaching Department, Universitas Negeri Makassar, Indonesia. Research data was collected using a critical reading test. Prior to the study, a package of instructional materials was developed for the experimental group. Data was analyzed with descriptive statistics and ANCOVA test with pretest scores as the covariate. Significance level was determined at a = 0.05. Findings: The results of the study indicated that the critical literacy approach had a significant effect on the pre-service language teachers' critical reading skills. The experimental group achieved better at critical reading skills and reached higher post-test scores on average. It indicated that the critical literacy approach had a significant effect on critical reading skills, which include interpretation, analysis, making an inference, evaluation, explanation, and self-regulation. Implications for Research and Practice: Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the critical literacy approach was effective in improving the students' critical reading skills. These findings suggest that the process of reading a text critically from the domination perspective can develop students' critical thinking. Future research could possibly discuss the results of a test conducted to investigate the effectiveness of the critical literacy approach based on gender variables, cognitive ability levels, and reading habit.

This chapter is based on the author's personal journey to attempt to bring an understanding of followership to Indonesia. Followership has been understudied and underappreciated in both academic literature and practice in Indonesia, possibly because of a specific interpretation of a famous Islamic leadership hadith. As such, it presents a powerful example of a cultural analysis that could be useful in other contexts. It also includes challenges that may be encountered teaching followership in Indonesia, and specific teaching strategies that can be used.

This study compared the scale of infant pain during vaccinated injection using conductance skin electric (Skin Conductance), the Wong-Baker Faces Scale (WBFS) instrument, and Face Leg Activity Cry and Consolability (FLACC) instruments. It was observational cohort study with pre-experimental design using vaccinated injection as pain stimuli. This study investigated 121 infants (59 boys, 62 girls), age/PNA 4.37 ± 2.97 months, and current body weight 6522 ± 1378.65 grams). Most infants had adequate birth weight 71 (89.9%) about 2985.74 ± 405.83 kg and mature infants as 67 (84.4%), about 38,52 ± 2,09 weeks. Pain measurement of all three instruments was do simultaneously using a developed Skin Conductance (SC) apparatus and video recording (to assess behaviour and face). WBFS, FLACC and SC have the same significance in measuring infants' pain scale during vaccination injection. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in the three pain measurement instruments between before and during injection with a p value of <0.001. Emergency medical services are an essential element in the modern healthcare system. Health care services are the most important because they play an important role in saving people's lives and reducing rates of mortality and morbidity. Especially during the covid-19 pandemic and the new normal era makes this problem very interesting to discuss. For this reason, this study tries to overcome the problem location and allocation of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) by using a combination of metaheuristics and simulation. The approach taken to overcome these challenges is developing Symbiotic Organisms Search algorithm and then use the simulation method to validation the result. The transition of the ambulance system from a centralized to decentralized system by using the Modification of Symbiotic Organisms Searrch (Mod-SOS) algorithm, found that to shorten the response time to 9 minutes, need to combine the 5 core bases with about 12 potential bases. From the simulation scenarios tested, the total number of ambulances involved in the proposed system is 16 units. Satellite-Derived Bathymetry (SDB) is one of the solution technologies for medium-scale bathymetry mapping in large areas. Various basic algorithms for bathymetry extraction with SDB have been developed. However, they require study and modification for different satellite imageries and different regional characteristics. In this study, the researchers explore three basic SDB algorithms which are often used, namely the Lyzenga algorithm, the Stumpf algorithm, and the Van Hengel & Spitzer (VHS) algorithm. These three algorithms are modified using the multilinear regression method with the 'average if' function to find out the in-situ depth using Sentinel-2A satellite imagery. These three algorithms can estimate the depth of shallow water bathymetry effectively up to a depth of 20 m. The accuracy test on the extraction results of the modification of the three basic algorithms proves to be able to increase the accuracy of the SDB depth estimation in the depth range of 0 - 20 m to an accuracy of 1.888 m for the Lyzenga algorithm, 2.093 m for the Stumpf algorithm, and 2.868 m for the VHS algorithm. Identification of road profiles is needed to provide the input of automotive simulation and endurance testing. The analysis with estimation methods is mostly done to identify road profiles. The main goal of analysis methods is to obtain the data of vertical displacements due to road profile measurement. The acceleration data is obtained from measuring road profile by using 4 sensors of accelerometer placed on each car wheel. The measuring data is converted to be vertical displacement data by using a "double integrator", however, it is not easy to get accurate results since the signal obtained carries a lot of noise and it is necessary to design the right filter reduce the noise. In this study, the signal filtering methods reducing the noise were used Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Kalman Filter (KF) combination. Experiments were carried out by combining Fast Fourier Transform and Kalman Filters using an input signal with unit (volt) in the time domain. In addition, this research focused on preparing the survey data that has been obtained by eliminating the noise to convert becoming the displacement input data for providing the loads of automotive simulation testing.

