Abstract Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries have attracted significant attention in the realm of electronic energy storage and conversion owing to their remarkable theoretical energy density and cost‐effectiveness. However, Li–S batteries continue to face significant challenges, primarily the severe polysulfides shuttle effect and sluggish sulfur redox kinetics, which are inherent obstacles to their practical application. Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs), known for their porous structure, high adsorption capacity, structural flexibility, and easy synthesis, have emerged as ideal materials for separator modification. Efficient polysulfides interception/conversion ability and rapid lithium‐ion conduction enabled by MOFs modified layers are demonstrated in Li–S batteries. In this perspective, the objective is to present an overview of recent advancements in utilizing pristine MOF materials as modification layers for separators in Li–S batteries. The mechanisms behind the enhanced electrochemical performance resulting from each design strategy are explained. The viewpoints and crucial challenges requiring resolution are also concluded for pristine MOFs separator in Li–S batteries. Moreover, some promising materials and concepts based on MOFs are proposed to enhance electrochemical performance and investigate polysulfides adsorption/conversion mechanisms. These efforts are expected to contribute to the future advancement of MOFs in advanced Li–S batteries.

Background: Natural killer (NK) cells play a role in the pathogenesis of various metabolic diseases related to obesity. While our initial findings have indicated a potential involvement of NK cells in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus, the precise mechanism underlying NK cell-mediated development of this form of diabetes remains inadequately comprehended.Objective: To investigate the impact and the underlying mechanism of high glucose and elevated levels of free fatty acids (FFAs) on immune and inflammatory responses and oxidative stress in NK92 cells.Methods: In this experiment, the CCK8 cytotoxicity assay was used to select the 44.4 mM and 1.5 mM concentrations of high glucose and high FFAs, respectively, to treat NK92 cells for 4 days. The concentrations of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione (GSH) were determined using a biochemical analyzer. Intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, cytokines concentrations (TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-6, and IL-10), and the expression levels of intracellular molecules (perforin and granzyme B) were assessed by flow cytometry.Results: The number of NK92 cell clumps was significantly reduced in the high-FFA (HF) group. In addition, the production of ROS and levels of cytokines (TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-6, and IL-10) significantly decreased in the HF group but showed no significant change in the high-glucose (HG) group. This observation was consistent with the expression levels of perforin and granzyme B that decreased in the HF group.Conclusion: High FFAs induced morphological changes and serious damage to oxidative stress and inflammatory response in NK92 cells.

Intestinal diseases are one of the diseases that affect the growth and immunity of deer. Currently, more lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are available as feed additives to improve the intestinal ecological balance of ruminants in production practices. In this study, Enterococcus faecalis was supplemented in the feed of fallow deer for 170 d, and body weights, blood indices and immune levels of fallow deer were counted at 35, 65 and 170 d. The effects of Enterococcus faecalis on the intestinal microbiota and the metabolism of fallow deer were analysed using 16S rDNA and UPLC-MS/MS methods. The results showed that the addition of Enterococcus faecalis to the diet improved body weight and immune function and increased the aggregation of gut microbiota in fallow deer. The addition of Enterococcus faecalis altered the community structure of intestinal microorganisms in fallow deer and increased the number of beneficial bacteria. In addition, combined with metabolomics analysis, it was found that supplementation with Enterococcus faecalis significantly altered the metabolites of fallow deer, mainly regulating lipid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism and phospholipid metabolism. In conclusion, this study presents, for the first time, evidence that the LAB strain Enterococcus faecalis can be used as a potential probiotic for deer and points to a new direction for the treatment of intestinal disorders in the deer family.

Highlights This review systematically analyzes the effect of the electrolyte-to-sulfur ratios on battery energy density and the challenges for sulfur reduction reactions under lean electrolyte conditions. The strengths and limitations of different transition metal compounds are systematically presented and discussed from a fundamental perspective. Three promising strategies for sulfur hosts that act as anchors and catalysts are proposed to boost lean electrolyte Li–S battery performance.

