In France, both students from medicine and pharmacy background can have access to the residency in laboratory medicine (LM). The current curriculum of LM residency includes an early choice of option after the first two years of residency, which subsequently guides the rest of the training. This study aimed to analyze these choice and motivational factors, since its implementation in 2017. A national survey was conducted among LM residents and former residents who underwent the early option choice process. A questionnaire was developed and sent to residents via Google Forms. Several groups of items corresponding to potential motivational factors were included and rated on a 5-point Likert scale. A psychometric analysis allowed to identify the main motivational factors. A total of 178 responses from 24 residency regions were recorded. The median age was 28 years, with a slight female predominance (52%), and three-quarters of the participants had a pharmacy training background. The "hematology and immunology" option was the most chosen (35%). The psychometric analysis enabled to identify 7 motivational factors, and the most important is the training during the residency, which weights approximately 21 % in the choice. Several associations have been observed between the motivational factors and the background training, origin, the chosen option and the planned career. Several factors influence the choice of early option among LM residents, and some of these factors are associated with the background training, origin, chosen option and planned career.

Background: This report is based on a 2023 nationwide survey and literature review of physician associates/assistants (PAs) in India. The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act, 2021, which is being implemented in India, included guidelines for PA licensing, creating a unified national curriculum, and preventing malpractice., Methods: Using a purposive sampling strategy, we surveyed 536 PAs in India between February 10 and April 30, 2023. The survey collected data on demographics, academic qualifications, specialties, salaries, job satisfaction, and future outlooks through an online questionnaire., Results: The survey showed that most PAs are below age 30 years, and most graduated PAs were involved in clinical practice in 2023. PAs work in almost all clinical specialties; most practice in private hospitals. States in southern India continued to dominate educating and employing PAs, with a nationwide representation of more than 14 states. More than 80% of practicing PAs are satisfied with their profession; however, the majority are unsatisfied with their wages., Conclusions: This first formal survey on India's PAs illustrates the challenges of PA professional practice and standardization of education and licensure in the Indian healthcare system., (Copyright © 2024 American Academy of Physician Associates.)

Objective: The objective of this study was to understand applicant perspectives on in-person and virtual otolaryngology residency interviews., Study Design: Survey study., Setting: Otolaryngology residency applicants who were interviewed during 2022-2023., Methods: Survey sent to all otolaryngology residency applicants who interviewed during the 2022-2023 interview season., Results: A total of 499 applicants were surveyed with 150 responses (30%). Approximately 48.3% of respondents were offered an in-person interview with 78.9% accepting the offer. Of those who did not accept, reasons included not wanting to travel (21.1%) and time conflicts (15.5%). When comparing virtual versus in-person interviews, those who attended virtual interviews were more likely to disagree that they connected with residents (P = .02) and that they had an improved perspective of the program (P = .002). The majority of applicants agreed that virtual interviews are more inclusive and equitable than in-person interviews (70.4%). When asked which interview style applicants would prefer, 63.1% of applicants preferred an in-person interview when compared to virtual with a second look option (29.5%) and virtual (7.4%). Respondents who self-identified as being underrepresented in medicine were less likely to choose in-person as their preferred interview format (P = .01) and were more likely to decline an in-person interview offer due to monetary limitations (P = .04)., Conclusions: Applicants indicated dissatisfaction with connecting with residents and improving their perspective of the program when in a virtual setting. Background: Somatisation is a highly prevalent psychiatric syndrome in both women and men, in which psychological distress is manifested in physical symptoms without a medical explanation. Many patients with somatisation disorder are high healthcare utilisers, particularly at emergency departments. Unnecessary investigations and diagnostic operations occur frequently, which cause both patient suffering and a significant burden on the healthcare system. Emergency department physicians' awareness of somatisation and its manifestations has not previously been studied. This study aimed to investigate awareness about somatisation disorder among physicians working at emergency departments in western Sweden, and to explore differences between gender, specialty, and work experience., Methods: A web-based, cross-sectional survey consisting of six dichotomous questions about somatisation disorder was conducted, in December 2021 - January 2022, among licensed physicians of various specialties working at emergency departments in western Sweden. Descriptive analyses and comparative analyses were performed to investigate differences between gender, type of specialty, and years of practice. Data were analysed using chi 2 tests and Fisher's exact test., Results: Of the 526 eligible physicians who received the survey, 241 responded; response rate 45.8%. The majority of the respondents (56.4%) were women, and most (35.3%) were specialised in obstetrics/gynaecology. Average years of work experience was 11.1 (SD 8.7) years. Although 71% of respondents were aware of the diagnosis, only 7% knew the diagnostic criteria and only 6% had ever diagnosed a patient with somatisation disorder. Female physicians were more aware of underlying factors than their male colleagues (55.7% vs. 38.2%; p = .010). Type of specialty or years of practice did not affect awareness., Conclusions: Awareness of somatisation disorder is low among physicians working at emergency departments in western Sweden. The findings suggest a need to increase awareness and knowledge and provide training in diagnosing the condition, to ensure correct decisions and optimal patient management. Introduction: For academic promotion, clinical faculty are expected to excel in clinical care, teaching, and scholarship. Ensuring adequate protected time and resources to engage in scholarly work in the face of competing clinical responsibilities is critical. The authors examined academic leaders' perspectives across affiliate hospitals of a large medical school regarding the definition of clinical full-time effort and academic time, best practices to enable academic success, and barriers to faculty advancement., Methods: Open-ended, semistructured, individual interviews were conducted with a purposive sample of clinical department and division heads. Interview data were examined to illuminate the range and commonalities in practices and to identify successful approaches., Results: Interviews were conducted with 17 academic leaders across 6 affiliate hospitals. There was considerable variability in clinical full-time effort definition. "Academic time," more accurately characterized as "nonclinical time," was typically 1 day a week for nonshift specialties and mostly used for administrative work or completing clinical documentation. Certain departments were more explicit in designating and protecting time for academic pursuits; some had invested resources in intensive programs for academic advancement with built-in expectations for accountability. The impact of documentation burden was considerable in certain departments., Discussion and Conclusion: Marked variability exists in time allocations for clinical and academic work, as well as in resources for academic success. This supports the potential value of establishing standards for defining and protecting academic time, motivating clinical faculty to engage in academic work, and building accountability expectations. The percentage of infectious diseases (ID) fellowship positions filled has declined