Employees increasingly conduct work outside of traditional work hours via information communication technologies (ICTs). There is a need to understand how after‐hours ICT use relates to well‐being, given that such connectivity has become unavoidable. We implement an episodic, event‐contingent design to evaluate the association between different ICT media (i.e., e‐mail, phone call, chat app, short message service) and the within‐person outcomes of psychological detachment as partially mediated by task productivity. A daily diary survey was collected over three consecutive workdays to capture after‐hours ICT use. Daily surveys were completed by 498 individuals, with a total of 1494 episodes being captured of after‐hours work ICT engagement. Our results indicate that while engagement with any form of ICT after hours reduces psychological detachment, email and chat apps are associated with the lowest levels of psychological detachment. Moreover, whereas the use of asynchronous ICT has positive main effects on episode‐related task productivity, the use of synchronous ICT (e.g., phone) only enhances episode‐related task productivity when there are high organizational expectations for employees' responsiveness after hours. Purpose: Patients may have high expectations regarding dental implants based on the source of their information, which can lead to challenges in clinical communication. This study aims to evaluate the quality of responses provided by Chat Generative Pretrained Transformer (ChatGPT, OpenAI), an artificial intelligence (AI) program, to patient questions in the field of dental implantology. Materials and Methods: This study was prospectively designed as a cross-sectional study. Frequently asked questions by patients about general information on dental implantology (Part 1) and dental implant brands (Part 2) were posed to the ChatGPT program. Responses were independently assessed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons (Group 1; n = 10), periodontologists (Group 2; n = 10), prosthodontists (Group 3; n = 10), and general dentists (Group 4; n = 10) using the Global Quality Scale (GQS, scored from 1 [low quality] to 5 [high quality]). Results: There was a total of 60 questions, with 30 questions in each part. Participants in the study were evenly distributed by gender (50% female, 50% male) with a mean age of 32.6 ± 4.07 years. The mean years of experience were 8.5 ± 3.12 years. There were no significant differences in mean age, gender, and years of experience among the groups (P > .05). The overall mean GQS score was 3.87 ± 0.29. Part 1 had a mean score of 3.9 ± 0.35, and Part 2 had a mean score of 3.85 ± 0.29, with no statistically significant difference (P > .05). Conclusions: The AI platform may contribute to the additional education of patients in the field of dental implantology and aid in understanding treatment procedures. Despite the importance of a thriving workforce in sustaining organizational success, prior research pays little attention to how individualized human resource (HR) practices can help individual employees to thrive at work. Drawing on the theoretical underpinnings of conservation of resources theory, we investigate whether, how, and when development idiosyncratic deals (i‐deals) can contribute to individual thriving. We contend that possessing development i‐deals will motivate individuals to engage in approach job crafting, which in turn promotes their experience of thriving at work. We further contend that high‐quality leader–member exchange will enhance the function of development i‐deals in triggering approach job crafting and subsequent thriving experiences. Results from a two‐wave survey involving 278 managers in a pharmaceutical firm in China and a three‐wave survey among 178 managers working in various organizations in the UK support our hypotheses. Aim(s): To understand how nurses experience their positioning amidst hospital crises. Background: Nursing leadership literature is predominantly focused on the skills and competencies of nurses and less on the relations in practice with nurses. Nurses are often valued for bedside care but are overlooked in strategic decision‐making during crises. Foundational research emphasizes the need for nurses' equal participation in interprofessional healthcare practices and governance. Methods: We conducted a qualitative interpretive interview and focus group study, amidst the COVID‐19 crisis. We interviewed 64 chairs of nurse councils and deepened our understanding of our initial findings in four focus groups with 34 participants. Results: Nurses differ widely on (a) what is important to them in crisis management, (b) how they can contribute to crisis management, and (c) how they value their involvement or lack of it. Furthermore, we uncovered three relational leadership struggles for nurses concerning (1) navigating, (2) positioning, and (3) collaborating, in crisis management structures. Conclusion: The ailing positioning and representation of nurses in crisis management result from their limited participation in strategic decision‐making, and the lack of intervention on this by board members, physicians, and managers. Implications for Nursing Management: This study highlights the need for agents such as board members, managers, physicians, and nurses themselves to create clear frameworks and policies that define nurses' roles in crisis situations, emphasizing the importance of addressing power dynamics and enhancing communication and collaboration in hospital settings. Effective crisis management requires involving nurses from the start, providing regular training, and promoting a more equal approach to teamwork. Background: Hypertension (HTN) is a major global health concern, affecting approximately 1.28 billion adults worldwide. In Rwanda, hypertension contribute to 2.81 of the disability adjusted life years (DALYs) and 1.87% of hypertensive heart disease mortality. Traditional medicine remains popular in Africa with some herbal remedies which have shown antihypertensive properties. However, no study was done to explore traditional Practitioners' approach to hypertension in Rwanda. Objective: To explore the experience of traditional Practitioners while managing hypertension in Rwanda. Methodology: This qualitative study utilized an ethnographic approach to explore the experience of traditional Practitioners (TPs) while managing HTN in Rwanda. Semi- structure interviews were conducted with 20 traditional Practitioners from three districts known for their popular use of traditional medicine in Rwanda. Participants were purposively selected, and interviews were guided by a pretested semi-structured interview guide in local language. Thematic analysis was used to generate the key themes. Results: Three main themes emerged from analysis: first, traditional medicine is often undervalued by modern medical providers, resulting in limited collaboration and communication between traditional Practitioners and modern medical providers. Despite this, TPs are trusted by the community, often receiving referrals from patients dissatisfied with modern treatment. Second, TPs face challenges in diagnosing HTN due to lack of diagnostic tools, often relying on their observation, patients' description of symptoms and patient's response to treatment. TPs expressed desire for collaboration with modern medicine and access to diagnostic tools. Third, lack of legal framework and standardized practices for traditional medicine remains a challenge. Conclusion: The study highlights the need to promote collaboration between traditional and modern medicine in Rwanda. To enhance HTN management, we recommend training of traditional Practitioners, setting standardized practice and legal framework to guide traditional Practitioners in Rwanda as well as improving their access to HTN diagnostic tools. Background: Nurses play an essential role as frontline caregivers, particularly in recognizing and responding to patient deterioration. This study addresses nurses' self-leadership in the face of challenging situations such as patient deterioration, emphasizing the importance of self-leadership skills in navigating complex patient care scenarios. Delayed recognition of subtle changes in patient's conditions has been linked to adverse outcomes, necessitating a closer examination of the role of self-leadership in nursing practice. Objective: The objective of this research was to explore and understand the implications of self-leadership among nurses when confronted with challenging situations, specifically focusing on patient deterioration. Methods: A qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive research design was employed, utilizing focus group discussions (FGDs) with nurses from a private hospital in Pretoria, South Africa. Semistructured interview guide facilitated the FGDs, and data saturation was achieved after the eight sessions. The sample included nurses with various qualifications and shifts, offering diverse perspectives on self-leadership in patient care. Rigorous data collection and trustworthiness measures, including member checking and verbatim transcriptions, were employed to