Abstract Nonconventional luminescent materials have been rising stars in organic luminophores due to their intrinsic characteristics, including water‐solubility, biocompatibility, and environmental friendliness and have shown potential applications in diverse fields. As an indispensable branch of nonconventional luminescent materials, polysiloxanes, which consist of electron‐rich auxochromic groups, have exhibited outstanding photophysical properties due to the unique silicon atoms. The flexible Si‐O bonds benefit the aggregation, and the empty 3d orbitals of Si atoms can generate coordination bonds including N → Si and O → Si, altering the electron delocalization of the material and improving the luminescent purity. Herein, we review the recent progress in luminescent polysiloxanes with different topologies and discuss the challenges and perspectives. With an emphasis on the driving force for the aggregation and the mechanism of tuned emissions, the role of Si atoms played in the nonconventional luminophores is highlighted. This review may provide new insights into the design of nonconventional luminescent materials and expand their further applications in sensing, biomedicine, lighting devices, etc.

ABSTRACTType II topoisomerase utilizes the energy from ATP hydrolysis to alter DNA topology during genome replication and transcription. The ATPase domain of this enzyme is required for ATP hydrolysis and plays a crucial role in coupling DNA binding and ATP turnover with the DNA strand passage reaction. The African swine fever virus (ASFV) specifically encodes a topoisomerase II (topo II), which is critical for viral replication and an attractive target for antiviral development. Here, we present a high-resolution crystal structure of the ASFV topo II ATPase domain complexed with the substrate analog AMPPNP. Structural comparison reveals that the ASFV topo II ATPase domain shares a conserved overall structure with its homologs from eukaryotes and prokaryotes but also has three characteristic regions, including the intra-molecular interface formed by the ATP-lid and QTK loop as well as helix α9, the K-loop in the transducer domain, and the antennae-like α-helix at the ATP binding domain. Mutating the key residues within these three regions impairs or abolishes the basal and DNA-stimulated ATPase activities and reduces or eliminates the relaxation activity of the holoenzyme. Our data indicate that all three regions are functionally important for the ATPase and relaxation activities and strongly suggest that ATP hydrolysis, DNA binding, and strand passage are highly coupled and managed by the allosteric coordination of multiple domains of the type II topoisomerase. Moreover, we find a promising druggable pocket in the dimeric interface of the ASFV topo II ATPase domain, which will benefit future anti-ASFV drug development.IMPORTANCEThe ATPase domain of type II topoisomerase provides energy by hydrolyzing ATP and coordinates with the DNA-binding/cleavage domain to drive and control DNA transport. The precise molecular mechanisms of how these domains respond to DNA binding and ATP hydrolysis signals and communicate with each other remain elusive. We determine the first high-resolution crystal structure of the ATPase domain of African swine fever virus (ASFV) topo II in complex with AMPPNP and biochemically investigate its function in ATPase and DNA relaxation activities. Importantly, we find that mutations at three characteristic regions of the ASFV ATPase domain produce parallel effects on the basal/DNA-stimulated ATPase and relaxation activities, implying the tight coupling of the ATP hydrolysis and strand passage process. Therefore, our data provide important implications for understanding the strand passage mechanism of the type II topoisomerase and the structural basis for developing ATPase domain-targeting antivirals against ASFV.

Objective This modelling study aimed to estimate the burden for allergic diseases in children during a period of 30 years.Design Population-based observational study.Main outcomes and measures The data on the incidence, mortality and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) for childhood allergic diseases, such as atopic dermatitis (AD) and asthma, were retrieved from the Global Burden of Disease study 2019 online database. This data set spans various groups, including different regions, ages, genders and Socio-Demographic Indices (SDI), covering the period from 1990 to 2019.Results In 2019, there were approximately 81 million children with asthma and 5.6 million children with AD worldwide. The global incidence of asthma in children was 20 million. Age-standardised incidence rates showed a decrease of 4.17% for asthma, from 1075.14 (95% uncertainty intervals (UI), 724.63 to 1504.93) per 100 000 population in 1990 to 1030.33 (95% UI, 683.66 to 1449.53) in 2019. Similarly, the rates for AD decreased by 5.46%, from 594.05 (95% UI, 547.98 to 642.88) per 100 000 population in 1990 to 561.61 (95% UI, 519.03 to 608.29) in 2019. The incidence of both asthma and AD was highest in children under 5 years of age, gradually decreasing with age. Interestingly, an increase in SDI was associated with a rise in the incidence of both conditions. However, the mortality rate and DALYs for asthma showed a contrasting trend.Conclusions Over the past three decades, there has been a worldwide increase in new asthma and AD cases, even though mortality rates have significantly declined. However, the prevalence of these allergic diseases among children varies considerably across regions, countries and age groups. This variation highlights the need for precise prevalence assessments. These assessments are vital in formulating effective strategies for prevention and treatment.

IntroductionCognitive Impairment (CI) in the elderly, encompassing conditions ranging from Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) to dementia, represents a growing public health concern globally. This study aims to investigate the prevalence and correlates of CI among individuals aged 80 and above.MethodsThe study conducts 13,027 elderly individual’s door-to-door surveys, followed by the cross-tabulation of analysis data, logistic regression analysis, and health condition assessments to examine various determinants of CI.ResultsThe current study’s key findings demonstrate sub-statical correlations between CI and various factors, including educational attainment, marital status, and gender. Pronounced differences are evident between urban and rural demographics. Furthermore, aspects of social engagement, notably communication proficiency and sensory capabilities, exhibit a strong association with CI. Logistic regression analysis highlights that residing in rural areas (Odds Ratio [OR] = 0.637) and being female (OR = 0.71) are linked to a decreased risk of CI. In contrast, behavioral and health-related variables present a complex picture. Specifically, aggressive behavior (Adjusted OR = 1.881) and symptoms of depression (Adjusted OR = 0.549) contrast with conditions such as asthma (OR= 2.857) and cerebral infarction (OR=1.348), which elevate the risk of CI. Intriguingly, hyperlipidemia (OR= 0.671) appears to confer a protective effect against CI.ConclusionThe study highlights the complexity of factors affecting CI in the elderly, advocating for a comprehensive approach to understanding and managing cognitive health.

Abstract The accuracy and reliability of circuit board fault detection are significantly influenced by the uncertainty inherent in the VI curve. Here, an ensemble neural network is proposed, which combines the neural network‐based prediction interval and ensemble approaches, to improve the accuracy of fault detection using the VI curve. First, a loss function with multiple objectives is formulated by integrating curve fitting and prediction interval. The aim is to achieve the curve fitting between current and voltage while simultaneously determining the optimal upper and lower bounds of the prediction interval. Second, an ensemble approach is employed to reduce model uncertainty and derive the ultimate current predictions and intervals. These predictions and intervals are then used in a comparative approach to automatically detect faults in circuit boards. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in improving the accuracy of fault detection is verified on experimental circuit boards.

Abstract Chemodynamic therapy (CDT) shows immense potential in cancer treatment as it not only directly kills tumor cells but also induces anti‐tumor immune responses. However, the efficacy of CDT is hampered by challenges in targeting CDT catalysts specifically to tumors using nanomaterials, along with the limitations of low H2O2 levels and short catalyst duration within the tumor microenvironment. In this study, DNA adjuvant hydrogel to arrange a glucose oxidase‐ferrocene cascade for continuously generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) from glucose in situ for tumor CDT combined with immunotherapy is employed. By precisely tuning the catalyst spacing with DNA double helix, ROS production efficiency is elevated by up to nine times compared to free catalysts, resulting in stronger immunogenetic cell death. Upon intratumoral injection, the DNA hydrogel system elicited potent anti‐tumor immune responses, thereby effectively inhibiting established tumors and rejecting re‐challenged tumors. This work offers a novel platform for integrated CDT and immunotherapy in cancer treatment.

Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) plays a significant role in various tumor types, including prostate cancer. However, its specific role and underlying mechanisms in prostate cancer remain unclear. This study investigates the role of PTHrP and its interaction with the c-Met in prostate cancer. PTHrP was overexpressed and knocked down in prostate cancer cell lines to determine its effect on cell functions. Xenograft tumor models were employed to assess the impact of PTHrP overexpression on tumor growth. To delve into the interaction between PTHrP and c-Met, rescue experiments were conducted. Clinical data and tissue samples from prostate cancer patients were gathered and analyzed for PTHrP and c-Met expression. PTHrP overexpression in prostate cancer cells upregulates c-Met expression and augments cell functions. In contrast, PTHrP-knockdown diminishes c-Met expression and inhibits cell functions. In vivo experiments further demonstrated that PTHrP overexpression promoted tumor growth in xenograft models.Moreover, modulating c-Met expression in rescue experiments led to concurrent alterations in prostate cancer cell functions. Immunohistochemical analysis of clinical samples displayed a significant positive correlation between PTHrP and c-Met expression. Additionally, PTHrP expression correlated with clinical parameters like prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, tumor stage, lymph node involvement, distant metastasis, and Gleason score. PTHrP plays a crucial role in prostate cancer progression by upregulating c-Met expression. These insights point to PTHrP as a promising potential biomarker for prostate cancer.

We report a case of overlooked Subacute Thyroiditis (SAT) potentially induced by the administration of a COVID-19 vaccine. This case prompted a thorough review of the existing literature to elucidate possible mechanisms by which immune responses to the COVID-19 vaccine might precipitate thyroid damage. The primary objective is to enhance the clinical understanding and awareness of SAT among healthcare professionals. Subacute thyroiditis is a prevalent form of self-limiting thyroid disorder characterized by fever, neck pain or tenderness, and palpitations subsequent to viral infection. The development of numerous SARS-CoV-2 vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic was intended to mitigate the spread of the virus. Nevertheless, there have been documented instances of adverse reactions arising from SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, such as the infrequent occurrence of subacute thyroiditis. While the majority of medical practitioners can discern classic subacute thyroiditis, not all cases exhibit typical characteristics, and not all systematic treatments yield positive responses. In this study, we present a rare case of subacute thyroiditis linked to the administration of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. A previously healthy middle-aged female developed fever and sore throat 72 h post-inoculation with the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. Initially attributing these symptoms to a common cold, she self-administered ibuprofen, which normalized her body temperature but failed to alleviate persistent sore throat. Suspecting a laryngopharyngeal disorder, she sought treatment from an otolaryngologist. However, the pain persisted, accompanied by intermittent fever over several days. After an endocrinology consultation, despite the absence of typical neck pain, her examination revealed abnormal thyroid function, normal thyroid antibodies, heterogeneous echogenicity on thyroid ultrasonography, and elevated levels of Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) and C-Reactive Protein (CRP). These findings led to a consideration of the diagnosis of SAT. Initially, she was treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for her fever, which proved effective, but her neck pain remained uncontrolled. This suggested a poor response to NSAIDs. Consequently, steroid therapy was initiated, after which her symptoms of fever and neck pain rapidly resolved.

IntroductionAntimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are promising alternatives to traditional antibiotics for combating plant pathogenic bacteria in agriculture and the environment. However, identifying potent AMPs through laborious experimental assays is resource-intensive and time-consuming. To address these limitations, this study presents a bioinformatics approach utilizing machine learning models for predicting and selecting AMPs active against plant pathogenic bacteria.MethodsN-gram representations of peptide sequences with 3-letter and 9-letter reduced amino acid alphabets were used to capture the sequence patterns and motifs that contribute to the antimicrobial activity of AMPs. A 5-fold cross-validation technique was used to train the machine learning models and to evaluate their predictive accuracy and robustness.ResultsThe models were applied to predict putative AMPs encoded by intergenic regions and small open reading frames (ORFs) of the citrus genome. Approximately 7% of the 10,000-peptide dataset from the intergenic region and 7% of the 685,924-peptide dataset from the whole genome were predicted as probable AMPs. The prediction accuracy of the reported models range from 0.72 to 0.91. A subset of the predicted AMPs was selected for experimental test against Spiroplasma citri, the causative agent of citrus stubborn disease. The experimental results confirm the antimicrobial activity of the selected AMPs against the target bacterium, demonstrating the predictive capability of the machine learning models.DiscussionHydrophobic amino acid residues and positively charged amino acid residues are among the key features in predicting AMPs by the Random Forest Algorithm. Aggregation propensity appears to be correlated with the effectiveness of the AMPs. The described models would contribute to the development of effective AMP-based strategies for plant disease management in agricultural and environmental settings. To facilitate broader accessibility, our model is publicly available on the AGRAMP (Agricultural Ngrams Antimicrobial Peptides) server.

Aiming at the problems that a V-shaped clamp is easy to crack, wrinkle, and springback in the stamping process, a method to improve forming quality by setting the best stamping process parameters is put forward in this paper. The stamping process of the V-shaped clamp was simulated by using the software of ABAQUS, which showed that the stamping process parameters, such as friction coefficient, stamping speed, and mold gap, can affect the forming quality. The optimal combination of stamping process parameters was obtained through an orthogonal experiment. Simulation, profile dimensional measurement, and Fuji paper test were conducted to evaluate and examine the quality of V-shaped clamps before and after optimization. According to the findings of the study, the stamping speed is the main factor affecting the simulation results. The comprehensive effect of the maximum thinning rate, maximum thickening rate, and maximum springback is the best with the stamping speed of 10.00 mm·s −1 . The ideal specifications for the stamping process are a 0.16 friction coefficient, a 10.00mm·s −1 stamping speed, and a 2.20 mm mold gap. Process parameter modification can greatly increase the dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties of molded parts.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a disease that severely affects spinal health and is prevalent worldwide. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) have regenerative potential and have emerged as promising therapeutic tools for treating degenerative discs. However, challenges such as the harsh microenvironment of degenerated intervertebral discs and EVs' limited stability and efficacy have hindered their clinical application. In recent years, hydrogels have attracted much attention in the field of IDD therapy because they can mimic the physiologic microenvironment of the disc and provide a potential solution by providing a suitable growth environment for MSCs and EVs. This review introduced the biological properties of MSCs and their derived EVs, summarized the research on the application of MSCs and EVs in IDD, summarized the current clinical trial studies of MSCs and EVs, and also explored the mechanism of action of MSCs and EVs in intervertebral discs. In addition, plenty of research elaborated on the mechanism of action of different classified hydrogels in tissue engineering, the synergistic effect of MSCs and EVs in promoting intervertebral disc regeneration, and their wide application in treating IDD. Finally, the challenges and problems still faced by hydrogel-loaded MSCs and EVs in the treatment of IDD are summarized, and potential solutions are proposed. This paper outlines the synergistic effects of MSCs and EVs in treating IDD in combination with hydrogels and aims to provide theoretical references for future related studies.

