A new hybrid compound consisting of 1,4-bis(4-pyridylthio)butane ([Bpytb]) ligand, namely {[Bpytb]Ag2I3}n (1), has been prepared and characterized by IR spectroscopy, solid UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectrum, X-ray Powder Diffraction (PXRD) and TG. Compound 1 consists of 1D anion chain structure. Crystal system: Monoclinic, Space group: P2/c, a = 4.5092(3), b = 11.1895(9), c = 21.3893(14), α= 90°, β= 92.907(2)°, γ= 90°, V = 1077.82(13) Å3, Z = 2, Dcalc = 2.693 g cm–3. The photocatalytic property of compound 1 was also studied and it exhibits a better degradation effect on organic dye MB.

Tough micro-double-network (mu-DN) ion gels, composed of interpenetrating inorganic and organic networks swollen with 80 wt % of an ionic liquid, were fabricated in an open system using nonvolatile materials: silica nanoparticles for the inorganic network, a cross-linkable polymer for the organic network, and an ionic liquid. The cross-linkable copolymer, poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide-co-N-succinimidyl acrylate) synthesized by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization, was cross-linked in situ with a diamine to form the organic network. On the application of load, the inorganic network was partly destroyed resulting in substantial energy dissipation, but the organic network acted as hidden length to suppress the macroscopic destruction of the mu-DN ion gel. The modulus, fracture strength, and strain-to-break of the mu-DN ion gels were tuned by varying the cross-linking degree of the organic network, which could be controlled by changing either the succinimidyl acrylate content of the cross-linkable polymer or the cross-linkable polymer concentration in the precursor solution.

Inorganic–organic nanocomposite gas barrier membranes with high content of layered double hydroxide (LDH) using surface modified LDH on plastic film were prepared by cross-linking reaction. The effect of LDH content on the gas barrier properties [oxygen permeation and water vapor transmission rate (WVTR)] of the membrane was investigated. The oxygen permeability coefficient of the nanocomposite layer was small, and about one-tenth of polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) and WVTR (thickness 25 µm) of the nanocomposite layer was on the same order as PVDC. The pencil hardness (750 g load) of the nanocomposite membrane was higher than that of substrate, polyethylene terephthalate film. The value was HB. The balance between high gas barrier properties and hardness were thought to be due to the well-dispersed inorganic component (LDH) and organic component in the nanocomposite. From the results, it was found that the reported inorganic–organic nanocomposite membranes can be applied to gas barrier membranes.

A series of one-dimensional silver iodide based inorganic-organic hybrid structures with tunable white light emissions have been synthesized by Cu substitution. The white-light-emitting hybrid 1D-Ag2-xCuxI2L2 (x < 2, L = ligand) compounds exhibit extremely strong luminescence with internal quantum yield (IQY) as high as 95%, significantly higher than most of the previously reported direct white-light-emitting hybrid structures and comparable to the IQYs of commercial phosphors.

A new inorganic-organic hybrid MnIII{Mn}2 with rare Lindqvist-like Mn6 subunits was synthesized. Our studies reveal the distinct advantages of the MnIII{Mn}2 compound as a potential material of proton exchange membranes, including its facile and cost-effective synthesis, insolubility in water, and most importantly, its maximum proton conductivity of 4.69 × 10-3 S cm-1 at 368 K and 97% RH.

It is quite meaningful for improving the properties of Spiro-OMeTAD-based hole transport materials (HTMs) to realize high-efficiency and stable perovskite solar cells. In this work, a polyoxometalate (POM)-based inorganic–organic hybrid [Cu(phen)2]2[(α-Mo8O26)](CMP) with strong electron-accepting properties was successfully synthesized and for the first time introduced into Spiro-OMeTAD to achieve quantitative and controllable oxidation of Spiro-OMeTAD, which presents obviously increased conductivity in comparison to its counterpart. Accordingly, the corresponding perovskite solar cells’ (PSCs) performance shows a substantial improvement. The optimal device achieves a power conversion efficiency (PCE) as high as 18.72%, which is higher than that of the ever-reported POMs-based PSCs. Meanwhile, CMP-based PSCs also show long-term stability. This work provides a feasible and efficient approach for further development of PSCs.