enhance the conformability of the study. Results: The findings revealed six overarching themes and 15 subthemes, demonstrating the interconnectedness of self-leadership and nursing practice. Themes included responsibility and autonomy, compassion and care, support and collaboration, learning from experience, teamwork, and appreciation and recognition. These themes explained how nurses actively engaged in self-observation, constructive thought patterns, and natural reward strategies to proactively address patient deterioration. Conclusion: The study underlines the significance of integrating self-leadership principles into nursing practice. Long covid (persistent COVID‐19) is a new disease with contested aetiology and variable prognosis. We report a 2‐year ethnography of UK long covid clinics. Using a preformative lens, we show that multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) built working knowledge based on shared practices, mutual trust, distributed cognition (e.g. emails, record entries), relational knowledge of what was at stake for the patient, and harnessing uncertainty to open new discursive spaces. Most long covid MDTs performed the working knowledge of 'rehabilitation', a linked set of practices oriented to ensuring that the patient understood and strove to 'correct' maladaptive physiological responses (e.g. through breathing exercises) and pursued recovery goals, supported by physiotherapists, psychologists and generalist clinicians. Some MDTs with a higher proportion of doctors (e.g. cardiologists, neurologists, immunologists) enacted the working knowledge of 'microscopic damage', seeking to elucidate and rectify long covid's underlying molecular and cellular pathology. They justified non‐standard investigations and medication in selected patients by co‐constructing an evidentiary narrative based on biological mechanisms. Working knowledge was ontologically concordant within MDTs but sometimes discordant between MDTs. Overt ontological conflict occurred mostly when patients attending 'rehabilitation' clinics invoked the working knowledge of microscopic damage that had been generated and circulated in online support communities. According to several recent studies, physicians in various medical branches have some differences in attitudes towards transgender and gender‐diverse (TGD) persons based on religious or political beliefs. Our study aims to uncover the attitudes of the general physician community in Turkey, which has a youthful profile, regarding TGD individuals. The attitudes towards transgender individuals scale (ATTI) and the general conservatism scale, along with a form that asks about socio‐demographic factors, political beliefs, and level of religion, were administered online to physicians. The ATTI score of physicians (mean = 77.8) is favourable and did not vary among branches. Being female, being close to TGD, having left‐wing views, low conservatism and low religious belief scores were associated with positive attitudes towards TGD individuals. The physician profile's moderate religious belief and left‐wing views can be interpreted as a country‐specific dynamic and did not prevent the approach from being positive. Despite physicians' positive attitude towards TGD individuals on a professional level, there is resistance to contacting them in their daily lives. This mixed-methods study explores the incidence, manifestations, and drivers of secondary traumatic stress among service providers who work with Syrian refugees in Istanbul, Turkey. A survey of 104 social workers and other providers working in 17 public and civil society agencies in Istanbul in 2018 demonstrates that 54.81% had Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale scores indicating mild to severe secondary traumatic stress. In total, 28 qualitative interviews showed manifestations and possible drivers of secondary traumatic stress including weak supervision, heavy caseloads, and insecure working conditions. In the spring of 2022, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, social work teachers and students in Lviv provided shelter support to internally displaced people. This article explores the challenges faced as well as adapting pedagogy to the crisis. An online transnational collaboration and retrospective analysis approach was employed to gather information from the teachers and students. Through a descriptive analysis, informed by Honneth's theory of recognition and service-learning model pedagogy, the results highlight the complex challenges inherent in humanitarian assistance. Objectives: Over 70% of the disease burden in Europe is the result of chronic diseases caused by lifestyle. Lifestyle counseling can improve lifestyle habits and thereby health. However, according to research, there are several barriers to healthcare personnel carrying out counseling. The aim of this study was to explore nurses' experiences of conducting lifestyle counseling. Design: A qualitative descriptive study was conducted in southern Sweden between August 2021 and December 2021. Sample: Eleven nurses were recruited from both inpatient and outpatient care in northeastern Sweden through a combination of purposive and snowball sampling. Measurements: Individual semistructured interviews were performed digitally using an interview guide. The interviews were analyzed via qualitative content analysis. Results: The nurses experienced several challenges in performing lifestyle counseling. However, knowledge gaps, sensitive topics, organizational dynamics, and time constraints were balanced using strategies. The theme of their responses can be explained by the following categories: "Collaboration with patients is key," "From self‐interest to teamwork," and "The organization can assist or hinder." Conclusions: Lifestyle counseling needs to be prioritized within healthcare. Nurses need tools and knowledge to be able to feel comfortable with the task. Introduction: Elderly people experience a high level of oral diseases, and such conditions were found to be more prevalent among those living in residential aged care facilities (RACFs). Objectives: This study explored the barriers to providing oral health (OH) care for residents living in private residential aged care facilities (RACF) in Malaysia, from the perspective of the supervisors. Methodology: This was a qualitative study, that involved face-to-face interviews with supervisors in seven private RACFs in Selangor, Malaysia. Interviews were conducted using a semi-structured open-ended questionnaire, audio-recorded for analysis, transcribed verbatim, and subjected to thematic analysis. Results: All seven supervisors agreed on a lack of any structured protocol available to residents or workers to promote OH care for residents. They reported that RACF staff received no formal training in providing OH care for residents, and noted various barriers to the provision of routine OH care, categorised into three main themes: (1) residents' factors (e.g. physical limitations, limited family involvement, uncooperative behaviour), (2) caregivers' factors (e.g. lack of knowledge on the part of caregivers, incompetent caregivers and insufficient comprehensive management in RACFs) and (3) environmental factors (e.g. less involvement from government, difficulty in accessing dental clinics, refusal of dentists to manage patients with complex medical conditions, and poor public awareness). Conclusions: The study concluded with the need for the establishment of an OH training program for RACF staff and a protocol for daily and professional OH care for the residents of private RACFs in Malaysia. Summary: This study sought to investigate the experiences and adaptations of social workers during the transition from face-to-face to online interventions amid the initial wave of COVID-19 in Israel. In-depth interviews were conducted with 27 social workers who had exclusively delivered face-to-face treatment before. Thematic analysis was employed to analyze the interviews. Findings: Data analysis revealed five primary themes concerning the transition from face-to-face face-to-face to online interventions, highlighting the challenges faced by social workers during this shift. The adjustment process was swift and often involuntary. It initiated with a shock stage, marked by difficulties in accepting the new reality due to uncertainties related to technical aspects, technological means, and social workers' attitudes toward the transition. The process concluded with social workers accepting the new reality, discovering new meanings, and gaining insights into themselves, the method, and the process. Applications: Integrating the online method into the training processes of social workers could have mitigated most challenges encountered during the transition between treatment methods. Shifts in attitudes and perceptions towards the online method result from practical experience and serve as the foundation for its application in professional work, enabling the realization of its benefits. Introduction: The shift in medical professionalism now considers the well-being of physicians, given the prevalence of burnout and the importance of work-life