in the last years despite a relatively stable number of applicants. The data are concerning since this could impact an already strained workforce. A recent survey of ID fellowship program directors provides insight into the perceptions of program directors about factors that might have affected the match rate in 2023 and could also be applicable to the recent 2024 match. Here, we discuss the results of this survey and discuss the complex factors that might influence the choice of ID as an specialty. The 2023 United States infectious diseases (ID) fellowship match resulted in a large percentage of programs with unfilled positions. A survey was sent to ID program directors nationwide to better understand their perceptions on the match. Program directors perceived geography, a small applicant pool, and low specialty pay as contributing factors to the match results. Developing specialized fellowship tracks, increasing funding for the ID trainee pipeline, and national advocacy for higher compensation were identified as areas to focus on to increase the applicant pool. Background: With the transition away from traditional numerical grades/scores, residency applicant factors such as service, research, leadership, and extra-curricular activities may become more critical in the application process., Objective: To assess the importance of residency application factors reported by program directors (PDs), stratified by director demographics and specialty., Method: A questionnaire was electronically distributed to 4241 residency PDs in 23 specialties during spring 2022 and included questions on PD demographics and 22 residency applicant factors, including demographics, academic history, research involvement, and extracurricular activities. Responses were measured using a Likert scale for importance. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square and Fisher exact test analysis were performed., Results: 767 questionnaires were completed (19% response rate). Across all specialties, the factor considered most important was the interview (99.5%). When stratified by specialty, surgical PDs were more likely to characterize class rank, letters of recommendation, research, presenting scholarly work, and involvement in collegiate sports as extremely important/very important (all p < 0.0001). In contrast, primary care PDs favored the proximity of the candidate's hometown (p = 0.0002) and community service (p = 0.03). Mean importance of applicant factors also differed by PD age, gender, and ethnicity., Conclusion: We have identified several residency application factors considered important by PDs, stratified by their specialty, demographics, and previous experiences. Background: Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) is the main reference database in the region; however, the way in which this resource is used in Cochrane systematic reviews has not been studied., Objectives: To assess the search methods of Cochrane reviews that used LILACS as a source of information and explore the Cochrane community's perceptions about this resource., Methods: We identified all Cochrane reviews of interventions published during 2019, which included LILACS as a source of information, and analysed their search methods and also ran a survey through the Cochrane Community., Results: We found 133 Cochrane reviews that reported the full search strategies, identifying heterogeneity in search details. Background: Many UK junior doctors are now taking a year out of the traditional training pathway, usually before specialty training, and some choose to work as a clinical teaching fellow (CTF). CTFs primarily have responsibility for delivering hospital-based teaching to undergraduate medical students. Only a very small amount of literature is available regarding CTF posts, none of which has explored why doctors choose to undertake the role and their expectations of the job. This study aimed to explore the expectations and experiences of CTFs employed at NHS hospital Trusts in the West Midlands., Methods: CTFs working in Trusts in the West Midlands region registered as students on the Education for Healthcare Professionals Post Graduate Certificate course at the University of Birmingham in August 2019 took part in a survey and a focus group., Results: Twenty-eight CTFs participated in the survey and ten participated in the focus group. In the survey, participants reported choosing a CTF role due to an interest in teaching, wanting time out of training, and being unsure of which specialty to choose. Expectations for the year in post were directly related to reasons for choosing the role with participants expecting to develop teaching skills, and have a break from usual clinical work and rotations. The focus group identified five main themes relating to experiences starting their job, time pressures and challenges faced in post, how CTF jobs differed between Trusts, and future career plans. Broadly, participants reported enjoying their year in a post at a mid-year point but identified particular challenges such as difficulties in starting the role and facing time pressures in their day-to-day work., Conclusion: This study has provided a valuable insight into the CTF role and why doctors choose a CTF post and some of the challenges experienced, adding to the sparse amount of literature. Understanding post holders' experiences may contribute to optimisation of the role. Those employing CTFs should consider ensuring a formal handover process is in place between outgoing and incoming CTFs, having a lead person at their Trust responsible for evaluating changes suggested by CTFs, and the balance of contractual duties and personal development time., (© 2024. Background: Digital health has surged during the Covid health crisis, and the use of social media, already prevalent in medicine, has significantly increased. There are Social Networks groups dedicated to physicians with an educational purpose. These groups also facilitate peer discussions on medical questions and the sharing of training materials., Objectives: The aim of our study was to assess the value of these new tools and their contribution to medical education., Methods: An anonymous questionnaire was conducted among members of a Social Networks community group for physicians. The survey received responses from 1451 participants., Results: The majority of participants believed they had enriched their medical knowledge and accessed documents they would not have accessed without the group. Background and Objective: Various ways exist to display the effectiveness of medical treatment options. This study examined various psychiatric, medical and allied professionals' understanding and perceived usefulness of eight effect size indices for presenting both dichotomous and continuous outcome data., Methods: We surveyed 1316 participants from 13 countries using an online questionnaire. We presented hypothetical treatment effects of interventions versus placebo concerning chronic pain using eight different effect size measures. For each index, the participants had to judge the magnitude of the shown effect, to indicate how certain they felt about their own answer and how useful they found the given effect size index., Findings: Overall, 762 (57.9%) participants fully completed the questionnaire. In terms of understanding, the best results emerged when both the control event rate (CER) and the experimental event rate (EER) were presented. The difference in minimal importance difference units (MID unit) was understood worst. Respondents also found CER and EER to be the most useful presentation approach while they rated MID unit as the least useful. Confidence in the risk ratio ranked high, even though it was rather poorly understood., Conclusions and Clinical Implications: For dichotomous outcomes, presenting the effects in terms of the CER and EER could lead to the most correct interpretation. Relative measures including the risk ratio must be supplemented with absolute measures such as the CER and EER. Effects on continuous outcomes were better understood through standardised mean differences than mean differences. Introduction: The possibility of balancing career and family is meanwhile a central concern for most physicians when choosing a job. The aim of this study was to identify current barriers and opportunities for physician education and career planning., Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted as an online survey between 11/2021 and 02/2022 and targeted physicians at all career levels in Germany who were members of a clinical professional association. Alternative and consent questions were used to assess experiences/attitudes toward various aspects of life and career planning, as well as alternative work and parental leave models, depending on gender, specialty, and hierarchical level., Results: The majority of the 2060 participants were female (69%) and had children (66%). Many childless residents reported that they felt they had to choose between children and a career. The majority of female residents, specialists and attending physicians (Ø 55.5%) stated that they had experienced career losses as a result of taking parental leave, while most men did not share this experience (Ø 53.7%). 