The first two inorganic-organic hybrid three-dimensional (3D) polyoxotantalates (POTas) and the first two inorganic-organic hybrid 2D POTas have been obtained. All of these high-dimensional POTas are built from a new-type POTa dimeric cluster {Cu(en)(Ta6O19)}2/{Cu(enMe)(Ta6O19)}2 (en = ethylenediamine, enMe = 1,2-diaminopropane) bridged by copper complexes. Interestingly, extended POTas 1 and 3 can undergo single-crystal to single-crystal structural transformations triggered by water.

We report two inorganic–organic hybrid materials with pillar-layered architectures, BaC4O4 and PbC4O4, which show uniaxial zero thermal expansion (ZTE) along the hybrid direction over a wide temperature range. The local structure and lattice dynamic investigations reveal that the ZTE derives from the cooperation of the NTE of the inorganic Ba–O (or Pb–O) layer and the PTE of the squarate pillar.

Owing to their unique chemical and physical properties, inorganic-organic hybrid materials have been used in many application fields. In this paper, I have summarized the synthesis and characterization of various inorganic-organic hybrid materials with representative examples from my previous studies. These hybrid materials were used as adsorbents in heavy metal adsorption processes in order to solve metal pollution which is one of the most important environmental problems in the world. This review highlights the operation conditions such as pH, required dose, initial concentration, temperature, and treatment performance. Also, adsorption isotherms and adsorption kinetics are reviewed. This knowledge will provide the basis for the researchers who seek the new synthesis and application of hybrid materials in the future.

A new inorganic-organic hybrid solid, namely, Zn2(dmen)3B10O14(OH)6 (dmen = N, N′-dimethylethylenediamine) was prepared under solvothermal conditions. This compound has a molecular structure with B5O7(OH)3 clusters bridged and decorated by zinc–amine complexes. It is a direct-gap material with a band gap of 5.21 eV. The band structure and density of states of the compound were also calculated based on density functional theory.

In this review, we present important concepts to describe inorganic–organic interfaces in hybrid solar cells. We discuss the formation of hybrid interfaces, provide an introduction to the ground-state electronic structure of the individual components, and detail the overall electronic landscape after combining into a hybrid material for different relevant cases. We then explore the impact of hybrid interfaces on photophysical processes that are crucial for the photovoltaic performance of hybrid solar cells. Within this framework, we discuss methods for hybrid interface modification toward the optimization of hybrid solar cells, such as doping, the application of interlayers, and morphological control. A cathode material based on polyphosphazene with pyrene4,5,9,10-tetraone (PTO) units as electroactive groups with a high specific capacity in the side chain, poly[(bis(2-amino-4,5,9,10-pyrenetetraone)]phosphazene (PPAPT), is synthesized. The structural characterization of PPAPT is carried out by using appropriate standard spectroscopic methods such as 31P NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR, DSC, and TGA. The material is found to be an insoluble and halogen-free flame retardant in accordance with the results of the simple flame test and solubility control in electrolyte solutions accompanied by UV-vis analysis. The electrochemical performance of PPAPT is evaluated as a Li-ion battery cathode material. The fabricated cells demonstrate immensely good capacity retention with 72% after 500 discharge-charge cycles at a high current density of 20 C. In comparison with the pristine PTO, introducing a PTO unit into the side chain of the polyphosphazene leads to substantially improved performance because of the lowered LUMO energy levels of PPAPT. In order to investigate the reversibility of carbonyl groups as an electroactive side with respect to their chemical composition, complementary chemical post-mortem analyses are performed by FT-IR, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations are also proposed to determine HOMO-LUMO levels and investigate the lithiation mechanism of PPAPT.

Three inorganic-organic hybrid solids, namely, Cd2(phen)2(H2PO4)(H2PO3)(C2O4) (1), (H2dab)0.5·Co(H2PO3)(C2O4) (2), and Hdbu·In2(HPO3)2(C2O4)1.5 (3), were prepared under solvent-free conditions, where phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, dab = 1,4-diaminobutane, and dbu = 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene. These compounds have chainlike, layered, and three-dimensional structures, respectively. Compound 1 shows a weak second harmonic generation response. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility of compound 2 was also investigated.