Enhancing the quality of student competencies effectively cannot be separated from the development of learning resources through technological innovation. Interactive multimedia is an innovative learning resource that can be integrated with Project-Based Learning, which is a solution to the problems that occur for 2D Animation Making. The purpose of this study is to develop interactive multimedia and assess the effectiveness of its application in Project- Based Learning (PjBL) for 2D animation making. The researchers applied the Research and Development method using the 4D model. This study was conducted at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo, with a total of 66 students of Information Technology Education. Based on the results of the study, validation by material and media experts showed that interactive multimedia learning media is excellent and feasible to use. Large-scale global optimization (LSGO) problems have widely appeared in various real-world applications. However, their inherent complexity, coupled with the curse of dimensionality, makes them challenging to solve. Continuous efforts have been devoted to designing computational intelligence-based approaches to solve them. This paper offers a comprehensive review of the latest developments in the field, focusing on the advances in both single-objective and multi-objective large-scale evolutionary optimization algorithms over the past five years. We systematically categorize these algorithms, discuss their distinct features, and highlight benchmark test suites essential for performance evaluation. After that, comparative studies are conducted using numerical solutions to evaluate the performance of state-of-the-art LSGO for both single-objective and multi-objective problems. Abstract Every company desires to have an ideal delivery system with no disruption and no downtime. In reality, disruption events cannot be avoided, especially when delivering products using maritime transportation. Such unwanted and uncontrolled events can include sudden factory downtime, vessel breakdown, jetty congestion at a port, and more. Due to the serious consequences, disruption needs to be subjected to considerable scrutiny because it may influence the performance of the company. Many studies have been undertaken regarding inventory routing problems in the maritime area. However, it is very rare that these studies have included disruption events in their model. This research examines supply and transportation disruptions and also develops several scenarios to recover from disruptions so as to increase the system performance. The method used to model this problem is a discrete event simulation, because this tool is capable of handling complex systems. The best alternatives were chosen by finding a compromise or tradeoff between the key performance indicators, specifically the service level and the cost of achieving the goals. Abstract The projectile dynamics model is non-linear system. The specifications of projectile used are 12.7 x 99 mm caliber. In the projectile motion, to achieve the target can be estimated by using some estimation methods. In this study, the estimation of 12.7 x 99 mm caliber projectile motion is computed by using Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) method. In this simulation, we estimate model of the system by measuring each variables position. The estimation results show the performance of UKF and KF in non-linear systems is different, based on their respective characteristics. The final result of this study shows that the error estimation of UKF is 81 % smaller in x -position, 85 % smaller in h -position and ν-position, 84 % smaller in γ-position. Abstract Projectiles are solid projectiles fired from firearms or air rifles, made of metal, generally from lead. The caliber of the projectile is 12.7 x 99 mm. In the projectile motion, to achieve the target, we need to estimate the motion by using some estimation methods. In this paper, the estimation of projectile of caliber 12.7 x 99 mm motion is using Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) method. In simulations, we compare EnKF and KF method. The projectile dynamics model is a non-linear system. The EnKF method can be applied for the non-linear system and KF method for the nonlinear system is approximated to the linearized model before applying the KF algorithm. The final result of this paper shows that Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) is better to estimate the model of projectile motion with the error estimation of EnKF is 23.5% smaller in x -position, 58.8% smaller in h -position, 16.2 % smaller in ν-position, 77.8 % smaller in angle and the computation of time is 3.85 % faster than the estimation results using KF method. Abstract A Projectile is a shot object which fired from firearms or air rifles. There are various sizes of projectile. One of them is 12.7 x 99 mm caliber projectile. The higher speed of 12.7 x 99 mm caliber projectile makes the less accurate, it is for the shot to hit the right target. It is necessary to estimate that the projectile reaches the right target. The projectile movements are modelled by three degrees of freedom (3-DOF) and have a non-linear equation. So the estimation used is The Extended Kalman Filter, but it would be combined with Kalman Filter Method. Measurement data is assumed to be linier. And we have all data measurement of projectile motion. The estimation results are simulated with Matlab. The final result of these studies show that Extended Kalman Filter has small error than Kalman Filter with error estimation of EKF is 92.02% smaller in the x-position, 97.38% smaller in the z-position, 94.99% smaller in velocity projectile, and 95.45% smaller in gamma angle and the computational time is 0.925% faster than KF method. The success of the economic change of a country is determined by science and technological education in graduating students who are competitive in the global market and equipped with skills relevant to the industry. Not only does the provision of the graduates depend on systems and policies, but it is also determined by teachers' roles as figures in charge of the transferring of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to students. Therefore, vocational teachers should be equipped with professional competencies to always be ready to spread their knowledge in accordance with the demand of technological development in the industrial world. The considered solution to continuously enhance the quality of vocational teachers' professional competencies is setting a framework for developing twenty-first century vocational teachers' professional competencies as a concept to prepare professional teachers for vocational education. Critical reading awareness can empower readers through critical reading skills used to understand ideological messages and domination act in language practice. The aim of this research was to develop and test a critical reading learning model to enhance university students' critical awareness. This Research and Development study was carried out by following three main steps that were product development, product validation, and examination of product effectiveness. 