Objective Chronic abdominal aortic occlusive disease (CAAOD) is an uncommon manifestation of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), impacting cardiovascular health and peripheral arterial circulation. We investigated CAAOD in antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL)-positive patients, aimed to offer comprehensive clinical and radiological insights.Methods aPL-positive patients with arterial thrombotic events were categorised into CAAOD and non-CAAOD. Extensive data, including clinical features, radiological images and outcomes, were analysed.Results This case-control study involved 114 patients who experienced arterial events from 2013 to 2021, revealing 12 patients with abdominal aortic stenosis or occlusion. The CAAOD group, predominantly young (36.67±11.83) males (75.00%), exhibited significantly higher rates of critical smoking habits (66.67% vs 25.49%, p=0.006) and hyperhomocysteinaemia (66.67% vs 31.37%, p=0.026). Radiological findings showed long-segment infrarenal aorta stenosis in CAAOD, occasionally involving renal and common iliac arteries. The lesions presented varying degrees of stenosis, including smooth lumen narrow and total vascular occlusion. Treatment modalities typically involved interventions or surgery, complementing anticoagulation therapy.Conclusion The study shed light on the rare occurrence of CAAOD in APS, highlighting the roles of smoking and hyperhomocysteinaemia as notable risk factors. These findings emphasised the significance of early diagnosis and management of CAAOD.

Objective To develop and conduct an initial validation of the Damage Index for IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD DI).Methods A draft of index items for assessing organ damages in patients with IgG4-RD was generated by experts from the Chinese IgG4-RD Consortium (CIC). The preliminary DI was refined using the Delphi method, and a final version was generated by consensus. 40 IgG4-RD cases representing four types of clinical scenarios were then selected, each with two time points of assessment for at least 3 years of follow-up. 48 rheumatologists from 35 hospitals nationwide were invited to evaluate organ damage using the CIC IgG4-RD DI. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and the Kendall-W coefficient of concordance (KW) were used to assess the inter-rater reliability. The criterion validity of IgG4-RD DI was tested by calculating the sensitivity and specificity of raters.Results IgG4-RD DI is a cumulative index consisting of 14 domains of organ systems, including a total of 39 items. The IgG4-RD DI was capable of distinguishing stable and increased damage across the active disease subgroup and stable disease subgroup. In terms of scores at baseline and later observations by all raters, overall consistency in scores at baseline and later observations by all raters was satisfactory. ICC at the two time points was 0.69 and 0.70, and the KW was 0.74 and 0.73, respectively. In subgroup analysis, ICC and KW in all subgroups were over 0.55 and 0.61, respectively. The analysis of criterion validity showed a good performance with a sensitivity of 0.86 (95% CI 0.82 to 0.88), a specificity of 0.79 (95% CI 0.76 to 0.82) and an area under the curve of 0.88 (95% CI 0.85 to 0.91).Conclusion The IgG4-RD DI is a useful approach to analyse disease outcomes, and it has good operability and credibility. It is anticipated that the DI will become a useful tool for therapeutic trials and studies of prognosis in patients with IgG4-RD.

Abstract Background Numerous studies have found that patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) often have comorbid headache, especially migraine. However, the causal relationship between genetically determined SLE and migraine risk remains unclear. Therefore, we conducted a Mendelian randomization (MR) study to explore this causal association. Methods Genome‐wide association studies (GWAS) provided the instrumental variables. We selected summary data from GWAS of SLE as exposure (5201 SLE patients and 9066 controls). Both outcome GWAS data were from the Finnish Gene GWAS, including migraine with aura, migraine with aura and triptan purchases, and migraine without aura. The main MR approach was inverse‐variance weighted. Pleiotropy and heterogeneity were detected using the MR pleiotropy residual sum and outlier, MR‐Egger intercept test, leave‐one‐out analysis, and Cochran's Q test. Results There was a significant association between genetically predicted SLE susceptibility and increased risk of migraine with aura [odds ratio (OR) = 1.05, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.02–1.08, p = .001]. The result was consistent when the outcome was migraine with aura and triptan purchases [OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 1.02–1.08, p = .001]. However, we found no association between SLE and migraine without aura. Our MR study showed no pleiotropy or heterogeneity. Conclusions Our study indicates that genetic susceptibility to SLE increases the incidence of migraine with aura but not migraine without aura. It is necessary for the routine evaluation and early recognition of migraine in patients with SLE in clinical settings.

ObjectiveTo reveal the safety and efficacy of clipping and coiling in patients with ruptured distal anterior cerebral artery aneurysms (DACAA) and to calculate the risk factors affecting the two-year survival rate in follow-up patients.MethodsA retrospective study was conducted on the data of 140 patients (21 were lost to follow-up) with DACAA rupture who were treated by neurosurgery at 12 medical centers over a 2-year period, from January 2017 to December 2020. Univariate analysis was used to examine factors contributing to poor patient prognosis and to compare the prognosis of coiling and clipping treatments. Survival analysis was employed to compare survival rates between coiling and clipping, and risk factors affecting patient survival were analyzed using multivariate Cox regression analysis.ResultsOut of 140 patients with ruptured DACAA, 80 (57.1%) were male, and 60 (42.9%) were female. A total of 111 (79.3%) patients were classified under Hunt-Hess scale grades I-III, while 95 (67.9%) were graded I-III according to the WFNs classification. Among them, 63 (45%) were treated with clipping, and 77 (55%) underwent coiling. Within 2 years of discharge from the hospital, 31 (59.6%) patients who underwent clipping and 54 (80.6%) who underwent coiling had a good prognosis. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that only WFNs classification (I-III) was a protective factor influencing the 2-year survival of patients with ruptured DACAA.ConclusionIn the reality of medical practice, neurosurgeons are more likely to choose clipping as the treatment for cases with WFNs classification than or equal to III. There was no difference between clipping and coiling in the two-year prognosis at discharge. High priority should be given to DACAA cases with WFNs grading (I-III), as better outcomes can be achieved. The sample size will continue to be enlarged in the future to obtain more accurate findings. Abstracts for reviews, technical notes, and historical vignettes do not need to be separated into sections. They should begin with a clear statement of the paper’s purpose followed by appropriate details that support the authors’ conclusion(s).

Functional molecules have been attracting increasing attention in environmental and physiological studies. In particular, folic acid (FA) could be considered a key factor in estimating, adjusting, and making decisions in the treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders. It promotes the general significance and conceptual for considering FA molecular scientific research detections, which implies related advancement in both of biological structure and detection methods. Among these applications, the FA molecule acts as a coenzyme that incorporates carbon atoms and synthesizes purines and pyrimidines. Therefore, the calibration method has real applications and can be used as a sensing platform and for detection approaches, which conveys the internal relationship between the FA molecule and physiological characterization. This mini review briefly discusses multiple FA application fields and detection pathways and could supplement their utilization in anticipation of the onset of disease.

Natural resource usage has produced various environmental challenges. Green process innovation has been considered a viable option that can help both industry and society. This study investigates the impact of green process innovation and green product innovation on corporate financial performance. We based our findings on a sample of 280 listed non-financial firms operating in South Asia. Information was gathered from firms' annual and CSR reports from 2012 to 2022. This study's data was analyzed using a two-step dynamic panel system GMM, correlation analysis, multicollinearity diagnostic tests, and descriptive statistics. Corporate financial performance is measured with ROA, ROE and Tobin's Q. Overall findings of the study show that green innovation has a significant positive impact on all measures of financial performance. Investing in the innovation of green products and green process can assist businesses in avoiding environmental concerns and regulatory penalties, while also assisting them in establishing new market prospects and achieving new levels of success with their green products. In addition, developing products that are friendly to the environment is tightly connected to expanding green competencies, promoting a company's green image, and improving the company's financial performance. Particularly useful for policymakers in developing countries, the study's findings can be used to introduce paradigm-shifting legislation and penalties that speed up business adoption of green process innovation.