Beijing, the capital of China, with a population of more than 21 million, is a mega city that is located on the migration route between East Asia and Australia. Owing to the process of urbanization, more urban spaces have been occupied by artificial buildings and facilities in the past. Since the implementation of the Measures of the National Voluntary Tree Planting Movement by the State Council in Beijing in 1982, urban green spaces (especially urban parks) have been greatly increased, promoting the restoration of ecosystem in Beijing. Interestingly, bird biodiversity greatly increased with the expanding of urban green spaces, and more new records of birds were found by the booming development of bird watching activities in Beijing. A total of 503 bird species have been found in Beijing to date, including 27 Class I species (Aythya baeri, Grus japonensis, Emberiza jankowskii, etc.) and 89 Class II species (Grus grus, Paradoxornis heudei, etc.) in the List of Key Protected Wildlife in China, most of which are the flagship species of the wetland ecosystem and forest ecosystem. This suggests that Beijing has become one of the richest mega cities in the world in terms of bird biodiversity. Therefore, the long-term conservation of urban biodiversity should be considered during the process of urbanization construction.

Reintroduction plays a vital role in conservation for many endangered species, however, little long-term information is available on the population dynamics and conservation status. Here we provide a detailed account of the Chinese Milu (Elaphurus davidianus) conservation and reintroduction efforts over the past 35 years, and give updated information on current Milu distribution, population dynamics and conservation status based on long-term monitoring (1985–2020) and a detailed follow-up investigation (2013–2020) in 235 wildlife institutions throughout China. Milu conservation in China comprised three phases: i) establishing ex situ populations and increasing the number of Milu through captive breeding (1985–1992); ii) preparing captive Milu for life in the wild and establishing in situ conservation populations (1993–1997); and iii) reintroduction of Milu into the wild throughout their historic range (1998–ongoing). Currently, there are ca. 9062 Milu (including 2825 wild individuals) distributed across 83 sites with 7380 individuals living at Beijing Milu Park, Jiangsu Dafeng Milu Nature Reserve and Hubei Shishou Milu Nature Reserve. The average birth rates in three sites were all over 0.200, and the average adult mortality rates were below 0.085, resulting in a rapid population growth. We discuss a variety of factors that contributed to ex situ conservation success in the reintroduction of a species formerly extinct in the wild, and highlight past and present challenges of Milu conservation in China. Our results will provide helpful information on conservation and reintroduction for other endangered species around the world.

The reintroduction is an important conservation tool to restore a species in its historically distribution area, but the rate of reintroduction success varies across species or regions due to different reasons. Genetic evaluation is important to the conservation management of reintroduced species. Conservation concerns relate to genetic threats for species with a small population size or severely historically bottle-necked species, such as negative consequences associated with loss of genetic diversity and inbreeding. The last 40years have seen a rapid increasing of population size for Père David’s deer (Elaphurus davidianus), which originated from a limited founder population. However, the genetic structure of reintroduced Père David’s deer has not been investigated in terms of population genomics, and it is still not clear about the evolutionary history of Père David’s deer and to what extent the inbreeding level is. Conservation genomics methods were used to reconstruct the demographic history of Père David’s deer, evaluate genetic diversity, and characterize genetic structure among 18 individuals from the captive, free-ranging and wild populations. The results showed that 1,456,457 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were obtained for Père David’s deer, and low levels of genome-wide genetic diversity were observed in Père David’s deer compared with Red deer (Cervus elaphus) and Sika deer (Cervus nippon). A moderate population genetic differentiation was detected among three populations of Père David’s deer, especially between the captive population in Beijing Père David’s deer park and the free-ranging population in Jiangsu Dafeng National Nature Reserve. The effective population size of Père David’s deer started to decline ~25.8ka, and the similar levels of three populations’ LD reflected the genetic impacts of long-term population bottlenecks in the Père David’s deer. The findings of this study could highlight the necessity of individual exchange between different facilities, and genetic management should generally be integrated into conservation planning with other management considerations.

