Aggression is a common problem in preschool children. The relationship between aggressive behaviors in early ages and psychopathologies in later years has been shown in previous studies. Therefore, it is imperative to understand both the causes of childhood aggression and identify the sustaining factors. This review discusses aggression in the context of temperament, parental attitudes, and attachment factors. The concept of temperament was explained with the terminology of difficult and easy temperament, emotionality, activity, sociability, and impulsivity factors, especially from the perspectives of Thomas and Chess, Goldsmith and Plomin, and Cloninger, and associated with aggression in the preschool period. In addition, possible causes of aggression in children were assessed with attachment theory. Finally, the relationship between parents, their attitudes towards aggression, socioeconomic determinants in the family, and the possible relationship between aggression in children were discussed. This study examines the determinants of preschool children's aggression to solve aggression problems, focusing on family and temperamental characteristics. A more holistic assessment of aggression with child and parent characteristics is intended. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

AGGRESSION (Psychology) , *ROAD rage , *LIFE satisfaction , *VIOLENCE , *SECONDARY education - Abstract
Aggression refers to the unpleasant behavior of a person towards another person. Although the use of brute force comes to life in people's minds when aggression is mentioned, it is very difficult to define a single behavior or group of behaviors as aggression. Because aggression can turn into behavior in many different ways. Violence and aggression in traffic have increased significantly in recent years. Given the lack of regulations regarding violent and aggressive behavior, the number of incidents and accidents involving drivers has increased significantly. This study aims to examine the relationship among socio-demographic characteristics, aggression and life satisfaction levels of taxi drivers. Quantitative research design was used in the study. The sample of the research consists of 146 taxi drivers registered in 19 taxi stands in Istanbul. As a data collection tool, a semi)structured sociodemographic form prepared by the researcher; Aggression Scale developed by Buss and Perry (1992); Life Satisfaction Scale developed by Diener et al. (1985) were used. When the results of the research are examined, all of the participants are male and 92.5% of them are at high school or below education level. It was found that Taxi drivers work 11.3 hours a day; and 72.6% of them felt under stress in traffic. A negative and significant relationship was found between the aggression and life satisfaction levels of the participants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIAL media addiction , *OFFENSIVE behavior , *VIRTUAL reality , *ONLINE shopping , *SOCIAL media , *AGGRESSION (Psychology) , *KISSING - Abstract
Social media has emerged as a widely used tool in the communication age. This new virtual world, where individuals freely share their views and express themselves, is also used for many different purposes including personal, corporate, and public usages. Because of using social media, social relationships established in the past and face-to-face relationships until today have been replaced by newly established virtual relationships. This new digital world also allows individuals to easily exhibit rude and aggressive behaviors that they do not demonstrate in daily life. The correlation between social media addiction and aggression can be widely seen worldwide and in our country. Depression, being anti-social, social media addiction, which we can call mental erosion which usually occurs with social media addiction. The data of the study were collected by a questionnaire form from 296 individuals residing in Çorum. While the scale created in Şahin and Yağcı (2017) study was used as the social media addiction scale, the scale created in the Buss and Perry (1992) study was used to measure the aggression attitude. As a result of the study, while the social media addiction level of the participants varies according to their education level and online shopping status, however, it does not change according to gender and working status. While the level of aggression varied according to gender, it did not differ according to employment status, education level, and online shopping status. In addition, there is a linear moderate positive relationship between social media addiction and aggression score. Finally, in this study a statistically significant difference was found in the duration of social media use, the number of shares, and aggression score according to gender. Implications are provided related to social media addiction and aggression for future research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: In this study, we aimed to compare serum uric acid levels in patients diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder with a healthy control group, and also to investigate the relationship between serum uric acid levels and impulsivity and aggressive attitudes. Methods: The study was conducted with 126 individuals (69 with antisocial personality disorder, 57 controls). The Sociodemographic Data Form, the Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11), and the Buss–DurkeeHostility Inventory (BDHI) were applied to all participants. Venous blood samples were collected from all participants to measure serum uric acid levels. Results: It was determined that both the BIS-11 and the BDHI sub-dimensions, and the total scores of the antisocial personality disorder patients were higher when compared to the healthy control group. The serum uric acid levels of the patient group were significantly higher when compared to those of the control group. Furthermore, there was a significant positive