Whenever the word ‘feminism’ is used in any issue, the main purpose is to show the equality of sexes through movements or ideologies. Interestingly, Bollywood in the past year has taken the definition to a level that demands equality among families seeking a literate bride for their less-educated son. Referring to India known for its democracy and women empowerment, the bride has the option of being a working woman but cannot tarnish the family’s image by establishing herself in the factories or companies dealing with condom production. The reason behind it is ‘You are a Woman’! Movies namely ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’ released in 2022 and ‘Chhatriwali’ released in 2023 were taken for understanding the depiction of the feminist approach in such fictitious works. Nushrratt Bharuccha plays the role of the actress in the former film while Rakul Preet Singh is in the latter. Both are shown on ZEE5. The research problems concentrated on situations where these women are underestimated to be associated with condom-based factories and then how they proved that the job designated to them is truly meant for health and social awareness among people of all age groups irrespective of gender. Interference and cooperation of men in the family and workplace were seen in both these research problems apart from women’s involvement in the lead character’s existence. The case study was the research method for it is the common qualitative research technique and uses data sources as possible to systematically investigate individuals, groups, organizations, or events. The Heuristic characteristic of the case study method was adapted specifically to help people to understand what’s being studied. Further, Focus Group was also adapted. Feminist Film Theory and Lasswell Formula were connected to this secondary study for theoretical reference. Purposive sampling from non-probability sampling was followed to conduct the study. The research helped in understanding how Bollywood films identify the root cause of social and health problems which are generally not discussed out of shame or hesitation and come out with a solution that denizens can adopt in their daily lives. Indian film industry is one of the biggest film industries in the world which produces highest number of movies every year. Indian media and film industry overwhelmingly link Islam and Muslims with terrorism. Especially since 9/11 attacks, the Bollywood have portrayed the Muslims in stereotypically negative way. After the 9/11 incident, Muslims have been constructed as distrustful people, terrorists, and antagonists. The study at hand was set out to identify the overall dimension and nature of portrayal of Indian Muslims in the Bollywood. For the purpose the researcher opted convenient sampling as a tool of data collection and quantitative content analysis along with SPSS was used as data analysis technique. Bollywood movies, released during the year 2016 with Muslims as prominent characters in it, were selected as ample to be studied. The results indicated that majority of the movie contents contained negative and stereotypical image of Indian Muslims. The two movies about The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012 and 2015) were directed by John Madden. Starring a cast of famous British older actors, the narratives are set in a faded hotel in India. These are individuals who have relocated because their retirement dreams cannot be realised in their home country. They reflect the growing phenomenon of international retirement migration (IRM): the quickly growing upsurge of financially independent individuals seeking an affordable old age. In India they can claim a position of relative comfort and privilege. For a generation that grew up in a consumerist culture, upward mobility in the senior life stage has become a purchasable commodity through exodus to a developing country. This generation of retirees is generally in better health compared with prior seniors, with a longer life expectancy. Many have a background of travel experience, and an ethos that places their own pleasures in life as pivotal. While global numbers are unavailable, it is estimated that there are millions of retirees relocating to less-developed countries for an affordable retirement. At retirement locations such as the Marigold Hotel, the discrepancies that continue between nations, and local poverty, enable this practice. The Indian motion picture industry has experienced phenomenal growth during the last few decades and plays an important role in emerging economy of India. This paper integrates three analytical models in order to address the intriguing problem of revenue prediction of movies in Indian film industry. The paper attempts to investigate the determinants leading to the success of indigenous movies in Indian context. Ensemble model has been constructed by integrating the three analytical models (Neural Network, Classification and Regression Tree and Robust Regression) using linear optimization approach. Further, a four-way comparative analysis of these three models along with Ensemble model has been carried out. The predictive power of the models has been evaluated using four performance metrics namely root mean squared error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and large prediction error (LPE). Analyzing novel and original data of 120 Indian movies released during the period August’06-October’15, this paper inspects the nitty-gritties