Relying on network technology, the integration of personalized learning and Internet technology has become another trending industry. This paper explores a new strategy for education management, that is, a personalized information push system based on recommendation algorithms. The system can push personalized learning resources for teachers and students and help them quickly locate interest points and learning directions by analyzing their usage history and tag attribute characteristics. The personalized information push algorithm achieves data fidelity by pre-cleaning or pre-processing the data. In addition, after the clustering algorithm is integrated into the system, its computing efficiency and mining depth are greatly improved than before. At the same time, based on collaborative filtering technology, this paper introduces information entropy and standard deviation to optimize the core algorithm, so as to distinguish the similarity between users, and further push recommendation accuracy and precision to a higher level. Finally, the existing problems in the current development of big data education management are analyzed, and future development strategies are proposed. To sum up, the personalized information recommendation system proposed in this study has a lower MAE value, so this has forward-looking significance for enhancing the depth of interactive learning and changing the inherent learning mode. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to explore structural drivers and barriers that distinguish US business school Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) signatories from nonsignatory peer institutions, and identify structural drivers of PRME institution strategic integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their ongoing responsible management education reports. Design/methodology/approach: This study uses a case–control method to compare the US PRME signatory sample to a size-matched random sample of US business management programs/schools. This study uses conditional inference tree and correlation analyses to highlight distinctive structural characteristics associated with US PRME signatories and with their strategies to highlight sustainability through the SDGs. Findings: There are significant and practically meaningful structural differences between US-based PRME signatories and US programs/schools that have not adopted the PRME principles. Further, PRME schools differentially integrate SDGs in their information sharing based on structural characteristics. Practical implications: Understanding school/program characteristics that align with PRME and different sustainability strategies affords a better comprehension of where targeted resources might be most effective in broadening the appeal and adoption of PRME and subsequent sustainability strategy integration. Originality/value: While previous work on PRME signatories has depended heavily on case studies of successful implementation and has examined the content of PRME activity by school, the present work compares the population of actual US signatories with a random sample of nonsignatories to determine leverage points for enacting broader PRME adoption. The study also examines the strategies that PRME schools use to integrate the UN SDGs and the structures that support such. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The expansion of research data availability and production has highlighted the need for proper training in data stewardship. Recent years have seen both incentivized and mandated research data management plans enacted by institutions and funding agencies as a way of supporting more open and integrated data-intensive research. Despite the advancement of data management as a practice and profession, those charged with maintaining and curating research data remain understudied. By investigating what and how data management is realized and who is involved, a discussion on the current educational needs, the trajectory of professions, and an assessment of potential educational needs of those entering the workforce can progress. A job analysis survey was developed to validate the tasks identified from two prior interview studies of Earth Science data managers. This survey was distributed to the Federation of Earth Science Information Partners membership and responses validate prior job analyses work as well as provide other educational consideration related to tools and necessary skills to conduct frequent job tasks. The most frequent activities and necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities of current data managers will inform future avenues of inquiry, provide context for current research, and direct research data management education. Mass shootings in schools raise important questions about how best to keep individuals safe and increase survivability in such situations. One of the most common techniques used is lockdown drills, which train individuals to build time and space between them and the threat. Despite their use in 95% of public K-12 schools nationwide, their efficacy is regularly called into question. The present two-pronged study examines the role of lockdowns both in practice (via drills) and in real-world events to answer this question. Findings indicate that continued training and drills builds and maintains skill mastery relative to correct deployment of the lockdown procedure, while the use of these tools in real-world events like mass school shootings can have a protective effect, leading to fewer injuries and deaths. Based on these findings, implications for policymakers and school administrators tasked with keeping students and staff safe are offered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The growth of non-profit organizations has led to a proliferation of non-profit management education (NME) courses across