Objective The objective of this study was to investigate effects of mixed organic acids (MOA) on nutrient digestibility, volatile fatty acids composition and intestinal microbiota in growing-finishing pigs fed high wheat bran diet. Methods Six crossbred barrows (Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire), with an average body weight 78.8±4.21 kg, fitted with T-cannulas at the distal ileum, were allotted to a double 3×3 Latin square design with 3 periods and 3 diets. Each period consisted of a 5-d adjustment period followed by a 2-d total collection of feces and then a 2-d collection of ileal digesta. The dietary treatments included a corn-soybean-wheat bran basal diet (CTR), mixed organic acid 1 diet (MOA1; CTR+3,000 mg/kg OA1), mixed organic acid 2 diet (MOA2; CTR+2,000 mg/kg OA2). This study aimed to assess whether protective measures could reduce the health risks of air pollution in mice living in the chambers situated at a suburban site in Beijing. The living chambers of mice were divided into four groups: male mice with and without the high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter (male group A and group B), as well as female mice with and without the HEPA filter (female group A and group B). The experiment was carried out from 1 December 2017 to 31 May 2018. Parameters of respiratory function during periods of clean air and air pollution were determined for all groups to evaluate the role of the indoor air filter (i.e., HEPA) in protection against respiratory health risks in mice. Significant differences in minute volumes were observed in male and female groups with versus without the HEPA. Additionally, respiratory health parameters including respiratory rate, duration of breaking, expiratory time, and relaxation time exhibited differences in female groups with HEPA versus without HEPA. Levels of inflammatory factors in the lungs were measured for all groups after 6months of exposure. Greater mean levels of IL-6 and TNF-α were found in the male groups without HEPA than in those with HEPA. Higher average concentrations of IL-6, T-AOC, SOD, GSH-Px, LDH, TNF-α, and TGF-β1 were found in the female group without HEPA than those without HEPA. Our study has proved the effective protection provided by indoor air filters (i.e., HEPA filters) in reducing respiratory health risks associated with PM2.5.

Enterocytozoon bieneusi is the most prevalent microsporidian species that can cause zoonotic diseases in humans and animals. Despite receiving increasing attention in relation to domestic animals, there has been limited information on the infection burden of E. bieneusi in cervids. Altogether, 215 fecal samples collected from four deer species in Beijing, China were examined by nested- Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)targeting the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region. The overall prevalence of E. bieneusi in deer was 21.9% (47/215), with 30.0% (24/80) in Pere David’s deer, 27.3% (15/55) in fallow deer, 12.5% (5/40) in sika deer, and 7.5% (3/40) in Chinese water deer. Thirteen E. bieneusi genotypes were identified, including six known (HLJD-V, MWC_d1, BEB6, CGC2, JLD-XV, and HND-I) and seven novel genotypes (BJED-I to BJED-V, BJFD, and BJCWD). A phylogenetic analysis showed that 38.3% of the isolates belonged to zoonotic Group 1. In addition, E. bieneusi infection was first detected in fallow deer and Chinese water deer, which could act as potential zoonotic reservoirs. Our findings suggest that E. bieneusi circulates in deer and might be of importance to public health.

Semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) are important pollutants in indoor environments. Quantification of gaseous SVOC concentrations is essential to assess the pollution levels. Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) is considered to be an attractive sampling technique with merits, including simplicity of use, rapid sampling, and solvent free. However, the applications of SPME for sampling gaseous SVOCs are often limited by the fluctuating velocity of indoor air (leading to an unstable sampling rate) and the uncertainties associated with the traditional calibration of SPME. Therefore, we established an SPME-based active sampler to ensure the stable sampling of SVOCs in fluctuating air and developed a two-step calibration method based on the sampling principle of SPME. The presented method and a traditional method (sorbent tubes packed with Tenax TA) were simultaneously used to measure SVOC concentrations in an airstream generated in experiments. Three typical indoor SVOCs, diisobutyl phthalate (DiBP), tris (1-chloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TCPP), and benzyl butyl phthalate (BBzP) were chosen as the analytes. Abstract Small cell lung cancer (SCLC), as a proportion, makes up only 15–17% of lung cancer cases. The development of treatments for SCLC has remained stagnant for decades, and SCLC is expected to persist as a threat to human health. To date, no publications based on large populations have been reported. We calculated survival changes in patients with SCLC during each decade between 1983 and 2012 to determine the roles of race, sex, age, and socioeconomic status (SES) on survival rates based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registries. In total, 106,296 patients with SCLC were identified, with the overall incidence per 100,000 decreasing each decade from 9.6 to 7.8 to 5.8. The median survival for SCLC remained 7 months, and the 12-month relative survival rates (RSRs) remained relatively stable at 32.9%, 33.2% and 33.2% during each decade. The 5-year RSRs significantly improved from 4.9% to 5.9% to 6.4% during each decade, but remained extremely low. In addition, a narrowing of the survival gaps among SES groups and stable survival gaps between sexes were observed. Although the incidence of SCLC decreased during each decade, the overall survival remained relatively stable, highlighting the urgency of developing novel treatments and the importance of prevention and early detection.