92% of all participants agreed with the statement that men and women have different career opportunities. Job-sharing models were considered feasible at all levels of the hierarchy by an average of 55.6% of all medical executives., Conclusion: Parenthood and the use of parental leave and part-time work appear to have a significant impact on the career paths of those surveyed. Introduction: The shortage of medicines and medical supplies remains to be a major issue that is facing public health facilities in Tanzania. This situation has been influenced by lack of consistency in the supply chain, increase in healthcare demand, poor regulatory system, insufficient funds, and lack of conducive infrastructure. Formerly, the Government initiatives such as engagement with the Prime Vendor System (PVS) demonstrated great assistance in getting rid of this challenge. Despite the operation of PVS, a recent shortage of medicines and medical supplies has been noticed., Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of PVS on the availability of medicine and medical supplies in the selected public health facilities in Arusha District Council., Methods: The study used a case study design with mixed research approach. The study involved 77 respondents which included 25 health facility in-charges, 50 patients, 1 District Pharmacist and 1 Prime Vendor. Questionnaires, interviews, and observation methods were used to collect data. Data collected covered a period of 2021-2022. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data whereas descriptive analysis was used to analyze the quantitative data with the help of Excel and the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 28.0., Results: The analysis indicates that PVS is not completely effective in supplying medicines and medical supplies due to its low capacity to conform to the orders placed by the public health facilities, a lack of supply competition, and a failure to adhere to contractual terms. Furthermore, at the time of data collection, the average availability of medicines and medical supplies at the selected public health facilities was 74.8%, while 80% of the selected public health facilities reported having a scarcity of medicines and medical supplies, and 92% of the interviewed patients reported having no full access to medicines., Conclusion: Despite the shortcomings associated with the operation of the PVS, the system still seems to be very important for enhancing the availability of medicines and medical supplies once its effectiveness is strengthened. Background: As the population ages, musculoskeletal disorders are a prominent contributory factor to loss of mobility and autonomy. Pain is a predictor of disability and worsening frailty and the role of the chronic pain specialist in the management of this cohort cannot be overstated. With growing requirements for pain specialists, we sought to identify barriers to recruitment within this specialty., Aims: Establish baseline attitudes and perceived barriers towards a career in pain medicine among Irish anaesthesiology trainees. Suggest a framework to improve recruitment to the specialty., Methods: Ethical approval was obtained. A web-based questionnaire was sent to all anaesthesiologists in training in the Republic of Ireland. Data was analyzed using SPSS., Results: Two hundred forty-eight trainees received the questionnaire, 59 responded. 54.2% male, 45.8% female. 79.7% had previous clinical exposure to pain medicine, most of whom had spent over one month with a service. Only 10.2% of respondents were considering a career in pain medicine. Factors that attracted trainees to the subspeciality included: interventional practice (81%), variation in clinical practice (66.7%), autonomy of practice (61.9%) and perceived good work-life balance (42.9%). Deterrents from the subspecialty included a psychologically challenging patient cohort (69.5%), frequency of clinics (50.8%), and additional exams (32.2%). When asked how to improve engagement with the speciality, 62% suggested earlier exposure to the speciality and 32.2% suggested increased frequency of formal teaching and workshops., Conclusions: Increased exposure of trainees to the specialty during early stages of training may improve future recruitment to the subspecialty in Ireland., (© 2023. Background: Young doctors' choice of medical specialty is essential to maintaining a sufficient health workforce and developing a sustainable healthcare system. The choice of specialization is the result of numerous factors, including doctors' preferences, population needs, and the number of available residency slots. The aim of this article is to explore the factors taken into consideration by young Polish physicians in choosing their future specialty., Methods: We have conducted 30 structured interviews with randomly selected recent medical school graduates (17 female and 13 male). The study was conducted from December 2022 until February 2023 using online platforms. Data from in-depth interviews were coded using NVivo Release 1.6.1. Then thematic analysis was performed., Results: Respondents indicated remuneration and career-associated factors as the main determinants, emphasizing that work-life balance, personal motivations, and the flexibility to choose the type of workplace (hospital vs. outpatient clinic) were even more important. Young doctors expect flexibility in working hours and better working conditions in future work, and these factors are important when choosing a medical specialty. Significant difficulties during the selection of medical specialty include limited residency slots in preferred specializations and lack of knowledge concerning the everyday aspects of work in a particular specialty., Conclusions: Factors and limitations influencing the choice of medical specialty should be taken into account by policymakers to address the shortages of doctors in deficit specialties. Background: Master clinicians are recognized as multidimensional experts in clinical medicine. Studying their formative clinical activities could generate insights to guide medical trainees and early career clinicians., Objectives: To investigate which early career activities were adopted more commonly by master clinicians than their matched peers and to characterize master clinicians' early career activities across institutions and specialties., Subjects and Methods: We surveyed master clinicians at seven medical centres about their early career activities. For master clinicians in the Department of Medicine (DOM), we also surveyed matched internist peers., Results: Of 150 master clinician respondents, 65% were internists (DOM); 35% practiced in other specialties. Background: An electronic consultation (e-consult) platform was implemented to support pediatric primary care providers (PCPs) in providing gender-affirming care to transgender and nonbinary (TNB) adolescents. Following implementation, a study was conducted to (1) explore how access to this e-consult platform impacts PCP confidence and referral patterns, (2) describe the content of questions, and (3) evaluate PCP's perspectives regarding platform usability. Methods: Following each submission, providers completed a 17-item survey. A total of 20 providers submitted 38 e-consults and 26 follow-up surveys between October 2021 and December 2022. Results: All PCPs reported a high overall value and increased confidence caring for TNB adolescents. Nearly one in five (19%) felt it allowed them to avoid submitting a specialty referral. Mean System Usability Scale score was 78.2 indicating good usability. Conclusion: This e-consult platform shows great promise in increasing PCP confidence providing gender-affirming care adolescents. More widespread utilization could help improve access to care and decrease specialty care referrals.

