Abstract

La reproducción inducida a través de la hipofización, para estimular la maduración final y ovulación es ampliamente difundida y aplicada por piscicultores. Sin embargo de la extensa gama de inductores hormonales es posible encontrar otras sustancias con ventajas fisiológicas y económicas con relación al extracto de hipófisis de carpa (EPC). Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo contribuir con información sobre el Ovaprim® como inductor de la reproducción del bocachico (Prochilodus magdaleane). El estudio se desarrolló en el Centro de Investigaciones Piscícolas de la Universidad de Córdoba (CINPIC). Se evaluaron tres dosificaciones de Ovaprim®: 0.3 (T2); 0.5 (T3) y 0.7(T4) mL/Kg de peso, en aplicación única, intraperitoneal. Estos tratamientos fueron comparados con un grupo de bocachicos inducidos con 6 mg EPC/Kg) de peso (T1), dividida en dos aplicaciones intramusculares del 20% y 80% con intervalo de 10 a 12 horas. En cada tratamiento se utilizaron 12 hembras y 12 machos. El desempeño reproductivo fue evaluado mediante el índice de ovulación (hembras ovuladas/hembras tratadas), fecundidad absoluta (g ovocitos/hembra), fecundidad relativa (g ovocitos/kg hembra), tasa de fertilización y tasa de eclosión. El mayor índice de ovulación (91.6%) fue obtenido con las hembras inducidas con EPC (P0-05). Se observó que el índice de ovulación del bocachico inducido con Ovaprim® es bajo en comparación a la respuesta ofrecida con EPC. Sin embargo, la tasa de fertilización y de eclosión de las hembras tratadas con 0.7 y 0.5 mL Ovaprim®/kg son similares a las obtenidas con EPC. Lo que sugiere que 0.3 mL Ovaprim®/kg, es una dosificación que ofrece una baja calidad de desove. Los resultados del presente estudio sugieren que el Ovaprim® es efectivo en la inducción a la maduración final y ovulación del bocachico pero es necesario mayores estudios para lograr un mejor desempeño reproductivo por lo menos al nivel de respuesta alcanzado con el EPC.

Abstract

The present work analyzes the dispersion of chemical and odorous substances from a treatment plant for special dangerous wastes, with the purpose to mitigate the environmental impacts through directed interventions on the management. This activity has a double purpose: to minimize the chemical and odorous issues, in the full respect of environmental normative, and reduce the risks of health of operators and workers.Through a chemical, olfactometry and modeling analysis it has been therefore possible to hypothesize different scenarios related with the treatment of special dangerous wastes depending on the phases of workmanship and chemical reaction products. Chemical substances analyzed and monitored during this study have been: Total Suspended Particulate (PTS), Particulate Matter PM10 (with analysis for Pb, Cd, Ni and Cu), Ammonia, Sulfuric acid, Odorous substances, BTEX and chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOCs), Aliphatic Amine. Afterwards it has been possible to search for some correlations between chemical substances emissions and smell, in order to intervene on the treatment plants to mitigate environmental impacts. In addition, we have performed chemical measures on exposed operators in contact with dangerous special wastes, in order to evaluate chemical risks through the application of algorithm CHEOPE.

74. Effect of Age on Body Wall Cuticle Morphology of Heterodera schachtii Schmidt females

Abstract

Fine structure of the body wall cuticle of Heterodera schachtii is compared with respect to age and body region of the female. The cuticle is more complex than previously reported. In newly molted females only layers A, B, and C are present, but 4 weeks after the final molt a thin D layer is present between the midbody and base of the cone. This D layer is absent in the cone of H. schachtii, regardless of age. As females age, an additional layer E is produced and includes zones E₁ and E₂. Zone El apparently is unique to H. schachtii, whereas E₂ is likely to be homologous with a similar layer in Atalodera. In the cone of old females (ca. 8 weeks after the final molt) of H. schachtii, the two zones become irregular in shape and comprise bullae. The presence of a thin D layer in Heterodera strengthens the previous hypothesis of a single ancestor of cyst nematodes.

79. Validity of early colonoscopy for the treatment of adenomas missed by initial endoscopic examination

Abstract

To determine whether the features of adenomas identified in a first endoscopic examination may predict the presence of polyps with advanced pathological features that may have gone unnoticed and whether early colonoscopy may benefit these patients.We examined 133 patients with diagnosis of colonic adenomas who had undergone complete colonoscopy and endoscopic polypectomy. All of them underwent colonoscopic follow-up at 3 years. Seventy nine patients underwent colonoscopic follow-up both at 6 months and at 3 years, while 54 patients underwent just colonoscopic follow-up at 3 years and 47 just at 6 months.Fifteen per cent of the patients analyzed developed polyps with pathological features after 6 months. The size and histological analysis of the polyps detected in the initial colonoscopic examination did not affect these results (p0.05). The number of polyps was statistically significant: patients with 3 or more polyps in the initial colonoscopic examination presented more polyps with pathological features after six months (25.8 versus 5.8%, p = 0002). This follow-up examination at 3 years did not reveal a higher occurrence of polyps with pathological features in any of the two groups of patients, namely, those who had undergone early colonoscopy and those who had not.Patients with multiple polyps have greater probability of developing synchronous polyps with some pathological features which may have gone unnoticed. Since early examination has not shown to provide a benefit for these patients, the first follow-up colonoscopy should be performed at 3 years, particularly if the initial colonoscopy is negative.

Abstract

A fuzzy expert system, DIME, has been developed to assess the risk of coal and gas outbursts in underground mining in Spain. The system fuzzifies input risk indices and groups the information into gas content, ground properties, acoustic emission and coal properties using a fuzzy inference process. These groups will become the third-level fuzzy inputs that assess the outburst risk. Expert rules are introduced at each level.