Malaria importation and local vector susceptibility to imported Plasmodium vivax infection are a continuing risk along the China–Myanmar border. Malaria transmission has been prevented in 3 border villages in Tengchong County, Yunnan Province, China, by use of active fever surveillance, integrated vector control measures, and intensified surveillance and response.

Non–small cell lung cancer is the most common malignancy in males; it constitutes the majority of lung cancer cases and requires massive medical resources. Despite improvements in managing non–small cell lung cancer, long-term survival remains very low. This study evaluated survival improvement in patients with non–small cell lung cancer in each decade between 1983 and 2012 to determine the impact of race, sex, age, and socioeconomic status on the survival rates in these patients. We extracted data on non–small cell lung cancer cases in each decade between 1983 and 2012 from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results registries. In total, 573,987 patients with non–small cell lung cancer were identified in 18 Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results registry regions during this period. The 12-month relative survival rates improved slightly across three decades, from 39.7% to 40.9% to 45.5%, with larger improvement in the last two decades. However, the 5-year-relative survival rates were very low, with 14.3%, 15.5%, and 18.4%, respectively, in three decades, indicating the urgency for novel comprehensive cancer care. In addition, our data demonstrated superiority in survival time among non–small cell lung cancer patients of lower socioeconomic status and White race. Although survival rates of non–small cell lung cancer patients have improved across the three decades, the 5-year-relative survival rates remain very poor. In addition, widening survival disparities among the race, the sex, and various socioeconomic status groups were confirmed. This study will help in predicting future tendencies of incidence and survival of non–small cell lung cancer, will contribute to better clinical trials by balancing survival disparities, and will eventually improve the clinical management of non–small cell lung cancer.

Purpose: No standard salvage regimen has been established for patients with recurrent and metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and disease progression after prior platinum-based chemotherapy. This phase II study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of gemcitabine plus S-1 (GS) chemotherapy as a remedial regimen in this setting. Methods: In this multicenter phase II study, 49 patients with recurrent and metastatic NPC who failed previous platinum-based chemotherapy received gemcitabine (1.0 g/m 2 on days 1 and 8) plus oral S-1 chemotherapy (twice daily from day 1 to 14). Abstract Background Rapid diagnostic test (RDT) is becoming an alternative way of establishing quickly the diagnosis of malaria infections, by detecting specific malaria antigens in suspected patients’ blood between the China-Myanmar endemic borders areas, towards achieving the National Malaria Elimination programme by 2020. The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of CareStart™ Malaria Pf/Pan RDT kit for the diagnosis of malaria infections in suspected patients. Blood examination by microscopy was taken as gold standard to evaluate CareStart™ kit’s sensitivity, specificity and predictive value and corrected with PCR assay. Results Overall 126 of 241 (52.28%) malaria cases were detected by microscopy compared to 115 of 241(47.72%) CareStart™ kit and 128 of 241 (53.11%) PCR corrected assay. CareStart™ kit’s sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of malaria were 89.68% and 98.26% respectively, compared to standard microscopy, whereas the sensitivity and specificity for falciparum malaria were 88.52% and 98.26%, and for vivax malaria: 90.77% and 100%. The CareStart™ positive predictive values were 98.26% (93.88-99.52%, 95% CI) compared to 100% (96.77-100%, 95% CI) for PCR-corrected, and the negative predictive values of 89.68% (83.15-93.87%, 95% CI) were the same in microscopy as PCR-corrected. The diagnostic accuracy of CareStart™ kit versus microscopy and PCR were 93.78% (89.99-96.19%, 95% CI) and 94.61% (90.99-96.82%, 95% CI) respectively. The likelihood of diagnostic of malaria positive was almost similar between microscopy and CareStart™ kit, with an entropy reduction of 60.0% compared to a weak likelihood of misdiagnosis of 0.10 (0.09-0.12, 95% CI), with an entropy reduction of 36.01%. Conclusion The accuracy of CareStart™ kit is comparable to gold standard microscopy in these areas, it is easy to perform and suitable for cross-border diagnosis and monitoring of local or imported malaria patterns by any local health staff in endemic remotes.