Background Lipoprotein(a) is a possible causal risk factor for atherosclerosis and related complications. The distribution and prognostic implication of lipoprotein(a) in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting remain unknown. This study aimed to assess the impact of high lipoprotein(a) on the long‐term prognosis of patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting. Methods and Results Consecutive patients with stable coronary artery disease who underwent isolated coronary artery bypass grafting from January 2013 to December 2018 from a single‐center cohort were included. The primary outcome was all‐cause death. The secondary outcome was a composite of major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events. Of the 18 544 patients, 4072 (22.0%) were identified as the high‐lipoprotein(a) group (≥50 mg/dL). During a median follow‐up of 3.2 years, primary outcomes occurred in 587 patients. IntroductionThis study aimed to analyze how authoritative parenting affects behavioral problems among primary, junior high, and secondary high school students. Today, parental educational anxiety and parent–child relationship conflicts are common in China and are resulting in a high incidence of child behavioral problems. High-quality family education is becoming increasingly important in China. This study sought to provide a reference for developing responsive family education services.MethodsA total of 10,441 parents in Hubei Province, including urban and rural areas, were evaluated using the Parents’ Education Anxiety Questionnaire, Parental Authority Parenting Questionnaire, Parent–Child Relationship Scale, and Self-Made Behavior Problem Scale to determine the internal mechanisms of child behavioral problems in the family system. To make the sample more representative, this study collected data from primary and secondary schools representative of the southeast, northwest, and center of Hubei Province; further, the number of parents involved in each school was controlled at approximately 300 to ensure that the final sample had analytical value.ResultsEducational anxiety directly affected children’s behavioral problems and indirectly affected them through the conflicts between parent and child. This conflict partially mediated educational anxiety and child behavioral problems, and authoritative parenting played a significant regulatory role in this relationship.DiscussionHigher levels of educational anxiety among parents increased the likelihood of a depressed family environment. This can lead to deteriorating parent–child relationships, which can result in children’s problem behaviors. Parents can address these problems by changing their approach to education and adjusting their emotions accordingly.

We propose and experimentally demonstrate an ultra-broadband metamaterial absorber based on photonic topological transition by using metals with large real part of permittivity (ε′). The simulation results show that the absorptivity is larger than 0.9 in the wavelength range from 400 nm to 2832 nm. The simulation results also show that the absorption effect is insensitive to the incident angle and polarization. According to the effective medium theory, the ultra-broad bandwidth is originated from the photonic topological transition. In addition, the analyses reveal that the absorption bandwidths can be extended by manipulating the wavelengths of photonic topological transition (PTT) points with large-ε′ metals. Furthermore, an ultra-broadband metamaterial absorber with multilayer films is fabricated by using standard film deposition techniques. The measured results show that the absorptivity is larger than 0.9 under normal incidence over the measured wavelength range of 400–2500 nm. This metamaterial absorber is expected to be potential candidate for various applications, such as thermal photovoltaic energy conversion, detectors, and solar cells.

Objective: Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling is intricately involved in adipose tissue development. BMP7 together with BMP4 have been implicated in brown adipocyte differentiation but their roles during development remains poorly specified. Matrix Gla protein (MGP) inhibits BMP4 and BMP7 and is expressed in endothelial and progenitor cells. The objective was to determine the role of MGP in brown adipose tissue (BAT) development. Methods: The approach included global and cell-specific Mgp gene deletion in combination with RNA analysis, immunostaining, thermogenic activity, and in vitro studies. Results: The results revealed that MGP directs brown adipogenesis at two essential steps. Endothelial-derived MGP limits triggering of white adipogenic differentiation in the perivascular region, whereas MGP derived from adipose cells supports the transition of CD142-expressing progenitor cells to brown adipogenic maturity. Both steps were important to optimize the thermogenic function of BAT. Furthermore, MGP derived from both sources impacted vascular growth. Reduction of MGP in either endothelial or adipose cells expanded the endothelial cell population, suggesting that MGP is a factor in overall plasticity of adipose tissue. Conclusion: MGP displays a dual and cell-specific function in BAT, essentially creating a “cellular shuttle” that coordinates brown adipogenic differentiation with vascular growth during development.

Abstract Introduction The treatment of genital lichen sclerosus (GLS) remains challenging. Baricitinib has been introduced in the treatment of GLS, but there’s no imaging evaluation for GLS patients treated with it. No comparison of dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) assessments in GLS has been conducted. We performed this study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of baricitinib for GLS and to compare the value of dermoscopy and RCM assessments in GLS. Methods Participants were treated with baricitinib for 6 months and assessed at week 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and every 4 weeks for the next 16 weeks. All patients were evaluated for clinical, dermoscopic, and RCM variables, with numeric scores assigned to each parameter. Results Twenty-six GLS patients were included in this study. Phylogenetic relationships of Scrophulariaceae s. l.（sensu lato）and the closely related groups were explored with 129 plastid genomes representing 107 genera. Plastome sequences were downloaded from the GenBank. Based on coding sequences (CDS), phylogenetic trees were reconstructed using maximum likelihood（ML）and Bayesian inference（BI）approaches. The ML and BI analyses shared the same topology and the main clades were consistently recovered with high support. Of the 129 total nodes, 123 were supported by ML bootstrap value ≥70%. The result were as follows：（1）Scrophulariaceae s. l. was confirmed as polyphyletic. Fifty-one species with representatives of 37 genera from the Scrophulariaceae s.l. were assigned to seven families. These were Orobanchaceae, Paulowniaceae, Wightiaceae, Mazaceae, Linderniaceae, Scrophulariaceae s. s.（sensu stricto）, and Plantaginaceae.（2）Scrophulariaceae s.s. was a monophyletic group. In addition to the recognition of eight genera（including Bontia, Calamphoreus, Diocirea, Eremophila, Glycocystis, Leucophyllum, Scrophularia and Verbascum）comprised primarily of former members of Scrophulariaceae s.l., Buddleja which was originally placed in Loganiaceae, and Myoporum, traditionally placed in the Myoporaceae had been demonstrated to belong to this clade.（3）The Lamiales was monophyletic. Fourteen well-supported monophyletic clades were obtained corresponding to each family (Wightiaceae and Pedaliaceae for which only one species had been contained were not included). The relationships among the families were well resolved. Oleaceae formed a well-supported clade that was distinct from core Lamiales. Within the core Lamiales, four clades (Gesneriaceae, Plantaginaceae, Scrophulariaceae, and Linderniaceae) diverged before the remaining families grouping in two sister clades. Within one clade, two moderately to highly supported subclades were recovered. Lentibulariaceae was resolved as sister group to Acanthaceae, and Pedaliaceae was sister to Verbenaceae + Bignoniaceae. The other clade contained six families, with Lamiaceae, Mazaceae, Wightiaceae + Phrymaceae, and Paulowniaceae successively sister to Orobanchaceae. The results of our analyses indicate that the traditional Scrophulariaceae are an unnatural assemblage of plants distributed throughout the phylogenentic tree of Lamiales. Phylogenomics analyses based on plastid organelle have shown good potential for phylogenetic inference in Scrophulariaceae, more taxonomic sampling are needed to enhance our understanding of phylogenetic relationships of Scrophulariaceae in future studies.

