Through adjustment of the pH value of the reaction system, two series of 3 D lanthanide(III)-copper(I) coordination polymers, namely [Ln2(na)7Cu6Br5(H2O)2] [Ln=La ( 1), Ce ( 2), Pr ( 3), Nd ( 4), Sm ( 5), Eu ( 6), Gd ( 7), Tb ( 8)] and [La2(na)7Cu3Br2(H2O)2]⋅H2O ( 9) (na−=nicotinate), are synthesized hydrothermally and characterized fully. It is worth nothing that these two series of heterometallic compounds are constructed from similar ladder-like Ln-organic chains, but different copper(I) halide clusters. The hydrothermal reaction of rare earth nitrates, CuCN, 2,7-naphthalenedisulfonate (2,7-nds), and isonicotinic acid (Hina) affords a new family of 3-D heterometallic 3d–4f coordination polymers, [Ln2Cu(2,7-nds)2(ina)4(H2O)4]·4H2O (Ln = Nd (1), Sm (2), Eu (3), Gd (4); 2,7-nds = 2,7-naphthalenedisulfonate, Hina = isonicotinic acid). Complexes1–4are structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy (IR), powder X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analyses. X-ray crystal structure analyses reveal that1–4are isomorphous with dinuclear subunit [Sm2(ina)4] binding Cu ions to generate 2-D networks. Such 2-D networks are pillared by linking 2,7-nds ligands to result in the 3-D layer-pillared Ln(III)–Cu(II) coordination architectures. The valence of Cu salts changed in the reaction. Abstract: Three 3D Ln(III)–Zn(II) 3d-4f heterometallic coordination polymers (HCPs) constructed from the coligands 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole and oxalate, {[Ln2Zn19(atz)18(ox)9(Cl)8]·17H2O}n(Ln=Eu 1, Gd 2, Tb 3, Hatz=3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole, ox=oxalic acid) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, TG analysis and X-ray diffraction. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that these complexes are isostructural and feature 3D pillar-layered coordination frameworks constructed by the linkages of 2D layers and 1D zigzag chains, possessing a 5-nodal net topology with Schläfli symbol of {32;52;62}3{33;44;57;65;72}6{33;45;55;6;7}6{36;415;56;6}2{53}4. Abstract: A series of Ln(III)-Ag(I) 4d–4f heterometallic coordination polymers [LnAg(oba)2(H2O)]n (Ln=Dy 1, Ho 2, Er 3) have been synthesized under hydrothermal reactions of 4,4′-oxybis(benzoicacid) (H2oba) with Ln(NO3)3 ·6H2O and AgNO3 at 180°C. All complexes are isostructural with 3D networks expanded from 1D zigzag chains and 2D layers. Abstract: Two different types of novel lanthanide coordination polymers constructed from 5-nitroisophthalic acid, and picolinic acid as auxiliary ligand, namely, {[Ln2(nip)2(pic)2(H2O)]}n (type I, Ln=Pr 1, Nd 2, Sm 3, Eu 4, and H2nip=5-nitroisophthalic acid, Hpic=picolinic acid), and {[Ln4(nip)5(pic)2(H2O)2]·2H2O}n (type II, Ln=Tb 5, Dy 6, Ho 7, Er 8), have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Complexes 1–4 (type I) are isostructural and the infinite 1D Sm-carboxylate chains are bridged by pia ligands to form 2D sheets, such sheets are further united together to generate a 3D supramolecular structure. Complexes 5–8 (type II) are isostructural and the infinite 1D Tb–carboxylate chains are bridged by pia ligands to form 2D sheets, such sheets are further united together to generate a 3D supramolecular structure. Three novel compounds, {[ Ln(Hbidc)(ox)0.5(H2O)] ·H2O} n [ Ln = Pr ( 1), Sm ( 2), Eu ( 3)] were synthesized by hydrothermal reaction of 1H-benzimidazole-5, 6-dicarboxylic acid (H3bidc) and oxalate (ox) with Ln(NO3)3 ·6H2O in the presence of NaOH solution at 180 °C, and were structurally characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveal that all the compounds are isomorphous, displaying 3D networks with 9-connected topology based on the linkages of 2D layers and 1D zigzag chains. In this work, we obtained a highly rare three-dimensional Zn(II) MOF, namely [Zn2(BTC)2(L)][(Me2NH2)2]·DMF (BTC3− =1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate, L=N1,N4-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxamide), and Me2NH2 =dimethylamine cation) by solvo(hydro)thermal method. This polymer was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry and solid-state luminescence analysis. The outstanding structural feature of it is (3, 4)-connected net with unprecedented (6·82)(6·85)(62 ·10)(62 ·83 ·10) topology and self-penetrating motif. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A luminescence quenching enhanced infrared (IR) detector has been developed to achieve highly sensitive recognition of human body by adding metallic luminescence quenchers. Spherical Ag NPs were mixed with Ru(phen) 3 2+ complex to obtain temperature-sensitive Ag/Ruphen/PVDF films. The relationships among luminescence output, temperature rise and silver addition were investigated and a satisfactory combination of enhanced luminescence factor and temperature change was found with an addition of 5 mol% of 71 nm Ag NPs. It is found that the metal-enhanced luminescence output is insignificant compared to its thermal ingredient since silver provides additional possible electron transfer channels, promoting non-radiative transitions and weakening luminescence. Besides, the Ag NPs induced additional temperature rise bringing further reduction of luminescence. The photothermal effect of Ag NPs can attain a higher temperature change under a certain IR radiation without an observed degradation of luminescence output. A coupled optical-thermal model was established to explain the schematic of the constructed infrared thermal detector. The non-invasive detections of moving and stationary human by the detector were successfully demonstrated. The work tends to provide an engineered optical-thermal model in luminophores and construct highly sensitive luminescence-based infrared thermal detectors. Abstract: Four novel functional supramolecular metal–organic coordination polymers, [Cd2Cl3(IP)2(NIPH)2](1), [Zn2(IP)2(μ2-SO4)2(NIPH)2]·2H2O(2), [Cd(IP)2(BPDC)](3), [Zn2(IP)2(NDC)2](4) (IP=1-H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]-phenanthroline, H2NIPH=5-nitro-isophthalic acid, H2BPDC=4,4′-biphenyldicarboxylic acid, H2NDC=2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid), have been obtained through three types of dicarboxylate linkers. All the four compounds are extended into a 3-D supramolecular framework by hydrogen bonds or weak aromatic interactions. The different structures demonstrate the effect of the dicarboxylate ligands on the formation of such coordination architectures. Compound 1 is a 1-D double-stranded loop-like chain with repeated [Cd4(Cl)4]4+ units connected by H2NIPH ligands. In compound 2, there are two indie 1D zigzag chains jointed by sulfate anions with μ2-bridging mode. With different metal centers, compounds 1 and 2 hold different crystal structures. With different auxiliary dicarboxylate ligands, compounds 3 and 4 exhibit disparate 1D chains. The fluorescence property and thermal stability of all complexes are also investigated. • The Ruphen/PVDF films shows high temperature-sensitivity (−4.3 %K−1) at room temperature. • We fabricated a thermal imaging device using Ruphen/PVDF films with IR absorber layer. • The low detecting threshold is found as 313 K for the device, and the response time of 1.17 s and NETD of 1.68 K were observed. The accurate temperature measurement with micrometric spatial resolution is difficult to acquire by using conventional contact thermal probes. Noncontact thermal probes possess great potential for future high resolution accurate temperature measurements. Herein, we report a thermometer based on Ruphen-based temperature sensitive paint (TSP) for high-sensitive remote temperature measurement. TSP consisting of Ruphen and PVDF with sharp emission band and high internal quantum efficiency was designed and employed to fabricate a luminescence thermometer prototype for infrared-to-visible converter in this study. The temperature dependent photoluminescence properties of the different Ruphen/PVDF films were analyzed in the range of 283 K to 363 K, and a relatively high