PurposeThis paper aims to strengthen the cultural communication and educational function of the library, bringing newspirits and vitality into the development of the librarianship.Design/methodology/approachIn this paper, the practical research on the living book service in university libraries has given concrete cases, the existing problems are analyzed in detail and some suggestions for improvement are extracted when putting forward, which can be used as the reference and be corrected by colleagues and related scholars in the same field.FindingsThere have been many research results on the topic of living book service, but there are few ones with promotional function. Living book service not only satisfies the readers' curiosity and enables them to obtain knowledge and experience they need, but also establishes a good relationship of communication and understanding between “Real Person Books” and readers. It resonates by face-to-face discussion of different life experiences, living experiences or beliefs, and it is also an innovation of the traditional library service mode.Originality/valueBrand activities are taken as examples, and some thoughts and enlightenment on the living book service in the university library are put forward, helping us to better understand and evaluate the library activities.

The article provides a comparative analysis of the cultural practices of political populism and the popular culture. The leading role of the media in the formation and promotion of popular movements and leaders is emphasized. There is a difference in the understanding of a leader's charisma that brings new values, according to Max Weber, and the pseudo-charisma of modern populist leaders that is created by their regular presence in the media. Populist politician is seen as a sign in cultural communication, where the politician’s personality is put as the signifier, and the ideology that the politician promotes — as the signified. Based on this analysis, three ideal types of populists have been identified: a blank sign that is focused on the present and represents populists without ideology; a sign that is oriented on the past and represents a populist national ideology; the sign that is oriented on the future and represents the reformers, the bearers of new social values. Theoretical approaches to the interpretation of popular culture are analyzed and it is pointed out that a mass society emerging is necessary both for the phenomenon of popular culture and for political populism to perform the quantitative indicator of public preferences. Common characteristics in the functioning of popular culture and populism are revealed — symbolism, emotionality, "origin from people", resistance against the system. The decisive role of the media in cultural communication for both popular culture and political populism is emphasized. However, there are significant differences between popular culture and political populism. Popular culture has its own values, while political populism uses values of others. Comparing popular culture and its impact on culture in general on one hand and political popularization and its impact on the political system on the other, a scrutator could expect for some renewal and diversification of current political institutions that would be a positive factor for the global political system and global society.

In the post-pandemic era, coronaviruses will forge a long-term coexistence with humanity, and the fight against the pandemic will become the normal. With international social isolation and limited physical space for communication during the COVID-19 pandemic, the digital communication of cultural heritage based on internet technology has not only proven the importance and necessity of cultural heritage digitalization, but will also greatly accelerate the digital transformation that has already begun. In the post-pandemic era, the accumulation of rich digital data on cultural heritage will form the basis for further cultural communication. However, the collection of digital data is not the final link in this digital chain. Effectively leveraging the advantages of the digital technology – which spreads rapidly and has a broad audience as well as vivid information presentation – to integrate and digitally process the existing and emerging cultural heritage data will continuously combine the cultural heritage with new communication technologies. We should use diversified media platforms to achieve further breakthroughs in the communication model, present the digital communication content of the cultural heritage showing the characteristics of the times, and form real and virtual interaction of cultural heritage in a converged media environment, in order to further ease interpersonal isolation and even space-time constraints brought about by the pandemic, reconstruct the communication ecology of cultural heritage, and inherit and utilize the precious wealth left to humanity by history.

Modern reformation-educational processes are influenced by digital technologies, electronic communications networks, media-art practices, etc. Hence we get the actuality of creative potential of art for pedagogical activity as the concept of philosophy of education. Human consciousness inherents organic interdependence theoretically-cognitive (knowledge, ideas, comprehension of the boundary principles of human existence, culture, procedure of philosophical reflection) and social-psychological (feelings, will) elements. Author’s perennial experience incorporates interactive forms of artistic knowledge activation of pedagogical specialties students: preparations and guided tours by students (museums, architecture of Lviv, etc.), developing skills to conduct dialogues about art and education of the countries which languages are taught in pedagogical institution (Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain). In accordance personal and pedagogical experience of intersubjective communication, existential and cultural self-determination is enriched. In the system of philosophy of education, art is designed to harmonize human existence, to balance the sensory-emotional and rational-intellectual spheres of consciousness. The spread of electronic media requires a thorough study of their impact on humans, given the cognitive problems of communication technologies, information and computer systems, digitalization. A variety of artistic phenomena form a holistic system. Moreover, beliefs are knowledge that has passed through the world of feelings and human will. An open humanitarian space, new dialogical, communicative, cultural opportunities for interaction of nature-man-culture-society-universe, the universal nature of self-organization of human life, education of intersubjective cultural communication between carriers of different types of worldview, values, spiritual traditions is methodologically important.

This study examined the recent issue and perception towards Korean wave on media coverage in Republic of Korea. Korean wave (Hallyu) that refers to a preference of Korean cultural contents, including drama, movie, and music, has been expanded throughout several regions initiated from Asian countries. In order to understand the global cultural phenomenon in a changing media environment, it is necessary to continuously review issues and changes of Korean wave. To investigate recent perception on the media, news data regarding Korean wave were analyzed by applying text-mining. Results showed that issues of news of Korean wave changed according to the social circumstances. For instance, the issue of favoured cultural contents, such as Korean idol “BTS” and the movie “Parasite,” appeared as associated words. In 2020, it was found that COVID-19 was one of the frequently mentioned words related to Korean wave. Diplomacy and communication between countries have real implications for intercultural encounters, and this position must be seen as an event that is not value-free. Indonesian people residing in China, primarily students, have informal tasks with a national mission, which plays an essential role in cultural communication and cultural diplomacy. They are Indonesian students who have artistic abilities and every year they always put on performances, one of which is dance performances. This study describes how a traditional dance from Papua, Yospan, can be used as diplomacy between Indonesia and China. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach; each data obtained will be analyzed using international communication theory and soft diplomacy. This study found that traditional dances and literature in cultural missions are one of the tools of cultural diplomacy that can be used to change the stereotypes and prejudices of foreigners about Indonesia. The conclusion in this study shows that in international communication, traditional culture is a powerful way to build diplomacy. Therefore, this study recommends that the government supports Indonesian students in establishing Indonesian cultural centers in various friendly countries where Indonesian students study.

