While combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) has successfully increased the lifespan of individuals infected with HIV, a significant portion of this population remains affected by HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND). C-C chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) has been well studied in immune response and as a co-receptor for HIV infection. HIV-infected (HIV+) patients experienced mild to significant amelioration of cognitive function when treated with different CCR5 antagonists, including maraviroc and cenicriviroc. Consistent with clinical results, Ccr5 knockout or knockdown rescued cognitive deficits in HIV animal models, with mechanisms of reduced microgliosis and neuroinflammation. Pharmacologic inhibition of CCR5 directly improved cerebral and hippocampal neuronal plasticity and cognitive function. By summarizing the animal and human studies of CCR5 in HIV-associated cognitive deficits, this review aims to provide an overview of the mechanistic role of CCR5 in HAND pathophysiology. This review also discusses the addition of CCR5 antagonists, such as maraviroc, to cART for targeted prevention and treatment of cognitive impairments in patients infected with HIV.

Urban highway tunnels are frequent accident locations, and predicting and analyzing road conditions after accidents to avoid traffic congestion is a key measure for tunnel traffic operation management. In this paper, 200 traffic accident data from the YingTian Street Tunnel in Nanjing city were analyzed and encoded to extract the main factors affecting tunnel traffic conditions from three aspects: time, traffic flow, and tunnel environment. Next, graph convolution long short-term memory networks were used to predict and fill in missing traffic flow data. Finally, seven independent variables selected by Pearson correlation analysis were input into the constructed BP neural network and random forest model to predict tunnel traffic conditions during accidents and accident duration. Experimental results show that the accuracy of random forest and BP neural networks in predicting traffic flow is 83.39% and 82.94%, respectively, and that the absolute error of the two models in predicting accident duration is 75% and 60% within 25 min, respectively. Both models perform well in predicting traffic conditions, and the random forest models perform better in terms of robustness and generalization in predicting crash duration. The experimental results have important implications for tunnel operation management during accidents.

Coral mud is a special rock and sediment mass and is widely distributed in the South China Sea. Studying the deformation of coral mud is important for infrastructure development in the South China Sea. When choosing a model to describe the long-term deformation of coral mud, it is difficult for a simple nonlinear deformation model to accurately and universally describe the complex deformation processes of the sediment; a complex model is too time-consuming and difficult to apply to practical engineering. In this article, based on a classical element model, the Burgers model, certain elements are modified in combination with one-dimensional oedometer tests under normally consolidated situations. Then, combined with an unloading and reloading test, the modified Burgers model is further improved, and a modified Burgers model considering stress history is obtained. The modified Burgers model considering the stress history only has four parameters, all of which have practical physical significance, which makes the model easy to use. Different loading times and cyclic loading and unloading tests prove that the model has good stability and can, not only simulate the deformation characteristics of sediment, but can also provide good variation rules for the parameters.

RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) can regulate multiple pathways by binding to RNAs, playing a variety of functions, such as localization, stability, and immunity. In recent years, with the development of technology, researchers have discovered that RBPs play a key role in the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification process. M6A methylation is the most abundant form of RNA modification in eukaryotes, which is defined as methylation on the sixth N atom of adenine in RNA. Insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 3 (IGF2BP3) is one of the components of m6A binding proteins, which plays an important role in decoding m6A marks and performing various biological functions. IGF2BP3 is abnormally expressed in many human cancers, often associated with poor prognosis. Here, we summarize the physiological role of IGF2BP3 in organisms and describe its role and mechanism in tumors. These data suggest that IGF2BP3 may be a valuable therapeutic target and prognostic marker in the future.

Several observational studies have confirmed that the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus2 (SARS-CoV-2) might substantially affect the gastrointestinal (GI) system by replicating in human small intestine enterocytes. Yet, so far, no study has reported the effects of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccines on gut microbiota alterations. In this study, we examined the effects of the BBIBP-CorV vaccine (ChiCTR2000032459, sponsored by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products/Sinopharm), on gut microbiota. Fecal samples were collected from individuals whoreceived two doses of intramuscular injection of BBIBP-CorV and matched unvaccinated controls. DNA extracted from fecal samples was subjected to 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing analysis. The composition and biological functions of the microbiota between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals were compared. Compared with unvaccinated controls, vaccinated subjects exhibited significantly reduced bacterial diversity, elevated firmicutes/bacteroidetes (F/B) ratios, a tendency towards Faecalibacterium-predominant enterotypes, and altered gut microbial compositions and functional potentials. Specifically, the intestinal microbiota in vaccine recipients was enriched with Faecalibacterium and Mollicutes and with a lower abundance of Prevotella, Enterococcus, Leuconostocaceae, and Weissella. Microbial function prediction by phylogenetic investigation of communities using reconstruction of unobserved states (PICRUSt) analysis further indicated that Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways involved in carbohydrate metabolism and transcription were positively associated with vaccine inoculation, whereas capacities in neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and cancers were negatively affected by vaccines. Vaccine inoculation was particularly associated with gut microbiota alterations, as was demonstrated by the improved composition and functional capacities of gut microbiota.

Objective: Numerous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been identified as genetic contributors to atrial fibrillation (AF). The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of genome-wide N 6 -methyladenosine (m 6 A)-SNPs on AF. Method: m 6 A-SNPs were identified by analysis of raw data from published AF GWAS datasets and the list of m 6 A-SNPs from the m 6 AVar database. Expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) analysis was conducted to evaluate the effects of m 6 A-SNPs on gene expression. The expression of linked genes was validated in three independent AF-associated gene expression datasets (GSE14975, GSE108660 and GSE2240). Results: A total of 1429 (6.2%) unique m 6 A-SNPs that were significantly associated with AF were identified. Seventeen m 6 A-SNPs in 14 genes reached genome-wide significance. Eight m 6 A-SNPs demonstrated eQTL signals. Four m 6 A-SNPs (rs383692, rs3211105, rs1061259 and rs1152582) exhibited strong cis-eQTL signals associated with the gene expression levels of SMIM8 , JMJD1C and SYNE2 . SYNE2 and SMIM8 had differential gene expression levels between the AF and sinus rhythm groups. In addition, SYNE2 expression was uniformly downregulated in AF samples compared with normal control samples in the three datasets. Conclusions: Our results provide the first demonstration that m 6 A-SNPs are strongly associated with AF, and extend understanding of m 6 A modification as a potential biological pathway underlying AF.