A new perovskite material based on ethylene-diamine-dichloride and lead iodide as organic and inorganic precursors respectively was synthesized. Thin films of perovskite material were characterized using SEM, UV-Visible spectroscopy, XRD, and FT-IR. Sensing properties of inorganic organic perovskite thin films were studied and it was found to be selective for ammonia detection. Ammonia being one of the most hazardous and volatile chemical becomes necessary to detect. Color change of perovskite film from yellow to orange was observed in the presence of ammonia vapors. Electrical measurements showed decrease in resistance in the presence of ammonia vapors. Low concentration upto 50 ppm can be easily detected in approximately 40 s. The present method for detecting ammonia is unique, simple, selective, low cost and can be easily implemented for the field studies.

Inorganic-organic hybrid modifiers have attracted attention of scholars worldwide because they combine the advantages of both different components and provide a way for modifying the structure and properties of polymeric materials. The article describes and investigates a positive effect of reduced flammability of thermoset resins resulting from the use of nanocomposites containing new inorganic-organic hybrid flame retardants (FRs) that combine conventional phosphorous/nitrogen modifiers interacting with nanofillers. The impact of these inhibitors on the level of flammability of thermoset resin compositions was defined by determining the value of limiting oxygen index, thermogravimetric and cone calorimeter analysis of thermal destruction processes. Morphology of composites was assessed using a scanning microscope and an analysis of actual scanning electron micrographic images. The analysis of thermal decomposition of the materials under examination confirmed flammability reducing properties of the inorganic-organic hybrid FR used, and a synergist to generate integrated flame retarding effect was observed between conventional modifiers and nanofillers, in particular carbon nanofillers: expandable graphite, graphene and graphene oxide. The inorganic-organic hybrid FR will provide a new solution to efficient FR polymeric materials.

Synthesis of hybrid particles toward precisely designed hierarchical nanoarchitectures is summarized. In order to satisfy the demands for a variety of materials' performances, the selection of materials, composition and synthesis is carefully done. Flow reactors are one of the useful synthetic means to prepare hybrid materials, especially those with hierarchically and precisely designed multi-components hybrid particles, owing to the efficient mixing and heat exchange in the reactor as well as its connectable (both parallel and sequential) feature. In this review article, after the summary of the preparation of hybrids based on oxides and organics through conventional batch reactors, the application of flow reactors to the preparation of various hybrid particles is introduced to highlight the present status and future possibility of the flow reactor synthesis.

The combination of an electron-rich zinc diphosphonate layer and electron-deficient 2,4,6-tri(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TPT) generates a 3D inorganic–organic hybrid with an [–ED–EA–ED–EA–] arrangement (ED = electron donor and EA = electron acceptor), which exhibits a wide and rapid photoresponse upon exposure to the stimulus of sunlight, UV light and X-rays at ambient temperature. Notably, the coloration time is 0.1 s when exposed to UV light (320 nm) generated from a Xe-lamp (150 W).

An innovative and feasible strategy has been explored to prepare stable and highly effective room temperature fluorescence/phosphorescence dual emission materials, in which N-containing organic aromatic structure-directing agents were coordinated to metal phosphite frameworks.

Herein, few-layered titanate nanosheets with a large lateral size and surface functionalization were synthesized via the exfoliation of precursor layered composites in an organic medium. The combination of layered compounds, intercalated guests, and dispersion media has the potential for the synthesis of nanosheets with controlled lateral sizes, thicknesses, and surface chemistry through exfoliation.

Inorganic polyoxometalates (POMs) have drawn extensive attentions in the fields of chemical catalysis, biological medicine, and energy-store material. Due to their remarkable performances on bioactivity especial in anti-tumor and anti-virus, POMs have been regarded as a novel and potential anti-tumor drug material. However, the purely inorganic POMs would bear obvious defects when they were applied in drug therapy, such as low solubility in organism and high-toxic on normal cell. Therefore, researchers in recent have paid great efforts to improve the solubility and anti-tumor activity of POMs by grafting organic functional groups onto inorganic parent frame. At present, as new and potential anti-tumor drug compounds, these inorganic organic hybrids generated by combining POMs and organic groups have become a hot spot and have been deeply studied around the world. Here in this review, we would like to summarize the important works that reported in the last five years, mainly about the synthetic routes, basic structures, and anti-tumor effects of POMs-organism hybrids.

