Este artículo releva el estado actual de la producción científica de la IA en México con técnicas bibliométricas. Considera la especialización de la IA en seis subcampos. Como metodología, emplea los metadatos de 13 265 publicaciones, recolectados del catálogo bibliográfico OpenAlex y realiza un análisis cuantitativo de productividad con base en métricas de publicaciones, autores, citas y colaboraciones internacionales, e identifica sus principales temas de investigación y su desarrollo. Los resultados muestran una estructura científica local extensa con importantes colaboraciones internacionales. Se identifican tanto subcampos maduros, desarrollados desde hace tres décadas, que abarcan la robótica y las redes neuronales; como subcampos emergentes, desarrollados en los últimos cinco años, que comprenden el aprendizaje automático, el procesamiento del lenguaje natural y la visión por computadora. El artículo distingue aplicaciones recientes en las áreas de salud, medio ambiente, finanzas, procesamiento del lenguaje natural y acústica.

El objetivo de este trabajo es señalar el potencial de considerar a las imágenes del patrimonio cultural como objetos digitales desde la perspectiva de la polirrepresentación de la información, a través del estudio del proyecto Europeana Image Classification Pilot. El enfoque metodológico fue exploratorio-descriptivo y cualitativo de los temas concernientes al objetivo y posteriormente analizados en el proyecto de Europeana. Los resultados resaltan que, al ser tratadas como objetos digitales desde una perspectiva de la polirrepresentación, las imágenes digitales del patrimonio cultural pueden representarse con diferentes configuraciones dependiendo del contexto, bajo un carácter modular y granular que brinda las condiciones para que tales imágenes sean interpretadas en distintos niveles de interacción.

Este estudio se centra en el análisis y la conservación del documento histórico “Registros de Oficios do Governo da Paraíba ao Congresso, El Rey Príncipe Real e Ministro do Estado” de 1822, destacando su importancia para la memoria e identidad cultural. A través de una metodología cualitativa adaptada del Getty Conservation Institute (GCI), la investigación detalla una intervención de conservación en el acervo de la Biblioteca Irineu Pinto del Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Paraibano (IHGP), situado en la ciudad de João Pessoa - Paraíba, Brasil. Mediante un diagnóstico preciso, se identificaron los daños y se definieron las técnicas de tratamiento, subrayando la importancia de la conservación preventiva y la restauración en la preservación de los documentos para su uso en el futuro. El trabajo resalta la evolución de las prácticas de preservación en Brasil y la necesidad de políticas formales de conservación. Así, el estudio aporta valiosas reflexiones para los gestores de colecciones y promueve la implementación de soluciones técnicas adecuadas y sostenibles para la protección del patrimonio documental bibliográfico.

La Iglesia católica fue la institución más influyente del Imperio español, puesto que la religión permeó todas las instituciones modelando el carácter y vida de todos sus habitantes con la finalidad de formar buenos súbditos del rey a través de la educación y el culto. El objetivo principal del estudio es explicar la presencia y el uso de los libros litúrgicos y paralitúrgicos dentro del Real Seminario de Minería de la Nueva España como parte de la formación cívica y moral de los futuros peritos de minas, a través de documentación resguardada en el Palacio de Minería. La metodología es meramente histórica bibliográfica y recurro a fuentes primarias y aspectos teóricos de la liturgia para interpretar los datos apropiadamente. Como resultado se demostró que, a pesar de tratarse de una institución científica de corte ilustrado, la religión también penetró en el Real Seminario Metálico a través de dicho repertorio bibliográfico, constituido por libros presentes en todas las instituciones novohispanas y los cuales es imprescindible conocer, ya que pueden encontrarse en nuestras bibliotecas con fondos históricos.

La sociedad contemporánea se enfrenta al desafío de lidiar con el cambio climático y sus consecuencias en los ecosistemas, las dinámicas sociales y la salud mental. En este contexto han surgido estudios sobre la ansiedad generada por las preocupaciones ambientales y el cambio climático, la cual se denomina ecoansiedad. Debe mencionarse que, actualmente, existen cantidades masivas de datos o big data, las cuales han sido recopiladas y procesadas por instituciones fiables. El objetivo principal de esta investigación es comprender los niveles de ecoansiedad, preocupación y estado emocional fomentados por el acceso a cantidades masivas de datos en torno al cambio climático. La metodología utilizada es de carácter cuantitativo; usamos la Escala de ansiedad por el cambio climático de Clayton y Karazsia (2020), complementada con una Escala emocional ante el cambio climático y una Escala de preocupación ante el cambio climático. Los resultados apuntan a niveles bajos de ecoansiedad y a niveles moderados de preocupación y de estados emocionales, mientras que la dimensión de ajuste conductual es la que presenta los resultados más significativos.

