Importance: Both tuina therapy and yijinjing exercise were beneficial to patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain, but the evidence for this combination is limited., Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of tuina therapy combined with yijinjing exercise compared with tuina therapy alone for patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain., Design, Setting, and Participants: A 12-week, open-label, analyst-blinded randomized clinical trial (8-week intervention plus 4-week observational follow-up) was conducted from September 7, 2020, to October 25, 2021. A total of 102 participants with nonspecific chronic neck pain were recruited, and data were analyzed from December 10, 2021, to March 26, 2022., Interventions: Participants in the tuina group or tuina combined with yijinjing group received 3 sessions of tuina therapy per week for 8 weeks, for a total of 24 sessions. Participants in the tuina combined with yijinjing group practiced yijinjing 3 times a week for 8 weeks, including an instructor-guided exercise at the hospital and 2 self-practice exercises at home., Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was change in visual analog scale (VAS) score from baseline to week 8. Secondary outcomes included Neck Disability Index scores, Self-rating Anxiety Scale scores, tissue hardness, and active range of motion., Results: This randomized clinical trial recruited 102 patients (mean [SD] age, 36.5 [4.9] years; 69 [67.6%] female) who were randomized to 2 groups. All 102 patients (100%) completed all the outcome measurements. The mean difference in VAS scores from baseline at week 8 for the tuina combined with yijinjing group was -5.4 (95% CI, -5.8 to -5.1). At week 8, the difference in VAS score was -1.2 (95% CI, -1.6 to -0.8; P < .001) between the tuina group and the tuina combined with yijinjing group. The effectiveness of tuina combined with yijinjing in treating nonspecific chronic neck pain remained at the 12-week follow-up., Conclusions and Relevance: In this randomized clinical trial, for patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain, tuina combined with yijinjing was more effective than tuina therapy alone in terms of pain, functional recovery, and anxiety at week 8, and effectiveness remained at week 12. Nonlocal quantum correlations, such as quantum entanglement, quantum steering, and Bell nonlocality, are crucial resources for quantum information tasks. How to protect these quantum resources from decoherence is one of the most urgent problems to be solved. Here, we investigate the evolution of these correlations in the correlated squeezed generalized amplitude damping (SGAD) channel and propose a scheme to protect them with weak measurement (WM) and quantum measurement reversal (QMR). Compared with the results of the uncorrelated SGAD channel, we find that when [Formula: see text], correlation and squeezing effects can prolong the survival time of quantum entanglement, Bell nonlocality, and quantum steering by about 152 times, 207 times, and 10 times, respectively. In addition, local WM and QMR can effectively recover the disappeared nonlocal quantum correlations either in uncorrelated or completely correlated SGAD channels. Moreover, we find that these initial nonlocal quantum correlations could be drastically amplified under the correlated channel. And the steering direction can be flexibly manipulated either by changing the channel parameters or the strength of WM and QMR. These results not only make a step forward in suppressing decoherence and enhancing quantum correlation in noise channels, but also help to develop relevant practical applications., (© 2022. A highly efficient enantioselective direct C-H functionalization of β-carbolines via a Minisci-type radical process under a photo-redox and chiral phosphoric acid cooperative catalytic system has been disclosed. Through this protocol, a wide range of C1 aminoalkylated β-carbolines were constructed directly with high levels of enantioselectivities from readily available β-carbolines and alanine-derived redox-active esters. This transformation allows straightforward access to highly valuable enantioenriched β-carbolines, which are an intriguing structural motif in valuable natural products and synthetic bio-active compounds. Background: Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) have become a promising biomarker for assessing tumor immune microenvironment and predicting immunotherapy response. However, the assessment of TILs relies on invasive pathological slides., Methods: We retrospectively extracted radiomics features from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to develop a radiomic cohort of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) (n = 139), among which 116 patients underwent transcriptomic sequencing. This radiomic cohort was randomly divided into the training cohort (n = 98) and validation cohort (n = 41) to develop radiomic signatures to predict the level of TILs through a non-invasive method. Pathologically evaluated TILs in the H&E sections were set as the gold standard. Elastic net and logistic regression were utilized to perform radiomics feature selection and model training, respectively. Transcriptomics was utilized to infer the detailed composition of the tumor microenvironment and to validate the radiomic signatures., Results: We selected three radiomics features to develop a TILs-predicting radiomics model, which performed well in the validation cohort (AUC 0.790, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.638-0.943). Further investigation with transcriptomics verified that tumors with high TILs predicted by radiomics (Rad-TILs) presented activated immune-related pathways, such as antigen processing and presentation, and immune checkpoints pathways. In addition, a hot immune microenvironment, including upregulated T cell infiltration gene signatures, cytokines, costimulators and major histocompatibility complexes (MHCs), as well as more CD8 + T cells, follicular helper T cells and memory B cells, was found in high Rad-TILs tumors., Conclusions: Our study demonstrated the feasibility of radiomics model in predicting TILs status and provided a method to make the features interpretable, which will pave the way toward precision medicine for TNBC., (© 2022. Background: Homologous recombination (HR) is a key pathway in DNA double-strand damage repair. HR deficiency (HRD) occurs more commonly in triple-negative breast cancers (TNBCs) than in other breast cancer subtypes. Several clinical trials have demonstrated the value of HRD in stratifying breast cancer patients into distinct groups based on their responses to poly(ADP ribose) polymerase inhibitors and chemotherapy., Methods: We retrospectively collected TNBC samples to establish a multiomics cohort (n = 343) and explored the biological and phenotypic mechanisms underlying the better prognosis of patients with high HRD scores. Gene set enrichment analysis was conducted to elucidate the underlying pathways in patients with low HRD scores, and a radiomics model was established to predict the HRD score via a noninvasive method., Results: Multivariable Cox analysis revealed the independent prognostic value of a low HRD score (hazard ratio 2.20, 95% confidence interval 1.05-4.59; p = 0.04). Furthermore, amino acid and lipid metabolism pathways were highly enriched in tumors from patients with low HRD scores, which was also demonstrated by differential abundant metabolite analysis. A noninvasive radiomics method was developed to predict the HRD status and it performed well in the independent validation cohort (support vector machine model: area under the curve [AUC] 0.739, sensitivity 0.571, and specificity 0.824; logistic regression model: AUC 0.695, sensitivity 0.571, and specificity 0.882)., Conclusions: We revealed the prognostic value of the HRD score, predicted the HRD status with noninvasive radiomics features, and preliminarily explored druggable targets for TNBC patients with low HRD scores., (© 2022. Background: The clinical management and prognosis differ between benign and malignant solid focal liver lesions (FLLs), as well as among different pathological types of malignant FLLs. Accurate diagnosis of the possible types of solid FLLs is important. Our previous study confirmed the value of shear wave elastography (SWE) using maximal elasticity (Emax) as the parameter in the differential diagnosis between benign and malignant FLLs. However, the value of SWE in the differential diagnosis among different pathological types of malignant FLLs has not been proved., Aim: To explore the value of two-dimensional SWE (2D-SWE) using Emax in the differential diagnosis of FLLs, especially among different pathological types of malignant FLLs., Methods: All the patients enrolled in this study were diagnosed as benign, malignant or undetermined FLLs by conventional ultrasound. Emax of FLLs and the periphery of FLLs was measured using 2D-SWE and compared between benign and malignant FLLs or among different pathological types of malignant FLLs., Results: The study included 32 benign FLLs in 31 patients and 100 malignant FLLs in 96 patients, including 16 cholangiocellular carcinomas (CCCs), 72 hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) and 12 liver metastases. Thirty-five FLLs were diagnosed as undetermined by conventional ultrasound. There were significant differences between Emax of malignant (2.21 ± 0.57 m/s) and benign (1.59 ± 0.37 m/s) FLLs ( P = 0.000), and between Emax of the periphery of malignant (1.52 ± 0.39 m/s) and benign (1.36 ± 0.44 m/s) FLLs ( P = 0.040). Emax of liver metastases (2.73 ± 0.99 m/s) was significantly higher than that of CCCs (2.14 ± 0.34 m/s) and HCCs (2.14 ± 0.46 m/s) ( P = 0.002). The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 71.00%, 84.38% and 74.24% respectively, using Emax > 1.905 m/s (AUC 0.843) to diagnose as malignant and 23 of 35 (65.74%) FLLs with undetermined diagnosis by conventional ultrasound were diagnosed correctly., Conclusion: Malignant FLLs were stiffer than benign ones and liver metastases were stiffer than primary liver carcinomas. 2D-SWE with Emax was a useful complement to conventional ultrasound for the differential diagnosis of FLLs., Competing Interests: Conflict-of-interest statement: All the authors report no relevant conflicts of interest for this article., (©The Author(s) 2022. Background: Myricetin (Myr) is a flavonoid compound that exist widely in many natural plants. Myr has been proven to have multiple biological functions, including immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects., Purpose: In this study, we investigated the therapeutic effect of Myr on calcipotriol (MC903) induced atopic dermatitis (AD) mouse model and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α/interferon (IFN)-γ stimulated human immortal keratinocyte line (HaCaT) in vivo and in vitro., Methods: MC903 was applied topically to the left ears of mice to establish AD mouse model. After the AD model established successfully, the cream base, dexamethasone (DEX) cream or Myr cream were applied on the lesions of mice for 8 days. Through measuring ear thickness and scoring dermatitis severity, we evaluated the therapeutic effect of Myr, the draining lymph nodes (DLNs) and ears of the mice were collected for mechanistic study. In addition, TNF-α and IFN-γ-activated HaCaT cells were used to investigate the underlying mechanism., Results: Our data demonstrated that Myr alleviated the symptoms of AD by exerting anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic functions in vivo. We found that Myr treatment suppressed ear swelling and IgE level in the serum, reduced the infiltration of mast cells in skin lesions, decreased expressions of thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC), IL-4, IFN-γ and thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) in ear lesions, increased the expressions of filaggrin (FLG). Furthermore, our experimental results demonstrated that Myr down-regulated the mRNA expressions of T-bet and GATA-3 in DLNs. In vitro, Myr treatment decreased MDC and TARC expressions in IFN-γ and TNF-α-induced HaCaT cells by blocking the NF-κB and STAT1 signal pathway., Conclusion: The present study is the first to investigate the anti-atopic effects of Myr. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subset of breast cancer with an adverse prognosis and significant tumor heterogeneity. Here, we extract quantitative radiomic features from contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance images to construct a breast cancer radiomic dataset (n = 860) and a TNBC radiogenomic dataset (n = 202). We develop and validate radiomic signatures that can fairly differentiate TNBC from other breast cancer subtypes and distinguish molecular subtypes within TNBC. A radiomic feature that captures peritumoral heterogeneity is determined to be a prognostic factor for recurrence-free survival (p = 0.01) and overall survival (p = 0.004) in TNBC. Combined with the established matching TNBC transcriptomic and metabolomic data, we demonstrate that peritumoral heterogeneity is associated with immune suppression and upregulated fatty acid synthesis in tumor samples. Demonstrating quantum communication complexity superiority non-trivially with currently available experimental systems is of utmost importance in quantum information science. Here, we propose a generalized entanglement-assisted communication complexity reduction protocol and analyze the robustness of its quantum superiority against the measurement imperfections, such as measurement basis deviation and choice probability bias, a common problem rarely studied before. We find that the quantum superiority can be obtained in a specific entangled state in a suitable range of measurement basis and basis choice parameters. And the quantum superiority strengthens with the increase of the entanglement degree of quantum states. By using the maximum entangled state and its corresponding optimal measurement, the result we obtained violated the optimal classical bound by 239 standard deviations. Besides, the robustness of effective measurement basis in dephasing and depolarizing quantum channels is also investigated. These results not only make a step forward in investigating sufficient experimental conditions to unambiguously demonstrate the superiority of quantum communication complexity but also help to develop relevant practical applications.

