This paper proposes a double-input high voltage gain topology for Non-Isolated Non-Coupled Inductor (NINCI) based de-de converters. The proposed topology is capable of producing high voltage gains, while the Normalized Voltage Stress (NVS) on the switches/diodes remain low. Simple structure, continuous input currents and also the low current ripple of input sources are the advantages of proposed topology. The low/medium power applications are suggested for the proposed topology. In this paper, different operational modes and also steady state analyses of proposed topology have been presented. To verify effectiveness of proposed topology, it has been modeled and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC software. Simulation results validate efficient performance and suitability of proposed topology.

Selection of higher values for Degree of Hybridization (DOH) increases the fuel economy and reduces the emissions in the Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). Previously presented methodologies for deciding about the number of battery modules (as an important factor influencing the vehicle performance), presents poor vehicle performance for higher DOHs. In this paper, a new technique has been proposed for deciding about the number of battery modules in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), by which the high performance of the vehicle is guaranteed for higher DOHs. The proposed methodology is based on satisfying two key designing factors: Maximum charge and discharge capability and satisfaction of the PNGV criteria. The proposed methodology, allows us to choose higher DOHs in HEVs, which leads to lower emissions and higher levels of fuel economy. To evaluate efficiency of proposed methodology, it has been applied on model of a test parallel passenger hybrid car available in the ADvanced VehIcle SimulatOR (ADVISOR) software. The obtained results have been compared with that of formerly presented techniques. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of proposed methodology.

A 15-level flying capacitor multi-cell based inverter with new control method is proposed. The main benefit of this topology is minimising the number of components (switches, insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBTs), diodes, flying capacitors and DC sources with minimum variety number) that are used for producing the same number of output voltage levels. The proposed novel control strategy is capable of regulating voltage of flying capacitors on desired values, which results in increased number of output voltage levels. Another feature of the proposed control strategy is robustness against the load changes. Moreover, a new algorithm is presented for determining the voltage rating of flying capacitors. Simulations carried out in PSCAD/EMTDC software package and the experimental data were validated against numerical results.

In this paper, an improved Non-Isolated bidirectional Multiple-Input (MI) Buck dc-dc converter has been proposed. In the proposed topology, the input sources can simultaneously/independently transfer energy to the load. The applied energy storage system -battery- not only realizes the bidirectional power flow (even when none storable input sources like Fuel Cells are utilized), but also can absorb the excess energy produced by input sources. Simple structure and reduced number of components (switches, inductors, capacitors and current sensors) are the main advantages of the proposed topology. Different operational modes and design consideration of proposed converter have been investigated. To confirm the validity of proposed converter, the two-input version has been modeled and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC software and implemented experimentally. Obtained results validate the suitable performance of proposed topology.

This paper proposes an improved structure for none-isolated Multi-Input (MI) high step-up dc-dc converters. The bidirectional power flow operation can also be provided for the proposed topology. Unlike most of none-isolated none-coupled inductor based topologies, the proposed topology can produce high voltage gains with low voltage stress on the switches/diodes. Due to the simple structure of proposed topology, the control strategy and consequently the production of switching signals is very straightforward. Different operational modes of proposed topology have been introduced and illustrated. Then, steady-state analysis have been investigated. Finally, to confirm the proposed concepts, the topology has been modeled and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC software. Simulation results validate the proper performance of proposed topology.

In this paper, an improved Cascaded Multi-Level Inverter (CMLI) topology which can be "symmetric" or "asymmetric" is proposed. The improved topology can produce higher number of levels using lower number of components. Higher number of levels leads to generation of a high quality with low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) output voltage waveform. To increase number of voltage levels, two algorithms are proposed for determination of magnitude of dc voltage sources, which are investigated and the most effective one is introduced. To verify operation of proposed topology, it is modeled and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC software. Proper performance of proposed topology is confirmed by obtained simulation results.

In this paper, two types of DC-DC converters with modified structures and different control methods for generating AC output voltage are proposed. In the modified cascaded dual buck inverter, absence of split capacitors leads to increased reliability of the inverter. Also, a new structure is proposed for integrated dual buck-boost inverter. The proposed inverters are capable of obtaining maximum power from solar cells by themselves. To evaluate operations of the proposed inverters, they have been modeled and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC for different modulation indexes. Simulation results confirm validity and effectiveness of the proposed inverters.

In this paper, a modified single-phase grid connected current source inverter is proposed for photovoltaic system application. The proposed converter is able to connect low voltage photovoltaic panels to grid without using transformer or extra dc-dc boost converter. Also, a current reference tracking based control method is proposed which tracks sinusoidal reference current and injects sinusoidal current to grid. So, the maximum power point can be tracked. To evaluate performance of the proposed topology, it has been modeled and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC. The simulation results conform effectiveness and good performance of proposed converter.

In this paper, a simple but efficient Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA) II based technique is proposed for optimizing the Degree of Hybridization (DOH) in parallel passenger hybrid cars. The authors' objective is to improve performance, maximize fuel economy and at the same time, minimize mass and emissions as much as possible, by optimal selection of DOH. The NSGA-II, which is a multi-objective optimization algorithm, is applied to optimize this multiple objective problem. The ADvanced VehIcle SimulatOR (ADVISOR) software is used as simulation tool. To validate high efficiency of proposed methodology, necessary simulations have been carried out on a small-size test car. The results indicates that the proposed methodology is very fast and efficient and can be well applied to any other types of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs)., U radu je predložena jednostavna i efikasna metoda zasnovana na nedominirano-sortirajućem genetičkom algoritmu (NSGA) II u svrhu optimiranja stupnja hibridizacije (DOH) u paralelnim putničkim hibridnim automobilima. Cilj je unaprijediti performanse, maksimizirati ekonomičnost goriva te istovremeno minimizirati emisiju koliko god je moguće uz optimalni odabir DOH. NSGA-II algoritam, koji spada u višekriterijske optimizacijske algoritme, korišten je za optimiranje problema s više ciljeva. Napredni simulator vozila (ADVISOR softver) korišten je kao simulacijski alat. Simulacije su provedene na umanjenom testnom vozilu kako bi se validirala visoka efikasnost predložene metodologije. Rezultati ukazuju da je predložena metoda vrlo brza i efikasna te ju je moguće primijeniti i na bilo koji drugi tip hibridnog električnog vozila (HEV).

In this paper, a new Genetic Algorithm (GA) based methodology is proposed to optimize the Degree of Hybridization (DOH) in a passenger parallel hybrid car. At first step, target parameters for the vehicle are decided and then using ADvanced VehIcle SimulatOR (ADVISOR) software, the variation pattern of these target parameters, across the different DOHs, is extracted. At the next step, a suitable cost function is defined and is optimized using GA. In this paper, also a new technique has been proposed for deciding the number of battery modules for each DOH, which leads to a great improvement in the vehicle performance. In this paper a novel technique is proposed with which the optimal Degree of Hybridization (DOH) can be found with very little computational effort. This technique combines PSO algorithm and HEV simulation tool and its objective is to optimize both the fuel economy and vehicle performance and minimize the emissions, including HC, CO for a hybrid electric vehicle. Advanced VehIcle SimulatOR (ADVISOR) software is used as the vehicle simulation tool. Needed simulations have been carried out on the Toyota Prius which its model is available in the ADVISOR. The results obtained from simulations, prove the validity and efficiency of the proposed technique.
