Objectives: To compare aetiology, microbiological isolates and antibiotic susceptibilities of endophthalmitis between children and adults., Design: Retrospective observational study., Participants: Patients admitted to Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center between January 2013 and December 2019 with clinically diagnosed endophthalmitis were included., Outcome Measures: The aetiology, microbiological isolates and antibiotic susceptibilities of endophthalmitis were analysed., Results: Of 1803 patients, 430 (23.8%) were aged ≤16 years. In both children and adults, the main aetiology was trauma (85.6% vs 64.7%, p<0.05). Streptococcus species (spp.) (28.8%) were most prevalent in paediatric post-traumatic endophthalmitis; whereas, coagulase-negative staphylococci (36.9%) were dominant in adults. In postoperative endophthalmitis, all children had bacterial infections, while fungal infections accounted for 12.5% in adults. In endogenous endophthalmitis caused by fungi, Candida was most prevalent in adults (26.9%); whereas, all causative fungi involved filamentous fungi in children. Isolated bacteria in children presented a higher susceptibility in 7 of 11 antibiotics compared with those in adults. Levofloxacin had the highest susceptibility rate in children (97.9%), and ofloxacin had the highest susceptibility rate in adults (90.6%)., Conclusion: The main aetiology was trauma, with a higher proportion in children than in adults. The microbial profile of paediatric endophthalmitis was different from those of adults. Purpose: To investigate the clinical features of endogenous Klebsiella pneumoniae endophthalmitis (EKPE) and the molecular characteristics of pathogenic K. pneumoniae ., Methods: A retrospective study was conducted between January 2014 and January 2021. Clinical data were extracted. K. pneumoniae isolates cultured from EKPE patients' specimens were characterized by antimicrobial susceptibility testing, multilocus sequence typing, capsular serotyping, and virulence gene profiles. Virulence phenotypes were confirmed by mouse lethality assay., Results: Thirty-nine patients (47 eyes) were diagnosed with EKPE. Administration of systemic antibiotics and eye treatment within 24 hours of ocular symptom onset was statistically associated with better visual outcomes ( p = .007). Sixteen K. pneumoniae isolates were collected, three of which were carbapenem-resistant and avirulent. Only salmochelin encoding gene was harbored by all isolates., Conclusions: Systemic and eye treatment administered within 24 hours from the onset improves visual prognosis. Besides hypervirulent strains, avirulent carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae can cause EKPE.

Purpose: To investigate the etiology, pathogens, treatment, and prognosis of endogenous endophthalmitis (EE)., Methods: Patients diagnosed with EE over three decades at Peking Union Medical College Hospital were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed., Results: A total of 97 eyes from 81 patients were included. Diabetes was the most common predisposing medical condition (34.6%). Klebsiella pneumoniae (31.3%) and Candida albicans (32.8%) were the most common pathogens. Liver abscess (20.6%) was the predominant cause EE due to liver abscess had a worse initial visual acuity ( P  < 0.05). Patients who initially underwent pars plana vitrectomy (PPV)+silicone oil tamponade underwent fewer total treatments ( P  < 0.05). In the past 10 years, the proportion of Gram-positive cocci, Gram-negative bacilli, and Candida showed an upward trend. Over the past 15 years, EE after liver abscess and immunosuppression has increased, while EE from genitourinary systems has decreased., Conclusion: EE was a devastating intraocular disease with a poor visual prognosis. The initial condition and prognosis of EE after liver abscess were the worst. PPV+silicone oil tamponade as an initial treatment may reduce additional therapy.

