Background: Pudendal neuralgia is a chronic and debilitating condition. Its prevalence ranges from 5 to 26%. Currently, therapeutic approaches to treat pudendal neuralgia include patient education, medication management, psychological and physical therapy, and procedural interventions, such as nerve block, trigger point injections, and surgery. Drug therapy has a limited effect on pain relief. A pudendal nerve block may cause a significant decrease in pain scores for a short time; however, its efficacy significantly decreases over time. In contrast, pudendal nerve pulsed radiofrequency can provide pain relief for 3 months, and ganglion impar block has been widely used for treating chronic perineal pain and chronic coccygodynia. This study aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of monotherapy (pudendal nerve pulsed radiofrequency) and combination therapy (pudendal nerve pulsed radiofrequency plus ganglion impar block) in patients with pudendal neuralgia. Methods: This randomized, controlled clinical trial will include 84 patients with pudendal neuralgia who failed to respond to drug or physical therapy. Patients will be randomly assigned into one of the two groups: mono or combined treatment groups. The primary outcome will be a change in pain intensity measured using the visual analog scale. The secondary outcomes will include a Self-Rating Anxiety Scale score, Self-Rating Depression Scale score, the use of oral analgesics, the Medical Outcomes Study Health Survey Short Form-36 Item score, and the occurrence of adverse effects. The study results will be analyzed using intention-to-treat and per-protocol analyses. Primary and secondary outcomes will be evaluated between the mono and combined treatment groups. Subgroup analyses will be conducted based on the initial ailment, age, and baseline pain intensity. The safety of the treatment will be assessed by monitoring adverse events, which will be compared between the two groups. Discussion: This study protocol describes a randomized, controlled clinical trial to determine the efficacy and safety of mono and combination therapies in patients with pudendal neuralgia. The study results will provide valuable information on the potential benefits of this combination therapy and contribute to the development of more effective and safer treatments for patients with pudendal neuralgia. Ion‐selective nanochannel membranes assembled from two‐dimensional (2D) nanosheets hold immense promise for power conversion using salinity gradient. However, they face challenges stemming from insufficient surface charge density, which impairs both permselectivity and durability. Herein, we present a novel vacancy‐engineered, oxygen‐deficient NiCo layered double hydroxide (NiCoLDH)/cellulose nanofibers‐wrapped carbon nanotubes (VOLDH/CNF‐CNT) composite membrane. This membrane, featuring abundant angstrom‐scale, cation‐selective nanochannels, is designed and fabricated through a synergistic combination of vacancy engineering and interfacial super‐assembly. The composite membrane shows interlayer free‐spacing of ~3.62 Å, which validates the membrane size exclusion selectivity. This strategy, validated by DFT calculations and experimental data, improves hydrophilicity and surface charge density, leading to the strong interaction with K+ ions to benefit the low ion transport resistance and exceptional charge selectivity. When employed in an artificial river water|seawater salinity gradient power generator, it delivers a high‐power density of 5.35 W/m2 with long‐term durability (20,000s), which is almost 400 % higher than that of the pristine NiCoLDH membrane. Furthermore, it displays both pH‐ and temperature‐sensitive ion transport behavior, offering additional opportunities for optimization. In this lecture note, we give a basic introduction to the rapidly developing concepts of generalized symmetries, from the perspectives of both high energy physics and condensed matter physics. In particular, we emphasize on the (invertible) higher-form and higher group symmetries. For the physical applications, we discuss the geometric engineering of QFTs in string theory and the symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases in condensed matter physics. To evaluate the development of neutralizing Anti-Spike Protein IgG (Anti-S-IgG) during twin pregnancies before conception vs. during pregnancy. In this prospective study, three blood samples were collected from pregnant women and subjected to anti-S-IgG immunodiagnostics. The patient's medical records, including vaccination and PCR test results, were collected from the hospital's electronic database. Age-matched non-pregnant women were used as a control group. We enrolled 83 women with twin pregnancies. 49 women were vaccinated before conception, 21 women were vaccinated during pregnancy, and 13 were not vaccinated. Of the 13 women who weren't vaccinated, three became positive during pregnancy, and all three were severely ill. By contrast, in women who were vaccinated during or before pregnancy, COVID-19 infection during pregnancy caused only mild symptoms. A ten-fold lower level of neutralizing Anti-S-IgG in the 3rd trimester was observed in healthy women who were vaccinated before conception and remained healthy until discharge from the hospital after delivery 1605 (IQR: 763–2410) compared to the healthy women who were vaccinated during pregnancy 152 AU/mL (IQR: 54–360). This difference was higher among women who were infected by COVID-19 (as verified by a positive PCR test). The third-trimester level of neutralizing Ant-S-IgG in the infected group was 4770 AU/mL (4760–6100) in infected women vaccinated before conception compared to those vaccinated during pregnancy who had 70 AU/mL (IQR: 20–170) (p < 0.001). In women vaccinated at 13–16 weeks gestation, neutralizing Anti-S-IgG at 20–22 weeks went up to 372 AU/mL (IQR: 120–1598) but rapidly dropped to 112 AU/mL (IQR: 54–357) at 28–30 weeks, (p < 0.001), a faster decline than in women vaccinated at a median 22 weeks before conception. Being infected by COVID-19 before conception was linked to having low Anti-S-IgG levels during pregnancy, whereas being infected by COVID-19 during pregnancy led to a very high response in the 3rd trimester. In twin pregnancies, significantly lower neutralizing Anti-S-IgG levels were observed in women vaccinated during pregnancy compared to those vaccinated before conception, whether infected or not infected by COVID-19. N‐Heterocyclic amines have been known as an important class of nitrogen‐containing molecules with a wide range of applications. Described here is a mild and efficient electrochemical desulfurizative amination of readily accessible heteroaromatic thiols without necessity of metal catalyst. The key to success for this reaction is the in‐situ generation of a hypervalent iodine reagent as an organocatalyst from iodoarene by anodic oxidation. This mild desulfurizative amination presents ample substrate scope and good functional group tolerance without the use of extra stoichiometric chemical oxidants. As only electrons serve as the oxidation reagents, this method offers a straightforward and sustainable manner towards versatile N‐heterocyclic amines, including late‐stage functionalization of pharmaceutically relevant molecules. With increasingly used assisted reproductive technology (ART), the acquisition of high-quality oocytes and early embryos has become the focus of much attention. Studies in mice have found that the transition of chromatin conformation from non-surrounded nucleolus (NSN) to surrounded nucleolus (SN) is essential for oocyte maturation and early embryo development, and similar chromatin transition also exists in human oocytes. In this study, we collected human NSN and SN oocytes and investigated their transcriptome. The analysis of differentially expressed genes showed that epigenetic functions, cyclin-dependent kinases and transposable elements may play important roles in chromatin transition during human oocyte maturation. Our findings provide new insights into the molecular mechanism of NSN-to-SN transition of human oocyte and obtained new clues for improvement of oocyte in vitro maturation technique. Background