The development of nanotheranostics for precision imaging-guided regulated cell death-mediated synergistic tumor therapy is still challenging. Herein, a novel multifunctional nanotheranostic agent, iRGD-coated maleimide-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(lactic acid/glycolic acid)-encapsulated hydrophobic gold nanocages (AuNCs) and hydrophilic epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) (PAuE) is developed for multispectral optoacoustic tomography (MSOT)-guided photothermal therapy (PTT) and chemotherapy. The portions of necroptotic and apoptotic tumor cells were 52.9 and 5.4%, respectively, at 6 h post-incubation after the AuNC-induced mild PTT treatment, whereas they became 14.0 and 46.1% after 24 h, suggesting that the switch of the cell death pathway is a time-dependent process. Mild PTT facilitated the release of EGCG which induces the downregulation of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1α) expression to enhance apoptosis at a later stage, realizing a remarkable tumor growth inhibition in vivo. Moreover, RNA sequence analyses provided insights into the significant changes in genes related to the cross-talk between necroptosis and apoptosis pathways via PAuE upon laser irradiation. In addition, the biodistribution and metabolic pathways of PAuE have been successfully revealed by 3D MSOT. Taken together, this strategy of first combination of EGCG and AuNC-based photothermal agent via triggering necroptosis/apoptosis to downregulate HIF-1α expression in a tumor environment provides a new insight into anti-cancer therapy.

