Purpose The purpose of this paper is to obtain the mechanical behavior and damage mechanism of the coal and rock near the stope under the stress state and stress paths of the surrounding rock with the dynamic mining. Design/methodology/approach Through the three-axial compression test and the uniaxial compression test by meso experiment device, the mechanical behavior and fracture evolution process of coal and rock were studied, and the acoustic emission (AE) characteristics under uniaxial compression of the coal and rock were contrasted. Findings Under the three-axial compression, the strength of coal and rock enhance significantly by confining pressure. The volume of outburst coal shows obvious stages: compression is followed by expansion. The coal first appear to undergo compaction under vertical stress due to volume decrease, but with the development of micro- and macro-cracks, the specimens appeared to expand; under the uniaxial compression, through the comparison of stress–strain relationship and the crack propagation process, stress drop and fracture of coal have obvious correlation. The destruction of coal was gradual due to the slow and steady accumulation of internal damage. Due to the influence of the end effect, the specimens show the “conjugate double shear failure”. The failure process of the coal and rock and the characteristics of the AEs have a corresponding relationship: the failure causes a large number of AE events. Before the events peak, there was an initial stage, calm growth stage and explosive growth stage. There were some differences between the rock and coal in the characteristics of the AE. Originality/value These research studies are conducted to provide guidance on the basis of mine disaster prevention and control.

The AC fault of receiving end power grid can cause HVDC continuous commutation failure, bring very high power impact on both of the sending and receiving end power grid, which will threaten the safe and stable operation of the AC-DC interconnected system. The voltage drop of converter station caused by AC faults is an important reason for HVDC continuous commutation failure. By preventing the transmission of AC fault, that is, enhancing reactive power support capability of AC power grid is an important measure to suppress HVDC continuous commutation failure. So after analyzing the dynamic characteristics and mechanism of HVDC commutation failure caused by AC faults, an emergency control method of the reactive compensation devices near the inverter stations is proposed in this paper to decrease the voltage drop under faults and reduce power impact of HVDC commutation failure on the whole system. Firstly, based on the characteristics of the actual power grid and the distribution of the reactive compensation devices, the devices which are involved in the emergency control measures inside the inverter station and nearby are determined. Secondly, the sensitivity of each device switching to the bus voltage of converter station are calculated. Then according to the sensitivity index and the drop or rise condition of transient voltage of converter station, the emergency control amount of the compensation devices is calculated. At last, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the simulation of actual power grid.

The dynamic change of mining-induced stress is the main reason for large deformation of surrounding rock. To investigate the influence of mining-induced stress and deformation is important for appropriate supportive design. It also helps to raise the safety and productivity of longwall mining operations. In this paper, Weijiagou Coal Mine in Southwest China was selected as the case study. In order to research on the deformation and breakage of overlying strata, physical modeling test was carried out on the self-developed rotatable physical similar test system. By using digital image correlation (DIC) technique, the deformation of strata and development of cracks in the process of coal seam excavation were acquired, meanwhile, mining-induced stress was also monitored by pressure cell and strainmeter. According to the mechanical structure of stope, the height of the destressed zone has a significant influence on stress distribution. In order to minimize the discrepancy between the physical model test and theoretical analysis, the dimension of the plastic zone of roadway was added into the mining panel width, and the gap between the experimental and theoretical results reduced.

Automotive Ethernet is becoming the backbone network of future vehicle because of its large data bandwidth and high communication speed. In order to satisfy the requirements of vehicle communication, the network needs the characteristic of seamless redundancy. IEEE P802.1 CB is one of the TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking) active projects, which provides seamless redundancy character for Automotive Ethernet by frame replication and elimination at flexible position to improve reliability. In this paper, the operating principle of IEEE P802.1 CB was analyzed, including network topology, redundancy tag, sequence generation function, sequence recovery function, timeout mechanism and latent error detection. A network complying IEEE P802.1 CB was simulated in Visual Studio and 7 situations of packet transmission were tested in CppUTest. The results show that when IEEE P802.1 CB is used over a network that are fixed to a specific topology, and that are protected against congestion loss, it can substantially increase seamless redundancy character for the network and is especially suitable for time-critical system.