Objectives: The study aimed to evaluate attitudes of Japanese medical students toward career development, including the acquisition of medical specialty and doctorate degree qualifications., Design: This involved a web-based questionnaire survey., Setting: We asked medical students about attitudes toward career development after graduation. We also asked them about their intentions to acquire a medical specialty and a doctorate degree using a 5-point Likert scale., Participants: All 699 medical students (from first to sixth grade) in our medical school., Results: The overall questionnaire response rate was 66.5% (465 of 699). Over 90.3% (420 of 465) of respondents desired the clinical discipline, while only 10 of 465 respondents (2.2%) did for basic research. Awareness of career development for ≥8 years after graduation was significantly lower compared with that for 1-2 years after graduation among fourth-sixth year students (fourth p=0.0023, fifth p<0.001, sixth p<0.001). Awareness of career development for 3-7 years after graduation was significantly lower compared with that for 1-2 years after graduation among third-sixth year students (third p<0.001, fourth p=0.003, fifth p<0.001, sixth p<0.001). In the sixth year medical students, only 10.3% showed strong awareness of career development for ≥8 years after graduation, while 39.7% of them did for 1-2 years after graduation. Background: The percentage of physicians identifying as Latina has not improved despite improvements in recruitment of Latina medical students, suggesting barriers to retention and career advancement. Discriminatory experiences and mental health inflictions throughout training may contribute to difficulties in recruitment, retainment, and advancement of Hispanic/Latinx trainees, a notably understudied population., Methods: An anonymous, online survey was distributed to Latinas in the continental U.S. between June 22 to August 12, 2022. Eligibility criteria included: self-identifying as Hispanic/Latina, female/woman, and completing or have completed medical school, residency, or fellowship in the continental U.S. in the past 10 years. Recruitment was done via the Twitter account @LatinasInMed and outreach to Latino Medical Student Association chapters. Descriptive statistics summarized the self-reported experiences., Results: The survey included 230 Hispanic/Latinx women, mostly medical students (46.9%). A majority (54.5%) reported negative ethnicity-based interactions from patients and/or patients' families; 71.8%, from others in the medical field. High rates of depression (76.2%) and anxiety (92.6%) during training were reported by Latinas, especially medical students. Feelings of imposter syndrome and burnout were high at 90.7% and 87.4%, respectively., Conclusions: This is the first study evaluating the unique experiences of Latinas in medicine, who reported discrimination and mental health struggles, specifically during medical school, at alarmingly high rates. Background: There is a decline in the interest in pursuing a career in nephrology globally as well as locally in Northern Ireland. There is also an expansion in the burden of kidney disease worldwide due to a combination of factors like higher detection rates, increase in population size and improved life expectancy. Workforce shortages in nephrology have a direct impact on provision of care for people with kidney disease. Understanding perceptions among doctors towards nephrology is an important factor in acknowledging the barriers in recruitment and advocating evidence based changes to improve current practices., Aim: The aim of this study is to explore both the positive and the negative perceptions among medical students and trainees towards nephrology as a specialty in order to understand the factors that are most influential in either choosing or forgoing a career in nephrology., Methods: Scoping review methodology was used to address the research question through a phenomenological lens. Sixteen articles were included that studied the perceptions towards nephrology mainly through questionnaires and also through direct quotations. Basic numerical analysis and content analysis was completed., Findings: A total of 3745 participants including medical students, trainees and consultants participated in the 16 studies were included in this review at an international level. Most of the studies used survey (questionnaire) as their methodology (n= 10). The seven themes that emerged to describe perceptions towards nephrology were exposure to specialty; complex specialty; mentorship; work-life balance; financial compensation; personal interest; and procedural component. Exposure to specialty was the most influential factor in future career choice decision. Background: The advanced heart failure (HF) and transplant cardiology specialty has seen a decrease in applicants seeking training in the field. Data are needed to identify principal reform areas to generate and maintain interest in the field for sustainability., Methods: Women in Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory support conducted a survey across their membership group investigating the barriers to attracting new talent and areas that need reform to improve the status of the specialty. A Likert scale was used to assess various perceived barriers to attracting new trainees and reform needed to improve the specialty., Results: A total of 131 women physicians in transplant and mechanical circulatory support responded to the survey. Five principal areas in need of reform were identified: need for practice model variety (86.9%), inadequate compensation for non-revenue value unit activities and total compensation (86.4% and 79.1%, respectively), challenging work-life balance (78.5%), need for curriculum reform and specialized pathways (73.1% and 65.4%, respectively), and exposure during general cardiology fellowship (65.1%)., Conclusion: Given the increasing number of patients with HF and the increased demand for more HF specialists, reform is needed to restructure the 5 areas identified in our survey to increase interest in the field of advanced HF and transplant cardiology and maintain the current talent., Competing Interests: Declaration of Competing Interest None of the authors have any conflicts of interest., (Copyright © 2023 Elsevier Inc. Introduction: The purpose of this study is to explore current perceptions within the military surgery community to stratify key obstacles to pursuing a career in academic surgery and identify opportunities for mitigation., Methods: After receiving institutional review board approval, an anonymous electronic survey was distributed to military surgeons across all branches. Survey response data were collected and analyzed using chi-square test., Results: The response rate was approximately 22%. Of those who responded to the survey, most are interested in an academic career (61.5%); however, 64% believe this to be much more difficult as a military surgeon than as a civilian surgeon. The top three perceived obstacles include administrative obstacles (76.4%), operational commitments (65.8%), and lack of funding for academic pursuits (62.7%). Most respondents indicated that they have never received formal education regarding how to apply for research funding (84.5%) and most do not have a research mentor (60.9%). Additionally, 42.9% state that obstacles to an academic career in surgery impact their decision to leave the military. Younger surgeons were more likely to leave the military upon completion of their service commitment (67.9% versus 46.4% aged 20-39 y, P = 0.02)., Conclusions: We characterized the perceived challenges to academic surgery within the military. These barriers between academic surgery and military service risk medical force attrition, particularly in future generations of surgeons. Background and Objectives: Research on preparedness for independent clinical practice typically uses surveys of residents and program directors near graduation, which can be affected by several biases. We developed a novel approach to assess new graduates more objectively using physician and staff member assessors 3 months after graduates started their first job., Methods: We conducted a literature review and key informant interviews with physicians from varying practice types and geographic regions in the United States to identify features that indicate a lack of preparedness for independent clinical practice. We then held a Clinical Preparedness Measurement Summit, engaging measurement experts and family medicine education leaders, to build consensus on key indicators of readiness for independent clinical practice and survey development strategies. The 2015 entrustable professional activities for family medicine end-of-residency training provided the framework for assessment of clinical preparedness by physician assessors. Sixteen published variables assessing interpersonal communication skills and processes of care delivery were identified for staff assessors. We assessed frequencies and compared survey findings between physician and staff assessors in 2016 to assist with survey validation., Results: The assessment of frequencies demonstrated a range of responses, supporting the instrument's ability to distinguish readiness for independent practice of recent graduate hires. No statistical differences occurred between the physician and staff assessors for the same physician they were evaluating, indicating internal consistency., Conclusions: To learn about the possible impact of length of training, we developed a novel approach to assess preparedness for independent clinical practice of family medicine residency graduates.