Methods Results Conclusion Insufficient occlusal support (IOS) frequently causes subchondral bone absorption in temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis, and the underlying mechanism requires further investigation.An IOS model was established by abrading rat molars. Micro‐computed tomography was used to evaluate subchondral bone changes. Osteoclastogenesis of synovium‐derived macrophages (SDMs) was confirmed by TRAP staining. Cartilage‐specific TNFα depletion was achieved by intra‐articular injection of adeno‐associated virus carrying shRNA against murine TNFα under control of collagen type II. In vitro, chondrocytes were mechanically compressed and conditioned medium (CM) was collected to detect its ability to induce osteoclastogenesis of SDMs.Synovial osteoclastogenesis and condyle resorption were observed following IOS. TNFα level was elevated in hypertrophic chondrocytes after IOS. Synovial Wnt5a level increased, but Wnt3a level decreased after IOS. Depletion of TNFα in chondrocytes alleviated the synovial osteoclastogenesis and condyle bone resorption. In vitro compression of chondrocytes potentiated TNFα expression and secretion. The CM promoted osteoclastogenesis of SDMs, which were partially prohibited by TNFα neutralizing antibody. Furthermore, inhibition of Wnt3a facilitated osteoclastogenesis, whereas inhibition of Wnt5a partially suppressed osteoclastogenesis, of SDMs cultured in CM.Chondrocyte‐secreted TNFα induced by IOS is a critical regulator of synovial osteoclastogenesis and subsequent condylar resorption, partially through non‐canonical Wnt5a pathway. Background: The production of succinic acid (SA) from biomass has attracted worldwide interest. Saccharomyces cerevisiae is preferred for SA production due to its strong tolerance to low pH conditions, ease of genetic manipulation, and extensive application in industrial processes. However, when compared with bacterial producers, the SA titers and productivities achieved by engineered S. cerevisiae strains were relatively low. To develop efficient SA-producing strains, it's necessary to clearly understand how S. cerevisiae cells respond to SA. Results: In this study, we cultivated five S. cerevisiae strains with different genetic backgrounds under different concentrations of SA. Among them, KF7 and NBRC1958 demonstrated high tolerance to SA, whereas NBRC2018 displayed the least tolerance. Therefore, these three strains were chosen to study how S. cerevisiae responds to SA. Under a concentration of 20 g/L SA, only a few differentially expressed genes were observed in three strains. At the higher concentration of 60 g/L SA, the response mechanisms of the three strains diverged notably. For KF7, genes involved in the glyoxylate cycle were significantly downregulated, whereas genes involved in gluconeogenesis, the pentose phosphate pathway, protein folding, and meiosis were significantly upregulated. For NBRC1958, genes related to the biosynthesis of vitamin B6, thiamin, and purine were significantly downregulated, whereas genes related to protein folding, toxin efflux, and cell wall remodeling were significantly upregulated. For NBRC2018, there was a significant upregulation of genes connected to the pentose phosphate pathway, gluconeogenesis, fatty acid utilization, and protein folding, except for the small heat shock protein gene HSP26. Overexpression of HSP26 and HSP42 notably enhanced the cell growth of NBRC1958 both in the presence and absence of SA. Conclusions: The inherent activities of small heat shock proteins, the levels of acetyl-CoA and the strains' potential capacity to consume SA all seem to affect the responses and tolerances of S. cerevisiae strains to SA. These factors should be taken into consideration when choosing host strains for SA production. Background: The immature and suppressed immune response makes transplanted children a special susceptible group to Parvovirus B19 (PVB19). However, the clinical features of transplanted children with PVB19 infection haven't been comprehensively described. Methods: We searched the medical records of all the transplant recipients who attended the Children's Hospital of Fudan University from 1 Oct 2020 to 31 May 2023, and reviewed the medical literature for PVB19 infection cases among transplanted children. Results: A total of 10 cases of PVB19 infection were identified in 201 transplanted children at our hospital, and the medical records of each of these cases were shown. Also, we retrieved 40 cases of PVB19 infection among transplanted children from the literature, thus summarizing a total of 50 unique cases of PVB19 infection. The median time to the first positive PVB19 DNA detection was 14 weeks post-transplantation. PVB19 IgM and IgG were detected in merely 26% and 24% of the children, respectively. The incidence of graft loss/dysfunction was as high as 36%. Hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients showed higher PVB19 load, lower HGB level, greater platelet damage, lower PVB19 IgM/IgG positive rates, and more graft dysfunction than solid-organ transplant (SOT) recipients, indicating a more incompetent immune system. Conclusions: Compared with the published data of transplanted adults, transplanted children displayed distinct clinical features upon PVB19 infection, including lower PVB19 IgM/IgG positive rates, more graft dysfunction, and broader damage on hematopoietic cell lines, which was even more prominent in HSCT recipients, thus should be of greater concern. Oxygen (O2) binds to hemoglobin (Hb) in the lungs and is then released (dissociated) in the tissues. The Bohr effect is a physiological mechanism that governs the affinity of Hb for O2 based on pH, where a lower pH results in a lower Hb-O2 affinity and higher Hb-O2 dissociation. Hb-O2 affinity and dissociation are crucial for maintaining aerobic metabolism in cells and tissues. Despite its vital role in human physiology, Hb-O2 dissociation measurement is underutilized in basic research and in clinical laboratories, primarily due to the technical complexity and limited throughput of existing methods. We present a rapid Hb-O2 dissociation measurement approach by leveraging the Bohr effect and detecting the optical shift in the Soret band that corresponds to the light absorption by the heme group in Hb. This new method reduces Hb-O2 dissociation measurement time from hours to minutes. We show that Hb deoxygenation can be accelerated chemically at the optimal pH of 6.9. We show that time and pH-controlled deoxygenation of Hb results in rapid and distinct conformational changes in its tertiary structure. These molecular conformational changes are manifested as significant, detectable shifts in Hb's optical absorption spectrum, particularly in the characteristic Soret band (414 nm). We extensively validated the method by testing human blood samples containing normal Hb and Hb variants. We show that rapid Hb-O2 dissociation can be used to screen for and detect Hb-O2 affinity disorders and to evaluate the function and efficacy of Hb-modifying therapies. The ubiquity of optical absorption spectrophotometers positions this approach as an accessible, rapid, and accurate Hb-O2 dissociation measurement method for basic research and clinical use. We anticipate this method's broad adoption will democratize the diagnosis and prognosis of Hb disorders, such as sickle cell disease. Further, this method has the potential to transform the research and development of new targeted and genome-editing-based therapies that aim to modify or improve Hb-O2 affinity. Background: Gonadotropin precisely controls mammalian reproductive activities. Systematic analysis of the mechanisms by which epigenetic modifications regulate the synthesis and secretion of gonadotropin can be useful for more precise regulation of the animal reproductive process. Previous studies have identified many differential m6A modifications in the GnRH-treated adenohypophysis. However, the molecular mechanism by which m6A modification regulates gonadotropin synthesis and secretion remains unclear. Results: Herein, it was found that GnRH can promote gonadotropin synthesis and secretion by promoting the expression of FTO. Highly expressed