Abstract Understanding lithium-ion battery degradation is critical to unlocking their full potential. Poor understanding leads to reduced energy and power density due to over-engineering, or conversely to increased safety risks and failure rates. Thermal management is necessary for all large battery packs, yet experimental studies have shown that the effect of thermal management on degradation is not understood sufficiently. Here we investigated the effect of thermal gradients on inhomogeneous degradation using a validated three-dimensional electro-thermal-degradation model. We have reproduced the effect of thermal gradients on degradation by running a distributed model over hundreds of cycles within hours and reproduced the positive feedback mechanism responsible for the accelerated rate of degradation. Thermal gradients of just 3 °C within the active region of a cell produced sufficient positive feedback to accelerate battery degradation by 300%. Here we show that the effects of inhomogeneous temperature and currents on degradation cannot and should not be ignored. Most attempts to reproduce realistic cell level degradation based upon a lumped model (i.e. no thermal gradients) have suffered from significant overfitting, leading to incorrect conclusions on the rate of degradation.

Abstract Introduction Microvascular manifestations constitute a subtype of antiphospholipid syndrome, and those patients have relatively poor prognoses, so it is important to find markers for microvascular manifestations. This study was conducted to explore whether serum calprotectin could be a predictor of microvascular manifestations in antiphospholipid antibody (aPL)-positive patients. Methods Consecutive patients with persistent aPL positivity referred to Peking Union Medical College Hospital and age- and sex-matched health controls (HCs) were included. Microvascular manifestations included antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) nephropathy, livedo reticularis, valvular lesions, non-stroke central nervous system manifestations, myocarditis, catastrophic APS, and other microvascular manifestations confirmed by pathology, imaging, or clinical diagnosis. Calprotectin was measured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The cutoff value was defined as mean + 2 standard deviations of HCs. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to analyze risk factors. Pearson correlation analysis was used to detect the correlation between calprotectin and other laboratory data. Results Of the 466 patients included in the study, 281 (60.3%) patients met the 2006 Sydney Revised Classification Criteria; among the latter, 77.2% were patients with primary APS. The mean age was 39.10 ± 13.05 years old, and 77.0% were female. Thirty-eight age- and sex-matched HCs were included in the study. Abstract. Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is a systemic autoimmune disease with high prevalence and possible poor prognosis. Though the pathogenesis of pSS has not been fully elucidated, B cell hyperactivity is considered as one of the fundamental abnormalities in pSS patients. It has long been identified that Janus kinases-signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) signaling pathway contributes to rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Recently, increasing numbers of studies have provided evidence that JAK-STAT pathway also has an important role in the pathogenesis of pSS via direct or indirect activation of B cells. Signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1), STAT3, and STAT5 activated by various cytokines and ribonucleic acid contribute to pSS development, respectively or synergically. These results reveal the potential application of Janus kinase inhibitors for treatment of pSS, which may fundamentally improve the quality of life and prognosis of patients with pSS.

Abstract Background To assess the prevalence of anemia before and after antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation and to identify impact of anemia on mortality among HIV-infected patients in China during the Treat-All era. Methods All HIV-infected patients who newly initiated ART between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2020 were enrolled and followed up to December 31, 2021 in China. We analyzed the prevalence of anemia before and after ART initiation. Generalized estimating equations were fitted to determine factors associated with anemia after ART. Time-dependent cox proportional hazards models were performed to estimate the effect of anemia on death. Results Of 436,658 patients at the baseline of ART initiation, the overall prevalence of anemia was 28.6%. During a median 2.65 (IQR: 1.80–3.51) years of follow-up after ART initiation, 376,325 (86.2%) patients had at least one Hb measurement (a total of 955,300 hemoglobin measurements). The annual prevalence of anemia after ART was 17.0%, 14.1%, 13.4%, 12.6% and 12.7%, respectively. Being anemic at the baseline of ART initiation (adjusted odds ratio, aOR = 6.80, 95% confidence interval (CI): 6.67–6.92) was the strongest factor associated with anemia after ART. Anemia status after ART showed a strong association with death after multivariable adjustment (mild anemia: adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) = 2.65, 95% CI: 2.55–2.76; moderate anemia: aHR = 4.60; 95% CI:4.40–4.81; severe anemia: aHR = 6.41; 95% CI:5.94–6.91). Conclusions In the era of ART universal access, pre-ART anemia was common among HIV-infected patients. Notably, a certain proportion of anemia still persisted after ART, and was significantly associated with death. We recommend strengthening the monitoring of patients at risk of anemia, especially in patients with baseline anemia or during the first year of ART, and timely treatment for correcting anemia.

Abstract TP53 mutation (TP53 mut) occurs in 10–20% of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) cases and serves as an unfavorable biomarker of DLBCL progression. It confers resistance to immunochemotherapy, high-dose chemotherapy, autologous stem cell transplantation, and anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy. Therapeutic targeting of TP53 mut remains a significant challenge in DLBCL treatment. Here we assessed TP53 mut in 667 patients with newly diagnosed DLBCL, including 576 patients treated with immunochemotherapy rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) and 91 patients with decitabine plus R-CHOP (DR-CHOP, NCT02951728 and NCT04025593). TP53 mut independently predicted an inferior prognosis in R-CHOP-treated DLBCL, although this could be mitigated by DR-CHOP treatment. In TP53 mut patients, multiple viral regulation pathways were repressed, resulting in the inhibition of immune modulation, as revealed by gene set enrichment analysis. TP53 mut DLBCL exhibited increased methyltransferase SUV39H1 expression and H3K9 trimethylation (H3K9me3), contributing to repression of endogenous retroviruses (ERVs) and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. In TP53 mut DLBCL cell lines, decitabine down-regulated SUV39H1, inhibited H3K9me3 occupancy on ERVs, and triggered ERV expression, thereby unleashing interferons program and CD4+T/CD8+T cell activation. Molecular silencing of SUV39H1 significantly abrogated decitabine-induced H3K9me3 inhibition and ERV expression. In TP53 mut patient-derived xenograft models and TP53 mut patients, the anti-tumor effect was improved upon the use of combined treatment of decitabine and doxorubicin via SUV39H1-H3K9me3-ERVs axis. Collectively, our findings highlight an ERV regulatory circuitry in TP53 mut DLBCL and the crucial roles ERVs for epigenetically reprogramming tumor microenvironment for treating TP53 mut-driven cancers.

Abstract Background To analyze the expression of TXLNA in brain gliomas and its clinical significance. Methods Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis（GEPIA）and Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas（CGGA）databases were retrieved as the methods. To assess the disparity between TXLNA expression in glioma and normal brain tissue. The Kaplan-Meier survival curve was employed to preliminarily evaluate the survival curves of the high and low expression groups, this was done for investigate the correlation between TXLNA expression level and the survival and prognosis of glioma. A Cox proportional regression risk model of multivariate nature was employed to evaluate the elements impacting the survival and prognosis of glioma. Gene pool enrichment analysis（GSEA）was used to investigate the related function of TXLNA in glioma. A Pearson correlation test and co-expression analysis were employed to identify the genes most associated with TXLNA expression. Result The enrichment analysis results were observably enriched in signal pathways for instance the cell cycle and completion and coordination cascade pathways, and it is evident that high expression of TXLNA in gliomas is related to a poor survival and a bad patient prognosis, thus making it an independent prognostic factor for gliomas. Genes such as STK40 and R1MS1 are significantly correlated with TXLNA, playing a synergistic or antagonistic role. Conclusions The prognosis of GBM patients is strongly linked to the high expression of TXLNA, which may be a viable therapeutic target for curbing cancer progression and creating new immunotherapies for GBM.

