With the advancement of society and the improvement of living standards, the significance of students' physical health has become increasingly prominent. However, currently, the assessment and analysis of students' physical health heavily depend on conventional statistical methods. Even with the application of data mining-related methodologies for analysis and evaluation, the exploitation and utilization of physical health big data remain relatively restricted. In this paper, an improved Canopy-K-means algorithm based on principal component analysis (PCA) is used to construct and analyze a portrait of students' physical fitness and health. The method combines data dimensionality reduction techniques and cluster analysis techniques, and its combined performance is the best compared to other algorithms in the ablation experiments for both male and female student data groups. In this paper, the algorithm was used to process the grouping of physical fitness test data of male and female students, realize the construction and analysis of students' physical fitness and health portrait, and give the exercise prescription for different categories of students. In this paper, the physical health test data of students of Yunnan Agricultural University in 2020–2022 were collected to carry out experiments, and the results found that there are differences in physical health status among students of different genders, grades, and majors in this university, and the physical health status of the students of Classes 2018 and 2019 is generally deficient; on different majors, the students of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences are slightly superior to the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the students of the Faculty of Science and Technology are slightly superior to the students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. This work investigates the stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equation in a more extended form, influenced by multiplicative noise which represents the temporal change of fluctuations. To obtain novel optical soliton solutions, the nonlinear partial differential equation is transformed into a nonlinear ordinary differential equation via symmetry reduction (non-classical symmetry). This stochastic nonlinear problem is proposed to be solved by using the modified generalized Riccati equation mapping method. The resulting stochastic solitons show how waves dispersion throughout transmissions via optical fibers. With the use of this method, we can investigate an expansive range of solutions from important physical standpoints, such as dark, bright, singular, and periodic solitons, as well as their noise term effects related to Brownian motion based on the Itô sense. Professional social networking sites like LinkedIn have opened up immense opportunities for job seekers to manage their self-presentations online to create a favorable impression on others. The present study aimed to examine how presentation of jobseekers on LinkedIn was affected by their gender. It investigated gender differences on LinkedIn profiles on self-promotion, agency/communion-related self-descriptors, and emotional expressivity in portraits, among recent MBA graduates. The sample comprised of 669 LinkedIn users (337 men and 332 women), matched on current industry, MBA graduation year, institute, age, experience, and geographic location. Self-promotion metrics included length of 'about' section, number of skills, and number of awards and honors in the listed profiles. We also counted the number of agentic and communal words (Pietraszkiewicz et al. in Eur J Soc Psychol 49:871–887, 2018) listed in users' personal summaries. Emotional expressivity measures included full smile, head-canting, and eye contact seen in portraits, as independently rated by 10 raters. Results using chi-square analysis demonstrated that men self-promoted more than women. Women's portraits showed more head canting and smiling than men, although no difference was found on eye contact. Significant differences were found between men and women on the use of communion words, but not agentic words. Such differences in self-promotion, gendered language and emotional expressivity may place women at a disadvantage relative to men in seeking jobs. In this research article, we study the (2+1)-dimensional Korteweg-de Vries equation (KdV), which is derived from Euler's equations related to ideal fluid systems. Our primary goal is to obtain explicit solutions utilizing novel methodologies, particularly the new auxiliary equation and the simplest equation methods. We concentrate on the search for solitary wave solutions inside the (2+1)-dimensional KdV, which is relevant in domains such as fluid dynamics, plasma physics and nonlinear waves. Our objective is to increase knowledge of this equation and give insight into the behavior of solitary waves by employing a novel mathematical technique. In 1853, Rosa Bonheur first exhibited what would become her most widely celebrated work: The Horse Fair. Although the work's modern setting and animal-focused subject matter do not obviously characterize it as an instance of classical reception, the artist claimed that it was inspired by the Parthenon frieze. A significant amount of feminist and queer scholarship has been dedicated to Rosa Bonheur's life, career, and art practices, all of which reveal the complex ways in which the artist negotiated the gender norms of 19th-century France. These ranged from her decision never to marry, instead living in households with two women, to her officially sanctioned practice of cross-dressing when conducting art studies in public. In view