The article presents research results on eight latin-american digital experiences, understood as belonging to independent journalism. The objective was to understand the emergence of a new cultural form, resulting from the region's territorial processes. The research bases itself on the Culture Studies and considers central the concept of cultural form, from Raymond Williams (1979). It goes through the productive process of the eight sites through the methodological protocol of the culture circuit, from Richard Johnson (2010). The results point towards the emergence of a cultural form, whose matrices are in both alternative and traditional journalism, a result of historical processes that generate a practice and product with particular characteristics. This article analyzes counter-hegemonic struggles in the face of the 21st century extractivism offensive in Latin America. First, it examines the emergence of a new generation of social movements against neoliberalism and subsequently against extractivism, shaped by the affected communities in alliance with a variety of subaltern groups that express the displacement of struggles towards the place for the reproduction and existence of life: the territory. In this context, the current Colombian scenario is presented, where one of the main banners of the new progressive government is the gradual de-escalation of the extractivist model within the framework of environmental justice, as an expression of an alternative hegemony. Finally, the paper highlights some of the main challenges of the struggle between capital and life in the face of the resurgence of extractivism in times of war, a socially and ecologically unsustainable model and one of the main obstacles in the construction of peace. We propose, in this writing, to reflect on a didactics that questions received inheritances and understand it in the framework of the Latin American pedagogies Simón Rodríguez, José Martí and Paulo Freire. From there, understanding that teaching is located at the centre of a socio-political system that contributes to community autonomy and awareness, we think of a didactics centred on that political project, in favour of caring for others who remain voiceless, in connection with the territory, with real social problems, and capable of co-designing teaching proposals from decolonial perspectives that offer possibilities of deconstructing hegemonic thinking and constructing new epistemologies. The article presents an exercise of reflection, whose purpose is to question, in political, ethical and epistemic terms, the place of geographical/territorial enunciation framed in the Global South, raised from the cultural studies to the social and human sciences, in the last decade, as a conceptual axis to advance in the understanding of social phenomena. A journey is made through the notion of territory, configured as a space not limited geographically, but as a field of disputes around scientific knowledge and the symbolic configuration of the world. In particular, it explores the ways of naming what we know today as Latin America: Indoamerica, Abya-Yala, Africa and Ñamerica, with the intention of exploring how these modes of enunciation make visible new forms or other forms of knowledge that have been made invisible. This article practices a genealogy of the two dominant legal concepts in the normative relationship to land: the right to property and territorial space as an element of the State, in order to argue the need for a decolonial thesis that gives due account to the normative status of the relationship of indigenous people with land as a right to territory, starting with the case of the Mapuche people. In this context, the purpose is also to diagnose the state of the art in the conceptualization of this right both in international law and in Latin American legal systems as well as its possible intercultural reconstruction. Despite the centrality in the study of the peasantry in Latin America, for various disciplines, this category is still bound to static images of a group defined according to the State and capital. In this article, we explain the need to study the situated reality -- historically, geographically and politically -- of the individuals and groups that fit into this category of the peasantry. The issue concerning peasants is a pressing one in view of the current economic, political and socio-environmental crisis affecting large sectors of the Latin American population. This crisis is due, among other dynamics, to the advance of extractivism, the exacerbation of inequality, environmental deterioration, the dispossession of marginalized communities, and criminalization of the social movement. In order to further the critical analysis of this issue, from a historical, spatial, relational, and political perspective, we will delve into recent conceptualizations of the peasant, and into how political subjects and spatialities are mutually constructed. The globalized scenarios where the Information and knowledge society proposes us new challenges to face virtual markets, where the product is symbolic and Design must assume a communication role to respond to buyer markets. Latin American designers must take on these challenges, which implies a deep understanding of the conditions of territorial demand. These phenomena have influenced Design to change in recent years; and adapt methodologies, to favor their credibility in relation to their Social role. What has generated new paradigms that modify the way of approaching it. The design goes beyond the formal, the mere drawing or delineation of objects, and even transcends its meaning of project or plan. It must seek to insert itself into the very life of communities and individuals and give way to a new self-managed vision of the world; that empowers us all of our own destinies. Designers, we must apprehend to interpret the theoretical approaches of the new scenarios, in which the client is no longer a company, but a territory and where organizations exist as long as there are people, their system of productive relationships and their cultural expressions. In March 1841, the Comisión Argentina de Santiago was formed, originated from the efforts of Argentine exiles in Chile to support General La Madrid's rebel forces in their struggle against Rosas' armies in Cuyo Province. In May 1841, the "Commission representing Argentine emigrants residing in this country" wrote from Santiago to the governor of La Rioja with the aim of promoting a military alliance with other provinces that could free the region from the control of Rosas' allies. This is an important moment to think about the conformation of National States in Latin America in the nineteenth century, specifically the issue of territoriality. What we intend with this article is, on the one hand, to present the debates about the Argentine political configuration that took place from abroad in permanent relation with internal Argentine Confederation political agents; On the other hand, to think about the intertwining of this emigration with the Chilean local society in search of internal and external