Dedication to the memory of a colleague, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Valentin P. Tverdokhlebov, a well-known specialist in sedimentology and palaeogeography of the Late Permian and Triassic of the Eastern Russian Plate and Southern Urals, as well as taphonomy of vertebrate localities. Valentin Petrovich is a long-time head of the geological survey party investigating the stratigraphy of continental red-coloured strata, tectonics and placement of minerals in the Orenburg region. He co-authored a number of geological maps of the region. He participated in field work as a member of the joint Soviet-Mongolian palaeontological expedition in the Gobi Desert.

The objective of this study is to ascertain the strategies employed in mitigating fraudulent activities within the realm of health services through the utilization of a whistleblowing mechanism. Methods: The present study employed a systematic review approach to examine relevant literature by utilizing specific keywords such as "whistleblowing system" and "fraud Healthcare." These keywords were then used to search for publications in the Scopus database, focusing on journals that mostly relied on secondary data. The search was conducted using the publish or perish tool. 8. Subsequently, a curation of scholarly publications and articles was conducted, employing a criterion centered on the thematic relevance of their titles. The selected publications have the objective of mitigating fraudulent activities within the healthcare industry and other interconnected industries that contribute to research endeavors. The findings of this study suggest that the implementation of a fraud reporting system is vital inside an organization, particularly within the context of health services. To enhance the caliber of healthcare services, internal healthcare staff and participants may report well, it is imperative to establish a system that ensures the preservation of reporter confidentiality, hence facilitating an increase in the volume of reports.

Se describen a los micro-papers como formatos novedosos e incipientes para la difusión del conocimiento científico, tanto en revistas científicas como a través de otros métodos nativos del Internet (repositorios, blogs, etcétera). Planteamos la importancia de la utilización de este formato reducido de comunicación de la ciencia para transmitir ciertos tipos de hallazgos, pues presenta una condensación de la información básica en un documento breve, de fácil lectura y con amplia audiencia, sin perder la calidad propia de los trabajos científicos revisados. Para ello, se realiza un estudio descriptivo de carácter exploratorio por medio de una revisión bibliográfica que ahonda en su uso actual y experiencias previas. Concluimos que su viabilidad para la difusión de contenidos científicos concretos busca la agilidad, sin que ello implique la pérdida de la calidad en la difusión científica.

El incremento acelerado de la producción científica sobre Inteligencia Artificial requiere indagar en las tendencias y orientar a los investigadores hacia nuevos espacios de investigación. El objetivo del estudio fue analizar la producción científica sobre IA en el ámbito de las comunicaciones. Se realizó una revisión bibliométrica en la base de datos Web of Science con una metodología de cinco fases y técnicas bibliométricas diversas. Analizamos 994 documentos publicados entre 2013 y 2023. Para el análisis y visualización usamos RStudio, Bibliometrix, Microsoft Excel e IBM SPSS. Estados Unidos destaca como el país con más publicaciones y cabe mencionar que no hay representación latinoamericana entre los primeros diez países con mayor producción. El análisis temático mostró brechas y temas emergentes que pueden contribuir a la construcción de evidencia científica sobre IA en comunicaciones. Concluimos que existe una tendencia al crecimiento en la producción sobre esta temática y que la IA desde lo humano parece ser el enfoque predominante del estudio en comunicaciones. Se precisan nuevos estudios que llenen las brechas observadas y que fortalezcan tanto los temas motores, como los básicos.

A la luz del proyecto de investigación “Banco de Datos Terminológicos de las Ciencias de la Información (BDTCI). Segunda etapa: Base de Datos Terminológicos de la Bibliotecología (BDT-B)”, se hace un acercamiento a la terminología de las Unidades de Información Universitarias (UIU). Presentamos la metodología clásica de trabajo terminológico llevada a cabo en investigaciones de este tipo, con énfasis en la realización de grupos focales de profesionales que se desempeñan en bibliotecas académicas. Describimos el uso de los términos “biblioteca universitaria” / “biblioteca académica” y “ciencia de la información” / “ciencias de la información” hallados en el corpus textual conformado principalmente por artículos publicados en revistas reconocidas en el ámbito bibliotecológico y de las ciencias de la información en Iberoamérica. Por último, exponemos algunas consideraciones finales.

