Background. Antihypertensive therapy is crucial for preventing stroke in hypertensive patients. However, the efficacy of antihypertensive therapy varies across individuals, partially due to therapy-related genetic variations among individuals. We investigated the association of antihypertensive drug-related gene polymorphism with stroke in patients with hypertension. Methods. Demographic information, medication, and outcome data were obtained from a hypertensive patient management system, and a PCR fluorescence probe technique was used to detect 7 gene polymorphic loci (CYP2D6 ∗ 10, ADRB1, CYP2C9 ∗ 3, AGTR1, ACE, CYP3A5 ∗ 3, and NPPA), and these loci were compared between patients with and without stroke. Logistic regression was performed to analyze the association of these genetic variations with stroke risk in hypertensive patients while controlling for potential factors. Results. The prevalence of stroke in the hypertensive population in Changsha County of Hunan Province was 2.75%. The mutation frequencies of ADRB1 (1165G > C), CYP2D6 ∗ 10, CYP2C9 ∗ 3, AGTR1 (1166A > C), ACE (I/D), NPPA (2238T > C), and CYP3A5 ∗ 3 were 74.43%, 57.23%, 4.26%, 5.71%, 31.62%, 1.17%, and 69.58%, respectively. Univariate analysis revealed that ADRB1 polymorphism was associated with stroke (χ2 = 8.659, P < 0.05), with a higher stroke risk in the CC group than in the GC and GG groups (GC + GG). Multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis showed that the CC genotype in ADRB1 (vs. the GC + GG genotype) was associated with an increased risk of stroke [odds ratio (OR) = 1.184, P<0.05] in hypertensive patients. No association was observed between CYP2D6 ∗ 10, CYP2C9 ∗ 3, AGTR1 (1166A > C), ACE (I/D), CYP3A5 ∗ 3, and NPPA (2238T > C) polymorphisms and stroke. Conclusions. ADRB1 (1165G > C) gene polymorphism is associated with the risk of stroke in Chinese hypertensive patients. The CC genotype is correlated with a higher risk of stroke than the GC + GG genotype. Introduction: Durvalumab is a check‐point inhibitor against programmed death ligand‐1 (PD‐L1), and anlotinib is a new orally administered multitarget tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). Both agents have been approved in China. Preclinical and clinical trials have suggested that antiangiogenic therapy has the potential to alleviate immunosuppression and showed synergetic effect when combined with ICIs. However, it is unclear that whether this combination is effective when initiated as maintenance treatment in ES‐SCLC patients. Methods: This is a multicenter, randomized, phase II study. A total of 64 eligible patients who do not experience disease progression after four cycles platinum‐based chemotherapy combined with durvalumab will be randomized to durvalumab with anlotinib or durvalumab alone until disease progression, withdrawal of consent, or unacceptable toxicity. The primary endpoint is PFS (from randomization); secondary endpoint was OS and PFS (from diagnosis), objective response rate (ORR); disease control rate (DCR) and duration of response (DOR), safety and tolerability assessed by the National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) version 5.0. Grounded in criminological theories (routine activity, social bonding, social disorganization, control balance, differential association, and general strain), this study extended the victim-offender overlap research by considering the specificity of rurality. We collected data from 2,839 adolescents in rural China and applied multilevel item response theory modeling. Both victim-offender overlap and differentiation were evident among rural adolescents. The victimization-offending overlap was associated with unstructured socializing, family and neighborhood control, moral beliefs, peer delinquency, and certain forms of social strain (loss of positively valued stimuli and exposure to negative stimuli). The differential tendency toward victimization over offending was a function of non-deviant solitary routines, failure to achieve positively valued goals, and strain-specific depression. Focusing on the reform initiatives of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) & Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) in medical scientific and technological innovation from perspectives of deepening the reform and optimizing the ecosystem of science and technology innovation, this article summarizes the highlights of CAMS & PUMC's efforts in safeguarding people's health and promoting the Healthy China 2030 strategy through scientific and technological innovation in the fields including basic research, disease prevention and treatment, and medical technology in the past ten years. These achievements embody the endeavors and responsibility of CAMS & PUMC in realizing self-reliance and self-improvement of Chinese medical science and technology and highlight its contributions to the development of medical science and technology of China. There is limited knowledge on the possible pathways of victimization among rural dwellers during adolescence in developing contexts, such as rural China, where victimization may compound developmental disadvantages of rural adolescents. Guided by the lifestyle/routine activity theory, the goal of this study thus was to examine how far delinquent lifestyles (delinquent involvement and delinquent peer association); nondeviant routine activities (unstructured socializing with peers, structured activities, and solitary activities); and social guardianship within family, school, and neighborhood contribute to juvenile victimization in a rural setting. The outcomes of interest covered direct victimization (violent, property, and sexual) and indirect victimization (witnessing community violence). The study included 2,839 adolescents (51.2% male; mean age = 13.88 ± 0.90 years) from 30 middle schools in rural China. The delinquent peer influence as a risk factor of direct and indirect victimization appeared to be more profound than delinquent involvement. Solitary activities consistently put rural adolescents at greater risk of direct and indirect victimization, and their role was stronger than that of rural adolescents' delinquent involvement. No victimization outcomes were predicted by unstructured socializing with peers and structured activities. Attachment to family caregivers and neighborhood cohesion were the strongest social guardianship predictors across all forms of victimization. These results suggest that alongside social guardianship and delinquent lifestyles, rural isolation should be addressed in managing juvenile victimization. The insignificant role of unstructured socializing with peers may raise the need to clarify its conceptual relevance to rural settings. Traditional soybean (Glycine max L.) breeding has improved seed yield in high-input agricultural systems, under high nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) supply. The seed yield improvements under non-P supply and the seed protein and mineral content dilution by yield improvement were evaluated in 18 soybean cultivars released from 1995 to 2016 in south-east China. Soybean varieties were grown under rainfed conditions in the field under 0 and 35 kg P ha−1 in four sites: Dafang and Shiqian in the growing season of 2017 and Dafang and Puding in the 2018 season. The seed yield, seed protein content and nine seed nutrition concentration were examined. Soybean seed yield increased with the year of release at rates of 5.5–6.7 g m−2 year−1 under 35 kg P ha−1 and 3.9–4.8 g m−2 year−1 under non-P supply in the four experiments. The increase resulted from increases in the number of filled-pods and total seed number rather than from single seed weight and number of seeds per pod. Seed protein content and seed nutrition concentration has not changed with the year of release under 0 and 35 kg P ha−1. Grain yield was positively correlated with the seed Fe concentration. The cultivar superiority of seed yield, seed P, Zn and Ca concentration was negatively correlated with their static stability coefficient. Traditional soybean breeding increased yield under both P and non-P supply, without affecting seed protein content and mineral concentrations. A trade-off between high seed yield and seed P, Zn and Ca concentration and their stability under different environments was shown. Whether traditional soybean (Glycine max L.) breeding can improve seed yield in low-input agricultural systems was not well known. In this study, we found: (1) traditional soybean breeding increased yield under both P and non-P supply, without affecting seed protein content and mineral concentrations; (2) a trade-off between high seed yield and seed P, Zn and Ca concentration, as affected by different environments. Purpose: Psoriasis is a serious health problem. Since limited research has investigated the impact of psoriasis on the quality of life of patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis, this study aimed to explore this issue.Methods: A qualitative study was conducted with 22 psoriasis patients from two cities in Shandong province of eastern China participating in one-to-one semi-structured in-depth interviews.Results: Thematic analysis generated five major themes: (1) Symptoms, symptoms management and pain; (2) Functioning and activities of daily living (ADLs); (3) Psychological impact; (4) Social impact; (5) Employment and finances.Conclusion: Our study detailed