correlation between serum uric acid level and Barratt Impulsivity Scale–11 (r=0.635, P < .001) and Buss–Durkee Hostility Inventory (r=0.572, P < .001) scores. Conclusion: In our study, it was found that serum uric acid levels were higher in patients with antisocial personality disorder, which is characterized by impulsivity and aggressive behavior, when compared to the control group. The findings of the present study suggest that purinergic dysfunction may also play a role in the etiopathogenesis of the disease. Further studies are required to determine whether this was a cause or an outcome [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Television entered people's lives in the middle of the 20th century and it is named as a "traditional" media after the development of new media; however, still it has not lost its popularity at homes. The impact of violent television series on their audiences is a subject that is being researched and discussed since the days that it was seen as "magical" up to today. Aggressive behavior that can result from consuming violent content found themselves a new platform that they can take place without much fear. This study aims to test the validity of this hypothesis through surveys that measure individuals' aggresiveness levels and their inclination to cyber bullying, as well as a question that asks participants to name three most watched/liked television series by them. As a result of the analyses, it is found that the participants' level of aggressiveness is higher than their inclination to cyber bullying behavior. Other results obtained are discussed in the discussion in detail. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Various situations that individual encounters in his / her daily Ufe create positive emotions while others cause stress and anxiety. In the literature, such negative moods that affect an individual's emotional, cognitive, physical, behavioral and relational aspects are defined as anxiety. The state of anxiety that affects a large part of society has become widespread today. In parallel studies on anxiety have increased in recent years. There is still a need to investigate the effects of religion on anxiety, including feelings of restlessness, anxiety, fear, irritability, and sadness, because religion and religiosity is an effective factor in many areas of an individual's life, from the world of thought to the world of emotion, from attitudes to various behaviors. One of the negative situations in social Ufe is aggressive behavior. Aggressive behavior, on the other hand, includes all behaviors directed to harm another living being, although it is classified in various ways. Aggression has a very broad form of expression- In the literature, aggression is evaluated in five dimensions as physical indirect, anger, verbal and hostility. In all religions and cultures, aggressive expressions are not welcome because they harm society. Religion and religiosity bring provisions aiming to control the aggressive behaviors of the individual Abroad, religion / religiosity and although more research on the relationship between aggression investigating the relationship between these two cases in Turkey is not so prevalent in the study. The aim of this research is to examine the relationships and interactions between trait anxiety, aggression and religiosity. The purpose of this study is to examine whether religious beliefs and attitudes and continuous anxiety have an effect on the aggressive tendencies of university students. In addition, the effects of gender on religiosity, persistent anxiety and aggression tendencies were discussed in this study. Four hundred-fifteen volunteer students from different universities and faculties participated in the study in the 2017-2018 academic year. After the data set was checked, the final sample consisted of 398 participants. In addition to personal traits, STAI Form TX-2, Motivational Religiosity Scale (MMRI) and Buss-Perry Aggression Scale (BPSO) were used. After the factor analysis of the STAI FORM TX-2, 4 expressions were scattered or ambiguous and 16 expressions remained in the excluded scale. The scale was named as Continuous Anxiety Scale-16. As a result of the analysis, the KMO value of the scale was found to be 833 (p =, 000) and internal consistency was 791. Motivational Religiosity Scale (MMRI) -18: As a result of factor analysis, 18 of the 20 questions were collected under three dimensions, explaining 74% of the total variance, and the internal consistency of the KMO was 961 (p =, 000) and 964, respectively. Buss-Perry Aggression Scale (BPSO): In this study, a 5-point Likert-type scale consisting of 29 items was used. The analysis showed that 10 items were deactivated and the remaining 19 items were collected in 5 sub-dimensions. KMO value of the scale was found to be 857 and the variance explained was 58,346% (p =, 000). The alpha value, which expresses the internal consistency of the scale, was found to be 813. The participants received the highest score in the "religious belief and tendency to help" subscale (M = 4.38). In general, in the subscales where a mean score was obtained above the average of the scale (M = 2.5), finally, M = 3.86 average was obtained from the responsibility dimension in the second place. The participants were as follows in terms of their aggression orientations. The participants obtained the highest average from the "verbal aggression" subscale (5.83). Sub-scales of "scepticism and intellectual hostility" (4,95), "emotional-cognitive hostility" (3,72), "physical aggression" (3,65) and "emotional reactive anger" (3,55) follow. The mean scale obtained by the participants from the verbal aggression and skepticism-intellectual hostility was above the average (M = 4,5). According to the results of the t-test analysis conducted to determine the difference between gender groups in terms of religiosity attitudes, it was found that women's religiosity scale obtained a higher average