El objetivo de la investigación consiste en identificar requerimientos de formación informacional para el uso adecuado de recursos y servicios de bibliotecas digitales universitarias. Se aporta una visión sobre las prácticas y el nivel de competencia informacional de los estudiantes según el área de conocimiento. Para el estudio exploratorio utilizamos un análisis estadístico descriptivo e inferencial de los datos extraídos con un instrumento ad hoc aplicado a una muestra de 746 estudiantes universitarios de seis países hispanos. Los resultados indican un uso limitado de las bibliotecas digitales universitarias por parte de los jóvenes en general. Además, se observa insatisfacción con algunos de los servicios que ofrecen y un bajo nivel de competencia informacional para realizar búsquedas, evaluación y gestión adecuada de la información digital. Se concluye que, aun cuando los jóvenes expresan poseer habilidades para adquirir recursos digitales, el estudio evidencia la necesidad de que profesores y bibliotecarios diseñen estrategias que refuercen la alfabetización informacional de los estudiantes en sus cuatro dimensiones: recursos bibliotecarios, plagio/citación de fuentes, recuperación de información y evaluación de la información.

El artículo presenta una revisión sistemática sobre contenidos digitales para bibliotecas, realidad extendida, discapacidades físicas de interacción, diseño universal para el aprendizaje y diseño centrado en el usuario para encontrar las bases de una metodología de desarrollo de software que cubra estas características. Utilizamos un protocolo orientado a estudios en ingeniería de software, el cual consta de las siguientes etapas: 1. Definición de las preguntas de investigación, 2. Realización de la búsqueda de artículos, 3. Selección de criterios de inclusión y exclusión, 4. Palabras clave de los resúmenes y 5. Proceso de extracción y mapeo de datos. Esta revisión se llevó a cabo a través de motores de búsqueda como Google Scholar, Science Direct, IEEE Xplore y ACE Library y se delimitó a publicaciones entre 2016 y 2021. Los resultados muestran una tendencia incremental en la generación de artículos de realidad extendida, pero una baja productividad científica en contenidos digitales para bibliotecas demostrando la disponibilidad de servicios que consideran los temas antes expuestos. Finalmente, definimos elementos para la elaboración de una futura propuesta metodológica para la construcción de contenidos digitales para bibliotecas y realidad extendida.

Los indicadores de citación pueden medir el impacto o la utilidad de resultados de investigación de un artículo científico, sin embargo, este uso puede ser controversial. Factores intrínsecos y extrínsecos influencian la citación de un artículo, sin mencionar que el comportamiento en las citaciones puede variar entre áreas temáticas, lo cual dificulta las comparaciones entre artículos y disciplinas. Entender que el contexto puede afectar un análisis de citas es esencial para interpretar adecuadamente los indicadores. Por esta razón, buscan reconocerse los factores que inciden en la citación de los artículos de las revistas biomédicas colombianas indexadas en Scopus a través del uso de algoritmos de Machine Learning. Con los algoritmos ‘Gradient Boosting Classifier’ y ‘Light Gradient Boosting Machine’ identificamos características de importancia como el índice h del primer y el último autor, acceso abierto, número de autores, palabras clave del artículo, además del número de páginas. Estas características fueron relevantes para el área de interés y pueden brindar un contexto para futuros análisis, considerando que lo relevante de un artículo no debería ser cuántas citaciones atrae, sino si este ayuda a llenar vacíos en el conocimiento.

En un esquema de gobierno democrático la participación de los diversos actores es un pilar importante para la toma de decisiones públicas. En este contexto, para que la participación sea adecuada y bien fundamentada se necesita información útil y relevante que proporcione elementos para la correcta deliberación. El presente trabajo analiza, a la par de las nuevas características en torno a la obtención de información y participación en los canales digitales, los riesgos ocasionados por la calidad de la información consultable y el surgimiento y consolidación de una nueva arquitectura en la sociedad moderna. Esta arquitectura se basa en la vigilancia del pensar y actuar ciudadano que ocurre debido al cúmulo de datos originados por la constante interacción de los individuos con las tecnologías en diferentes aspectos de la vida personal y colectiva. El artículo concluye alertando sobre la posibilidad de que la calidad democrática de las naciones se vea mermada por el fenómeno de reafirmación de ideas y posturas suscitado durante la obtención, consulta e intercambio de información a través de los canales digitales, específicamente en las redes sociales digitales.

