SCHLÜSSELWÖRTER gesteuerte Geweberegeneration, intraossäre Defekte, Langzeitergebnisse, Parodontalchirurgie, Tooth survival and clinical outcomes up to 26 years after guided tissue regeneration therapy in deep intra-bony defects: Follow-up investigation of three randomized clinical trials Fabian Cieplik1 | Insa Ihlenfeld1 | Karl-Anton Hiller1 | Andreas Pummer1 | Gottfried Schmalz1,2 | Wolfgang Buchalla1 | Michael Christgau1,3 1 Department of Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology, University Hospital Regensburg, Regensburg, Germany 2 Department of Periodontology, School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland 3 Private Practice, Düsseldorf, Germany Abstract Aim: To investigate tooth survival and clinical long-term outcomes up to 26 years following guided tissue regeneration (GTR) therapy in deep intra-bony defects. Methods: Patients from three prospective clinical split-mouth studies, which investigated the outcomes of GTR therapy, were re-evaluated 21–26 years after surgery independent of the membrane type used, and tooth survival was assessed according to several site-specific and patient-related factors. Results: About 50 patients contributing 102 defects were available for this long-term follow-up. After up to 26 years (median 23.3 years), 52.9% of the teeth were still in situ. The median survival of the extracted teeth was 13.8 years. Patients with diabetes mellitus and/or smoking history lost significantly more teeth in the long term. Compared to the 1-year situation, there was no new median CAL loss after up to 26 years in the teeth which were still in situ. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, our data show that more than 50% of the initially seriously diseased teeth were still in situ up to 26 years following GTR therapy despite an overall limited adherence to SPT. In the majority of these teeth, the CAL gain 1 year after GTR could be maintained over this long period. Using a Josephson Arbitrary Waveform Synthesizer (JAWS), we measure the AC-DC difference of a sampling digital voltmeter (SDVM) through direct sampling and subsampling. We also perform direct and differential sampling measurements of the amplitude of an AC voltage source, built at the National Research Council Canada (NRC), against the JAWS. Such calibrations of the SDVM and NRC voltage source could help maintain AC voltage traceability in between JAWS operations., 2020 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2020), August 24-28, 2020, Denver (Aurora), Colorado

International audience; Objective: Cannabis consumption during adolescence has been reported as a risk factor for psychotic-like experiences (PLEs) and schizophrenia. However, brain developmental processes associated with cannabis-related PLEs are still poorly described.Method: A total of 706 adolescents from the general population who were recruited by the IMAGEN consortium had structural magnetic resonance imaging scans at both 14 and 19 years of age. We used deformation-based morphometry to map voxelwise brain changes between the two time points, using the pairwise algorithm in SPM12b. We used an a priori region-of-interest approach focusing on the hippocampus/parahippocampus to perform voxelwise linear regressions. Lifetime cannabis consumption was assessed using the European School Survey Project on Alcohol and other Drugs (ESPAD), and PLEs were assessed with the Comprehensive Assessment Psychotic-like experiences (CAPE) tool. We first tested whether hippocampus/parahippocampus development was associated with PLEs. Then we formulated and tested an a priori simple mediation model in which uncus development mediates the association between lifetime cannabis consumption and PLEs.Results: We found that PLEs were associated with reduced expansion within a specific region of the right hippocampus/parahippocampus formation, the uncus (p = .002 at the cluster level, p = .018 at the peak level). The partial simple mediation model revealed a significant total effect from lifetime cannabis consumption to PLEs (b = 0.069, 95% CI = 0.04−0.1, p =2 × 10−16), as well as a small yet significant, indirect effect of right uncus development (0.004; 95% CI = 0.0004−0.01, p = .026).Conclusion: We show here that the uncus development is involved in the cerebral basis of PLEs in a population-based sample of healthy adolescents

The customary approach to modelling voltage transformers (VT) at gas insulate substations (GIS) subject to Very Fast Transients Overvoltages (VFTOs) consists of using a capacitive element. However, this simplistic approach is unable to reproduce characteristic resonances and predict how transients propagate to the VT’s secondary winding. Multiport black-box passive rational models built upon frequency-domain measurements are instrumental to overcome these challenges. The adoption of S-Parameters is an alternative to black-box approaches based on Y-Parameters so as to consistently expand the measurement frequency range which is required to accurately capture the dynamics involved in VFTO phenomena up to 50 MHz at GIS facilities. We validate our results using an strategy that entails measuring, modeling and simulation upon a multiport extra-high voltage (EHV) VT. The proposed approach using S-Parameters leads to increased accuracy compared with the customary approaches using Y-Parameters or capacitive elements. We build two models estimated upon distinct frequency ranges to highlight the importance of extending the measurements into the MHz range so that time-domain simulations better reproduce VFTO characteristics. The black-box VT model thus obtained is incorporated into an actual 500 kV GIS model for transient simulations enabling the analysis of transient propagation between primary and secondary windings.