Objective: A case series is presented to investigate the efficacy and safety of Erhegao for patients with breast cancer who have radiotherapy-induced moist desquamation.Eighteen women with breast cancer who received radiotherapy and developed moist desquamation were enrolled. Erhegao cream, a Traditional Chinese Medicine formula consisting of zinc oxide powder, calamine powder, and lithospermum oil, was applied on areas of moist desquamation. Application was repeated once a day until healing. The primary end point for efficacy was the time to healing of the moist desquamation areas. A numerical rating scale was used to measure wound pain relief daily. Incidence of toxicity was also assessed.The average time to healing of the moist desquamation area was 13.56 days. The mean pain scores on the first, third, and seventh days were 5.22, 2.94, and 0.83, respectively. Eight-three percent of patients reported pain relief after the first 3 days, and 94%, after the first week. The mean daily reduction in the pain score was 0.40. None of the patients developed clinical infections or reported any toxicity.This formula is effective and safe, especially for pain relief, and may be an alternative treatment for radiotherapy-induced moist desquamation in patients with breast cancer. Future randomized, controlled studies are needed to better evaluate the efficacy of Erhegao cream.

9091 Background: Abivertinib (AC0010) is a potent, selective third-generation EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that demonstrated clinical efficacy and manageable adverse events (AEs) in the phase 1 portion of the study in Chinese patients with EGFR T790M+ NSCLC. Here we report the results from patients enrolled to the phase 2 portion of the study (NCT02330367). Methods: The study enrolled locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC patients who were ≥ 18 years, progressed with the prior EGFR-TKI therapy, and must have T790M+ in tumor based on the central laboratory test. All patients received the recommended phase 2 doses of 300 mg twice daily [BID]. Results: As of March 5, 2018, 227 patients received treatment, majority of patients had adenocarcinoma (n = 220, 97%) with the median age of 59 years, 65% (n = 148) patients were female, most patients were non-smoker (n = 171, 75%), ECOG performance status of 1 (n = 162, 71%). The median treatment duration was 21 week. The treatment-related adverse events (AEs) were reported for 96.9% (n = 220) patients, mostly of grade 1 or 2 severity. The most common drug-related grade 3/4 AE (≥2%) was ALT increase (7.0%), AST increase (4.8%), diarrhea (4.4%), interstitial lung disease (4.0%), neutrophil count decrease (3.5%), and there was no drug-related grade 5 AEs. Among 209 response evaluable patients, per investigator’s assessment, 90.0% (n = 188) patients had tumor size reduction, the objective response rate (Complete Response + Partial Response [PR]) was 50.2% (n = 105; 95% CI 43.3%, 57.2%); 37.8% (n = 79) had stable disease, and the disease control rate was 88% (95% CI 82.9%, 92.1%). The median duration of response and progression-free survival estimated by Kaplan-Meier was 7.5 months (95% CI 6.0, 9.2) and was 7.5 months (95% CI 6.0, 8.8), respectively. Conclusions: Abivertinib demonstrated the clinical efficacy with manageable side-effects in patients with EGFR T790M+ NSCLC. Therefore, abivertinib could be a suitable treatment for patients with EGFR T790+ disease who have progressed on an EGFR-TKI. Clinical trial information: NCTNCT02330367.

The analysis of gradual mechanical responses of coal and gas migration within the coal in front of a mining face is crucial to coal and gas outburst prevention and control. In the present paper, the stress distribution of an entire stope is numerically studied by FLAC3D. The stress state and its development within coal in front of a mining face are analyzed, and a simplified physics model is developed based on the simulation results. The crack expansion process of a coal specimen under a quasi-plane strain condition is studied using a coal solid–gas coupled meso-mechanics system that is imported into COMSOL for simulating the gas migration of coal in front of a mining face. A self-established solid–gas coupling constitutive model, which considers the gas pressure and gas adsorption, is used. The gas pressure gradient and speed of gas migration reach maximum values near the free sidewall, which is in agreement with the field test results.