Background: Large fluctuations in blood glucose levels greatly impact the health and life span of elderly individuals. This study describes the characteristics of variability in glycemic indices in centenarians with the aim of emphasizing the importance of glycemic variability in elderly people., Methods: We recruited individuals from Rugao City, Jiangsu Province, China from April 2020 to May 2021. The study cohort included 60 centenarians and 60 first-generation offspring, as well as 20 randomly selected non-cohabitant control individuals aged 60-80 years. A FreeStyle Libre H (hospital version) continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device (Abbott Ireland UK) was used to measure glycemic variability. The indices measured included the time in target glucose range (TIR), time below target glucose range (TBR), time above target glucose range (TAR), mean amplitude of glycemic excursions (MAGE), mean of daily differences (MODD), coefficient of variation (CV), standard deviation of blood glucose (SDBG), continuous overlapping net glycemic action (CONGA), glucose management indicator (GMI) and estimated glycated hemoglobin (eHbA1c). Logistic regression was used to analyze the association between glycemic variability and longevity., Results: Mean blood glucose (MBG), eHbA1c, GMI, mean fasting plasma glucose (M-FPG) and CONGA were lower in the centenarian group ( p all < 0.05). PPGE-2 was higher in the control group than that measured in the centenarian and first-generation offspring groups ( p < 0.05). There were no differences between the groups in MAGE, MODD, MAG, or TIR ( p > 0.05). The risk of not achieving longevity increased with each one unit increase in MBG by 126% [2.26 (1.05-4.91)], eHbA1c by 67% [1.67 (1.03-2.72)], GMI by 568% [6.68 (1.11-40.30)], M-FPG by 365% [4.65 (1.57-13.75)], M-PPG1h by 98% [1.98 (1.18-3.31)], CONGA1 by 102% [2.02 (1.01-4.06)], Li by 200% [3.00 (1.04-8.61)], and PPGE-2 by 150% [2.50 (1.39-4.50)]. However, the risk of achieving longevity decreased with each unit increase of LBGI by 53% [0.47 (0.28-0.80)], ADRR by 60% [0.40 (0.18-0.86)], and TBR by 11% [0.89 (0.80-0.98)]., Conclusion: Fluctuation in blood glucose levels in centenarians is relatively small. To investigate the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) among residents in Chongchuan district, Nantong city in 2012 and 2018, and evaluate the effectiveness of community comprehensive management of DM. Based on the data of 17 780 and 13 382 residents in the cross-sectional surveys of the " National Demonstration Area for Comprehensive Prevention and Control of Chronic Diseases " project in Chongchuan District of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province in 2012 and 2018, 4 583 and 3 996 DM-related information were obtained. The population of Jiangsu Province in 2012 and 2018 was used as the reference for standardization. The rates of prevalence and management (including awareness, treatment, treatment of patients who knew their diabetic situation, control and control of patients under treatment) of DM in the two surveys were compared using chi-square test. The results showed that in 2012 and 2018, the prevalence rates of DM were 12.0% and 15.7% (χ² = 24.25, P <0.05), and the standardized rates were 10.1% and 10.8% (χ² = 1.05, P =0.306). The incidence rates were 5.7% and 2.3%, respectively (χ² = 55.60, P <0.05). The standardized prevalence rates in the two surveys were 9.7% and 11.6% for males (χ² = 3.66, P =0.056) and 10.5% and 9.9% for females (χ² = 0.50, P =0.481), 7.2% and 6.5% (χ² = 0.85, P =0.357) for people aged 18-59 years old and 20.6% and 21.9% (χ² = 0.91, P =0.339) for people aged 60 years and over, respectively. The standardized rates of awareness, treatment, treatment of patients who knew their diabetic situation, control, and control of patients under treatment in 2018 were 84.4%, 80.3%, 95.2%, 58.4%, and 70.2%, respectively, higher than 47.2%, 23.4%, 44.8%, 30.4% and 59.4% in 2012 (χ² = 183.33, χ² = 380.65, χ² = 282.99, χ² = 93.24, χ² = 6.22, all P <0.05). Similarly, the standardized management rates in 2018 were 83.0%, 81.7%, 98.5%, 54.1% and 65.1%, higher than 44.0%, 10.0%, 18.3%, 28.2% and 48.8% in 2012 among women (χ² = 105.52, χ² = 326.36, χ² = 317.22, χ² = 43.34, χ² = 3.87, all P <0.05). The standardized rates of awareness, treatment, treatment of patients who knew their diabetic situation, and control of people aged 18-59 and 60 years and over were 82.9%, 79.7%, 96.1%, 55.0% and 88.0%, 81.8%, 93.0% and 67.2%, higher than 42.6%, 19.8%, 42.2%, 27.5% and 63.9%, 36.8%, 53.9%, 40.8% in 2012 (χ² = 44.51, χ² = 102.17, χ² = 57.78, χ² = 21.65, all P <0.05; χ² = 71.18, χ² = 181.55, χ² = 146.26, χ² = 59.23, all P <0.05). The comprehensive prevention and control system of chronic diseases, which comprehensively covered the life of community residents, had good management effect on DM, and effectively promoted health education and health promotion.

Immunotherapy has rejuvenated cancer therapy, especially after anti-PD-(L)1 came onto the scene. Among the many therapeutic options, therapeutic cancer vaccines are one of the most essential players. Although great progress has been made in research on tumor antigen vaccines, few phase III trials have shown clinical benefits. One of the reasons lies in obstruction from the tumor microenvironment (TME). Meanwhile, the therapeutic cancer vaccine reshapes the TME in an ambivalent way, leading to immune stimulation or immune escape. In this review, we summarize recent progress on the interaction between therapeutic cancer vaccines and the TME. With respect to vaccine resistance, innate immunosuppressive TME components and acquired resistance caused by vaccination are both involved. Background: This study was aimed to develop a novel dynamic measurement technique for testing the material properties and investigating the effect of continuous compression load on the structural and mechanical properties of human heel pad during actual gait., Methods: The dual fluoroscopic imaging system (DFIS) and dynamic foot-ground contact pressure-test plate were used for measuring the material properties, including primary thickness, peak strain, peak stress, elastic modulus, viscous modulus and energy dissipation rate (EDR), both at time zero and following continuous loading. Ten healthy pilot subjects, aged from 23 to 72 (average: 46.5 ± 17.6), were enrolled. A "three-step gait cycle" is performed for all subjects, with the second step striking at a marked position on the force plate with the heel to maintain the location of the tested foot to be in the view of fluoroscopes. The subjects were measured at both relaxed (time-zero group) and fatigue (continuous-loading group) statuses, and the left and right heels were measured using the identical procedures., Results: The peak strain, peak stress, elastic modulus, and EDR are similar before and after continuous load, while the viscous modulus was significantly decreased (median: 43.9 vs. 20.37 kPa•s; p < 0.001) as well as primary thicknesses (median: 15.99 vs. 15.72 mm; p < 0.001). Age is demonstrated to be moderately correlated with the primary thicknesses both at time zero (R = -0.507) and following continuous load (R = -0.607). The peak stress was significantly correlated with the elastic modulus before (R = 0.741) and after continuous load (R = 0.802). The peak strain was correlated with the elastic modulus before (R = -0.765) and after continuous load (R = -0.801). The correlations between the viscous modulus and peak stress/ peak strain are similar to above(R = 0.643, 0.577, - 0.586 and - 0.717 respectively). The viscous modulus is positively correlated with the elastic modulus before (R = 0.821) and after continuous load (R = 0.784)., Conclusions: By using dynamic fluoroscopy combined with the plantar pressure plate, the in vivo viscoelastic properties and other data of the heel pad in the actual gait can be obtained. Age was negatively correlated with the primary thickness of heel pad and peak strain, and was positively correlated with viscous modulus. Background: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA methylation and its methyltransferase METTL3 have been widely reported to be involved in different cancers by regulating RNA metabolism and function. Here, we aimed to explore the biological function and clinical significance of m6A modification and METTL3 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC)., Methods: The prognostic value of METTL3 expression was evaluated using tissue microarray and immunohistochemical staining analyses in a human HNSCC cohort. The biological role and mechanism of METTL3 in HNSCC tumour growth, metastasis and angiogenesis were determined in vitro and in vivo., Results: M6A levels and METTL3 expressions in HNSCC tissues were significantly increased compared with paired adjacent tissues. Meanwhile, METTL3 was an independent risk factor for the prognosis of HNSCC patients. Moreover, METTL3 overexpression promoted HNSCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis, while knockdown of METTL3 had an opposite effect in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistically, METTL3 enhanced the m6A modification of CDC25B mRNA, which maintained its stability and upregulated its expression, thereby activating G2/M phase of cell cycle and leading to HNSCC malignant progression., Conclusions: METTL3 may be a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for HNSCC., (© 2022. Objective: To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of high-grade B-cell lymphoma (HGBL) involving combined rearrangements of MYC, bcl-2 and bcl-6. Methods: A total of 1 138 cases of large B cell lymphoma (LBL) that were treated at the Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine from January 2017 to September 2020 were analyzed using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) with probes against MYC, bcl-2 and bcl-6. The clinical and pathological data of the 45 patients with HGBL that had rearrangements of MYC and bcl-2 and/or bcl-6 were collected and retrospectively analyzed. Results: Among the 1 138 LBL, 45 (4.0%) cases had combined rearrangements of MYC, bcl-2 and/or bcl-6 that included 6 HGBL cases with MYC, bcl-2 and bcl-6 rearrangements, 14 HGBL cases with MYC and bcl-2 rearrangements, and 25 HGBL cases with MYC and bcl-6 rearrangements. Of these 45 patients, 29 patients were male, and 16 patients were female, aged 29 to 83 years. HGBL with MYC, bcl-2 and bcl-6 rearrangements and HGBL with MYC and bcl-2 rearrangement were reclassified as the germinal center B-cell (GCB) subtype using the Hans algorithm. HGBL with MYC and bcl-6 rearrangement were reclassified as the GCB subtype (68.0%) and the non-GCB subtype (32.0%). The vast majority of HGBL cases had a high Ki-67 proliferation index. Most HGBL patients had advanced stage disease with a high IPI score and an increased LDH level. Also, some patients had clinical features including elevated plasma β2-microglobulin levels, B symptoms, and bone marrow involvement. The IPI scores and LDH levels were significantly different between the HGBL cases with MYC, bcl-2 and bcl-6 rearrangements and the HGBL cases with MYC and bcl-6 rearrangements ( P <0.05). Compared with the HGBL cases with MYC, bcl-2 and bcl-6 rearrangements, the HGBL cases with MYC and bcl-2 or bcl-6 rearrangements had a lower incidence of bone marrow involvement ( P <0.05). There were no significant differences in the prognosis among HGBL cases with MYC, bcl-2 and bcl-6 rearrangements, the cases with MYC and bcl-2 rearrangements, and the cases with MYC and bcl-6 rearrangements ( P >0.05). Conclusions: HGBL with MYC, bcl-2 and/or bcl-6 rearrangements are rare types of B-cell lymphoma with high degree of malignancy and have a short overall survival. To reduce misdiagnosis and improve diagnostic accuracy, it is necessary to assess the patients' clinical features and conduct histopathological, immunohistochemical and FISH analyses.

