The article "Strategic Foresight: Designing Multiple Scenarios to Visualize an Uncertain Future" addresses the lack of long-term vision in organizations, both public and private, and how this negatively affects economic performance, the environment, and national security. Strategies and methods are suggested to alleviate this pressure, such as changes in management incentives and executive compensation, as well as the introduction of legal measures to protect the interests of future generations. However, it is recognized that accurately predicting the future is difficult due to uncertainty, which leads many organizations to prioritize "exploitation" over "exploration". In the field of national security in the United States, the lack of long-term planning is evident, despite its importance. Other countries, such as Canada, Finland, and Singapore, have more effectively incorporated strategic foresight into policy-making. The United States is lagging behind in this aspect compared to its competitors, leaving it in a situation of strategic vulnerability. Strategic foresight can help transform uncertainty into probabilistic risk and strengthen the global position of the United States. [Extracted from the article]