Harry Benjamin, MD, was a pioneer physician who founded the transgender field and coined the term 'transsexual.' Benjamin drew criticism from some in the psychiatric community when he began treating transgendered people with cross-gender hormones and encouragement in their efforts in transitioning. By and large, psychiatrists of this time considered gender dysphoria as a manifestation of significant psychopathology and considered the treatment Benjamin was then prescribing as psychiatrically contraindicated. Rather than discouraging Benjamin, this response simply reinforced his feeling that psychiatry as a discipline lacked 'common sense.' The author worked with Dr. Benjamin for 6 years, was to become his heir apparent, but then left the practice to undertake a psychiatric residency. This paper chronicles changes in the author's own life and conceptual thinking about transsexualism during this time. Some years later the author finally learned the true extent of Dr. Benjamin's feelings about these events. KEYWORDS. This paper describes three impedance bridges in operation at INMETRO: the two- and four-terminal-pair coaxial bridges and a digital quadrature bridge, including several comparisons among them in the nanofarad capacitance range. These comparisons have the objective to verify the performance and reliability of the coaxial bridges between themselves and to infer on the capabilities of a digital one, recently put in operation. The results obtained indicate that the more accurate coaxial systems are compatible with one another in the $10^{-7}$ level. The digital bridge is in agreement with the coaxial ones within a few parts in $10^{6}$ or even less in some cases.

Enhancing NeuroImaging Genetics through Meta-Analysis Consortium (ENIGMA)—Genetics working group., The cerebral cortex underlies our complex cognitive capabilities, yet little is known about the specific genetic loci that influence human cortical structure. To identify genetic variants that affect cortical structure, we conducted a genome-wide association meta-analysis of brain magnetic resonance imaging data from 51,665 individuals. We analyzed the surface area and average thickness of the whole cortex and 34 regions with known functional specializations. We identified 199 significant loci and found significant enrichment for loci influencing total surface area within regulatory elements that are active during prenatal cortical development, supporting the radial unit hypothesis. Loci that affect regional surface area cluster near genes in Wnt signaling pathways, which influence progenitor expansion and areal identity. Variation in cortical structure is genetically correlated with cognitive function, Parkinson's disease, insomnia, depression, neuroticism, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

AIM To investigate tooth survival and clinical long-term outcomes up to 26 years following guided tissue regeneration (GTR) therapy in deep intra-bony defects. METHODS Patients from three prospective clinical split-mouth studies, which investigated the outcomes of GTR therapy, were re-evaluated 21-26 years after surgery independent of the membrane type used, and tooth survival was assessed according to several site-specific and patient-related factors. RESULTS About 50 patients contributing 102 defects were available for this long-term follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Within the limitations of this study, our data show that more than 50% of the initially seriously diseased teeth were still in situ up to 26 years following GTR therapy despite an overall limited adherence to SPT. In the majority of these teeth, the CAL gain 1 year after GTR could be maintained over this long period.

At Quellaveco, there are two major fault sets, the locations of the known mineralised centres in the area appearing to coincide with their intersection points. If, therefore, particular structures have acted as conduits for magma and fluids, potentially during multiple events, it would be expected that these pathways should have preserved a detectable geochronological and geochemical trace. Preliminary LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating, combined with SEM textural classification of the samples, highlighted several phases of alteration with ages spanning the range c.75-60 Ma. With a porphyry system emplacement age of c.56-54 Ma at Quellaveco, this suggests the development of alteration significantly older than the deposit and implies a long history of propylitic alteration in the district. It is hoped that this novel application of propylitic U-Pb geochronology can constrain particular phases of the propylitic alteration temporally and link them to specific structural conduits, thereby developing a district-wide understanding of fluid flow during the build-up to mineralisation at Quellaveco., 5 refs., At Quellaveco, there are two major fault sets, the locations of the known mineralised centres in the area appearing to coincide with their intersection points. The passivity enforcement problem is always a key issue when estimating passive black-box models. Passivity has been broadly scrutinized in the literature and is known to yield stable time-domain simulation; thus, passivity is a much-desired model property which cannot remain an unmodeled effect. Many successful algorithms exist that accomplish the enforcement task by model parameter perturbation, with the caveat that the passivity violations to be suppressed are not large. This paper proposes a novel approach to address this issue. We propose four different mathematical formulations to preprocess the measurement of admittance parameters. Preprocessed data serve as inputs to parameter estimation algorithms to obtain passive models for power system applications. This approach is particularly adequate to use with model parameter perturbation methods. Three examples containing data of actual measurements illustrate the advantage of using the proposed methodology.

