A Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-sporulating, yellow-pigmented and rod or cocci-shaped bacterium, designated Arc0846-15 T , was isolated from the kelp Laminaria japonica . Strain Arc0846-15 T was found to grow at 16-35 °C (optimum, 28 °C), at pH 6.0-9.5 (optimum, 7.0) and in the presence of 0-6 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2 %). Cells were positive for catalase and negative for oxidase activity. Phylogenetic analyses, based on 16S rRNA gene sequence comparisons, revealed that the nearest phylogenetic neighbour strains of strain Arc0846-15 T were Ornithinimicrobium murale 01 Gi-040 T (96.2 %), Ornithinimicrobium kibberense K22-20 T (96.1 %) and Ornithinimicrobium humiphilum HKI 0124 T (95.2 %). Based on phylogenomic analysis, the average nucleotide identity values between strain Arc0846-15 T and the neighbour strains were 69.8, 69.7 and 69.8 %, respectively; the digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain Arc0846-15 T and its three closest neighbour strains were 18.8, 19.1 and 19.3 %, respectively. The predominant menaquinone was MK-8 (H 4 ). The dominant cellular fatty acids were C 17 : 1  ω 8 c , iso-C 15 : 0 , iso-C 16 : 0 and C 17 : 0 . The polar lipids contained diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, glycolipid, one unidentified aminolipid and four unidentified lipids. The DNA G+C content of strain Arc0846-15 T was 61.6 mol% based on the whole genome sequence. Based on the phylogenetic and phenotypic characteristics, strain Arc0846-15 T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Ornithinimicrobium , for which the name Ornithinimicrobium laminariae sp. nov. is proposed, with Arc0846-15 T (=KCTC 49655 T =MCCC 1K06093 T ) as the type strain.

A Gram-stain-negative, motile, facultative anaerobic and rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain NR704-98 T , was isolated from marine sediment of the northern South China Sea. Cells were positive for oxidase and catalase activity. Growth was observed at 4-30 °C (optimum 20-25 °C), at pH 6-9 (pH 7) and with 0.5-7 % NaCl (2 %). The 16S rRNA gene-based phylogenetic analysis revealed that the nearest phylogenetic neighbours of strain NR704-98 T were Shewanella woodyi MS32 T (97.9 %), Shewanella hanedai 281 T (97.1 %), Shewanella sediminis HAW-EB3 T (96.8 %) and Shewanella canadensis HAW-EB2 T (96.7 %). Based on the results of phylogenomic analysis, the average nucleotide identity and the digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain NR704-98 T and the previously mentioned type strains of species of the genus Shewanella were in the range of 74.9-93.1 % and 20.6-51.4 %, respectively. The respiratory quinones were Q-7 and Q-8. The predominant fatty acids (>10 %) of strain NR704-98 T were C 16 : 0 , summed feature 3 (C 16 : 1  ω 7 c and/or C 16 : 1  ω 6 c ) and iso-C 15 : 0 . Phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, two unidentified aminophospholipids and five unidentified lipids were detected in strain NR704-98 T . Based on the phylogenetic and phenotypic characteristics, strain NR704-98 T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Shewanella , for which the name Shewanella nanhaiensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is NR704-98 T (=KCTC 82799 T =MCCC 1K06091 T ).

A Gram-stain-negative, light pink-coloured, rod-shaped, flagellated and facultative anaerobic bacterial strain, designated MT2928 T , was isolated from deep-sea sediment collected from the Mariana Trench. Growth of strain MT2928 T occurred optimally at 28 °C, pH 8.0-9.0 and in the presence of 1.0-2.0 % (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain MT2928 T belongs to the genus Pontivivens and has the highest sequence similarity to Pontivivens insulae GYSW-23 T (96.6 %). Genomic analysis indicated that strain MT2928 T contains a circular chromosome of 4 199 362 bp with G+C content of 67.2 mol%. The strain did not produce bacteriochlorophyll a, but produced carotenoid. The predominant respiratory quinone of MT2928 T was ubiquinone-10. The polar lipids of MT2928 T contained diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified lipids and two unidentified phospholipids. The major fatty acids of strain MT2928 T contained summed feature 8 (C 18 : 1  ω 7 c or/and C 18 : 1  ω 6 c ), C 18 : 0 and summed feature 2 (iso-C 16 : 1 I and/or C 14 : 0 3-OH). On the basis of phylogenetic, physiological, biochemical and other phenotypic properties, strain MT2928 T represents a novel species of the genus Pontivivens , and the name Pontivivens ytuae sp. nov. is proposed with the type species MT2928 T (=MCCC 1K05575 T =JCM 34320 T ).