This study aims to explain social change of post-conflict of the Wulandoni - Pantai Harapan community and what kind of cultural communication space should be built for sustainable reconciliation and peace. The two focus studies above have become very central in reading and analysing the reality of the conflict between the two villages. By using ethnographic method, this study found three things. First, the conflict between Wulandoni and Pantai Harapan villages is not a religious conflict. Even so, it cannot be denied that the discourse on religious conflict was quite developed at that time because the cultural and religious realities of the two villages were quite different. Second, the Wulandoni-Pantai Harapan conflict caused social change and the loss of kinship between the people, especially the loss of the Wulandoni barter market. Third, post-conflict reconciliation and peace efforts are immediately carried out thanks to the cultural and economic relations between the people on the south coast of Lembata Island. These social, economic and cultural kinship relationships are important pillars in creating peace and harmony between communities. This study also opens the discourse of reconciliation and peace based on local culture and economy in the south of Lembata Island.

In Tempurejo, Ngawi, between the 1960s and 1970s, many Ponorogo residents chose to ngenger . Ngenger is living and working sincerely, not paying to a household of someone whose position is much higher in dignity, degree, and education. Children who come to ngenger the background are poor and have the ideology of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) mass organization or abangan . After finishing ngenger , the majority turned into Muhammadiyah activists and developed Muhammadiyah in Ponorogo. From the above problems, this study intends to reveal, First, the process of planting Muhammadiyah ideology. Secondly , there is an ideological transformation. This research was conducted in Ngawi and Ponorogo with qualitative descriptive methods. In-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of extracted data. The study results are the regeneration process carried out first; they see Muhammadiyah as an open, modern, professional organization. Second, families are open-minded and not doctrine. Third, the exemplary of educators and community leaders who have sincerity, the spirit of struggle, and the principle of the emphasis on the importance of Islamic da'wah. The ideological transition from originally an abangan Islam and NU to Muhammadiyah was because as long as the ngenger were introduced to Muhammadiyah organizations that were tolerant, open, modern, professional, and egalitarian.

In the process of the development of Chinese animations, mythical themes have provided a variety of practical materials for the creation of animated films. The recent domestic movies such as Monkey King: Hero is Back (2015) and Ne Zha: I am the Destiny (2019) are cases in point, achieving great progress in both quality and box office in the film industry. It can be seen that Chinese mythology and the creation of animated films are closely related; while the previous animation works might focus on the educational significance in design characters, films were productive while they lack of fun or suspense at some point. In addition, the development of Chinese animation in previous years has also been impacted by American and Japanese animations, an academic worry is that, would the Chinese mythological themes in the process of adaptation be slightly lost? Then, how to understand the connection between Chinese myths and the creation of animations becomes a key subject for writing the paper. In other words, this paper will use content analyses to claim that creation of animation films is to inherit cultural elements of Chinese mythology. Such inheritance not only highlights the national spirit, but also advocates cultural communication, allowing audience to understand the essence of Chinese culture.

The 2019 guidelines for the renewal of general education programs in Lithuania state that there is a lack of coherence between the goals of education, the implementation of the curriculum, and the assessment of students’ achievements. The description of Lithuanian primary, basic and secondary education (2015) states that the main result of education is the gradually acquired competencies indicating the spiritual, intellectual and physical maturity of a person, which include knowledge, understanding, abilities and attitudes. This presupposes that state maturity exams should be designed to reflect the competencies, knowledge, understanding, abilities and attitudes that indicate a person’s maturity. Based on this idea, a qualitative study was conducted in 2020. Its aim was to determine the indicators of personal maturity in Lithuanian conceptual educational documents. To achieve the research goal, we applied the data collection method (document analysis) and the data processing method (content analysis). Qualitative research has shown that a person’s maturity in Lithuania is identified based on a set of competencies. To complete their general education, students should have the following competencies: social, emotional and healthy lifestyles; cognition; creativity; civil, cultural communication. A review of the scientific literature presupposes that at the stage of late adolescent personality development, a person is yet to be in search of their identity. The documents emphasize that competencies are assessed in teacher-student interactions by accumulating qualitative evidence of competencies. Meanwhile state maturity exams measure three groups of cognitive abilities: knowledge and understanding, application of knowledge, and advanced thinking abilities. Personal values and beliefs are not reflected in state maturity exams. The conclusion of the research is that maturity exams do not reflect the maturity of a person described in the conceptual documents of Lithuanian education.