Tumor necrosis factor receptor‐associated factor‐6 (TRAF6) is a ubiquitin E3 ligase. TRAF6 plays an important role in tumor invasion and metastasis. However, the specific mechanism by which TRAF6 promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis is incompletely understood. This study aimed to determine whether TRAF6 affects the LPS‐NF‐κB‐VEGF‐C signaling pathway through ubiquitination, which plays a role in colorectal cancer metastasis. Here, our results showed that TRAF6 affected lymphangiogenesis through the LPS‐NF‐κB‐VEGF‐C signaling pathway. Using ubiquitination experiments, we found that TRAF6 was mainly ubiquitinated with the K63‐linked chains, and LPS promoted ubiquitination of TRAF6 and K63‐linked chains. More importantly, TRAF6 124mut is the main ubiquitination site of TRAF6 interacting with K63‐linked chains. TRAF6 affected the migration, invasion, and lymphatic metastasis of colorectal cancer through its ubiquitination. In subcutaneous xenograft models, TRAF6 124mut inhibited tumor growth. In conclusion, our results provide new insight for studying the mechanism of lymphangiogenesis in colorectal cancer to promote cancer metastasis, which may provide new ideas for tumor immunotherapy. The reintroduction of rare and endangered species is one of the most important approaches to conservation and ecosystem restoration, but it has still proven to be an adventurous undertaking and most reintroduction programmes fail, so successful demonstrations are needed. Père David's deer (Elaphurus davidianus, Milu in Chinese) could be considered one of conservation's great success stories, as this species' path on the road to extinction has been reversed by a combination of ex-situ conservation and successful re-introduction in China. The species had been consigned to an imperial hunting ground when the last Chinese herds were exterminated during the fall of the Qing Dynasty (1644–1912). Fortunately, a few of the last remaining individuals were sent to European zoos. From these animals, a herd was bred on the 14th Duke of Bedford's estate, Woburn Abbey, and between 1985 and 1987, and 38 Milu were donated back to China for re-introduction in Beijing Milu Park (BMP), the former imperial hunting ground. An additional 39 deer were released at Dafeng National Nature Reserve (DFNNR), Jiangsu Province in 1986. In both of these safe and protected locations, the Milu thrived allowing for over 700 Milu to be sent to a further 82 sites throughout the species' original Chinese range over the last 36 years. As a result, the Milu population totaled 9136 by 2021, with 2855 individuals now living back in the wild; while another 5681 individuals inhabit the DFNNR, and 186 reside in BMP. Wild Milu, however, still face significant conservation challenges. The population lacks genetic diversity, leading to severe inbreeding depression and carrying multiple risks, such as high miscarriage rates, a reduced lifespan, and susceptibility to disease. Environmental constraints such as pollution and habitat fragmentation further result in small, fragmented wild populations. Moreover, the species currently lacks a national level conservation master plan, the associated coordinated monitoring platforms, and breeding plans for China's captive populations. Finally, there is now a lack of international cooperation in the conservation of this species. We therefore call for both a national-level conservation master plan in China and international cooperation to develop a shared database and germplasm databank covering Milu across all countries with ex-situ populations, as crucial steps for securing the long-term conservation of Milu and preventing it from ever becoming "extinct in the wild" again. Background/Aim: Colorectal cancer (CRC) cells secrete inflammatory cytokines that affect CRC progression. The aim of the present study was to determine if micro-RNA-140(miR-140) regulates inflammatory cytokine secretion induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in colorectal cancer cells by targeting tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR)-associated factor 6 (TRAF6). Materials and Methods: Fifty fresh coloncancer specimens and normal colorectal tissues were collected from patients with CRC and tested for the expression miR-140. Human CRC cell lines SW480 and HCT116 were treated with various concentrations and times with LPS. miR-140 and mRNA expression of potentially related genes were analyzed by qPCR. Protein expression was analyzed using western blot or ELISA. Overexpression plasmids with pcDNA3.1-TRAF6, pGL4.10-wtTRAF6 and pGL4.10-mutTRAF6 were constructed. miRNA target gene prediction and a dual luciferase assay were used to analyze miR-140-targeted TRAF6. Results: miR-140 expression was up-regulated in CRC tissues. In CRC cells, LPS could increase miR-140 expression in a