Novel 4-(2-chloropyridin-4-yl)-N-aryl-1,3-thiazol-2-amines have been prepared by reacting (4-bromoacetyl)-2-chloropyridine with thiourea and substituted thioureas. The newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by analytical and spectral data. All the compounds have been screened for their antifungal and antibacterial activities. New 4-/5-/6-/7-nitro-N′-(4-aryl-1,3-thiazol-2-yl)-1H-indole-2-carbohydrazides (4a–t) were prepared by treating respective nitroindole thiosemicarbazide with aromatic acylbromides. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by analytical and spectral data. The compounds were also screened for antifungal and antibacterial activity. Abstract: Novel 1,5-diaryl pyrazole derivatives viz. 5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxamides (2a–e, 3, 3a–f), 2-(5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-pyrazole-3-yl)thiazoles (6a–c,7, 8, 9a–c, 10, 11) were synthesized by varying the active part (amide group) of pyrazole, characterized using IR, 1H NMR, mass spectral data and screened for their antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli (ATTC-25922), Staphylococcus aureus (ATTC-25923), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATTC-27853), Klebsiella pneumonia. Similarly all these compounds were screened for their antifungal activity against Aspergillus flavus (NCIM No. 524), Aspergillus fumigates (NCIM No. 902), Penicillium marneffei and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Interestingly all the synthesized compounds exhibited good antibacterial (except 2a–c, 8, 9a) and antifungal activity (except 2a–c, 6a, 8, 9a). [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Novel 8-chloro-6-(2-fluorophenyl)-1-(aryl)-4H-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a][1,4]benzodiazepines (5a–f) were prepared by treating 7-chloro-5-(2-fluorophenyl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzodiazepine-2-thione with various aromatic acid hydrazides. The newly prepared compounds were characterized by spectral analysis. Compounds were tested for anticonvulsant activity. Four of the tested compounds such as 5a, 5d, 5e and 5f exhibited excellent anticonvulsant activity in comparison with standard drug, diazepam. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