56 students participated in this study. They came from the Indonesian Language Department, Negeri Makassar University, Indonesia. The qualitative data was analyzed with the use of domain analysis and the quantitative data was analyzed using t-test. The developed learning model was proven valid and feasible through experts' validation. In addition, the results of the effectiveness test indicated that the learning model could improve students' critical reading skills and students' critical reading awareness of understanding, evaluating, and responding to texts. Interconnects present major technical challenges in the commercialization of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) with high performance and durability. To mitigate surface oxidation (chromia growth) and chromium evaporation under high-temperature oxidizing conditions, metallic interconnects should be coated with conductive metal oxides. In this study, we report a protective coating based on perovskite-type LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3 (LNF) fabricated by a facile electrophoretic deposition (EPD) process. LNF powders with a narrow size distribution are synthesized by using the Pechini method. EPD parameters, including solid content in a suspension, deposition time, and applied voltage, are adjusted to control the microstructure, morphology, and thickness of the LNF coating. An LNF coating of ~7.7 μm thickness is fabricated on an SOFC interconnect via EPD under optimized conditions. The electrophoretically deposited LNF layer serves as an effective protective coating for SOFC interconnects, showing a low resistance (~4.2 mΩ cm2) as well as high stability during long-term operation at 800°C. Jakarta, known as the capital city of Indonesia and the national economic activity center, is also known as the market for floods. Moreover, the regions of Jakarta become vulnerable, especially the slum areas and this COVID-19 pandemic. This study proposes implementing Fuzzy Geographically Weighted Clustering (FGWC) with Chaotic Flower Pollination Algorithm (CFPA) in urban vulnerability analysis of Jakarta at the subdistrict level. Moreover, this study also implements the named entity recognition (NER) from local news media to extract the history of floods in Jakarta during 2019–2020 to support the urban vulnerability. This study found that the CFPA can improve the performance of FGWC. Subsequently, the clustering results showed that each cluster has its urban vulnerability problem. Most regions outside central Jakarta have more vulnerability problems, particularly in population dynamics, floods history, and slum areas. On the other hand, the news analysis showed that the most frequent flood happened between October and February. Therefore, the government and society must collaborates to overcome the urban vulnerability problems and mitigates the floods to increase the regional resilience of Jakarta. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The main problem of spare parts management is to maintain the minimal requirement of stock keeping units kept. This research proposes a joint optimization model of multi-item multi-period spare parts inventory management and planned maintenance under uncertain failures in order to balance inventory cost and spare parts availability. This paper presents a Mixed Integer Non-linear Programming formulation of the inventory optimization model under a minimum and maximum inventory policy with stock review intervals. Some studies in the literature have considered aggregating spare parts inventory management as they assume that it will reduce the ordering cost. We consider both independent and aggregate spare parts inventory policies and then combine the formulation with the predictive maintenance interval, which is a replacement action due to uncertain failures under predefined distribution. Furthermore, a novel two-stage Genetic Algorithm is proposed as a sim-heuristic approach to deal with the non-linearity, combinations, and stochasticity of the problem and solve large-scale instances. In the end, we perform a computational study on some instances and a real-world case study to demonstrate the proposed approach's effectiveness and efficiency. Controlled removal of carbonaceous component in low rank coal by sulfonation followed by calcination demonstrated that it is a simple and effective method to utilize this material as catalyst in the oxidation of styrene. Low rank coal is one of the least utilized categories of coal. However, it shows excellent potential as a catalyst due to high concentrations of carbon and other elements, such as transition metals, which are embedded inside its structure. In this research, the low rank coal was treated by sulfonation followed by calcination in order to activate the transition metals embedded in it. The catalytic activity of the treated low rank coal was tested in the oxidation of styrene by aqueous hydrogen peroxide. The low rank coal showed high catalytic activity after sulfonation and calcination at 700 °C, with 3% of styrene conversion and 97% of selectivity toward benzaldehyde. The transition metal active sites in low rank coal that play the most important role in the oxidation of styrene were determined by coal mimicking models. The presence of cobalt oxide and titanium oxide active sites in the low rank coal plays the most significant role in the oxidation of styrene by aqueous hydrogen peroxide. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is a soft tissue sarcoma that found in late adulthood and middle age. Malignant fibrous histiocytoma usually growth in extremity (70%), retroperitoneal (16%), heart, face, urinary tract, and laryng. In Indonesia, three cases of MFH outside urinary tract has been reported before. We reported one additional case of MFH occurs in genital organ. A case of 65 years old man with left lower abdominal mass post left inguinal orchidectomy due to scrotal mass and the histopathological diagnosis is malignant fibrous histiocytoma myxoid type. We plan to give combination treatment by neoadjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but the patient die before get therapy 1 weeks after diagnosted with doubtfull cause of death.
