Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries, as next generation energy storage systems, have gained considerable attention due to their high energy density, low cost, and environmental friendliness. However, the practical applications of Li–S batteries are presently hindered by several issues, such as the low conductivity of sulfur species, the shuttle effect of polysulfides, and poor conversion efficiency in discharging/charging processes. In this study, using density functional theory (DFT)-based computations, we propose a two dimensional (2D) covalent organic framework (COF) with triquinoxalinylene (TQ) and benzoquinone (BQ) units in its skeleton, namely, TQBQCOF, as a promising sulfur host material for high-performance Li–S batteries. We have found that the TQBQCOF is a semiconductor with a band gap of 1.16 eV. After the adsorption of LiPSs the TQBQCOF becomes metallic in nature, which ensures its excellent electronic conductivity. The moderate adsorption energies of the TQBQCOF to the soluble LiPSs can effectively suppress the shuttle effect of polysulfides. Notably, the TQBQCOF also shows high catalytic activity for the sulfur reduction reactions (SRR) in the discharge process and Li2S decomposition in the charging process of Li–S batteries. The Gibbs free energy barrier for the SRR is 0.22 eV, while the decomposition barrier of a Li2S molecule on the TQBQCOF is only 0.04 eV, ensuring the rapid charging and discharging processes of Li–S batteries. Herein we report that a surfactant modified quantum dot-complex (S-QDC; with λem-515 nm) nanocomposite, as a donor fluorophore, exhibits enhanced Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) efficiency to an acceptor organic dye (λem-576 nm) in comparison to only the QDC. The proposed S-QDC (consisting of a ZnS quantum dot, zinc quinolate inorganic complex and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) surfactant) provides the unique and selective ratiometric visual detection of organic dyes present as food colorants in commercial chili powder, tomato ketchup and mixed fruit jam. Notably, the S-QDC shows a limit of detection (LOD) as low as 2.2 nM in the linear range of 0.17–4.89 μM for food colorants. Furthermore, the present work will bring new possibilities to unravelling the chemistry among surfactants, inorganic complexes and quantum dots to make newer optical materials with futuristic scope of utilization ranging from optical sensors to light emitting devices. Tea is the most popular daily drink consumed globally, with a high concentration of caffeine and polyphenols. In this study, the effects of ultrasonic‐assisted extraction and quantification of caffeine and polyphenols from green tea were investigated and optimized using 23‐full factorial design and high‐performance thin‐layer chromatography. Three parameters were optimized to maximize the concentration of caffeine and polyphenols extracted using ultrasound: crude drug‐to‐solvent ratio (1:10–1:5), temperature (20–40°C), and ultrasonication time (10–30 min). The optimal conditions achieved from the model for tea extraction were as follows: crude drug‐to‐solvent ratio, 0.199 g/ml; temperature, 39.9°C; and time, 29.9 min; the extractive value was found to be 16.8%. Images from scanning electron microscopy showed that the matrix underwent a physical alteration and cell wall disintegration, which intensified and accelerated the extraction. This process might be simplified using sonication, which results in a higher extractive yield and a significant concentration of caffeine and polyphenols than the traditional approach, with a smaller quantity of solvent and faster analytical times. The result of high‐performance thin‐layer chromatography analysis proves a significant positive correlation between extractive value and caffeine and polyphenol concentrations. Childhood stunting is recognized as significant public health concern in India. It is a form of malnutrition with impaired linear growth and creates a range of adversaries among children, including under-5 mortality, morbidity, and physical and cognitive growth. The purpose of the present study was to recognize the various leading determinants causing childhood stunting from both individual and contextual level in Indian context. Data were obtained from the India's Demography and Health Survey (DHS) conducted in 2019–2021. A total of 1, 46,521 children aged 0–59 months were included in this present study. The study applied a multilevel mixed-effect logistic regression model in which individual factors nested within community based contextual-level factors estimating the likelihood of childhood stunting phenomena among Indian children. The variance explained in full model accounted for about 35.8% of the odds of stunting across the communities. The present study elucidates that the recognized factors from individual level characteristics have really increased the odds of childhood stunting: gender of child, multiple births, low birth weight, low BMI among mothers, less educational attainment by mothers, maternal anemic status, breast feeding duration longer than usual, < 4 antenatal care (ANC) visits during gestation period. Similarly, contextual-level factors like rural places of residence, western Indian children, and communities with high poverty rates, lower literacy rates, improper sanitation, and unsafe drinking water were also found to have a significant positive association with childhood stunting. The study finally concludes that cross level interaction between individual and contextual-level factors are identified as significant determinants of linear growth retardation among child in India. In order to reduce this type of malnutrition among the child one should more concentrate on both individual and contextual-level factors as a notable reasons. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Physician burnout and stress can have consequential effects on healthcare services and are a leading cause for medical errors and lower quality of care. This is the first study to assess the prevalence rates and associated variables for burnout and stress levels of medical residents in four Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries by combining the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) and Stress Overload Scale-Short Form (SOS-S) as assessment tools. A cross-sectional, quantitative research method design using an online survey. This online survey was distributed to second year and above medical residents training in tertiary healthcare centers in four GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman). Eligible residents (n = 16,686) were recruited via convenience sampling. Out of 2,886 respondents, 996 responses were excluded due to incomplete information. The data was collected from 13th September 2020 to 15th November 2020. Of 1,890 included medical residents, 961 (50.8%) were females, and the mean (SD) age was 29.5 (3.2) years old. Personal burnout prevalence rates were the highest, followed by work-related and patient-related burnout (98.4%, 97.8%, and 79.3%, respectively). Arab and Kuwait Board residents had the highest rates of burnout across all domains. Stress overload scores were high with 51.6% of residents at high risk for illness, with Saudi Board residents most likely to be at high risk and Oman Medical Specialty Board residents at low risk. Burnout predictors included: no access to a wellness programme (p = 0.000), longer shifts (p = 0.000), high personal vulnerability (p = 0.000), and intention to leave (p = 0.05). Our findings show that burnout and stress rates are high for GCC residents, suggesting a significant problem for residents to provide the highest quality of healthcare possible. Rationale and Objective: Radiology has traditionally remained one of the most male-dominated specialties, although a higher proportion of women are now beginning to occupy roles as academic radiologists than their male counterparts. The present study investigated trends in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding within Diagnostic Radiology stratified by gender, and correlated with measures of academic output, including h-index.Materials and Methods: Data on funding was obtained from the online NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tools Expenditure and Results for fiscal years 2016-2019, and information regarding each Principal Investigator (PI) was obtained from the Scopus database and departmental websites. Mann-Whitney U tests were performed on collected data for statistical comparison of continuous variables.Results: Of the 2929 grants included in this analysis, 1789 (61.07%) were awarded to male PIs and 1140 (38.9%) to female PIs.  Among PIs holding a PhD degree, male PIs had a higher mean grant amount ($619,807.00) compared to female PIs ($158,486.00).Conclusion: Although female representation within academic radiology has been increasing, the mean NIH grants awarded to women is less than that awarded to men. Reasons for this are numerous and may include differential prioritization of career objectives among men and women, although such rationalization is inevitably speculative in nature. Significant gender differences in NIH funding were seen at the PhD level, and the strongest correlation between NIH funding and academic output was observed for the h-index of female PIs. Girls' education is a critical pathway to delay early marriage. We examine the symbolic and apparent value of girls' education as a transitional moment to their marriage and a de facto space to control their sexuality. This paper draws on qualitative analysis from an impact evaluation of a Conditional Cash Transfer scheme, Apni Beti Apna Dhan (implemented between 1994-1998), designed to enhance girls' value and delay early marriage, in Haryana, India. The research was conducted in 2010–2015, using a quasi-experimental study design, with about 10,000 beneficiary and eligible nonbeneficiary girls, 18 years after the first set of beneficiaries enrolled in the Conditional Cash Transfer could encash the benefit, if they had remained unmarried. The qualitative analysis covered 124 girls and their mothers, to understand the gendered context of their lives and aspirations around education and marriage. The study was conducted by team of researchers from International Center for Research on Women, including the authors. Education is considered key to enhance girls' prospects for marriage. The intrinsic benefits of education may enable some girls to chart better life trajectories, though its value is largely understood within a bounded space of girls' marriageability. The persistent focus on marriage, structures girls' daily school routines bounded by strict restrictions and scrutiny around their mobility, sexuality, and conduct. The potential for girls to explore new freedoms and opportunities through education is curtailed by unyielding gendered restrictions and rigid social hierarchies.
