Two new three-dimensional metal–organic frameworks, [H2N(CH3)2]2[Zn(btec)]·DMF (1, H4btec=1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate acid) and [H2N(CH3)2][ZnLi(btec)]·DMF (2), have been solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 based on μ4-btec features an anionic homometallic framework with 4-connected pts topology. Compound 2 is a heterometallic organic framework with rare (4, 4, 8)-connected network topology, which can be considered as constitute of a Li-btec (pts) net and a Zn-btec net. Abstract: Two new Cd coordination polymers, [Cd(5-Nisp)(e-urea)]n (1), and [Cd2(5-Hisp)2(e-urea)2(en)]n (2), (where 5-Nisp=5-nitroisophthalate; 5-Hisp=5-hydroxyisophthalate; e-urea=ethyleneurea; en=1,2-ethanediamine), have been urothermally synthesized by using ethyleneurea hemihydrate as the solvent. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that both 1 and 2 have linear chain sub-structures linked by 5-Nisp ligands or 5-Hisp ligands into three-dimensional frameworks. ZnWO4 nanorods with a bundle-like structure were synthesized at 180°C for 12 h by a hydrothermal technology from Na2WO4⋅2H2O and ZnSO4⋅7H2O in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The as-synthesized bundle-like structure of ZnWO4 nanorods was characterized by various techniques: TEM, XRD and EDS. A novel three-dimensional metal-organic framework with primitive cubic ( pcu) topology exhibits interesting tunable photoluminescent emission based on the variation of excitation light at room temperature. By judicious choice of two different conjugated organic linkers incorporating in a certain framework, the contributions of distinct emission bands may be finely controlled. Abstract: Solvent plays an important role in the self-assembly of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). It has been demonstrated that the urea derivatives are a new kind of useful solvents, and a new synthetic method denoted as “urothermal synthesis” is emerging. Presented here are the urothermal synthesis, structure and photoluminescent property of an interesting coordination polymer {Zn3[(sip)2(tmdpy)2(e-urea)4(H2O)2](e-urea)2}n (1; sip=5-sulfoisophthalate; tmdpy=1.3-di(4-pyridyl)propane; and e-urea=2-imidazolidinone) with ladder-like structure.