Background: The SARS-CoV-2 vaccine has been implemented in response to the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic worldwide. Dysregulation of gut metabolite is associated with COVID-19 patients. However, the effect of vaccination on the gut metabolite remains unknown, and it is critical to investigate the shifts in metabolic profiles following vaccine treatment. Methods: In the present study, we conducted a case-control study to assess the fecal metabolic profiles between individuals who received two doses of intramuscular injection of an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidate (BBIBP-CorV) (n = 20), and matched unvaccinated controls (n = 20) using untargeted gas chromatography and time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC-TOF/MS). Results: Significant different metabolic profiles were observed between subjects receiving SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccines and the unvaccinated. Among a total of 243 metabolites from 27 ontology classes identified in the study cohort, 64 metabolic markers and 15 ontology classes were dramatically distinct between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. There were 52 enhanced (such as Desaminotyrosine, Phenylalanine) and 12 deficient metabolites (such as Octadecanol, 1-Hexadecanol) in vaccinated individuals. Along with altered metabolic compositions, multiple functional pathways in Small MoleculePathway Database (SMPDB) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) varied between groups. Our results indicated that urea cycle; alanine, aspartate, and glutamate metabolism; arginine and proline metabolism; phenylalanine metabolism and tryptophan metabolism were abundant after vaccination. Additionally, correlation analysis showed that intestinal microbiome was related to alteration in metabolite composition and functions. Conclusions: The present study indicated the alterations in the gut metabolome after COVID-19 vaccination and the findings provide a valuable resource for in-depth exploration of mechanisms between gut metabolite and SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccines.

Improving the digital economy and environmental governance efficiency are important methods for current high-quality economic development. Based on the panel data of 11 cities in Zhejiang, on the eastern coast of China, fine particulate matter smaller than a 2.5 μm (PM2.5) environmental efficiency (PMEE) was measured by the undesirable output Slack-Based Measure-Data Envelopment Analysis (SBM-DEA) model. The fixed effect regression model, the divergences in the difference model and other empirical methods were obtained to test the driving mechanism of social-economic factors on the PMEE. The results showed that: (1) the concentration of PM2.5 was continually decreasing, and environmental quality experienced a continuous improvement in Zhejiang province in the observation period, although cities such as Hangzhou, Jiaxing and Shaoxing have relatively severe PM2.5 pollution. (2) The total average value of PMEE in Zhejiang was 0.6430 over the observation period, while there was still a lot of room for improvement when compared to the production frontier. Additionally, PMEE in each city showed a fluctuating growth trend. Cities with a higher PMEE were mainly Zhoushan, Hangzhou and Ningbo. (3) The level of the digital economy had a positive role in promoting the PMEE, which was statistically significant. The level of pollution control and technological innovation also had a significantly positive effect. However, the ratio of the industrial output value to the gross domestic product (GDP) presented a negative effect on the PMEE. In the future, it is suggested that the development of the urban digital economy should be accelerated in an all-around way to improve the efficiency of government pollution control and to improve the technical efficiency of PM2.5 via innovative technological progress.

The development of nanosystems, which can photooxygenate amyloid-β (Aβ), detect the Tau protein, and inhibit effectively the Tau aggregation, is increasingly important in the diagnosis and therapy of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Herein, UCNPs-LMB/VQIVYK (UCNPs: upconversion nanoparticles, LMB: Leucomethylene blue, and VQIVYK: Biocompatible peptide) is designed as a HOCl-controlled released nanosystem for AD synergistic treatment. Under exposure to high levels of HOCl, the released MB from UCNPs-LMB/VQIVYK will produce singlet oxygen (1O2) under red light to depolymerize Aβ aggregation and reduce cytotoxicity. Meanwhile, UCNPs-LMB/VQIVYK can act as an inhibitor to decrease Tau-induced neurotoxicity. Besides, UCNPs-LMB/VQIVYK can be used for upconversion luminescence (UCL) due to its unexceptionable luminescence properties. This HOCl-responsive nanosystem offers a new therapy for AD treatment.

The magmatic process within upper crust encompasses various contents such as the transition between magmatic and hydrothermal systems and changes in oxygen fugacity (ƒO2), which ultimately play key roles in the formation of porphyry Cu deposits (PCDs). However, tracing these magmatic processes, especially in porphyry systems, is not an easy task. This study reported the detailed process of magmatic fluid exsolution and systematical variation of magmatic ƒO2 within the upper crust of a Tongchang–Chang’anchong porphyry Cu deposit, based on detailed investigations of mineral crystallization sequences and compositional features of the minerals in the fertile porphyries. Results indicate that the fertile porphyries show a high initial ƒO2, with ΔFMQ ≥ +3.0 (ΔFMQ is the deviation of logƒO2 from the fayalite–magnetite–quartz (FMQ) buffer). The magmatic ƒO2 (ΔFMQ) continued to decrease to ~+2 until fluid exsolution occurred at ~790 °C due to wall-rock contamination. The magmatic fluid exsolution process caused a temporary increase in the ƒO2 (to ΔFMQ = ~+3.4). The high magmatic ƒO2 during this process (790–750 °C) resulted in a higher content of ore-forming materials in the exsolved magmatic fluid. When the temperature dropped below 750 °C, the magmatic ƒO2 began to continuously decrease and eventually reached ΔFMQ = ~+0.6. The lower magmatic ƒO2 hindered the further migration of ore-forming materials through the exsolved fluid during this process (< 750 °C). Results of this study indicate that the initial magma during the upper crustal magmatic process of PCDs generally has a high ƒO2, and the contamination of reduced components can significantly decrease the magmatic ƒO2. The early magmatic fluid exsolution process can maintain a high magmatic ƒO2 condition, thereby efficiently extracting ore-forming minerals and producing ore-forming fluids, which is the key to the formation of PCDs. The latter continuous decrease in magmatic ƒO2 during the fluid exsolution process may be the reason preventing the Tongchang–Chang’anchong porphyry Cu deposit to form a giant PCD.

Abstract Acute high‐altitude (HA) exposure induces physiological responses of the heart and blood pressure (BP). However, few studies have investigated the responses associated with dipper and non‐dipper BP patterns. In this prospective study, 72 patients underwent echocardiography and 24‐h ambulatory BP testing at sea level and HA. Patients were divided into dipper and non‐dipper groups according to BP at sea level. Acute HA exposure elevated 24‐h systolic and diastolic BP and increased BP variability, particularly in the morning. Moreover, acute exposure increased left ventricular torsion, end‐systolic elastance, effective arterial elastance, and untwisting rate, but reduced peak early diastolic velocity/late diastolic velocity and peak early diastolic velocity/early diastolic velocity, implying enhanced left ventricular systolic function but impaired filling. Dippers showed pronounced increases in night‐time BP, while non‐dippers showed significant elevation in day‐time BP, which blunted differences in nocturnal BP fall, and lowest night‐time and evening BP. Dippers had higher global longitudinal strain, torsion, and untwisting rates after acute HA exposure. Variations in night‐time systolic BP correlated with variations in torsion and global longitudinal strain. Our study firstly demonstrates BP and cardiac function variations during acute HA exposure in different BP patterns and BP increases in dippers at night, while non‐dippers showed day‐time increases. Furthermore, enhanced left ventricular torsion and global longitudinal strain are associated with BP changes. Non‐dippers showed poor cardiac compensatory and maladaptive to acute HA exposure. However, the exact mechanisms involved need further illumination.