the effects of psoriasis on patients' symptoms, symptoms management and pain, functioning and activities of daily living (ADLs), psychological impact, social impact, employment and finances. Carbon emission reduction (CER) in the construction industry can aid in achieving the international community's carbon neutrality target. However, the low motivation of construction enterprises to reduce carbon emissions and the unsatisfactory effect of CER are still unresolved issues. This study aims to address these issues by constructing a building supply chain (BSC) consisting of a developer and a contractor using government subsidies and cost-sharing contracts. The optimal government subsidy and feedback equilibrium strategies of the BSC are examined using a combination of differential game theory and numerical simulations. The findings demonstrate that (1) cost-sharing contracts may enhance developer and contractor profits and building CER, goodwill, and demand without relying on government subsidies; (2) when subsidized by the government, each equilibrium strategy meets or exceeds the performance of the centralized model, with the cost-sharing contract having a negligible effect on the enhancement of each equilibrium strategy; and (3) both the game structure and the positioning of construction enterprises in the BSC are connected to the number of government subsidies. The city of Shenzhen, one of China's first low-carbon pilot cities, provides a realistic environment for the simulation analysis, with the Block K residential building in Nanshan District serving as a case study. Furthermore, this work contributes to the body of knowledge by proposing a novel CER model for the BSC using differential game theory. The research provides new insights into the role of government subsidies in shaping profit distribution, game structure, and enterprise positioning. Findings demonstrate the value of cost-sharing contracts in improving CER, goodwill, demand, and profits when implemented collaboratively. This advances the theoretical understanding of incentives and strategies for promoting CER in construction. This research highlights the importance of collaborative efforts between the government and the building supply chain (BSC) to promote sustainable construction and carbon emission reduction (CER). The study found that government subsidies can be an effective tool to encourage developers and contractors to adopt CER practices. However, relying solely on subsidies is insufficient—collaboration through mechanisms such as cost-sharing contracts can further enhance sustainability outcomes when enterprises work together. To facilitate low-carbon construction, the government could provide subsidies for developers' promotional and marketing activities as well as funding for contractors' research and development of sustainable materials and technologies. Financial incentives such as tax breaks and preferential lending for potential homebuyers can also accelerate consumer demand. Ultimately, creating a supportive environment where enterprises proactively pursue CER creates a win–win situation where the BSC becomes more sustainable while firms improve their branding and profitability. Realizing the full potential of sustainable construction also requires active participation from developers, contractors, and consumers. The mismatch between urban transportation demands and local transportation supplies in municipal regions may cause serious traffic congestion and high vehicle exhaust emissions (VEEs). Although it has been found that road expansion and the provision of road public transport can mitigate traffic congestion and VEEs, the effectiveness of these public strategies in alleviating traffic congestion-related VEEs has been empirically compared in few studies. With the use of a panel dataset for 260 prefecture-level cities in China from 2013 to 2018, we fill this gap via empirically examining the effects of several popular strategies that promote the efficiency of urban road transportation, including road expansion and road public transport provision, on urban air pollution of fine particulate matter (PM 2.5). Then we further investigate metrics measured by passenger and freight volumes based on local urban road coverage that can suitably reflect the mismatch degree between local transportation demands and supplies. The empirical results indicated a positive and statistically significant correlation between urban PM 2.5 levels and road expansion but not between PM 2.5 levels and road public transport, suggesting that road expansion may unintentionally increase the transportation volume and thus local PM 2.5 levels. Importantly, we found that the passenger and freight volumes per unit road length are negatively and significantly correlated with the local particulate pollution concentration across different model specifications, while the passenger and freight volumes of road transportation do not directly affect local PM 2.5 levels. We also employed a series of robustness tests to overcome the concerns associated with measurement errors, omitted variable biases, model misspecifications and endogeneity, and consistent results were obtained. Background: To measure health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of elementary and secondary school students in rural China using the simplified Chinese version of the EQ-5D-Y.Method: Both the samples of students were from a school-based cohort study in a county located in southwestern China. The students self-completed the EQ-5D-Y. Feasibility was evaluated according to the percentages of missing values. Known group validity was assessed by comparing the frequency of reporting EQ-5D-Y problems between groups known to differ in health status.Results: A total of 1728 elementary students and 2116 secondary students were included in the analysis. Their respective mean age was 8.7 (range: 7-15) years and 14.8 (range: 11-18) years, with girls being 45.1 and 50.1%, respectively. The missing values in both samples were quite low. Elementary students were less likely to have problems on'having pain or discomfort' and 'feeling worried, sad or unhappy' dimensions, but more likely to report problems on the dimensions related to physical functioning. Gender difference in HRQOL was only detected for secondary students in terms of 'doing usual activities', 'having pain or discomfort,' and 'feeling worried, sad or unhappy' (P < 0.05 for all). The significant differences in HRQOL were not observed for the other characteristics.Conclusions: It appears that the EQ-5D-Y is feasible and valid instrument in school-aged children and adolescents in rural China; but it suffers from similar disadvantages to those found in other general populations. Purpose: As a novel hepatokine, fetuin B involves in various functions of energy metabolism. Recent advance reveals a complex interaction between bone and liver via the secretion of hepatokines. The association between serum fetuin B and osteoporosis was evaluated in a 4-year hospital-based prospective study of 1,370 Chinese postmenopausal women.Methods: Bone mineral densities (BMDs) were obtained on femoral neck and lumbar spines by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. Serum fetuin B level was tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results: Of the 1,370 participants in the baseline study (2012), 650 subjects were included in the 4-year follow-up study (2016). Serum fetuin B level presented higher in subjects with osteoporosis (106.7 ± 17.6 μg/ml) than it in controls (86.3 ± 17.5 μg/ml) (P < 0.001). Meanwhile, fetuin B positively correlated with triglycerides (r = 0.227, P = 0.001), femoral BMD (r = -0.426, P < 0.001) and lumbar BMD (r = -0.332, P < 0.001). At the 4-year follow-up, 116 subjects had developed osteoporosis. Serum fetuin B concentration was significantly higher in subjects who developed (P < 0.001). The osteoporosis incidence increased from Q1 9.9%, Q2 14.7%, and Q3 17.8% to Q4 30.2% (P for trend < 0.001), among the quartiles of baseline fetuin B. A higher fetuin B baseline level was linked to the incidence of osteoporosis (adjusted OR = 1.179, 95% CI [1.119 - 1.243], P = 0.009).Conclusion: Serum fetuin B levels increased with the development of osteoporosis. Background and Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the associations between salty food preference and osteoporosis (OP) in general Chinese men.Methods and Study Design: We conducted a largescale, community-based, cross-sectional study to estimate the associations by using self-report questionnaire to evaluate the salty food preference. The total of 1,092 men was available to data analysis in this study. Multiple regression models controlling for confounding factors to include salty food preference variables were employed to explore the relationships for OP.Results: We found negative correlations between preference for salty food and T-score (p=0.006). Multiple regression analysis showed that the preference for salty food was significantly positively associated with OP (p<0.05 for all). The men with preference for salty food habits had a higher prevalence of OP.Conclusion: The findings indicated that salty food preference was independently and significantly associated with OP. Objectives: This article applies a multidimensional social exclusion framework to examine Chinese rural-to-urban migrant victimization. Method: Data from the 