A new polyoxometalate (POM)-based inorganic–organic hybrid, [Ag4(SiMo12O40)(HBTA)8]·8H2O (1), constructed from the Keggin-type polyoxomolybdates and benzotriazole (HBTA) ligands linked by two dinuclear silver(I) clusters has been obtained and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and IR spectrum. In 1, a pair of parallel Ag2(HBTA)4 units fixed to the central [SiMo12O40]4− stick out like a barbell to support the whole structure. These clusters are extended into the wave-like layers by the strong π–π stacking interactions and hydrogen bonds. The 2D layers are further extended into a 3D supramolecular structure by means of hydrogen bonds (C4–H4⋯O10) between the nitrogen atoms of the HBTA ligands and the oxygen atoms of [SiMo12O40]4− anions. Luminescence property of 1 in CH3CN solution has been investigated. In addition, 1-CPE possesses good electrocatalytic activity toward the reduction of KNO2, H2O2 and KBrO3.

As an effective method to solve the environmental crisis and energy reserve problems, visible light-driven photocatalysts have attracted widespread attention. Various semiconductor materials (such as WO3, CdS, g-C3N4, Ag3PO4 and BiVO4) have been used as photocatalysts. Therefore, in this work, CdS/C3N4 composite photocatalysts were prepared by simple co-precipitation method to improve the performance of CdS, and Rhodamine B (RhB) was used to evaluate the photocatalytic activity. The results show that the composite photocatalyst containing 20% CdS has the highest photocatalytic activity. In addition, the effects of different temperatures on the properties of the samples were investigated by heat treatment. It shows that the properties of 20% CdS/C3N4 (CS-20) are greatly improved after heat treatment, due to the multiphase structure.

By controlling the pH value of the reaction systems, five new inorganic–organic hybrid arsenomolybdates, formulated as [Hdmap]4[(CuO6)(As3O3)2Mo6O18] (1) [Hdmap]4[(CoO6)(As3O3)2Mo6O18] (2) [Co(phen)(H2O)4]2[(CoO6)(As3O3)2Mo6O18]·2H2O (3) {[Co(phen)2(H2O)]2[(CoO6)(As3O3)2Mo6O18]}·4H2O (4) {[Zn(biim)2(H2O)]2[(ZnO6)(As3O3)2Mo6O18]}·4H2O (5) (phen = 1,10′-phenanthroline, biim = biimidazole, dmap = 4-dimethylaminopyridine) have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by the elemental analysis, TG, IR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1–5 have the same [(MO6)(As3O3)2Mo6O18]4− (M = transition-metal) polyoxoanions with different organic ligands to form unique structures. The fluorescent spectra, the electro-chemical behavior and photocatalytic properties of compounds have been studied in detail.

A new inorganic-organic open framework based on Wells-Dawson arsenomolybdate, {Ag(diz)2}3[{Ag(diz)2}3(As2Mo18O62)]∙H2O (1) (diz = 1,2-diazole) has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG, UV, XRD, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In compound 1, each {As2Mo18} cluster uses six terminal oxygen atoms on 'equator' position to attract peripheral six {Ag(diz)2} linkers, which are further connected by six Dawson clusters located on two different planes via unique equator-to-equator interlaced ways to form a unprecedented 3D network with {812 ∙ 123}{8}3 topology. Compound 1 represents the highest covalent connectivity of 3-D Dawson arsenomolybdate, which exhibits merit photocatalytic properties for degradation of refractory dyes Azon Phloxine (AP) under UV light. In addition, compound 1 has a potent inhibition effect on proliferation of Human gastric adenocarcinoma cells (SGC-7901).

An inorganic–organic hybrid compound that features a zero-dimensional inorganic structural framework, N-methylpiperidinium tetrabromoferrate(III) (compound 1, [C6H14N][FeBr4]), has been reported as a new switchable dielectric material with the coexistence of weak magnetic anomalies. It is noteworthy that 1 demonstrates remarkable dielectric responses, which can be tuned between two distinct dielectric states and reversibly switched by phase transition at ∼340 K (Tc). Its high-dielectric constants are at least 4 times as large as that of the low-dielectric state. Structural analysis reveals that 1 belongs to the monoclinic crystal system with the space group P21/c at room temperature, but transforms into an orthorhombic system with the space group Cmcm above Tc. The disordering of organic cations affords a driving force for high-temperature phase transition in 1 along with its switchable dielectric activities. Besides, weak magnetic anomalies were also found in 1 at the vicinity of its Tc, which should be reminiscent of another possible physical channel to the phase transition. This finding suggests that 1 might be a potential multifunctional material with the coexistence of switchable dielectric bistability and magnetic responses, which opens up new possibilities to develop molecular functional materials.