The author examines the current state of literature, which has been marginalized by the boom of modern media and the free market. Literature is called to restore a worthy place in the system of cultural communication of society. It is contradicted by the experience of postmodernism, which has led to disorientation in the system of art values. Postmodernism was an important formation of the transition period. Three aspects of the postmodern worldview ― dehumanization of art, lack of truths' hierarchy and their plurality, and the loss of the author’s authority ― have led to a long-lasting crisis in the post-Soviet literatures, but in the wider context, it was a crisis of relations with society and public opinion. The continuation of this crisis is stimulated by the use of technologies aimed at producing the post-truth. In the contemporary world, dominated by mass media and popular culture, fiction is not fully responsible for the crisis of society. The author of the paper considers examples that confirm the relevance of literature to ideological conflicts and propaganda rhetoric. The novelties of Ukrainian, Russian, and Belarusian literatures provide good material for the study of the post-truth in its Eastern European modifications. Nowadays fiction is seeking its place once again; its potential means of influencing the human consciousness in the post-truth world are being renewed. This process should be seen dialectically, with its probable positive and negative consequences. The post-truth world gives literature a chance to leave the shadows of media and restore its authority in the cultural sphere. At the same time, the confluence of literary fiction with post-truth poses a considerable danger, since it may be applied in modern manipulative technologies. The establishment of social and psychological communication, which became one of the priority tasks of modern literature, should not be implemented at the cost of human degradation.

The Covid-19 pandemic phenomenon has caused global panic to all aspects of people's lives. The Government of Aceh implements various policies, including social distancing, quarantine, and holding cells to break the chain of virus spreading. An interesting thing to study from the perspective of cultural communication is the traditional, cultural, and religious traditions in Aceh so that Aceh has its uniqueness in facing the threat of Covid -19. Acehnese people have unique rituals from generation to generation to fight the plague that is happening. After a patient died of Covid-19 on 23 March 2020, the Acehnese held a remembrance and prayer rejecting the plague by gathering in places of worship or open fields until a torch parade surrounded the boundaries of each village guided by leaders and leaders religion, by applying the protocol established by the government. This case shows a balance between effort and prayer. At first glance, there is a contradiction between the social distancing recommendations and the ritual of rejecting the plague. It also has the support of various parties from several local authority holders. According to the report of the Aceh Covid Cluster and Covid Indonesia Task Force, 2 June 2020, 14 city districts in Aceh entered the green zone.

This paper aims to describe how humans communicate with each other is always influenced or in a complex cultural context. Humans learn to think, feel, believe, and work on what is culturally appropriate. Language, friendship, eating habits, communication practices, social actions, economic and political activities, and technology are based on cultural patterns. This paper is the result of library research, where the author conducts academic studies of various relevant reading material. The conclusion in this paper is What people do, how they act, how they live and communicate, are responses to and functions of their culture.

The aim of this paper is to investigate how an increasing fraction of the Danish libraries over the last years has experimented with lending of non-traditional materials. The main purpose is to examine how library staff can develop non-traditional lending initiatives that support a user-to-user exchange of experiences. The paper’s main contribution is the presentation of a model, “Erfaringsudlånsmodellen” (“The model of Experience Lending”), which describes how the cultural communication strategy of co-creation can be combined with the lending of non-traditional materials, which will result in an extension of the library collection that in the future can contain not only the materials, but the patrons’ experiences with the materials as well. A number of Danish and foreign examples of the lending of non-traditional materials are reviewed. Afterwards, two specific Danish alternative lending initiatives are investigated further. These are Valby’s Library’s “FrøLab” (“SeedLab”) and Risskov Library’s “Man Bliver Glad af Surdej!” (“Sourdough makes you happy!”) The lending design of these initiatives is discussed, and it is stated that the initiatives combine knowledge sharing tools with co-creation to facilitate an exchange of experience between users. This lending design is formalized in the model of Experience Lending, which is presented and discussed.

The main problem of contemporary science of culture is the study of such concepts as cultural communication, acculturation, inculturation, multiculturalism. It is under the influence of the social environment that these concepts go through the process of socialization among individuals to cultural life in a civilized society. The purpose of the research is to provide scientific and theoretical substantiation of the peculiarities of the cultural communication development within society and its social changes through the analysis and comparison of various approaches to studying their cultural interaction. The research methodology consists in the analytical analysis of the cultural communication study on the emergence of social tensions in society. The analysis provides an opportunity to show and analyze the evolution of cultural communication, to follow the essence of cultural concepts and the dynamics of their development. The scientific novelty of the results obtained is that the article analytically analyses the nature of the types of notions of cultural communication and multiculturalism from the side of social tensions in the cultural sphere and pays attention to the study of two directions of the problems of culture – social and culturological. It can be seen that all cultural models or cultural codes are enriched and modernized and penetrate the social processes of society. Today, we can see that human culture constantly borrows various patterns and cultural stamps, and globalization imposes these standards on society, leading to contradictions and tensions among the population in cultural exchange or interaction, which also occurs in world civilizations. What they experienced socially cultural changes that we get as a globalized inheritance. Conclusion: culture is a driving force for the stabilization of political, social, cultural and cultural processes in society and plays an important social role. Cultural globali zation becomes a complex of all interconnected processes, optimization of cultural communication and examples of national culture.

Structurally and culturally, the identity and role of Banten Jawara are still very powerful and still exist in the circle of Banten bureaucratic power, giving rise to the public's negative views and image of the champion's identity. The purpose of this paper was to analyze the idea of cultural transformation and revitalization of the values of the local wisdom of Banten Jawara and the deconstruction of the identity of the champion as a Banten subculture. The study method used a qualitative descriptive approach. The data in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from observations in the field and interviews through direct interaction with key informants determined by purposive sampling technique. Secondary data were obtained through various searches of data relevant to the study from various literature such as journals, books, print and electronic media to support data analysis and described in the form of data narration. The stages of data analysis consisted of: sorting data, presenting data and conclusions. The results showed that the process of transformation and revitalization of Banten Jawara by repositioning the structur of champion institutions as cultural products and representations of cultural communication, while in the deconstruction process, it was rebuild the identity of Banten Jawara, so that society has the same view through peaceful tolerance and coexistence; the creation of social cohesion through the acceptance of local and national cultural identities with various individual, sectarian and communal differences; and has the willingness to resolve non-violent disputes; have community institutions that bind communities across groups; and place past violations as inheritance and serve as learning for current and future generations. The transformation and revitalization of Banten Jawara as the power of the social and cultural sub-culture of Banten is a continuous and continuous idea and perspective.