2012 China Labor Dynamics Survey is used to examine whether Chinese migrants are more likely to be victimized compared to urban residents and to what extent the prior findings on the meditating roles of social exclusion between immigration and victimization can be applied to understand Chinese migrants’ victimization. Results: Findings reveal the elevated victimization risks among nationwide rural-to-urban migrants. Logistic regression models find that social exclusion mediates the link between migrant status and victimization and that social exclusion predicts victimization. Conclusions: The discriminative institutional arrangements in China are a major force of the universal disadvantages of Chinese migrants. That is, it is not the migrant status itself, but the social exclusion suffered by individuals that increase the likelihood of being criminally victimized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There is increasing evidence that inadequate family environments (family material environment and family psychosocial environment) are not only social problems but also factors contributing to adverse neurocognitive outcomes. In the present study, the authors investigated the relationship among family environments, children's naturalistic affective state, self-reported stress, and executive functions in a sample of 157 Chinese families. These findings revealed that in inadequate family material environments, reduced children's cognitive flexibility is associated with increased naturalistic negative affectivity and self-reported stress. In addition, naturalistic negative affectivity mediated the association between family expressiveness and children's cognitive flexibility. The authors used a structural equation model to examine the mediation model hypothesis, and the results confirmed the mediating roles of naturalistic negative affectivity and self-reported stress between family environments and the cognitive flexibility of Chinese children. Based on the skewed function, the most probable temperature is defined and the spatiotemporal distributions of the frequencies and strengths of extreme temperature events in different climate states over China are investigated, where the climate states are referred to as State I, State II and State III, i.e., the daily minimum temperature records of 1961- 1990, 1971-2000, and 1981-2009. The results show that in space the frequency of high temperature events in summer decreases clearly in the lower and middle reaches of the Yellow River in State I and that low temperature events decrease in northern China in State II. In the present state, the frequency of high temperature events increases significantly in most areas over China except the north east, while the frequency of low temperature events decreases mainly in north China and the regions between the Yangtze River and the Yellow River. The distributions of frequencies and strengths of extreme temperature events are consistent in space. The analysis of time evolution of extreme events shows that the occurrence of high temperature events become higher with the change in state, while that of low temperature events decreases. Shaoxing rice wine, manufactured in Shaoxing region of Zhejiang Province, is the best-known Chinese rice wine. In the current study, the bacterial communities associated with two types of 'wheat Qu', the Shaoxing rice wine starter cultures, were identified and compared using nested PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis analysis. DNA sequencing of the highly variable V3 or V9 regions of the 16S rRNA genes obtained from PCR-DGGE fingerprints identified common species related to Saccharopolyspora hordei, S. rectivirgula, Bacillus subtilis, B. amyloliquefaciens and so on. Some sequences associated with a particular type were also identified. For example, Clavibacter michiganensis and Saccharopolyspora sp. were found in the machine- but not in the human-made type, while Curtobacterium plantarum, Thermoactinomyces intermedius, T. vulqaris, B. licheniformis and Bacillus sp. were found in human- but not in machine-made type of wheat Qu. The information gathered from the present research enriches the present knowledge of Shaoxing rice wine-related bacteria, and will also facilitate the long-term objective of selecting bacterial combinations to be used as starter cultures that will more tightly regulate the fermentation process, as well as improve the quality and safety of wheat Qu. This article reports on research into Chinese students' perceptions of a pilot key skills' communication course introduced in three vocational education institutions in China. The course was based on key skills' criteria formulated in 2004 by China's Vocational Qualification Appraisal Committee and produced in response to the changing demands of employers operating in a global environment of growth and competition. Intrinsic to the initiative, was the use of student-centred learning as opposed to the more didactic methods traditionally used in Chinese education. Through institutional case studies, focus groups, class observations and interviews, data was gathered to reveal views and underlying perceptions of the new course. The findings reported here focus on Chinese students' understanding of communication key skills and their changing attitudes to student-centred learning. Abstract: A digestion trial using six sheep wethers surgically fitted with ruminal cannulae was carried out to evaluate chemical composition and ruminal degradation characteristics of six wildrye (Elymus nutans) populations from Tibet. Nylon bags containing forage were incubated in duplicate for 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72h. Differences were observed in the rapidly soluble fraction, potential degradable fraction, degradation rate and effective degradability between the six populations. The rapidly soluble organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP) and neutral detergent fibre (NDF) fractions ranged from 9.76 to 21.22%, 24.27 to 34.67% and 5.93 to 12.22%, respectively. The potentially degradable OM, CP and NDF fractions ranged from 59.48 to 86.75%, 56.15 to 70.89% and 52.17 to 67.48%, respectively. The effective degradability (ED) of nutrients was also different (P <0.01) among the altitudes. The samples collected from high altitudes had a relatively high content of CP and low content of NDF, and showed a high degradability of nutrients. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The objective of the current study was to evaluate chemical composition and degradation characteristics for eight forages harvested in July from the Tibetan plateau of China. Duplicate bags containing 2 g of forage species were incubated in the rumen of six ruminally cannulated Tibet Peng-Po sheep for 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h. Significant differences were observed in degradation kinetics and effective degradability values of the different forages. The rapid degradable value and potential degradability for dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fibre (NDF) in Lagotis humilis was higher (P<0.01) than for the other forages. Carex satakeana had the most rapidly degradable crude protein (CP) fraction of all forages tested and Elymus nutans had the highest potential degradability of CP. L.humilis, C.satakeana and E.nutans had high effective degradability of DM and CP indicated their high quality as ruminal forage in cold areas of Tibet. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on the birth record data from the National Vital Statistics in the 1990 Census of China, the present study analyzed the differences between urban and rural areas on monozygotic (MZ) and dizygotic (DZ) twin rates by maternal age in 1989. The twins by zygosity were calculated with Weinberg's differential method. Results show that the MZ and DZ twinning rates in China were associated with maternal age and that there were substantial differences between urban and rural areas. The MZ twinning rates in urban and rural areas were 2.36 pairs and 2.11 pairs per 1000 deliveries respectively, significantly lower than that in most studied populations. Furthermore, our analysis indicated that MZ twinning rates remained relatively constant for mothers under the age group of 36 to 38 years, but rose over this age group in both areas, albeit with a different slope. The DZ twinning rates were strikingly affected by maternal age, but the age for peak DZ rates was found within the age group of 33 to 35 years. In all maternal age groups except for 24 to 26 years, the DZ twinning rates in urban areas were higher than in rural areas. It remains unclear as to why the DZ twinning rates reversed to reach higher values within the older maternal age groups in China, but it is almost certain that the high twinning rates had nothing to do with in vitro fertilization. The air quality in classrooms significantly impacts school children's health and learning performance. It has been reported worldwide that classroom air quality does not meet the required standard and actions are pledged for improvement. However, it poses a challenge for decision-making in terms of prioritising taking-up measures. The aim of this study is to propose a method of identifying the action measures for improving classroom air quality and prioritising them. Case studies in the UK and China were conducted, and the key measures were identified through literature studies, open-ended questionnaire surveys, and workshop discussions, which are classified into three categories: B1, policy; B2, technology; and B3, information sharing. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is applied in the prioritisation of the action measures. A total of 138 teachers and parents from China and the UK participated in this case study. The genetic algorithm-optimised Hadamard product (GAOHP) method is applied to justify the consistency ratio (CR) within the required threshold value in order to ensure the consistency of the subjective perception and the accuracy of comparative weights. The results show that item B2, technology, is the most desired measure by both Chinese and British parents and teachers, despite the deviation from the optimal choice in China and the UK. Among the proposed action measures, the UK respondents strongly expected air purifiers with natural ventilation as opposed to their Chinese counterparts preferring to share the real-time status of classroom air quality. Poly-metamorphism has been observed in many Precambrian metamorphic terranes. The metamorphic overprinting in the poly-metamorphic rocks makes it difficult to determine the timing and P − T path of each metamorphic event. In this study, in situ U–Pb dating of zircon, xenotime, and monazite, with simultaneously determination of trace element compositions, is utilized to provide new constraints on the timing of discrete metamorphic events involving reactivation of the Jiao-Liao-Ji Belt, the eastern edge of the North China Craton. Detrital zircons from metasandstones in the Gaixian Formation record a mixed provenance that includes late Neoarchean (ca. 2532 Ma) and middle Paleoproterozoic (ca. 2181 Ma). Xenotimes from the Gaixian pelitic schists yield an upper intercept age of 1906 ± 25 Ma, and this age is interpreted as the timing of greenschist-facies regional metamorphism. However, monazites from the same pelitic schists yield a distinctly younger age of 242 Ma, with late Paleoproterozoic inherited ages of 1894 and 1809 Ma, which are broadly consistent with the xenotime ages. In addition, magmatic zircons from a granitic mylonite vein yield a similar age of 245 Ma, making it coeval with the monazite. The interpretation of these ages is also reinforced by the mineral assemblage of inclusions in the dated accessory mineral grains. These new geochronological data, combined with published data from the Jiao-Liao-Ji Belt and the related regions, suggest that the Gaixian Formation in the Yanghe area was likely some time deposited at 2181–1900 Ma, and experienced both late Paleoproterozoic and Triassic low-grade metamorphic events related to two distinct orogenic phases in the eastern North China Craton. Background: Care assistant workers (CAWs) are a part of a new pattern of mental health care providers in China and play a significant role in bridging the human resource shortage. CAWs in China mainly include community cadres, community mental health staff, and community policemen. The mental health related knowledge and attitudes of CAWs could influence their mental health care delivery. This study aimed to assess mental health related knowledge and attitudes of CAWs in Guangzhou, China. Methods: In November 2017, a study was conducted among 381 CAWs from four districts of Guangzhou, China. Participants were assessed using the Perceived Devaluation and Discrimination Scale (PDD), the Mental Health Knowledge Schedule (MAKS), and the Mental illness: Clinicians' Attitudes (MICA) Scale. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Bonferroni corrections and multivariable linear regression. Results: The mean scores (standard deviation) of PDD, MAKS and MICA were 36.45 (6.54), 22.72 (2.56), and 51.67 (7.88), respectively. Univariate analyses showed that the older CAWs, community policemen and those who were less willing to deliver care to people with mental illness had significant higher MICA scores when compared with other staff (P < 0.001). Multivariable linear regression showed that after controlling for key variables, care willingness and PDD total score were positively associated with the MICA total score (all P < 0.05), while attitudes on additional items were significant negatively with the MICA total score (all P < 0.01). Conclusion: These findings suggest negative attitudes towards people with mental disorders among CAWs are common, especially among older staff. Community policemen suggest that they applied stereotypes of "violent mentally ill" people to all people they deal with who have mental disorders. The results also indicate human rights are being paid some attention to now, but need to be further continually improved in the future. Strategies for improving such negative attitudes and reducing the perceived stigma and discrimination should be carried out towards particular staff groups in an anti-stigma programme in Guangzhou, China. Purpose: Parental rural-to-urban migration has a wide range of health effects on children's but its impact on children's refractive status remains unclear. We aim to examine whether parental rural-to-urban migration could influence the refractive status of their children in rural areas of China. Methods: Among the 2346 grade 7 students in the Mojiang Myopia Progression Study, information regarding parental migration was collected by questionnaires and was successfully obtained in 2105 participants. Refractive error was measured in diopters (D) with cycloplegia using an autorefractor and axial length (AL) was measured using an IOL Master. One-to-one nearest-neighbor matching techniques with a 0.01 caliper level were used to estimate the propensity score matching (PSM) models. Results: Among all the participants, 472 pairs (1 student with vs. 1 student without migrant parents) were successfully matched based on propensity scores. Students with migrant parents had a lower proportion of myopia (29.2% vs. 40.7%; P <.001) and more hyperopic refractions (−0.25D vs. −0.31D; P =.04) compared with those without. They also had shorter ALs (23.4 mm vs. 23.6 mm) but the difference was not significance (P =.18). In addition, students with migrant parents spent less time reading after school per day (0.87 vs. 1.01 hours; P =.01). Conclusions: Myopia is less prevalent among children with migrant parents compared with those without. Purpose: To examine the distribution and determinants of central corneal thickness (CCT) including birth weight and gestational age in a school-based samples of Grade 7 students in rural China. Methods: 2346 (93.5%) grade 7 students with a mean age of 13.8 years participated in the study. CCT was measured for both eyes using the LenStar LS900. Information regarding birth weight and gestational age was retrieved from the participants' delivery records. A linear regression model was established to examine the relationship of birth weight, gestational age and other factors with CCT. Results: The mean CCT in this population was 534.7 µm and boys had a greater CCT compared with girls (P =.06). CCT was positively related to axial length (r = 0.056) while negatively related to anterior chamber depth (r = −0.076) and corneal power (r = −0.105). In multivariate analyses, the cornea was 19.35µm thinner in individuals with low birth weight compared with those with normal. In addition, the cornea was 25.25µm thinner in prematurely born adolescents compared with full-term ones. The combined effect of birth weight and gestational age on CCT was not statistically significant (P for interaction = 0.12) Conclusions: Low birth weight and small gestational age are associated with thinner corneas in adolescence. This disparity across groups with different levels of birth parameters should be taken into account by future studies investigating CCT as risk factors or diagnostic tests for glaucoma. • A clockwise P – T–t path was reconstructed from the cordierite-bearing granulites of the South Liaohe Group. • U–Pb age data reveal 1945 Ma peak and 1851–1839 Ma retrogressive metamorphisms. • Discovery of the cordierite-bearing granulites further suggests that the Jiao-Liao-Ji belt have undergone 1950–1800 Ma orogenesis. To better understand the formation of high-temperature metamorphic rocks, we present a detailed petrological and geochronological study of recently discovered cordierite-bearing granulites of the South Liaohe Group in the Jiao-Liao-Ji Belt, North China Craton. Petrographic observations indicate that four distinct mineral assemblages are present in the granulites: pre-peak amphibolite facies (M 1), peak granulite facies (M 2), post-peak decompression (M 3), and late cooling retrogression (M 4). M 1 is preserved as fine-grained inclusions in the cores of garnet grains, represented by quartz + plagioclase + biotite + ilmenite. M 2 is interpreted to have comprised garnet + sillimanite + plagioclase + quartz + biotite + ilmenite + melt. M 3 was characterized by the formation of cordierite + sillimanite symplectites and cordierite + quartz coronas replacing garnet. M 4 is indicated by the formation of staurolite, accompanied by the crystallization of melt. A combination of multi-equilibria geothermobarometers and pseudosection modeling constrains the P–T conditions of the M 1 , M 2 , M 3 , and M 4 stages to P = 0.66–0.71 GPa and T = 620–650 °C, P = 0.96–1.10 GPa and T = 790–840 °C, P = 0.62–0.65 GPa and T = 725–785 °C, and P = 0.43–0.55 GPa and T = 595–625 °C, respectively. Zircon and monazite U–Pb dating yields three distinct and meaningful ages for the granulites: (1) 2200–2100 Ma for the granulite protoliths, (2) ca. 1945 Ma for the near-peak metamorphism, and (3) 1851–1839 Ma for the post-peak and late retrogressive metamorphism. Thus, a clockwise P–T–t path is determined for the cordierite-bearing granulites of the South Liaohe Group. Petrological and geochronological evidence from regional metamorphic rocks in the Jiao-Liao-Ji Belt suggests that the belt experienced a continuous orogenesis from 1950 to 1800 Ma. Abstract From 2015 to 2017, under the same nationally available subsidy, license plate-controlled big cities accounted for 49.3%–65.0% of electric vehicle (EV) adoption in China. This phenomenon cannot be solely explained by subsidy policy. In this paper, we assess the influences of license plate lottery and subsidy policies, together with other influential factors, on consumers' intention to purchase EVs. Based on a large sample of data collected in Beijing, we find that license plate lottery and subsidy policies are both among the most influential factors in promoting EVs in Beijing. In a certain sense, license plate lottery policy had a stronger influence than subsidy policy at the time of the study. Other significant influential factors include the consumer's annual household income, level of interest in EV news, vehicle performance, daily travel distance, and number of family cars (negative). Seed dormancy contributes greatly to successful establishment and community stability and shows large variation over a continuous status scale in mountain ecosystems. Although empirical studies have shown that seed dormancy status (SDS) is shaped by elevation and phylogenetic history in mountain ecosystems, few studies have quantified their combined effects on SDS. Here, we collected mature seeds from 51 populations of 11 Impatiens species (Balsaminaceae) along an elevational gradient in the Gaoligong Mountains of southwest China and estimated SDS using mean dormancy percentage of fresh seeds germinated at three constant temperatures (15, 20, and 25°C). We downloaded 19 bioclimatic variables from WorldClim v.2.1 for each Impatiens population and used internal transcribed spacer (ITS), atpB‐rbcL, and trnL‐F molecular sequences from the GenBank nucleotide database to construct a phylogenetic tree of the 11 species of Impatiens. Logistic regression model analysis was performed to quantify the effects of phylogeny and environment on SDS. Results identified a significant phylogenetic SDS signal in the Impatiens species. Furthermore, elevation and phylogeny accounted for 63.629% of the total variation in SDS among the Impatiens populations. The best logistic model indicated that temperature was the main factor influencing variation in SDS among the Impatiens species, and model residuals were significantly correlated with phylogeny, but not with elevation. Our results indicated that seed dormancy is phylogenetically conserved, and climate drives elevational patterns of SDS variation in mountain ecosystems. Green tea, which is non-fermented, has the longest production history in China and the rest of the world. Due to the unique processing techniques, green tea has the lowest concentration of volatile compounds, and the aroma quality of green tea is endowed with pure, pleasant and long-lasting characteristics. Not all of the volatile compounds detected in green tea contribute to the aroma profile, the key odorants that do contribute can be identified by odor activity values (OAVs) and/or flavor dilution (FD) factors. The aim of this review is to summarize the key odorants that have been identified in green tea and discuss the biochemical pathways involved in their formation. Key findings and conclusions : The extraction and identification methods have great effects on the measured composition and concentration of tea volatile compounds. It is therefore important to develop an appropriate combination of analytical-instrumental method to comprehensively improve our understanding of tea volatile compound profiles. The representative key odorants in green tea that have been identified to date are ketones (β -ionone, 3-methylnonane-2,4-dione, (Z)-1,5-octadien-3-one, and coumarin), alcohols (linalool and geraniol), aldehydes (hexanal, nonanal, decanal, octanal, phenyl acetaldehyde, (E , E)-2,4-nonadienal, and vanillin), heterooxygenates (4-hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-3(2 H)-furanone), nitrogenous compounds (indole), sulfide compounds (dimethyl sulfide), and phenols (2-methoxyphenol). The Central Plains of China is ideal for studying the interplay between agricultural production and social complexity. Focusing on four sites (Wangchenggang, Chengyao, Wadian, and Xinzhai) dating to the Late Longshan (2200–1900 BCE) in the Central Plains, the present study described species identification results of charred crop seeds at each site and then carried out carbon and nitrogen stable isotope analyses of 55 samples consisting of 456 cereal grains and soybeans. Our results suggest the different landforms were exploited in the Central Plains during the Late Longshan period, with foxtail millet (Setaria italica), common millet (Panicum miliaceum), rice (Oryza sativa), and soybean (Glycine max) being favorably cultivated in lands with different geographic features. We also propose the practice of millet and rice manure in the region. Furthermore, the inhabitants at centralized settlements such as Wadian seemed to have differed in their ability to procure and consume the better-manured millets and rice, an indication that crop foods and social status may be intertwined. While the implications of our isotopic study are constrained by the small sample size, our data are broadly compatible with the hypothesis that the diversified agricultural system contributes to the formation of institutionalized inequality. Multi-factor risk assessment is an important prerequisite for water quality protection and the safe operation of mega hydro-projects. As the largest long-distance inter-basin water diversion project in the world, the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project of China (MRSNWDPC) has been in operation for 8 years and has benefited 79 million people along the canal. However, concerns have been raised in recent years about the potential negative effects of abnormal algal proliferation in the MRSNWDPC. It is very important for the safety of water supply to carry out relevant risk analysis and formulate regulatory management. In order to quantitatively evaluate the risk of algal proliferation in the MRSNWDPC under the influence of multiple factors, a multivariate risk assessment method based on Vine Copula theory and Monte Carlo simulation was proposed. Five key factors (water temperature, flow velocity, flow rate, algal cell density, and dissolved oxygen) were used and multiple dependency models in each section of the MRSNWDPC from January 2016 to January 2019 were established to study the risk of algal proliferation under multiple scenarios. The results demonstrate that water temperature can be used as an appropriate early-warning indicator of algal proliferation. The early-warning interval (unit: °C) of water temperature in the upper, middle, and lower reaches are 26–29°C, 23–26°C, and 21–23°C, respectively. Unlike bivariate analysis, the multiple dependency model describes the relationship between variables more accurately and enriches the scenarios of multiple conditional probabilities. When the water temperature fluctuates in the early-warning interval, regulating the upstream, midstream, and downstream flow velocity to be higher than 0.6 m/s, 0.5 m/s, and 0.6 m/s, respectively, can effectively reduce the risk of algal proliferation. This research not only provides a reference for the ecological control of algae in the MRSNWDPC and similar mega hydro-projects but also enriches the application of the Vine Copula theory coupled with the random sampling method for multi-variable risk analysis. Cimicifuga dahurica (C. dahurica) is an important medicinal plant in the northern region of China. The best supplemental light environment helps plant growth, development, and metabolism. In this study, we used two-year-old seedlings as experimental materials. The white light as the control (CK). The different ratios of red (R) and blue (B) combined light were supplemented (T1, 2R: 1B, 255.37 μmol m−2·s−1; T2, 3R: 1B, 279.69 μmol m−2·s−1; T3, 7R: 1B, 211.16 μmol m−2·s−1). The growth characteristics, photosynthetic pigment content, photosynthesis and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, and primary metabolite content were studied in seedlings. The results showed that: 1) The fresh weight from shoot, root, and total fresh weight were significantly (P < 0.05) increased under T2 and T3 treatment. 2) The contents of chlorophyll a (Chl a) , chlorophyll b (Chl b), and total chlorophyll (Chl) were significantly (P < 0.05) increased under T2 treatment, and carotenoid (car) content was reduced. 3) The photochemical quenching (qP), the actual photosynthetic efficiency of PSII (Y(II)), and the photosynthetic electron transfer rate (ETR) from leaves were significantly (P < 0.05) increased under T1 treatment. The Net photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs), intercellular CO 2 concentration (Ci), and transpiration rate (Tr) were significantly (P < 0.05) increased under T2 and T3 treatments. 