Transport properties of mixtures in the warm dense matter (WDM) regime play an important role in natural astrophysics. However, a physical understanding of ionic transport properties in quasisymmetric liquid mixtures has remained elusive. Here, we present extensive ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations on the ionic diffusion and viscosity of a quasisymmetric binary nitrogen-oxygen (N-O) mixture in a wide warm dense regime of 8-120 kK and 4.5-8.0 g/cm^{3}. Diffusion and viscosity of N-O mixtures with different compositions are obtained by using the Green-Kubo formula. Unlike asymmetric mixtures, the change of proportions in N-O mixtures slightly affects the viscosity and diffusion in the strong-coupling region. Furthermore, the AIMD results are used to build and verify a global pseudo-ion in jellium (PIJ) model for ionic transport calculations. The PIJ model succeeds in reproducing the transport properties of N-O mixtures where ionization has occurred, and provides a promising alternative approach to obtaining comparable results to AIMD simulations with relatively small computational costs. Our current results highlight the characteristic features of the quasisymmetric binary mixtures and demonstrate the applicability of the PIJ model in the WDM regime.

Spontaneous magnetic field generation plays important role in laser-plasma interactions. Strong quasi-static magnetic fields affect the thermal conductivity and the plasma dynamics, particularly in the case of ultra intense laser where the magnetic part of Lorentz force becomes as significant as the electric part. Kinetic simulations of giga-gauss magnetic field amplification via a laser irradiated microtube structure reveal the dynamics of charged particle implosions and the mechanism of magnetic field growth. A giga-gauss magnetic field is generated and amplified with the opposite polarity to the seed magnetic field. The spot size of the field is comparable to the laser wavelength, and the lifetime is hundreds of femtoseconds. An analytical model is presented to explain the underlying physics. The plasmonic properties of noble metallic nanoparticles could be tuned by morphology and composition, enabling opportunities for applications in sensors, photocatalysis, biomedicine, and energy conversion. Here, we report a method of the symmetric and asymmetric overgrowth of a Ag shell onto gold nanorods assisted by Pt pre-deposition via a 2-step approach. Firstly, gold nanorods (AuNRs), synthesized via a seed-mediated method, were used as seeds to form a AuNR-Pt structure, by using K 2 PtCl 4 as the precursor. In this step, most of the Pt material was selectively deposited on the tips of the AuNR. Secondly, by using AgNO 3 as the precursor, a Ag shell was overgrown on the surface of the AuNRs-Pt nanoparticles, resulting in a (AuNR-Pt)-Ag core-shell tri-metallic nanostructure. Due to the surface energy and lattice matching between Au and Ag, the Ag shell preferred to be epitaxially overgrown on the side of AuNR. The Ag shell thickness and symmetry of the (AuNR-Pt)-Ag could be tuned by changing the amounts of AgNO 3 precursor. With the increase of the Ag shell thickness, the (AuNR-Pt)-Ag nanostructures changed from symmetric to asymmetric. The obtained (AuNR-Pt)-Ag nanostructures were studied using UV-vis-NIR spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, EDS mapping, DLS, and ICP-MS. Chronic exposure of the methamphetamine has been shown to lead to neurotoxicity in rodents and humans. The manifestations of methamphetamine neurotoxicity include methamphetamine use disorder, methamphetamine abuse, methamphetamine addiction and methamphetamine behavioral sensitization. Repeated use of methamphetamine can cause methamphetamine use disorder. The abuse and addiction of methamphetamine are growing epidemic worldwide. Repeated intermittent exposure to methamphetamine can cause behavioral sensitization. In addition, many studies have shown that changes in the expression of non-coding RNA in the ventral tegmental area and nucleus accumbens will affect the behavioral effects of methamphetamine. Non-coding RNA plays an important role in the behavioral effects of methamphetamine. Therefore, it is important to study the relationship between methamphetamine and non-coding RNA. OBJECTIVE. The purpose of our study was to develop a radiomics model based on preoperative MRI and clinical information for predicting recurrence-free survival (RFS) in patients with advanced high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC). MATERIALS AND METHODS. This retrospective study enrolled 117 patients with HGSOC, including 90 patients with recurrence and 27 without recurrence; 1046 radiomics features were extracted from T2-weighted images and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images using a manual segmentation method. L1 regularization-based least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression was performed to select features, and the synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) was used to balance our dataset. A support vector machine (SVM) classifier was used to build the classification model. To validate the performance of the proposed models, we applied a leave-one-out cross-validation method to train and test the classifier. Cox proportional hazards regression, Harrell concordance index (C-index), and Kaplan-Meier plots analysis were used to evaluate the associations between radiomics signatures and RFS. RESULTS. The fusion radiomics-based model yielded a significantly higher AUC value of 0.85 in evaluating RFS than the model using contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging features alone or T2-weighted imaging features alone (AUC = 0.79 and 0.74 and p = .02 and .01, respectively). Kaplan-Meier survival curves showed significant differences between high and low recurrence risk in patients with HGSOC by different models. The fusion model combining radiomics features and clinical information showed higher performance than the clinical model (C-index = 0.62 and 0.60, respectively). CONCLUSION. The proposed MRI-based radiomics signatures may provide a potential way to develop a prediction model and can help identify patients with advanced HGSOC who have a high risk of recurrence.

Hydrogen ion is an attractive charge carrier for energy storage due to its smallest radius. However, hydrogen ions usually exist in the form of hydronium ion (H 3 O + ) because of its high dehydration energy; the choice of electrode materials is thus greatly limited to open frameworks and layered structures with large ionic channels. Here, the desolvation of H 3 O + is achieved by using anatase TiO 2 as anodes, enabling the H + intercalation with a strain-free characteristic. Density functional theory calculations show that the desolvation effects are dependent on the facets of anatase TiO 2 . Anatase TiO 2 (001) surface, a highly reactive surface, impels the desolvation of H 3 O + into H + . When coupled with a MnO 2 cathode, the proton battery delivers a high specific energy of 143.2 Wh/kg at an ultrahigh specific power of 47.9 kW/kg. The modulation of the interactions between ions and electrodes opens new perspectives for battery optimizations.

