The inspiration for this collective writing project began with a digital conference entitled 'Knowledge Socialism, COVID-19 and the New Reality of Education' held at Beijing Normal University. In this conference and through this article, multiple researchers spread across six continents have engaged in the collaborative task of outlining emerging innovations and alternative contingencies towards education, international collaboration, and digital reform in this time of global crisis. Trends associated with digital education, knowledge openness, peer production, and collective intelligence as articulated by Michael A. Peters' conception of Knowledge Socialism are given careful analysis and exploration. Some of the members of this collective endeavor to identify problems, others, begin to draw boxes around potential solutions. Overall, this article engages with real world challenges and innovations that look beyond dominant neoliberal trends in the knowledge economy to build bridges toward novel possibilities in this era of rapid digital change.

In recent years, the incidence of cartilage defects has increased dramatically, and its etiology is complex and varied. Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), as one of the main etiologies, damages both cartilage and bone tissues and can progress to severe osteoarthritis, which has been one of the difficult problems for clinicians. The vigorous development of material science and tissue engineering provides new ideas for the treatment of OCD, in which the selection of scaffold materials is particularly important. In this study, true-bone-ceramics (TBC), which has good mechanical strength and osteoconductivity, and type I collagen (COL1), which has excellent biocompatibility, were chosen as scaffold materials to co-construct the TBC/COL1 scaffold for osteochondral repair. In order to ensure the most appropriate collagen coating concentration, three experimental groups (1, 5, 12 mg/ml) were set up. Through the physicochemical property test, biocompatibility analysis and in vivo implantation experiments of composite scaffolds, 12 mg/ml TBC/COL1 scaffolds present the best repair effect among the three groups. Milk, owing to its nutritional value, is a staple commodity in daily life. Ensuring its integrity and authenticity is paramount for researchers and the food industry. To evaluate spoilage and adulteration of milk, we proposed a robust and reliable optical method to guarantee milk quality by utilizing riboflavin as an internal biomarker. By precisely controlling the content of Eu3+, Tb3+, and Gd3+ ions, a two‐dimensional ratiometric luminescence lanthanide coordination polymer (Ln‐CP) with adjustable emission centers was synthesized for the detection of riboflavin (RF), leveraging a Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) and photoinduced electron transfer (PET) process. This method demonstrates high sensitivity and selectivity towards RF and has been successfully applied to the detection of RF in both milk and calf serum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Development of new multi‐ratiometric fluorescence probes has been a popular research field. This approach provides richer and more accurate information for the recognition of different substances which have similar chemical and physical properties. In this work, a ratiometric fluorescence sensor UIO‐66⊃FL/RhB is successfully constructed by incorporating fluorescein (FL) and rhodamine B (RhB) to the UIO‐66. With the addition of fluoroquinolones (FQs), the prepared UIO‐66⊃FL/RhB sensor can be used for the 2D emission‐fingerprint map, the linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) in recognition the presence of each FQs. The fluorescence probe offers a broad linear range (0‐8 µM) and a low detection limit (3.7 nM) in sensing ofloxacin. In addition, a smartphone‐assisted portable sensing platform and a portable UIO‐66⊃FL/RhB hydrogel test material are constructed successfully for screening before fluorescence detection. This study proposes a novel multi‐ratiometric fluorescence probe, which can recognize different FQs. Besides, the UIO‐66⊃FL/RhB‐based hydrogel beads are construction for screening before the detection of FQs, which established a promising strategy for the simple and accurate discrimination of FQs. The Zrt/Irt-like protein (ZIP) family consists of ubiquitously expressed divalent d-block metal transporters that play central roles in the uptake, secretion, excretion, and distribution of several essential and toxic metals in living organisms. The past few years has witnessed rapid progress in the molecular basis of these membrane transport proteins. In this critical review, we summarize the research progress at the molecular level of the ZIP family and discuss the future prospects. Furthermore, an evolutionary path for the unique ZIP fold and a new classification of the ZIP family are proposed based on the presented structural and sequence analyses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