4) A total of 52 primary metabolites were detected in C. dahurica leaves. Compared with CK, 14, 15, and 18 differential metabolites were screened under T1, T2, and T3 treatments. In addition, D-xylose, D-glucose, glycerol, glycolic acid, and succinic acid were significantly (P < 0.05) accumulated under the T2 treatment, which could regulate the TCA cycle metabolism pathway. The correlation analysis suggested that plant growth was promoted by regulating the change of D-mannose content in galactinol metabolism and amino sugar and nucleotide sugar metabolism. Aniline antioxidants (ANs) are widely used as industrial chemicals in products composed of rubber. ANs originate mainly from vehicles, where tire wear particles end up in dust and soil after being deposited on roads. Nowadays, limited information is available on the fate and seasonal variation of ANs in the road environment. In this study, we investigated the occurrence of 32 ANs in dust and soil from different road environments, including road dust, garage dust, parking lot dust, and green-belt soil. The total concentrations of ANs were 369 ng g−1 in road dust, 712 ng g−1 in garage dust, and 687 ng g−1 in parking lot dust. These concentrations are several times higher than that in green-belt soil (128 ng g−1). The highest concentrations of N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N′-phenyl-1,4-phenylenediamine (6PPD) were found in dust and soil. Furthermore, notable seasonal differences were observed, with significantly higher concentrations of ANs in autumn than those in spring. In the main urban area, roads with high traffic volume exhibited higher concentrations of ANs than those with low traffic volume, indicating that ANs were produced by vehicle-related sources. Greenhouse horticulture, a sustainable alternative to conventional horticulture, maximises resource use and return for vegetable production. This study evaluated the impact of varying nutrient solution electrical conductivity (EC) levels (EC 1.8, 2.8, and 3.8) on eggplant cultivars (Solanum melongena L. cv. Lydia, and Tracey) performance and economic viability in high-tech glasshouses. We found that morphological traits such as plant height and leaf number were consistent across EC levels, while fruit weight, length, and width are significantly higher at the lowest EC (1.8). Photosynthetic rates increased significantly with rising EC levels, while other gas exchange parameters such as stomatal conductance, intrinsic water use efficiency, and vapour pressure deficit were similar for all EC levels tested. Yield analysis revealed a negative correlation between eggplant yield and increasing EC levels, with optimal yields in both eggplant varieties (0.81 and 1.14 kg m−2 week−1 in Lydia and Tracey, respectively) achieved at the lowest EC. Economic analysis highlighted that lower EC levels lead to lower operational costs and higher net profit values (NPV). Sensitivity analysis underscored the importance of wholesale price and crop yield in determining NPV, with lower EC levels offering a shorter payback period of approximately 6 years in Australia and China and higher economic returns. Xinyang Maojian (XYMJ) green tea is one of the top ten teas in China, and the consumers prefer spring tea due to its umami taste and pleasurable aroma. However, the knowledge about temporal variation of the volatile compounds in XYMJ green teas harvested during different seasons is very limited. In the present work, the main non-volatile compounds that endowed the taste and volatile compounds responsible for the aroma in XYMJ green teas harvested during the spring and autumn seasons were determined. The average contents of free amino acids (FAA) were significantly higher and gradually declined in the spring teas, whereas the caffeine was significantly lower and gradually increased in the spring teas. A total of 39 volatile compounds of six chemical classes were detected in XYMJ green teas, and they displayed various change trends during the spring and autumn seasons, among which 15 volatile compounds were identified as the key odorants based on odor activity value (OAV). The highest OAV of 2195.05 was calculated for the violet-like smelling trans-β-ionone followed by decanal, nonanal, dimethyl sulfide, linalool, geraniol and naphthalene. The OAVs of geraniol, (Z)-3-hexenyl hexanoate, heptanal, benzaldehyde and hexanal in XYMJ spring teas were higher than XYMJ autumn teas. The hierarchical clustering analysis indicated that XYMJ green teas were divided into three clusters and the quality of XYMJ green teas changed greatly within spring season. Purpose: Previous studies revealed that informal caregivers for persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) experience perceived caregiver burden. Although Liangshan prefecture is one of the areas with the fastest growing HIV/AIDS epidemics in China, little is known about burden of informal caregivers for PLWHA. This study aimed to evaluate caregiver burden and these predictors among informal caregivers of PLWHA in Liangshan prefecture, China. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted from August to December 2017. We used convenience sampling to recruit informal caregivers of PLWHA. A total of 222 participants completed questionnaires including demographic information, caregiving-related information, and caregiver burden (measured by Zarit Burden Interview, ZBI). SPSS software was used to analyze the data. Independent student's t-test, one-way analysis of variance (one-way ANOVA), Spearman rank correlation, and multiple linear regression analysis were performed. Results: The mean ZBI score was 40.61 (SD = 14.47), and 199 (89.6%) informal caregivers had a mild or above caregiver burden. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that older age (P=0.003), caregivers with poor health (P=0.002), parent-caregivers (P=0.001), poorer ability in 'balancing caregiving needs and their own needs' (P< 0.001), and 'managing emotional needs' (P=0.014) were significantly associated with higher level of caregiver burden. Conclusion: The majority of informal caregivers had perceived caregiver burden in Liangshan prefecture of China. Findings emphasize that health-care providers, medical institutions and government should develop educational programs and policy to improve caregiver's ability to cope with caregiving for PLWHA, and take more attention to caregivers with health problem, at older age, parent-caregivers. A mafic granulite with relatively simple mineralogy and texture from the Miyun Complex in the northern part of the North China Craton is used to discuss the effect of bulk composition uncertainty determined by different techniques [X-ray fluorescence (XRF), mapping, and point counting] on the calculated phase diagrams. LA-ICP-MS U–Pb dating of zircon from this mafic granulite yields magmatic ages of ~ 2.5–2.45 Ga and metamorphic overprinting ages of ~ 1.8 Ga, consistent with previous results. Based on phase equilibrium modelling, we show that the topological relations of the P–T pseudo-sections calculated from the XRF and point-counting compositions are similar except for the K-feldspar and Fe–Ti oxide stability fields and that the mineral stability fields in the P–T pseudo-section calculated from the mapping composition are distinctly different from the others. Furthermore, the observed and calculated mineral compositions (XAn in plagioclase) and mineral proportions (garnet and plagioclase) are matched in the P–T pseudo-section calculated from the point-counting composition, but these are mismatched in the P–T pseudo-section calculated from the mapping composition. For the P–T pseudo-section calculated from the XRF composition, mineral composition isopleths can further constrain the narrow P–T conditions but the observed and calculated mineral proportions do not match. Moreover, we obtain similar T conditions using geo-thermometers (Ti-in-amphibole, two-feldspar, and REE-in-Grt-Cpx geo-thermometers). In addition, we calculated the uncertainties (of the phase-in/out lines and the mineral-proportions and -compositions isopleths) on the thermodynamic modelling and discussed the main source of uncertainties in detail. According to the supporting problems of the rockburst in coal mine which cannot be effectively dealt with by current support theories and methods, two new support methods that increasing support stiffness and rapid energy-absorption support were proposed, based on studying of surrounding rocks and support dynamic response in the rockburst. Hydraulic support, which consists of high strength bracket beams and powerful working resistance props, was proposed to be applied to increase support stiffness; whereas foam metal materials and energy-absorption components which are able to absorb energy rapidly in a stable manner, were exploited to form an organic and anti-impact supporting system in collaboration with other rigid supports. Objective: To explore the characteristics of refractory RA and its contributory factors based on the understanding of the rheumatologists of China. Methods: A national cross-sectional survey was performed in 32 provinces across China, and 1381 rheumatologists were recruited. Information about the sociodemographic background, refractory RA characteristics, and contributory factors