A polyoxometalate [Co(phen)3][Co(en)3][Co(en)2(H2O)2][Co(en)2]0.5[ [image omitted]O40(VIVO)2] · 6H2O (1) (en = ethylenediamine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, electron paramagnetic resonance, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, elemental analyses, and thermogravimetry. The structure is an interesting 3-D supramolecular network containing bi-capped Keggin-type molybdenum-vanadium clusters with transition metal complexes generated in situ under mild hydrothermal conditions. Compound 1 contains four different counteractions being coordinated complexes of cobalt. The magnetic properties of 1 have also been studied in the temperature range of 4-300 K, and its magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie-Weiss law, showing ferromagnetic coupling. The title compound, C13H7N5O3·C2H6O, was synthesized by the reaction of 2-cyanoacetamide, malononitrile and 3-nitrobenzaldehyde in water. The asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically independent 6-amino-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile molecules of similar conformation and two ethanol solvent molecules. The nitro group of one molecule is disordered over two positions with site-occupation factors of 0.688 (17) and 0.312 (17). The dihedral angles between the pyridine and benzene rings are 52.06 (11) and 65.12 (13)° in the two molecules. The crystal packing is stabilized by N—H...O, N—H...N, O—H...O and C—H...O intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two novel coordination compounds, [Zn(Hbimh) (H 2 O)]·H 2 O ( 1 ) and [Zn(Hbimh)]·(4,4ʹ-bpy) 0.5 ( 2 ) (H 3 bimh = benzimidazole-5,6-hydrazide, 4,4ʹ-bpy = 4,4ʹ-bipyridine), have been prepared from the hydrothermal in situ amidation cyclization reactions of H 3 bimdc (H 3 bimdc = benzimidazole-5,6-dicarboxylic acid) and hydrazine hydrate (N 2 H 4 ·H 2 O). Compound 1 exhibits a one-dimensional (1D) hexagon channel structure. Compound 2 is a three-dimensional (3D) framework structure, with 4,4ʹ-bpy fill the channels. We also obtained the ligand H 3 bimh. The compounds were characterized by IR, PXRD, TGA and elemental analysis. Abstract: Four new supramolecular architectures based on Keggin polyoxometalates (POMs): [(HSiMo12O40)(H4,4′-bpy)2][(H4,4′-bpy)(H2O)2]·2H2O (1), [(HSiW12O40)(H4,4′-bpy)2][(H4,4′-bpy)(H2O)2]·2H2O (2), [(SiW12O40)(H4,4′-bpy)4]·(4,4′-bpy)·2H2O (3) and [H4SiW12O40](2,2′-bpy)4 (4) (bpy=bipyridine) have been prepared hydrothermally and characterized by IR, UV–Vis spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), powder XRD analyses, elemental analyses, fluorescence analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Both compounds 1 and 2 exhibit supramolecular 2D layer structures. Compound 3 exhibits a novel supramolecular double chain structure. Compound 4 contains a 1D chain structure with two 2,2′-bpy ligands as double bridges. Abstract: A novel 3-D metal–organic framework Nd(2,5-pydc)(nic)(H2O) (1, 2,5-pydc=pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid, nic=nicotinic acid) has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Compound 1 is the first MOF based on mixed 2,5-pydc/nic ligands. The title compound displays an interseting 3-D (6,3)-connected network with the topology of (4.62)2(42 ×610 ×83). Magnetic susceptibility measurements show that compound1 presents a rare ferromagnetic interaction between two adjacent Nd(III) ions. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The hydrothermal reaction of manganese chloride and lanthanum nitrate with 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid (3,5-(NO2)2sal) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) yielded two compounds [Mn(phen){3,5-(NO2)2sal2−}] n (1) and La2(phen)3{3,5-(NO2)2sal2−}2 (NO3)(OH) (2). The title complex, [Cu2(C23H14O6)2(C2H8N2)2(H2O)2], is composed of discrete centrosymmetric mol­ecular dimers, with each CuII atom in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The CuII atom is coordinated by two N atoms from an ethyl­enediamine mol­ecule, two O atoms from two pamoate ligands and one water O atom.