legitimacy. Responding to decades of conflict in Colombia, a social initiative known as the Legión del Afecto began in Medellín as a peacebuilding effort among academics, community leaders, and young activists. Attention to the body, particularly bodily feelings, sensations, and emotions, has been central to the peacebuilding methodology of the Legión. The initiative has used a focus on the body not only to produce alternative practices of territory that help keep people alive but also (and therein) to materialize the possibility of feeling differently within targeted spaces. What ultimately drives collective action in the Legión is the possibility for increased autonomy over spatial structures of feeling. "Who owns it?" is a surprisingly confusing question when applied to territory. Each word opens up puzzles: who can "own" territory? What is "ownership" in this context? How can it be justified in a way that could convince an outsider? These questions are particularly salient in the Latin American context, where multiple distinct kinds of land disputes converge. This paper canvasses two familiar approaches to these questions: the Kantian autochthony view, and the Lockean efficiency view. Neither view answers the question as to "who owns it" in all its complexity. The paper then defends an alternative approach grounded in recognition of diverse conceptions of land and the ways that distinct groups achieve plenitude in particular places. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article explores the concepts involved in the term territorio, the nature of its uses and the interpretations given to it by different user groups in Latin America. In so doing, the authors find that despite its ubiquitous nature, polysemic use and its hybrid conceptual construction, territorio is a specific Latin American concept that can shed light on power relationships in space, triggered by the confrontation between global forces on the one hand and local, place-based, or "territorially anchored" groups on the other. The article unfolds across two sections. The first summarizes diverse conceptualizations of space, power, and locality, which are understood to be core elements of territorio, particularly when these are linked through actions, demands, or claims of a collective. The second section approaches the thematic contexts in which territorio and its associated concepts are used: as spatial entities of jurisdictional administration, appropriation by indigenous, afro and peasant communities, political demands and social movements, control-dispossession and reconstruction, spatial entities of assets, and place-based development. We argue that an understanding of the multiple uses and interpretations of territory in Latin America does not just reveal the uniquely nuanced ways of thinking about geography in the region, but it also raises questions over the possibility of a multiple construction of key geographical concepts. In this paper I focus on societal movements against destructive expansion now in progress in Latinamerican countries. On the one hand, I point out some characteristic aspects of the logic which promotes this expansion, stressing in mechanisms to expropriate people and communities. On the other hand, I deal with some characteristic traits of societal movements, emphasizing on territorial and sacred rights alleged by communities to defend their territories. Taking in count that these process are confrontations about the alleged universality of the modern conception of nature, I ask what contribution may offer these particular movements to renew our imagination facing to challenges by global environmental crisis. This article discusses the importance of highlighting the social dimension of the notion of territory which is in vogue today in the social sciences in Latin America. The current consensus about the concept of territory as a process of social construction requires an analysis of the strategies utilized by social groups and actors within a specific social field. Public policies should consider this complex social dimension if the objective is the consolidation of inclusive social processes that can benefit less disadvantaged social groups and classes. From this perspective, it is important to analyze governance processes as spaces for the construction of collective proposals rather than simply as strategies designed to avoid social conflict. En el actual proceso de recomposición cultural, el cine ocupa un lugar privilegiado a través de los espacios de encuentro creados por el Norte para contribuir al desarrollo del cine en el Sur . El aumento de fondos de apoyo, por iniciativa de los países del Norte, que explica la buena salud relativa del cine del Sur, ilustra bien la necesaria internacionalización de las redes, un factor que contribuye a que estas películas existan en el extranjero. El cine se entiende así, como vector de identidad y como vínculo social e intercultural. A medida que las películas circulan, y que realizadores y productores se conocen, se constituye un embrión de comunidad generador de intercambios en todos los sentidos y de todo tipo. Presenciamos así la aparición de nuevas categorías: la del Sur , que conserva rastros de una asimetría geopolítica, y la de independencia, que remite a una comunidad más internacional -que supera incluso los límites geográficos nacionales- de resistencia al cine dominante. Se trata de la creación de una relación intercultural que trastoca sin duda las antiguas relaciones centro/periferia. Estos espacios de intercambio, si bien permiten, en efecto, el desarrollo de la producción cinematográfica en algunos países, constituyen repertorios administrados por el "centro". State support for the collective land titling of Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities in Latin America as part of multicultural reforms has generated concerns over the potential de-politicization of social movements participating in these processes. Scholars have sought to understand how social movements could combine a political agenda for radical change with the pragmatism of negotiating land rights with the state. This paper uses the concepts of clientelism and brokerage to analyze the process of negotiating collective land rights. A critical perspective on clientelism and brokerage suggests that cooperation with the state involves compromises, but that social movement can continue to advance their political agendas while collaborating with the state. Drawing on a case from Honduras, the paper explores how the resolution of a long-standing negotiation for collective land titling in the region of Moskitia occurred within a context in which both the state and the social movement organization needed to improve their legitimacy. By enhancing their stature with its constituents, the social movement organization strengthened its capacity to negotiate with the state. This analysis shows how social movements can wield clientelistic practices to validate their positions as brokers and to gain political capital for pursuing expansive projects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