Background and Aims: Tumor microenvironment plays an essential role in cancer development and progression. Cancer immunotherapy has become a promising approach for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We aimed to analyze the HCC immune microenvironment characteristics to identify immune-related genetic changes., Methods: Key immune-relevant genes (KIRGs) were obtained through integrating the differentially expressed genes of The Cancer Genome Atlas, immune genes from the Immunology Database and Analysis Portal, and immune differentially expressed genes determined by single-sample gene set enrichment analysis scores. Cox regression analysis was performed to mine therapeutic target genes. A regulatory network based on KIRGs, transcription factors, and immune-related long non-coding RNAs (IRLncRNAs) was also generated. The outcomes of risk score model were validated in a testing cohort and in clinical samples using tissue immunohistochemistry staining. Correlation analysis between risk score and immune checkpoint genes and immune cell infiltration were investigated., Results: In total, we identified 21 KIRGs, including programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte associated protein 4 (CTLA4), and found IKBKE, IL2RG, EDNRA, and IGHA1 may be equally important to PD-1 or CTLA4 . Meanwhile, KIRGs, various transcription factors, and IRLncRNAs were integrated to reveal that the NRF1-AC127024.5-IKBKE axis might be involved in tumor immunity regulation. Furthermore, the immune-related risk score model was established according to KIRGs and key IRLncRNAs, and verified more obvious discriminating power in the testing cohort. Correlation analysis indicated TNFSF4 , LGALS9 , KIAA1429 , IDO2 , and CD276 were closely related to the risk score, and CD4 T cells, macrophages, and neutrophils were the primary immune infiltration cell types., Conclusions: Our results highlight the importance of immune genes in the HCC microenvironment and further unravel the underlying molecular mechanisms in the development of HCC., Competing Interests: The authors have no conflict of interests related to this publication., (© 2021 Authors.)

Chronic pain of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) greatly affects the quality of life and functional activities of patients. It is important to clarify the underlying mechanisms of KOA pain and the analgesic effect of different therapies. Neuroimaging technology has been widely used in the basic and clinical research of pain. In the recent years, neuroimaging technology has played an important role in the basic and clinical research of KOA pain. Increasing evidence demonstrates that chronic pain in KOA includes both nociceptive and neuropathic pain. The neuropathic mechanism involved in KOA pain is complex, which may be caused by peripheral or central sensitization. In this paper, we review the regional changes of brain pathophysiology caused by KOA pain based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electroencephalogram (EEG), magnetoencephalogram (MEG), near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and other neuroimaging techniques. We also discuss the central analgesic mechanism of different KOA therapies, with a focus on the latest achievements in the evaluation and prediction of pain. We hope to provide new thoughts for the treatment of KOA pain, especially in the early and middle stages of KOA.

The oak flea weevil, Rhynchaenus maculosus Yang et Zhang 1991, is a newly emerging pest that severely damages oak (genus Quercus ) in China. The first R. maculosus outbreak occurred in 2020 and caused spectacular damage to all oak forests in Jilin province, northeast China. The lack of key morphological characters complicates the identification of this native pest, especially in larva and pupa stages. This is problematic because quick and accurate species identification is crucial for early monitoring and intervention during outbreaks. Here, we provided the first detailed morphological description of R. maculosus at four life stages. Additionally, we used DNA barcodes from larva and pupa specimens collected from three remote locations for molecular identification. The average pairwise divergence of all sequences in this study was 0.51%, well below the 2% to 3% (K-2-parameter) threshold set for one species. All sample sequences matched the R. maculosus morphospecies (KX657706.1 and KX657707.1), with 99.23% to 100% (sequence identity, E value: 0.00) matching success. The tree based on barcodes placed the specimens into the Rhynchaenus group, and the phylogenetic relationship between 62 sequences (30 samples and 32 from GeneBank) had high congruence with the morphospecies taxa. The traditional DNA barcodes were successfully transformed into quick response codes with larger coding capacity for information storage. The results showed that DNA barcoding is reliable for R. maculosus identification. The integration of molecular and morphology-based methods contributes to accurate species identification of this newly emerging oak pest.

Dynamic mitigation for the tearing mode instability in the current sheet in collisionless plasmas is demonstrated by applying a wobbling electron current beam. The initial small amplitude modulations imposed on the current sheet induce the electric current filamentation and the reconnection of the magnetic field lines. When the wobbling or oscillatory motion is added from the electron beam having a form of a thin layer moving along the current sheet, the perturbation phase is mixed and consequently the instability growth is saturated remarkably, like in the case of the feed-forward control.

The most advantageous and attractive property of photoacoustic imaging is its capability to visualize and differentiate multiple species according to their unique absorbance profiles simultaneously in a single mixture. We here report the pH-sensitive near-infrared (NIR) croconaine (Croc) dyes-loaded copolymeric PEG-PLGA nanoparticles (NPs) for in vivo multiplexed PA imaging and pH-responsive photothermal therapy (PTT) in an orthotopic xenograft model. PEG chains on the polymeric NPs shell were conjugated with iRGD in another set of NPs to realize efficient tumor targeting. The distribution and the intensity of two sets of iRGD-targeted and nontargeted NPs inside tumors are simultaneously imaged and monitored in vivo . Meanwhile, the utilization of iRGD-targeted PPC 815 NPs as a pH-active photothermal agent with promising tumor-inhibition efficacy was demonstrated. As a result, this nanoplatform is capable of assisting multiwavelength unmixing of PA imaging as well as providing remarkable photothermal ablation for anticancer treatment.

Objective: To investigate the value of chromosomes 7 and 8 polysomy in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) for the diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer, and the correlation of CTCs with clinical pathological characteristics and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in cancer tissue. Methods: Fifty-seven patients with non-small cell lung cancer and 21 patients with benign lung diseases were enrolled at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China from November 2017 to October 2020. Negative enrichment combined with immunofluorescence in situ hybridization (imFISH) was used to identify CTCs polysomy on chromosomes 7 and 8. EGFR mutations in 56 lung cancer patients was detected using ARMS-PCR. Results: CTCs were detected in 93.0% (53/57) of non-small cell lung cancers and 28.6% (6/21) benign lung lesions. The difference between lung cancer patients and the control cohort was statistically significant ( P <0.01). Receive operator curve (ROC) analyses showed that, when the cut-off value was 1 cell/3.2 mL, Youden index had the highest sensitivity of 93.0% and specificity of 71.4% (AUC=0.906, 95% CI :0.833-0.980, P <0.01). The positive rate of CTCs in stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ cancers was significantly higher than that in stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ ( P =0.023). No significant correlation was observed between positive rate of CTCs or chromosome polysomy and age, gender, smoking status, pathologic types and EGFR mutation status. The number of CTCs in EGFR mutated group was higher than that in the non-mutated group (6.5±1.1 vs. 3.7±0.7, P =0.045). The detection rate for CTCs ≥5 in the EGFR mutated group was also higher than the EGFR non-mutated group (52.0% vs. 19.4%, P =0.010). Conclusion: Detection of CTCs with chromosomes 7 and 8 polysomy has potential value in auxiliary diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer, and the number of CTCs is correlated to TNM stage and EGFR gene mutation status.