Abstract Background Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects multiple arteries. Numerous studies have shown the inherent immune diversity in atheromatous plaques and suggest that the dysfunction of different immune cells plays an important role in atherosclerosis. However, few comprehensive bioinformatics analyses have investigated the potential coordinators that might orchestrate different immune cells to exacerbate atherosclerosis. Methods Immune infiltration of 69 atheromatous plaques from different arterial beds in GSE100927 were explored by single-sample-gene-set enrichment analysis (presented as ssGSEA scores), ESTIMATE algorithm (presented as immune scores) and CIBERSORT algorithm (presented as relative fractions of 22 types of immune cells) to divide these plaques into ImmuneScoreL cluster (of low immune infiltration) and ImmuneScoreH cluster (of high immune infiltration). Subsequently, comprehensive bioinformatics analyses including differentially-expressed-genes (DEGs) analysis, protein–protein interaction networks analysis, hub genes analysis, Gene-Ontology-terms and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis, gene set enrichment analysis, analysis of expression profiles of immune-related genes, correlation analysis between DEGs and hub genes and immune cells were conducted. GSE28829 was analysed to cross-validate the results in GSE100927. Results Immune-related pathways, including interferon-related pathways and PD-1 signalling, were highly enriched in the ImmuneScoreH cluster. HLA-related (except for HLA-DRB6) and immune checkpoint genes (IDO1, PDCD-1, CD274(PD-L1), CD47), RORC, IFNGR1, STAT1 and JAK2 were upregulated in the ImmuneScoreH cluster, whereas FTO, CRY1, RORB, and PER1 were downregulated. Abstract Some polymers are flexible, foldable, and wearable. Structural—functional composite is fabricated by adding inorganic fillers with functional properties. Up to date, compared with the polymer matrix, the composite prepared by polymer-inorganic fillers has lower flexibility, higher brittleness, and higher modulus of elasticity. In this paper, three-dimensional (3D) net-shaped submicron α-Al2O3, orthorhombic ZrO2, and rutile TiO2 fiber were fabricated by solution blowing spinning on a large scale. On the contrary, the elastic modulus (E) of the composite prepared by this 3D ceramic fiber was greatly reduced, and the flexibility of the composite was higher than that of the polymer matrix. When the strain was 75%, the E of the 3D net-shaped Al2O3 fiber-polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composite was 20% lower than that of PDMS. When the strain was 78%, the E of the 3D net-shaped TiO2 fiber-PDMS and 3D net-shaped ZrO2 fiber-PDMS composites decreased by 20% and 25%, respectively. This abnormal effect, namely the tunnel elastic enhancement effect, has great practical significance. In all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries, the composite inhibits lithium dendrite growth and the 3D inorganic network contributes to lithium ion transport. It is possible to promote the industrial production of low-cost and large-scale flexible solid-state lithium-ion batteries and it can enhance the energy storage density of energy storage materials. This novel idea also has bright prospects in flexible electronic materials.

Abstract Background This study was aimed to discover more biomarkers associated with spinal cord injury (SCI) by constructing a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network. Methods The transcriptome expression profile data related to SCI (GSE45006 GSE20907) were downloaded from GEO database. The differentially expressed RNAs (DERs), including lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs, between SCI and control groups were selected, which were then performed function enrichment analyses. Following that, a SCI-related ceRNA regulatory network was constructed. PCA analysis was performed on the genes constituting the ceRNA regulatory network directly related to SCI. Results In GSE45006 and GSE20907 datasets, there were respectively 3336 and 1453 DERs. Venn analysis showed that there were 429 DERs which had consistent differential expression direction. RGD1564534-miR-29b-5p relation pair and 103 miRNA-target regulatory pairs were integrated to construct the ceRNA regulatory network. Then a SCI-related ceRNA regulatory network including 8 mRNAs of IFNGR1, STAT2, CYBB, NFATC1, FCGR2B, HMOX1, TLR4, and HK2, a lncRNA of RGD1564534, and a miRNA of miR-29b-5p was constructed. Additionally, two pathways, osteoclast differentiation, and HIF-1 signaling pathway, were involved in this network. PCA indicated the samples before and after injury can be significantly distinguished based on the genes in the ceRNA network. Conclusion A total of 8 SCI-related mRNAs have been identified in the ceRNA network, including IFNGR1, STAT2, CYBB, NFATC1, FCGR2B, HMOX1, TLR4, and HK2. Moreover, RGD1564534 may serve as ceRNA by competitively binding to miR-29b-5p to regulate the expression of 8 SCI-related mRNAs. Therefore, these genes may serve as key biomarkers of SCI.

ObjectiveGynecological malignant tumor patients with hypertension, even if blood pressure is well controlled, are prone to hypertension before surgery. We plan to verify the effect of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on stabilizing blood pressure before operation.MethodsWe enrolled 91 patients and randomly divided them into TEAS group (n=46) and control group (n=45). Patients in TEAS group received TEAS at acupoints Hegu and Neiguan. Patients in control group received transcutaneous electrical stimulation at the nonacupoint position of the upper limbs. After entering the operating room, the blood pressure before and after induction was measured. The main results were the occurrence of preinduction hypertension and postinduction hypotension.ResultsThere was no difference in the general information of the two groups. There were four cases (9%) of preinduction hypertension in TEAS group and 13 cases (29%) in control group. The incidence in TEAS group was significantly lower (P=0.013). There were five cases (11%) of postinduction hypotension in TEAS group and eight cases (18%) in control group. There was no significant difference between the two groups (P=0.346). The systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and mean blood pressure (MBP) of the highest blood pressure before induction in TEAS group were lower than those in control group (P=0.002, 0.002, and 0.001). There was no difference in SBP, DBP, or MBP between the two groups on the day before the operation. Abstract The Island of Hawai’i was formed by repeated eruptions of basalts at an oceanic hotspot. Kı̄lauea, the youngest among the subaerial volcanoes of the island, erupted intensely in 2018. The eruption provided an opportunity to look into the mechanisms that operate at the volcano and associated earthquake activities, as it was recorded simultaneously, for the first time, by onshore and offshore seismometers. We used most of the publicly available seismic data during the eruption period, including temporary arrays, to build a more complete earthquake catalog during the eruption than that provided by the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. We used a short‐time‐average/long‐time‐average method to identify potential earthquakes. The detections were associated with events and automatically picked with P‐wave and S‐wave arrivals, which were used to locate the events in a three‐dimensional velocity model. After re‐examining these earthquake events, their coda/duration magnitudes were determined. The resulting half‐year catalog contains 375,736 events with one of the highest daily earthquake numbers ever reported (6,128 on 21 June 2018). A great number of events were recorded during the caldera collapses, from its beginning until its rapid ending. The catalog also contains abundant events near the Pu’u‘ō‘ō vent and in the lower East Rift Zone, where an increase of seismicity in mid‐July and August indicated a step‐up in magma intrusion after the eruption.