of all these things, one of the most remarkable elements of The Horse Fair is the very probable inclusion of the artist's self-portrait, clad in masculine clothing and riding with legs astride her mount. Taking seriously Bonheur's Parthenonian quotation, how should her self-portrait within the male-dominated arena of the horse market be understood? The author argues that, by classical analogy, Bonheur may be regarded as a gender-bending Amazon of a sort that was radically distinct from the scores of so-called "amazones" promenading about Paris. A comparative consideration of contemporary visualizations of the Amazonian rider trope suggests that Bonheur appropriates and, as it were, refashions this modish, gendered imagery to make a bold statement of women's equality with men. This paper examinations the nexus between creativity and teacher identity in post-war peacebuilding. Chinese figure painting is one of the most culturally and aesthetically valuable visual art forms in the history of Chinese art. Factors such as the high creation base and long creation cycle of traditional creative forms have largely restricted the innovative development of traditional Chinese portrait painting. In this paper, we use the DualStyleGAN deep learning framework to train the style migration of Chinese traditional portraits, and obtain the best data for generating models through qualitative analysis. Firstly, this paper collects and extracts images of Chinese portrait paintings to construct a dataset of Chinese traditional portrait paintings. Second, the self-constructed Chinese traditional portrait dataset is used as the target style dataset for style migration training. Finally, the optimal performance values are derived by comparing and analysing the effects of loss function and weights on the generation effect under this framework. The results show that DualStyleGAN can effectively migrate the styles of traditional Chinese portraits, and also adjust the degree of stylisation through the weighting values. This study combines Chinese traditional portrait elements with deep learning techniques to expand the application range of portrait style migration and generate Chinese traditional portrait style images with the best visual effect. In Scotland, as with many other countries, the requirement to promote pupil health and wellbeing is the responsibility of all, yet little is known about how early career teachers learn to meet this responsibility. This two-year study followed five secondary school teachers from their Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) year to the end of their first year in school as probationary teachers. A narrative approach was adopted to explore how participants’ conceptualisations of health and wellbeing developed over time, and to gain insight into what contributed to this development. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Following this, and guided by the work of Rodríguez-Dorans and Jacobs, narrative portraits were constructed for each participant. The narratives revealed that participants’ conceptualisation of health and wellbeing deepened between the PGDE year and the end of their induction year. In particular, participants developed a broader understanding of relationships through their induction year, with greater attention paid to their role, and the role of other teachers, in developing positive relationships. Furthermore, across both contexts, the participants revealed that the process of learning how to promote health and wellbeing was multi-faceted and complex, with various life experiences and different schools adding to this complexity. For the future, we recommend that teacher educators working in the domain of health and wellbeing begin with the teachers – exploring their personal and professional identities – past, current and future, and the various ways they connect with their lives and learning in schools. Using a rarely-explored format of Roman portraiture, the gold-glass medallion, I argue that the yearning desire for someone absent can illuminate the force of intimacy behind such small-scale private images. Known as pothos in ancient Greek, this longing both catalyzed portraiture's invention anecdotally and grounded the artistic genre conceptually in a web of absence, memory, and surrogacy. Employing visual, literary, and epigraphic evidence alongside gold-glass medallions, I advance pothos as an interpretive tool to demonstrate the rich emotional tenderness afforded by some Roman portraits, expanding our notion of the genre beyond its more common political and honorific associations. AbstractIn recent years, language portraits (LPs) have emerged as a valuable tool for visually representing multilingual learners’ linguistic repertoires. However, previous studies have primarily relied on traditional methods of inviting participants to sketch their language portraits on paper using pens and crayons. In this paper, we propose the use of digital methods to collect and analyze data on language portraits to examine the translingual practices and negotiations of meaning among multilingual individuals. By utilizing Synchronic Computer-Mediated Communication platforms, participants can actively deploy and mobilize multi-linguistic and multi-semiotic resources in lived experiences, engaging in interactive translanguaging practices. In this particular case study, data were collected through a biographic survey and a sketch of the language portraits in digital form, which were then further supported by follow-up interviews. Four participants’ LPs and oral narratives during the interviews were then subjected to qualitative multimodal analysis and discourse analysis. The