different curricula. We use survey data from a two-semester NME course with a substantive board service requirement to investigate what affects students' intent to recommend an NME course to other MBA students. Drawing 65 responses from predominantly MBA students who had completed the course between 2011 and 2018, we found that course concept understanding and skill transfer affected students' intent to recommend. Implications for practice are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To move from the gap between industry and academia, educators must review and change instructional content to meet industry demands. By addressing the industry imperative for leadership skills, this exploratory study evaluates the most prominent leadership style among faculty who implement leadership pedagogy in the classroom. The researchers surveyed hospitality management faculty through an online survey. The majority of respondents identified as transformational leaders, indicating leadership integration as highly important. The two most frequently integrated instruction methods were student-led discussions and delegation of group tasks. No significant relationship existed between methods of leadership integration and leadership style. Findings from this research contribute how educational leaders influence leadership skills and competency integration in classroom instruction. Recommendations included conducting further studies of hospitality management educators' leadership styles, enhanced statistical tests to build significant results to methods of transformation leadership in classroom instruction, and effective leadership training for hospitality management educators and administrators. Introduction: Managing postoperative pain requires an individualized approach in order to balance adequate pain control with risk of persistent opioid use and narcotic abuse associated with inappropriately outsized narcotic prescriptions. Shared decision-making has been proposed to address individual pain management needs. We report here the results of a quality improvement initiative instituting prescribing guidelines using shared decision-making and preoperative pain expectation and management education to decrease excess opioid pills after surgery and improve patient satisfaction. Methods: Pre-intervention prescribing habits were obtained by retrospective review perioperative pharmacy records for patients undergoing general surgeries in the 24 months prior to initiation of intervention. Patients scheduled to undergo General Surgery procedures were given a survey at their preoperative visit. Preoperative education was performed by the surgical team as a part of the Informed Consent process using a standardized handout and patients were asked to choose the number of narcotic pills they wished to obtain within prescribing recommendations. Postoperative surveys were administered during or after their 2-week postoperative visit. Results: 131 patients completed pre-intervention and post-intervention surveys. The average prescription size decreased from 12.29 oxycodone pills per surgery prior to institution of pathway to 6.80 pills per surgery after institution of pathway (p < 0.001). The percentage of unused pills after surgery decreased from an estimated 70.5% pre-intervention to 48.5% (p < 0.001) post-intervention. 61.1% of patients with excess pills returned or planned to return medication to the pharmacy with 16.8% of patients reporting alternative disposal of excess medication. Patient-reported satisfaction was higher with current surgery compared to prior surgeries (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Institution of procedure-specific prescribing recommendations and preoperative pain management education using shared decision-making between patient and provider decreases opioid excess burden, resulting in fewer unused narcotic pills entering the community. Furthermore, allowing patients to participate in decision-making with their provider results in increased patient satisfaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The research aims to develop a suggested proposal for applying Evidence-Based Management (EBM) in pre-university education institutions in Egypt as an approach to develop the management practices of their leaders. To achieve this aim, the theoretical framework of the research explored the theoretical foundations of the (EBM) approach and their implications on the management practices in education institutions. The research was also concerned with determining the current state of the (EBM) approach in pre-university education institutions in Egypt. Descriptive research method was used as it is appropriate to the topic of the research, which focuses mainly on exploring the nature of the (EBM) as a quite new management development approach to the field of educational management. A preliminary copy of the suggested proposal was developed and presented to a number of experts in the field of educational administration and educational planning to seek their views on it. Implementing the experts’ suggestions, a final copy of the suggested proposal was developed. It included: the proposal’s premises, goals, components, enablers to its implementation, expected obstacles to its implementation, and the mechanisms to overcome them. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study, which was part of a larger study, adopted a convergent parallel research design to ascertain attributes of school management team (SMT) members as determinants of education quality. Participants were 60 SMT members randomly sampled from the 20 participating schools. Questionnaire reliability and validation were respectively determined by Cronbach's alpha coefficient and through a pilot study. Quantitative data were descriptive statistically analysed using SPSS version 22 and qualitative data through content analysis. The study found that SMTs were aware that there were legislation mandates that guide the management of quality education but viewed schools as not utilising such mandates. SMTs also viewed schools as having clear vision and mission statements which they neither displayed nor implement. Most factors that support high-quality education were missing in schools. Participants believed that holding SMTs responsible for subpar school performance and performance measurement and monitoring were necessary prerequisites for the provision and administration of high-quality education. Recommendations included mandating SMTs to effectively manage each school's physical and human resources in accordance with legislative requirements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This paper aims to explore whether formal, non-formal, and informal learning experiences contribute to developing sustainable development competencies (SDCs) among students in a Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) signatory business school. Design/methodology/approach: An online survey based on the students' learning experiences and a questionnaire on sustainability competencies already validated in the literature were given to a sample of 274 bachelor students at a PRME signatory business school. Nominal variables representing students' categories were created to test a set of hypotheses developed according to the literature. Because the data was not normally distributed, non-parametric independent-samples Mann–Whitney U test was conducted, and descriptive statistics was used to help the analysis. Findings: The results suggest that a hybrid format with a combination of formal, non-formal and informal learning experiences is essential to maximising the development of SDCs and raising students' sustainability literacy. Research limitations/implications: This study is one of the first attempts to understand the importance of a hybrid approach in developing sustainable competencies (SDCs). Future studies could adopt longitudinal analysis to check the development of these competencies over time, assess students from different PRME signatory schools or comparing students to those in non-signatory business schools. Practical implications: This study provides insight into how business schools could address challenges in developing sustainable competencies through redirecting their educational systems by balancing formal, informal and non-formal learning approaches to educate future responsible leaders. Originality/value: This research provides evidence on how a hybrid learning approach could maximise the development of sustainable development competencies and, therefore, generating insights for educational policies. Background: High-fidelity simulations based on real-life clinical scenarios have frequently been used to improve patient care, knowledge and teamwork in the acute care setting. Still, they are seldom included in the allergy-immunology curriculum or continuous medical education. Our main goal was to assess if critical care simulations in allergy improved performance in the clinical setting. Methods: Advanced anaphylaxis scenarios were designed by a panel of emergency, intensive care unit, anesthesiology and allergy-immunology specialists and then adapted for the adult allergy clinic setting. This simulation activity included a first part in the high-fidelity simulation-training laboratory and a second at the adult allergy clinic involving actors and a high-fidelity mannequin. Participants filled out a questionnaire, and qualitative interviews were performed with staff after they had managed cases of refractory anaphylaxis. Results: Four nurses, seven allergy-immunology fellows and six allergy/immunologists underwent the simulation. Questionnaires showed a perceived improvement in aspects of crisis and anaphylaxis management. The in-situ simulation revealed gaps in the process, which were subsequently resolved. Qualitative interviews with participants revealed a more rapid and orderly response and improved confidence in their abilities and that of their colleagues to manage anaphylaxis. Conclusion: High-fidelity simulations can improve the management of anaphylaxis in the allergy clinic and team confidence. This activity was instrumental in reducing staff reluctance to perform high-risk challenges in the ambulatory setting, thus lifting a critical barrier for implementing oral immunotherapy at our adult center. The article is the result of a master's survey and has as its theme the democratic school management in public schools in the city of Manaus (AM). The objective is to analyze the process of democratic school management of municipal schools in Manaus. We used the field research, of qualitative nature using the semi-structured interview, using a recorder for data collection, in four schools that make up the structural organization of SEMED Manaus. Based on the analysis, the results indicate that there is no clear understanding of how Democratic Management has been materialized in public schools, for the interviewees this category is related to norms, disciplines and rules that should be indispensable in the school organization, leading to the need for a constant dialogue with society in order to reflect on the real meaning of democratic school management. • Urinary tract infection (UTI) was found in 14 of 145 patients (9.6%), with recurrent UTI in 11 (7.6%). A total of 93% of UTIs occurred during the first 6 months post-transplant and represented 52% of kidney transplant readmissions during the same period. A total of 64.3% of patients were older than 50 years. • The most common bacterial isolates in early recurrent UTI were Escherichia coli in 80.9%. Both extended-spectrum beta-lactamases and multidrug-resistant organisms (resistance in ?3 drugs) were seen in 82.4% of isolates. • Recurrent UTI did not affect graft function after 1 year. • Behavioral education significantly reduced the incidence of recurrent UTI. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most prevalent type of kidney transplant (KT) recipients. We aimed to investigate the incidence, causes, and clinical impact of early recurrent UTI post-living donor KT and to examine the role of behavioral education program in management. This retrospective cohort chart-review study included all KT recipients with recurrent UTI necessitating hospital admission between September 2017 and August 2021. All patients with recurrent UTI were subjected to behavioral education for a month. UTI was found in 14 of 145 patients (9.6%), with recurrent UTI in 11 (7.6%). A total of 93% of UTIs occurred during the first 6 months post-transplant and represented 52% of KT readmissions during the same period. A total of 64.3% of patients were older than 50 years. The mean (SD) length of hospital stay was 5 (2.5) days, with an equal incidence in both sexes. The most common bacterial isolates in early recurrent UTI were Escherichia coli in 80.9%. Both Extended-spectrum beta-lactamases and multidrug-resistant organisms (resistance in ≥3 drugs) were seen in 82.4% of isolates. Furthermore, the most effective antibiotic was meropenem, with 86.7% effectiveness. A total of 65% of UTIs were managed with a single antibacterial course. A total of 64.3% of patients were older than 50 years. In patients who developed UTI, the mean (SD) serum creatinine was 1.31 (0.52) mg/dL, with a mean increase in serum creatinine of 0.19 mg/dL on having the episodes; at 1 year post-transplant, serum creatinine declined to 1.23 (0.43) mg/dL. Four patients (36%) had no recurrence of UTI after behavioral education. The multidrug-resistant bacterial isolates account for 82.4% of the UTIs. Therefore, antibiotic prescription should follow the antimicrobial stewardship guidelines. Behavioral education significantly reduced the incidence of recurrent UTI. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Covid-19 pandemic has reinforced remote teaching (RT) as a trend in management education. This research reflects on the central elements that make RT a transformative learning (TL) experience, based on a case study of a TL-anchored sustainability discipline that was migrated to RL during the pandemic. Theoretically, we propose a framework or reference that combines TL, education for sustainability (EfS), and communicative ecosystem (CE) theories; we also extend the concept of RL, coining the term 'transformative remote teaching' (TRT). With regard to practice, students' feedback points to three elements that are key for TRT: exploring different windows of knowledge; rethinking the teaching role; and adapting tools to support the teaching-learning process. We conclude by highlighting the need to approach education in ways anchored in epistemological, paradigmatic, and transformative changes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ETHNOLOGY , *MANAGEMENT education , *COMMUNITIES , *SCHOOL administration - Abstract
Ethnography is a rich research tradition originating from sociocultural anthropology that aims to vividly represent cultural meaning through fieldwork and thick description. Ethnographic fieldwork is known for unearthing surprises, and ethnographers are often convinced that, had they used another approach, they would have been unable to explain fully what was going on in the research setting. Ethnography in nonprofit studies is increasing, but sparse. This article argues that introducing more tales of the nonprofit field could deepen the analysis of how nonprofit organizing works, bridge the nonprofit research–practice divide, challenge the Western ethnocentricity of nonprofit studies, bring the sector's periphery to the forefront and enhance nonprofit management education. However, to benefit from ethnographic work, the nonprofit field must embrace alternative norms of composition and rigor. The starting point is conversation and community among nonprofit ethnographers to foster such work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The ideas, rules, and laws of human education were initially based on stories, pandnoms, written monuments, and folklore, and later on, they strengthen their position as an independent science. Indeed, our ancestors paid special attention to child education from time immemorial. Imam al-Bukhari, -Isa at-Termizny, Berunny, Az-Zamakhshari, Navoi, Babur, Ogahi, great scientists, writers, virtuous people like Abdurauf Fitrat, Abdulhamid Cholpon, wrote many works on education. "The City of Virtuous People" by Faro Bey, who is considered the founder of Eastern pedagogy, "Qutadgu Bilig" by Yusuf Khos Hajib, "Mahbub ul-Qulub" by Alisher Navoi, "Nightmare" by Kaikovus, and "Futuvvatnamai Sultani" by Vaiz Koshfi are proof of this. It is known from history that Eastern pedagogy once flourished. When the German scientist Herler said, "The East is the teacher of Europe", he probably meant this period of development. The Covid-19 crisis has affected education management, and now, family members must accomplish tasks previously performed by the school. This study aims to examine it in primary education from the perspective of 638 families with children at that level. It uses a quantitative methodological approach. Results show that most families have maintained their already established work routines. However, families must now combine them with the supervision of the children's school tasks, which falls mainly to mothers, regardless of their working situation. However, a significant number of families are not attending to their children's school tasks adequately, which could lead to severe inequalities in the education field. This situation offers an opportunity to establish fairer and more balanced