La Alfabetización Mediática, Informacional y Digital (AMID) conjunta conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes que capacitan a los ciudadanos para interactuar crítica y reflexivamente con los medios de comunicación e información en la era digital. Este artículo presenta una revisión sistemática exploratoria que analiza 34 estudios (publicados entre 2019 y 2023) que usan herramientas cuantitativas para evaluar la AMID en estudiantes y docentes en el ámbito de la educación formal. Los resultados revelan que la población más estudiada es la universitaria, con predominancia de estudiantes de nacionalidad española y mexicana. Los principales constructos derivados de esta investigación se ajustaron a tres referentes: el Marco Común de Competencia Digital Docente, el cuestionario ALFAMED y el cuestionario ALFIN-HUMASS. Los instrumentos demostraron sólidas propiedades psicométricas, tanto en términos de confiabilidad como de validez. Las escalas de actitud con formato Likert fueron las más utilizadas en los estudios descriptivos; estas son valiosas para identificar fortalezas y debilidades, pero no siempre son suficientes para brindar un diagnóstico completo. Para ello, es necesario recurrir a otras herramientas que permitan evaluar el desempeño real y vincular los resultados con implicaciones pedagógicas concretas. Finalmente, el artículo recomienda diagnosticar estas competencias en los docentes de educación primaria, secundaria y bachillerato, ya que son fundamentales para el crecimiento académico y personal de los estudiantes.

El acceso a la información a través de la lectura tradicionalmente alude al proceso de percibir y comprender la escritura mediante la vista o el tacto; no obstante, la lectura a través de la escucha se establece como una forma de oralidad terciaria que permite la combinación de la escritura, la imagen y la voz. Tales características la han convertido en una poderosa alternativa para la adquisición de conocimientos para las nuevas generaciones, las cuales, en algunos casos, prefieren escuchar en lugar de leer. Por este motivo, se realizó una investigación de tipo documental de la literatura científica sobre el tema, mediante un estudio descriptivo, con el objetivo de profundizar en el uso de los audiotextos como forma alternativa para la adquisición de conocimientos. Para ello, fueron analizados los conceptos de audiotexto, audiolibro, oralidad terciaria, conversión de texto a voz, voces sintéticas y deepfake de voz. Se encontró que el impacto de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación han hecho posible que los audiotextos se conviertan en una poderosa herramienta para la reivindicación de la palabra hablada y una herramienta complementaria para el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje.

El objetivo de investigación se fundamenta en describir los sistemas de información pervasivos contemporáneos con base en los presupuestos teóricos seleccionados. A partir de un método inductivo guiado por diferentes posturas hacia las características de los sistemas de información pervasivos, se sintetizan ciertos elementos a manera de armonización conceptual basados en la computación pervasiva. Los resultados obtenidos a nivel conceptual denotan que un sistema de información pervasivo contemporáneo tiende a expandirse en el tiempo y espacio del área de trabajo, puesto que las actividades laborales y los servicios de información han transgredido los momentos y sitios personales ajenos a las tareas específicas del lugar de trabajo.