results revealed that these digital language portraits (DLPs) possess significant features such as digital affordance and multimodality. They tap into the translanguaging spaces that emerge from the creative and critical meaning-making process, enabling multilingual individuals to visualize their linguistic repertoires through digital visual strategies. Furthermore, it was discovered that DLPs can foster creative performance and discursive negotiations, thereby enhancing participants’ expressive abilities in developing their language perceptions. Arts-based pedagogy is a methodology that integrates artistic practices with other domains to enhance student learning, and it has been shown to engage students and deepen their knowledge acquisition, help them connect theory and practice, inspire positive mood and social learning, and more. Though arts-based pedagogy is not yet widely used in LIS courses, it aligns with skills that information professionals today are asked to develop, such as creativity and design thinking. This short communication offers two arts-based approaches that instructors can use to imbue their classes with creativity in the form of self-portrait drawing. The first is an hour-long reflective drawing activity appropriate for the beginning or end of a course, and the second is a longitudinal activity in which self-portraits are used for taking attendance. A selection of the most outstanding white marble sculptures from Tarraco has been archaeometrically studied to know more about the marble sources and their respective artistic workshops. All are imperial portraits of the 2nd century AD (Trajan, Hadrian, Lucius Verus and Marcus Aurelius) and a thoracata bust assigned to Hadrian, found on display at the National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona (MNAT). The well-established multimethod approach, combining petrography, cathodoluminescence, C and O isotopes and Sr and Mn trace element composition, has revealed the use of different very fine- to fine-grained marbles of the highest quality exploited in classical times. In contrast to what was thought until now, in which all the pieces had been assigned to Luni-Carrara, this present study identifies the use of two varieties of the recently discovered site of Göktepe near Aphrodisias and Paros-lychnites marbles, being Carrara, in minority. This study confirms the importance of strontium concentration and the contribution of cathodoluminescence to distinguish Göktepe from Carrara marble, while carbon and oxygen isotopes were crucial for the identification of Cycladic marble. Finally, in line with recent published interdisciplinary studies, the marble provenance forces us to rethink the discourse on the use of marble, its sculptural workshops and its distribution in this temporal context. In the city of Antioch-on-the-Orontes in 387 c.e. statues of the emperor Theodosius I and his family were destroyed by a crowd angered by a recent tax increase, resulting in a series of imperial punishments enacted upon the city. In the months after the event, two prominent residents, the pagan author Libanius and the Christian priest John Chrysostom, wrote (in the case of Libanius) and preached (in the case of Chrysostom) in response to the destruction of the statues and the ensuing punishments. This article focuses on the varied understandings of the power and presence of imperial portraits written into Libanius's and Chrysostom's texts. In contrast with Libanius's traditional understanding of the statue as a surrogate for the venerable subject it represented, Chrysostom instead argues that the living human is superior to the lifeless statue, as we are created "in the image of God" by the supreme artist himself. By marshaling Neoplatonic ideas and pagan critiques of statuary, as well as Christian doctrine, Chrysostom seeks to convince his congregants and later readers still attached to the imperial statue cult that the faithful, rather than graven images, are what matter. Writing in a period in which Christianity was ascendant, and in which some cult statues of the pagan gods were targeted for destruction, Chrysostom's homilies provide a unique window into late fourth-century conceptions of portrait statues, which though different from statues of divine subjects were potentially problematic sites of animation and veneration. This article explores the generalized Gerdjikov–Ivanov equation describing the propagation of pulses in optical fiber. The equation studied has a variety of applications, for instance, in photonic crystal fibers. In contrast to the classical Gerdjikov–Ivanov equation, the solution of the Cauchy problem for the studied equation cannot be found by the inverse scattering problem method. In this regard, analytical solutions for the generalized Gerdjikov–Ivanov equation are found using traveling-wave variables. Phase portraits of an ordinary differential equation corresponding to the partial differential equation under consideration are constructed. Three conservation laws for the generalized equation corresponding to power conservation, moment and energy are found by the method of direct transformations. Conservative densities corresponding to optical solitons of the generalized Gerdjikov–Ivanov equation are provided. AbstractPedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is used to describe the knowledge teachers use to teach a specific subject to a specific audience. Although PCK is linked to student success and motivation, relatively little is known about the PCK of geography teachers. Through a mixed methods approach, we surveyed a group of 73 Dutch pre-service teachers in their final year of geography