Abstract Concrete pumping, integral to building construction, governs pipeline durability and overall construction efficiency. This study advances the traditional methods by employing the CFD-DEM coupling technique, a pioneering approach that integrates the irregular shape of coarse aggregates, capturing the intricacies of concrete pumping in pipelines. Beyond identifying primary wear areas and quantifying wear magnitudes, this research unveils a quadratic progression in average wear over time. The most pronounced wear appears in the pipeline’s bent sections. Notably, pumping speed, more influential than aggregate volume fraction, is pivotal to pipeline wear. Minimized speeds increase blockage risks, notably at elbows, while augmented speeds intensify wear. An optimal speed range between 2 and 3 m/s is deduced. Additionally, as the aggregate volume fraction surges, wear amplifies and blockages frequent. Hence, an aggregate volume fraction between 15 and 20% emerges as the recommendation.

Abstract Objective The traditional volar approach requires the release of the pronator quadratus (PQ) muscle in the treatment of distal radius fractures. However, intraoperative repair of the PQ muscle often fails due to tissue injury and unstable muscle repair. This study compared the outcomes of different methods of sparing the PQ muscle combined with the volar plate in treating distal radius fractures. Methods A total of 95 patients with distal radius fractures sparing the PQ muscle were enrolled with the brachioradialis (BR) splitting approach (group A, 33 people), the volar plating insertion PQ muscle approach (group B, 35 people) and traditional Henry approach without sparing PQ muscle (group C, 27 people). Postoperative internal fixation, fracture healing and postoperative complications were observed in the three groups. The visual analog scale (VAS) of postoperative wrist pain was compared between three groups. The Dienst joint scale was used to evaluate the wrist function of patients, and imaging indexes were used to evaluate the surgical efficacy. Results A total of 95 patients with distal radius fractures were followed up for more than one year after surgery. All fractures obtained good union, with no vascular injury, nerve injury or wound infection. Outcomes at three days, one month and three months all showed no significant differences in postoperative imaging indexes among three groups and no significant differences in various indexes among three groups during the same period. The mean operative time in group C was significantly lower than that in groups A and B. There was significant difference in the mean operation time between group A and group B. The amount of mean operative blood loss or mean bone union time in groups A and B was significantly lower than those in group C. No significant difference was shown in mean operative blood loss or mean bone union time between group A and group B. No significant differences in limb function scores, VAS scores and the mean range of motion existed among three groups at the 12-month postoperative follow-up. However, outcomes assessed one week, one month and three months after surgery demonstrated significant differences in the VAS scores and the mean range of motion among three groups, and the group B had lower VAS score and greater the mean range of motion. According to Dienst score, the excellent rate in groups A, B and C was 91.0% (30/33), 94.2% (33/35) and 85.2% (23/27), respectively, at 12 months after surgery. Tendon irritation occurred in 2 cases and joint stiffness in 1 case in group A. In group B, there were 2 cases traumatic arthritis and 2 cases delayed carpal tunnel syndrome and 1 case tendon irritation. In group C, tendon irritation and delayed carpal tunnel syndrome occurred, respectively, in 3 cases. Conclusion Our results demonstrated that these two different surgical approaches were effective ways to reserve PQ and had good clinical outcomes. The volar plating insertion PQ muscle approach could reduce early postoperative pain, promote early activity and return to normal life, while the BR splitting approach was more advantageous in intraoperative fracture exposure and could shorten the operative time. However, some defects also existed. At 12 months of follow-up, no significant advantage was seen in sparing the PQ muscle. Therefore, surgeons should be aware of their individual characteristics and choose patients carefully.

Abstract Localized interlayer excitons (LIXs) in two-dimensional moiré superlattices exhibit sharp and dense emission peaks, making them promising as highly tunable single-photon sources. However, the fundamental nature of these LIXs is still elusive. Here, we show the donor-acceptor pair (DAP) mechanism as one of the origins of these excitonic peaks. Numerical simulation results of the DAP model agree with the experimental photoluminescence spectra of LIX in the moiré MoSe2/WSe2 heterobilayer. In particular, we find that the emission energy-lifetime correlation and the nonmonotonic power dependence of the lifetime agree well with the DAP IX model. Our results provide insight into the physical mechanism of LIX formation in moiré heterostructures and pave new directions for engineering interlayer exciton properties in moiré superlattices.

Abstract Multi-key membership testing plays a crucial role in computing systems and networking applications, encompassing web search, mail systems, distributed databases, firewalls, and network routing. Traditional approaches, such as the Bloom filter, encounter limitations within this specific context. Addressing these challenges, we propose the Multi-key Learned Bloom Filter (MLBF), a hybrid method that combines machine learning techniques with the Bloom filter. The MLBF introduces a value-interaction-based multi-key classifier and a multi-key Bloom filter. Furthermore, we introduce an Interval-based MLBF approach, which categorizes keys into specific intervals based on data distribution to minimize the False Positive Rate (FPR). Additionally, MLBF incorporates an out-of-distribution (OOD) detection component to identify data shifts. Through extensive experimental evaluations on three authentic datasets, we demonstrate the superiority of the proposed MLBF in terms of FPR and query efficiency.

Herein, the effect of recrystallization on the bainite transformation and mechanical properties of CH steel were investigated using SEM, TEM, EBSD, dilatometry, and tensile testing machine. First, precipitation was introduced to hinder recrystallization by batch annealing. Subsequently, the competitive relationship between austenite transformation and recrystallization was revealed using different annealing processes. Finally, the effect of recrystallization on bainite transformation was analyzed, mainly including bainite morphology, fraction, transformation rate, bainite nucleation rate of untransformed austenite and austenite-bainite orientation relationship, as well as the effect on the mechanical properties. After batch annealing, a large amount of cementite and nanoscale (Nb, Ti)C precipitated in the hot-rolled sheet, the austenite transformation start temperature (Ac1) and the pearlite to austenite transformation end temperature (Ac1f)of the cold-rolled sheet increased, and the austenite transformation end temperature (Ac3) of the cold-rolled sheet decreased, and the austenite transformation process accelerated. The microstructure of annealed sheets is consisted of ferrite, granular bainite, martensite, and a small fraction of retained austenite. Carbide hindered the recrystallization process during the annealing process, resulting in significant refining of the grains. The lower degree of recrystallization promoted bainite transformation, providing more nucleation sites, higher grain boundary and autocatalytic nucleation activation energy, improving bainite's fraction and transformation rate. The bainitic ferrite was mainly lathy in the recrystallized zone and polygonal in the non-recrystallized zone. Both a K-S and an N-W relationship between retained austenite and bainite, while the N-W relationship in the non-recrystallized zone was relatively higher. Without severe loss of plasticity, hindering recrystallization increased the dislocation, grain refinement, and precipitation strengthening values of the samples, and the strength significantly improved. However, with the increase of annealing temperature, recrystallization fraction increased gradually, and the increase in strength became less noticeable.