of Indian film industry and seeks to explain the nuances. The study revealed that factors like hype generated on web by a movie, screens on which the movie is released, rating garnered by movie and its genre are the most influential variables in deciding the box-office performance of a movie. Further we observed, that the neural network model closely competes with ensemble model in terms of predictive accuracy. Indian cinema, affectionately known as Bollywood, is hugely influential in shaping social attitudes in Indian subcontinent and many other parts of the world. However, the extent to which Bollywood movies have played a responsible role in reinforcing societal attitudes towards mental illness and treatment modalities such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is unknown. The objective of this study was to identify how ECT is portrayed in Bollywood movies and how these movies are perceived by the public and film critics. Also to understand socio-cultural influences on how movies are made and to find if there are cross-cultural influences of Hollywood movies on Indian movies by comparing movies that depict ECT. After identifying Bollywood and Hollywood movies with mental health themes, we qualitatively reviewed movie plots for the portrayal of ECT. Main outcome measures identified were: type of attitude towards the ECT (sympathetic, comical, hostile, condescending etc.), accuracy of the portrayal of ECT and attribution of justification of ECT (e.g. punishment, social control, beneficial medical). The key findings of the study were that attitudes towards mental illness and ECT in Indian cinema paralleled broader political and socio-economic trends in Indian society. Like Hollywood, portrayal of ECT in Indian movies is often fictional, exaggerated and scientifically inaccurate. We conclude that outdated and inaccurate depictions of ECT in movies are still a source of misinformation about ECT for the general public as well as among medical professionals. Therefore, collaboration between mental health sector, film and television industries and film censorship boards is essential in exploring the potential for educating and informing clinical realities about mental illnesses and ECT. This article examines significant evidence of recent Bollywood influence on the Western movie industry, particularly Hollywood, and explores the implications of such developments in the context of globalisation. Within the ongoing globalisation of entertainment, a process that does not automatically lead to cultural Westernisation and uniformisation, Bollywood has by now become both a symbol of Indian cinema’s circulation all over the world and the embodiment of non-monolithic globalisation. Bollywood is evidently not a homogenising influence that forces non-Indian cultures to embrace its cinematographic or musical norms and practices. Rather, it creates new hybrids. The article offers a framework for explaining the growing cultural and economic changes and movements of such non-hegemonic spreading of popular culture and identifies future agenda for research. It is important for language teachers and students in multilingual societies to know when, why and with whom a language should be chosen. In this way teachers and students can make links between their linguistic repertoire and the discourse norms of the various interlocutors in such a diverse society. Those with limited language proficiency when speaking to someone who speak a different language might have to use various communicative strategies acquired from their first language to compensate for their lack of proficiency in their speech partner's language. This paper describes the communicative strategies in interactions as used in the movie Slumdog Millionaire to show how an audience outside India, could actually understand the movie which is not entirely in English. This paper shows how a diverse audience who can speak English but not Hindi are able to negotiate meanings through the dialogues which display the use of unique communicative strategies. Learners and teachers can learn from movies such as Slumdog Millionaire and become sociolinguistically competent in a multilingual society. This article proposes a structure for personalized promotions in multiplexes using RFM (Recency, Frequency, and Monetary Value) Analysis, predictive modeling, and optimization at different stages. The stiff competition in the multiplex industry in India makes it essential for the players to have a good loyalty program. One effective way for increasing loyalty would be to introduce personalized promotions for the customers. This would make the promotion more targeted towards the needs of the customers and would keep them involved. One major challenge in implementing any personalized promotion is to have a good and efficient structure for the same. Movies may be considered a very powerful medium of entertainment, and at the same time they offer insights into various aspects of human behavior. Psychologists in the West have been observing different aspects of psychology in the movies- social behavior, psychological disorders, etc. Also, the advent of Positive Psychology marks an interesting shift in perspective as far as research in the field of psychology is concerned, and therefore has had some impact in the area of movies as well. Positive psychologists have been doing some research in the area of films, Niemiec, a psychologist practising in St. Louis being the fore runner.