We propose the high speed signal wavelength conversion based on stimulated Raman effect on silicon waveguides. Simulation results of non-return-to-zero (NRZ) pseudorandom bit sequence (27-1 code) at 500-Gb/s rate of conversion in an ultrasmall silicon-on-insulator (SOI) optical waveguide are presented by co-propagating pump optical field. The most attractive issue is that the inverted converted signal can be obtained at the same wavelength as that of primary signal. In addition, the conversion performances, including extinction ratio (ER) and average peak power of conversion signal, depend strongly on the launching pump intensity.

A new optoelectronic hybrid numerical system for the parallel processing of polynomial evaluation is presented. A new free-space optical interconnection, the inverse perfect shuffle (IPS), is adopted. For optical implementation of the inverse perfect shuffle, a special polarized prism was designed and used; the inverse perfect shuffle can make the polynomial evaluation operating time minimal, which is proporational to log 2 N .

And, a suite of benchmarks, including several parallel applications with different characteristic of parallelism, workload and communication pattern, are designed and presented in this paper. The experiment results show that, the highest speedup ratio is up to 15.850.

New tendencies envisage multiprocessor systems-on-chips (MPSoCs) as a promising solution for high performance embedded System. And the key challenge is how to improve the communication efficiency. Network on Chip (NoC) has been considered as a new paradigm in the next generation communication architecture for its scalability and power efficiency. A NoC prototype which consists of 8 ARM compatible cores and a router-based on-chip network was designed and implemented on FPGA device. An application of JPEG decoding was fulfilled on this prototype and the task partition was discussed. Specially, a method of buffer sharing was proposed. Based on the method, buffer elements can be shared in part between different channels of the router. A well-designed on-chip monitoring network was implemented for Performance evaluation. Experiment results show that the buffer sharing method can save memory resource distinctly.

The importance of the memory hierarchy has increased with advances in performance of processors in Chip Multi-Processor(CMP) system. However, the research of on chip memory subsystem for Multiprocessor has not been undertaken thoroughly. In this paper, we develop two distributed shared memory hierarchies based on distributed shared-bus and Network-on-Chip(NoC), and the performances of these prototype designs are evaluated under JPEG decoding application, and implement them on a FPGA device. We compare the performance between the different on chip memory subsystem with the application, and the results show that the distributed shared memory hierarchy based on distributed shared-bus provides the best performance of speedup ratio with the least processor and that the NoC memory hierarchy provides the best performance of speedup ratio with the more processors.

A dynamically reconfigurable computing system based on network-on-chip (DReNoC) is proposed, which consists of computing nodes and communication nodes. The computing node is a complete coarse-grained dynamically reconfigurable SoC named DReSoC. And the DReSoCs communicate with each other through on chip network routers. The proposed DReNoC has been implemented on the ALTERA STRATIX II EP2S180 DSP development board with 48063 Combinational ALUTs and 26211 logic registers. Experimental result of 8?8 matrix sequential matrix multiplications showed that, compared with a single-core system-on-chip (SoC) based on the standard Nios II processor, the speed-up ratio can reach 124.911.

An improved genetic algorithm based on multiple population evolving is presented and applied to the optimization of orthogonal coded signal group for MIMO radar systems. According to the fitness of individuals, the population is divided into three groups and different evolving strategies are applied to every sub-population. The inosculation to all sub-population is actualized. This algorithm can strengthen and preserve the diversity of population. Meanwhile it can enhance the constringency speed and overcome the precocity of GA. Simulation results show that the improved genetic algorithm is effective and the optimized signal can used in MIMO radar.