Jancuk is a swear word and has become part of the cultural communication of arek in East Java, Indonesia. This research tries to analyze the perception and meaning of jancuk from Indonesian society. This research is a descriptive research through a qualitative approach. 121 representative respondents were obtained through purposive sampling. Then, the data will be triangulated to draw conclusions and recommendations. The results showed that the period of education and growth became the jancuk word’s absorption phase. The results of the analysis explain that Jancuk is not perceived negatively. Its depends on the intensity of emotion in communication. However, Jancuk is still perceived as a word that violates politeness in the communication process. Then, the main meaning of jancuk consists of: humiliation, annoyance, disappointment, surprise, and a symbol of intimacy or humor. Based on this research, the perception of words in a particular culture can be seen as an expression that has various meanings. It is expected that this research will provide the reason for the public that jancuk can be an important contributor to the process of enriching social cross-cultural communication materials.

The production and dissemination of literary works have a huge influence and promotion on the inheritance and development of human civilization. The dissemination of literary works is inseparable from the dissemination carrier. New media provides a more novel and convenient way for the dissemination of literary works. The dissemination of literary works based on new media, especially mobile clients, has not only increased the speed of dissemination, but also expanded the dissemination population, allowing people to access reading samples more quickly and effectively. The purpose of this article is to study the dissemination of new computer media and the folk culture of Shaanxi literary works under the background of big data. This article first summarizes the basic theory of big data, and then extends the core technology of big data. Combined with the current status of the spread of Shaanxi literary works and folk culture, the problems and deficiencies in it are analyzed. And combined with the new computer media under the background of big data to conduct research and analysis on the spread of Shaanxi literary works and folk culture. This article systematically expounds the mechanism of new media influencing cultural communication and the inevitability of leading cultural communication. This article uses research methods such as questionnaire surveys, field surveys, observations and experimental research on the communication of new computer media and the folk culture of Shaanxi literary works under the background of big data. The research shows that compared with the traditional ways of dissemination of Shaanxi literary works and folk culture, the dissemination of new computer media and Shaanxi literary works and folk culture under the background of big data is more convenient and diverse.

Cultural communication has obliquely shapes society relationships with another for the sake of togetherness prosperity. Diversity of norms and values from cultural symbols are able to be transferred as connecting elements in order to create interaction that is based on mutual comprehension of cultural norms. This study objective is to comprehend Bawean ethnic's cultural communication symbol. Employing qualitative methods, social construction paradigm is perceived through in-depth interview. This methodology adapted to realize the meaning of cultural communication between Bawaean and the other Malay sub-ethnicity. There are one main informant and ten other informant whom have been interviewed face-to-face. The result has shown that Bawean ethnic's cultural communication symbol such as language, cuisine, martial arts and religious rituals are the main elements in Bawean ethnic's cultural communication. In conclusion, cultural communication between Bawean ethnic and other ethnic has taken place according to the situations as either inside or outside the group. Cultural similarities has facilitate cultural communication tranquility. It creates social integration with relation to the ethnic relationship processes such as acculturation, accommodation and integration.

The need to review goals, objectives and teach- ing methods in the process of teaching foreign lan- guages in Ukraine in connection with the rapid entry of Ukraine into the world community, which, in its turn, leads to changes in both general meth- odology and specific methods, and techniques in the theory and practice of teaching foreign lan- guages is discussed in the paper. It is noted that the main purpose of learning a foreign language is the formation of a linguistic personality who is ready for real, productive com- munication with representatives of other cultures at different levels and in different spheres of life. At the forefront is the need for verbal support for inter- cultural communication. Emphasis is placed on the fact that an integra- tive approach to foreign language teaching is espe- cially important in the context of intercultural dia- logue, which assumes that the interaction of differ- ent worldviews presented by communicators in- cludes their logics, thinking, values and is not blocked but stimulated by mutual understanding, tolerance, positive attitude. It is emphasized that relations are intercultural if their participants do not resort to their own tradi- tions, customs, ideas and ways of behavior, but get acquainted with other people’s rules and norms of everyday communication. Intercultural communica- tion requires that the sender and recipient of the message belong to different cultures. It also re- quires participants in communication to be aware of each other’s cultural differences. In essence, inter- cultural communication is always interpersonal communication in a special context, when one par- ticipant discovers the cultural difference of another. It is also said that successful intercultural com- munication involves, in addition to foreign language proficiency, the ability to adequately interpret the communicative behavior of a representative of a foreign society, as well as the willingness of partic- ipants to perceive other forms of communicative behavior, understanding its differences and varia- tion from culture to culture. The strategy of conver- gence of non-cultural knowledge is aimed at pre- venting not only semantic but also cultural failures in communication.