The characteristics of patients with endophthalmitis due to penetrating ocular trauma are still limited. The aim of the study was to fill these gaps among Chinese population. This retrospective study included patients diagnosed as penetrating ocular traumatic endophthalmitis between January 2016 to December 2018. During the past 3-year period, a total of 201 patients with antecedent penetrating eye injuries were evaluated. Of which, 42 (20.9%) patients presented a clinical course compatible with acute infectious endophthalmitis. 39 (92.86%) patients were males, and 15 (35.71%) patients had mechanical injuries from intraocular foreign body (IOFB), the rate of endophthalmitis due to IOFB was 13.43%, higher to the rate among patients without IOFB (7.46%). The duration between injury occurrence and endophthalmitis onset was 1 day in 10 (23,80%) patients; 2 to 7 days in 31 (73.80%) patients, and 7 to 14 days in 1 (2.38%) patient. After 1 year follow-up, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) better than 20/400 was observed in 15 (35.71%) patients, counting fingers and hand move in 17 (40.48%) patients, light perception in 5 (11.9%) patients and no light perception in 5 (11.9%) patients, respectively. Patients with promising outcomes had better initial BCVA at baseline (P < .001). Endophthalmitis is a severe ocular infectious condition that may lead to irreversible vision loss. Aims: To characterize the clinical features of ocular trauma resulting from lawn mower, identify determinants of unfavorable final visual acuity (FVA), and assess the spectrum of microbial in posttraumatic endophthalmitis., Methods: This retrospective study enrolled patients who experienced ocular trauma due to lawn mower at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center from January 2013 to August 2021. Demographics, clinical features, isolated microorganisms, risk factors influencing reduced visual acuity, treatment regimens, and utilization of eyewear were collected., Results: The study included 140 participants (140 eyes) (49.47 ± 12.03 years, 95% male). The predominant injury manifestations were penetrating globe injuries (75.7%) and intraocular foreign bodies (51.4%). Endophthalmitis occurred in 35 cases (25%) and Bacillus cereus (23.5%) was the primary pathogen, followed by Staphylococcus epidermidis (11.8%) and Streptococcus species (11.8%). Following the initial assessment, where 77.9% of patients had initial visual acuity (IVA) at grade IV (ranging from light perception to 4/200) and only 0.7% attained grade I (better than 20/40), post-treatment results revealed that 5.7% achieved FVA at grade I, with a concurrent decrease in patients with grade IV vision to 64.3%. Multivariate logistic regression revealed that injury protection (p < 0.001, OR = 0.237, 95% CI = 0.126-0.446), IVA (p = 0.001, OR = 4.102, 95% CI = 1.730-9.729), and retinal detachment (p = 0.042, OR = 8.105, 95% CI = 1.075-61.111) were significant independent risk factors impacting FVA., Conclusion: Lawn mower often cause severe ocular injuries, with high-velocity metal foreign bodies that can lead to infections, most commonly caused by Bacillus cereus. Cataract is a lens metabolism disease, which is caused by various factors, and leads to metamorphic lens proteins turbidity. Cataract commonly occurs in elderly patients, and majority of these patients have clinical manifestations of blurred vision and other symptoms. In this study, we explored the clinical practice and observations of cataract care criteria in nonophthalmic wards. To realize this, a total of one hundred and twenty (120) cataract patients, admitted to the East Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, particularly from April 2019-2020, were divided into the control and observation groups, where 60 cases were added to each group. The control group received routine nursing, and observation group was treated with cataract care criteria based on the control group. The complication rate, health cognition, and patient's satisfaction were compared with existing approaches. The incidence of corneal edema, anterior chamber hemorrhage, endophthalmitis, and incision infection, specifically in the observation group, was lower than that in the control group ( P < 0.05). Likewise, the number of hospitalization days and expenses, specifically in the observation group, were lower than those in the control group ( P < 0.05). Health knowledge and satisfaction scores of the observation group were higher than the control group ( P < 0.05). Active service, service attitude, psychological support, caring patients, and health education dissatisfaction rate of the observation group were lower than the control group ( P < 0.05). Finally, the standard of cataract care in nonophthalmic wards reduces the incidence