WOS: 000472046500004, Degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD) is the leading cause of cardiac disease and heart failure in the dog. Advanced age, breed and male gender are well-known risk factors for DMVD. The incidence of the disease in German Shepherds seems to be noteworthy. Early diagnosis of DMVD is related to the identification of a left apical systolic murmur, characteristic of MR in a dog. Dogs with DMVD had a low frequency of arrhythmias compared to other cardiac conditions. The goal of the study was (i) to evaluate the age and gender incidences of the asymptomatic Anatolian Shepherd Dogs (ASHs) with DMVD and, (ii) to investigate the importance of its clinical, radiological, electrocardiographic (ECG) findings and the correlations of those with some echo cardio logical measurements. 35 healthy ASHs (control group) and 38 ASHs with DMVD (experimental group) were used as the materials. The severity of cardiac disease was classified according to the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) consensus statement. Thirty two dogs (84.2%) were males and 6 dogs (15.8%) were females in the experimental group. The median age, the intensity of heart murmur and the severity of mitral regurgitation (MR) of the B2 dogs were bigger (p 0.05). The intensity of murmur was correlated to left ventricle to aorta ratio (LA/Ao) and it was not correlated (P>0.05) to MVLs, vertebral heart scale (VHS), ECG findings and regurgitant jet area to LA area ratio (ARJ/LAA). The aim of this study is to determine the intestinal damage with intestinal biomarkers in calves with atresia coli. Material and Methods: The study was conducted on 40 Holstein calves diagnosed with atresia coli with mild to moderate abdominal distention and 10 healthy Holstein calves which served as the control. Blood samples were collected from all calves, and then serum concentrations of intestinal biomarkers were estimated, namely intestinal fatty acid binding protein (IFABP), liver fatty acid binding protein (LFABP), trefoil factor 3 (TFF3), and intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP), using commercially available specific bovine ELISA kits. An automatic blood gas analyser was employed for determining the lactate concentration. Results: The concentrations of serum LFABP (P < 0.01), IFABP, TFF3, IAP, and blood lactate (P < 0.001) were significantly higher in calves with atresia coli than in healthy calves. Conclusion: The calves affected with atresia coli exhibited severe intestinal damage, and IFABP, LFABP, and TFF3 have significant diagnostic importance and play a useful role in determining the intestinal damage due to intestinal obstruction. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı kan parazitlerine karşı kullanılan imidokarb, buparvaquon ve oksitetrasiklinin koyunlarda maksimum doz ve sürede kombine kullanımının olası yan etkilerini belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmada 10 adet koyuna imidokarb (2.4 mg/ kg), buparvaquon (2.5 mg/kg) ve oksitetrasiklin (20 mg/kg) birlikte kas içi yolla 3 gün ara ile iki kez uygulandı. Kan örnekleri uygulama öncesi (0 kontrol) ve sonrası 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ve 6. günler alındı. Malondialdehid, 8-hidroksi-2-deoksiguanosin, troponin I ve kreatin kinaz-MB isoenzim düzeyleri ELISA okuyucusunda belirlenirken, kalp, karaciğer ve böbrek fonksiyon parametreleri otoanalizörde ölçüldü. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the clinical value of echocardiography for monitoring left ventricular (LV) systolic function in septic calves. A prospective longitudinal study was performed using a convenience sample. Twenty septic calves and 10 healthy calves were enrolled in the study. Arterial blood pressure (BP) was measured and M-mode echocardiography performed to characterize LV systolic function; the latter included measurement of ejection fraction, EF; stroke volume, SVI and cardiac output indexed to body weight, CI; E-point of septal separation, EPSS; pre-ejection period, PEP; ejection time, LVET; ratio of PEP to LVET; velocity of circumferential shortening, Vcf, LV enddiastolic volume index (LVEDVI) and LV end-systolic volume index (LVESVI) on admission and 6, 24, 48 and 72 h later in septic calves and once in healthy calves. Admission data were compared using the Mann-Whitney U test and P < .05 was considered significant. Decreased preload and afterload were present in septic calves, as indicated by marked decreases in BP, LVEDVI, LVESVI, SVI, CI, EPSS when compared to healthy calves. Systolic function appeared adequate in septic calves, based on EF and FS compared to control calves. There was no difference in heart rate, LVET, PEP:LVET, or Vcf between septic and health calves. We conclude that circulatory dysfunction, rather than systolic dysfunction predominates in septic calves. Positive associations on admission between CI and LVEDVI, LVESVI, and SVI support this conclusion. Novel biomarkers including the intestinal fatty acid binding protein (IFABP), the liver-type FABP (LFABP), trefoil factor-3 (TFF3), actin gamma 2 smooth muscle (ACTG2), and Claudin-3 were investigated using bovine specific ELISA kits. Thirty premature calves with respiratory distress syndrome (the RDS group), seven premature calves without RDS (the non-RDS group), and seven healthy calves (control) were included in the study. Blood samples from all the groups were taken at 0 and 48 h for the blood gas and biomarker measurement. It was determined that IFABP (P < 0.05), LFABP (P < 0.05), TFF3 (P < 0.05), ACTG2 (P < 0.05), and Claudin-3 (P < 0.05) in the control group were significantly higher than those in the RDS and non-RDS groups at 0 hour. The LFABP and Claudin-3 concentrations in the control group were statistically higher (P < 0.05) than those in the RDS and non-RDS groups at 48 h, whereas the ACTG2 and TFF3 contents were significantly higher (P < 0.05) than the non-RDS group. Kardiyak hasar şüphesi kardiyak troponin I (cTnI), kreatin kinaz- MB (CK-MB) ve kreatin fosfokinaz (CPK) düzeylerindeki artışla doğrulandı., Sustained polymorphic ventricular tachycardia is a type of ventricular dysrhythmias which originated from more than one focus in ventricle and may lead to fatal arrhythmias like as ventricular fibrillation and sudden death. A seven days old female Holstein calve was referred to the Large Animals Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Selcuk University with a history of sudden collapse. Electrocardiography examination showed sustained polymorphic ventricular tachycardia. Cardiac damage suspicion confirmed by elevation in serum cardiac troponin I (cTnI), creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) and creatine phosphokinase (CPK) concentrations as cardiac damage enzymes.

WOS: 000333080000024, In this case report, the ultrasonographic appearance of the abomasum, changes in some biochemical and blood gases parameters in a cow with anterior abomasal displacement (ADA) were described. Hyperbasemia, hypokalemia, hypocalcemia and hyperlactatemia in the cow with anterior abomasal displacement was detected. Displaced abomasum was imaged approximately 10 cm cranial of the xyphoid process from the left and and right paramedian regions and from the ventral abdomen midline, immediately caudal to the reticulum. This aim of case report was to contribute to the litature data for anterior abomasal displacement that can be also rare in cows.