Here, a copper iodide inorganic-organic hybrid structure 1D-CuI(4-Cl-qnx) (1, 4-Cl-qnx = 4-chloro-quinoxaline) has been reported. It is a blue-excitable-yellow-emitting phosphor with internal quantum yield (IQY) of 31.2% under 450 nm excitation, showing promise as a rare-earth free lighting phosphor for white-light LEDs.

The hydrothermal reaction of K8Na2[A-α-GeW9O34]·25H2O, Cu(CH3COO)2·H2O, Ln(NO3)·6H2O and ethylenediamine (en) has led to a series of inorganic–organic hybrid copper–lanthanide heterometal comprising germanotungstates (GTs) [Cu(en)2(H2O)]6[Ln(H2O)(CH3COO)(α-GeW11O39)]2·8H2O [Ln = Nd3+ (1), Sm3+ (2), Eu3+ (3), Gd3+ (4), Dy3+ (5), Ho3+ (6)], which have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, thermogravimetric (TG) analyses and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Their common feature of 1–6 is that they all comprise a CH3COO-bridging mono-Ln substituted dimeric GT fragment [Ln(H2O)(CH3COO)(α-GeW11O39)]212− with six supporting [Cu(en)2(H2O)]2+ complex cations. To the best of our knowledge, such monovacant Keggin-type GTs containing both Cu–Ln heterometal centers and mixed en and acetate ligands are very rare. The luminescence properties and the lifetime decay behavior of the solid sample of 3 have been intensively investigated at room temperature.

Three non-coordinating octamolybdate-templated inorganic–organic hybrid compounds, namely, [Co2(timb)2(Htimb)(H2O)2(β-Mo8O26)0.5] (1), [Zn2(timb)2(Htimb)(H2O)2(β-Mo8O26)0.5] (2) and [Ag4(tyty)2(H2O)(β-Mo8O26)0.5] (3) (Htimb = 1-tetrazole-4-imidazole-benzene, Htyty = 1-(tetrazo-5-yl)-4-(triazo-1-yl)benzene), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, TG analyses and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. All compounds are based on the non-coordinating octamolybdate polyanions as templates. Compounds 1 and 2 are isostructural and display 2D → 3D interdigitated architectures with 1D channels accommodating octamolybdate anions. Compound 3 can be simplified to a double-edged 44-sql net with large pores, in which non-coordinating octamolybdate anions as guests are encapsulated. Furthermore, the magnetic property of compound 1 and the photoluminescence properties of compounds 2 and 3 are discussed.

Synthetic bilayers of double-chained surfactants were successfully constructed by using polyoxomolybdates as inorganic–organic hybrid crystals. Dialkyldimethylammonium ([(CnH2n+1)2N(CH3)2]+, (Cn)2; n = 10, 12, 14, 16) cations were employed to hybridize with octamoybdate ([Mo8O26]4–, Mo8) anion. The obtained crystals were homologues which possessed distinct layered structures composed from alternate stacking of Mo8 monolayers and (Cn)2 bilayers. The layered distances were controllable with an increase in the alkyl chain length of the (Cn)2 cation. Each alkyl chain of (Cn)2 was interdigitated to result in rather unique conformations for the (Cn)2 cations packed in the solid states. Inside the inorganic monolayers, the Mo8 anions were associated with sodium ions to form two-dimensional network, which could be promising for sodium-ion conductive materials.

An arrestive 2-picolinic acid functionalized 3d–4f heterometallic germanotungstate based on plenary α-Keggin [GeW12O40]4− polyanion [Cu2(PA)3(H2O)3][Gd(H2O)8]0.5[Cu2(PA)3(H2O)4]H0.5[α-GeW12O40]·5H2O (1) was synthesized by reaction of Na2WO4·2H2O, GeO2, Gd(NO3)3·6H2O, CuCl2·2H2O and 2-picolinic acid (HPA) in aqueous solution. The polyoxoanion unit of 1 consists of a plenary Keggin [α-GeW12O40]4− anion with a decorated [Cu2(PA)3(H2O)3]+ cation and a decorated 3d–4f heterometallic {[Gd(H2O)8]0.5[Cu2(PA)3(H2O)4]}2.5+ segment and neighboring polyoxoanion units are further expanded into a 1-D chain alignment through unique bridging di‑copper [Cu2(PA)3(H2O)3]+ linkers. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties of the 1@CMWCNTs–Nafion/GCE electrochemical sensor was investigated, which shows a good stability and a good sensing performance toward the dopamine detection. This research offers the possibility of organic–inorganic hybrid heterometallic germanotungstates for serving as electrode response materials.