2D ZnO is one of the most attractive materials for potential applications in photocatalysis, gas and light detection, ultraviolet light-emitting diodes, resistive memory, and pressure-sensitive devices. The electronic structures, magnetic properties, and optical properties of M (Li, Na, Mg, Ca, or Ga) and TM (Cr, Co, Cu, Ag, or Au) adsorbed g-ZnO were investigated with density functional theory (DFT). It is found that the band structure, charge density difference, electron spin density, work function, and absorption spectrum of g-ZnO can be tuned by adsorbing M or TM atoms. More specifically, the specific charge transfer occurs between g-ZnO and adsorbed atom, indicating the formation of a covalent bond. The work functions of M adsorbed g-ZnO systems are obviously smaller than that of intrinsic g-ZnO, implying great potential in high-efficiency field emission devices. The Li, Na, Mg, Ca, Ga, Ag, or Au adsorbed g-ZnO systems, the Cr adsorbed g-ZnO system, and the Co or Cu adsorbed g-ZnO systems exhibit non-magnetic semiconductor proprieties, magnetic semiconductor proprieties, and magnetic metal proprieties, respectively. In addition, the magnetic moments of Cr, Co, or Cu adsorbed g-ZnO systems are 4 μB, 3 μB, or 1 μB, respectively, which are mainly derived from adsorbed atoms, suggesting potential applications in nano-scale spintronics devices. Compared with the TM absorbed g-ZnO systems, the M adsorbed g-ZnO systems have more obvious absorption peaks for visible light, particularly for Mg or Ca adsorbed g-ZnO systems. Their absorption peaks appear in the near-infrared region, suggesting great potential in solar photocatalysis. Our work contributes to the design and fabrication of high-efficiency field emission devices, nano-scale spintronics devices, and visible-light responsive photocatalytic materials.

PurposeIt is well-known that the pathological complete response (pCR) rate in patients with luminal A cancer (LAC) is lower than those of other subtypes of breast cancer. The phenotype of cancer often alters after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) which may be related to hypoxia, and the latter might induce the drift of the estrogen receptor (ER). The phenotype drift in local advanced LAC after NAC might influence the long-term prognosis.MethodsThe oxygen concentration of cancer tissues during NAC was recorded and analyzed (n = 43). The expression of ER and claudin-6 was detected in pre- and post-NAC specimens.ResultsNAC might induce the cycling intracanceral hypoxia, and the pattern was related to NAC response. The median follow-up time was 61 months. Most of the patients (67%) with stable or increased ER and claudin-6 expression exhibited perfect prognosis (DFS = 100%, 61 months). About 20% of patients with decreased claudin-6 would undergo the poor prognosis (DFS = 22.2%, 61 months). The contrasting prognosis (100% vs. 22.2%) had nothing to do with the response of NAC in the above patients. Only 13% patients had stable claudin-6 and decreased ER, whose prognosis might relate to the response of NAC.ConclusionNAC might induce cycling intracanceral hypoxia to promote the phenotype drift in local advanced LAC, and the changes in ER and claudin-6 after NAC would determine the long-term prognosis.

Depolymerization of lignin can yield phenolic monomeric platform molecules, but depolymerization and repolymerization are proposed as concurrent processes, which greatly limit the yield of monomeric products. Molecular-level characterization of heavy intermediates during depolymerization process is crucial for developing efficient methods to depolymerize raw lignin into monomers. In this study, a reactor-integrated negative-ion electrospray ionization high-resolution mass spectrometry was used to real-time analyze the lignin depolymerization process under operando conditions. Elemental composition, structural information as well as time-resolved evolution of a series of dimers and oligomers were obtained, which is hard to achieve with traditional GC-MS methods. The real-time evolution profiles of monomers, dimers, and oligomers reveals a possible repolymerization process during lignin depolymerization. These results provide insight into the complex lignin depolymerization process.

The human gut microbiota play essential roles in metabolism and human health, especially by enzymatically utilizing dietary fiber that the host cannot directly digest and releasing functional components including short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and hydroxycinnamic acids (e.g., ferulic acid). In our previous study, seven potential feruloyl esterase (FAE) genes were identified from the gut microbiota. In the current work, one of the genes encoding a novel FAE (DfFAE) from Dorea formicigenerans of Firmicutes was bacterially expressed, purified and characterized. The 30.5 kDa type-A DfFAE has an optimum pH and temperature of 8.4 and 40 °C, respectively, exhibiting a higher substrate specificity toward short-chain acyl-ester substrate (pNPA). The AlphaFold2 based ab initio structural modeling revealed a five α-helices cap domain that shaped an unusually narrow and deep active site pocket containing a specific substrate access tunnel in DfFAE. Furthermore, rational design strategy was subjected to the active site pocket in an aim of improving its enzymatic activities. The mutants V252A, N156A, W255A, P149A, and P186A showed 1.8 to 5.7-fold increase in catalytic efficiency toward pNPA, while W255A also exhibited altered substrate preference toward long-chain substrate pNPO (45.5-fold). This study highlighted an unusual active site architecture in DfFAE that influenced its substrate selectivity and illustrated the applicability of rational design for enhanced enzymatic properties.

PurposeTo evaluate the influence of the origin of astigmatism on the correction of myopic astigmatism by toric implantable collamer lens (TICL) and compare it with femtosecond laser small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE).MethodsOcular residual astigmatism (ORA) was determined by vector analysis using manifest refraction and Scheimpflug camera imaging of the anterior cornea. One-to-one matching between the TICL and SMILE groups was performed by preoperative manifest refractive astigmatism (RA) and ORA, tolerating a maximum difference of 0.50 diopter (D) for RA and 0.25 D for ORA. Patients of each group were further divided into groups according to ORA (high > 1.0 D; low ≤ 1.0 D). The baseline and 12-month postoperative data were analyzed. Data are expressed as mean ± standard deviation (SD). A value of p less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant.ResultsFor the TICL group, no significant differences in the postoperative RA, safety index, efficacy index, index of success (IOS), correction index (CI), and angle of error (AOE) were found between high (n = 36) and low ORA (n = 36) groups (Mann–Whitney U test, p > 0.05). For the SMILE group, the postoperative RA (high: −0.67 ± 0.43 D, low: −0.39 ± 0.29 D, Mann–Whitney U test, p = 0.003) and IOS (high: 0.50 ± 0.43, low: 0.25 ± 0.23, Mann–Whitney U test, p = 0.003) were greater in the high ORA group. When comparing TICL and SMILE groups, the mean postoperative RA (TICL: −0.48 ± 0.29 D, SMILE: −0.67 ± 0.43 D, Mann–Whitney U test, p = 0.03) and IOS (TICL: 0.32 ± 0.23, SMILE: 0.50 ± 0.43, Mann–Whitney U test, p = 0.03) were significantly higher in the SMILE group when the ORA was >1.0 D.ConclusionBoth TICL and SMILE are effective in correcting myopic astigmatism. ORA has a lesser effect on TICL than on SMILE.