balance. To reconsider the question 'Why do doctors work for the patient?' and explore the meaning of working as a physician, this study adopts the concept of 'yarigai,' which represents fulfillment and motivation in meaningful work. The authors' research questions are: How do doctors recount experiences of yarigai in caring for patients? What kind of values are embodied in their stories about yarigai? Method: They adopted narrative inquiry as the methodology for this study. They interviewed 15 doctors who were recognized by their colleagues for their commitment to patient-centered care or had demonstrated yarigai in caring for patients. The semi-structured interviews were conducted face-to-face with each participant by the Japanese researchers, yielding 51 cases of patient-doctor interactions. After grouping the interview data, they translated the cases into English and identified four representative cases to present based on the set criteria. Results: From the 51 case studies, they constructed four representative narratives about the yarigai as a physician. Each of them spoke of (1) finding positive meaning in difficult situations, (2) receiving gifts embodying ikigai, (3) witnessing strength in a seemingly powerless human being, and (4) cultivating relationships that transcend temporal boundaries, as being rewarding in working as a physician. The main results of the study, which are the narratives, are described in the main body of the paper. Conclusion: The stories on yarigai gave intrinsic meanings to their occupational lives, which can be informative for students, residents, and young physicians when contemplating the meaning of their work as doctors. Rather than demanding selfless dedication from physicians towards patients, they believe it more important to foster yarigai, derived from the contribution to the well-being of others through patient care. Introduction: Since 2009, nurses have relocated to Japan from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam under the auspices of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). We asked why some migrant nurses remain in Japan whereas others leave. Method: We applied the methodology of Constructivist Grounded Theory. All participants were internationally educated nurses (IENs) currently or formerly working in Japan after passing the National Nursing Examination. Results: Difficulty in mastering the Japanese language was established as one of the main themes. Initial coding elicited two explanatory sub-categories: lack of confidence in communication and effects of language difficulty on workplace relationships. One explains how practical experience in the workplace affected nurses' confidence in communication. The other explains how levels of Japanese language attainment shaped relationships with colleagues. Introduction: Nurses are now more likely to leave their current role in direct patient care than they were before the COVID-19 pandemic. Country culture and the organization of health care systems drive nurses' decisions to leave or stay in the profession. Methods: In a fall 2020 survey of nurse professional quality of life, a content analysis of responses to the open-ended question, " What has been challenging or rewarding during this pandemic experience?" was performed. Results were organized within Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions Theory. Results: Six hundred and fifty-six nurses across five countries responded to the question; 526 comments were analyzed. Most (53.6%) respondents were staff bedside nurses. Themes, such as Distress and Fatigue and Building and Experiencing Social Capital were found and understood to reflect cultural values and dimensions such as Uncertainty Avoidance and Power Distance. Australia's National Men's Health Strategy 2020–2030 considers men from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds to be a priority population and foregrounds the importance of initiatives focused on empowerment. This article seeks to explore young working-class men's experiences with mental health in their years immediately following compulsory schooling. Drawing data from a larger study, we explore five young men who openly discussed their mental health. The analysis focuses on where they struggled, how they struggled and what self-care they enacted. Adopting a health literacy framework, we highlight two broad themes: closing yourself off and opening up. While historically working-class manhood has been centred around stoicism and a reluctance to admitting vulnerability, these case studies suggest that the identity work around masculinities and mental health may be experiencing change. Research on the experiences of transgender and nonbinary (TNB) individuals in counseling psychology is expanding, but studies focusing on their work experiences remain limited and primarily address workplace discrimination. This study aimed to develop a grounded theory on Korean TNB workers' interpersonal experiences at work, exploring not only their challenges but also their growth through workplace relationships. Using constructivist grounded theory methodology, the authors interviewed 16 Korean TNB workers from diverse professions and industries. The resulting theory demonstrates how TNB workers develop critical consciousness of gender, self, and society through significant changes in workplace social interactions and status. This heightened awareness enables TNB workers to balance their authentic selves with others' expectations and to engage in social advocacy. The study concludes with implications for strength-based counseling practices, advocacy needs, and directions for future research. Public Significance Statement: Through experiencing changes in interpersonal dynamics, social roles, and statuses at work throughout gender transition, Korean transgender and nonbinary workers gained a unique and critical consciousness of how gender operates within workplace and society. This facilitated Korean transgender and nonbinary workers to find a balance between who they want to be and others' expectations and to strive for social action in and out of the workplace. Background: The visit restrictions imposed as a result of COVID‐19 precluded the entrance of the patient's family into the confines of the intensive care unit. Aim: This study evaluated the experiences of intensive care nurses (ICNs) regarding COVID‐19 visit restrictions and their opinions on these restrictions. Study Design: From May 2023 to July 2023, semi‐structured interviews with 15 ICNs from intensive care units in a tertiary public hospital in Türkiye were conducted. Data were analysed using qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach. Reporting of the study followed the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ) checklist. Results: The analysis revealed two main themes, 'widespread negative impacts of visit restrictions' and 'adaptive strategies to the visitation ban', and seven sub‐themes supporting the main themes. Nurses perceived that the visit restrictions imposed during the COVID‐19 pandemic had a severe negative effect on patients, their relatives, themselves and the care environment. They also did not support visit restriction in future pandemics. Conclusions: The COVID‐19 visitation policy weakened the involvement of family members in patient care and created serious challenges in the intensive care setting. The study revealed an urgent need for patient‐centred, family‐sensitive and consistently applied protocols in future pandemics. Relevance to Clinical Practice: In future pandemics, strategies such as the benefit–benefit ratio of the visit, the provision and use of adequate personal protective equipment, and vaccination requirements should be considered in visiting decisions of patients hospitalized because of infection. There is a paradoxical paradigm operating in neurodiverse families with autistic children, indicating increased stress alongside enrichment of family life. An emerging body of research has shown that the use of family therapy can improve family functioning and relationships in neurodiverse families. The current study uses constructivist grounded theory to explore clinicians' experiences and perceptions of utilising family therapy in the context of autism. Study findings suggest that clinicians integrate therapeutic techniques from diverse family therapy approaches to improve family relations by bridging different ways of learning and communicating as well as facilitating multiple perspectives. Integrating therapeutic techniques across diverse approaches further encompasses working with the systems around the individual with autism. To adapt family therapy in the context of autism, it is suggested that clinicians examine their own perspectives and beliefs about autism and keep a curious stance during the process. Purpose: Children with behavioral issues in residential care settings have high rates of trauma, with a range of trauma experiences such as abuse and neglect, issues with attachment, and multiple disruptions in placements. Staff in these settings should have an understanding of trauma, its impact, and how to engage in trauma-informed practice. The purpose of this study was to examine whether a trauma-informed training, developed specifically based on the identified needs of a residential group care facility, had an impact on future staff attitudes and behaviors. Materials and methods: A 3-h training was delivered by the researchers. Three identical sessions were provided to all 48 staff, regardless of education and role, across a 3-day period. Prior to the training, staff were given a pretest survey measuring components of trauma-informed (TI) practice that indicated how often the staff members engaged in TI practice. Thirty days later, the same participants completed a posttest survey to gauge if the training had an impact on their subsequent attitudes and behavior. Results: There were improvements in many of the trauma-informed practice areas on the posttest survey. T-test analysis revealed five trauma-informed practice areas had improvements that were statistically significant from the pretest survey. Discussion: The findings present the opportunity for recommendations for trauma-informed training development and delivery, as well as providing implications for the field of social work. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the feasibility of administering a trauma-informed training program and observing relatively rapid improvements in future attitudes and behavior among staff. Background: This exploratory study aimed to enhance the understanding of practitioners' experiences within LGBTQ+ community organisations when providing interventions for LGBTQ+ individuals with intellectual disabilities. Three specific objectives were outlined: to document the situations and challenges encountered by practitioners; to identify perceived needs among LGBTQ+ individuals with intellectual disabilities and to elicit their suggestions for recommendations to improve services. Method: A qualitative approach, involving in‐depth interviews with 12 Québec‐based LGBTQ+ community practitioners, underwent content analysis. Results: Findings were organised around three themes: perceived support needs of LGBTQ+ people with intellectual disabilities; challenges experienced in intervention and recommendations to improve services. Findings reveal that practitioners frequently face significant challenges when supporting LGBTQ+ individuals with intellectual disabilities, who often struggle with multiple daily challenges and insufficient support. Conclusions: The study highlights the need to empower LGBTQ+ organisations with essential skills and foster partnerships with public service staff to ensure a more inclusive, intersectional approach. Background: Services for adults with intellectual disabilities in Hong Kong have a hierarchical staffing structure. Professional social workers, who performed as mid‐level employees, work with frontline support workers to deliver services to clients. Methods: This qualitative study explored social workers' experiences of working with support workers through in‐depth interviews with 13 participants. Findings: The study revealed that social workers perceived a significant variation between themselves and support workers in terms of working motivation, values and attitudes towards clients with intellectual disabilities. Despite the hierarchical relationships, social workers and support workers share the power of service decision‐making. Social workers used firm and gentle approaches to facilitate changes in practices to uphold service values. These findings were compared with Western literature on this topic, indicating similarities and differences. Conclusion: The organisations need to facilitate an effective collaboration between social workers and support workers to enhance the quality of services for adults with intellectual disabilities in Hong Kong. Due to demographic changes and structural developments in the healthcare system, an increasing number of patients receive home care nursing in Denmark. Little is known about the complexity of home care. The aim of this paper was to investigate the challenges that home care nurses experience in their clinical practice by studying factors related to home care nurses' experiences of encounters with patients as burdensome. A population-based survey was undertaken involving all nurses in homecare services in one municipality in Denmark. The participating nurses registered all home care contacts by the patients during the daytime for 1 week. A registration form was used including a series of items designed to identify factors related to the perceived burden of each visit. Statistical frequency analyses were used to examine factors related to the home care nurses' experiences of encounters with patients as burdensome, and to investigate the challenges that home care nurses meet in their clinical practice. Home care nurses estimated 7.6% of 941 representative homecare visits as burdensome. Assessment of burden was associated with patients being below 60 years of age, time consumption and unexpected problems during the visit, especially of a psychosocial nature. Even though <10% of the encounters were considered burdensome, there is reason to believe that an increase can be expected due to ongoing emphasis on achieving greater efficiency in the healthcare system. Aim: To describe the current state of the literature on nurses' and midwives' knowledge, perceptions and experiences of managing parental postnatal depression (PPND). Design: The Joanna Briggs Institute scoping review method and the PRISMA extension for Scoping Reviews guided the work. Data Sources: A systematic search of PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, MEDLINE, PsycINFO and Scopus databases was conducted in January and February 2023. Review Methods: Peer‐reviewed primary research articles published in English between 2012 and 2023 that involved nurses or midwives managing PPND were included. Rayyan was used to screen titles, abstracts and full‐text articles. A spreadsheet was used to organize extracted data and synthesize results. Results: Twenty‐nine articles met the inclusion criteria. Most study samples were of mothers, and few were from middle‐ and lower‐income countries. Nurses and midwives lacked knowledge about PPND, yet they felt responsible for its management. Nurses and midwives faced significant organizational and systems‐level challenges in managing PPND. However, nurses and midwives facilitated PPND care in collaboration with other healthcare providers. Conclusion: The review highlights significant gaps in the nurses' and midwives' care of PPND. Educational programmes are necessary to increase nurse and midwife knowledge of PPND and strategies for its management, including facilitating collaboration across the healthcare system and eliminating organizational and systemic‐related barriers. Additional focused research is needed on nurses' and midwives' knowledge, perception of and experience with PPND beyond mothers, such as with fathers, sexually and gender‐minoritized parents and surrogate mothers. Finally, additional research is needed in middle‐ and lower‐income countries where nurses and midwives may face a higher burden of and unique cultural considerations in managing PPND. Impact: PPND can affect the parent's mental and physical health and relationship with their child. If left untreated, PPND can lead to long‐term consequences, including child developmental delays, behavioural problems and difficulties with parental–child attachment. Background: There is increased interest in implementing structured clinical handover frameworks to improve clinical handover processes. Research postulates that structured clinical handover frameworks increase the quality of handovers; yet inconsistencies enacting these frameworks exist which has a potential to jeopardise the quality of communication during handovers thereby defeating the purpose of these frameworks. Aim: This scoping review aims to analyse and synthesise what is currently known of the nurses' experiences and perceptions in implementing structured clinical handover frameworks and identify knowledge gaps in relation to this topic area. Design: A scoping review guided by the PRISMA‐ScR checklist. Methods: A systematic search of five electronic databases was undertaken to identify peer‐reviewed primary research studies which met the predetermined eligibility criteria. In total, 301 studies were imported into COVIDENCE, screened and assessed for eligibility resulting in 23 studies remaining. From the eligible studies, data was extracted, collated, appraised, summarised and interpreted. Data Sources: MEDLINE, CINHAL, ProQuest, EMCARE, Web of Science and Informit. Results: Twenty three studies were included in this review which yielded the following major themes: (1) quality and completeness of information transfer; (2) interprofessional collaboration; (3) challenges impacting the experience of implementing the structured clinical handover frameworks and (4) perceived impacts on quality, patient safety and health outcomes. Conclusion: There are key benefits and issues experienced and perceived by nurses implementing structured clinical handover frameworks and this review identifies