Abstract The tumor microenvironment (TME) is made up of cells and extracellular matrix (non-cellular component), and cellular components include cancer cells and non-malignant cells such as immune cells and stromal cells. These three types of cells establish complex signals in the body and further influence tumor genesis, development, metastasis and participate in resistance to anti-tumor therapy. It has attracted scholars to study immune cells in TME due to the significant efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) in solid tumors and hematologic tumors. After more than 10 years of efforts, the role of immune cells in TME and the strategy of treating tumors based on immune cells have developed rapidly. Moreover, ICI have been recommended by guidelines as first- or second-line treatment strategies in a variety of tumors. At the same time, stromal cells is another major class of cellular components in TME, which also play a very important role in tumor metabolism, growth, metastasis, immune evasion and treatment resistance. Stromal cells can be recruited from neighboring non-cancerous host stromal cells and can also be formed by transdifferentiation from stromal cells to stromal cells or from tumor cells to stromal cells. Moreover, they participate in tumor genesis, development and drug resistance by secreting various factors and exosomes, participating in tumor angiogenesis and tumor metabolism, regulating the immune response in TME and extracellular matrix. However, with the deepening understanding of stromal cells, people found that stromal cells not only have the effect of promoting tumor but also can inhibit tumor in some cases. In this review, we will introduce the origin of stromal cells in TME as well as the role and specific mechanism of stromal cells in tumorigenesis and tumor development and strategies for treatment of tumors based on stromal cells. We will focus on tumor-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), tumor-associated adipocytes (CAAs), tumor endothelial cells (TECs) and pericytes (PCs) in stromal cells.

Methylobacterium species, the representative bacteria distributed in phyllosphere region of plants, often synthesize carotenoids to resist harmful UV radiations. Methylobacterium extorquens is known to produce a carotenoid pigment and recent research revealed that this carotenoid has a C30 backbone. However, its exact structure remains unknown. In the present study, the carotenoid produced by M. extorquens AM1 was isolated and its structure was determined as 4-[2-O-11Z-octadecenoyl-β-glucopyranosyl]-4,4′-diapolycopenedioc acid (1), a glycosylated C30 carotenoid. Furthermore, the genes related to the C30 carotenoid synthesis were investigated. Squalene, the precursor of the C30 carotenoid, is synthesized by the co-occurrence of META1p1815, META1p1816 and META1p1817. Further overexpression of the genes related to squalene synthesis improved the titer of carotenoid 1. By using gene deletion and gene complementation experiments, the glycosyltransferase META1p3663 and acyltransferase META1p3664 were firstly confirmed to catalyze the tailoring steps from 4,4′-diapolycopene-4,4′-dioic acid to carotenoid 1. In conclusion, the structure and biosynthetic genes of carotenoid 1 produced by M. extorquens AM1 were firstly characterized in this work, which shed lights on engineering M. extorquens AM1 for producing carotenoid 1 in high yield.

To improve the inertia and damping properties of the energy storage units (ESUs) interface converters in DC microgrids, an enhanced virtual DC machine (VDCM) control technique based on traditional P-U droop control is proposed in this paper. The control scheme actively introduces additional inertia and damping to the converter by equivalently analogizing the P-U droop control of the energy storage converter with the speed control of the DC machine. With the proposed control scheme, the operation stability of the DC microgrid can be improved effectively. Due to the problem that the energy storage interface converter under VDCM control cannot achieve power distribution, a coordinated control method of power proportional distribution of parallel energy storage converter is proposed. A small signal model is established to analyze the influence of control parameter changes on system performance. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the simulation, the results show that the proposed strategy can actively introduce greater inertia and damping for the converters to improve the inertia and damping characteristics of the energy storage converter. At the same time, it can play a dynamic adjustment effect when the energy storage interface converters are connected in parallel, which can make each converter distribute power according to the set proportion in the three working modes of charging, discharging and charging and discharging switching.

Aiming at the problems of large detection blind areas and difficult threshold settings in traditional passive islanding detection methods, this paper proposes an intelligent passive islanding detection method based on the adaptive boosting (Adaboost) algorithm. This method first uses feature screening technology to obtain the key feature electrical quantities of DC microgrid islands and form a sample set, and then rely on the Adaboost algorithm to generate a high-precision island classification model to realize the detection and classification of DC microgrid operation status. It has the advantages of automatic setting threshold, small detection blind area, and high accuracy. In addition, aiming at the problem that the classification results of the intelligent islanding detection algorithm based on machine learning cannot be directly used as the islanding discrimination results, an islanding criterion method based on the sliding window algorithm is added on the basis of the classification algorithm. This method realizes the accurate detection of the DC microgrid islanding operation state by the secondary analysis and judgment of the classification results of the islanding classification model. Finally, a DC microgrid model is built to simulate and verify the proposed method. The results show that the method can quickly and accurately complete the islanding detection of the DC microgrid.

An infant with Kasabach-Merritt Phenomenon (KMP) presented with a giant subcutaneous mass in the right lower limb, severe hypofibrinogenemia, and thrombocytopenia. Glucocorticoids, along with supportive treatments including transfusion of blood products and clotting factors, were administered to reverse fatal disseminated intravascular coagulation and acute hemolysis. The glucocorticoid dose was tapered slowly, and sirolimus was added to treat the hemangiomas. The patient subsequently underwent interventional therapy. After 6 months of medical and interventional therapy, the patient was doing well with a normal platelet count, the tumor volume was markedly reduced, and the primary cutaneous lesion became pale pink. Currently, the patient remains on sirolimus, and no recurrence of thrombocytopenia or further growth of the mass was observed after six months of follow-up.

Abstract Background After the standardization, recording and follow‐up of imatinib use that significantly prolongs survival of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), a comprehensive reassessment of the prognosis of GISTs is necessary and more conductive to treatment options. Methods A total of 2185 GISTs between 2013 and 2016 were obtained from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database and comprised our training (n = 1456) and internal validation cohorts (n = 729). The risk factors extracted from univariate and multivariate analyses were used to establish a predictive nomogram. The model was evaluated and tested in the validation cohort internally and in 159 patients with GIST diagnosed between January 2015 and June 2017 in Xijing Hospital externally. Results The median OS was 49 months (range, 0–83 months) in the training cohort and 51 months (0–83 months) in the validation cohort. The concordance index (C‐index) of the nomogram was 0.777 (95% CI, 0.752–0.802) and 0.7787 (0.7785, bootstrap corrected) in training and internal validation cohorts, respectively, and 0.7613 (0.7579, bootstrap corrected) in the external validation cohort. Receiver operating characteristic curves and calibration curves for 1‐, 3‐, and 5‐year overall survival (OS) showed a high degree of discrimination and calibration. The area under the curve showed that the new model performed better than the TNM staging system. In addition, the model could be dynamically visualized on a webpage. Conclusion We developed a comprehensive survival prediction model for assessing the 1‐, 3‐ and 5‐year OS of patients with GIST in the postimatinib era. This predictive model outperforms the traditional TNM staging system and sheds light on the improvement of the prognostic prediction and the selection of treatment strategies for GISTs.