of complications, improve health awareness of patients, and help to improve satisfaction of patients with nurses. Background/aims: To analyse the clinical characteristics of intraocular foreign body (IOFB) injury in children and evaluate factors associated with endophthalmitis development., Methods: Patients aged <18 years with IOFB attending Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center between January 2003 and July 2016 were included retrospectively. Demographic features, clinical characteristics and factors associated with endophthalmitis development were analysed., Results: Consecutive subjects (n=484, 484 eyes) were included: mean age 10.12±4.54 years, 86.4% male. Fireworks (28.5%) were the most common cause of injury. Injury of uncertain cause (17.5%), fireworks (36.7%) and metal splatter (31.7%) accounted for most injuries in the 0-3, 4-12 and 13-17 years age groups, respectively. Plant branches (16.7%) and fireworks (31.1%) were the most common causes of injuries in females and males, respectively. Endophthalmitis occurred in 116 patients (24.0%), with metallic IOFB (OR=0.338, p=0.001), intraocular haemorrhage (OR=0.100, p<0.001) and uveal tissue prolapse (OR=0.206, p<0.001) conferring lower risk, while zone II wound (OR=4.336, p<0.001) and traumatic lens rupture (OR=2.567, p=0.028) were associated with higher risk., Conclusion: Clinical characteristics of children with IOFB injury differ from those of adults. Fireworks are the most common cause of injury, indicating a ban on children igniting fireworks should be advocated. Safety education and protective measures should vary by age and sex. Objectives: The aim of this study was to analyse the clinical features, microbiology results, management and outcomes of patients with endogenous endophthalmitis caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae in western China., Methods: A retrospective review of medical records of 10 eyes in 10 subjects diagnosed with endogenous K. pneumoniae endophthalmitis from January 2008 to December 2018 was undertaken., Results: The top 3 predisposing medical conditions included diabetes mellitus (50%), malignancy (20%) and cardiac stent implantation (10%). Extraocular infective foci were mainly found in the liver (40%), lungs (20%) and kidneys (10%). The positive culture rate was 85.71% (6/7) in vitreous samples, 83.33% (5/6) in blood samples and 100% (4/4) in body fluid samples. Only 20% of the patients, who had good initial visual acuity (VA) better than hand movement (HM), achieved a final VA better than 1.0 (log MAR). The mortality rate was 10%., Conclusions: Though the prognosis of endogenous K. pneumoniae endophthalmitis is often poor, patients with an initial VA better than HM may have a good prognosis under comprehensive treatments, including vitrectomy, systemic sensitive antibiotic injection and drainage of the primary infection loci., (© 2020 S. Aims: To estimate the cumulative incidence of postoperative endophthalmitis, identify risk factors and determine clinical outcomes in China., Methods: Medical records were reviewed for all patients with acute-onset endophthalmitis after cataract surgery from January 2006 to December 2011 at eight eye centres of tertiary care hospitals in China., Results: Sixty-six cases of presumed endophthalmitis occurred after 201 757 cataract surgeries, yielding a cumulative incidence of 0.033% (95% CI 0.025 to 0.041). Logistic regression analysis revealed that the risk of endophthalmitis increased with intraoperative communication with vitreous (multivariate OR 9.96; 95% CI 4.54 to 21.84; p<0.001). After a median follow-up of 153 days, best-corrected visual acuity in the affected eye was more than 20/70 in 29/65 (44.6%) patients, and more than 20/40 in 20/65 (30.8%). A predictor of good visual acuity was baseline acuity of counting fingers or better (OR 6.25; 95% CI 2.13 to 18.33). Of 64 cases, 25 (39.1%) were culture positive. Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus and Pseudomonas species were the most common organisms isolated, accounting for 72.0% of the culture-positive cases (18/25). Two eye centres that used a combination of a high concentration vancomycin (1 mg/0.1 mL intracameral vancomycin injection or 100 µg/mL vancomycin in irrigating solution) and tobramycin as infection prophylaxis achieved a lower incidence of endophthalmitis than other centres (p<0.001)., Conclusions: The incidence of acute postoperative endophthalmitis after cataract surgery in tertiary care hospitals of China was 0.033%. Intraoperative communication with vitreous was a major risk factor for developing endophthalmitis. Prophylactic use of a high-concentration vancomycin and tobramycin may play a positive role in the prevention of postoperative endophthalmitis after cataract surgery.