This study examines the role of women in the academic and scientific domains, emphasizing the need for institutions to ensure women's representation for an equitable system. We analyzed 794 syllabi from the Primary Education Degree within the Spanish University Network using a qualitative-comparative approach, focusing on women's involvement in the management and coordination of courses and their representation in the associated bibliographic materials. The findings reveal a predominantly androcentric environment, where, despite women's active participation in course leadership, their contributions to the bibliographic landscape are significantly limited. The research highlights the disparities in gender representation and underscores the necessity for measures to enhance women's visibility in academic and scientific spaces. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nanoparticles have been considered in many fields such as medicine and industry due to their very small size and their special physicochemical properties. Biosynthesis of nanoparticles has advantages over other methods. This paper examines the bibliography of the relationship between nanotechnology and fungi from 1985 to 2021. Data were collected from three databases consisting of Web of Science, Scopus, and Dimensions. The number and type of documents were examined and then the analysis was continued using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix-package on the documents of the Scopus database. Analysis of 1203 documents from this database showed an upward trend in the publication in recent years. The term "Fungi" was also identified as the keyword index and India as the country with the most published documents. Future research is likely to be on using modern techniques in the study of nanoparticles as well as focusing on other genera of fungi. This paper explores the relationship between nanotechnology and fungi from 1985 to 2021. Biosynthesis offers advantages in creating nanoparticles, which are tiny particles with unique properties used in many fields. Data from three databases were analysed, indicating an increasing trend in publications in recent years. The deepening integration of social-technical systems creates immensely complex environments, creating increasingly uncertain and unpredictable circumstances. Given this context, policymakers have been encouraged to draw on complexity science-informed approaches in policymaking to help grapple with and manage the mounting complexity of the world. For nearly eighty years, complexity-informed approaches have been promising to change how our complex systems are understood and managed, ultimately assisting in better policymaking. Despite the potential of complexity science, in practice, its use often remains limited to a few specialised domains and has not become part and parcel of the mainstream policy debate. To understand why this might be the case, we question why complexity science remains nascent and not integrated into the core of policymaking. Specifically, we ask what the non-technical challenges and barriers are preventing the adoption of complexity science into policymaking. To address this question, we conducted an extensive literature review. We collected the scattered fragments of text that discussed the non-technical challenges related to the use of complexity science in policymaking and stitched these fragments into a structured framework by synthesising our findings. Our framework consists of three thematic groupings of the non-technical challenges: (a) management, cost, and adoption challenges; (b) limited trust, communication, and acceptance; and (c) ethical barriers. For each broad challenge identified, we propose a mitigation strategy to facilitate the adoption of complexity science into policymaking. To think through the tools, methods, and practices for a queer approach to bibliography, I consider my role as an assistant at BookLab, the University of Maryland's English department makerspace, and how the letterpress printing we do there informs new pedagogies of bibliographical work. I conceptualize this method of bibliographical instruction through queer theory to think through the value that makerspaces bring to bibliographical instruction and the book arts, broadly conceived, especially when organized around concepts such as creativity, experimentation, and failure. Queer makerspace bibliography not only de-essentializes books in a way that contributes to a deeper bibliographical understanding of them, but also allows students to produce material objects that matter to them and resituates affect as a core component of bibliographical work. The advent of critical bibliography has seen critical theory put to work to reappraise the field's foundations, methods, and practices in response, in part, to categories of oppression. Recent advances in feminist, Black, trans, and Indigenous bibliographies are changing our conceptions of what bibliography is and should be. In this article we make the case for queer approaches to bibliography. Drawing on the intertwined relationship between sexuality and textuality, and between queer theory and literature, we survey the vernacular bibliographical practices of "ordinary" queer readers. We then consider the scope for a critical queer bibliography which intersects with other critical bibliographies, discuss the depth, range, and potential of the field in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and outline the prospects for a rapidly emerging subdiscipline. This article examines the recovery of a Romantic-era, gender-nonconforming writer—known variously as David Lyndsay, Mary Diana Dods, and Walter Sholto Douglas—in relation to the methods of textual editing and bibliographical categorization involved in their work's recuperation. In doing so, it builds on recent work in queer, feminist, and trans bibliographies, attending in particular to questions of forgery and pseudonymity as they bear on Lyndsay, Dods, and Douglas's published works. I first attend to how Lyndsay, Dods, and Douglas's pseudonymous writing has itself been framed as a forgery, suggesting that this framing represents a troubling entanglement of key concepts in bibliography and textual studies with certain strands of anti-trans rhetoric. Specifically, I consider Betty T. Bennett's initial uncovering of Lyndsay, Dods, and Douglas's shared identity alongside both her articulation of her own editorial method and work in trans studies addressing issues of deception and fraud. Turning to focus more closely