The application of simple-batch and fed-batch growth strategies for the culture of CHO-S cells using Cellexus Biosystem's CellMaker PLUS bioreactor with disposable HybridBag is presented. Results show that the simple-batch culture showed comparable growth curves with a concentration of 4.1 x10(super 6) cells/mL, but is limiting to larger volumes. Fed-batch culture meanwhile exhibited a 3.8 x10(super 6) cells/mL concentration.

ATMI LifeSciences, Artelis and Pierre-Guerin Biolafitte developed a scalable, disposable bioreactor which facilitates animal cell growth on microcarriers.