time- and concentrationdependent manner. LPS increased inflammatory cytokine mRNA expression levels in SW480 and HCT116 human colon-cancer cells. miRNA-140 suppressed TRAF6 expression via targeting the 3 UTR. TRAF6 affected miR-140-mediated inflammatory cytokine expression of SW480 and HCT116 cells under LPS treatment. Background/Aim: Inflammation may play a role in cancer initiation and progression. The molecular mechanisms by which inflammation causes colorectal cancer, remains unclear. The present study investigated a signaling pathway that affects inflammation in colorectal cancer. Materials and Methods: SW480 cells, HCT116 cells, and cells with knockdown of myeloid differentiation 88 (MyD88), and forced expression of MyD88 were treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS; 1 ƒÊg/ml). Inflammation-related mRNA expression was analyzed by the quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and inflammatory cytokines were detected by western blotting. The enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to quantify inflammation-related cytokines in colorectal cancer cells. Cancer cell properties were evaluated using the woundhealing assay, transwell migration assay, transwell invasion assay, colony-formation assay, and CCK-8 assay. Results: LPS up-regulated mRNA and protein levels of inflammatory factors in colorectal cancer cells. Knockdown of MyD88 inhibited LPS-induced mRNA expression and inflammatory protein expression in colorectal cancer cells. Similarly, silencing of MyD88 expression suppressed LPS-induced changes in the biological behavior of colorectal cancer cells. Silencing of MyD88 expression down-regulated expression of proteins of the LPS/nuclear factor kappa-light-chainenhancer of activated B-cells (NF-.B)/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. Restoration of the expression of MyD88 reversed the effects in LPS-treated HCT116 cells. Conclusion: MyD88-regulated LPS/NF.B/MAPK signaling pathway affects the inflammatory and biological behavior of LPS-induced colorectal cancer cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Chemical composition traits, for instance, intramuscular fat (IMF) are an important meat quality trait. However, the molecular mechanisms related to IMF deposition in skeletal muscle have not previously been discussed for the native Yunnan (Wuding, Mini, and Wuliangshan) chicken breeds. In order to determine important discrepancies in IMF content, the chemical composition, and phenotypical variations in the gene expression of different breeds, five genes related to fat metabolism were analyzed in the muscle tissues of twenty-week-old native Yunnan breeds and the commercial broiler breed through quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR). The results were a clear statement that breeds had significant effects on LPL, UCP, FAS, FATP1, and PPAR-a gene expression. Higher (P<0.05) LPL gene, UCP gene, and FAS gene expression were observed in the muscles of the Wuding chicken. In comparison, higher (P<0.05) muscle FATP1 gene expression was found in the Mini chicken. The levels of PPAR-a gene (PPAR-a) mRNA were greatest (P<0.05) in the Wuding, moderate (P<0.05) in the Mini, and lowest in the Wuliangshan and the broiler. Chemical composition exhibited the lowest IMF content in the broiler thigh and breast muscle. In the thigh muscles, the Wuding chicken had the highest IMF content, while the Mini chicken had higher crude protein levels and ash content. In comparison, the breast muscles of the Wuliangshan had higher crude fat, protein, and ash content followed by those of the Wuding and the Mini. Variations in gene expression in different breeds and their relationship to chemical composition could contribute to the distinct fatty phenotype and characteristic flavor of native Yunnan chicken. Abstract  In this paper, we have presented a range of new nitro-stilbene derivatives with benzophenones via ether or ester bridged bond. These nitro-stilbene derivatives with benzophenones have been conveniently obtained by condensation reaction. The linked benzophenones were efficiently introduced to nitro-stilbene dyes. The structures of these compounds have been characterized with NMR and element analysis. The single crystals of two target compounds (11 and 12) have been obtained, and their X-ray crystallographic data have been determined and discussed. Remarkably different absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy was observed for nitro-stilbene derivatives with benzophenones via different linked bonds. The results show that electron-donating or electron withdrawing bridged bonds have significant influence on the absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy, which makes it possible for the development of ideal nitro-stilbene dyes with benzophenones through chemical strategy.