Background: Circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as potential biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases. However, few studies have focused on the role of exosomal miRNAs in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The purpose of this study was to explore weather serum exosomal microRNA-146a (exo-miR-146a) could be used as a novel diagnostic biomarker for ACS and to investigate its relationship with inflammatory response., Methods: A total of 63 ACS patients and 25 patients with normal coronary arteries (Control) were enrolled respectively. The serum exosomes were isolated and then identified by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), western blot, and nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA). The expression levels of exo-miR-146a in serum were detected by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and the expression levels of interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in serum were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Spearman's correlation analysis was used to appraise the potential factors related to serum exo-miR-146a and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was applied for predicting the accuracy of ACS via the area under curve (AUC)., Results: Exosomes isolated from serum were of typical cup-like shape, with 50-150 nm diameter, and expressed CD9, CD63, CD81, and HSP70. The expression levels of serum exo-miR-146a, IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α were significantly increased in ACS patients compared with the control group, Spearman's correlation analysis indicated that exo-miR-146a expression was markedly positively correlated with IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. In this study, nanocrystals of a cerium-based metal-organic framework (Ce-MOF), Ce-MOF-808, are directly grown on the surface of carboxylic acid-functionalized carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by a facile one-step solvothermal synthesis method. Ce-MOF-CNT nanocomposites with various Ce-MOF-to-CNT ratios are synthesized, and their crystallinity, morphology, porosity, and electrical conductivity are examined. The redox-hopping and electrochemical behaviors of the pristine Ce-MOF in aqueous electrolytes are investigated, suggesting that the pristine Ce-MOF is electrochemically active but possesses a limited charge-transport behavior. As a demonstration, all the Ce-MOF, CNT, and nanocomposites are used as active materials for application in aqueous-based supercapacitors. The capacitive performance of the CNT can be significantly boosted with the help of redox-active Ce-MOF-808 nanocrystals.

Zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1) is an important transcription factor in epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) which participates in the numerous life processes, such as embryonic development, fibrosis and tumor progression. ZEB1 has multiple functions in human body and plays a crucial part in some life processes. ZEB1 is vital for the formation and development of the organs in the embryonic period. The abnormal expression of ZEB1 is a predictor for the poor prognosis or the poor survival in several cancers. ZEB1 contributes to the occurrence of fibrosis, cancer and even chemoresistance. Some research is indicated that fibrosis is finally developed into the cancers. Therefore, ZEB1 is probably taken as a biomarker in fibrosis or cancer. In this review, it is predicted of the structure of ZEB1 and the protein binding sites of ZEB1 with some protein, and it is discussed about the roles of ZEB1 in fibrosis and cancer progression to elaborate the potential applications of ZEB1 in clinic.

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy and superiority of direct lateral interbody fusion combined with posterior percutaneous screw fixation in the treatment of lumbar tuberculosis., Methods: From June 2013 to August 2016, the clinical data of 83 patients with lumbar tuberculosis were retrospectively analyzed, including 55 males and 28 females, aged from 27 to 72 (49.5±13.5) years. These 83 patients were divided into two groups according to different operation methods, 35 cases in group A were treated with direct lateral interbody fusion combined with posterior percutaneous screw fixation;48 cases in group B were treated with anterior traditional extraperitoneal debridement combined with posterior internal fixation. After operation, regular quadruple antituberculosis drugs were continued for 18 months. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay, bone graft fusion time and complications were compared between the two groups. Visual analogue score (VAS) of lumbar pain, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), sagittal Cobb angle, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein(CRP) values before and after operation were analyzed., Results: The operation was successfully completed in both groups, and the operation mode was not changed during operation. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss and hospital stay were (149.4±13.3) min, (354.3±69.0) ml, (9.4±1.6) d in group A and(116.8±10.0) min, (721.9±172.3) ml, (11.8±1.7) d in group B, respectively, with significant difference between the two groups ( P <0.05). The follow up time was (24.2±5.1) months in group A and (24.0±5.0) months in group B, there was no significant difference between two groups ( P >0.05). At the follow-up of 4 months after operation, one patient in group A was found to have enlarged psoas major abscess on the contralateral side, and was cured after secondary operation. No sinus formation, cerebrospinal fluid leakage, internal fixation loosening, fracture or distal junction kyphosis were found during follow-up. The fusion time was (5.1±1.6) months in group A and (5.1± 1.7) months in group B, there was no significant difference between two groups ( P >0.05). The VAS, ODI score, sagittal Cobb angle, ESR and CRP value of the lesion segment at the last follow-up of the two groups were significantly improved ( P <0.05), but there was no significant difference between two groups ( P >0.05)., Conclusion: The two kinds of operation can obtain satisfactory clinical effect. Direct lateral interbody fusion combined with posterior percutaneous screw fixation can reduce intraoperative blood loss and hospital stay, which is conducive to early rehabilitation of patients.

Objective: To explore The feasibility of digital guidance drill templates assisted expansive open-door laminoplasty. Methods: Ten specimens of normal adult cervical spine (C 3-7 ) were selected, including six males and four females. The specimens aged 42-67 years, with an average age of (43.6±4.2) years. After CT scanning, the date was imported into Mimics software in DICOM format. 3D models were reconstructed and the position and depth of troughs on the open side and hinge side were selected for expansive open-door laminoplasty. Drill templates were designed and exported in STL, manufactured by 3D printing finally. Then drill templates were attached to the posterior part of cervical lamina and spinous process. Under guidance of templates, troughs of both sides were conducted by using a high-speed drill. Then the lamina is elevated and instrumentations were implanted. Postoperative CT scanning was conducted to record the fracture of trough on the hinge side. 3D reconstruction was performed again to compare the position and depth between theory and actual trough on both sides by paired t test. Results: A total of 50 drill templates were designed and manufactured. There was no occurrence of hinge fracture after operation. In C 3-7 , the distance range between the theory position of troughs on the open side and the midline was 11.8-14.4 mm, while in actual it was 11.4-14.0 mm. The distance range between the theory position of troughs on the hinge side and the midline was 11.6-14.3 mm; in actual, it was 10.9-14.0 mm. The theory depth range of trough on the hinge side was 3.0-3.8 mm, while the actual depth was 3.1-3.8 mm. According to the statistical analysis, the difference in the position of trough on the open side, the position of trough on the hinge side and the depth of trough on the hinge side between theory and actual were not statistically significant (all P >0.05). Conclusion: Digital guided template assisted open-door laminoplasty is a feasible technique, which can improve the accuracy and safety of the position and depth of the trough, and has clinical application value.

Shock reverberation compression experiments on dense gaseous deuterium-helium mixtures are carried out to provide thermodynamic parameters relevant to the conditions in planetary interiors. The multishock pressures are determined up to 120 GPa and reshock temperatures to 7400 K. Furthermore, the unique compression path from shock-adiabatic to quasi-isentropic compressions enables a direct estimation of the high-pressure sound velocities in the unexplored range of 50-120 GPa. The equation of state and sound velocity provide particular dual perspectives to validate the theoretical models. Our experimental data are found to agree with several equation of state models widely used in astrophysics within the probed pressure range. The current data improve the experimental constraints on sound velocities in the Jovian insulating-to-metallic transition layer.