Background: The correct selection of treatment techniques and methods in physiotherapy depends directly on a well-structured anamnesis, examination and assessment. Within urogynecological and obstetric physiotherapy there is no standardized and protocolized assessment that allows to follow established steps. For all this, the main objective of this study was to identify the assessment items that should be included in the a physiotherapeutic uro-gynecological assessment., Methods: Delphi study through a group of experts. Prior to this, a systematic search was carried out, accompanied by a review of grey literature, to obtain the possible items to be included in the forms. Subsequently, a Delphi study with two consecutive rounds of questionnaires was developed. A total of 6 expert physiotherapists participated in the study., Results: The initial questionnaire had 97 items and after two rounds one item was eliminated to obtain a total of 96 items in the final questionnaire., Conclusions: The experts agreed on most of the choices and finally obtained a standardized and protocolized assessment in uro-gynecological physiotherapy. Introduction: The career intentions of medical students can exert influence on service provision and medical staffing in the health services. It is vital for a specialty's development and sustainability that it has a constant stream of trainees into it annually. An appreciation of how a specialty is viewed by medical students can be used as an opportunity for early intervention in order to improve perception of the specialty and reduce future workforce problems, such as retention and attrition within obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G). We aimed to analyse positive and negative factors of the specialty of O&G as perceived by medical students in order to gain insight into changes that need to be made to improve recruitment and retention into the specialty., Methods: A 70-item structured questionnaire consisting of demographic information and 5-point Likert scale questions relating to O&G was administered to final year medical students in the Republic of Ireland. Data were analysed with descriptive statistics, logistic regression, and odds ratios as appropriate., Results: Of 195 medical students approached, 134 completed the questionnaire, a response rate of 68.7%. The majority were female (55.2%, n = 74) and 76.1% of respondents (n = 102) were Direct Entry Medicine students, with the remainder Graduate Entry Medicine students. 30.8% (n = 41) of students who responded scored 6 or more on a 10-point Likert scale when asked about their likelihood of considering a career in O&G. Students' clerkship experience factored heavily into their perception of the specialty and was more likely to be positive if they experienced direct consultant engagement and the opportunity for hands-on experience. Lifestyle factors, litigation and media were found to be deterrents to considering the specialty after graduation., Conclusions: This study demonstrates the importance of good clerkship experience in fostering an interest amongst undergraduates in O&G. Choosing a career pathway in medicine is a high stakes decision for both medical students and the field of medicine as a whole. While past research has examined how characteristics of the medical student or specialties influence this decision, we introduce temporal elements as novel variables influencing career selection decisions in medicine. Specifically, we investigate how timing and duration of residency options, based on a rotation schedule that medical students have limited control over, influence their career selection decisions. An archival study investigating 5 years of medical student rotation schedules (N = 115) reveals that clinical rotation options appearing earlier and more often in the schedule were more likely to be selected. Moreover, timing and duration of exposure interacted such that residency options appearing later in the schedules were more likely to be selected if they also appeared more often. Conditional logistic regressions using student fixed-effects to control for idiosyncratic medical student differences (i.e., gender, & debt, etc.), and residency fixed-effects to control for idiosyncratic residency differences (income, and lifestyle, etc.), revealed the rotation schedule had a significant impact on residency selection decisions even when controlling for factors typically influencing this decision. Medical students' career decisions are influenced by when and how long different choice options appear in their rotation schedule, especially when they have limited influence over this schedule. Background Virtual interviews for surgery residency may improve interview opportunities for applicants from underrepresented in medicine (UIM) and lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Objective To compare the geographic reach of surgical residency applicants during in-person versus virtual interviews. Methods This study compared applicants for the 2019 (in-person) and 2020 (virtual interviews) application cycle for surgery residency. Geographic reach (GR) was defined as the distance between applicants' current location and the program. Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council's website supplied socioeconomic data using applicants' geographic locations. Applicant demographics, United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores, and geographic distance to program were collected. Multivariable analyses examined GR with interaction terms between interview type, UIM status, and socioeconomic status, while controlling for USMLE scores. Results A total of 667 (2019) and 698 (2020) National Resident Matching Program applications were reviewed. Overall, there was no difference in GR for applicants during in-person and virtual interviews in multivariable testing. UIM status had no association with GR for in-person interviews, but virtual interviews were associated with an increased GR for UIM applicants compared to non-UIM applicants (235.17; 95% CI 28.87-441.47; P =.02). For in-person interviews, applicants living in communities with poverty levels ≥7% had less GR vs those in communities with levels <7% (-332.45; 95% CI -492.10, -172.79; P <.001), an effect not observed during virtual interviews. Conclusions There was no difference in overall GR, or the proportion of UIM applicants or those from higher poverty level communities, but virtual survey interviews during the COVID-19 pandemic were associated with increased GR for UIM and from lower socioeconomic backgrounds applicants.