opportunities for further improvements. Future research should explore the perceived associations with patient outcomes. Understanding more about the discharge of care orders is vital—whether a care order remains in place has significant implications for children and their families and for local authorities. While there has been comprehensive research about the process and outcomes of care proceedings, much less is known about the discharge of care orders—particularly how, why and when care orders are ended and the differences between applications that are granted and those that are not. The present study combined data from an anonymized administrative data on discharge applications, a detailed analysis of children's e‐records and qualitative interviews with family justice professionals to create the first detailed profile of discharge applications across England and Wales. This paper reports, for the first time, the number of discharge applications and outcomes across England and Wales, highlighting regional as well as between‐country variation. Drawing on data from children's e‐records and interviews with professionals, highlighting how and why local authorities are more likely to submit discharge applications, and to have applications granted, than parents. Previous studies suggest a widespread notion among social workers that children should be involved in child protection processes. Nevertheless, children are found to be unsatisfied with the degree to which they feel involved and heard in those processes. This study explored social workers' reasons to exclude children from conversations about contact visits. It applied a social constructivist approach, in which the dominant understandings of children—'child constructions'—in the social workers' responses were identified and then used to discuss the concepts of 'participation' and 'conversation'. Findings reveal that social workers' reasons to exclude children from conversations about contact visits align with prevailing notions of children as rights holders, as vulnerable and as mentally immature. This study suggests that broadening the concept of conversations could provide social workers with the latitude to explore innovative approaches to conversing with children. Prescribing lifestyle behavior change is a recommended strategy for both primary and secondary prevention of disease. Programs that support and encourage lifestyle behavior change are available to patients but are underutilized. The purpose of this study was to understand primary care providers (PCPs) experiences and barriers they experience with referring patients to lifestyle behavior change programs at one academic health care system. In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with 7 academic PCPs between November 2020 and January 2021. Qualitative analysis identified major themes. Four themes emerged: (1) guideline awareness and adherence, (2) barriers to lifestyle behavior change recommendations, (3) provider role with respect to lifestyle behavior change recommendations, and (4) suggestions to improve utilization of behavior change support. Specific strategies for improvement include revising referral process, educating providers about programs already offered, integrating a team-based approach, and systemizing healthy lifestyle behaviors interventions. The lessons identified through this study highlight the need for systematic prioritization of lifestyle behavior change to decrease certain barriers that providers face when attempting to integrate lifestyle change consistently into their practice. Background: Although nurses are the primary clinicians in telemedicine intensive care units (tele-ICUs), their experiences remain underresearched. Objective: To describe and interpret the lived experiences of tele-ICU nurses. Methods: A qualitative, hermeneutical, phenomenological approach based on van Manen's methodology was used to collect and interpret interview data. In-depth interviews were conducted with 11 tele-ICU nurses affiliated with a health system in the northeastern United States. The interviews were intended to elicit direct reports of specific incidents to capture the phenomenological experience. Field observations of the practice setting were conducted to enhance data richness. Results: The participants were primarily female, aged 34 to 67 years, with 11 to 45 years of nursing experience. The following 4 major themes and 12 subthemes were identified: (1) watching intensively and panoptically, with subthemes (a) affirming unremitting diligence, (b) uncovering virtual knowing, and (c) easing perceptions of intrusion; (2) transcending complex boundaries, with subthemes (a) building trustful collaboration, (b) discerning vigilant interventions, and (c) exercising skillful investigation; (3) transforming nursing practice, with subthemes (a) mastering tact, (b) delineating the critical wholeness, and (c) augmenting safety and quality of care; and (4) developing an e-identity, with subthemes (a) tempering feelings of working in shadows, (b) evolving to the enhanced specialist role, and (c) achieving professional gratification. Conclusions: Tele-ICU nurses play a transformative role in nursing practice. These findings have implications for nursing practice, education, health policy, enhancement of the current American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) Tele-ICU Nursing Practice Model, and future research on ICU telemedicine. Objective: Persons experiencing homelessness (PEH) are among the most vulnerable populations and experience significant health disparities. Nationally, PEH utilize Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at disproportionately higher rates than their housed peers. Developing optimal strategies to care for PEH has become critically important. However, limited data exists on best practices, challenges, and experiences of providing care to PEH. The objective of this study was to describe the experiences, challenges and perspectives of operational EMS agency medical directors in Los Angeles (LA) County as they confront the homelessness crisis. Methods: We performed a cross-sectional survey of 9-1-1 operational EMS agency medical directors in LA County, which has one of the largest populations of PEH nationally. Twenty-nine 9-1-1 operational EMS agencies operate in LA County. The link to an anonymous, web-based survey examining documentation, training, resources, operational impact, and care challenges was emailed to medical directors with three reminders during the study period (4/19/2023-9/15/2023). Results: Three quarters (75.9%; 22/29) of operational EMS agencies responded to the survey, with all questions answered in 69% (20/29) of surveys. Of these, 68.2% (15/22) of agencies document housing status and 75% (15/20) agreed or strongly agreed that homelessness presents operational challenges. No operational EMS agency reported adequate EMS clinician training on homelessness. Operational EMS agencies most commonly utilized domestic violence resources (43%, 9/21), social services (38%, 8/21), and law enforcement (38%, 8/21) services to assist PEH. Referrals were limited by accessibility (86%, 18/21), time (52%, 11/21), lack of awareness (52% 11/21) and lack of mandates (52%, 11/21). All operational EMS agencies agreed or strongly agreed that mental health and substance use disorders are major issues for PEH. The most common daily challenges reported were mental health (55%, 11/20), substance use (55%, 11/20), and patient resistance (35%, 7/20). Conclusion: In LA County, EMS agencies experience important operational and clinical challenges in caring for PEH, with limited resources, minimal training, and high rates of substance use disorders and mental health comorbidities. Further prehospital research is essential to standardize documentation of housing status, to identify areas for intervention, increase linkage to services, and define best practices. BACKGROUND: COVID-19 pandemic had disrupted the teaching in most of the educational institutes worldwide. It has tested the readiness of educational institutes in their ability to deal with crisis. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine the perception of health sciences faculty toward online education during the period of pandemic in Pakistan. METHODS: This cross-sectional research determined the perception using online survey which had been taken from the study conducted by Almahasees et al. Questions related to faculty's perception regarding IT skills, online classes taking more effort than on-campus learning, online platforms having adequate tools to facilitate teaching. Data was analyzed using SPSS. Statistical tests comprised of descriptive statistics and Kruskal-Walli's test. RESULTS: From a total of 318 participants, there were 234 females and 84 males. A statistically significant association was identified between field of specialization and competency to teach online (p = 0.022). Faculty stated that more efforts were required to teach online (p < 0.001). Most of the tutors reported virtual sessions helped improved the interaction with their students (p < 0.001). Most of the time faculty had to prompt students to complete their assignments on time (p < 0.001). Many of the faculty members disagreed that delivering virtual sessions from home was quite ineffective (p = 0.221) and reported experiencing distractions (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: This study showed that online learning proved less effective than face-to-face learning. The main drawback of distance learning was the lack of teacher-student interaction. Online learning promotes student-centered learning and could be applied in situations of crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Improving acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine among nursing students is an important strategy for both preventing infection and building public confidence in the vaccine. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to describe the views of intern nursing students on the COVID-19 vaccine and to evaluate their experiences in the COVID-19 vaccination unit. METHODS: This was a phenomenological qualitative study with a descriptive design. The 46 intern nursing students included in this study were all trained in the COVID-19 vaccination unit. The data was collected at focus group interviews conducted during June 2021 and October 2021. RESULTS: The mean age of intern nursing students was 22.78±0.91. From the focus group interviews, two themes were identified regarding the views of intern nursing students on the COVID-19 vaccine and their experiences in the COVID-19 vaccination unit: Theme 1. Positive views; Theme 2. Negative views. Intern nursing students described that they trust the COVID-19 vaccine and believe in its protection. Intern nursing students who performed their clinical practices in COVID-19 vaccination unit stated that they realized their responsibilities toward patients and the community. CONCLUSIONS: From the INSs' point of view, confidence in the vaccine, responsibility towards patients, their families and the community, and VU practice experience, the health risk associated with COVID-19 positively affected their decision to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The participation of intern nursing students in clinical practice during the pandemic influenced both intern nursing students and population in terms of the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines. Worldwide, 50 million people are living with dementia. As more individuals develop dementia while still working, dementia will increasingly become a workplace issue and a societal concern. Interventions targeted at work retainment, can reduce, and postpone the loss of cognitive functioning following dementia. However, there is a small body of research focused on recommendations for work interventions for people with dementia. The aim of this mixed-methods review was to investigate experiences of work following a dementia diagnosis from the perspective of people with dementia, their relatives, employers, co-workers and HR-professionals, with the objective of formulating recommendations for work interventions for people with dementia. A mixed-method approach guided the review. 16 original studies published between 1989 to 2023 were included, with a collective sample of 684 participants. The review shows that it is possible to live and work well with dementia, if collaborative solutions are continuously negotiated to meet the needs of the person with dementia and the workplace, and with attention to possible contextual enablers and barriers. The review highlights four key elements for successful work interventions for people with dementia: 1) Person-centered Approach, 2) Contextual Relevance, 3) Knowledge-based and 4) Dynamic Approach. The entry into professional life is a critical stage in the professional identity development of social workers; it is a particularly sensitive milestone for Arab novice social workers in Israel. Novice social workers must deal with the gap between the universal, predominantly individualistic social work approaches taught in Israeli educational establishments, and the collectivistic values, which they encounter in social work practice within the Arab community. In addition, they encounter the practical and culturally-sensitive knowledge of experienced social workers in welfare offices in Israel. This gap is intensified due to novice workers' unresolved identity conflict as members of an indigenous minority, experienced during and since their academic socialization. Despite these critical issues, the challenge has rarely received scholarly attention. This article presents findings from a qualitative study that has examined the conflicting experiences of Arab novice social workers Vis-à-vis their professional identity development and incorporation into Israeli welfare bureaus. It is based on thirty in-depth retrospective interviews with Arab social workers with at least ten years of experience in the field of family and child welfare. Findings are analyzed from a critical multicultural perspective on social work. They show that integration of Arab novice social workers into the Israeli welfare offices is characterized by ongoing tensions and inner conflicts. Findings raise awareness of the need to implement critical multicultural programs in social work education which emphasize cultural sensitivity in order to support Arab novice social worker's professional identity formation and incorporation into social work practice in the Israeli welfare bureaus. Aim: To compare newly graduated nurse retention and employment experiences across two distinct graduate nurse programs through periods of health care delivery stability and instability. Background: A global nursing workforce shortage, coupled with increasing demands on health services, requires a specific focus on building capability and improved retention of nurses. The graduate nurse cohort is a critical supply source that potentially can be harnessed if their needs are better understood. Design: A longitudinal (2015–2023) cross-sectional design was used to examine retention and experiences of newly graduated nurses from two ('traditional, unit-based' versus 'mobile') supported programs. Methods: Retention rates were obtained through analysis of employment databases. Descriptive data on impressions and experiences was collected at two time points via a short series of questions contained in a survey, from graduate nurses who remained in employment. Results: Retention rates for graduate nurses were high (85%) during periods of stability, but even higher for the 'mobile' graduate nurse program. Both programs were adversely affected by instability however, the impact was substantial (around 50%) for the peak period of instability (2020) in the 'mobile' program. Survey data indicated that during the period of instability graduate nurses in traditional, unit-based programs had a more positive experience when compared with graduate nurses participating in the 'mobile' program; This contrasts with the period of stability, where graduate nurses in the 'mobile' program indicated more positive responses. Discussion: Findings re-emphasise the importance of supportive structures for newly graduated nurses as effective in retaining these staff. However, for the first time, evidence is provided that 'mobility', diversity, and difference can be viewed positively by graduate nurses. Furthermore, it provides improved understanding about mechanisms, support and boundaries, all interrelating factors, in 'stretching' capacity of graduate nurses. Conclusion: Longitudinal analysis of graduate nurses, participating in two diverse programs, through periods of stability and instability offers insights into their challenges and outcomes. These insights can directly inform targeted strategies for inclusion in supported programs that lead to improved graduate nurse retention and contribute to building an agile nursing workforce. Background: The opening up of the laws to medicinal cannabis in recent years is a key factor in the growth of this therapy, but there is little information about what nurses know and think about it. The present paper seeks to analyze the knowledge, opinions, and experiences of nurses and nursing students in Portugal regarding the use of cannabis and to understand gender differences. Methods: A self-completion questionnaire was drawn up and published online. It received face and content validity and was approved by the Ethics Committee. The instrument includes socio-demographic data, questions about knowledge, opinions, experiences, and training in cannabis. The data was collected and processed by applying descriptive and inferential statistics using the chi-square test and Fisher's exact test on the SPSS platform. Results: The majority of the 610 participants were women. The therapeutic benefits of medical cannabis were appreciated by 79,6% of nurses and 84,3% of students. When asked about the functions of the endocannabinoid system, 71,7% of nurses and 79,5% of students had never heard of it. There is a statistically significant gender difference concerning personal experience of cannabis use to treat symptoms or illnesses. Conclusions: As the levels of knowledge were low and a