Asymmetric septate uterus, commonly known as Robert’s uterus, is an exceedingly rare uterine malformation described for the first time in 1970 by Robert H. Currently, surgery is the therapy of choice for Robert’s uterus, with surgical choices ranging from laparotomy to minimally invasive surgery. In this paper, we reported that a 14-year-old girl with primary dysmenorrhea that gradually worsened three months after menarche had surgery after many imaging evaluations, and that the intraoperative diagnosis was Robert’s uterus. The diagnostic and therapeutic laparo-endoscopic single site(LESS) combined with hysteroscopy surgery for Robert’s uterine abnormality was shown via a step-by-step presentation of the method accompanied by narrated video footage. During the ten-month postoperative follow-up period, the patient had monthly recurrences with normal menstrual volume and no dysmenorrhea, demonstrating that as a minimally invasive treatment, LESS combined with hysteroscopy surgery is a successful methodfor diagnosing and treating this specific malformation.

The aquaculture industry is vital in providing a valuable protein food source for humans, but generates a huge amount of solid and dissolved wastes that pose great risks to the environment and aquaculture sustainability. Suspended solids (in short SS), one of the aquaculture wastes, are very difficult to be treated due to their high organic contents. The bioconversion from wastewater, food effluents, and activated sludge into poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a sustainable alternative to generate an additional income and could be highly attractive to the agricultural and environmental management firms. However, little is known about its potential application in aquaculture wastes. In the present study, we first determined that 7.2% of SS was PHB. Then, the production of PHB was increased two-fold by the optimal fermentation conditions of wheat bran and microbial cocktails at a C/N ratio of 12. Also, the PHB-enriched SS showed a higher total ammonia nitrogen removal rate. Importantly, we further demonstrated that the PHB-enriched SS as a feed could promote fish growth and up-regulate the expression of the immune-related genes. Our study developed an eco-friendly and simple approach to transforming problematic SS wastes into PHB-enriched high-quality food for omnivorous fish, which will increase the usage efficiency of SS and provide a cheaper diet for aquatic animals.

Recent studies have indicated the critical influence of gut microbiota on the occurrence of obesity. There is a significant risk of obesity in people with schizophrenia. This work proposed that the disorder of gut microbiota in patients with schizophrenia was based on microbial enterotypes. Ninety-seven patients with schizophrenia and 69 matched health controls were eligible. The fresh feces of all the subjects were collected and used to complete 16S rRNA sequence. Statistical analysis was performed to identify the intestinal type of gut microbiota and analyze their potential effects on metabolic function. The patients with enterotype-P had a higher BMI than that of the others. Several differences in the gut microbes of enterotype-P were found between the patients and the controls. Proteobacteria and Firmicutes had significantly higher abundance in the patients’ group with enterotype-P. The Bacteroidetes had higher abundance in health controls with enterotype-P. Different metabolic pathways of the microbiota with the enterotype-P were identified in the subjects categorized in different BMI intervals. The schizophrenia patients had a significantly higher BMI than that of health controls. The patients with enterotype-P had a higher BMI. Therefore, the enterotype-P might have a critical influence on a variety of metabolic pathways to disturb the metabolism of glucose and lipid in human body.

Abstract Quasi‐2D metal halide perovskite light emitting diodes (PeLEDs) have attracted a lot of attentions in recent years, while their potential applications in displays and lighting are limited by the device stability. Although defect passivation in PeLEDs is an effective method to ameliorate the unstable problem, the underlying mechanisms need to be further explored. Herein, organic spacer cations with different charge distributions and formation energies in quasi‐2D CsPbBr3 perovskites are utilized to unravel the defect passivation mechanisms, including phenylmethanamine, 2‐phenylethanamine bromide, and 4‐phenylbutylammonium. The experimental findings and density functional theory calculation reveal that the defect passivation occurs by the electrostatic interaction between defective PbBr64− octahedrons and proper organic spacer cations during the annealing process, particularly at the grain boundaries. The thermal stability of the perovskite films and device performance are improved after the effective defect passivation process. The exploration of the defect passivation process in perovskites will be beneficial to the development of high‐performance PeLEDs.

Pathogenic Th17, featured by their production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, are considered as a key player in most autoimmune diseases. The transcriptome of them is obviously distinct from that of conventional regulatory Th17. However, chromatin accessibility of the two Th17 groups have not been comprehensively compared yet. Here, we found that their chromatin-accessible regions(ChARs) significantly correlated with the expression of related genes, indicating that they might engage in the regulation of these genes. Indeed, pathogenic Th17 specific ChARs (patho-ChARs) exhibited a significant distribution preference in TSS-proximal region. We further filtered the patho-ChARs based on their conservation among mammalians or their concordance with the expression of their related genes. In either situation, the filtered patho-ChARs also showed a preference for TSS-proximal region. Enrichment of expression concordant patho-ChARs related genes suggested that they might involve in the pathogenicity of Th17. Thus, we also examined all ChARs of patho-ChARs related genes, and defined an opening ChAR set according to their changes in the Th17 to Th1 conversion. Interestingly, these opening ChARs displayed a sequential accessibility change from TSS-proximal region to TSS-distal region. Meanwhile, a group of patho-TFs (transcription factors) were identified based on the appearance of their binding motifs in the opening ChARs. Consistently, some of them also displayed a similar preference for binding the TSS-proximal region. Single-cell transcriptome analysis further confirmed that these patho-TFs were involved in the generation of pathogenic Th17. Therefore, our results shed light on a new regulatory mechanism underlying the generation of pathogenic Th17, which is worth to be considered for autoimmune disease therapy.

Vascular calcification (VC) is a complex ectopic calcification process and an important indicator of increased risk for diabetes, atherosclerosis, chronic kidney disease, and other diseases. Therefore, clarifying the pathogenesis of VC is of great clinical significance. Numerous studies have shown that the onset and progression of VC are similar to bone formation. Members of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family of proteins are considered key molecules in the progression of vascular calcification. BMP type I receptor A (BMPR1A) is a key receptor of BMP factors acting on the cell membrane, is widely expressed in various tissues and cells, and is an important “portal” for BMP to enter cells and exert their biological effect. In recent years, many discoveries have been made regarding the occurrence and treatment of ectopic ossification-related diseases involving BMP signaling targets. Studies have confirmed that BMPR1A is involved in osteogenic differentiation and that its high expression in vascular endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells can lead to vascular calcification. This article reviews the role of BMPR1A in vascular calcification and the possible underlying molecular mechanisms to provide clues for the clinical treatment of such diseases.