on questions of gender and pseudonymity, this article then proposes that pseudonymous publication itself be read as a site of trans possibility. Extending this reading of pseudonymity as potentially trans, I conclude by tracing other aspects of books and their histories that might illuminate a broader understanding of the book's role in both enabling movements away from genders assigned to bodies and communicating the possibilities of trans lives and works. This essay is occupied with attempts to provide alternative bibliographic infrastructures for marginalized communities and discusses the possibilities of queer metadata. First, I provide a definitional and literature review focused on the principles and purposes of the field of knowledge organization. Next, I introduce the Homosaurus as an example of a queer alternative to standard cataloging and classification structures. I draw from discussions on imagined records and impossible archival imaginaries in the archival studies field in order to propose the concepts of "metadatic imaginaries" and "impossible metadatic imaginaries." Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) offers a promising solution to expedite various phases of the systematic review process such as screening. Objective: We aimed to assess the accuracy of an AI tool in identifying eligible references for a systematic review compared to identification by human assessors. Methods: For the case study (a systematic review of knowledge translation interventions), we used a diagnostic accuracy design and independently assessed for eligibility a set of articles (n = 300) using human raters and the AI system DistillerAI (Evidence Partners, Ottawa, Canada). We analysed a series of 64 possible confidence levels for the AI's decisions and calculated several standard parameters of diagnostic accuracy for each. Results: When set to a lower AI confidence threshold of 0.1 or greater and an upper threshold of 0.9 or lower, DistillerAI made article selection decisions very similarly to human assessors. Within this range, DistillerAI made a decision on the majority of articles (93–100%), with a sensitivity of 1.0 and specificity ranging from 0.9 to 1.0. Conclusion: DistillerAI appears to be accurate in its assessment of articles in a case study of 300 articles. This bibliography contains journal articles, book chapters, books, edited volumes, theses, grey literature, bibliographies and other resources on the multi-faceted relationship between terrorism and education. It covers a wide range of aspects (such as how education affects radicalisation processes, the impact of (counter-)terrorism on educational institutions, or the training of terrorist actors). The bibliography focuses on recent publications (up to April 2024) and should not be considered as exhaustive. The literature has been retrieved by manually browsing more than 200 core and periphery sources in the field of Terrorism Studies. Sorin Stati was a prestigious Romanian scientist whose 54-year of scientific activity included 220 papers and 130 lectures. Born in Romania, he studied at the University of Bucharest and worked from the beginning as a member of large research teams within the Romanian Academy. Single and collaborative works written up until 1972 and published in the country were exceptional, decisively changing the movement of Romanian linguistic ideas. After 1972, when he emigrated to Italy, the distinguished professor held a second doctorate and a chair at the University of Bologna. From then until his death, through his works and throughout his activity, he opened new theoretical perspectives both in the study of syntax and pragmatics, dialogue, in the analysis of the 'transfrastic' relationships, lexicology and semantics. His ability to influence these fields lies in the volumes that the international academic community offered at the age of 65, but also in the number of articles and homage volumes dedicated to Sorin Stati after 2008, the year of his death. The publication of his works continued ten years after his death. I personally owe him a large part of my linguistic thinking, being decisively influenced by his wonderful and fertile ideas during the period when I was preparing my PhD thesis. The bibliography of Sorin Stati's works, as seen above, was made up of two incomplete editions, without being unified so far with his other works. That is what we intended in this article. In addition to the previous bibliographies, we record here the understandings, respectively the reviews of his works, but also the homage articles and volumes without which, we think, a bibliography of any scientist remains incomplete. This article reveals some secrets hidden behind this ancestral hydro-agricultural development which has been operating for more than 30 centuries. During the period 1992-2024, several missions were carried out in the foggaras oases. Investigations and surveys were carried out among the owners of the foggaras and the Ksourian population. The results obtained show that the know-how acquired on foggaras is immense. For the first time, new notions about foggaras have been introduced into the technical bibliography. This is how in Algeria, there are two types of foggaras: volumetric and hourly. Part 2 of this article highlighted the diversity of the foggara. Eight (8) models of foggaras have been highlighted in the Algerian Sahara. These are the Tademaït foggara, the Erg foggara, the garden foggara, the wadi foggara, the Ouakda foggara, the Kenadsa foggara, the Ain foggara and the Mzab foggara. An acquisition of significant know-how has given rise to a diversity of foggaras, thus justifying the originality of the Algerian foggara. A proof which demonstrates the greatness of the Know-how and the oasis genius. So, should we let a heritage of this magnitude die out in the short term? [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this first part, we established two types of foggaras: volumetric and hourly. The volumetric foggara is found only in Algeria and was dug in the oases of Gourara, Touat and Tidikelt which take the shape of a crescent. Approximately 80% of the total number, the volumetric foggara of exceptional ingenuity allows the gardens to be irrigated in parallel, it is equipped with a network of triangular seguias. As for the hourly foggara, it is less present on Algerian soil, the hourly foggara contains a network of branched seguias and makes it possible to irrigate the gardens in series, i.e. in turn. The majority of these foggaras are located in the Saoura valley.