minority had education on medical cannabis, there is a need for further education of nurses and for this emerging area to be included in the curricula. Objectives: To describe the essential competencies required for patient engagement in their own safety. Method: We adopted a phenomenological approach in qualitative research to conduct semi-structured interviews with nurses (n = 14) and adult patients (n = 13) from different departments. By deeply exploring their experiences and feelings about patient engagement in patient safety, we sought to understand their views on the qualities that patients need to possess in order to participate in their own safety. Results: From the interviews, we identified six major themes, including competence of information sharing, competence of taking patient engagement as responsibility and right, competence of making equal communication, competence of maintaining trust relationship with health personnels, competence of accepting non-punitive safety culture, need of resource support, five of them showed essential competences for patients and one of them showed patients' need for promoting their engagement. Conclusion: The findings of this study show necessary competence and needs in patient engagement process of patient, offer a foundational reference for constructing a measurement tool for patient engagement in patient safety competence in the future, so that medical staff and patients can provide reference for the future targeted construction of patient competence improvement programs. At the same time, improving patient competence and engagement to better achieve safety goals requires the joint efforts of patients, medical staff, medical institutions, the government, and society. Background and objectives: The growing number of terminally ill patients has underscored the importance of equipping healthcare workers with adequate palliative care knowledge and self-efficacy. This study aimed to compare the palliative care knowledge and self-efficacy of nurses in intensive care units (ICUs) with those in general wards at hospitals affiliated with Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2023. Methods: This descriptive-comparative cross-sectional study involved nurses from intensive care units and general wards of three hospitals affiliated with Kerman University of Medical Sciences, for a total sample size of 300 nurses (150 in each group). The samples were selected using convenience sampling. The data collection tools included a demographic information questionnaire, the Palliative Care Knowledge Test (PCKT), and the Palliative Care Self-Efficacy Scale (PCSES). Convenience Sampling method was used. The data were analyzed using SPSS 23. Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (independent t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and multivariate stepwise regression) were employed. Statistical significance was determined by a p-value of ≤ 0.05. Findings: The mean score for palliative care knowledge was 10.59 (± 2.10) for nurses in intensive care units and 10.43 (± 2.33) for nurses in general wards, with no significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.53). Similarly, the mean score for palliative care self-efficacy was 28.01 (± 10.29) for nurses in intensive care units and 27.98 (± 10.33) for nurses in general wards, with no significant difference between the groups (P = 0.98). Variables such as the history of caring for dying patients in the hospital (P = 0.004) or at home (P = 0.01), workplace (P = 0.002), and work experience (P = 0.03) were identified as the main predictors of palliative care knowledge and palliative care self-efficacy was affected by age (P < 0.001), history of participation in palliative care training courses (P = 0.008), and palliative care knowledge score (P = 0.01). Discussion and conclusion: This study revealed no significant difference in total scores of palliative care knowledge or self-efficacy between nurses in intensive care units and general wards It is suggested that more efforts be made to increase the knowledge and self-efficacy of all nurses, especially nurses in ICU departments, till providing a standard palliative care setting. Background: At least 10% of Covid-19 recovered individuals experience persistent symptoms (Long Covid). Primary healthcare and general practitioners (GPs) are at the forefront in their care. In this study, GPs' knowledge, perceptions and experiences with Long Covid, and the definition used in two countries, are investigated to provide insight into GPs' care for Long Covid patients at a cross-country level. Methods: A cross-sectional study targeted towards GPs was conducted in Belgium and Malta during spring and early summer 2022. An online survey consisting of 15 questions on Long Covid was disseminated. Additionally, country-specific practice and demographic characteristics were collected. Descriptive and logistic regression analyses were performed. Results: A total of 150 GPs (Belgium = 105; Malta = 45) responded. Female GPs represented 58.0%, median age was 49 years (IQR: 37–61). Concerning GPs' knowledge and perception on Long Covid, in both countries, most GPs reported insufficient scientific knowledge and information on Long Covid diagnosis and treatment. Access to educational material was limited and an awareness-rising campaign on Long Covid was deemed necessary. Moreover, two out of three GPs stated that Long Covid patients were not well followed up by primary healthcare in mid-2022. For diagnosing Long Covid, 54.7% required a positive Covid-19 test, more often among Belgian GPs than Maltese (64.3% vs. 45.2%, p = 0.036). To assess Long Covid, GPs mainly applied diagnostic criteria by themselves (47.3%) in combination with persistent symptoms (4 weeks to 5 months). Most GPs had experience with Long Covid patients in their practice, regardless of practice type and GPs' country, sex or age (p = 0.353; p = 0.241; p = 0.194; p = 0.058). Although most GPs (94.7%) stated that Long Covid patients should follow multidisciplinary approach, 48.3% reported providing care for these patients themselves or with GP colleagues and only 29.8% by multidisciplinary cooperation. Conclusions: GPs frequently provide (multidisciplinary) care to Long Covid patients and GPs' care showed similarities at cross-country level. Although GPs perceive lack of scientific knowledge and educational material on Long Covid, similar diagnostic criteria among GPs were noted. Uniform evidence-based guidelines, scientific support and training for GP across Europe must be a priority to enhance their treatment approach to Long Covid. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Even though human rights advocacy is a part of mental health care, psychiatric nurses in South Africa's primary healthcare (PHC) setting face substantial challenges when advocating for the rights of mental health care users (MHCUs). The study aimed to develop a conceptual framework to facilitate psychiatric nurses' advocacy for mental healthcare users' human rights in a PHC setting. Methods: A qualitative, exploratory, descriptive, and contextual design was used to investigate the psychiatric nurses' experiences advocating for MHCUs' human rights in a PHC setting. Three phases were followed: the empirical phase, the classification of concepts, and a development phase. Following the empirical phase, a conceptual framework was developed to facilitate psychiatric nurses' advocacy for MHCUs human rights in a PHC setting. Results: Three themes were derived from focus group interviews with psychiatric nurses in the empirical phase. These themes yielded the central concept as 'the facilitation of empowerment' of psychiatric nurses in advocating for MHCUs' human rights. The central concepts were also classified. A conceptual framework was developed that included the relationship, working and termination phases. Conclusion: The study described the development of a conceptual framework to facilitate psychiatric nurses' advocacy for mental healthcare users' human rights in a PHC setting. Psychiatric nurses play a key role in advocating for the human rights of MHCUs. This task is important and should be implemented from the government to the societal level, including all stakeholders. Background/Objectives: Empathy and emotional regulation (susceptibility and resistance) play an important role in a nurse's well-being and the provision of high-quality care. This phenomenon has not yet been studied in the context of nurses working in neuroscience. This study aimed to explore the perceptions related to empathy among nurses working in neuroscience contexts. Methods: Employing a mixed-methods approach, we conducted an online quantitative survey with 211 nurses working in various neuroscience settings using the Balanced Emotional Empathy Scale (BEES) and 15 online semistructured qualitative interviews to delve deeper into empathetic experiences. The mean and measures of dispersion, such as standard deviation, were used to analyze the quantitative data. Thematic analysis investigated qualitative data, and data triangulation was performed. Results: The quantitative findings revealed no significant