Abstract The synthesis of core@double‐shells structured TiO2@C@SiO2 nanowires (NWs) with variable thickness of carbon inner shell and SiO2 outer shell was achieved by individually controlling the chemical vapour deposition time and amount of silicon precursor added in the sol–gel synthesis. The resultant TiO2@C@SiO2 NWs filled nanocomposites exhibited an excellent dielectric performance with simultaneously improved dielectric constant and suppressed dielectric loss, which could be further regulated by individually controlling the carbon inner shell and SiO2 outer shell thickness. More importantly, the influences of the conductive carbon inner shell and insulated SiO2 outer shell thickness on the dielectric performance of nanocomposites were clearly revealed. The increase of the conductive carbon inner shell thickness would lead to an increase in dielectric constant and loss of nanocomposites, while the insulated SiO2 outer shell exhibited a totally opposite law that the dielectric constant and loss of nanocomposites decrease with increasing SiO2 outer shell thickness. Numerical simulations were also carried out to theoretically verify the relationship between the dielectric loss and SiO2 outer shell thickness. This promising controllable multi‐shell structure could be extended to a variety of hybrids to develop high‐performance dielectric nanocomposites.

Abstract Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys can be used as biomedical materials because of their excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. However, the rapid degradation rate of Mg‐based materials limits their application in biodegradable intravascular stents. To overcome this issue, we constructed a hydrophobic coating on magnesium. After pre‐treatments with alkali and a silane coupling agent of pure magnesium, 4,4’‐diphenylmethane‐diisocyanate (MDI) and amino‐terminated polydimethylsiloxane (H2N–PDMS–NH2) were stepwise deposited on the surface, forming an amino‐containing hydrophobic coating (–(M/P)3) to enhance the corrosion resistance. Furthermore, polypeptide TK14 was immobilised on the hydrophobic coating to promote vascular endothelial cell adhesion and proliferation. The electrochemical results revealed that the self‐corrosion current density (icorr) of –(M/P)3 decreased by approximately 4.5 orders of magnitude compared with that of pure Mg. After TK14 immobilisation, the number of endothelial cells adhering to the surface of –(M/P)3–T increased significantly. Although the corrosion resistance of –(M/P)3–T was slightly reduced, the subcutaneous implantation inflammatory response of the surrounding tissues was lower, showing suitable biocompatibility. Therefore, the polypeptide TK14 functionalised hydrophobic coating may be a promising candidate material for the interface of magnesium‐based cardiovascular implants.

Abstract High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) has been known to involve in the pathogenesis of many inflammatory diseases. The aim of this study was to establish animal model of acute rhinosinusitis (ARS), and determine whether ethyl pyruvate (EP) attenuate inflammatory response of sinonasal mucosa by inhibiting HMGB1 in ARS animals. Thirty-six Sprague Dawley (SD) rat were used as follows: six normal controls without intervention (group 1); thirty rats were used for establishment of ARS rats model by nasal insertion of Merocel sponge, and model rats without any treatments (group 2), treated with nasal drops of sterile saline (group 3), 10 μl EP (group 4), and 20 μl EP (group 5), twice a day for 5 days, respectively. Bacterial culture was done regularly and the main bacterial strains were identified using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry. HMGB1 expression in sinonasal mucosa was detected by immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR. Serum levels of HMGB1, IL-6, and TNF-α were determined by ELISA. Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a devastating neurodegenerative disorder with no disease-modifying treatment. AD progression is characterized by cognitive decline, neuroinflammation, and accumulation of amyloid-beta (Aβ) and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain, leading to neuronal and glial dysfunctions. Neuropeptides govern diverse pathophysiological processes and represent key players in AD pathogenesis, regulating synaptic plasticity, glial cell functions and amyloid pathology. Activation of the pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC)-derived neuropeptide and its receptor from the melanocortin receptor (MCR) family have previously been shown to rescue the impairment in hippocampus-dependent synaptic plasticity in the APP/PS1 mouse model of AD. However, the functional roles of MCR signaling in AD conditions, particularly in glial functions, are largely unknown. In this study, we investigated the potential benefits of MCR activation in AD. In APP/PS1 transgenic mice, we demonstrate that MCR activation mediated by the central administration of its agonist D-Tyr MTII substantially reduces Aβ accumulation, while alleviating global inflammation and astrocytic activation, particularly in the hippocampus. MCR activation prominently reduces the A1 subtype of reactive astrocytes, which is considered a key source of astrocytic neurotoxicity in AD. Concordantly, MCR activation suppresses microglial activation, while enhancing their association with amyloid plaques. The blunted activation of microglia may contribute to the reduction in the neurotoxic phenotypes of astrocytes. Importantly, transcriptome analysis reveals that MCR activation restores the impaired homeostatic processes and microglial reactivity in the hippocampus in APP/PS1 mice. Collectively, our findings demonstrate the potential of MCR signaling as therapeutic target for AD.

Abstract The human leukocyte antigen F-associated transcript 10 (FAT10) is a member of the small ubiquitin-like protein family that binds to its target proteins and subjects them to degradation by the ubiquitin–proteasome system (UPS). In the heart, FAT10 plays a cardioprotective role and affects predisposition to cardiac arrhythmias after myocardial ischemia (MI). However, whether and how FAT10 influences cardiac arrhythmias is unknown. We investigated the role of FAT10 in regulating the sodium channel Nav1.5, a major regulator of cardiac arrhythmias. Fat10 was conditionally deleted in cardiac myocytes using Myh6-Cre and Fat10 F/F mice (cFat10 −/− ). Compared with their wild-type littermates, cFat10 −/− mice showed prolonged RR, PR, and corrected QT (QTc) intervals, were more likely to develop ventricular arrhythmia, and had increased mortality after MI. Patch-clamp studies showed that the peak Na+ current was reduced, and the late Na+ current was significantly augmented, resulting in a decreased action potential amplitude and delayed depolarization. Immunoblot and immunofluorescence analyses showed that the expression of the membrane protein Nav1.5 was decreased. Coimmunoprecipitation experiments demonstrated that FAT10 stabilized Nav1.5 expression by antagonizing Nav1.5 ubiquitination and degradation. Specifically, FAT10 bound to the lysine residues in the C-terminal fragments of Nav1.5 and decreased the binding of Nav1.5 to the Nedd4-2 protein, a ubiquitin E3 ligase, preventing degradation of the Nav1.5 protein. Collectively, our findings showed that deletion of the Fat10 in cardiac myocytes led to increased cardiac arrhythmias and increased mortality after MI. Thus, FAT10 protects against ischemia-induced ventricular arrhythmia by binding to Nav1.5 and preventing its Neddylation and degradation by the UPS after MI.