Abstract Background Iguratimod (IGU) reduces hypergammaglobulinemia and disease activity in pSS (primary Sjögren’s syndrome) patients. However, the therapeutical mechanism of IGU for pSS remains largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate the regulation of Tfh cell differentiation by IGU in pSS patients. Methods We prospectively enrolled 13 pSS patients treated with IGU for 3 months and examined circulating T cell and B cell subsets by flow cytometry. We measured Tfh cell differentiation treated by IGU in pSS patients and healthy controls. Transcriptome analysis combined with molecular docking were employed to identify potential therapeutical targets of IGU, which were verified by Western blot and Tfh cell differentiation. Results Tfh, plasmablast, and plasma cells were suppressed by IGU treatment at 1 and 3 months. Tfh cell differentiation and function were significant inhibited by IGU in pSS patients and healthy controls in vitro. Pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 1 (PDK1) was identified as a target of IGU during Tfh cell differentiation, and the downstream Akt phosphorylation was attenuated by IGU. Moreover, the activity of mTORC1 and phosphorylation of STAT3 were suppressed by IGU, with downregulation of BCL6 and upregulation of PRDM1. Finally, Akt activator restored IGU-suppressed Tfh cell differentiation. Conclusions IGU suppresses Tfh cell differentiation in pSS patients through interacting with PDK1 and suppressing Akt-mTOR-STAT3 signaling.

In order to study the optimal conditions for ultrasonic assisted extraction of polyphenols from Cistanche tubulosa by deep eutectic solvents (DES), the optimal DES (proline:glycerol=2:5) was first selected. Further, response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the extraction processes based on the single factor experiments. The extraction kinetics and antioxidant activity were further studied. The results showed that the optimal conditions were as follows: Ultrasonic temperature of 40 ℃, liquid to solid ratio of 45 mL/g, water content of 40%, extraction time of 28 min. The extraction rate at this condition was 37.76 mg/g DW. Ultrasonic assisted extraction of polyphenols from Cistanche tubulosa conformed to the second-order reaction kinetics. The IC50 values of polyphenol extracts on DPPH and ABTS+ free radical scavenging rates were 0.875 and 0.501 mg/mL, respectively. The results would provide a theoretical basis for green extraction and application of polyphenols from Cistanche tubulosa in Xinjiang.

Abstract Electrochemical conversion of CO2 to formic acid using Bismuth catalysts is one the most promising pathways for industrialization. However, it is still difficult to achieve high formic acid production at wide voltage intervals and industrial current densities because the Bi catalysts are often poisoned by oxygenated species. Herein, we report a Bi3S2 nanowire-ascorbic acid hybrid catalyst that simultaneously improves formic acid selectivity, activity, and stability at high applied voltages. Specifically, a more than 95% faraday efficiency was achieved for the formate formation over a wide potential range above 1.0 V and at ampere-level current densities. The observed excellent catalytic performance was attributable to a unique reconstruction mechanism to form more defective sites while the ascorbic acid layer further stabilized the defective sites by trapping the poisoning hydroxyl groups. When used in an all-solid-state reactor system, the newly developed catalyst achieved efficient production of pure formic acid over 120 hours at 50 mA cm–2 (200 mA cell current).

Abstract Intrinsically stretchable semiconducting polymers are promising candidates for developing wearable electronics, but remain underdeveloped because the correlation between the microstructural evolution during stretching and the resultant charge transport is not clearly understood. In this study, we clarify the impact of molecular orientation on the dynamic performance of stretched semiconducting polymers, controlling molecular orientations via solvent-dependent spin-coating. We found that strain-enhanced electrical performance is feasible by quelling disorders within the face-on-packed aggregates. Strain facilitates 3D ordering in face-on-packed films, but increase the π-π orientation disorders and lamellar dislocation in the edge-on analogue, which contribute inversely to the charge transport. Consequently, the face-on samples maintain strain-resistant energetic disorder and a 1.5× increase in on-current, achieving a 10-times-higher retention than the edge-on analogue upon 100% strain. Furthermore, we developed a reliable way for measuring the photoelectrical stretchability of semiconducting polymer. This study contributes to developing high-performance stretchable semiconducting polymers.

Among major nondestructive testing technologies (NDT), such as X-ray and ultra-sound, Terahertz (THz) waves present significant transmission rate through most of nonconductive materials without the need of applying couplant while posing zero ionized radiation hazard. In comparison to microwave NDT, terahertz technology boasts a superior spatial resolution and measurement precision due to its shorter wavelength. As such, it is considered to be the most promising technology for industrial NDT applications. To analyze of THz wave transmission characteristics within porcelain insulator and obtain large quantity of testing data with repeatable measurement condition, this paper reports an experimental approach using Kaolin, in powdery form, to emulate the aging behavior of porcelain, and a THz sensor to detect such imperceptible aging process where micrometer-scale cracks slowly develop inside of porcelain insulators. To support the data acquisition from distance, a LORA communication module was integrated in the sensor for using under high-voltage environment. In addition, a dedicated user-interface software has been developed to receive the wireless data as well as conducting data analysis, crack recognition and graphic display. The experiment successfully demonstrated a very feasible solution for online monitoring of the aging process of porcelain insulators by using compact THz sensor buried in the insulator.

Due to the increase in nanoplastics (NPs) abundance in aquatic environments, their effects on phytoplankton have aroused large research attention. In this study, 100 nm sized polystyrene NPs were chosen to investigate their effecting performance and mechanisms on a typical dinoflagellates Alexandrium tamarense. The results indicated the population growth and photosynthetic efficiencies of A. tamarense were significantly inhibited by NPs exposure, as well as the increase in cellular total carotenoids and paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs). Meanwhile, the cellar ROS levels increased, corresponding to the increased activities or contents of multiple antioxidant components, including SOD, CAT, GPX, GR, GSH and GSSG. The transcriptional results support the physiological–biochemical results and further revealed the down-regulation of genes encoding the light reaction centers (PSI and PSII) and up-regulation of genes encoding the antioxidant components. Up-regulation of genes encoding key enzymes of the Calvin cycle and glycolytic pathway together with the TCA cycle could accelerate organic carbon and ATP production for A. tamarense cells resistant to NPs stress. Finally, more Glu and acetyl-CoA produced by the enhanced GSH cycle and the glycolytic pathway, respectively, accompanied by the up-regulation of Glu and Arg biosynthesis genes supported the increase in the PST contents under NPs exposure. This study established a data set involving physiological–biochemical changes and gene information about marine dinoflagellates responding to NPs, providing a data basis for further evaluating the ecological risk of NPs in marine environments.

With the intensification of the energy crisis, it is urgent to vigorously develop new environment-friendly energy storage materials. In this work, coexisting ferroelectric and relaxor-ferroelectric phases at a nanoscale were constructed in Sr(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 (SZN)-modified (Bi0.5Na0.5)0.94Ba0.06TiO3 (BNBT) ceramics, simultaneously contributing to large polarization and breakdown electric field and giving rise to a superior energy storage performance. Herein, a high recoverable energy density (Wrec) of 5.0 J/cm3 with a conversion efficiency of 82% at 370 kV/cm, a practical discharged energy density (Wd) of 1.74 J/cm3 at 230 kV/cm, a large power density (PD) of 157.84 MW/cm3, and an ultrafast discharge speed (t0.9) of 40 ns were achieved in the 0.85BNBT-0.15SZN ceramics characterized by the coexistence of a rhombohedral-tetragonal phase (ferroelectric state) and a pseudo-cubic phase (relaxor-ferroelectric state). Furthermore, the 0.85BNBT-0.15SZN ceramics also exhibited excellent temperature stability (25–120 °C) and cycling stability (104 cycles) of their energy storage properties. These results demonstrate the great application potential of 0.85BNBT-0.15SZN ceramics in capacitive pulse energy storage devices.