Performance evaluation for Network on Chip (NoC) is still a challenging problem. This paper presents the design of an on-line configurable traffic generator (OCTG) that provides a fast and effective traffic generation environment for evaluating the communication performance of Network-on-Chip (NoC). The novelty of the proposed OCTG architecture lies in the fact that it is different from just having some configurable parameters as the conventional design in order to improve its flexibility but it holds out on-line configuration. Parameters are transferred to the configuration engine through JTAG interface, then the configuration engine creates configuration signals to OCTGs to perform online configuration. The OCTG comprises two traffic modes: broadcast transmission (BT) and node to node transmission (NTNT). The OCTG can restart communication immediately without any other operations after completing configuration even when the communication transaction is running. Some communication traffic modes can be exactly emulated by the OCTG, so we can evaluate the NoC communication architecture in different traffic modes or compare the NoC performance with different architectures. Experiments showed that NoC performance with the same architecture in NTNT (node (i, j) to node (j, i)) is better than that in BT. And the XY routing is better than that with odd_even router in BT when the injection rate is more than 0.2. But when the injection rate is less than 0.2, the later is better than the former only in average packet latency.

The Multiprocessor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) is a promising solution for future complex computer and embedded systems. And, the Network-on-Chip (NoC) has been proposed as the future on-chip interconnection. Whereas, the NoCs bring more challenge on parallel programming and synchronization of different processor cores. This paper proposes a new cluster-based homogeneous MPSoC architecture, which adopts the hybrid interconnection composed of both bus-based and NoC architecture. This architecture has been implemented as a prototype by FPGA device, which integrates 17 processor cores. The performances of this prototype are evaluated under two real applications, matrix chain multiplication and JPEG picture decoding. The speedup ratio of this prototype is up to 15.850.

EMC performance of transmission medium in real time on-board network is one of those important factors affecting the control property of the distributed system. Now twisted pair is the most commonly used transmission medium in vehicles. Twisted pair can be divided into shielded twisted pair and unshielded twisted pair. The difference between them is that the former one has a metallic tape which has some shielding effect. Theoretically shielded twisted pair should have better EMC performance, but in practical applications unshielded one may perform better. In order make a comparison of EMC performances for these two types of transmission medium used in automotive CAN-bus, firstly the paper develops testing plan and evaluation methods for EMC performance of twisted pair according to the existing standards. Then the testing plan is developed, afterwards test results are achieved and analyzed. Finally comparison is executed and suggestions of the selection of these two different twisted pair used in automotive CAN-bus are given.

With the development of IC technology and the increasing processing power requirement, more and more processing cores are being integrated into one single chip. One of the key problems is the communication efficiency between the processing cores, and network on chip (NoC) has been proposed as prospect architecture. In this paper, scalability issue of 2-D mesh based NoC is analyzed. First, a mesh based NoC router using XY routing algorithm is designed and implemented in FPGA prototype. Second, 2*2 and 3*3 NoCs are constructed using the above router module, with each router connected to a processing core via the resource network interface (RNI). At last, pipelined matrixes multiplications and FFT are executed to evaluate the 2-D mesh based NoC performance, together with the router area overhead in the case of increasing processing nodes numbers. Experiments showed that 2-D mesh based NoC architecture is easy scalable in increasing processing nodes numbers with small resource overhead.

The network on chips (NoCs) is a promising solution for future on-chip interconnection. In this area, fast and accurate performance evaluation and design space exploration for the NoCs are critical issues. In this paper, we design a NoC prototype which consists of 4 ARM compatible cores and a router-based on-chip network, and implement it on a FPGA device. The performances of this prototype are evaluated under two real applications. Specially, we compare the performance of NoC architecture with which of hierarchy shared-bus and point-to-point architecture. The results show that the NoC architecture provides the best performance of speedup ratio with moderate area overhead.