Previous studies have suggested that polypeptides extracted from milk, soybean, fish, eggs, and meat possess potential anti-inflammatory effects. To date, few studies have reported the anti-inflammatory function of sturgeon peptides and their underlying mechanisms are unknown. The current study was therefore to determine the anti-inflammatory potential of sturgeon peptides with lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 inflammatory model. Pepsin hydrolysate (PeH) was purified by ultrafiltration and Sephadex G-15 gel filtration chromatography. PeH significantly reduced the inflammatory mediator (NO) and inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β) expression in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, the purified sturgeon peptide (F2) possessed strong antioxidant potential and effectively inhibited DPPH and ABTS free radicals. F2 significantly suppressed the expression of MAPK, IκBα, and NF-κB p65, indicating that F2 exerted anti-inflammatory influence by the inhibition of MAPK and NF-κB pathways.

As a result of the difficulties brought by COVID-19 and its associated lockdowns, many individuals and companies have turned to robots in order to overcome the challenges of the pandemic. Compared with traditional human labor, robotic and autonomous systems have advantages such as an intrinsic immunity to the virus and an inability for human-robot-human spread of any disease-causing pathogens, though there are still many technical hurdles for the robotics industry to overcome. This survey comprehensively reviews over 200 reports covering robotic systems which have emerged or have been repurposed during the past several months, to provide insights to both academia and industry. In each chapter, we cover both the advantages and the challenges for each robot, finding that robotics systems are overall apt solutions for dealing with many of the problems brought on by COVID-19, including: diagnosis, screening, disinfection, surgery, telehealth, care, logistics, manufacturing and broader interpersonal problems unique to the lockdowns of the pandemic. By discussing the potential new robot capabilities and fields they applied to, we expect the robotics industry to take a leap forward due to this unexpected pandemic.

Objectives Microwave ablation (MWA) is used for the treatment of severe secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT), but its efficacy and safety still remained unclear. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of ultrasound (US)-guided MWA in patients with SHPT. Methods The PubMed, Cochrane library, Embase, China national knowledge infrastructure (CNKI) and Wanfang databases were searched to identify published studies that evaluated the efficacy and safety of US-guided MWA in patients with SHPT. The primary outcomes were parathyroid hormone (PTH), serum calcium and phosphorus levels. Results A total of 26 studies with 932 patients were identified. The PTH levels showed significant reduction at 1 month [weighted mean difference (WMD) = 945.33, 95% CI: 797.15∼1093.52] and 6 months (WMD = 1,151.91, 95% CI: 990.93∼1312.89) after MWA of SHPT patients. The serum calcium (WMD = 0.39, 95% CI: 0.30 ∼ 0.48) and phosphorus levels (WMD = 0.64, 95% CI: 0.43 ∼ 0.85) showed significant reduction at 6 months after MWA of SHPT patients. The most common complications observed were hypocalcemia (35.2%) and transient hoarseness (9.2%). No other major complications or death occurred in our study patients. Conclusion These findings suggest MWA as a safe and effective minimally invasive technique for the management of SHPT. PTH, calcium, and phosphorus levels were significantly reduced at 1 and 6 months after MWA.

Attention is an important field to explore the importance of each convolutional kernel channel/weight. The existing attention methods mostly use the Squeeze-and-Excitation (SE) technology to extract the global nonlinear feature vectors as the weights of corresponding feature maps. However, the pooling operators and fully-connected layers used in SE technology extract global features at the cost of much valuable information loss and the parameter amount increase. Actually, the feature map containing full information is a ready-made and better attention for other feature maps in the same layer. Simultaneously the products of feature maps will bring powerful non-linearity. Seeing this, Kernel Product (KP) technology is proposed to simply get useful nonlinear attention. To verify the effectiveness of KP, the proposed KP module is employed on Selective Kernel Networks (SKNets) to take the place of the original SE technology. The variety of SKNets is called Kernel Product Networks (KPNets) in this paper. In addition, identity mapping is used to solve the non-convergence problem in very deep neural networks. The KPNets are evaluated on ImageNet-1k, CIFAR-10, and CIFAR-100. The experiment results show that KPNets outperform many state-of-the-art methods and get a similar but more efficient performance than its SKNets with counterpart.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common cancers and the fourth leading cause of death in men. YEATS domain containing 2 (YEATS2) gene encodes a scaffolding subunit of the ATAC complex. We found that YEATS2 was upregulated in HCC tissues and was associated with a poor prognosis. However, the role of YEATS2 in HCC remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of YEATS2 on the progression of HCC and to elucidate its related mechanisms. We found that overexpression of YEATS2 promoted tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion through the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and regulation of extracellular matrix. These findings help to understand the role of YEATS2 in HCC, and YEATS2 may become a new target for HCC therapy.

Adulteration of meat with carnivorous animals (such as cats, dogs, foxes, and minks) can cause ethical problems and lead to disease transmission; however, DNA quantitative methods for four carnivorous species in one tube reaction are still rare. In this study, a carnivore-specific nuclear DNA sequence that is conserved in carnivorous animals but has base differences within the sequence was used to design universal primers for its conserved region and corresponding species-specific probes for the hypervariable region. A novel universal primer multiplex real-time PCR (UP-M-rtPCR) approach was developed for the specific identification and quantitation of cat, dog, fox, and mink fractions in a single reaction, with a 0.05 ng absolute limit of detection (LOD) and 0.05% relative LOD. This approach simplifies the PCR system and improves the efficiency of simultaneous identification of multiple animal-derived ingredients in meat. UP-M-rtPCR showed good accuracy (0.48–7.04% relative deviation) and precision (1.42–13.78% relative standard deviation) for quantitative analysis of cat, dog, fox, and mink DNA as well as excellent applicability for the evaluation of meat samples.

Background: Postoperative fluid management is vital for preventing perioperative morbidity and mortality in high-complexity advanced ovarian cancer surgery. We investigated the feasibility and benefits of restrictive fluid therapy on postoperative recovery. Methods: Patients with advanced ovarian cancer who underwent open radical surgery were randomized into the restrictive or liberal fluid group. The endpoints were the length of hospital stay post-surgery and the incidence of complications within 30 days. Results: The restrictive and liberal fluid regimen groups included 30 and 41 patients, respectively. The length of hospital stay was 16.5-days and 21.0-days for the restrictive and liberal group, respectively (p = 0.035). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that length of hospital stay was 2.971-days shorter in the restrictive group than in the liberal group (95% confidence interval (CI): –5.818~–0.124, p = 0.04). The incidence of complications at the end of 30 days was significantly lower in the restrictive group than in the liberal intravenous group (26.7% versus 51.2%; p = 0.032). Adjusted logistic regression demonstrated that restrictive group could significantly reduce the risk of postoperative complications by 68% (Odds Ratio 0.32, 95% CI: 0.11–0.91, p = 0.033). Conclusions: Restrictive fluid management after high-complexity advanced ovarian cancer surgery can significantly decrease the risk of major postoperative complications and facilitate postoperative recovery.