Purpose: To explore the clinical characteristics of patients with ocular toxocariasis in eastern China., Methods: The medical records of 35 cases of ocular toxocariasis in Fudan University Eye & ENT Hospital between May 2009 and April 2011 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. UBM, RetCam or fundus imaging, and high-frequency or conventional ultrasonography were performed in these patients., Results: The mean patient age in our series of ocular toxocariasis was 11.86 ± 8.80 years. There were 28 children and seven adults, the majority residing in a rural area (88.57%). All cases were classified into three clinical subtypes: granuloma in the peripheral retina (60% of cases); granuloma in the posterior pole (28.57% of cases); and vitreous inflammation mimicking chronic endophthalmitis (5.71% of cases). We also identified an additional subtype with unique clinical features that we termed "combined type" presenting in 5.71% of our patients. This subtype exhibited granulomas in both the posterior pole and peripheral retina. RetCam fundus imaging was able to identify granulomas in the posterior and peripheral subtypes, 100% and 80.95% of cases respectively. Moreover, UBM combined with conventional ultrasonography identified granulomas in 95% of the peripheral subtype cases and in 100% of the posterior pole subtype cases., Conclusions: This is the first ocular toxocariasis series described in Chinese patients. Compared with reports from developed countries, the ocular features in our series were more severe and complicated, presenting with poorer visual acuity and a high rate of retinal detachment (45.7%). The application of RetCam and UBM during examination in ocular toxocariasis can provide valuable information in determining the severity of disease and features important in considering surgical procedures in such patients.

Purpose: To analyze the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of patients with bleb-associated endophthalmitis (BAE) in a Chinese population., Methods: A retrospective review of patients treated for BAE between January 2003 and December 2010 in a single institution was performed. Data on visual acuity (VA), clinical characteristics, causative organisms, and treatment outcomes were collected and analyzed., Results: Thirty-one eyes from 31 patients with BAE were identified during the study period. Primary open-angle glaucoma was the most common type of glaucoma in this series (18 eyes, 58.1%). The time between glaucoma filtering surgery and diagnosis of endophthalmitis ranged from 18 days to 32 years, with a mean of 6.95 ± 8.22 years. Nine eyes (32.1%) were culture positive, and the most common organisms identified were Staphylococcus species (6/9, 66.7%). Best-corrected VA at 12 months after treatment ranged from 20/30 to no light perception (NLP). Twelve (38.7%) eyes achieved VA of 20/400 or better, and 7 (22.6%) eyes had NLP. In patients undergoing initial tap-and-inject treatment, the eyes with presenting VA of finger count or better were associated with a higher treatment success rate (87.5%) than those of hand movement (33.3%) or light perception or NLP (9.1%)., Conclusions: Primary open-angle glaucoma was the most common type of glaucoma, and Staphylococcus species was the most common causative organism in this case series of BAE. Despite prompt treatment with appropriate intravitreal antibiotics, BAE still carries a poor visual prognosis.

A retrospective study of all intra-ocular operations performed at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre, China between 1 January 2000 and 30 December 2009 was conducted to gain further knowledge about nosocomial acute-onset postoperative endophthalmitis. In total, 147,244 intra-ocular operations were performed during this period. Acute-onset postoperative endophthalmitis was diagnosed in 29 cases, giving a frequency of 0.020%. The frequency remained low and did not increase over the 10-year period. The highest rate of endophthalmitis was found following secondary intra-ocular lens implantation (0.129%). Cataract surgery had a rate of 0.01%, which is on the lower end of estimates from other large-scale studies. Gram-positive bacteria were the most commonly isolated organisms (71%), with the majority being Staphylococcus epidermidis (64%). However, no S. epidermidis was identified in the cases following cataract extraction; these patients received intracameral vancomycin at the end of the procedure. Visual outcomes of patients with postoperative endophthalmitis were generally poor. Three (10%) patients had visual acuity (VA) ≥20/40 at the final follow-up visit (all had undergone cataract surgery) and 15 (52%) patients had VA ≤20/400 at the final follow-up visit (10 had undergone pars plana vitrectomy). Factors associated with poor visual outcomes included initial VA of hand motions or worse, and positive culture results. Background: Endophthalmitis after cataract surgery is an uncommon but devastating complication. Prophylactic intracameral injection of cefuroxime 1 mg at the end of surgery decreases the incidence five-fold. The visual outcome can be good (53% of cases having a visual acuity [VA] of better than 20/40) if treatment is initiated rapidly and follows the Endophthalmitis Vitrectomy Study (EVS) guidelines; but even with the best treatment, some patients end up with a poor visual outcome. Previous studies on postoperative endophthalmitis mainly focus on the cases performed in metropolitan tertiary hospitals; however, little information is available on the cases performed in local hospitals in rural areas., Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients with acute endophthalmitis following cataract surgery, which were performed in local hospitals and later treated at the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center between 1 January 1998 and 31 December 2009. Details of each case, including the interval from symptoms to presentation, initial treatment in local hospitals, microorganisms isolated, treatment, and visual outcome, were recorded. Cross-tabulations were conducted in order to identify the prognostic factors of final visual outcome., Results: Forty-six patients referred from 36 local hospitals and later treated at the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center were reviewed over the audit period. Most of these cases occurred in April. Gram-positive bacteria were the predominant etiology, with fungal infection accounting for 15%. Even though 54% of patients had symptoms within 3 days post-cataract surgery, they did not present to a tertiary center until a mean of 10 days. The main initial treatment in local hospitals is systemic antibiotics, instead of the intravitreal injection of antibiotics. A high proportion of cases (27/46) received immediate pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) in the tertiary center, and the antibiotic used for intravitreal injection was mainly tobramycin. The final visual outcome was poor, with only three cases having a VA ≥20/40., Conclusion: A relatively high rate of fungal endophthalmitis suggests that sterilization patterns in local hospitals should be further revised. A delayed presentation, inappropriate treatment procedures, poor presenting VA, and causative organism virulence may account for the unfavorable visual outcome in this study.

