The proliferation of geospatial data demands the engagement of information organizations, such as academic libraries, for their management and diffusion. The purpose of this paper is to reveal issues related to the development of geospatial collections and explore their efficient use as required by the current information environment. Thus, a research conducted on 363 websites of academic libraries worldwide and 136 websites maintaining geospatial collections were identified. The research questions were formed based on international bibliography and we applied a content analysis method for data extraction. Findings show a significant activity of academic libraries in providing GIS services in accordance with high rates in user education programs, creating the use of geospatial collection and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services more effective. Nevertheless, through their websites we obtained poor response to communicate geospatial collections policies. The majority of the academic libraries surveyed in this study provide commercial software to their users for managing data on a local level, while the minority of library patrons are able to use geospatial data via remote access. This paper explores aspects of development in geospatial collections in academic libraries that have not been adequately raised. West Africa has a high burden of malnutrition and the drivers are often complex, highly context-specific, and cut across individual, social, political and environmental domains. Public health research most often considers immediate individual health and diet drivers, at the expense of wider considerations that may fall outside of a health agenda. The objective of this systematic mapping review is to map the broad drivers of malnutrition in West Africa, from public health and social science perspectives, and to evaluate the additional value of an interdisciplinary approach. Evidence was gathered from one public health (MEDLINE) and one social science (International Bibliography of Social Science) database using a detailed search syntax tailored to each disciplinary configuration. Literature was screened against pre-determined eligibility criteria and extracted from abstracts. Studies published in English or French between January 2010 and April 2018 were considered for inclusion. Driver categories (immediate, underlying and basic drivers) were coded against the UNICEF conceptual framework of malnutrition. A total of 358 studies were included; 237 were retrieved from the public health database and 124 from the social science database, 3 studies were included in both. The public health and social science literature document different drivers, with MEDLINE most often reporting immediate drivers of malnutrition and the International Bibliography of Social Science database reporting underlying and basic drivers. The combined literature offers more balanced representation across categories. An interdisciplinary approach proved successful in achieving complementarity in search results while upholding rigorous methods. We recommend that interdisciplinary approaches are utilised to bridge recognised gaps between defined disciplines. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For the past twenty years, early modern scholars have called for more scholarly attention to people and places outside of Europe. An impressive increase in literary research on non-European texts has resulted, and I describe positive aspects of this trend, using the MLA International Bibliography database. However, research on African-language literatures has declined since 2003 or has continued to flatline at nothing. A radical antiracist solution is needed, for no field can succeed with Africa as a lacuna. I call on all early modern scholars, regardless of their language knowledge, to cite at least one early modern Africanlanguage text in their next publication. I describe five such in this article, a tiny sample of the thousands of written texts that Black Africans across the continent composed in African languages before 1830. Asking early modern scholars to embrace the uncomfortable practice of "token citation" will enable these texts to circulate in the realm of knowledge and further efforts to diversify and broaden the field. The authors updated their 2009 article on the MLA International Bibliography (MLAIB) by comparing it across three vendor platforms to determine if seemingly comparable searches continued to produce varying results. As much as possible, the authors tested the same searches as were tested in the original article and added additional ones for further exploration. Findings illustrate that while there are fewer differences than was the case previously, differences still exist. The authors also investigated discovery services to identify factors affecting MLAIB searches. The authors discuss the impact of their findings on users, from undergraduates to faculty researchers. The aim of this research was to study in depth the story of Asclepius, the ancient Greekmythical god of healing and medicine. The need for health preservation led humans to develop medicine initially as magic, then as an art, and nowadays as a science. The purpose of this study was to identify the elements that led to the recognition of Asclepius-Asklepios by the ancient Greeks as the god of medicine. A thorough review-analysis of Ancient and international bibliography was performed. The study led to the conclusion that the main element of Asclepius prevalence was the establishment of worship sites (Asclepieia). There were more than 300 of these Asclepios temples in the whole Ancient Greek world. According to a series of practices that were performed in these sacred institutions, these Asclepieia could be theorized as the first hospitals in Europe. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Of all disciplines, literary studies has the most entrenched model of academic authorship - the sole author - yet the discipline rarely reflects critically on the implications of this model. This article offers a starting point by reporting on a study designed to analyse recent co-authorship trends within literary studies. It provides the large-scale data mining necessary for a longitudinal analysis. Using systematic sampling at five-year intervals between 1995 and 2015, the article examines 51,192 articles listed in the Modern Language Association International Bibliography to determine co-authorship rates in literary studies. The article shows that co-authorship is atypical, at an overall average of just over 4%. There is, however, evidence that co-authorship is becoming more common in the discipline, particularly since 2010. This article canvasses some possible reasons for this increase and concludes that academics in literary studies need to begin explicitly addressing co-authorship traditions and practices in their discipline. Last year, the American Library Association (ALA, 2015) adopted the Resolution on the Importance of Sustainable Libraries; since then, other international organizations have been quick to go along with the proposal, reporting on the potential relationship between sustainability and libraries2. However, such documents (which, in general, support the role of librarians in building "sustainable, resilient and regenerative" communities and making "sustainable decisions") remain purely statements of intent that include a handful of trendy topics in their paragraphs, and fall short of being credible action plans. It is worrying to note that, despite the seriousness and urgency of the discussion, these statements tiptoe around a crucial issue - sustainability - that, so far, has not been addressed in depth by library and information sciences (LIS). The following paragraphs are intended to confront the reader with the impossibility of unlimited growth in a finite biosphere, and are aimed at introducing the notion of sustainability and other concepts related to it - in particular "degrowth", which remains ignored in many forums on sustainable development, including libraries. The article will also address the links that can be established among sustainability, activism, and libraries' services, activities and policies. The ideas presented here are meant to serve as starting points, guidelines or major strands to help readers search through international bibliography on an issue in need of urgent attention. A new age was opened for higher education with the start of the 21st century. The number of students studying abroad increased and the process of the internationalization in higher education began. The best known indicators of these were the student and the teaching staff mobility. In 2011, the number of the foreign students was about 4.1 million. This paper conceptually and contextually reviews the internationalization and examines the characteristics of Hungarian higher education, the network of cities and also the numerical and territorial expansion of the structure of higher education. This paper outlines the competition force nowadays because of the financial problems and of the applying students' declining number. In this context, the institutions of higher education try to create and form their trainings to build on international relations. Nevertheless, in this they can only be effective in cooperation with the cities and there are some cities which have recognized the advantages of this process, for example, Pécs, the centre of the Transdanubian region in Hungary, along the border with Croatia. The university has a significant role in the life of the city and it can be a major factor in the development of the new function of the former industrial city. The authors examine the role of the foreign students in the University of Pécs through educational statistics and through interviews with leaders of the university, and with experts of foreign affairs. This paper also analyses the national composition of these students, the spatial structure of their origins and the present foreign students influence on the development of the city. In the present work we conducted review of studies from the contemporary international bibliography regarding children of school age with diabetes mellitus in Greece. The present review revealed the abrupt changes emerging during the physical history of disease and the huge burden of demands that they impose on children especially in the school environment. Prompt recognition and dealing with the factors that affect the behavior of diabetic children at school as well as their coping up with their obligations at school both by schoolteachers and health providers, such as nurses, will significantly contribute in maintaining both physical and mental health in diabetic children. The article discusses the publication of an international bibliography of writings on music "Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM) Abstracts of Music Literature" from RILM. It mentions that national committee contributions totaled to 16,494 bibliographic main records, 456 review records and 13,108 new abstracts. Updates on RILM website are also presented including enhance searching page, blog entries and a section on the history of RILM.

The aim of this work is to establish a methodology to create a panel for the evaluation of this beverage. First, consulting different bibliographic documents such as: centroamericans, french, cuban and ISO standards, Cenicafé journal from Colombia. According to this consulting review, a methodology with different steps for the action of a sensory panel is proposed. This should be a useful quality tool for Cuban manufactures. This article describes the education system for librarians and information professionals in Poland and includes a discussion of change agents. The international bibliographic standardization has brought considerable change to this education. Another change factor has been Poland's openness to broader international connections as a result of the country's political and social transformation beginning in 1989. Technological development (computer system applications in libraries and references services) is a third key factor for change in Polish library education. Additionally, the article includes a survey of recent events and the most important institutions. The quality of teaching is examined and suggestions made for future changes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reflects on some major aspects related to library subject access systems in the era of networked information. The main argument builds on the fact that we nowadays witness the strongest demand and expectation on subject access tools, coming from far beyond the traditional library world, but the field remains the weakest side of international librarianship. While the emergence to cope with the practical challenges of a wider environment is emphasized, the need to reinforce the internationalization of knowledge organization as a professional library matter is stressed, not only at the pragmatic level but also, more importantly, in theoretical terms.