strategies and synergies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A trend for universities in the United States to embrace high-impact educational practices in curricula to enrich student learning experience has emerged over the last couple decades. During a curriculum revision in 2017, the faculty at Auburn University made the decision to add a stand-alone, service-learning course as a requirement for graduation. The service-learning course is centered on a construction project that serves the community and incorporates the application of various critical facets of construction management: engagement and communication with all stakeholders, planning, estimating, scheduling, and constructing the project. The research focused on perceptions of the execution and efficacy of the course from two primary stakeholder groups: students and clients. The results show the students increased their interpersonal engagement, management skills, civic responsibility, and understanding of diverse needs by the end of the semester. While clients and students noted major challenges in logistics, project planning, and scheduling, the results illustrate the effort to deliver this high-impact educational experience for the students was worthwhile and had a beneficial effect in the engaged communities. Dissemination of the results may be useful in starting a stand-alone long-term construction management service-learning course at other institutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study aims to examine the characteristics of scientific publications that address the management of higher education institution (HEI) libraries from a sustainability perspective, through a bibliometric analysis, to contribute to the development of knowledge and to identify opportunities for further research. Design/methodology/approach: The knowledge development process-constructivist instrument was used to select a portfolio of 24 articles that are scientifically acknowledged and aligned with the theme "Sustainable Management of Libraries in Higher Education Institutions" and delimited by the authors. This study, guided by a constructivist perspective, was carefully conducted to discern selections that differ from traditional definitions. The analysis followed a qualitative approach and used the following variables: fruitful authors, connection networks between authors and vision of sustainability (the degree of dimensional coverage). Findings: The analysis of the literature highlighted the partnerships of authors from countries belonging to the American continent as the most involved in research on the subject and the evolution from a one-dimensional view – centred on the environment – to a multidimensional view. Originality/value: The understanding is that library management in HEIs, from a sustainability perspective, is an essential aspect of institutional legitimacy for the stakeholders. Therefore, sustainability should be treated in a multidimensional way and integrated with the institution's values. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In Colombia, numerous methods have been implemented to measure the efficacy of secondary education institutions. The purpose of this study is to establish the efficiency of these institutions, using an innovative methodology known as Stochastic Non-Parametric Envelopment Analysis of Data (StoNED) with an output-oriented measurement. A visualization of the relationship between efficiency and the management of the education secretariats by department is proposed. Institutions are taken as decision units, based on the results of students' SABER 11 tests, considering two levels of aggregation, by institution and by department. A slight difference is found in the proportion of institutions that present technical efficiency with respect to those that do not. Moreover, it is identified that most of the institutions that do not present technical efficiency are those of an official nature, and those located in rural areas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The construction of ecological civilization and sustainable development has been paid more and more attention by China, and green education (GE) has become an important part of university education. Green development and lifestyle have become an inevitable trend. Strengthening GE for university students and helping them establish green management (GM) awareness have become important measures to implement the national strategy of "ecological priority and green development". Many Chinese universities are also actively promoting green management education (GME), and these measures of GME influence university students' awareness of GM and strengthen the action process and mechanism of their green behavior (GB), which need to be further clarified. Therefore, Chinese university students studying at schools of economic and management of agriculture and forestry universities were taken as the research objects, and based on Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), a model of the effect of GME on university students' GB is established to deeply explore the path and effect, which provides decision-making reference for universities to carry out GME in depth. E-waste management is undoubtedly one of the important environmental concerns at present because the dependence on electronic devices has increased. There have been policies, legal provisions, and advocacy undertakings educating and introducing ways to manage and properly dispose of e-waste in the region yet there is no clear understanding of these practices, particularly in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The present study evaluates the e-waste management implementation of HEIs in South Central Mindanao, Philippines using survey questionnaires and in-depth interviews with 13 HEI representatives. The surveys showed that 39% of