FTO binds to Foxp2 mRNA in the nucleus, exerting a demethylation function and reducing m6A modification. After Foxp2 mRNA exits the nucleus, the lack of m6A modification prevents YTHDF3 from binding to it, resulting in increased stability and upregulation of Foxp2 mRNA expression, which activates the cAMP/PKA signaling pathway to promote gonadotropin synthesis and secretion. Conclusions: Overall, the study reveals the molecular mechanism of GnRH regulating the gonadotropin synthesis and secretion through FTO-mediated m6A modification. The results of this study allow systematic interpretation of the regulatory mechanism of gonadotropin synthesis and secretion in the pituitary at the epigenetic level and provide a theoretical basis for the application of reproductive hormones in the regulation of animal artificial reproduction. Background: Chemotherapy-induced painful peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common adverse event in cancer patients, and there is still a lack of effective treatment. Transauricular vagal nerve stimulation (taVNS) is a minimally invasive treatment, but there are few reports regarding its efficacy for CIPN. Objective: To investigate the efficacy and possible mechanism of taVNS in patients with CIPN. Methods: Twenty-seven patients with CIPN were randomly divided into a taVNS group (n = 14) and a sham stimulation (SS) group (n = 13). A numerical rating scale (NRS) for pain, NCICTCAE 4.0 (neurotoxicity classification), quantitative sensory test (QST), Short-Form-Health Survey-12 (SF-12), and Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) were administered before the intervention (D-10) and on the day after the intervention (D0), and the inflammatory cytokines in plasma were also measured. The NRS, NCI-CTCAE 4.0, SF-12, and AIS were administered again at D30 and D90. Results: Compared with the SS group, the NRS and AIS in the taVNS group were significantly lower at D0. The impact lasted until D30. There were no statistically significant differences in the NRS and AIS between the 2 groups at D90. On D30, the mental component score of the SF-12 was significantly higher in the taVNS group than in the SS group. No adverse events were found. There was no significant difference in QST and plasma inflammatory cytokines between the 2 groups. Conclusion: taVNS can relieve chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain in the short term, can improve sleep status and quality of life, and is expected to become a novel clinical treatment method for CIPN. In high-speed electrical machines (HSEM), mechanical vibration associated with critical speeds of rotor systems can be detrimental to the machine operational stability, especially for vibration near resonances. The structural sizing of a rotor system is often constrained to its mechanical parameters, such as its overall weight, maximum torque, and rated power, which complicate the design, necessitating an iterative design optimization process. This work presents a systematic and iterative rotor structural sizing optimization methodology that incorporates semi-analytical and numerical modeling, specifically taking into account multiple mechanical design parameters from the static, rotordynamic, and electromagnetic-thermal evaluation. The proposed methodology provides an effective design optimization procedure for a general application of HSEM to accelerate its design process, by which the power density and the dynamics stability during high-speed operation are optimized simultaneously. A parametric analysis was carried out where a 24-kW, 12,000-rpm aviation starter-generator was optimized. It was demonstrated that the power density of the machine could be increased by 14.7% from 2.3 to 2.6 kW/kg, while the critical speed was increased by 128.6% from 1,400 to 3,200 Hz. Aiming at benefit distribution of guaranteed water saving management contract (WSMC) projects, principal-agent theory is used to propose benefit distribution scheme. Firstly, principal-agent models are established in two cases: (1) the water user and WSCO are risk-neutral; (2) the water user is risk-neutral, while WSCO is risk-averse. Then the models are solved by the backward induction method under symmetric information and asymmetric information. The models' results are analyzed and the results show that (1) WSCO's benefit distribution proportion is negatively correlated with effort cost coefficient, risk aversion degree and project uncertainty; (2) the water user's expected utility is positively correlated with project investment scale and WSCO's water saving capacity; (3) WSCO's risk aversion will reduce the water user's expected utility; (4) incentives are only required when WSCO's effort is unobservable. Selective protein degradation platforms have opened novel avenues in therapeutic development and biological inquiry. Antibody‐based lysosome‐targeting chimeras (LYTACs) have emerged as a promising technology that extends the scope of targeted protein degradation to extracellular targets. Aptamers offer an advantageous alternative owing to their potential for modification and manipulation toward a multivalent state. In this study, a chemically engineered platform of multivalent aptamer‐based LYTACs (AptLYTACs) is established for the targeted degradation of either single or dual protein targets. Leveraging the biotin‐streptavidin system as a molecular scaffold, this investigation reveals that trivalently mono‐targeted AptLYTACs demonstrate optimum efficiency in degrading membrane proteins. The development of this multivalent AptLYTACs platform provides a principle of concept for mono‐/dual‐targets degradation, expanding the possibilities of targeted protein degradation. Treating female canine mammary gland tumors is crucial owing to their propensity for rapid progression and metastasis, significantly impacting the overall health and well-being of dogs. Mitoquinone (MitoQ), an antioxidant, has shown promise in inhibiting the migration, invasion, and clonogenicity of human breast cancer cells. Thus, we investigated MitoQ's potential anticancer properties against canine mammary gland tumor cells, CMT-U27 and CF41.Mg. MitoQ markedly suppressed the proliferation and migration of both CMT-U27 and CF41.Mg cells and induced apoptotic cell death in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, treatment with MitoQ led to increased levels of pro-apoptotic proteins, including cleaved-caspase3, BAX, and phospho-p53. Cell cycle analysis revealed that MitoQ hindered cell progression in the G1 and S phases in CMT-U27 and CF41.Mg cells. These findings were supported using western blot analysis, demonstrating elevated levels of cleaved caspase-3, a hallmark of apoptosis, and decreased expression of cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) 2 and cyclin D4, pivotal regulators of the cell cycle. In conclusion, MitoQ exhibits in vitro antitumor effects by inducing apoptosis and arresting the cell cycle in canine mammary gland tumors, suggesting its potential as a preventive or therapeutic agent against canine mammary cancer. Additionally, bioinspired materials facilitate the development of smartphone-assisted biosensing platforms, offering user-friendly and portable diagnostic tools for point-of-care applications. This review comprehensively explores the utilization of naturally occurring and engineered biominerals and materials for diverse biosensing applications. We highlight the fabrication and design strategies that tailor their functionalities to address specific biosensing needs. The mesocotyl is of great significance in seedling emergence and in responding to biotic and abiotic stress in maize. The NAM, ATAF, and CUC2 (NAC) transcription factor family plays an important role in maize growth and development; however, its function in the elongation of the maize mesocotyl is still unclear. In this study, we found that the mesocotyl length in zmnac17 loss-of-function mutants was lower than that in the B73 wild type. By using transcriptomic sequencing technology, we identified 444 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between zmnac17-1 and B73, which were mainly enriched in the "tryptophan metabolism" and "antioxidant