A systematic search of the China National Knowledge Infrastructure database for articles on endophthalmitis after cataract surgery between 1995 and 2009 identified 57 articles that included 403 eyes. The incidence of endophthalmitis after cataract surgery was 0.06% (140/233,115). Treatments included intraocular antibiotic injection in 54.1% of eyes and immediate vitrectomy in 40.2%. Of 356 intraocular samples, 214 (60.1%) were culture positive; 187 (87.3%) bacterial and 27 (12.7%) fungal. The presenting visual acuity was <5/200 in 195 (75.3%) of 259 eyes and the final visual acuity, ≥20/40 in 63 eyes (16.8%). During these 15 years, the use of vitrectomy increased significantly (P<.05). The proportion of eyes with a final visual acuity of ≥20/400 also increased significantly (P<.05) during each 5-year period. Although these represent favorable changes in the treatment and prognosis of endophthalmitis, there are differences between these outcomes and those in developed countries. Purpose: To investigate epidemiologic and clinical characteristics, prognostic factors, and visual outcomes of posttraumatic intraocular foreign body (IOFB)., Design: Retrospective, consecutive case series., Methods: Information from 1,421 eyes (1299 inpatients) with IOFB selected from all open-globe injury cases (4,968 eyes of 4,865 inpatients) in 15 tertiary hospitals in China over a 5-year period were collected from a standardized preformulated database of eye injuries. Factors affecting retinal lesions or detachment, development of endophthalmitis, and visual outcome were analyzed statistically., Results: IOFBs represented 28.60% of all open-globe injuries. Of the 1,421 eyes, endophthalmitis developed in 232 (16.76%), and independent protective factors included primary repair within 24 hours (odds ratio [OR], 0.59; P = .006) and self-sealing wounds (OR, 0.69; P = .013). At discharge or follow-up, the enucleation rate was 7.53%, best-corrected visual acuity (VA) improved in 54.33%, and 4.85% had no light perception. Wound length of at least 3 mm and IOFB located in the posterior segment increased the risk of retinal lesion or detachment, and both (OR, 1.66; P < .001; OR, 4.04; P < .001) were significant negative predictors for visual outcome, along with wound larger than IOFB in largest length (OR, 2.38; P = .002) and endophthalmitis (OR, 2.01; P = .0003). Better initial VA (OR, 0.76; P < .001) was a protective factor for final VA., Conclusions: For IOFBs, primary wound closure by repair within 24 hours or self-sealing independently reduces the risk of endophthalmitis. Early diagnosis and appropriate empirical treatment of bacterial meningitis reduce morbidity and mortality. Prevalence rates of different causative pathogens associated with bacterial meningitis can depend on age, the underlying medical condition, way of infection and geographical distribution. Klebsiella pneumoniae represents an infrequent cause of community-acquired meningitis in South-East Asia and North-East Asia, where it accounts for 20% of all bacterial meningitis, frequently associated with septic metastatic complications. We describe a case of K. pneumoniae meningitis, diplopia and chemosis in a recently immigrated patient with impaired glucose tolerance. The reason for the high prevalence of metastatic septic infections caused by K. pneumoniae in Taiwan and South-East Asia remains unclear: high prevalence in this area of serotype K1 and K2 and the expression of a novel locus called magA conferring to bacterium an elevated phagocytosis resistance and an active proliferation ability have been suggested. A high degree of suspicion for this etiology must be taken into account in immigrants from China and Taiwan. Due to a very high lethality, guidelines on empiric treatment should be considered in the management of bacterial meningitis, with the patients geographical origin and the clinical syndrome (meningitis and endophtalmitis) as potential risk factors for K. pneumoniae infection.