differences in empathy or emotional regulation across the different neuroscience settings but highlighted an increase in susceptibility related to young age (under 29) and years of service (first 5 years). The interviews brought to light the challenges nurses face in highly emotional situations and the strategies they employ to manage empathy and maintain professional detachment, such as self-care strategies, awareness development, and team support. One hindering factor is managers. Conclusions: The findings of this study underscore the essential role of empathetic capability in nursing care in neuroscience. The experience of younger nurses and the first 5 years of employment are elements to be considered by managers for burnout risk. Nurses demonstrate susceptibility and resistance and maintain a balance in dealing with high-emotional-stress situations. Work disparities, such as unfairness in pay or unequal distribution of work experienced by nurses in long-term care (LTC), can impact the retention and health of this workforce. Background: Despite the significant impact of disparities on nurses' health in LTC, a literature review on work disparities of nurses in LTC has not been conducted. Method: This scoping review aimed to explore the nature and extent of research on meso-level work disparities experienced by nurses in LTC and its links with nurse health and well-being. Five databases were searched: MEDLINE (Ovid), EMBASE (Ovid), PsycINFO (Ovid), SCOPUS, and CINAHL (EBSCO host). Results: Of the 5652 articles retrieved, 16 studies (14 quantitative and 2 qualitative) published between 1997 and 2024 met the inclusion criteria. A total of 53 work disparities were identified. Only four articles investigated the association of a work disparity with a variable of health (e.g., physical, mental, or poor general health). Conclusions: The results suggest that more attention to how disparities impact nurses' health and lived experiences is warranted. Meso-level disparities from this review provide an initial basis to consider possibilities in the workplace, especially in supporting equity and opportunities for health and well-being at work (e.g., through fair access to professional growth opportunities and a more equitable balance of work expectations and demands of nursing staff). Future studies of the intersection of macro- and meso-level factors are needed to inform better workplace practices and social and economic policies to support the well-being, health, and safety of nurses at work in LTC. Background: Nurses form the frontline of the healthcare system's response to both epidemics and pandemics, and this was especially the case during the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Although the influence of COVID-19 on nursing roles has attracted interest, there is no integrated knowledge of nurses' roles and experiences in primary health care settings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, this study identifies the roles and experiences of nurses in primary health care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A scoping review study design and the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology were used. The study searched five electronic databases (PubMed, CINAHL, EMBASE, Scopus, and PsychINFO) and included studies published in English from March 2020 to June 2023 that focused on the roles and experiences of nurses (participants) during COVID-19 (concept) in primary health care settings (context). Results: Fourteen articles were selected for review, involving a total of 1,487 nurses as study participants. The various roles undertaken by nurses in primary health care settings were categorized as comprehensive care providers, supporters and empowerers, coordinators and collaborators, information navigators, and change agents. Challenges and strategies are multilevel intrapersonal, interpersonal, organizational, community, and societal issues, but are not mutually exclusive. Conclusions: The pandemic-induced challenges revealed primary health care nurses' vital and indispensable roles and resilience. They also fostered a heightened awareness of technological influence on the progression of primary health care in the current milieu. Policymakers and healthcare organizations need to integrate primary health care nurses' expanding and emerging roles within the scope of practice, ensuring their effective implementation without excessive regulatory constraints. This study emphasizes the importance of developing multilevel interventions to address the support needs of primary health care nurses through a system-based approach. Building a strong infrastructure to support nurses' self-care, offering continuing professional development opportunities, and securing official government recognition will be essential for enhancing the resilience of primary healthcare nurses in preparation for future, potentially devastating pandemics. Background: The enhancement of nurses' disaster literacy is crucial for effective disaster emergency management, especially for clinical nurses with no prior experience in disaster rescue. This study aims to explore the perspectives of nurses who have been involved in disaster rescue operations on strategies to advance nurses' disaster literacy. Methods: A qualitative descriptive study, which follows unified qualitative study reporting guidelines. Thirty disaster rescue nurses were recruited to participate in this study, who came from 30 third-class hospitals in China. From October to December 2021, information was acquired by conducting semi-structured telephone interviews with participants. Qualitative content analysis was used to examine the data. Results: Six categories and eleven subcategories were created. Strengthening disaster education and training was the main focus, and its subcategories included continuing education, nursing curriculum development, and disaster rescue experience guide. The second focus, which included scene simulation, actual combat/military simulation, and virtual reality simulation, was strengthening disaster simulation and drill. The third focus was on providing psychosocial support, which included improving self-psychological adjustment, developing resilience, and engaging in active coping. The fourth category was to strengthen nurse/hospital managers roles and leadership, which included enhancing professional identity and policies/leadership support. The fifth category was disaster preparedness, and the sixth was enhancing knowledge transformation. Conclusions: Government agencies or healthcare organizations should actively promote the formation of nurses' disaster literacy from multiple viewpoints. Background: Patient safety incidents are unavoidable and nurses, as parties involved, become second victims due to the incident itself and the way it is handled. In China, reconstructing the course of events is a crucial step in the aftermath of the incident; however, its impact on the emotional well-being of the second victim remains unclear. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to gain insight into the psychological experiences and current conditions of nurses who act as second victims during the process of reconstructing the sequence of events. Additionally, the study aims to provide justifications for supporting these individuals. Methods: An exploratory mixed research method was adopted to understand the emotional experience of the second victim when reconstructing the passage of the incident through qualitative research. Fourteen nurses with experience as second victims were selected for semi-structured interviews using purposive sampling according to the maximum difference sampling strategy. Through quantitative research, we explored the negative psychology and support needs of the second victims when they reverted to the incident, and a self-developed questionnaire (the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.895) was used to survey 3,394 nurses with experiences as second victims in 11 tertiary hospitals in Shanxi Province. Results: In the qualitative part of the study, the emotional experience of the second victim's reconstruction of the course of events after a patient safety incident could be categorized into 3 themes: negative views as initial psychological impact, avoidance as part of psychological impact, and expectations and growth in overcoming negative psychological impact. The quantitative part of the study revealed that the emotions of guilt and self-blame accounted for the highest percentage after a patient safety incident. The second victim presented a high score of 39.58 ± 5.45 for support requirements. Conclusion: This study provides a better understanding of the true emotional experiences and the need for support of the second victim in the process of reconstructing the course of events. Following a patient safety incident, nursing administrators and healthcare institutions should consider the adverse psychological effects on the second victim, prioritize their support needs during the incident's reconstruction, create a positive safety culture, and reduce the risk of secondary victimization for these individuals.