activity" pathways. Compared with the control, the zmnac17-1 mutants exhibited a decrease in the content of indole acetic acid (IAA) and an increase in the content of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) is a complex biological process of cellular transdifferentiation by which endothelial cells (ECs) lose their characteristics and acquire mesenchymal properties, leading to cardiovascular remodeling and complications in the adult cardiovascular diseases environment. Melatonin is involved in numerous physiological and pathological processes, including aging, and has anti‐inflammatory and antioxidant activities. This molecule is an effective therapeutic candidate for preventing oxidative stress, regulating endothelial function, and maintaining the EndMT balance to provide cardiovascular protection. Although recent studies have documented improved cardiac function by melatonin, the mechanism of action of melatonin on EndMT remains unclear. The present study investigated the effects of melatonin on induced EndMT by transforming growth factor‐β2/interleukin‐1β in both in vivo and in vitro models. The results revealed that melatonin reduced the migratory ability and reactive oxygen species levels of the cells and ameliorated mitochondrial dysfunction in vitro. Our findings indicate that melatonin prevents endothelial dysfunction and inhibits EndMT by activating related pathways, including nuclear factor kappa B and Smad. We also demonstrated that this molecule plays a crucial role in restoring cardiac function by regulating the EndMT process in the ischemic myocardial condition, both in vessel organoids and myocardial infarction (MI) animal models. Purpose: This study evaluated the elastic characteristics of the pulmonary trunk and distal branches in fetuses diagnosed with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) using Doppler echocardiography. Methods: Data on 42 fetuses diagnosed with TOF and 84 gestational age-matched normal fetuses were prospectively collected from the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University between August 2022 and January 2023. The severity of TOF was classified into three categories based on the z-score of the pulmonary annulus diameter: mild (z-score =-2), moderate (-40.05). Conclusion: Fetuses diagnosed with TOF exhibited increased vascular stiffness in the MPA and reduced stiffness in the distal pulmonary artery (PA). Cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) is a key factor in the formation and evolution of clouds and thereby the climate. An investigation on particle number size distributions (PNSDs) and CCN properties above the mixing layer (ML) was carried out, using a specifically designed sampler attached to a tethered balloon system. Aerosol microphysical and CCN properties above the ML differed distinctly from that near the ground. During the campaign, the average total particle number concentration (Np) near the ground (6200 ± 1700 cm−3) was found roughly twice that above the ML (2800 ± 1200 cm−3). The hygroscopicity parameter (κ), derived from size-resolved CCN measurements, ranged from 0.22 to 0.37 above the ML with an average of 0.29 ± 0.04. While near the ground, where particle properties were more directly and readily affected by various emission sources, aging and deposition than those above the ML, a larger variability in κ (from 0.17 to 0.47) was observed, with an average of 0.25 ± 0.08. The analysis regarding one haze process and one fog process revealed that κ above the ML stayed relatively stable, in spite of the simultaneous large variability in the surface κ. This observational study implies that the accurate and detailed chemical composition of aerosol particles, though quite important to investigate aerosol hygroscopicity within the ML, might not be highly demanded for characterizing the variability of aerosol hygroscopicity above the ML. Psychological repurcussions of COVID-19 pandemic has received wide attention, but there's limited attention paid to psychological recovery afterwards. This study focuses on the changes and predictive factors of mental health of Chinese university students post-pandemic. This study included 1175 Chinese undergraduate students sampled in May 2022 and May–June 2023, right before and after peaks of infections following the end of lockdown policy in China. The participants completed a survey of demographic variables, and three questionnaires: 12-item General Health Questionnaire, Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire, and Prosocial Tendencies Measure. The participants sampled in 2023 have significant lower GHQ scores and higher PPQ scores than those sampled in 2022, while there is no significant difference in PTM scores between them. The proportion of participants with GHQ-12 scores exceeding 12 in 2023 showed slightly decrease compared to that in 2022. The infection of significant others, the sense of hope, and PPQ self-efficiency, hope and optimism subscale scores were significantly associated with GHQ-12 scores in 2023, but actual infection or quarantine experience were not. The mental health and psychological capital of the university students have been significantly improved within a year. It is worthy to pay attention to the infection of significant others, the sense of hope, and psychological capital in a pandemic to improve the mental health of university students. Background: In prostate radiotherapy, the intrafractional target motion negatively affects treatment accuracy. Generating internal target volume (ITV) using four‐dimensional (4D) images may resolve the issue of intrafractional target motion induced by bladder filling and bowel movement. However, no 4D imaging techniques suitable for the prostate are currently available in clinical practice. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the ITV based on cine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequence for intrafractional target motion management in prostate MRI‐guided radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: A reference ITV was generated in simulation process. Then, the reference ITV was adapted with cine MRI sequence before online planning in each fraction. Finally, the reference ITV was updated with the cine MRI sequence acquired during beam delivery after each fraction. Cine MRI sequences and positioning three‐dimensional (3D) MRI from 35 patients were retrospectively collected. Clinical target volume (CTV) coverage was computed according to the two‐dimensional contour of CTV and ITV on cine MRI images. Relative target size was calculated as the ratio of the volume of ITV and CTV. Isotropic planning target volume (PTV; 5 mm margin) and anisotropic PTV (3 mm margin in the posterior direction and 5 mm margin in other directions) were generated for comparison. Results: The CTV coverage rate of the proposed ITV had a mean value of 98.61% ± 0.51%, whereas the CTV coverage rates of the isotropic and anisotropic PTVs were 97.43% ± 0.41% and 96.58% ± 0.73%, respectively. The proposed ITV had a relative target size of 1.79 ± 0.17, whereas the anisotropic and isotropic PTVs had relative target sizes of 1.92 ± 0.12 and 2.21 ± 0.19, respectively. For both the CTV coverage rate and target relative size, significant differences were observed between the proposed ITV and the other two PTVs (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The ITV achieved higher CTV coverage with smaller size than conventional isotropic and anisotropic PTVs, indicating that it can effectively deal with the intrafractional movement of the prostate. Background: Fetal brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐based gestational age prediction has been widely used to characterize normal fetal brain development and diagnose congenital brain malformations. Purpose: The uncertainty of fetal position and external interference leads to variable localization and direction of the fetal brain. In addition, pregnant women typically concentrate on receiving MRI scans during the fetal anomaly scanning week, leading to an imbalanced distribution of fetal brain MRI data. The above‐mentioned problems pose great challenges for deep learning‐based fetal brain MRI gestational age