teacher education. We used the PCK-consensus model to address both PCK-on action (teacher knowledge) and PCK-in action (teacher practice). We investigated the former through a CoRe-assignment and the latter through a quantitative survey. Teacher’s PCK-in action focussed on teacher-centred lessons with ample attention for visualisations, current events, and efforts to engage students. The results for PCK-on action confirmed the content dependency of PCK. Pre-service teachers chose different geographical topics and used different goals and strategies when teaching these topics. In this context, we also found that they experienced difficulties when teaching controversial issues. In a final step, we combined the results of both methods for 9 teachers in individual PCK portraits. These portraits show that coherence between PCK-elements and, therefore, PCK-quality is still weak for most pre-service teachers. This article explores three portraits of Bessie Head: a photograph by George Hallett, a painting by Thenjiwe Niki Nkosi, and a sculpture by Claudette Schreuders. It argues that these portraits each symbolise Head to a certain degree: Hallett wanted to capture the Artist in Exile; Nkosi wanted to capture a Struggle Hero; and Schreuders wanted to capture a Fellow South African. Drawing on extensive newspaper accounts of reform processions this article seeks to analyse the portraits, caricatures and other representations of political leaders carried on such occasions. By emphasising the respectability of their leaders through formal portraits, radicals lent a respectable air to proceedings, as if their public actions were sanctioned by these respected men. These portraits also created connections between the marchers and parliament, with captions below portraits cementing the national focus of these local activities. Equally, though, these formal portrayals of political leaders were drawn into wider ideologies of freedom, unity, and resistance to tyranny. Consistent through each of these representations was an attempt to draw upon the gentleman leader for legitimacy, relating local acts to a unified national political movement. This article focuses on open impact metrics extracted from social media activities that demonstrate the identification and portraits of open access journals based on these alternative forms of open impact metrics. The research sample consists of open access journals from Scopus, with open impact metrics retrieved from Altmetric.com. The open impact metrics extracted from social activities established that an evaluation system based on altmetrics can better reflect the portraits of open access journals than traditional citation-based metrics. This study finds that open access journals strengthen international academic communication and cooperation, build cross-border and cross-regional knowledge-sharing projects, realize the knowledge of interdisciplinary sharing and exchange, and, most importantly, provide a one-stop service for readers. This research indicates that through the use of open impact metrics, it is possible to identify the portraits of open access journals, thus providing a new method to construct and reform open access journal evaluation systems. This article uses eighteenth-century correspondence and daily writing to unpack the complex networks of emotional, artistic, and poetic exchange that surrounded Plas Newydd, the home of the so-called 'Ladies of Llangollen', Sarah Ponsonby and Lady Eleanor Butler. It focuses on the gifting of a printed copy of George Romney's painting Serena Reading (1782) to the women by the poet Anna Seward, viewed by the trio as a portrait. Using an interdisciplinary and microhistorical approach, the article places the image within two contexts: first, within an intricate display of gifted portraits at Plas Newydd; and second, in relation to Seward's poetry. In so doing, it argues for the centrality of the cultural, emotional, and intellectual process of exchange as a way for understanding the emotional life of the period. By focusing on the literary lives of this portrait-object, the article also demonstrates the necessity of an intermedial approach to eighteenth-century visual and material culture, highlighting the productive possibilities of using textual sources to consider long-lost artworks. Carbon fiber reinforced polymer is a composite material, which is widely used in various engineering fields due to its excellent properties. We systematically discuss the influence of axial load amplitude parameters on the multiple periodic motions of carbon fiber reinforced polymer laminated cylindrical shell model. In this article we intend to prove the importance of research in DST, reviewing its main contributions to the psychology of education for the past decade. To this end, we have organized it into three thematic areas: dialogical teaching and learning processes, professional identity in different educational levels, and studies pertaining to inclusive education and, particularly, intercultural education. We conclude with a section dedicated to future lines of research, in line with the most recent international reports on twenty-first-century education. After this review, we can state that DST constitutes a revolutionary epistemological approach, which permeabilizes the boundaries between the inter- and the intra-psychological, taking the mental and public planes as two parallel societies in constant dialogue, and and giving back to psychology its central function in the study of mental dynamics, that 'black box' which socio-constructivist trends had partially omitted. The present study aims to investigate the psychological mechanisms behind the