Background: The future composition of a country's physician workforce depends on medical students' choices of specialties. Students' familiarity with the job market (the healthcare system) they are about to enter and the influence job market conditions have on their choices has not been well explored. This study focuses on whether and how the healthcare system's employment landscape is taken into consideration by medical students and whether this facet adds information about the specialty selection process., Methods: Fifth-year medical students completed a questionnaire querying their knowledge and perceptions of the national healthcare system, selection criteria for choosing a specialty and a post-residency work position. Data were analyzed with two-tailed Student's t-tests and multivariable regression analysis., Results: The questionnaire was completed by 242 students (49% women). Forty per cent were interested in a specialty where it is 'easy to find work' and 64% in a specialty that 'provides job security'. Only 12% were attracted to specialties with empty positions due to a workforce shortage. A high salary was considered an important selection criterion by 45% of students, who were also not deterred by specialties with surplus workforce, especially, if accompanied by high salaries or controllable lifestyles. Only 17% thought it would be easy to find a residency in any hospital in the specialty they chose, reflecting the low rate (3%) of positive responses to the statement that 'there are sufficient residency positions in all specialties'., Conclusions: This study demonstrated the utility of querying medical students about their market awareness when investigating the specialty selection process. Students' poor rating of selection criteria, such as specialties with ease in finding jobs because they are suffering workforce shortages and have empty positions, provide insights and concerns for healthcare leaders. It should aid them in approaching the challenge of attracting students to specialties with workforce shortfalls.KEY MESSAGESThis study demonstrated the feasibility and potential value of adding queries about market awareness when investigating the medical student specialty selection process.Medical students were more interested in a specialty that provides job security than one where it is easy to find work.It could be useful for the healthcare leadership and medical educators in all countries to learn what medical students know about their national healthcare system and whether they need to add more healthcare delivery and system subjects to their curricula.

This study aimed to identify the factors associated with students' career choices and the decision whether they wanted to be trained abroad or in Pakistan. The study utilised a cross-sectional design and was conducted between July 2021 and February 2022. An anonymous survey was distributed among the medical students at Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan. All analysis was carried out using Stata 17. A total of 269 students participated in the study. The most sought-after specialties were surgery 68 (25.3%), medicine 25(9.3%), and paediatrics 14(5.2%), and the decision was highly influenced by positive mentors and lifestyle. In addition, 259 (96%) of the students expressed a desire to practice abroad for training due to higher financial prospects and quality of training. This study revealed that providing enthusiastic mentors may encourage medical students to pursue a broader range of specialties. Furthermore, there is a need for advances in postgraduate training and increase in salaries to restore trust in Pakistan's healthcare system.

Purpose: Underrepresented in medicine (UIM) residents experience challenges during training that threaten their sense of belonging in medicine; therefore, residency programs should intentionally implement interventions to promote belonging. This study explored UIM pediatric residents' perspectives on current residency program measures designed to achieve this goal., Method: The authors conducted a secondary qualitative analysis as part of a national cross-sectional study, PROmoting Med-ed Insight into Supportive Environments (PROMISE), which explored pediatric residents' experiences and perspectives during training in relation to their self-identities. A 23-item web-based survey was distributed through the Association of Pediatric Program Directors Longitudinal Educational Research Assessment Network from October 2020 to January 2021. Participants provided free-text responses to the question "What are current measures that promote a sense of belonging for the UIM community in your training program?" The authors used conventional content analysis to code and identify themes in responses from UIM participants., Results: Of the 1,748 residents invited to participate, 931 (53%) residents from 29 programs completed the survey, with 167 (18%) identifying as UIM. Of the 167 UIM residents, 74 (44%) residents from 22 programs responded to the free-text question. The authors coded more than 140 unique free-text responses and identified 7 major themes: (1) critical mass of UIM residents; (2) focused recruitment of UIM residents; (3) social support, including opportunities to build community among UIM residents; (4) mentorship; (5) caring and responsive leadership; (6) education on health disparities, diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism; and (7) opportunities to serve, including giving back to the local community and near-peer mentorship of UIM premedical and medical students., Conclusions: This is the first national study to describe UIM pediatric residents' perspectives on interventions that promote a sense of belonging. Building a score from a questionnaire to predict a binary gold standard is a common research question in psychology and health sciences. When building this score, researchers may have to choose between statistical performance and simplicity. A practical question is to what extent it is worth sacrificing the former to improve the latter. We investigated this research question using real data, in which the aim was to predict an alcohol use disorder (AUD) diagnosis from 20 self-reported binary questions in young Swiss men (n = 233, mean age = 26). We compared the statistical performance using the area under the ROC curve (AUC) of (a) a "refined score" obtained by logistic regression and several simplified versions of it ("simple scores"): with (b) 3, (c) 2, and (d) 1 digit(s), and (e) a "sum score" that did not allow negative coefficients. We used four estimation methods: (a) maximum likelihood, (b) backward selection, (c) LASSO, and (d) ridge penalty. We also used bootstrap procedures to correct for optimism. Simple scores, especially sum scores, performed almost identically or even slightly better than the refined score (respective ranges of corrected AUCs for refined and sum scores: 0.828-0.848, 0.835-0.850), with the best performance been achieved by LASSO. Our example data demonstrated that simplifying a score to predict a binary outcome does not necessarily imply a major loss in statistical performance, while it may improve its implementation, interpretation, and acceptability. ABSTRACT While it is well established that medical student learning about abortion is inadequate and lacks systemisation, there is little research on why this might be the case. This exploratory study draws on a survey sent to 438 medical educators at Australia's 21 accredited medical schools through March-May 2021. Forty-eight educators responded to the survey. In this article, I examine their responses alongside policy and research on medical education to consider how curricula are determined. I conceptualise abortion exceptionalism - the singling out of abortion from other areas of medicine on the grounds that it is special, different, or more complex or risky than is empirically justified - as a mode of 'stigma-in-action', arguing that medical curricula are powerful sites for its reproduction and undoing.