prediction. Methods: In this study, a pyramid squeeze attention (PSA)‐guided dynamic feature fusion CNN (PDFF‐CNN) is proposed to robustly predict gestational ages from fetal brain MRI images on an imbalanced dataset. PDFF‐CNN contains four components: transformation module, feature extraction module, dynamic feature fusion module, and balanced mean square error (MSE) loss. The transformation and feature extraction modules are employed by using the PSA to learn multiscale and multi‐orientation feature representations in a parallel weight‐sharing Siamese network. The dynamic feature fusion module automatically learns the weights of feature vectors generated in the feature extraction module to dynamically fuse multiscale and multi‐orientation brain sulci and gyri features. Considering the fact of the imbalanced dataset, the balanced MSE loss is used to mitigate the negative impact of imbalanced data distribution on gestational age prediction performance. Results: Evaluated on an imbalanced fetal brain MRI dataset of 1327 routine clinical T2‐weighted MRI images from 157 subjects, PDFF‐CNN achieved promising gestational age prediction performance with an overall mean absolute error of 0.848 weeks and an R2$R^2$ of 0.904. Furthermore, the attention activation maps of PDFF‐CNN were derived, which revealed regional features that contributed to gestational age prediction at each gestational stage. Conclusions: These results suggest that the proposed PDFF‐CNN might have broad clinical applicability in guiding treatment interventions and delivery planning, which has the potential to be helpful with prenatal diagnosis. Sepsis is a common and critical condition encountered in clinical practice that can lead to multi-organ dysfunction. Sepsis-induced coagulopathy (SIC) significantly affects patient outcomes. However, the precise mechanisms remain unclear, making the identification of effective prognostic and therapeutic targets imperative. The analysis of transcriptome data from the whole blood of sepsis patients, facilitated the identification of key genes implicated in coagulation. Then we developed a prognostic model and a nomogram to predict patient survival. Consensus clustering classified sepsis patients into three subgroups for comparative analysis of immune function and immune cell infiltration. Single-cell sequencing elucidated alterations in intercellular communication between platelets and immune cells in sepsis, as well as the role of the coagulation-related gene FYN. Real-time quantitative PCR determined the mRNA levels of critical coagulation genes in septic rats' blood. Finally, administration of a FYN agonist to septic rats was observed for its effects on coagulation functions and survival. This study identified four pivotal genes—CFD, FYN, ITGAM, and VSIG4—as significant predictors of survival in patients with sepsis. Among them, CFD, FYN, and ITGAM were underexpressed, while VSIG4 was upregulated in patients with sepsis. Moreover, a nomogram that incorporates the coagulation-related genes (CoRGs) risk score with clinical features of patients accurately predicted survival probabilities. Subgroup analysis of CoRGs expression delineated three molecular sepsis subtypes, each with distinct prognoses and immune profiles. Single-cell sequencing shed light on heightened communication between platelets and monocytes, T cells, and plasmacytoid dendritic cells, alongside reduced interactions with neutrophils in sepsis. The collagen signaling pathway was found to be essential in this dynamic. FYN may affect platelet function by modulating factors such as ELF1, PTCRA, and RASGRP2. The administration of the FYN agonist can effectively improve coagulation dysfunction and survival in septic rats. The study of the antecedents of child maltreatment has advanced through ecological research, but there has been a limited focus on the role of community social capital. This study investigates the effects of community social capital on child maltreatment and how these associations differ by regional type, using data on child maltreatment rates in 226 localities in South Korea from 2014 to 2019. Surprisingly, our results show that social trust, networks, and engagement in community affairs are positively associated with child maltreatment rates. Additionally, the mechanisms of social capital effects on child maltreatment vary by place, being more pronounced in small‐ and medium‐sized cities and rural areas. Our findings suggest that a more nuanced understanding of social capital mechanisms across dimensions and locations is required to effectively address child maltreatment. This study contributes to both theory and practice by highlighting the importance of community social capital in preventing child maltreatment and demonstrating the contextual nature of these associations. The Space High-cadence Observing Telescope (SHOT) is proposed to conduct a wide-field survey in one of the frequency bands between 1 and 3 THz with an aperture of 0.8 m. It will provide complete terahertz and far-infrared photometry with low-resolution spectroscopy throughout the sky, promoting the study of fast radio bursts, the formation and evolution of stars, and other scientific goals. The telescope will adopt a superconducting kinetic inductance detector to achieve a wide survey of terahertz imaging. This work designs the optical system of SHOT to obtain a large FOV of up to 1.5 deg and match the detector with the size of 60 mm × 60 mm and pixel pitch of 0.8 mm. The primary optical system adopts a Ritchey–Chrétien design. By adding a corrector lens to the optical system and optimization, the aberrations mainly caused by the optical elements in the detector system are reduced. The influence of each component assigned to different terahertz materials is analyzed. The results show that TPX is more suitable than the other two materials. Rheology of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) containing selected silica fume dosages (0% (control mix), 5%, 10% and 15%) in a binary binder has been investigated using the flow-curve test protocol implemented on a co-axial cylinder rheometer. At each silica fume dosage, coarse recycled concrete aggregate volumetric replacement levels were 0%, 50% and 100%. Calibration of selected flow models with the measured flow data showed that rheology transitioned from shear thickening to shear thinning as the silica fume dosage increased from 0% to 15%, other mix constituents remaining unchanged. Similar flow behaviour was noted in the SCCs made with the recycled concrete aggregates (SCRACs) across all replacement levels though for a given silica fume dosage, degree of shear thinning decreased with increasing contents of the coarse recycled aggregates. Accumulating evidence suggests that non-genetic factors have important etiologic roles in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), yet identification of specific culprit factors has been challenging. Many medications target biological pathways implicated in ALS pathogenesis, and screening large pharmacologic datasets for signals could greatly accelerate the identification of risk-modulating pharmacologic factors for ALS. We conducted a high-dimensional screening of patients' history of medication use and ALS risk using an advanced machine learning approach based on gradient-boosted decision trees coupled with Bayesian model optimization and repeated data sampling. Clinical and medication dispensing data were obtained from a large Israeli health fund for 501 ALS cases and 4,998 matched controls using a lag period of 3 or 5 years prior to ALS diagnosis for ascertaining medication exposure. Of over 1,000 different medication classes, we identified 8 classes that were consistently associated with increased ALS risk across independently trained models, where most are indicated for control of symptoms implicated in ALS. Some suggestive protective effects were also observed, notably for vitamin E. Our results indicate that use of certain medications well before the typically recognized prodromal period was associated with ALS risk. This could result because these medications increase ALS risk or could indicate that ALS symptoms can manifest well before