There are complicated underwater topographies in the offshore sea area of north Jiangsu, including the middle radial sand ridges and northern Haizhou bay underwater shoal. So there form special marine dynamic conditions and typical shoal wetland ecosystem. Previous main researches of these sea areas were focused in the forms of morphogenesis and the characteristic of conformation of sand ridges. Few studies have done on three dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality simulation. This paper introduced EFDC to study the tidal current fields, dilution and diffusion of the sewage outlet near Yangkou Port. Comparison between computation results and the observed data indicates that this model could reasonably simulate hydrodynamic fields. Based on the computed tidal current fields, the distributions of COD concentration were simulated. The range of contamination diffusion derived from sewage outlet was very limited, and the influence range of sewage came to the maximum when ebb slacks in neap tide period.

As the key-ligament between the customer and the generation & transmission system, distribution system plays a very important role in ensuring the continuous power supply for customers in safety and in high reliability. Therefore, the scientific evaluation on the power supply capacity of urban distribution network is of enormous social and economical significance. To improve the insufficiency of traditional method based on the load supply capacity referring from the transmission, this paper proposes a simple and practical method to evaluate the power supply capacity of distribution network. Firstly, the basic definition of the power supply capacity based on the N-l guideline is presented, which is composed of tow parts: one is the power supply capacity of substations, and the other is the transfer capacity of network. Secondly, according to the definition stated above, general formulas about power supply capacity of substations and network transfer capacity are deduced, and the relationship between the power supply capacity of substations and the transfer capacity of network is studied, in which the optimal transfer capacity is concluded consequently. Finally, the theories are summed up and a flow chart of power supply capacity analysis is drawn up. Through application in a district of Shanghai, China, the effectiveness and the accuracy of the proposed model are demonstrated. To summary, the method proposed in this paper under the N-l guideline is a simple and practical method to evaluate the power capacity of a distribution system; besides, the conclusions about network optimal transfer capacity based on power supply capacity can provide effective references for urban distribution network planning.

A new architecture based on parallel FIR systolic arrays for motion compensation interpolation in H.264/AVC is presented in this paper. Unlike other interpolation architectures based on traditional adder tree or one systolic FIR, this design has advantages of both the pipeline property of systolic FIR filter and high parallel property. It has following characteristics: First, it uses several strategies to reduce the number of memory access. For example, the design fully uses the recursive relation between the fractional-pel samples, the appropriate interpolation orders for different situations are adopted, and two buffers are designed for storing immediate values. Second, it can increase the system clock frequency by using the systolic FIR filter to replace the traditional adder tree. Third, it can enhance the interpolation throughput by generating four fractional-pel samples in parallel. Fourth, it doesnpsilat need high memory bandwidth and can work under different bus-width by changing the number of systolic FIR filters. The design is synthesized with synopsys design compiler by using TSMC 0.18 um standard cell CMOS technology. The synthesis result shows that this architecture can achieve 230 MHz and meet the need for interpolation of the H.264 decoder for SDTV or HDTV.

Multi-core technology has become a trend in high performance System on Chip (SoC) design. And the key challenge is how to improve the communication efficiency. Network on Chip (NoC) has been considered as a new paradigm in the next generation communication architecture for its extensibility and power efficiency. This paper proposed crossbar NoC architecture and its FPGA prototype design, and the major contribution lies in the following aspects. Fist, a NoC with both shared variable and message passing programming models is proposed. The shared variable method uses previously designed hierarchy bus and the message passing model uses the full connect crossbar. Second, a 4-core NoC FPGA prototype is implemented on the Altera FPGA device. Resource utilization is analyzed between the crossbar NoC and the hierarchy bus components. Experimental results showed the resource utilization of crossbar NoC modules are very small with 2.85% in combinational logic and 3.69% in sequential logic.

