Purpose The purpose of this paper is to verify the possibility of ultrasonic intensification of drug dissolution of cholesterol calculi of the gallbladder using conventional ultrasound frequency and intensity from 0.1 to 0.5 W/cm2. Design/methodology/approach For research purposes, the physical model was developed containing pig bile, pig liver, pigskin, fat and muscles, as well as human cholesterol calculus removed by surgery and a drug with ursodeoxycholic acid. Findings The studies have shown the possibility of accelerating the drug dissolution of calculi of the gallbladder with ultrasound exposure. The ultrasound intensity of 0.4 W/cm2 is the most preferable to intensify the dissolution of calculus. Originality/value The results will be used to advance with development of the device and methodology for ultrasonic intensification of drug dissolution of gallbladder calculi.

Currently, there is a widespread occurrence of breast cancer. Long-term radical mastectomy can lead to the development of lymphedema. Finding intraoperatively unaffected lymph nodes, and therefore their preservation, could prevent the development of lymphedema. The authors describe the hardware of the device of extended photodynamic visualization for differentiation of the lymphatic pathways of closely located organs. This devices allows to work with two dyes (methylene blue and indocyanine green) at once. The article also presents studies proving the efficiency of the methodology.

The article is to present a prototype of a device intended for automatic control of the cardiopulmonary resuscitation outside the hospital. For the assessment of a patient’s condition the device uses the vital parameters: respiratory noises and vibrations of the walls of the carotid arteries. The device is made in the form of a «surgical collar» and does not requires extra actions to fix the sensors to a patient’s body. Resuscitation is performed with sound and light signals of different types for cardiac compressions and artificial respiration.

The article describes a mobile hardware and software system designed for daily monitoring of the state of fetal and maternal cardiovascular systems. The assessment is carried out by means of recording and further online analysis of acoustic data, obtained from the abdominal surface of a pregnant woman’s body. The components and operating principles of the hardware and software system designed are described. The results of experimental studies aimed at assessing the applicability of a method of acoustic data analysis implemented in the system developed are shown. The results obtained have been compared with the results obtained using cardiotocography.