suggested prodromal periods. The results also provide further evidence that vitamin E may be a protective factor for ALS. Isolated splenic vein thrombosis (ISVT) is a very rare venous thromboembolism in the absence of pancreatic diseases, which can cause acute abdominal pain and chronic left-side portal hypertension. Herein, we reported a 40-year-old female patient who developed ISVT after taking oral contraceptives. Anticoagulation with oral rivaroxaban was the first-line choice of therapy in this case. Since then, abdominal pain alleviated, but she did not achieve vessel recanalization. Thus, a 7-day systemic thrombolysis with urokinase was given. Abdominal pain disappeared, but ISVT was not significantly improved. During follow-up period, long-term anticoagulation with oral rivaroxaban was given. Collectively, this case indicates the possibility of oral contraceptives as a risk factor of ISVT as well as anticoagulation combined with systemic thrombolysis as a choice of treatment for ISVT. Enhancing Electrocatalytic Water Splitting Efficiency through Tannic Acid-Modified Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Decorated with CoNi Alloys. [Display omitted] • Treatment with TA can reduce CoNi alloy size and increase the number of nanoparticles, exposing more active sites. • Co 0.84 Ni 1.69 /MWCNTs maintained their morphology throughout long-term cyclic stability tests. • The Co: Ni molar mass ratio of 0.84: 1.69 showed the best cooperative interaction. The dimensions of alloy nanoparticles or nanosheets have emerged as a critical determinant for their prowess as outstanding electrocatalysts in water decomposition. Remarkably, the reduction in nanoparticle size results in an expanded active specific surface area, elevating reaction kinetics and showcasing groundbreaking potential. In a significant leap towards innovation, we introduced tannic acid (TA) to modify multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and CoNi alloys. This ingenious strategy not only finely tuned the size of CoNi alloys but also securely anchored them to the MWCNTs substrate. The resulting synergistic "carbon transportation network" accelerated electron transfer during the reaction, markedly enhancing efficiency. Furthermore, the exceptional synergy of Co and Ni elements establishes Co 0.84 Ni 1.69 /MWCNTs as highly efficient electrocatalysts. Experimental findings unequivocally demonstrate that TA-Co 0.84 Ni 1.69 /MWCNTs require minimal overpotentials of 171 and 294 mV to achieve a current density of ± 10 mA cm−2. Serving as both anode and cathode for overall water splitting, TA-Co 0.84 Ni 1.69 /MWCNTs demand a low voltage of 1.66 V at 10 mA cm−2, maintaining structural integrity throughout extensive cyclic stability testing. Content: In this thesis, the role of N atom doping and biaxial strain in modulating the electronic structure and optical properties of antimonene has been deeply investigated using a first-principles approach based on density-functional theory. The results show that N doping significantly reduces the band gap of antimonene and introduces new electronic states, thus affecting its electronic structure. In terms of optical properties, N doping reduces the static permittivity of antimonene and alters its absorption, reflection, and energy loss properties. In addition, biaxial strain further enhanced the modulation effect of these properties. This study not only provides theoretical support for the application of antimonene in the field of high-performance two-dimensional electronic and optoelectronic devices, but also reveals strain and doping as an effective means to modulate the physical properties of two-dimensional materials. Methods: For the calculations, we used the DFT-based CASTEP software package for the simulation of the electronic structure. In order to more accurately characterize the weak interactions between two-dimensional materials, we specifically introduced the Van der Waals dispersion correction. We have chosen the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) exchange-correlation generalization under the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and combined it with the Van der Waals correction term in order to fully consider the electronic structure of antimonene. For the calculation parameter settings, we set the truncation energy to 400 eV to ensure the accuracy of the calculation. Meanwhile, we adopt a 6 × 6 × 1 k-point grid for Brillouin zone sampling to obtain more accurate energy band structure and density of states information. For the convergence settings, the convergence criteria for both the system energy and the interaction force between atoms were set to 1 × 10−5 eV and 0.01 eV/Å, respectively. We selected a 3 × 3 × 1 supercell model with 18 Sb atoms. A vacuum thickness of 18 Å was established in the Z direction, which is sufficient to avoid interactions between the two atomic layers above and below the periodic structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to investigate the aperiodic properties and aperiodic-adjusted alpha-band oscillations in children with ADHD, focusing on the influence of different scalp regions and lateralization on these neural correlates. Sixty-two ADHD children and 52 typical developing children aged 6–12 years were enrolled. EEG recordings were made with eyes closed for a minimum of 6 min. The 'FOOOF' was used to compute aperiodic parameters (exponent and offset), and aperiodic-adjusted alpha-band features including center frequency (CF), adjusted power (AP), and bandwidth (BW). Mixed-design ANOVAs were conducted with two between-subjects levels (ADHD and control groups) and two within-subjects' factors (lateralization and scalp region). ANCOVAs were conducted after accounting for sex and age. The ADHD group showed a significantly lower exponent compared to the control group, and this difference was not influenced significantly by factors like lateralization, scalp region, or sex. There were no notable distinctions between the groups for other measures. We noticed alpha-band CF tends to increase with age, while only frontal AP shows a significant positive correlation with age. Significant main effects of sex and lateralization were observed for offset, along with an interaction effect between sex and lateralization for CF. Our findings indicate that children aged 6–12 with ADHD have a markedly lower exponent, suggesting that this measure could potentially serve as a biomarker for ADHD. Purpose: We have developed a novel technique for osteotomy/discectomy during en bloc resection of spine tumors named two-step osteotomy/discectomy through cannulated screw (TOCS). This study aims at describing the procedure of TOCS technique and assessing its efficiency and safety. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed fourteen patients who underwent en bloc resection for spine tumors using TOCS technique in our center between August 2018 and September 2022. The technique was based on a specially designed "slotted" cannulated screw which was a cannulated screw with a longitudinal slot to provide the accessibility of T-saw. During osteotomy/discectomy, the "slotted" cannulated screw was inserted obliquely along the plane between the dura and the posterior wall of spine in light of the planned osteotomy/discectomy plane under routine fluoroscopic imaging guidance. The T-saw was introduced through the screw, and the osteotomy/discectomy was performed sequentially in two steps under the guidance of the screw by turning the slot away and toward the dura. The intra-/perioperative complication, neurological function (determined by Frankel grading), surgical margin (determined by a pathologist using AJCC R system), follow-up details were documented. Results: The mean duration of surgery was 599.3 (360–890) min with a mean volume of intra-operative hemorrhage of 2021.4 (800–5000) mL. The intra-/perioperative complications were found in four patients (28.6%). R0 and R1 resections were achieved in nine and five patients, respectively. There was no R2 resection. After a mean follow-up period of 30.6 (10–67) months, all patients were alive except one patient died ten months after surgery due to unrelated cause. No