With the modernization of GLONASS, four M+ and two K satellites are able to broadcast code-division multiple-access signals at a G3 frequency. The evaluation of the G3 frequency is necessary, among which the satellite-induced code pseudorange variation is one of the most important indicators. Using the code-minus-carrier (CMC) combination, it was found that the magnitude of the code pseudorange variations at the G3 frequency is about 1 m, which is primarily caused by the fact that G3 is transmitted from a different antenna, the same as G1 and G2. However, different from BDS-2 medium Earth orbit and inclined geo-synchronous orbit satellites, the code pseudorange variations at the GLONASS G3 frequency have a very weak relationship with the elevation angle, while a strong correlation exists with the time series, by using wavelet transformation and correlation analysis. Validation is carried out using a single-site model and a continuous multi-site model over 24 h, and the correction performance of these two models is comparable. The systematic deviation of the CMC and Melbourne–Wübbena combinations are significantly corrected, so only random errors remain. With a more concentrated distribution of the pseudorange residuals of single point positioning, the standard deviation of the pseudorange residuals is reduced.

The treatment of metal-contaminated sediment generated in environmental dredging projects often requires both reduction and remediation, and the electric field has good application prospects in the integration of reduction and remediation. In this study, based on the electro-osmosis, vacuum, and vacuum electro-osmosis methods, a detachable test system was made. Experiments of the three methods were carried out independently on the reduction and remediation of dredged sediment from Tai Lake under pollution-free and Cu-contaminated conditions. The results show that copper contamination weakens the effect of reduction, and the production of copper precipitates makes the soil more prone to cracking and blocking drainage channels, which has the greatest impact on the electro-osmosis method. In terms of copper concentration, vacuum electro-osmosis achieves the transport and discharge of contaminants, and has the best remediation effect. The removal rates at the anode and cathode are 45.1% and 50.0%, respectively. A correlation model based on electrical conductivity, moisture content, and contaminant concentration was established to facilitate the determination of contaminant concentrations in actual projects. Electro-migration plays a dominant role in the remediation process, and the reduction affects the electric field distribution and, thus, the migration efficiency.

Using first principles based on density functional theory (DFT), the CO, NH3, NO, and NO2 gas adsorbed on intrinsic Graphite-like ZnO (g−ZnO) and vacancy-deficient g−ZnO were systematically studied. For intrinsic g−ZnO, the adsorption energy of NH3, NO, and NO2 adsorption defective g−ZnO systems increased significantly due to the introduction of Zn vacancy (VZn). Especially, for NH3, NO, and NO2 adsorbed Zn-vacancy g−ZnO (VZn/g−ZnO) systems increased to 1.366 eV, 2.540 eV and 2.532 eV, respectively. In addition, with the introduction of vacancies, the adsorption height of the gases adsorbed on VZn/g−ZnO system is significantly reduced, especially the adsorption height of the NH3 adsorbed on VZn/g−ZnO system is reduced to 0.686 Å. It is worth mentioning that the introduction of O-vacancy (VO) significantly enhances the charge transfer between NO or NO2 and VO/g−ZnO. This suggest that the defective g−ZnO is more suitable for detecting NH3, NO and NO2 gas. It is interesting to note that the adsorption of NO and NO2 gases gives rise to magnetic moments of 1 μB and 0.858 μB for g−ZnO, and 1 μB and 1 μB for VO/g−ZnO. In addition, VZn induced 1.996 μB magnetic moments for intrinsic g−ZnO, and the CO, NH3, NO and NO2 change the magnetic of VZn/g−ZnO. The adsorption of NO2 causes the intrinsic g−ZnO to exhibit metallic properties, while the adsorption of NH3 gas molecules causes VZn/g−ZnO also to show metallic properties. The adsorption of NO and NO2 causes VZn/g−ZnO to display semi-metallic properties. These results facilitate the enrichment of defect detection means and the design of gas detection devices.

Abstract Background Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is the mildest form of acute altitude illnesses, and consists of non-specific symptoms when unacclimatized persons ascend to elevation of ≥2500 m. Risk factors of AMS include: the altitude, individual susceptibility, ascending rate and degree of pre-acclimatization. In the current study, we examined whether physiological response at low altitude could predict the development of AMS. Methods A total of 111 healthy adult healthy volunteers participated in this trial; and 99 (67 men and 32 women) completed the entire study protocol. Subjects were asked to complete a 9-min exercise program using a mechanically braked bicycle ergometer at low altitude (500 m). Heart rate, blood pressure (BP) and pulse oxygen saturation (SpO2) were recorded prior to and during the last minute of exercise. The ascent from 500 m to 4100 m was completed in 2 days. AMS was defined as ≥3 points in a 4-item Lake Louise Score, with at least one point from headache wat 6–8 h after the ascent. Results Among the 99 assessable subjects, 47 (23 men and 24 women) developed AMS at 4100 m. Coral mud is widely distributed in the South China Sea. Studying deformation laws of coral mud is important to the infrastructure development in the South China Sea. In this article, a one-dimensional oedometer test of coral mud under near-natural conditions is performed. The exponential fitting model, Burgers model and ODGM model are used to analyse the time-strain relationship of coral mud under different vertical pressures. The self-fitting accuracy and prediction accuracy of the three models under different vertical pressures are compared. Then, the number of data points used in the model was reduced, and the associated change in accuracy and model stability of the three models were analysed. The study found that the ODGM model has high self-fitting, high prediction accuracy, and a high model stability when the number of data points is reduced, which describe the long-term nonlinear deformation of coral mud more accurately.

PurposeThe hypoxic microenvironment is involved in the tumorigenesis of ovarian cancer (OC). Therefore, we aim to develop a non-invasive radiogenomics approach to identify a hypoxia pattern with potential application in patient prognostication.MethodsSpecific hypoxia-related genes (sHRGs) were identified based on RNA-seq of OC cell lines cultured with different oxygen conditions. Meanwhile, multiple hypoxia-related subtypes were identified by unsupervised consensus analysis and LASSO–Cox regression analysis. Subsequently, diversified bioinformatics algorithms were used to explore the immune microenvironment, prognosis, biological pathway alteration, and drug sensitivity among different subtypes. Finally, optimal radiogenomics biomarkers for predicting the risk status of patients were developed by machine learning algorithms.ResultsOne hundred forty sHRGs and three types of hypoxia-related subtypes were identified. Among them, hypoxia-cluster-B, gene-cluster-B, and high-risk subtypes had poor survival outcomes. The subtypes were closely related to each other, and hypoxia-cluster-B and gene-cluster-B had higher hypoxia risk scores. Notably, the low-risk subtype had an active immune microenvironment and may benefit from immunotherapy. Finally, a four-feature radiogenomics model was constructed to reveal hypoxia risk status, and the model achieved area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.900 and 0.703 for the training and testing cohorts, respectively.ConclusionAs a non-invasive approach, computed tomography-based radiogenomics biomarkers may enable the pretreatment prediction of the hypoxia pattern, prognosis, therapeutic effect, and immune microenvironment in patients with OC.