In this study, a strategy that can result in the polyaniline (PANI) solely confined within the nanopores of a metal-organic framework (MOF) without forming obvious bulk PANI between MOF crystals is developed. A water-stable zirconium-based MOF, UiO-66-NH 2 , is selected as the MOF material. The polymerization of aniline is initiated in the acidic suspension of UiO-66-NH 2 nanocrystals in the presence of excess poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS). Since the pore size of UiO-66-NH 2 is too small to enable the insertion of the bulky PSS, the quick formation of pore-confined solid PANI and the slower formation of well dispersed PANI:PSS occur within the MOF crystals and in the bulk solution, respectively. By taking advantage of the resulting homogeneous PANI:PSS polymer solution, the bulk PANI:PSS can be removed from the PANI/UiO-66-NH 2 solid by successive washing the sample with fresh acidic solutions through centrifugation. As this is the first time reporting the PANI solely confined in the pores of a MOF, as a demonstration, the obtained PANI/UiO-66-NH 2 composite material is applied as the electrode material for supercapacitors. Microvesicles participate in the communication between cells by fusing with the recipient cells to transfer the bioactive molecules, such as lipids, proteins, RNA, etc., to the target cells. Microvesicles are involved in various biological processes and have the functions of regulating immunity, promoting angiogenesis, and so on. Microvesicles derived from various cells may become the diagnostic biomarkers or therapeutic targets for the diseases. Therefore, exploring the role of microvesicles-mediated cell communication has become a potential therapeutic target for pulmonary arterial hypertension., Objective: It is to clarify the classification, features, and mechanism of microvesicles in cell communication and to discuss the potentially important roles of microvesicles-mediated cell communication in pulmonary arterial hypertension., Results: Inflammation is an important pathogenesis of pulmonary arterial hypertension. Calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) is widely involved in the cell proliferation, differentiation, migration, adhesion and apoptosis, which can affect the vascular remodeling in the humanbody. The main ligand of CaSR is extracellular Ca 2+ . CaSR has the physiological significance in Ca 2+ homeostasis. Pulmonary vascular remodeling is one of the main histopathological changes of pulmonary hypertension (PH). The abnormal proliferation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) results in the pulmonary vascular remodeling. CaSR is an important regulator of [Ca 2+ ] i . [Ca 2+ ] i is the main cause of the excessive pulmonary vascular remodeling in patients with PH. In this review, it was conclued that the structure of CaSR was prone to explore the devolopment or the treatment of PH. It was found that the regulation of CaSR with some miRNA could inhibit the proliferation of PASMCs, and that CaSR could affect the occurrence of autophagy in PH. Therefore, CaSR would become a new therapeutic target to PH.

Objective: To evaluate the best entry region and trajectory of anterior transpedicular root screws (ATPRS). Methods: From January 2018 to May 2019, 50 cervical CT date integral of healthy people were selected from Ningbo No. 6 Hospital and were confirmed no obvious defect. Of these, 24 cases were males and 26 were females, aged 20-49 (32±5) years. The CT data was imported into Mimics by DICOM format, then 3D reconstruction was performed. In the coronal plane, the area from the centreline of the anterior of C(3-7) to the left Z-line(marked a line through the intersection of the anterior of the luschak joint and upper endplates, parallel to the centralline of the anterior of the vertebral body) was divided into nine areas. Then virtual screw with diameter of 3.5 mm was inserted. Record the length of screw of each area (L), the angle between screw and the posterior of the vertebral body in horizontal plane(α), the angle between screw and the anterior of the vertebral body in sagittal plane (β), individually. The data between groups were compared by independent sample t test. Results: The best regions were zone 9 of C(3), C(4); zone 8, 9 of C(5); zone 2-3, 5-9 of C(6); zone 1-9 of C(7) in men. And these were zone 9 of C(3); zone 3, 6, 8 and 9 of C(4), C(5); zone 2-3, 5-9 of C(6); zone 1-9 of C(7) in women. The distribution of best region was almost the same in men and women, zone 9 of each segment was the best region, and the screw length was the longest. It increased gradually from C(3) to C(7). C(3) had the least region, C(4) and C(5) had less, while C(6) and C(7) had the most. The horizontal angle of C(3-7) in men and women were 44.0°-47.2°, 40.2°-45.3° in zone 1, 4 and 7, respectively; 35.1°-41.4°, 34.6°-38.7° in zone 2, 5 and 8, respectively; 30.0°-37.2°, 30.2°-34.5° in zone 3, 6 and 9, respectively; and it demonstrated a gradually decreased trend. The sagittal angle of C(3-7) in men and women was 85.3°-97.4°, 80.5°-88.9° in zone 1-3, respectively; 101.2°-113.7°, 101.0°-109.3° in zone 4-6, respectively; 116.6°-128.8°, 119.9°-125.3° in zone 7-9, respectively; and it demonstrated a gradually increased trend. There was no significant difference in the horizontal and sagittal angle between men and women (both P> 0.05). Conclusions: Anterior transpedicular root screw is a feasible internal fixation technique. It has wide region and the Z-line can be used as a reference for screw placement.

The transport properties of warm dense neon (Ne) and krypton (Kr) are studied by combining self-consistent fluid variational theory (SFVT) with linear response theory (LRT). The components are determined using the SFVT, and the transport parameters, including the electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and thermopower, are calculated with the LRT. The relevant scattering mechanisms, including electron-ion, electron-electron, and electron-atom scatterings, are taken into account. An effective potential model in combination with the Muffin-tin model is introduced to further improve the description for electron-atom scattering, which not only includes static, exchange, and polarization interactions but also considers the plasma environmental effects. It is found that for electron-atom scattering, the influence of the plasma density is significant at lower scattering energies but the effects are different for electron-Ne and electron-Kr scattering. For electron-Kr scattering, a plasma density-dependent Ramsauer-Townsend minimum is observed. The obtained transport parameters are compared with the available experiments and other simulations. The plasma phase transition of warm dense Kr is revisited from multiple perspectives based on the numerical simulation results for the electrical conductivity and thermopower. These observations may help one to better understand the transport properties of warm dense noble gases and are an important guide for future experimental designs and theoretical developments.

Lung toxicity is the main cause of the death from methamphetamine (MA) abuse, but its mechanism has remained unclear. The purpose of our study was to investigate if MA can induce epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and if RUNX3 is involved in oxidative EMT in MA-induced chronic lung injury. The rats were divided into the control group and MA group. Extracted lungs were used for morphological measurements and Western blot. The alveolar epithelial cells were cultured or transfected and then treated with MA or/and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) followed by flow cytometry, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry. Chronic exposure to MA resulted in the lower growth ratio of weight, increased right ventricular index, thickened alveolar walls, and reduced number of alveolar sacs. Long-term administration with MA caused oxidative stress and pulmonary EMT. NAC increased RUNX3 and alleviated EMT. However, after knockdown of RUNX3, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were significantly upregulated, indicating that RUNX3 was closely related to oxidative stress. Knockdown of RUNX3 aggravated MA-induced EMT by activating RUNX3-dependent TGF-β signaling. Therefore, RUNX3 may be the key to oxidative EMT in methamphetamine-induced chronic lung injury.

It has been proved in experiments that there are at least five phases of solid hydrogen at high pressure, however, only the structure of phase I has been absolutely determined. We revisited the phase space of solid hydrogen in the pressure range of 200-500 GPa using the particle swarm optimization technique combined with first-principles simulations. A novel orthorhombic structure named Ama 2 is proposed as a possible candidate structure for phase IV. The Ama 2 structure is a 'mixed structure' with two different types of layers and is distinctly different from the previously reported Pc structure. Enthalpies and Gibbs free energies show that Ama 2 and Pc are competitive in the pressure region of phase IV. Nevertheless, the Raman and infrared vibron frequencies of Ama 2 calculated by using density functional perturbation theory based on first-principles lattice dynamics show a better agreement with the experimental measurements than those of the Pc structure. And the pressure dependence of these low-frequency Raman vibrons of Ama 2 obtained from the first-principles molecular dynamics simulation shows a steeper slope, which resolves the long-standing issue of large discrepancies between the calculated Raman frequencies and the experimental ν 1 [P. Structural and vibrational analyses show that the hydrogen molecules in the weakly bonded molecular layer of Ama 2 form distorted hexagonal patterns, and their vibration can be used to explain the experimental ν 1 vibron. It is found that the weakly bonded layer is almost the same as the layers in the C 2/ c structure. This confirms the experimental conclusion [P. Loubeyre, F. Occelli and P. Dumas, Phys. Rev. Recent evidence suggests that CC chemokine ligand 20 (CCL20) is upregulated after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Here, we investigated the functions of CCL20 in SAH injury and its underlying mechanisms of action. We found that CCL20 is upregulated in an SAH mouse model and in cultured primary microglia and neurons. CCL20-neutralizing antibody alleviated SAH-induced neurological deficits, decreased brain water content and neuronal apoptosis, and repressed microglial activation. We observed increased levels of CCL20, CC chemokine receptor 6 (CCR6), interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), as well as of microglial activation in microglia treated with oxyhemoglobin (OxyHb). CCL20 or CCR6 knockdown reversed the effects of OxyHb on microglia. Conditioned medium from OxyHb-treated microglia induced neuronal apoptosis, while the percentage of apoptotic neurons in the conditioned medium from microglia transfected with CCL20 siRNA or CCR6 siRNA was decreased. We observed no decrease in OxyHb-induced apoptosis in CCL20-knockdown neurons. Conditioned medium from OxyHb-treated neurons led to microglial activation and induced CCR6, IL-1β and TNF-α expression, while CCL20 knockdown in neurons or CCR6 knockdown in microglia reversed those effects. Our results thus suggest CCL20 may be targeted to elicit therapeutic benefits after SAH injury.