was collected using a pre-made questionnaire including fourteen single-choice and four multiple-choice questions, respectively. Each of the single-choice and multiple-choice question had several items. Results: In response to the single-choice questions regarding the definition of refractory RA, 52.28% responded that "the 28 joint disease activity score-erythrocyte sedimentation rate (DAS28-ESR) > 5.1 with presence of signs suggestive of inflammatory disease" is characteristic of refractory RA, whereas 50.18% opined that "If target was not achieved with 2 conventional synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (csDMARDs) combined with 1 biological or 1 targeted synthetic DMARD (b/tsDMARD), over a total of 3~6 months" should be considered refractory RA. In addition, 39.32% rheumatologists were in favor of inability to taper glucocorticoids (GCs) ≤ 10mg prednisone or equivalent daily. Additional features considered characteristics of refractory RA were extra-articular manifestations (84.94%), interfering comorbidities (76.32%), and radiographic progression (71.83%). Among the contributory factors, 92.03% considered infection, and interstitial lung disease was chosen by 90.95%, vasculitis by 82.26%, osteoporosis by 70.67%, and fibromyalgia syndrome by 70.38%. Conclusions: Our survey has demonstrated a variety of concepts of refractory RA among the rheumatologists of China. Disease activity assessment, treatment options, interfering comorbidities, and radiological progression all were associated with the characteristics of refractory RA. This study explores the relationships between teacher empowerment, teacher receptivity toward, and perceived outcomes of, a system-wide curriculum change, particularly national curriculum reform in basic education in China. The results of a survey of 1,646 teachers from six provinces indicate that teachers were positive in their receptivity and perception of reform outcomes in general. Female teachers reported that they were more empowered and more receptive to the curriculum reform. Teachers' professional growth was found to enhance the perceived outcomes of curriculum reform, whereas their participation in decision making reflected a negative influence. Objectives: To summarize our pioneering surgical practice and clinical outcome of Crowe type III‐IV developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) with a direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty in a single teaching hospital in Southwest China. Methods: Fourteen patients (15 hips) diagnosed with Crowe type III‐IV developmental dysplasia of the hip were involved in this single‐center retrospective study between 2016 and 2018. A comprehensive surgical procedure, including preoperative planning and algorithms for leg length equalization, intraoperative stepwise soft tissue release, bone defect reconstruction, and an innovative subtrochanteric osteotomy, was described. Furthermore, advancements in intraoperative CT guidance, computer navigation, and nerve monitoring were available for specific demands. The short‐term clinical outcome was evaluated at the endpoint of follow‐up by three patient‐reported functional scales (Harris, WOMAC, and SF‐12 scores), and objective data collected at the clinic, including functional recovery (muscle strength of hip flexor and abductor, correction of the pelvic tilt, leg length discrepancy, and limp), radiographic analysis, and complication occurrence. Results: The intraoperative variables were carefully recorded. The mean operating times in Crowe type III and IV groups were 115.8 min and 156.2 min, and the median blood loss volumes were 520.5 mL and 810.2 mL, respectively. The general changes in the Harris, SF‐12, and WOMAC scores of the two groups were 46.2, 8.7 and 134.3, respectively, at a mean follow‐up of 25.4 months. Enhanced recovery of hip abductor muscle strength was identified in 85.7% of the population at the third postoperative month. The equalization of leg length and correction of the pelvic tile were observed at the sixth postoperative month, with a 36‐mm decrease in leg length discrepancy. No radiographic evidence of the loosening or migration of the components was observed. A self‐innovated subtrochanteric shortening osteotomy was performed in five patients, and they healed after 6 months. Specific complications included two cases of distal femoral cracks and one case of a periprosthetic fracture needing internal fixation. Two patients received a late iliotibial band release at the 3rd month postoperatively due to progressive genu valgum. No records of infection, dislocation, nerve palsy, bone non‐union, or revision surgery were identified. Discussion The direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty showed potential advantages, including optimum component positioning, improved hip stability, steerable complication rate, and enhanced functional recovery with Crowe type III‐IV DDH. To constrain the processes of mantle–crust interactions during magma generation and reconstruct the tectonic evolution of the Paleo-Asian Ocean, we present an integrated study involving detailed geological field work, petrological observations, zircon U–Pb–Hf isotope analyses, whole-rock geochemistry, and mineral chemistry for the Tayuan Complex in the northern Great Xing'an Range, NE China. The Tayuan Complex is composed mainly of monzogranites (host granitoids) and gabbros with minor amounts of quartz monzonites, and microgranular enclaves (MMEs) are unevenly distributed within the host granitoids. Our new zircon U-Pb dating results show that the host granitoids were emplaced during the late Carboniferous (318 ± 4 Ma and 319 ± 2 Ma). The MMEs yield similar zircon U-Pb ages of 320 ± 2 Ma and 322 ± 5 Ma, within error of the emplacement ages of the host granitoids. In this study, the petrological and geochemical features of the Tayuan Complex indicate disequilibrium conditions, and we favor a magma mixing model to explain the genesis of various rock types within the complex. Combined with the petrological and geochemical observations, we suggest that the host granitoids can be ascribed to felsic end-member and they originated from the partial melting of the Meso–Neoproterozoic medium- to high-K basaltic lower crust. According to the petrological and geochemical features, the gabbros in Tayuan complex are closely related to the mafic end-member, and we conclude that they were derived from the partial melting of depleted mantle that was metasomatized by subducted slab-derived fluids, and that clinopyroxene, hornblende and Fe-Ti oxides were fractionated during magma generation. The MMEs and coeval quartz monzonites in Tayuan complex represent the mixing of felsic and mafic end-member magmas. Our new data, combined with the spatial distribution and temporal evolution of the Carboniferous magmatism in the Great Xing'an Range, indicate the generation of the late Carboniferous Tayuan complex was related to the northwestward subduction of the Paleo-Asian oceanic plate. Purpose: High on-treatment platelet reactivity (HTPR) after clopidogrel administration in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) has been associated with an increased risk of adverse events. Our previous studies reported that half-dose ticagrelor provides a similar inhibitory effect on adenosine diphosphate (ADP)–induced platelet aggregation as standard-dose ticagrelor, but half-dose of ticagrelor has not been studied in Chinese ACS patients with HTPR. This study aimed to compare the antiplatelet action of half-dose ticagrelor with high-dose clopidogrel in ACS patients with HTPR. Methods: In this single-center randomized controlled trial, 80 (of 418 screened, 19.13%) ACS patients with HTPR while on clopidogrel were randomized to either half-dose ticagrelor (90 mg LD, then 45 mg twice daily) or high-dose clopidogrel (150 mg once daily). Platelet function was assessed by thromboelastography (TEG) and light transmission aggregometry (LTA), and adverse events were monitored throughout the study for 30 days. Results: The ADP-induced platelet inhibition rate (IR) as measured by TEG was significantly higher for half-dose ticagrelor compared with high-dose clopidogrel (70.40% [61.10%–91.70%] vs. 44.25% [34.67%–79.07%], p = 0.001). The repeated HTPR rate was dramatically higher for high-dose clopidogrel compared with half-dose ticagrelor (6 of 32, 18.75% vs. 1 of 35, 2.85%; p = 0.04). No patients in either treatment group exhibited a major bleeding event or other adverse events. The world's longest trans-basin water diversion project, the Middle-Route (MR) of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project of China (SNWDPC), has officially been in operation for over 5 years since December 2014. Its water quality status has always attracted special attention because it is related to the health and safety of more than 58 million people and the integrity of an ecosystem covering more than 155,000 km2. This study presented and analysed the spatio-temporal variations and trends of 16 water quality parameters, including pH, water temperature (WT), dissolved oxygen (DO), permanganate index (PI), five-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD 5), fecal coliform (F. coli), total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), ammonia nitrogen (NH 3 −N), sulphate (SO 4 2−), fluoride (F−), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As), selenium (Se), copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn), which were determined monthly from samples collected at 27 water quality monitoring stations in the MR of the SNWDPC from March 2016 to February 2019. The water quality index (WQI) was used to evaluate the seasonal and spatial water quality changes during the monitoring period, and a new WQI min model consisting of five crucial parameters, i.e., TP, F. coli, Hg, WT, and DO, was built by using stepwise multiple linear regression analysis. The results demonstrated that the water quality status of the MR of the SNWDPC has been steadily maintained at an "excellent" level during the monitoring period, with an overall average WQI value of 90.39 and twelve seasonal mean WQI values ranging from 87.67 to 91.82. The proposed WQI min model that uses the selected five key parameters and the weights of those parameters has exhibited excellent performance in the water quality assessment of the project, with the coefficient of determination (R2), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and Percentage Error (PE) values of 0.901, 2.21, 1.93%, respectively, showing that the proposed WQI min model is a useful and efficient tool to evaluate and manage the water quality. For the management department, the risk sources near certain stations with abnormally high values should be carefully inspected and strictly managed to maintain excellent water quality. The potential risks of algae proliferation in this project should be of concern in future research. Immune monotherapy as second-line treatment confers only modest survival benefit on non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with no mutated driver genes, necessitating combination treatment strategies. This phase Ib trial investigated the efficacy and safety of anti-PD-L1 antibody TQB2450 plus antiangiogenic drug anlotinib for NSCLC. Pretreated stage IIIB or IV NSCLC patients with wild-type EGFR/ALK and minimally one measurable lesion were randomized 1:1:1 to receive TQB2450 1200 mg plus placebo, or TQB2450 1200 mg plus anlotinib 10 or 12 mg. The primary outcome was progression-free survival (PFS) and the secondary outcomes included objective response rate (ORR). Thirty-three patients received TQB2450 plus placebo and 34 patients each received TQB2450 plus anlotinib 10 mg and 12 mg. At the data cutoff, the median PFS was 8.7 months (95% CI 6.1–17.1) in the TQB2450 plus anlotinib group and 2.8 months (95% CI 1.4–4.7) in the TQB2450 only group. The ORR reached 30.9% (95% CI 20.2%-43.3%) in the TQB2450 plus anlotinib group and was 3.0% (95% CI 0.1%-15.8%) in the TQB2450 only group. In patients with PD-L1 ≥ 1%, the ORR was 50.0% (95% CI 33.4%-66.6%) for TQB2450 plus anlotinib and 5.3% (95% CI 0.1%-26.0%) for TQB2450 plus placebo. No new safety signals were observed. Anlotinib plus TQB2450 demonstrated promising antitumor activities in advanced NSCLC patients without EGFR and ALK alterations and the toxicities were overall manageable. Background: To determine the associations of reduced presenting visual acuity (VA), refractive errors and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in healthy adolescents in rural China.Methods: A total of 2,235 grade 7 students without systemic medical problems from 10 middle schools aged 13-14 years in Mojiang, a small county located in southwestern China, were included in the analysis. Reduced VA was defined as presenting VA of worse than 6/12 in the presence of an ophthalmic aetiology which could be identified. The refractive status of each participant was measured after cycloplegia using an autorefractor. The Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory Version 4.0 Generic Core Scales was used for measuring HRQoL of the participants.Results: Among all the participants included in the data analysis, 279 (12.5 per cent) individuals were affected by reduced VA based on the better-seeing eye data. After adjusting for the effect of gender, body mass index, the education level of the father, and the use of a corrective device, the total (adjusted mean difference: -3.27; 95 per cent confidence interval [CI] -4.95 to -1.59; p = 0.01), social functioning (adjusted mean difference: -3.44; 95 per cent CI -5.87 to -1.01; p = 0.02) and school functioning scores (adjusted mean difference: -3.12; 95 per cent CI -5.89 to -0.35; p = 0.04) of the adolescents with reduced presenting VA were significantly lower compared with those with normal vision. The associations between corrected refractive errors and HRQoL were not significant.Conclusions: Healthy adolescents with reduced VA reported lower HRQoL scores including total, social functioning and school functioning scores, compared with those with normal vision. This examination of minor and serious delinquency among eighth graders in a large southern Chinese city, Guangzhou, also compared groups of these students, observing differences between the delinquency of migrants and that of urban natives. Data used were originally collected for the study "Stuck in the City: Migration and Delinquency Among Migrant Adolescents in Guangzhou." The present study asked whether and how various sources of strain and social control factors explained students' delinquency, questioning how meaningfully migration status moderated several of the observed delinquency relationships. Of students in the sample, 741 reported being natives of Guangzhou, and 497 reported migrating to Guangzhou from a rural area. The study conceptualized internal migration as a strain factor leading to delinquency, but the analyses did not suggest direct association between internal migration and delinquency. Ferns are one of the prevalent species of wild edible plants but one of the least explored terrestrial plants. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the nutrient composition, polyphenol profile and antioxidative properties of four wild edible ferns commonly utilized in northeastern China. We studied the content of ash, polysaccharide, protein, fat and mineral elements of the samples. Furthermore, the samples were found to have good total phenolic and total flavonoid contents and some level of antioxidant capacity as determined by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline) 6-sufonic acid (ABTS) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP). They also exhibited different specific accumulation of polyphenol profiles, estimated by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS). Significance analysis revealed a significant correlation between individual phenolic compounds and the antioxidant activity of the ferns. Purpose To determine the prevalence, types and awareness of glaucoma in a rural community in China and to examine possible ethnic variations. Methods The Yunnan Minority Eye Study was a multi-ethnic community-based eye survey using random cluster sampling strategies. 2133 Bai, 2205 Han and 2208 Yi Chinese aged 50 years or older participated in this study. Glaucoma including primary open-angle glaucoma ( POAG), primary angle-closure glaucoma ( PACG) and secondary glaucoma was defined based on the International Society of Geographical and Epidemiological Ophthalmology criteria. Results The overall age-standardized prevalence of all glaucoma was 2.6% (95% confidence interval [ CI]: 2.2-3.1%) in this population. It was 1.8% (95% CI: 1.1-1.9%) for POAG and 0.5% (95% CI: 0.9-1.6%) for PACG, respectively. Among 29 people with secondary glaucoma, 27 (93%) were blind in at least one eye. The presence of primary open-angle glaucoma was associated with male gender (odds ratio [ OR] = 2.94; comparing men with women), Yi ethnicity ( OR = 2.27; comparing Yi with Han people), higher IOP ( OR = 1.09 per mmHg increase), and the presence of myopia ( OR = 1.84). Of the 212 participants with glaucoma, only 38 (18%) were aware of the disease and had been diagnosed previously as having glaucoma or suspected glaucoma. Patients who were better educated tended to be aware of the disease. Conclusions Significant ethnic difference in the prevalence of POAG was observed in this study. Objective To determine whether there have been any changes in the causes and management of urethral strictures in China. Patients and Methods The data from 4 764 men with urethral stricture disease who underwent treatment at 13 medical centres in China between 2005 and 2010 were retrospectively collected. The databases were analysed for the possible causes, site and treatment techniques for the urethral stricture, as well as for changes in the causes and management of urethral strictures. Results The most common cause of urethral strictures was trauma, which occurred in 2 466 patients (51.76%). The second most common cause was iatrogenic injures, which occurred in 1 643 patients (34.49%). The most common techniques to treat urethral strictures were endourological surgery (1 740, 36.52%), anastomotic urethroplasty (1 498, 31.44%) and substitution urethroplasty (1 039, 21.81%). A comparison between the first 3 years and the last 3 years showed that the constituent ratio of endourological surgery decreased from 54% to 32.75%, whereas the constituent ratios of anastomotic urethroplasty and substitution urethroplasty increased from 26.73% and 19.18% to 39.93% and 27.32%, respectively ( P < 0.05). Conclusions During recent years, there has been an increase in the incidence of urethral strictures caused by trauma and iatrogenic injury.