To achieve a balance between high performance and energy efficiency, embedded systems often use heterogeneous multiprocessor platforms which tuned for a well defined application domain. Meanwhile FPGA is known for providing designers with several benefits in system design. One most important is high programmability and low risks. In this paper we demonstrate the design of an FPGA-based heterogeneous multiprocessor system integrating 4 Nios II soft cores and 1 ARM core. ARM core is the central controller of the whole system, and 4 Nios II cores are served as slaves, which are commanded by ARM core and responsible for processing regular and quantity data. ARM core and Nios II cores cooperate and work in parallel to accomplish each task. FPGA utilization of current implementation is 13% requiring 19,593 ALUTs on Altera Stratix II EP2S180.

The Controller Area Network (CAN) is widely used for distributed systems in automotive and other applications such as safety-critical applications. As such, it is necessary to evaluate the property of the continuous working ability of a CAN node. In this paper we setup a discrete time Malkov chain model based on the fault confinement mechanisms of CAN to calculate how long a CAN node can work normally before it goes into its "bus-off" state. An example will be given to show the theoretical conclusion finally.

The method of Spherically Invariant Random Process (SIRP) allows independent control of the margin probability density function (PDF) and the autocorrelation of clutter, which overcomes the infection of zero memory nonlinear (ZMNL) on autocorrelation. The simulation model of coherent correlation K-distributed clutter using SIRP, with the modeling of coherent pulsed radar clutter, was presented and simulated on computer. The validity of scheme is proved by our simulated results.

The increasing system resources available on field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA) enable the integration of complex system on one programmable chip. This paper focuses on the design and implementation of a hierarchy-bus based multi-processor system-on-chip (MPSoC) integrating 4 ARM processors on FPGA. Experimental results had been obtained running at 60MHz with total area requiring 34% adaptive look-up tables (ALUTs) of Altera Stratix II EP2S180 and a maxim performance speedup of 3.2

Deep learning has become an innovative tool for predicting the properties of a protein. However, obtaining an accurate predictive model using deep learning methods typically requires a large amount of labelled data, which is expensive and time-consuming to accumulate. Even when optimised, these algorithms are often black boxes, which make it challenging to interpret the decision-making processes that lead to the final prediction. Therefore, there is a demand for innovative modelling techniques that overcome these drawbacks within the space of bioinformatic deep learning. To address these issues, we have designed a modelling scheme that utilises techniques from com- puter vision. Specifically, we explore how triplet-networks can form a robust model architecture that is capable of learning and ranking proteins from just a few labelled examples. We evaluate our model on a variety of downstream tasks, including peak absorption wavelength, enantioselectivity, plasma membrane lo- calisation, and thermostability. The embedded representations produced by this method show considerable improvement when compared to previous baseline models. Finally, to emphasise that this is an example of white-box deep learning, we visualised the features produced by the algorithm to gain a better understand- ing as to how the network reaches its prediction for each protein property.

Recent technological advances in modern healthcare have lead to the ability to collect a vast wealth of patient monitoring data. This data can be utilised for patient diagnosis but it also holds the potential for use within medical research. However, these datasets often contain errors which limit their value to medical research, with one study finding error rates ranging from 2.3%???26.9% in a selection of medical databases. Previous methods for automatically assessing data quality normally rely on threshold rules, which are often unable to correctly identify errors, as further complex domain knowledge is required. To combat this, a semantic web based framework has previously been developed to assess the quality of medical data. However, early work, based solely on traditional semantic web technologies, revealed they are either unable or inefficient at scaling to the vast volumes of medical data. In this paper we present a new method for storing and querying medical RDF datasets using Hadoop Map / Reduce. This approach exploits the inherent parallelism found within RDF datasets and queries, allowing us to scale with both dataset and system size. Unlike previous solutions, this framework uses highly optimised (SPARQL) joining strategies, intelligent data caching and the use of a super-query to enable the completion of eight distinct SPARQL lookups, comprising over eighty distinct joins, in only two Map / Reduce iterations. Results are presented comparing both the Jena and a previous Hadoop implementation demonstrating the superior performance of the new methodology. The new method is shown to be five times faster than Jena and twice as fast as the previous approach.