the HEIs have an annual budget of less than PhP100,000.00 (USD 1,950). Moreover, 23% of HEIs annually purchase 10-60 units of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment. E-waste management among HEIs shows that 53.8% of ICT and electronic devices end up in landfills and 23.1% in informal sectors like junk shops. It can be noted that the yearly generation of e-waste among HEIs highly impacts the rise in the usage of IT equipment and electronic devices. Lack of awareness, e-waste disposal facilities, priorities, audit resolution and procedure and no definite legislation or laws among HEIs are the main challenges for e-waste management in the region. This study prompts mainstream e-waste management in HEIs and enlightens the public about appropriate strategies to address this issue. Furthermore, the findings of this study can be useful in formulating national and regional e-waste management plans and programs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Scientific and technological innovation is the source of the survival and development of enterprises and the key to the realization of the goal of prosperity. In recent years, more and more companies have begun to focus on technological innovation, but the results are not significant, so companies have begun to explore the factors that affect their technological innovation. The management is the helm of the development of the enterprise, the main body of the company's actual production activities, and the direct person in charge of the company's management. Its influence on the innovation of the enterprise is self-evident, and the education level of the management directly determines the manager's ability and vision. However, the current research on management mainly focuses on the position change of management and the rights of management and does not involve the level of education of management. Based on this, this article started from the management education and subdivided it with the K-means clustering algorithm, so as to explore the impact of management education on the technological innovation of enterprises. The experiment showed that there was a significant positive correlation between the educational level of management and the technological innovation ability of enterprises, and the correlation coefficient was 1.521. It fully shows that the management with a higher education background will promote the enterprise to carry out scientific and technological innovation practice and continuously improve the enterprise's innovation ability. In some remote areas and even some vocational colleges, the information management of students is still stagnant on paper. Such traditional methods have obviously lagged behind the development and needs of society. The traditional manual management is a waste of both manpower and material resources. In today's rapidly developing information age, it is very necessary to study an efficient vocational education management system. The vocational education management system designed in this paper includes Web server, DB server, college management terminal, and load balancing switch. In this system, CONN.ASP is a common module of all ASP programs in the whole system. It is mainly used to realize the connection between ASP program and database and the calling of common function submodules. In order to reduce the power consumption of the vocational education management system, the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) theory is proposed in this paper. This algorithm can effectively save the size of the storage unit and the number and frequency of reading the twiddle factor, so as to achieve the purpose of improving the operation speed. This paper randomly selected the scores of 10 classes and use the system for data processing test. A total of 50% of teachers were particularly satisfied with the tables generated by the discrete Fourier transform-based vocational education management system. They believed that the vocational education management system based on discrete Fourier transform is very fast in data processing, and the processing speed was within 0.1 s. The system designed in this paper can meet various demands in vocational education management and continuously enhance the function of educational administration management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Higher education has a major role to play in social progress, technology, and economic development. However, as the number of students enrolled in higher education increases, the quality of graduates is declining and their ability to work is being questioned. Therefore, it is very important to effectively evaluate the quality of teaching and learning. With this in mind, an evaluation approach using data mining based on wireless networks is proposed in this paper. In the educational work of universities, data mining helps to assist universities to improve management efficiency and teaching effectiveness in managing students by mining and analyzing large-scale educational data. In order to improve their teaching management, this paper uses the Apriori method among correlation rule mining methods. The algorithm is improved in terms of time efficiency, and then the improved algorithm is used to mine and analyze the impact of teachers' age, title, educational background, and student performance on teaching quality evaluation. The results of the exploration showed that, through the mining algorithm, it was found that the student's evaluation was proportional to the student's performance. For example, the average grade was excellent, and most evaluation grades were excellent. Its support level was 26% and its confidence level was 62.5%, indicating that more than half of the students met its characteristics. It also showed that the results were real, and the quality of teachers' teaching could be