In Poland, a discourse on the relationship between the canon and pop culture has been going on for almost thirty years. It is dominated by the belief that these methods of cultural communication are completely divergent. The canon is understood as a bastion of tradition and values and as such is in contradiction with popular culture. This conflict has educational consequences. Creates a resonance in the relationships and teachers, who more and more often show greater knowledge of pop culture phenomena than the so-called cultural canon. The impasse that the school is currently ex-periencing requires a reaction, and this seems to be possible by drawing attention to the subject of education and turning to the “here and now”. In order to explain the possibility of breaking the “cold war” situation between the canon and pop culture, the article cites the transitive principle as a method of building a dialogue between both sides of the dispute.

The problems of this study: 1) what are the similarities and differences in the characteristics of the practice of Nempung message communication in the three cases of Manggarai Customary Marriage communication in Kupang? 2) What symbols were found during the implementation of Nempung in these three traditional marriage communication events? 3) What is the meaning of the Nempung symbols in the three Manggarai traditional marriage communication events in Kupang city? 4) What is the importance Nempung message for the wedding couple of the next generation of Manggarai today? Discussion of the results of the study, first, the three cases of Nempung have unique characteristics due to different conditions underlying them. But, the three also showed a fundamental similarity. In the Nempung event, a symbolic communication interaction process took place between two different families. The communication process of Nempung provides important messages for new families and for the bond of relations between the two extended families (male and female families). Second, important communication symbols in Nempung include: 1) Human symbols as prototypes; 2) Pet symbols; 3) Symbols of material and life necessities such as machetes (kope), traditional cloth Manggrai (towe songke), dulang, sack rice, each of which has its own meaning in the life of a new family in the future. Third, the symbols of Nempung communication mean deeply to the lives of Manggarai people in general and newlyweds in developing new family visions and missions, especially in daily life. Fourth, implementing Nempung according to Manggarai custom is very important for the traditional legitimacy of the marriage of two people who want to live as husband and wife. Without Nempung, marriages have not received the legitimacy of the Manggarai custom. The influence of the times, Nempung tends to be ignored by some Manggarai marriages. Even the marriage of two people is bypassed by shortcuts, elopement, gathering kebo, without customary affairs. Suggestions are given: 1) For the Manggarai bride and groom, the results of this study are useful as information material to live up to the importance of adat legitimacy for their marriage as a legal entity. 2) For Manggarai parents, the results of this study serve as inspiration for strengthening their belief in the importance of traditional legitimacy to their marriages and future generations. 3) For the Manggarai community, the results of this study become informational material to understand the nature of marriage from the perspective of traditional Manggarai and inspiration material to continue to believe that Nempung is a moment of traditional legitimacy that must be maintained for traditionally legimated marriages. 4) For the following researchers, the results of this study provide a foundation for further research on the relevance of the current Nempung communication event.

To show the traditional Chinese painting and the spiritual culture of universities, highlight the artistic accumulation and cultural heritage, analyze the value and significance of digitalizing the Museum of Ancient High-Imitative Calligraphy and Painting, Qingdao Agricultural University (QAU) is regarded as the research object. The design principles of the digital museum are clarified by understanding the specific user needs, and the 3DS Max is utilized to develop a roaming system for the Museum of Ancient High-Imitative Calligraphy and Painting of QAU through Unity3d, a Virtual Reality (VR) software platform. Besides, the perspective control, collision detection of virtual characters and scenes, and control of pop-up information display windows are realized to achieve the interactive design of users and the QAU digital museum system. Finally, from the four aspects of resource content, information presentation, resource presentation, and learning effect, a comprehensive evaluation is conducted. The research results show that more than 80% of people think that the content satisfaction of virtual system resources is high, which is more scientific and accurate; more than 65% think that the information is presented better, and 87% think that the system is open enough; in addition, nearly one-third of the visitors believe that using the system can initiate their interest and motivation in learning. This shows that the learning and cultural communication effects of the virtual system are more obvious. This system realizes the objective of disseminating traditional classic art culture and values by new technical means, which has reference significance for research in other fields.

China is a country famous for different kinds of delicious food. Chinese people attach great importance to the naming of dishes. With the globalization of the world economy in recent years, the translation of dish names has received more and more attention from domestic scholars and related academic institutions. This kind of cross-language and cultural communication activities involves not only the conversion between language symbols, but also the integration of cultures. Chinese metaphor-loaded dish names are an important feature of Chinese recipe names, which are derived from the concept of food culture of the Chinese nation. Only by grasping the connection between Chinese metaphor-loaded dish names and Chinese traditional culture, can we truly grasp the colorful language phenomena presented in metaphor-loaded dish names. Aiming at solving the translation problems of metaphor-loaded dish names, this paper proposes techniques that can be used in translation, in order to provide reference in food translation and boost the spread of Chinese food culture.