In this study, we report a Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, non-pigmented, motile and aerobic bacterium named strain MTZ26 T , which was isolated from deep-sea sediment sampled at a cold seep in the South China Sea. Growth of strain MTZ26 T occurred at 4-40 °C (optimum, 25-30 °C), pH 6.0-10.0 (optimum, 7.0-8.0) and with 1.0-11.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 6.0-8.0 %). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain MTZ26 T belonged to the genus Psychrosphaera and was closely related to Psychrosphaera aestuarii PSC101 T (97.5 % sequence similarity) and Psychrosphaera haliotis KDW4 T (97.5 %). Genomic analysis indicated that strain MTZ26 T contains a circular chromosome of 3 331 814 bp with G+C content of 42.2 mol%. The predominant respiratory quinone of MTZ26 T was ubiquinone-8. The polar lipids of MTZ26 T contained phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified aminophospholipid and one unidentified phospholipid. The major fatty acids of strain MTZ26 T contained C 15:0, C 16:0, C 17:0 , C 17 : 1  ω8 c , C 10 : 0 3-OH, C 11 : 0 3-OH, C 15 : 1  ω8 c and summed feature 8 (C 18 : 1  ω7 c or/and C 18 : 1  ω6 c ). Results of phylogenetic, physiological, biochemical and morphological analyses suggested that strain MTZ26 T represents a novel species of the genus Psychrosphaera , and the name Psychrosphaera ytuae sp. nov. is proposed with the type strain MTZ26 T (=MCCC 1K05568 T =JCM 34321 T ).

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-motile, yellow-pigmented rod-shaped and alginate-degrading bacterium, designated B1N29 T , was isolated from the gut of the abalone Haliotis rubra obtained in Weihai, China. Strain B1N29 T was found to grow at 4-35 ℃ (optimum, 25 ℃), at pH 6.5-9.0 (optimum, 7.0-7.5) and in the presence of 0.5-9% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2%). Cells were positive for oxidase and catalase activity. The 16S rRNA-based phylogenetic analysis revealed that the nearest phylogenetic neighbors of strain B1N29 T were Tamlana carrageenivorans KCTC 62451 T (98.2%) and Tamlana agarivorans KCTC 22176 T (97.7%). Based on the phylogenomic analysis, the average nucleotide identity (ANI) values between strain B1N29 T and the neighbor strains were 79.2 and 79.0%, respectively; the digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values between strain B1N29 T and its two closest neighbors were 22.8 and 23.0%, respectively. Menaquinone-6 (MK-6) was detected as the sole respiratory quinone. The dominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C 15:0 , iso-C 17:0 3-OH, anteiso-C 15:0 and iso-C 15:1 G. The polar lipids included phosphatidylethanolamine, one aminophospholipid, seven aminolipids and five unidentified lipids. Based on the phylogenetic and phenotypic characteristics, strain B1N29 T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Tamlana, for which the name Tamlana haliotis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is B1N29 T (= KCTC 72683 T  = MCCC 1H00394 T ).

A Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped and orange-pigmented bacterium, designated 1505 T , was isolated from marine sediment that was obtained off the coast of Weihai, PR China. Strain 1505 T was found to grow at 10-35 °C (optimum, 28 °C), at pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum, 7.5) and in the presence of 1-4 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2 %). Cells were positive for oxidase and catalase activity. The 16S rRNA gene based phylogenetic analysis revealed that the nearest phylogenetic neighbours of strain 1505 T were Seonamhaeicola algicola Gy8 T (97.1 %), Seonamhaeicola marinus B011 T (96.3 %) and Seonamhaeicola aphaedonensis KCTC 32578 T (95.6 %). Based on phylogenomic analysis, the average nucleotide identity values between strain 1505 T and S. algicola Gy8 T , S. marinus B011 T and S. aphaedonensis KCTC 32578 T were 75.9, 76.0 and 77.7 %, respectively; the digital DNA-DNA hybridization values based on the draft genomes between strain 1505 T and S. algicola Gy8 T , S. marinus B011 T and S. aphaedonensis KCTC 32578 T were 20.0, 20.7 and 21.4 %, respectively. Menaquinone-6 (MK-6) was detected as the major respiratory quinone. The dominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C 15 : 1 G and C 18 : 1 ω9 c . The DNA G+C content of strain 1505 T was 33.3 mol%. The polar lipids included phosphatidylethanolamine, six aminolipids and four unidentified lipids. Based on its phylogenetic and phenotypic characteristics, strain 1505 T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Seonamhaeicola , for which the name Seonamhaeicola maritimus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 1505 T (=KCTC 72528 T =MCCC 1H00389 T ).

A Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic, gliding-motile, rod-shaped and orange-pigmented bacterium, designated 1494 T , was isolated from marine sediment collected off the coast of Weihai, PR China. Strain 1494 T was found to grow at 4-37 °C (optimum, 30 °C), at pH 6.0-9.0 (pH 7.0) and in the presence of 0-8 % (w/v) NaCl (2 %). Cells were positive for oxidase and catalase activity. The results of 16S rRNA gene based phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain 1494 T belonged to the genus Formosa and exhibited the highest sequence similarity to Formosa spongicola KCTC 22662 T (98.4 %). Menaquinone-6 (MK-6) was detected as the major respiratory quinone. The dominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C 15 : 1 G and iso-C 15 : 0 . The DNA G+C content of strain 1494 T was 31.1 mol%. The major polar lipids included phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified phospholipid and one unidentified lipid. Based on its phylogenetic and phenotypic characteristics, strain 1494 T is considered to represent a novel species from the genus Formosa , for which the name Formosa maritima sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 1494 T (=KCTC 72531 T =MCCC 1H00385 T ).

In this study, we report a novel Gram-negative bacterium, designated as strain CS412 T , isolated from deep-sea sediment collected in a cold seep area of the South China Sea. Growth of strain CS412 T occurred at 4-40 °C (optimum, 28 °C), pH 5.0-11.0 (optimum, pH 6.0) and with 0-19 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1-2 %). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence data indicated that strain CS412 T belonged to the genus Marinobacter . The closest phylogenetic neighbours of strain CS412 T were Marinobacter pelagius HS225 T (96.9 %), Marinobacter szutsaonensis NTU-104 T (96.8%), Marinobacter santoriniensis NKSG1 T (96.4%) and Marinobacter koreensis dd-M3 T (96.3 %). The genomic DNA G+C content of strain CS412 T was 58.0 mol%. The principal respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-9 (Q-9). The polar lipids of CS412 T contained diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, aminophospholipidand and four glycolipids. The major fatty acids of CS412 T contained cyclo-C 19 : 0 ω8 c , C 16 : 0 , C 18 : 1 ω7 c and C 18 : 1 ω7 c 11-methyl. The results of phylogenetic, physiological, biochemical and morphological analyses suggested that strain CS412 T represents a novel species of the genus Marinobacter , and the name Marinobacter fonticola sp. nov. is proposed with the type species CS412 T (=CCTCC AB 2019197 T =KCTC 72475 T ).

A Gram-negative, aerobic, non-flagellated and ovoid- or rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain SM1902 T , was isolated from the sediment sampled at the Jia River estuary, Yantai, PR China. The strain grew at 10-37 °C (optimum, 25-30 °C), pH 6.0-10.0 (pH 7.0) and with 0.5-13.0 % (w/v) NaCl (2.5%). It reduced nitrate to nitrite, but did not produce bacteriochlorophyll a . The results of phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain SM1902 T constituted a separated lineage within the family Rhodobacteraceae and was closely related to Meridianimarinicoccus roseus TG-679 T and Phycocomes zhengii LMIT002 T with 96.1 and 94.3 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities, respectively. The predominant cellular fatty acid was summed feature 8 (C 18 : 1 ω7 c and/or C 18 : 1 ω6 c ). The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, an unidentified aminolipid and an unidentified lipid. The sole respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-10. The in silico DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain SM1902 T and Meridianimarinicoccus roseus TG-679 T and Phycocomes zhengii LMIT002 T were 19.6 and 19.5 %, respectively; and the average nucleotide identity values between them were 76.1 and 74.2 %, respectively. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain SM1902 T was 58.2 mol%. Based on the phylogenetic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic data obtained in this study, strain SM1902 T is considered to represent a novel species in a new genus within the family Rhodobacteraceae , for which the name Fluviibacterium aquatile gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SM1902 T (=KCTC 72045 T =MCCC 1K03596 T =CCTCC AB 2018346 T ).

