In this article the authors criticize the foreign policy actions and agenda of U.S. President Barack Obama, a member of the Democratic Party, and provide suggestions to the 2012 presidential nominee of the Republican Party (GOP) on how to highlight Obama's weaknesses as an international leader. The authors note various 2008 campaign promises that Obama has failed to fulfill, including developing relationships with leaders from Iran, and argue against Obama's views on American exceptionalism and U.S. nationalism. The authors recommend that the GOP nominee focus on foreign policy topics including the prevention of radical Islamic terrorism, budget cuts to the U.S. military, and relationships with Iran and North Korea.