The relevance of the studying the functional versatility of the higher education system and its unique mission in the present world are substantiated. The aim of the article is to consider the strategies of “soft diplomacy” in the present national cultural and art education and to reveal the uniqueness of the University of culture and arts, its special role in the present social and cultural sphere. Analysing their activities, one should resort to the concept of “soft power”, which was introduced into the scientific circulation by Joseph Nye (2004) and considering the prospects of international coexistence as a cultural dialogue and a dialogue of cultures. Nowadays, the cultural communication and mutual understanding is a condition for cooperation not only within the framework of nations, but also at the international level. The issues of cultural diplomacy attract the attention of philosophers, sociologists, cultural specialists, art historians, historians, linguists, and specialists in international affairs. They consider this phenomenon in global, local and national aspects, including it in the models of social, creative individual interaction and dialogue. The “strength of the strong” and the “weakness of the weak” are minimised with the recognition of the cultural uniqueness of each player in the global playing field. The value of culture as a creative process and a local-cultural sphere is becoming an important argument of subjectivity in international relations. Therefore, not only politicians, diplomats or cultural attaches are attracted to setting relations between countries, but also culture and art managers who make a strong public demand for cultural civil initiatives. The scientific novelty consists in revealing the features of the project activities of the KNUCA’s specialists, aimed at making the new strategies of higher education in Ukraine. In particular, in 2018, its leading information policy specialists developed the project “Digital competence framework for Ukrainian teachers and other citizens” represented at the contest of the Erasmus + EU program. The victory of the KNUCA in this contest proves the high intellectual potential of its team and the need for international cooperation as a dialogue and exchange of experience. This experience has been acquired for many years, overcoming the resistance of the old system and perceiving new social-cultural, political and economic challenges. The main task of the University, based on the classical principles of the European tradition of “free arts” is to adhere to “soft” diplomacy, producing and testing new training strategies and brands, applying cultural and art potential as “soft power” to making great things in crating positive image of our country.

This article deals with the social construction of the peasant world by representatives of the clergy. The Church played the most significant role in the mental modernization of the peasant estate in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The Synodal Church sought to replace the archaic peasant worldview with a new imperial and synodal mythology. The task of Church politics and pastoral theology was the creation of semantic concepts, with the help of which a new classification of the amorphous, inert, archaic «mass of the people» should be carried out on the basis of clearly articulated, ideological parameters. The purpose of this article is to show with what ideas about the peasant flock the Russian Orthodox clergy came to the most important line of the historical existence of the Church − 1917.The flock was unified in the sphere of social imagination. In the church consciousness, several generalized (and therefore reduced to stereotypes) images of the Christian flock formed. Each of them was the product of a more or less conscious influence of the prevailing secular ideologies. The church carried out its own classification of the peasant world, trying to unify it in accordance with several socio-utopian categories. The first category related to the discourse of the Enlightenment is «dirty superstitions». The second category is «God-bearers» («bogonostsy» – rus.) born of Slavophilism. The third category is «Protestants», brought to life by the influence of Eurocentrism. Finally, the fourth category contained «crazy paranoid people». They did not find a place in other classification groups. The construction of cultural communication with the peasant flock within the framework of these categories was in the hands of the Church an instrument of semiotic modernization of the amorphous and unstructured peasant flock. The practical significance of the studied representations is that their study will help to better understand the Soviet anthropological project of the twentieth century. The Author argues that the topic of mental representations needs further research.

Th e cultural shock will be increasingly visible if the newcomer has a cultural origin that is far different from the new culture he is attending . This study aims to see how the phenomenon of culture shock that occurs in French citizens who work in Jakarta. The concept used as a knife of analysis in this study is the concept of Cultural Communication and Cultural Concentration , which includes stages, phases, and forms of Cultural Concussion. The method of this research is using descriptive qualitative with the main data collection obtained from the results of interviews with three French citizens who work in Jakarta. The results showed that the three French citizens experienced a cultural shock in the form of language, food, weather, attitude, order. The cultural shock reactions experienced by them are feeling confused, stressed, homesick, physically ill, and always compare everything with their home country. The stages of cultural shock experienced by French citizens, namely the phase of excitement, the phase of disappointment, the initial phase of resolution and the phase function effectively.

Intangible cultural heritage is confronted with the communication dilemma of a narrow audience and a lack of inheritor. With the development of digital technologies, the use of digital communication methods to reduce the communication gap has become a vital approach. Therefore, the process of changing the current conventional communication of intangible cultural heritage and improving the presentation of traditional treasures to the public, combined with digital communication technologies, has become the focus of the academic field. Based on the technology acceptance model and the attention-interest-desire-memory-action audience response model, this paper defines three layers of key factors that influence the digital communication effects of intangible cultural heritage and their respective weights. In-depth interviews with 50 experienced experts from six major areas related to this research are conducted with the assistance of the Delphi method. A theoretical evaluation model of the digital communication effects of intangible cultural heritage is constructed using the analytic hierarchy process. Through its findings, this research expects to provide academic references and operative guidelines for the practical application of digital communication technologies in cultural communication and to aid in the communication and safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage.

The concept of «third place», formulated by R. Oldenburg, can be used as one of the tools for a library transformation. «The third place» is a multifunctional public space, that provides opportunities for intellectual and cultural communication, creativity, self-development and self-expression, a place where one wants to be and wants to return («the first place» according to this concept is home, «the second place» – work or study). The purpose of this article is to consider the concept of «the third place» in the context of its realization in the library and information sphere in Tumen (Russia). Various relevant documents regulating the work of libraries (first of all – public libraries) contain positions confirming the interrelation of library and information activity with the concept of «the third place». Many characteristics of «the third places» («humanitarian», technical and technological, etc.) determine the direction of work of libraries at the modern stage. For the study several similar characteristics were chosen: accessibility, locality; openness to all social categories; the possibility for leisure, entertainment; comfort, ease of interaction. The method of survey with elements of the semantic differential was used. The respondents were the users of the Information and library center for youth (Tyumen, Russia). The research was to identify the degree of severity of these characteristics in library.The results of survey analysis allow the confirmation that the activity of the Information and library center for youth corresponds to the characteristics of «the third place». Librarians work on their integration and development constantly. Also they preserve the major, document-information, content of activity of libraries.The concept of «the third place» is not the only option for the development of each library, but it provides the possibility of using a certain set of conceptual characteristics as a working tool for library and information activity.