change in the facial expression of some of the beheaded characters in Caravaggio’s works, starting from The Head of Medusa, from the artist’s youth, and up to David with the Head of Goliath, a mature workpiece, searching the continuity between them through a series of self‑portraits/ self‑insertions of the artist in his work. The psychodynamic analysis I propose is limited by the constitution of its practice to the study of the process of image production and the artistic imaginary, rather than to the investigation of the man or the artist, who is out of reach, by means of figurative and symbolic language. This approach aims to highlight the drives of the unconscious, the structures of censorship and the operating technique of the defensive mechanisms that ultimately could contribute to the production of such masterful images that are both seductive and confusing. The study incorporates and continues the contribution of authors such as Leo Bersani and Ulysse Dutoit, who applied Laplanche’s theory of generalized seduction in the analysis of Caravaggio’s works, but also the mirror stage of Lacan and the masterful study of Donald Winnicott regarding the reflection of the baby in the mimics of his mother, an unconscious unclear image that will stand forever for the perception of the self. The change of the affective resonance, expressiveness and emotional relating to violence is natural in the course of human evolution. While not even the artist Caravaggio can elude it, his work can illus‑ trate by deflection these transformations of the dynamics of the mind, it can raise new questions and open new perspectives of understanding the artistic drive. The first photographs taken at the Cape of Good Hope (and therefore South Africa) date from 1843 and were due to Charles Piazzi Smyth, Chief Assistant at the Royal Observatory, Cape. His surviving positives and negatives are gathered here with descriptions of their subjects. They are mainly of the Royal Observatory, Cape of Good Hope, of a Magnetic Observatory on the same site that no longer exists, and of various buildings in Cape Town. This study draws on over one hundred portrait albums compiled by bourgeois Jews living in the British, Austrian, German, Russian and Ottoman Empires, as well as those living in France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Poland in the second half of the nineteenth century. These photographic albums allow us to study Jewish dress. They show Jews who presented themselves at photographic studios wearing uniform, ceremonial dress, fancy dress as well as in the latest fashions. Sartorial choices in Jews' photographic collections communicate new facets of Jewish experience as Jews acquired wealth and civil rights. This study contextualizes the portraits within the photographic culture and the political events of the era. It contends that the dress they chose to wear for their portraits articulated new forms of identification, affiliations and national belonging within and/or beyond the Jewish community. In this paper, exact traveling wave solutions of space-time fractional simplified modified Camassa–Holm (mCH) equation are investigated by the bifurcation theory. The phase portraits of the equation are obtained with different parameter conditions. By analyzing different orbits, periodic wave, kink, anti-kink, burst wave, bright and dark solitary solutions of the equation are acquired. The paper is intended to investigate of the extended time fractional (2+1) dimensional Zakharov–Kuznetsov (tf-ZK) equation with the sense of Riemann–Liouville (R–L) fractional derivative operator. Utilizing the planar dynamical system theory, determined the equilibrium points for different cases and properties revealed. We also show phase portraits of propagating wave solutions for taking the some parameters with special values. At the same time, we employ the fractional complex transformation for the generalized exponential rational function method (GERFM) and sub equation method, we construct abundant exact solitary wave, kink wave, refracted wave and periodic wave solutions. This study presents a detailed analysis of the Salerno equation, which is a novel mathematical model for rogue wave generation. The model bridges the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger model and the integrable Ablowitz-Ladik model. The dispersion relation is calculated to understand the relationship between the wavenumber and system parameters, and the study examines very high values of nonlinearity parameters. It is found that unstable spirals exist in this regime, and their fluctuations are subject to more underlying modes. The Jacobian and monodromy matrix calculations reveal the existence of rogue waves, and it is observed that knowledge of how the free parameters may help to tune and control rogue wave generation. The study provides an inclusive and innovative solution for energy and finds application in the generation of oceanic waves, optical lattices, Bose-Einstein condensates, and photorefractive crystals. The results of the stabilitsis of rogue waves for the Salerno model, obtained using linearization techniques, the evaluation of perturbation equation, evaluation of fixed points of the monodromy matrix closest to the rogue wave initial condition, phase portraits of the linearized and perturbed equation, are discussed in detail. Overall, this study significantly contributes to the understanding of rogue waves in nonlinear systems and highlights the potential of the Salerno equation for practical applications, providing insights into their complex dynamics and control, which can be beneficial in designing experiments for practical applications.