In this paper we study photon emission in the interaction of the laser beam with an under-dense target and the attached reflecting plasma mirror. Photons are emitted due to the inverse Compton scattering when accelerated electrons interact with a reflected part of the laser pulse. The enhancement of photon generation in this configuration lies in using the laser pulse with a steep rising edge. Such a laser pulse can be obtained by the preceding interaction of the incoming laser pulse with a thin solid-density foil. Using numerical simulations we study how such a laser pulse affects photon emission. As a result of employing a laser pulse with a steep rising edge, accelerated electrons can interact directly with the most intense part of the laser pulse that enhances photon emission. This approach increases the number of created photons and improves photon beam divergence.

Hepatic fibrosis is a disease of the wound-healing response following chronic liver injury, and activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) play a crucial role in the progression of hepatic fibrosis. β-arrestin2 functions as a multiprotein scaffold to coordinate complex signal transduction networks. Although β-arrestin2 transduces diverse signals in cells, little is known about its involvement in the regulation of liver fibrosis. Our current study utilized a porcine serum-induced liver fibrosis model and found increased expression of β-arrestin2 in hepatic tissues with the progression of hepatic fibrosis, which was positively correlated with collagen levels. Furthermore, changes in human fibrotic samples were also observed. We next used β-arrestin2 -/- mice to demonstrate that β-arrestin2 deficiency ameliorates CCl 4 -induced liver fibrosis and decreases collagen deposition. The in vitro depletion and overexpression experiments showed that decreased β-arrestin2 inhibited HSCs collagen production and elevated TβRIII expression, thus downregulating the TGF-β1 pathway components Smad2, Smad3 and Akt. These findings suggest that β-arrestin2 deficiency ameliorates liver fibrosis in mice, and β-arrestin2 may be a potential treatment target in hepatic fibrosis.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine whether cervical elastographic parameters in addition to cervical length (CL) during the 3 trimesters of pregnancy would be predictive of spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB) among low-risk women., Methods: This work was a prospective nested case-control study evaluating cervical elastographic parameters and CL in low-risk women during the 3 trimesters of pregnancy. A binary logistic regression analysis was used to calculate significant covariates for prediction of sPTB. The area under the curve of the prediction model was calculated by using a receiver operating characteristic curve., Results: There were 286 women (26 cases and 260 controls) included in the analysis. The parameters of cervical elasticity became softened and heterogeneous during the 3 trimesters of pregnancy in both women with and without sPTB. The differences in the mean strain value at the internal os of the cervix (IOS), ratio (strain ratio of the internal os to the external os) during the second trimester and the IOS during the third trimester between the groups had statistical significance (P < .01; P = .01; P < .01, respectively). The CL had no association with sPTB during the 3 trimesters. The IOS during the second trimester was a better predictor of sPTB, with an area under the curve of 0.730, and sensitivity was 72.73%., Conclusions: We observed multiple elastographic parameters and demonstrated the physiologic changes in the cervix during the 3 trimesters of pregnancy. Furthermore, we found that the IOS during the second trimester can be helpful in predicting sPTB. A dynamic mitigation is presented for sausage and kink instability growths of a z-current-driven magnetized plasma column. In this Rapid Communication we found that a wobbling motion of the z-current electron axis induces a phase-controlled perturbation, so that the growths of the sausage and kink instabilities are successfully and remarkably mitigated. In general, plasma instabilities emerge from perturbations, and the perturbation phase is normally unknown. However, if the perturbation phase is known or actively imposed by, for example, a designed driver wobbling behavior, the instability growth would be controlled and mitigated by a superimposition of the perturbations imposed. The results in this Rapid Communication demonstrate that the wobbling z-current electron beam would provide an improvement in the plasma column stability and uniformity.

Objectives: SIRT1 is an antioxidative factor, but its mechanism in methamphetamine (MA)-induced lung injury remains unclear. The purpose of this study is to determine whether MA can disrupt the integrity of alveolar epithelial barrier, whether SIRT1 is involved in MA-induced chronic lung injury and whether Resveratrol (Res) can protect the integrity of alveolar epithelial cells by regulating ROS to activate SIRT1/PTEN/p-Akt pathway., Materials and Methods: The rats were randomly divided into control group and MA group. Extracted lungs were detected by Western blot, HE staining and immunohistochemistry. The alveolar epithelial cells were treated with MA or/and Res, following by Western blot, LDH leakage assay and flow cytometry. MOE is used for bio-informatics prediction., Results: Chronic exposure to MA can cause slower growth ratio of weight, increased RVI and induced lung injury including the reduced number of alveolar sacs and the thickened alveolar walls. MA-induced apoptosis was associated with SIRT1-related oxidative stress. Res suppressed ROS levels, activated SIRT1, negatively regulated PTEN, phosphorylated Akt, reduced LDH leakage, increased the expression of ZO-1 and E-cadherin and inhibited the apoptosis of alveolar epithelial cells to attenuate MA-induced higher permeability of alveolar epithelium., Conclusions: MA disrupted the integrity of alveolar epithelial barrier. Res inhibited oxidative stress and reversed MA-induced higher permeability and apoptosis of alveolar epithelium by the activation of SIRT1/PTEN/p-Akt pathway., (© 2020 The Authors. Objective: To investigate the influence of posterior osteotomy on spinopelvic parameters in lumbar degenerative kyphosis (LDK) patients., Methods: The clinical data of 21 patients with lumbar degenerative kyphosis who underwent osteotomy from January 2012 to December 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 5 males and 16 females, aged from 55 to 76 years with an average of (66.24±5.13) years. All patients had taken preoperative and postoperative full length spinal X-ray, analyzing the spinopelvic parameters as thoracic kyphosis (TK), lumbar lordosis (LL), sagittal vertical axis (SVA), pelvic incidence (PI), pelvic tilt (PT) and sacral slope (SS)., Results: All operations were successful, the average operative time was 190 min (160 to 220 min) and intraoperative blood loss was 1 000 ml (800 to 1900 ml). Parameters of the patients between preoperative and period 1-year follow-up were as follows : preoperative TK increased from (31.67±21.13) ° to (34.67±11.60) °, LL corrected from (4.76±3.17) ° to (37.41±6.28) °, PT reduced from (33.94±5.01) ° to (20.12±5.36) °, and SS improved from (18.47±2.60) ° to (31.71±4.30) °, SVA restored from (13.24±3.60) cm to (2.82±1.33) cm. There were significant differences of spinopelvic parameters between preoperation and postoperation ( P <0.05)., Conclusion: Posterior osteotomy can effectively reconstruct the sagittal balance of spinopelvis in patients with lumbar degenerative kyphosis. The recovery of lumbar lordosis and sacral slope is closely related to the reconstruction of sagittal balance.