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, oxidase- and catalase-positive, non-flagellated, non-gliding, yellow-pigmented, and rod-shaped bacterium with appendages, designated strain SM1704 T , was isolated from surface seawater collected from the South China Sea. The strain grew at 15-42 °C and with 1-10 % NaCl. It hydrolysed aesculin, but did not hydrolyse gelatin and Tween 80 nor reduce nitrate to nitrite. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain SM1704 T was affiliated with the genus Muricauda, sharing 94.1-95.9 % sequence similarities with type strains of recognized Muricauda species. The major fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, iso-C15 : 1 G and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH and the main polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, three unidentified lipids and three unidentified aminolipids. The major respiratory quinone was menaquinone-6. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain SM1704 T was 40.7 mol%. On the basis of results from polyphasic analysis of strain SM1704 T , it is considered to represent a novel species within the genus Muricauda, for which the name Muricaudananhaiensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SM1704 T (=KCTC 62797 T =MCCC 1K03557 T ).

In this study, we reported a novel yellow-pigmented, Gram-stain-negative bacterium with appendages, designated as strain L2 T , isolated from the South China Sea. Growth of strain L2 T occurred at 22-40 °C (optimum, 37 °C), pH 6.0-10.0 (pH 7.0) and with 0-8 % (w/v) NaCl (2 %). Phylogenetic analysis based on its 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that strain L2 T belonged to the genus Muricauda. The close phylogenetic neighbours of strain L2 T were Muricauda marina H19-56 T , Muricauda ruestringensis B1 T , Muricauda antarctica Ar-22 T , Muricauda taeanensis 105 T and Muricauda flavescens SW-62 T (96.4 %, 95.9 %, 95.9 %, 95.8 % and 94.5 % identities, respectively). The genomic DNA G+C content of strain L2 T was 51.3±4.6 mol%. Theg major isoprenoid quinone was MK-6 (100.0 %). The polar lipids contained phosphatidylethanolamine and two unidentified lipids. The major fatty acids (>10 % of total fatty acids) were iso-C17 : 0 3-OH (30.3 %), iso-C15 : 1 G (20.6 %) and iso-C15 : 0 (17.6 %). Phylogenetic, physiological, biochemical and morphological analysis suggested that this strain represents a novel species of genus Muricauda, and the name Muricauda iocasae sp. nov. is proposed with the type species L2 T (=CCTCC AB 2017193 T =KCTC 62196 T ).

Objectives: To investigate the distribution of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) glycoprotein B (gB) genotypes and to explore the possible relationship between gB genotypes and clinical characteristics in Chinese hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients., Methods: A prospective analysis of gB genotypes was conducted on HCMV clinical isolates obtained from 102 HSCT recipients. Real-time quantitative PCR and PCR-based restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis were applied for the determination of viral loads and gB genotypes, respectively., Results: The distribution of gB genotypes was as follows: gB1, 54/102 (52.9%); gB3, 21/102 (20.6%); and mixtures, 27/102 (26.5%). The rate of viral clearance at day 21 was higher in patients infected with the gB1 genotype than in those infected with the gB3 genotype (56 and 29%, respectively; p = 0.036). In contrast, the rate of HCMV reactivation/reinfection was higher in patients infected with the gB3 genotype than in those infected with the gB1 genotype (81 and 56%, respectively; p = 0.041)., Conclusions: The HCMV gB1 genotype is the most prevalent among Chinese HSCT recipients; patients infected with the gB3 genotype have more difficulty eradicating the virus and have a higher risk of reactivation/reinfection than those infected with the gB1 genotype., (Copyright © 2011 S. A new genus and species of Pachypleurosauria, Dianopachysaurus dingi, gen. et sp. nov., from a recently discovered Middle Triassic Lagerstatte in the Anisian Guanling Formation of Yunnan Province is described. The monophyly of Pachypleurosauria, including all potential Chinese pachypleurosaurs in this study, is supported by the rigorous cladistic analysis conducted here. Phylogenetic relationships of Chinese pachypleurosaurs are clarified. Wumengosaurus occupies the most basal position within Pachypleurosauria. Keichousaurus and Dianopachysaurus form the monophyletic Keichousauridae that is the sister group of all European pachypleurosaurs. Our cladistic analysis also supports a previously proposed paleobiogeographic hypothesis of an eastern Tethyan origin of pachypleurosaurs and their migration into the western Tethyan faunal province. The existence of a long ghost lineage as required by the paleobiogeographic hypothesis is greatly shortened by the discovery of Dianopachysaurus. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