known through the results of students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the rapid development of modern society and the popularization of information equipment, information transmission has broken the time and space constraints, and political education (PE) can be carried out anytime and anywhere. Micro media is the product of the rapid development of science and technology, which has brought us into a new "micro era." The research on the "micro era" has been the focus of academic attention in recent years. Especially with the popularization of micro media, its influence on people is becoming deeper, making more scholars in academic circles devote themselves to the "micro era" under study. However, while micro media is widely used by college students (CS), it also brings opportunities and challenges. Therefore, it is particularly important to clarify the opportunities and challenges faced by CS' PE under the background of the "micro era" and put forward practical countermeasures. Starting from the actual situation of PE communication in the micro era, this study analyzes the opportunities and challenges brought by the "micro era" to PE of CS through a questionnaire survey. Then, the effective strategies to improve the PE of CS are explored, in order to improve the ideological and political level of CS in the micro era. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Monitoring and guiding instructional management require student performance evaluation. Traditional evaluation and analysis methods based on absolute scores, on the other hand, have certain flaws and are unable to fully reflect the information contained in student performance, thus limiting the impact of student performance evaluation on teaching and learning management. Data mining is regarded as the backbone technology for future information processing, and it introduces a new concept to the way humans use data. Schools must analyse and evaluate the performance of students in the same grade level and secondary school in a timely and staged manner. Clustering is a type of data mining that uses similarity rules to classify sample data into groups with a high degree of similarity. To address the difficulties caused by the wide variation in course difficulty in student performance evaluation, a method based on the K-means clustering algorithm is proposed. The K-means algorithm and the improved K-means algorithm with student information are investigated. The test results showed that the K-means clustering algorithm, the improved algorithm in this paper, and the fast global mean clustering algorithm all cluster the same randomly generated data set with noisy points, but the clustering time of the algorithm in this paper is only 0.04, which has obvious advantages. As a result, the clustering algorithm-based higher education management and student performance evaluation mechanism provides some insights for future research on student learning patterns. It is hoped that instructional administrators will gain a better understanding of students' learning characteristics so that they can better guide their teaching. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nonprofit management classrooms are filled with students who yearn to "do good" in the world and yet, in practice, they confront a dissonance between their vision of doing good and the realities of nonprofit work. This dissonance is in part created by contemporary nonprofit management education (NME) through the development and perpetuation of a selective historical tradition of the nonprofit sector which mythologizes the sector and its work. These traditions and myths of the nonprofit sector are based squarely in white American and Eurocentric values and downplay the histories of people of color and thus perpetuate whiteness as central to nonprofit norms and practice. We present a critical reading of these histories in an effort to help educators and students reclaim and reimagine the histories of the nonprofit sector and offer tenets of a critical pedagogy that emphasizes historical consciousness and a praxis of emancipation so that nonprofit educators and students can re-envision nonprofit theory and practice in the future. The aim of this study was to examine sleep/wake behaviour and sleep strategies before, during and after ultra-marathon running events exceeding 100 miles (161 km). A total of 119 athletes completed a web-based questionnaire regarding their habitual sleep/wake behaviour before, during, and after ultra-marathon participation. Event-specific data were grouped by race distance categories; 100–149 miles (161–240 km), 150–199 miles (241–321 km), and ≥200 miles (322 km). Athletes commonly reported not sleeping throughout the duration of their races (74%). However, for events that were ≥200 miles, athletes reported more sleep opportunities, longer sleep duration, and more total sleep when compared to events that were 100–149 miles in distance (p ≤ 0.001). This suggests that for races of shorter distances, the benefit of continuous racing outweighs the negative impact of continuous wakefulness/sleep deprivation. However, for longer races (≥200 miles), there is an apparent tradeoff between sleep deprivation and race strategy, whereby athletes cannot sustain a desired level of performance without obtaining sleep. This is consistent with established sleep/wake behaviour models suggesting that sleep need increases as wakefulness increases, or in this case, as race duration increases. For athletes participating in ultra-marathons, sleep management education and/or consultation with a sleep scientist prior to racing may be beneficial. Future research should examine the optimal strategies concerning the frequency and duration of sleep during ultra-marathons and the subsequent impact on performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