The use of world-simulation videogames for cultural heritage (CH) communication presents one of the greatest opportunities for engaging people with the safeguarding of cultural resources. However, not all simulation videogames have the capacity to transmit heritage values efficiently. This article reviews the use of serious and commercial videogames in CH to frame and properly identify characteristics for the selection and assessment of videogames in the context of cultural communication. Based on the analysis of the capacities of videogames to motivate, immerse and represent reality, the videogame Minecraft is identified as one of the optimal solutions to represent and promote engagement with the cultural built environment. As such, the authors assessed the capacity of the videogame Minecraft to be used as an efficient tool to communicate built heritage environments, considering identified criteria on immersion, motivation, and fidelity on simulation.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore a range of questions and problems pertaining to a sound-based project that the author began half-way through 2011. Called Daddy Diary, this archive-in-progress takes the form of a series of free-association audio monologues, produced by a first-time father, that are addressed to his adult-daughter of the future and that reflect upon their evolving familial relationship.Design/methodology/approachAs is often the case with creative projects that are embedded in a plurality of ideological, material and temporal conditions, Daddy Diary requires an eclectic and para-humanities approach to its theorisation. By drawing from ethical, sociological, historical and pedagogical assemblages, this paper shows how Daddy Diary activates a non-hegemonic truth space wherein familial knowledge (tacit knowledge captured in the raw material of the voice recordings) participates in the sustainable and counter-institutional negotiation of self-concept.FindingsSound recording technologies have made accessible new ways of documenting human life-narratives, thus augmenting how notions of the self can be written, reviewed and shared with a creative learning community. Just as photography has been used in creative practice reinforce parental worth, playing into the experience of holding and letting go, so too does an audio diary provide the apparatus through which a parent may reflexively navigate death anxiety and the possibility of loss. Thus, this paper contains insight that may prove useful for other first-time fathers. It’s insight may also be of benefit to practice-led researchers wishing to understand how to translate non-institutional activity into a creative learning experience.Originality/valueJust as the foregrounding of sound poses a challenge to the so-called dominance of visual cultural communication, so too can “listening” engage an alternative sensory perspective from which we “see” ourselves.

Translating Khalil I. Al-Fuzai’s “A Lot of Hands” aims at what Bhabha calls “cultural communication” (228). In this way, translation reconstructs and introduces the self to other people and nations. In this sense, translation contributes to the concept of identity. Khalil I. Al-Fuzai (1940-today) is a writer from Saudi Arabia who wrote a few collections of stories. In his stories he tries to present his Arabian community in a direct, simple way (Dohal 2013). One of his stories is “A Lot of Hands.” Methodology is a document translation of a story for it is a good sample of what Al-Fuzai has written (Dohal, 2018 & 2019). In addition, it addresses a side of the Arabian culture; this story depicts the abuse and oppression that some children face from their close relatives. Indeed it is about a universal concern. With the continuous development of socialism with Chinese characteristics, education has entered a new era. Under the background of the new era, the traditional service mode of "Book oriented" library is gradually replaced by the service mode of information automation and network, and the university library is also developing rapidly from the traditional paper collection to the construction of digital resources. Library plays a very important role in teaching, scientific research, quality education and cultural communication in Colleges and universities. It is the basic symbol of the development level of colleges and universities. Therefore, the service ability of university librarians is becoming more and more important in the new era. In order to better promote the service ability of University Library in the new era, this paper first discusses the characteristics and service mode of University Library in the new era, and then puts forward some strategies to improve the service ability of librarians from four aspects: constructing information service system, improving service consciousness, enriching service content, and optimizing management connotation.

As an important part of Shanghai's intangible cultural heritage, Chongming Biandan Opera has high inheritance value. With the emergence of interesting and interactive cultural communication methods, the dissemination of intangible cultural heritage among the youth groups dominated by college students has been hindered, which causes a gap during the process of inheriting of this culture. In the context of digitization, the emergence of new communication carriers based on WeChat mini programs has altered the previous transmission methods of oral and personal teaching, and broadened the scope and channels of intangible cultural heritage transmission.

Oral traditions in preliterate Africa served not only as sociological tools for enculturation but also as a people’s artistic expressions and memoirs. Folktales, from experiences and fused with creative energies, were a people’s record of the collective ideology, while riddles, proverbs, and other short forms reflected both linguistic and cultural aesthetics. The oral rendition of folklore was not simply the only choice in preliterate Africa, but was a powerful community building tool in the traditional setup. Further, performances highlighted performance aspects which resulted in “new” texts with each performance that would reflect growth or variation in thought, changes in social structures and other emergent realities. Today, orality is increasingly mediated by secondary media in the transmission of traditional forms of oral art which carry cultural communication. Apart from orthography, audio and audiovisual platforms have become spaces for transmission of oral performances which try to maintain “authentic” forms of these on the screen. This chapter examines the performativity of African oral folklore within the strictures of television. Emerging oral performance theories, mainly Technauriture, will be employed to interrogate the influences of film as a static space and one that is removed from its immediate audience, on the performance of oral folklore as well as the interplay between demands of oral performance and film performance. Interest will be on the narrative, production, and archival aspects of film on a dynamic oral art and the resultant mutations of traditional African folklore on the screen.