Background: Most cases of exogenous endophthalmitis occur after intraocular surgery. Although phacoemulsification is quick and convenient, there are some risks involved, and infection is one of them. This study investigated the associated factors and methods of prevention and treatment of endophthalmitis after phacoemulsification., Methods: A retrospective study was conducted of 84 497 phacoemulsification surgeries with intraocular lens implantation performed in the 10 branches of Mai Ge Ophthalmological Hospital, Tianjin, China, from 1993 to 2003., Results: It was found that 14 patients suffered from postoperative endophthalmitis in 14 eyes. Among them there were 5 cases with rupturing of posterior lens capsule. Postoperative endophthalmitis was culture-positive in 7 cases. After treatment, 5 patients had a visual acuity of 2.0 or above, 4 patients experienced the perception of light or hand movement, and the remaining 5 patients had lost light perception (2 cases ultimately had optic atrophy, and ophthalmectomy was performed on 3 eyes)., Interpretation: Endophthalmitis after phacoemulsification surgery led to severe vision loss and blindness, although its incidence was low (0.02%) in this study. The most common organism isolated was Staphylococcus epidermidis, and rupturing of the posterior capsule was one of the main risk factors. Early diagnosis and treatment restored visual acuity in several cases, and improved phacoemulsification technique, including sterilization, helped reduce the incidence of endophthalmitis.

Purpose: To describe the incidence and occurrence patterns of nosocomial infections in a large eye hospital over a 6-year period., Methods: Medical records of 94,013 consecutive inpatients admitted to Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre, Guangzhou, China, from 1996 to 2002, were reviewed. Demographic data and infection diagnoses were collected. Nosocomial infection was defined as an infection that was absent during preadmission assessments but detected at least 48 h after admission to the hospital, or occurred after surgical procedures performed within the hospital., Results: The cumulative incidence of nosocomial infections over a 6-year period was 0.28%. The most common infections were acute conjunctivitis (45.5%) and upper respiratory tract infection (36.4%), followed by suppurative endophthalmitis (8.3%). Patients with acute conjunctivitis were predominantly adults aged from 15 to 59 years (60%), while patients with upper respiratory tract infection were predominantly children of 14 years or younger (74.0%), and those with endophthalmitis predominantly older persons 60 years or older (68.2%). Conditional pathogenic bacteria, mainly gram-positive, were responsible for most suppurative endophthalmitis cases., Conclusions: Although nosocomial infection incidence is relatively low in this eye hospital, our data suggest that different subgroups of patients are prone to certain types of infection. Specific preventive strategies targeting different subgroups of inpatients may further reduce the infection incidence.

Purpose: To investigate the rate, clinical features, treatment outcomes and prognosis of postvitrectomy endophthalmitis., Methods: Patients undergoing pars plana vitrectomy for vitreous opacity or complicated retinal detachment during 1988 to 2000 were collected. Vitrectomies for recent penetrating trauma or endophthalmitis were excluded. Patients suffered from clinical or culture-proven postvitrectomy endophthalmitis were selected., Results: Postvitrectomy endophthalmitis happened to 3 to 7,000 patients, resulting in an overall frequency of 0.04%. Enhanced systemic and local antibiotics were used as soon as diagnosis was made. Endophthamitis were controlled within 6 days, 8 days and 10 days, respectively. Final visual acuities were light perception in 2 patients and 0.02 in 1 patient., Conclusion: Postvitrectomy endophthalmitis was rare, but it deteriorate the visual acuity. Both ophthalmologist and patients should pay high attention to it.