Purpose: In 1974, Dr. Herbert Freudenberger coined the term burnout. With the creation of the Maslach Burnout Inventory in 1984, burnout went from a pop psychology term to a highly studied phenomenon in medicine. Exponential growth in studies of burnout culminated in its adoption into the International Classification of Diseases-11 in 2022. Yet, despite increased awareness and efforts aimed at addressing burnout in medicine, many surveys report burnout rates have increased among trainees. The authors aimed to identify different discourses that legitimate or function to mobilize burnout in postgraduate medical education (PGME), to answer the question: Why does burnout persist in PGME despite efforts to ameliorate it?, Method: Using a Foucauldian discourse analysis, this study examined the socializing period of PGME as an entry point into burnout's persistence. The archive from which the discourses were constructed included over 500 academic articles, numerous policy documents, autobiographies, videos, documentaries, social media, materials from conferences, and threads in forums including Reddit., Results: This study identified 3 discourses of burnout from 1974-2019: burnout as illness, burnout as occupational stress, and burnout as existentialism. Each discourse was associated with statements of truth, signs and signifiers, roles that individuals play within the discourse, and different institutions that gained visibility as a result of differing discourses., Conclusions: Burnout persists despite effort to ameliorate it because it is a productive construct for organizations. Background: Limited information exists regarding how medical students' specialty interests evolve throughout medical school, particularly interest in surgical versus non-surgical specialties. Our objective was to identify medical students' specialty interests before and after medical school and the most important curricular and non-curricular factors that shaped their specialty choice., Methods: An online 22-question voluntary, anonymized survey was designed to assess specialty interests and factors impacting specialty choice at a single medical school in the United States. The study was pilot-tested with focus groups. The final questionnaire was distributed to final-year medical students from the Classes of 2020 and 2021. Responses were measured on a 5-point Likert scale (1 = strong negative impact to 5 = strong positive impact)., Results: 102 of 184 students (55%) from Class of 2020 and 85 of 174 students (49%) from Class of 2021 participated. Of 187 respondents, the majority (60%) decided on their specialty during third year. 74 of 147 students (50%) pursued a specialty among their initial specialty interests. Students with initial surgical interests were significantly (p < 0.001) less likely to choose surgical specialties (42%) compared to students with initial non-surgical interests choosing non-surgical specialties (79%). Pre-clinical years (3.67 ± 0.96) were perceived to have a significantly (p < 0.001) less positive impact on specialty interests and choice compared to clinical years. Among pre-clinical factors, physician shadowing (3.80 ± 0.83) was perceived to have the significantly (p < 0.001) greatest positive impact. During clinicals, 34% of respondents indicated that order of clerkships impacted specialty choice. 112 of 171 respondents (65%) indicated that mentorship impacted specialty choice. Physicians in the chosen specialty were perceived to have the strongest impact (4.67 ± 0.49). 65 of 171 respondents (38%) indicated that peers impacted specialty choice with classmates (3.98 ± 0.87) and near-peers (3.83 ± 0.74) perceived to have a positive impact., Conclusions: Specialty interests changed during medical school for a significant portion of students (50%). Those with initial surgical interests were more likely to change their specialty interests. Pre-clinicals were reported to have less impact on specialty choice compared to clinicals. Implementing factors such as shadowing and physician/peer mentorship, which may positively impact specialty choice, into pre-clinical curricula warrants further investigation., (© 2023. Purpose: With the United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 1 transition to pass/fail in 2022, uncertainty exists regarding how other residency application components, including research conducted during medical school, will inform interview and ranking decisions. The authors explore program director (PD) views on medical student research, the importance of disseminating that work, and the translatable skill set of research participation., Method: Surveys were distributed to all U.S. residency PDs and remained open from August to November 2021 to query the importance of research participation in assessing applicants, whether certain types of research were more valued, productivity measures that reflect meaningful research participation, and traits for which research serves as a proxy. The survey also queried whether research would be more important without a numeric Step 1 score and the importance of research vs other application components., Results: A total of 885 responses from 393 institutions were received. Ten PDs indicated that research is not considered when reviewing applicants, leaving 875 responses for analysis. Among 873 PDs (2 nonrespondents), 358 (41.0%) replied that meaningful research participation will be more important in offering interviews. A total of 164 of 304 most competitive specialties (53.9%) reported increased research importance compared with 99 of 282 competitive (35.1%) and 95 of 287 least competitive (33.1%) specialties. PDs reported that meaningful research participation demonstrated intellectual curiosity (545 [62.3%]), critical and analytical thinking skills (482 [55.1%]), and self-directed learning skills (455 [52.0%]). Introduction: Childhood experiences affect health across the lifespan. Evidence-based strategies targeting early-life stress are emerging. Nevertheless, faculty physicians' preparation to incorporate this science into practice has not been well studied. This study explores medical faculty knowledge and beliefs, timing and route of knowledge acquisition, perceived relevance and application of study topics, and characteristics associated with concept mastery., Methods: The authors developed and administered an exploratory survey to faculty from six departments at two medical schools. The team analyzed responses using quantitative and qualitative methods., Results: Eighty-one (8.8%) eligible faculty completed the survey. Of respondents, 53 (65.4%) achieved high knowledge, 34 (42.0%) high beliefs, and 42 (59.1%) high concept exposure question scores, but only 6 (7.4%) through a formal route. Although 78 (96.8%) respondents indicated that survey concepts are relevant, only 18 (22.2%) reported fully incorporating them in their work, and 48 (59.2%) identified the need for additional coaching. Respondents reporting full incorporation were significantly more likely to attain high concept exposure scores (17 respondents, 94.4%, versus 25 respondents, 39.7%, P < .001). Quantitative and qualitative analysis highlighted limited respondent awareness of trauma prevalence among health care workers, lack of familiarity with interventions, and time and resource challenges addressing childhood adversity., Discussion: Although survey respondents had some familiarity with study concepts and perceived their relevance, most are not fully applying them. Results suggest that exposure to study concepts is associated with full incorporation. Objectives: Abbreviations are often used in medicine yet may be a source of confusion for patients and their families. We aimed to determine the general public's understanding of commonly used medical acronyms., Methods: For this cross-sectional study, we surveyed state fair visitors regarding their understanding of 5 common medical acronyms. An electronic survey was administered to a volunteer sample of adults who spoke and read English and who had never trained to work in medicine or nursing. Free-text responses were coded as correct, partially correct, or incorrect by 2 independent researchers, adding a third researcher if consensus was not reached. Analysis methods included descriptive statistics, Fisher exact tests, and multivariable logistic regression models., Results: We recruited 204 volunteers (55% female; mean age 43 years; 67% had a bachelor's degree or higher). ED (emergency department) was correctly defined by 32%, PCP (primary care provider/physician) by 18%, CBC (complete blood count) by 14%, and PRN (as needed) and NPO (nothing by mouth) by 13% each. Female gender was associated with higher