thermal sensitivity (−4.3 %K−1 @ RT) was obtained for low Ruphen concentration sample. The as-fabricated temperature sensor prototype can detect a 623 K thermal object with a response time of 1.52 s and a noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD) of 2.40 K. Furthermore, the effect of IR absorber on the imaging performance was also investigated, and an optimized response time of 1.17 s and NETD of 1.68 K were observed. Two kinds of three-dimensional (3D) coordination frameworks from monometallic to heterometallic, including a charming 3D monometallic complex, namely, [Eu2(mpda)3(H2O)4]n (1) and the first series of novel 3D heterometallic 4d-4f coordination frameworks based on 2,6-dimethylpyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid, namely, [Ln2Cd2(mpda)2(bdc)2(SO4)2(H2O)6]n [Ln=Sm(2), Eu(3), Gd(4), Tb(5), Dy(6); mpda=2,6-dimethylpyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid; bdc=1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid] have been successfully synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized. Crystal 1 is featured by its interesting 3D chain-layer construction which is formed by the alternative arrangement of chains and layers and exhibits 2-nodal 5, 6-connected 3D network with the Schlafli symbol of {33.43.55.64}{36.46.53}. Complexes 2-6 are isostructural and it reveals that these 3D heterometallic compounds are firstly built by H2mpda ligand. What is worth mentioning is that anionic ligand SO42− plays a crucial function in the construction building. The two-dimensional (2D) lanthanide-transition heterometallic bilayers [Ln2Cd2(mpda)2(bdc)2]n are pillared by SO42− subunits forming mixed-ligand complexes with a pillared-layer 3D structure. Complexes 2-6 feature 4-nodal 3, 4, 5, 6-connected 3D frameworks with {4.82}{4.84.10}{42.810.102.12}{42.88} topology. Abstract: The first example of 3D heterometallic 4d–4f 2,7-naphthanlenedisulfonate compounds [LnAg2(2,7-NDS)(IN)3] (Ln=Sm (1), Eu (2), Gd (3), Tb (4), Dy(5); 2,7-NDS=2,7-naphthanlenedisulfonate; IN=isonicotinic acid) has been synthesized via hydrothermal reaction and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analyses, FT-IR spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD) and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). X-Ray structural analysis reveals that compounds 1–5 exhibit same well-organized 3D coordination frameworks that are built up by 2D elliptical cylinder shaped [LnAg2(2,7-NDS)(IN)3] layers which are constructed by 1D anionic chains [Ln(2,7-NDS)(IN)3]2− linking the adjacent Ag(I) ions, and [LnAg(μ2-O)2] units, possessing a 7-connected topology with the Schläfli symbol of {33;411;56;6}. Abstract: Six novel functional metal–organic frameworks, namely, [CdCl(IP)(Hpydc)(H2O)]·2H2O (1), [Cd(IP)(H2imdc)]Cl (2), [Cd(IP)2(H2O)2](1,5-nds)·2H2O (3), [Co(IP)(H2O)4](1,5-nds)·H2O (4), [Zn(IP)(μ2-SO4)(H2O)]·H2O (5), [Zn(IP)(SO4)(H2O)3] (6) (IP = 1-H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]-phenanthroline, H2pydc = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid, H3imdc = imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid, 1,5-nds = 1,5-naphthanlenedisulfonate), were synthesized by controlling auxiliary ligands, metal centers and solvents. In compound 1, Cd(II) is chelated by IP and Hpydc ligands, forming 0D→3D supramolecular structure. Compound 2 is a 1D chain with repeated [Cd(IP)]2+ units connected by H2imdc ligands. With different metal centers, compounds 3 and 4 possess different crystal structures. With solvents regulated, compounds 5 and 6 exhibit distinct structures. In compound 5, sulfate anions show μ2-bridging mode, which results in the formation of 1D chain. In compound 6, only one oxygen atom from sulfate anion coordinates to the metal center, resulting in discrete repeated units. The luminescent properties of 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and thermal stabilities of all compounds were measured. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