In the context of the rapid development of wireless communication and information technology, the network has greatly shortened the actual spatial distances around the world. Multimedia technology and wireless communication, as an important branch of information technology, can better connect people and the network, exploding very powerful energy in the field of education. This research analyzes the cultural communication function of wireless communication and multimedia network technology in university teaching, especially English teaching. At this stage, almost all universities in our country are using multimedia technology to assist teaching, and even many teachers believe that multimedia has become a necessary foundation for the in-depth development of the “teaching-learning” interaction in colleges and universities in the information age. The demand for English talents in the Chinese labor market is dominated by application-oriented talents, but the purpose of English teaching in many schools is still in the reality of traditional research-based teaching. It is concluded that the root of this contradiction lies in the disconnection between the cultivation of talents in universities and the needs of society. The experimental results show that if the advantages of wireless communication and multimedia network technology can be fully utilized, the teaching efficiency of cultural communication in college English teaching can be increased by 22%. This article also analyzes, discusses, and summarizes the methods and approaches of cultural dissemination to enrich academic research results.

Modern mankind has joined the general historical process called computerization. In contrast to the industrial society, in which the main thing was the production of material goods, in today’s post-industrial society the production of information becomes the main activity (by information we mean knowledge as information about people, objects, facts, events), phenomena and processes, regardless of their form representation that can be recorded on a tangible medium), and this process is called computerization (hence the term - information society). Such a shift in emphasis is caused, on the one hand, by the fact that humanity is aware of the limited natural (natural) resources of its habitat, and on the other hand, by the emergence of global problems (for example, energy, the environment), a solution that is impossible with previous methods. Information is becoming the main resource for the development of the world community and significantly affects the development of other industries and spheres of life: science, technology, social spheres (cultural communication between people, education). The core values of the information society are:- knowledge; -qualification; - independent thinking; -the ability to work with information and make informed decisions based on it; - awareness not only in a narrow professional field, but also in related fields.

Chinese classical garden is one of the three major garden systems in the world. It is recognized as the mother of the world garden. It carries the profound Chinese traditional spiritual and cultural heritage, and has important protection, inheritance and dissemination value. In recent years, the rapid development of digital technology has promoted the reform of all walks of life, and also provided new ideas and carriers for the protection and dissemination of cultural heritage. Through research, the current application of digital technology in classical gardens is mainly reflected in three aspects: construction and protection, scenic area management and three-dimensional display. However, the application of digital technology in the cultural communication of classical gardens has not yet been realized, and the communication effect of digital media has not been fully demonstrated. Therefore, how to give full play to the advantages of digital technology, build a systematic communication system of classical garden culture, and expand the influence of classical garden culture is of great significance. In order to further clarify the ideas of digital dissemination of Chinese classical gardens, this paper discusses the problems, basic principles and objectives of digital dissemination of Chinese classical gardens from multiple perspectives. In addition, on the basis of Laswell’s “5W” communication theory, this paper puts forward the “TC5W” communication mode based on digital technology, and puts forward the basic mode and system architecture of Chinese classical garden digital dissemination, so as to provide some ideas and reference for the current digital dissemination of classical garden cultural heritage.

This paper conducts a questionnaire survey on the cultural cognition of 70 teachers and parents in 3 primary schools from the dimensions of the definition of campus culture, the degree of importance, and the degree of cultural communication. Based on the in-depth analysis of the status quo and the environmental design theory, 3 campus cultural environment communication design strategies are proposed: 1. Materialize the elements of campus culture into the actual design to effectively spread the campus culture; 2. Establish a public display area to the campus in order to effectively publicize campus culture; 3. Pay attention to the cultural design of parent waiting areas in order to effectively deepen campus culture.

The aim of the article is to investigate the architectural form self-representation processes in the spatial experience of culture. Theoretical and methodological prism of the research is the semiotic concept of architecture of W. Eco and the concept of E. Panofsky correlating with it and explaining the nature of the Gothic architectural form evolution. The architectural reality self-definition problem in the context of the historical development of cultural and anthropological experience spatial codes is considered. On the basis of W. Eco’s semiotic concept of architecture we propose the vision of architectural object as a form in which the signifier - the “grammar” of architectural text - is treated as a signifier in the unity of meanings, functions and structures of the work. Architectural form in this capacity is described as a subject of socio-cultural communication, an individual link in the spatial code mediation chain of this or that tradition. On the basis of the comparative analysis, we have demonstrated the similarity of semiotic approach to the essence of architecture and Gothic architectural thinking of E. Panofsky. It shows the relevance of this methodology for modern architecture theory allowing to reveal the processes of architectural reality affirmation. The significance of the results for the theory of architecture consists in the fact that the heuristic significance of Eco’s semiotic conception of architecture was substantiated by E. Panofsky’s conclusions concerning the essence of Gothic form-building. The notion of architectural form as a subject of cultural communication greatly extends the architectural reality affirmative nature notion.

The field of investigation of this study is cross-sectional to Architecture and Fashion. Always a source of mutual inspiration, today Architecture and Fashion draw the “new forms of living” (Avella 2018) designing spatial configurations animated by the bodies that “inhabit” it (in architecture) or that “wear” it (in fashion). In this study the Architecture is the sacred one of the Paleocristian and early medieval Basilical Complex of Cimitile in the province of Naples and near to Nola, whose historical-cultural value returns to that of Roman Pompeii. The site of Cimitile, despite being an excellent testimony of sacred architecture in Europe, does not enjoy the same notoriety of the Pompeian archaeological site. The aim of this research is to promote and enhance the sacred architectural space of Cimitile through Fashion, the cultural and social phenomenon that nowadays more than others is able to reinterpret in a contemporary key the historical testimonies so to make them endure in actuality. The decorative motifs of the basilical architectures in the Cimitile’s site are the signs of the past that become the ideational traces of the fashion design through the drawing of new textures that propose a contemporary narrative about the archeological site of Cimitile able to contribute to building a conscious memory of it.