A photochromic compound with fast response to Mo-Kα (4 min) and Al-Kα (1 s) X-rays was synthesized using a cluster of high-Z atoms and a flexible viologen zwitterion. The coloration time of 1 s when exposed to soft X-rays is the recorded minimum for X-ray-induced photochromic materials, indicating a potential to detect low-energy X-rays.

Inorganic‐organic hybrid nanoparticles (IOH‐NPs) with a general composition [ZrO]2+[RDyeOPO3]2−, [Ln]3+n/3[RDye(SO3)n]n−, [Ln(OH)]2+n/2[RDye(SO3)n]n−, or [LnO]+n[RDye(SO3)n]n− (Ln: lanthanide) are a novel class of nanomaterials for fluorescence detection and optical imaging. IOH‐NPs are characterized by an extremely high load of the fluorescent dye (70–85 wt‐%), high photochemical stability, straightforward aqueous synthesis, low material complexity, intense emission and high cell uptake at low toxicity. Besides full‐color emission, IOH‐NPs are suitable for multimodal imaging, singlet‐oxygen generation as well as drug delivery and drug release. This focus review presents the material concept of the IOH‐NPs as well as their synthesis and characterization. Their characteristic features are illustrated by selected in vitro and in vivo studies to initiate application in biology and medicine.

Hybrid inorganic/organic composite materials have been synthesized from the coupling of amine-functionalized iron oxide nanoparticles (amine-IONs) and pre-established shell cross-linked knedel-like (SCK) polymer nanoconstructs. The magnetically active hybrid networks (MHNs), composed of several interconnected SCKs bound to magnetically active amine-IONs, were designed for their application in the sequestration of hydrophobic contaminants from polluted environments. Initial assessment of the ability of the MHNs to capture complex pollutants, such as crude oil (oil), determined a loading capacity in the range of 3.5–4.5 mg of oil sequestered/mg of MHNs. The magnetic component of the hybrid nanoconstructs was exploited as a facile method of manipulation of the loaded networks, which allowed for the recovery of ca. 93% of the MHNs deployed in water, as well as ca. 90% recovery of the oil originally sequestered. Solvothermal reaction of Pb(NO3)2 with terephthalate acid afforded one new inorganic–organic hybrid framework, [Pb(PBDC)]n (1) (H2PBDC = terephthalic acid). X-ray analysis shows that compound 1 crystallizes in orthorhombic space group Pbca and the two carboxy group of terephthalate acid adopt rare coordination modes. A noticeable point in this paper that compound 1 exhibits preferable catalytic property on degradation of Rhodamine B. The phase purity of the as-synthesized sample was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction. Moreover, satisfactory elemental analysis, IR spectra, and thermogravimetric analysis were obtained.

Organic resistance memory has attracted a lot of attention due to its high scalability, flexibility, easy processing, low fabrication cost, etc. Organic small molecules, which possess well-defined structures and more accurate experiment-simulation matching, have been widely explored as active materials for application in organic resistance memory. In addition, inorganic–organic hybrid polymers are expected to have charming resistive switching properties because they can potentially combine the advantages of both inorganic materials and organic polymers. This review presents the recent progress of organic resistance memory based on several families of organic small molecules and some typical inorganic–organic hybrid polymers, and discussion of their structure–property relationships.

At present, research into polyoxometalates (POMs) is a hot topic in many scientific fields, mainly because of their vast range of potential applications. Recently, the coordination ability of POMs has attracted the attention of the scientific community because it allows them to behave as unusual inorganic ligands. A direct consequence of this ability is the assembly of high-dimensional architectures, which have been reported during the past decade. Thus, the present review considers the latest achievements in the construction of inorganic–organic hybrid materials based on POMs, with a specific focus on their various coordination modes, particularly Keggin-type anions, which are widely available. First, this huge family of compounds is classified based on the number of components in the system. Second, recent research into organic N and O-donor ligands is described.