than the relationship with God, the source of power and trust. The difference was statistically significant (p =, 014). Further, the gender variable leads to a difference from the "unhappy and dissatisfaction" and "fatigue and avoidance" dimensions of the trait anxiety scale. While the average of males was high in the unhappy and dissatisfaction subscale, the women scored high in the fatigue and avoidance subscale. The t-test analysis revealed that the gender variable caused a difference in the aggression scale. The averages obtained from "physical aggression", "emotional hostility" and "anger" subscales are in favor of men. In other words, men tend to have more aggressive thoughts and behaviors than women. According to the results of the regression analysis conducted to determine the relationships and interactions between the variables, it was understood that continuous anxiety was positively correlated with "emotional hostility", "emotional-reactive anger" and "skeptical and intellectual hostility" subscales. Explain anxiety accounts for about 37% of the change in the emotional cognitive hostility dimension of aggression. Define anxiety accounts for approximately 30% of the change in the emotional-reactive anger dimension of aggression and 14% of the change in the sceptical and intellectual hostility dimension. According to the results of regression analysis, the two dimensions of religiosity and aggression subscales have entered into relationship and interaction. The "relationship with God" subscale of religiosity entered into relationships and interactions with other dimensions of aggression except for the "skeptical and intellectual hostility" dimension, while the "religious belief and solidarity" subscale of religiosity only interacted and interacted with the "emotional-reactive anger" dimension of aggression. The negative (-) value of the relationship indicates that the increase in religiosity can lead to a decrease in aggressive behavior. According to the findings, the relationship between religiosity and God; It can be explain about 15% of the change in the physical aggression subscale, about 11% of the change in the emotional-cognitive hostility subscale, about 18% of the change in the emotional-reactive anger dimension, and about 15% of the change in the verbal aggression dimension. The religious belief and solidarity dimension of religiosity explains about 16% of the change in the emotional reactive anger dimension of aggression. The results of this study are limited to the sample group, the time of the study and the ability of the scales to measure. It is thought that the results of this paper can contribute to the literature and can shed light on the further studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Aggression is defined as the feeling of anger and the tendency to act destructively as a result of obstructing a behavior, and it is frequently seen today. The purpose of this study is to examine the psychometric properties of the 'Children's Aggression Scale Teacher Form' (CAS-T) and to adapt it into Turkish. The scale is the teacher version of the CAS-T, which has been examined in Turkey. The scale was developed to measure the severity, frequency, extent and diversity of aggressive behavior. Methods: The CAS-T Form consists of 23 items and five subscales. The scale was applied to the parents and teachers of 476 primary school students who showed aggressive behaviors and were directed to the child psychiatry clinic for diagnosis and treatment. For the validity of the scale, the relation was examined with similar scales. The difference between the groups was examined both in terms of diagnosis and gender, and confirmatory factor analysis was performed in the context of structure validity. For reliability, internal consistency is calculated. Conclusion: According to the findings of the research, it is thought that Turkish form of CAS-T Teacher Form is a reliable and valid measurement tool that can be used in the field of research and treatment. Objectives: The objective is to evaluate tendencies to aggression among nursing students and to analyze the risk factors that may increase the aggression. Methods: The population of our descriptive and cross-sectional study consists of 350 students studying at the department of nursing of a university in İstanbul. Sampling includes 236 students who are representative of the population, are 18 years or older, and were selected with the basic random sampling method. All volunteered to participate in the study. The data were obtained using the questionnaire form and the Aggression Scale, and the self-rating method was used to obtain data. Statistical data analysis was performed using chi-square test, Mann- Whitney U test and logistic regression analysis. Results: The aggression scores of the males whose mothers were exposed to physical violence by their fathers, who were exposed to physical violence by their mothers and fathers, and who used physical violence were found statistically more significant. As a result of the logistic regression analysis, being exposed to physical violence by the mother, using physical violence, being a male, having a father who uses physical violence against the mother, mother's and father's educational status of primary school and having two or more siblings are specified as certain risk factors for the high tendency to aggression. Conclusion: Considering the outcomes of the study, we recommend that education programs be prepared in order to evaluate nursing students in terms of these risk factors, and for nursing students who display a high tendency toward aggression. Nutrient deficiencies and disturbances in metabolism of neurotransmitters and hormones, induced by nutrient deficiencies, affect the behavior of individuals. In this review, the effect of deficiencies that occur in the body as a result of hunger on the formation of aggression and violent behavior are intended to be explained by biological processes. Articles published between the years 1993-2014 using keywords hunger, lack of nutrients, aggression, violence were scanned on Pubmed database, hormone and neurotransmitter imbalances occurring in the body during fasting and nutrient deficiency, and their effect on aggression and violent behavior were compiled. Tryptophan is the most associated amino acid with violence and aggression and a decrease in the amount of serotonin in the body can lead to the formation of these behaviors, when fed a diet low in tryptophan. Among fatty acids, the lack of omega-3 is the most associated deficiency with violence mechanism. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies may lead to the formation of undesirable behavior and misalignment in the nervous system. Vitamin D, Vitamin B-complex, iron, zinc, lithium and magnesium are the most associated compounds with undesirable behaviors. In women, low progesterone and high testosterone levels can trigger violent behavior. Low serotonin and high dopamine levels play a role in the formation of aggressive behavior. Hunger and associated nutrient deficiencies can affect family members and may be the cause of negative behavior towards children. Food deprivation, hunger and their effects on violent mechanisms are public concerns and issues that need to be studied more. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TRAFFIC accidents , *PSYCHOLOGY of automobile drivers , *ANGER , *PROBLEM solving , *AGGRESSION (Psychology) , *FACTOR analysis - Abstract
Traffic accidents, which cause a great number of death, injury and economical loss, are one of the major problems in Turkey. The usual suspect for traffic accidents are drivers. Despite the fact that almost 90% of accidents happen because of drivers' mistakes, the relationship between drivers' behaviors and traffic accidents have not been adequately investigated. This current study investigates factors causing anger on drivers and the drivers' response against these factors. In addition, the effects of variables such as sex, age, marital status, level of education, number of accidents, number of tickets, maximum speed made by drivers and experience on drivers' aggression were also investigated. The study was conducted with 226 female and 241 male subjects in the city of Erzurum, Turkey. Data were analyzed using MANOVA, correlation and multiple regression tests on SPSS 17.0. Findings showed that drivers particularly become angry when they face hostile gestures from other drivers. The first way of anger expression chosen by drivers is verbal. In addition, sex, age, marital status and number of accidents affect the level of drivers' anger and anger expression. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Some biological researches on aggressive behaviors suggest that cortical excitability and inhibition imbalance cause behavioral problems like reactive aggression, impulsivity and inability to behavioral control. The purpose of the study is to evaluate whether cortical excitability-inhibition imbalance is responsible for aggressive behaviors in adult young men with antisocial personality disorder in which aggressive behavior is one of the key features. Method: We studied 42 subjects with antisocial personality disorder and 44 healthy controls matched for age and education level. The electrophysiology of cortical inhibition and excitability was measured with transcranial magnetic stimulation. SCID-I, SCID-II, Aggression Questionnaire, and Edinburg Handedness Inventory were performed to all subjects. Results: Motor threshold, cortical latency, and central motor conduction time, which are related with cortical excitability, have been found statistically significant lower on antisocial personality disorder group compared with healthy controls. There was no difference between two groups on cortical silent period which reflects cortical inhibitory mechanisms. Conclusion: The results indicate an increase in cortical motor excitability on antisocial personality disorder, and we suggest that the cortical imbalance might render the person prone to behavior problems. Using demand-feeders, time-place learning association of food was investigated in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in 2 small raceways (TR1 and TR2). In order for the fish to be visually identified, they were tagged individually and their behaviour and distribution were monitored by cameras. Equipping with a demand-feeder, TR1 was assigned to test 2 times/1 place (2T/1P) while 2 demand-feeders were used in TR2 assigned to test 2 times/2 places (2T/2P). After 26 days of restricted feeding (RF) the fish were deprived of food for 3 days. The results of the present study indicate that, at the group level, rainbow trout are not able to clearly demonstrate time-place learning except for some fish in the group. These fish were identified as dominants, in terms of a higher rate of agonistic acts or a greater amount of food eaten. Feeding behaviour was largely influenced by social dominance of the group, especially through territoriality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mobbing practices have recently been increasing in organizations. The damage of mobbing against employees and organizations has created a need for precautions. The most crucial point in struggling with mobbing is to provide the awareness of victims and managers. Although mobbing practices have been frequently seen in public and private sector in Turkey, what this process in organizations means has not been known well yet. In all over the world, especially in developed countries, preventive and improving studies have been applied to solve mobbing problems. The literature about the precautive actions to prevent mobbing and applicability of these precautions are so limited. This study analyzes the preventive actions that can be adopted by any organization for mobbing management, except personnel techniques such as rehabilitation and therapy are not included.