recurrence and implant failure were found. Thirteen patients (92.9%) exhibited completely normal neurological function same as their preoperative neurological status. Conclusion: Using TOCS technique can facilitate a precise, complete and safe osteotomy/discectomy procedure during en bloc resection for spine tumor without the aid of intra-operative navigation. Postinduction hypotension (PIH) is closely associated with postoperative adverse outcomes. Preoperative hypovolemia is a key risk factor, and many parameters are available from ultrasound to detect hypovolemia, but the accuracy of PIH from ultrasound remains unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the commonly used measurements from ultrasound to predict PIH. We searched the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, CNKI, and Web of Science databases from their inception to December 2023. Thirty-six studies were included for quantitative analysis. The pooled sensitivities for the inferior vena cava collapsibility index (IVC-CI), maximum inferior vena cava diameter (DIVCmax), minimum inferior vena cava diameter (DIVCmin), and carotid artery corrected flow time (FTc) were 0.73 (95% CI = 0.65, 0.79), 0.66 (95% CI = 0.54, 0.77), 0.74 (95% CI = 0.60, 0.85), and 0.81 (95% CI = 0.72, 0.88). The pooled specificities for the IVC-CI, DIVCmax, DIVCmin, and carotid artery FTc were 0.82 (95% CI = 0.75, 0.87), 0.75 (95% CI = 0.66, 0.82), 0.76 (95% CI = 0.65, 0.84), and 0.87 (95% CI = 0.77, 0.93). The AUC for the IVC-CI, DIVCmax, DIVCmin, and carotid artery FTc were 0.84 (95% CI = 0.81, 0.87), 0.77 (95% CI = 0.73, 0.81), 0.82 (95% CI = 0.78, 0.85), and 0.91 (95% CI = 0.88, 0.93). Our study demonstrated that ultrasound indices are reliable predictors for PIH. The purpose of this systematic review was to synthesise the evidence for the association of adherence to the 24-h movement guidelines with academic-related outcomes in children and adolescents. This systematic review was based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) statement. PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, WOS, SPORTDiscus, and EMBASE were searched from their inception to 12 December 2023. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Checklist was used to assess the risk of bias of included studies. In total, 4326 records were identified through database searches; 10 articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in this systematic review. There were eight cross-sectional studies and two longitudinal studies; the main academic-related outcomes were academic achievement and cognitive function. A small association between adherence to all three recommendations and academic achievement (k = 5, r = 0.17, 95% CI = 0.10–0.24, I2 = 49%) was found compared to those who did not adhere to any recommendations. Conclusion: Findings from this systematic review and meta-analysis reveal a small association between adherence to all three recommendations and greater academic achievement in children and adolescents. Nevertheless, it is imperative to underscore the need for more studies to establish robust evidence underpinning this relationship. Trial registration: PROSPERO (CRD42021295403). Our experiments explored the effects of far-red (FR) light on cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. 'Zhongnong No. 26') seedling growth. Our results indicated that FR light significantly promoted the growth of cucumber seedlings. Specifically, it promoted the accumulation of shoot biomass and the elongation of internodes and leaves (except the first leaf at the bottom). Further analysis showed that FR light had no effect on the accumulation contents of abscisic acid (ABA) and auxin (IAA) in seedling leaves. Still, it significantly caused the increase of the gibberellin (GA3, GA4, and GA7) contents and the decrease of GA1 content, which suggested that the leaf expansion progress under FR light may be primarily related to GA. Therefore, the cucumber seedling leaf expansion response to GA was evaluated under different light sources. The exogenous spraying of different GA4/7 contents significantly promoted the leaf expansion of cucumber seedlings under white light, while the GA biosynthesis inhibitor paclobutrazol (PAC) significantly promoted the expression of GA hydrolytic genes (GA2ox2 and GA2ox4) and decreased the content of endogenous active GA, which inhibited the leaf expansion induced by FR light. As expected, the combination of exogenous GA4/7 and PAC restored the growth promotion effect of FR light on cucumber seedling leaves. It increased the contents of endogenous active GA (GA1, GA3, GA4, and GA7), and the expression trend in GA synthetic/hydrolytic-related genes was the opposite of that of PAC was applied alone. The structural and dynamical properties of active filamentous objects under macromolecular crowding have a great relevance in biology. By means of Brownian dynamics simulations, we perform a comparative study for the conformational change and diffusion dynamics of an active chain in pure solvents and in crowded media. Our result shows a robust compaction-to-swelling conformational change with the augment of the Péclet number. The presence of crowding facilitates self-trapping of monomers and, thus, reinforces the activity mediated compaction. In addition, the efficient collisions between the self-propelled monomers and crowders induce a coil-to-globulelike transition, indicated by a marked change of the Flory scaling exponent of the gyration radius. Moreover, the diffusion dynamics of the active chain in crowded solutions demonstrates activity-enhanced subdiffusion. The center of mass diffusion manifests rather new scaling relations with respect to both the chain length and Péclet number. The interplay of chain activity and medium crowding provides a new mechanism to understand the non-trivial properties of active filaments in complex environments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Generative pretrained transformer-4 (GPT-4) has gained widespread attention from society, and its potential has been extensively evaluated in many areas. However, investigation of GPT-4's use in medicine, especially in the ophthalmology field, is still limited. This study aims to evaluate GPT-4's capability to identify rare ophthalmic diseases in three simulated scenarios for different end-users, including patients, family physicians, and junior ophthalmologists. Methods: We selected ten treatable rare ophthalmic disease cases from the publicly available EyeRounds service. We gradually increased the amount of information fed into GPT-4 to simulate the scenarios of patient, family physician, and junior ophthalmologist using GPT-4. GPT-4's responses were evaluated from two aspects: suitability (appropriate or inappropriate) and accuracy (right or wrong) by senior ophthalmologists (> 10 years' experiences). Results: Among the 30 responses, 83.3% were considered "appropriate" by senior ophthalmologists. In the scenarios of simulated patient, family physician, and junior ophthalmologist, seven (70%), ten (100%), and eight (80%) responses were graded as "appropriate" by senior ophthalmologists. However, compared to the ground truth, GPT-4 could only output several possible diseases generally without "right" responses in the simulated patient scenarios. In contrast, in the simulated family physician scenario, 50% of GPT-4's responses were "right," and in the simulated junior ophthalmologist scenario, the model achieved a higher "right" rate of 90%. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first proof-of-concept study that evaluates GPT-4's capacity to identify rare eye diseases in simulated scenarios involving patients, family physicians, and junior ophthalmologists. The results indicate that GPT-4 has the potential to serve as a consultation assisting tool for patients and family physicians to receive referral suggestions and an assisting tool for junior ophthalmologists to diagnose rare eye diseases. Nowadays, the increasing emergence of antibiotic-resistant pathogenic microorganisms requires the search for alternative methods that do not cause drug resistance. Phototherapy strategies (PTs) based on the photoresponsive materials have become a new trend in the inactivation of pathogenic microorganisms due to their spatiotemporal controllability and negligible side effects. Among those phototherapy strategies, photocatalytic antimicrobial therapy (PCAT) has emerged as an effective and promising antimicrobial strategy in recent years. In the process of photocatalytic treatment, photocatalytic materials are excited by different wavelengths of lights to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) or other toxic species for the killing of various pathogenic microbes, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and algae. Therefore, this review timely summarizes the latest progress in the PCAT field, with emphasis on the development of various photocatalytic antimicrobials (PCAMs), the underlying antimicrobial mechanisms, the design strategies, and the multiple practical antimicrobial applications in local infections therapy, personal protective equipment, water purification, antimicrobial coatings, wound dressings, food safety, antibacterial textiles, and air purification. Meanwhile, we also present the challenges and perspectives of widespread practical implementation of PCAT as antimicrobial therapeutics. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non‐invasive optical imaging modality, which provides rapid, high‐resolution and cross‐sectional morphology of macular area and optic nerve head for diagnosis and managing of different eye diseases. However, interpreting OCT images requires experts in both OCT images and eye diseases since many factors such as artefacts and concomitant diseases can affect the accuracy of quantitative measurements made by post‐processing algorithms. Currently, there is a growing interest in applying deep learning (DL) methods to analyse OCT images automatically. This review summarises the trends in DL‐based OCT image analysis in ophthalmology, discusses the current gaps, and provides potential research directions. DL in OCT analysis shows promising performance in several tasks: (1) layers and features segmentation and quantification; (2) disease classification; (3) disease progression and prognosis; and (4) referral triage level prediction. Different studies and trends in the development of DL‐based OCT image analysis are described and the following challenges are identified and described: (1) public OCT data are scarce and scattered; (2) models show performance discrepancies in real‐world settings; (3) models lack of transparency; (4) there is a lack of societal acceptance and regulatory standards; and (5) OCT is still not widely available in underprivileged areas. This paper aims to study the existence of traveling wave solutions (TWS) for a three-component noncooperative systems with nonlocal diffusion. Our main results reveal that when a threshold ℜ > 1 , there exists a critical wave speed c ∗ > 0. By using sub- and super-solution methods and Schauder's fixed point theorem, we prove that the system admits a nontrivial TWS for each c ≥ c ∗ . Meanwhile, we show that there exists no nontrivial TWS for c < c ∗ by detailed analysis. Finally, we apply our results to a nonlocal diffusive epidemic model with vaccination, and the boundary asymptotic behavior of TWS for the special case is obtained by constructing a suitable Lyapunov functional. Our research provides some insights on how to deal with the problem of TWS for the nonlocal diffusive epidemic models with bilinear incidence, which extends some results in the previous studies. Dielectric materials with high energy storage density are essential for developing adaptable energy storage devices to address the growing demand for electrical energy. This paper design introduces low-loaded BNNS nanosheets as second-phase fillers and BT@SiO 2 nanoparticles to form a dual-filler system to achieve functional complementarity. An easy spin-coating technique was used to successfully prepare BNNS/BT@SiO 2 /P(VDF-HFP) nanocomposites. The high polarization of the core-shell structure BT@SiO 2 and the wide bandgap of the "barrier surface" structure BNNS were utilized to ensure the increase of ε r and the maintenance of E b to synergistically contribute to increase energy density without sacrificing the mechanical properties of polymer matrix. Due to the homogeneous and dense microstructure and the important contribution of the complementary effect of the dual-filler system, BNNS/BT@SiO 2 /P(VDF-HFP) nanocomposites show good synergistic effects in maintaining high ε r , low tanδ, and high E b. At 3400 kV/cm, the energy density of 11.06 J/cm3 was attained by the nanocomposite with 3 wt% BNNS content. This is about 922 % of the best commercial BOPP film (1.2 J/cm3). BNNS/BT@SiO 2 /P(VDF-HFP) nanocomposite also maintained an attractive energy density (11.16 J/cm3 and 9.02 J/cm3) at 75 °C and 115 °C. Both phase-field breakdown simulations results and experimental results verify the advantages of nanocomposites constructed by synergistic dual-filler composites in improving the energy density. Currently, the unique 5D 4 energy level of terbium (Tb3+) can contribute to narrow-band green light emission, which has high application prospects. However, due to its poor thermal stability at high temperatures, how to enhance the antithermal-quenching properties of Tb-doped phosphors has become a research difficulty in the field of solid-state lighting and temperature sensing. In this contribution, the antithermal-quenching green-emitting of terbium was achieved by Nb/Ta substitution to form GdNb 1-x Ta x O 4 :Tb3+ phosphors with various components. Photoluminescence analyses reveal an increasing trend in both the optical band gap and the intervalence charge transfer (IVCT) energy level positions with substitution. Variable-temperature spectrums observed that the phosphors under different compositions presented a large discrepancy in thermal quenching performance. It is elucidated that the elevated position of the IVCT energy level (IVCT-EL) predominantly influences thermal quenching, bolstering its role as a compensatory luminescence channel of 5D 3 →5D 4 far more than functioning as a quenching luminescence channel for Tb3+5D 3 /5D 4. Delving into the perspective of IVCT-EL positioning unveils the intrinsic mechanism through which IVCT-EL positions modulate the thermal quenching properties of phosphors with varying compositions due to the substitution of Ta for Nb. This insight facilitates the realization of enhanced thermal quenching resistance in phosphors. Furthermore, the antithermal-quenching property of Tb3+ in single-phase phosphors can be effectively modulated by excitation at different wavelengths. This tuning scheme not only advances the exploration of terbium-doped antithermal-quenching phosphors but also provides a novel strategy and reference for designing green-emitting phosphors in the fields of lighting and sensing. Underground transportation systems often involve multiple tunnels constructed closely together. Previous studies mainly focus on interaction between circular tunnels; by contrast, interaction mechanisms involving non-circular tunnels are not well understood. In this study, four physical three-dimensional centrifuge tests were performed in dry sand, simulating the response of existing circular and horseshoe-shaped tunnels to a newly excavated tunnel. Two different ratios between pillar depth and tunnel diameter (P/D) of 0.5 and 2.0 were considered. Furthermore, three-dimensional numerical back-analyses considering small-strain stiffness were undertaken. Results reveal that the ground settlement above an existing horseshoe-shaped tunnel is less sensitive to pillar depth than for circular ones. Furthermore, for P/D = 0.5, the existing horseshoe-shaped tunnel experiences both vertical and horizontal compression; more stress reduction occurs vertically than horizontally. A circular tunnel for the same pillar depth becomes compressed vertically but elongated horizontally; stress reduction around the existing circular tunnel is less vertically than horizontally. However, for P/D = 2.0, both types of tunnel become elongated vertically and compressed horizontally because of a larger reduction in vertical stresses than horizontal ones.