Power system transient analysis relies on the deployment of models with ever-increasing accuracy that represents the system's frequency-dependent components with respect to the phenomena being scrutinized. A key issue in this context is the construction of a model yielding passive properties for each system component. Such properties are commonly compromised by corrupting noise in measurements that serve as input to the computation of blackbox models. In addition, model passivity could be further compromised during parameter estimation. This paper undertakes the task of developing a proposal to build an optimization methodology based on linear matrix inequalities (LMI-based) which is intended for obtaining an optimal, passive, blackbox model for a $n$ -terminal power transformer. The resulting model can be further realized as a circuit representation in order to simulate the transformer dynamics in an Eletromagnetic Transient program (EMT type). The results derived from two operating power transformers are later provided to confirm how effective the procedure herein proposed is.

Passivity is a general, qualitative and fundamental property pertaining to the modeling associated with electromagnetic transients in passive power systems, such as transformers. These algorithms make combined use of Graph Theory and Convex Optimization. The first algorithm is concerned with passivity assesment. In particular, it searches for passive subsystems embedded into a larger nonpassive system and eventually specifies a partially specified passive system. Focusing on the subsequent step, algorithm two is a natural consequence of the preceeding one: retaining only the parameter set associated with passive subsystems as determined before, this partially specified passive system is used to further determine the remaining parameters so that the entire system be fully specified and passive. The existence condition for finding a fully specified system hinges on the fulfillment of a topological property of the graph associated the parameter matrices, namely chordality. The third algorithm also solves the passivity enforcement problem by making use of chordality, not as an existence condition, but rather by exploiting chordal sparsity patterns obtained with the parameter matrices. Solving passivity enforcement problems entails two persisting challenges, namely: (i) passivity compensations to parameters prompting increased model degradation as well as (ii) large computation times. The algorithms herein proposed tackle these issues and yield results comparable to those already in use, sometimes resulting in improved performance in terms of either approximation accuracy or runtime. These results herein reported entail data from actual measurements of an Inductive Voltage Transformer and a Power Transformer. Keywords: Passive Macromodeling. System Theory. Applied Linear Algebra. This paper describes ac resistance comparisons among impedance bridges in operation at Inmetro: the four-terminal-pair coaxial bridge and the digital bridge. This work has the objective to better characterize the digital bridge at ac resistance comparisons, especially with standards of different nominal values. The results obtained indicate that the digital bridge is in agreement with the coaxial one within parts in $\pmb{10^{6}}$ .

The paper describes an ac impedance measurement comparator system which uses a current divider (or splitter). The divider makes use of a current comparator whose windings are connected in a way such as to allow the splitting of a single current signal in two components with very accurate ratio to be attained. Each current component flows through impedances to be compared. Preliminary investigations indicate that such an arrangement is able to provide very accurate impedance measurements with errors of parts in $\pmb{10^{6}}$ or even smaller. Resolutions of parts in $\pmb{10^{9}}$ were also experimentally achieved. Since the system uses a single ac current source, inherent current instabilities of the source cause negligible effects on differential voltage measurements, what alleviates requirements on the ac source. Digital sampling can easily be implemented with the system for speeded-up and automated impedance comparisons.

The paper describes a current divider (or splitter), i.e., a device that allows the splitting of an alternating current (ac) in two parts in a precise and accurate current ratio. It is based on current comparator techniques so that precise current ratios can be attained with ratio errors bearing parts in $\pmb{10^{6}}$ to $\pmb{10^{9}}$ . A binary current divider can be made virtually exact (i.e., with unitary current ratio errors of the order of some $\pmb{10^{-9}}$ only), if aided by electronic flux error compensation. Further, coupled transmission lines modeling can assess its current ratio errors over frequency. A current divider finds application in many areas of ac metrology as in highly accurate impedance bridges and current measurements.

The prosperity of our societies and our standards of living are directly related to our ability to find, exploit, and manage our metal and mineral resources. Metal and mineral deposits are, in fact, geochemical anomalies and, as such, applied geochemistry plays a critical role throughout the mineral resources value chain, from early stage exploration to mine closure. The fundamentals of element mobility (i.e. transport and fixation) in the near-surface environment are used by geochemists to detect mineral deposits at depth, reveal element distributions in and around deposits, assess the total geochemical environment, and refine effective and benign extraction and waste disposal techniques. Both pure- and applied-research ventures play fundamental roles in providing the techniques to manage metal resources and thereby benefit society.