odds of correctly understanding NPO (odds ratio, 3.11; 95% confidence interval, 1.18-8.21; P = .02); older age was associated with higher odds of understanding PRN (odds ratio, 1.03; 95% confidence interval, 1.00-1.05; P = .04). Education level was not found to correlate significantly with successful explanation of any tested acronym., Conclusions: Medical acronyms are a predictable source of miscommunication. In this large cross-sectional study, none of the acronyms evaluated was understood correctly by more than one-third of adults. Objective: To describe experiences and activities of Clinical Informatics (CI) fellows since the first fellowships were accredited in 2014., Materials and Methods: We performed a voluntary and anonymous survey of 394 alumni and current clinical informatics fellows from the graduating classes of 2016-2024 in the summer of 2022., Results: We received 198 responses; 2% declined to participate. Most were male (62%), White (39%), 31-40 years old (72%), from primary care specialties (54%) and nonprocedural specialties (95%), and without prior informatics experience or any careers before medicine. Most fellows (87-94%) participated significantly in operations, research, coursework, quality improvement, and clinical care activities during fellowship., Discussion: Women, underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities, and procedural physicians were underrepresented. Many incoming CI fellows did not have an informatics background. During CI fellowship, trainees earned Master's degrees and certificates, were exposed to many different types of CI activities, and were able to spend most of their time pursuing projects that supported their personal career goals., Conclusion: These findings represent the most comprehensive report to date of CI fellows and alumni. Physicians without prior informatics experience who are interested in CI should be encouraged to apply because CI fellowship provides a strong foundation of informatics knowledge while supporting fellows' personal career goals. Introduction: The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) works in a cross-functional way, especially with the commercial department. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the knowledge of these positions about the MSL role in their companies and describe the grade of internal interaction between them in daily practice., Methods: An online survey was completed by 151 employees from commercial departments between January and April 2020. It consisted of 29 or 31 items, depending on answers., Results: Of participants, 22.5% and 77.5% occupied management or non-management positions, respectively. Most respondents stated that the MSL role belongs primarily to the medical department (94.6%), considered important that promotional materials are elaborated or supported by the medical department (95.4%), highlighted the importance of sharing their daily activity with MSLs (77.8%) and vice versa (89.3%). The most valuable activity of MSLs was clinical sessions (55.3%), followed by speaker briefings (16.0%), and data discussions (14.7%). Most useful activities of MSLs for participant's day to day were external training (sessions to healthcare providers, HCPs, 34.9%), support of key opinion leaders' (KOLs) unmet needs (22.1%), and feedback from fieldwork aimed at redefining new strategies of the company (15.4%). The mean overall assessment (0-10) of the MSL was 8.1., Conclusion: The MSL represents a key role inside pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies, providing scientific value. Introduction: The importance of the inclusion of sex and gender medicine (SGM) in medical education has been recognized formally by both the American Association of Medical Colleges and the Department of Health and Human Services since 1995. Yet, few medical schools, including the Medical College of Wisconsin, have a standard SGM curriculum. This work mapped the SGM health topics taught in the Medical College of Wisconsin preclinical curriculum., Methods: Seven medical students audited 16 basic science preclinical courses in 2020-2021. SGM characterizations, including epidemiology, diagnosis, presentation, treatment, prognosis, pharmacology, and disparity, were captured by an online survey tool. Comparisons were made to 38 high-yield topics presented in the textbook "How Sex and Gender Impact Clinical Practice: An Evidence-Based Guide to Patient Care.", Results: Of the 604 preclinical sessions audited, 54% contained some SGM content. Epidemiology was the most common characterization (23% of total). Thirty-four of the 38 high-yield clinical SGM topics received mention in the basic science sessions. Breast cancer, stroke, osteoporosis, sex and gender considerations in therapeutic response, and systemic lupus erythematosus had the most frequent SGM-specific coverage (representation in at least 4 of the 16 preclinical courses)., Conclusions: Utilizing a medical student cohort to thoroughly audit courses was an effective way to document that Medical College of Wisconsin preclinical curriculum introduces many clinically relevant SGM topics. However, the audit also discovered varying levels of detail among the high-yield topics with concern that students may not be adequately prepared to treat all patients. Next to overall survival, quality of life is becoming more and more pivotal for cancer patients. The various domains of quality of life are complex and have different value to each patient. However, not only patients but also health care professionals, the pharmaceutical industry, and regulatory bodies ask: How can quality of life be reliably ascertained in clinical trials? For this purpose, carefully developed and validated specific questionnaires are needed: the patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). A key challenge is to define how results based on PROMs can be used for shared decision-making. Next to clinical factors such as health and nutritional status, quality of life acts as a prognostic factor for overall survival in cancer. Introduction: Uncertainty is an inherent part of medicine. Prior work has trained medical students to better communicate diagnostic uncertainty; however, this work touches on only one aspect of the uncertainty students will face in practice. We developed a session to provide them with a taxonomy for categorizing the various types of uncertainty, as well as a framework to apply when navigating uncertainty during clinical challenges. These tools can help students make sense of uncertainty and determine actions in a complex health system., Methods: We designed a virtual workshop for third-year medical students at the end of their core clerkships. It included a didactic session followed by a small-group immersive unfolding case experience with several challenge points during which we tasked students with applying the framework, classifying the uncertainty domain, and discussing how they would problem-solve each scenario., Results: We conducted the workshop with 128 third-year medical students. We collected data through an anonymous postsession survey (86% response rate; 110 of 128 students). Most found the workshop useful (64%; 54 of 85), and a large number found the framework helpful in appraising uncertainty (47%; 42 of 89). A majority felt their perspectives on uncertainty changed after the workshop (66%; 73 of 110). Students integrated prior health systems science knowledge in their strategies to problem-solve each challenge., Discussion: This session provides a novel application of a sense-making framework and taxonomy for medical students to classify uncertainty. Abstract: Physiatrists are at elevated risk of burnout, a work-related exhaustion syndrome resulting from chronic stress associated with emotionally draining work demands. The high reported rate of burnout in physical medicine and rehabilitation led the Association of Academic Physiatrists Chair Council to convene a workgroup to address burnout among academic physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians. The council recognizes that leaders of departments are accountable for all organizational stakeholders, including faculty, trainees, and staff. Department leaders are expected to understand and effectively manage the drivers of burnout among stakeholders. The workgroup identified several opportunities, including identifying and disseminating effective burnout mitigation across US academic medical center physical medicine and rehabilitation programs. As a result, in 2019, a work group conducted a survey of US academic physical medicine and rehabilitation program leaders to ascertain the use of strategies for reducing physician burnout.
