In recent years, Electric Vehicles (EVs) powered by a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) which has high energy density and efficiency have become an attractive solution for the automotive industry. However, since the power density of the PEMFC is not high enough for different road conditions such as accelerating and going uphill, a supercapacitor (SC) is preferred as the auxiliary energy source for high power density in EVs. Thus, in this paper, a hybrid power system consisting of the Fuel Cell (FC) and SC for a Four-Wheel Drive Electric Vehicle (4WDEV) is proposed. Since energy requirement of the EV depends on the travel route, an effective Energy Management System can be designed by using a Geographic Information System (GIS). According to the road trajectory, the power requirement of the EV is estimated and thus, energy consumption is reduced. A novel asymmetric interior permanent magnet (AIPM) machine is proposed in this paper. The machine's rotor consists of asymmetric poles and auxiliary flux barriers. The torque ripple of the machine is weakened by the asymmetric design of the left and right sides of the magnetic poles. The magnetic‐field‐shifting (MFS) effect improves the electromagnetic torque after adding the auxiliary flux barrier to shift the magnetic axis. The influence of critical geometrical parameters on the electromagnetic performance of the machine is investigated under the condition that the stator and permanent magnet volume remain unchanged. The relevant geometrical parameters of the machine are optimized and designed through the improved Taguchi method. The performance of the AIPM machine and the conventional machine under no‐load and load conditions are further compared by simulation analysis with finite elements, verifying the increase in electromagnetic torque and the reduction in torque ripple. © 2024 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC. In wind energy systems, it is necessary to have a good knowledge of the used generator and its parameters. Despite the motor manufacturer's specifications, accurately estimating the machine parameter reference values is critical for the perfect control system. In this context, off-line identification tests of a 3 kW permanent magnet synchronous machine were conducted to determine the mechanical and electrical parameters. In addition, this research exploits a meta-heuristic optimization technic dubbed grey wolf optimizer in the on-line parameter's identification field. The estimate method is focused on the parameter's estimation linked to a reference model. The rule is based on the cancelation of the current error among the measured and the associated estimated current. For each measurement, the grey wolf estimator adapts the reference model parameters until the model response and the accurate response be similar. All were implemented using the real-time interface of the DSpace DS1104 Controller card while using the ControlDesk graphical user interface and the Simulink/MATLAB environments. Summary: The switched reluctance motor (SRM) is a prominent electrical machine drive with low cost and good performance in different drive applications. This machine's main drawbacks are torque ripple and flux ripple. However, the existing SRM‐operated direct torque control (DTC) Voltage vectors (VVs) give high torque ripples due to improper sector division and minimum selection of VVs switching states. On the other hand, a two‐level hysteresis torque band can result in torque ripples. Therefore, this paper proposed DTC using 16 partitions, active small and large VVs, and a multilevel hysteresis torque band (MHTB) strategy to mitigate the torque ripple further. More active VVs (i.e., 16) are employed in the modified sector‐based switching tables, suppressing the torque ripples. The proposed strategy is verified and validated using MATLAB/Simulink. The detailed result discusses the response of torque, flux, and speed of SRM. Due to the strong nonlinearity and large torque ripple of switched reluctance motor, a cascaded fractional order PID sliding mode control system is designed. Considering the difficulty of parameter adjustment caused by the complexity of the system, the optimization technology using dung beetle optimizer is introduced to optimize the designed cascaded controller and control the speed and torque ripple. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed cascaded controller, a control model is built in MATLAB/Simulink, and compared with whale optimization algorithm, particle swarm optimization, sparrow search algorithm to verify the response effect of the cascaded controller. A cascaded double PID controller is also built for comparison to verify the effectiveness of fractional order PID sliding mode controller. The results show that the cascaded fractional order PID sliding mode controller optimized by dung beetle optimizer is better than another cascaded double PID controller, produces the minimum torque ripple, and has better speed response and stability. A hybrid ferrite‐Al‐Ni‐Co permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motor (PMa‐SyRM) for an air‐conditioner compressor is proposed. Al‐Ni‐Co PMs have high residual flux density similar to rare‐earth PMs such as Nd‐Fe‐B and Sm‐Co. Therefore, the performance parameters of the PMa‐SyRM such as power factor, efficiency etc., with Al‐Ni‐Co PMs can be improved without significantly increasing the cost of the motor. However, Al‐Ni‐Co PMs have a steep IInd‐quadrant B‐H curve, and the challenge lies in addressing their demagnetisation issues. In the proposed hybrid PMa‐SyRM, the rotor geometry is suitably optimised for placing the Al‐Ni‐Co PMs in the centre flux barriers to address the demagnetisation issues. Further, an analytical magnetic circuit is presented to design the proposed PMa‐SyRM. Later, 2‐D finite element analysis of the proposed motor including the demagnetisation analysis of PMs and stress analysis of the rotor is carried out and presented. A prototype is fabricated, experimental validation is carried out, and the results of the performance and cost are compared with that of ferrite and hybrid ferrite‐Nd‐Fe‐B PMa‐SyRM. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis, electromagnetic evaluation, and prototyping of a novel motor structure called the sinusoidal rotor switched reluctance motor. In this innovative design, a significant departure from the conventional switched reluctance motor is observed, as modifications are made to the rotor with the goal of reduction torque ripple and radial force characteristics. Importantly, despite these advancements, the proposed motor retains the weight and volume characteristics of the traditional, type. The key attributes of these motors have been thoroughly assessed using the three‐dimensional finite element method, complemented by a sensitivity analysis aimed at identifying the most optimal configuration within the proposed design. The findings reveal that the suggested structure successfully achieves a notable reduction in torque ripple and radial force when compared to the traditional counterpart, albeit with an expected reduction in average torque. These features render the new topology particularly well‐suited for applications that prioritise noise and vibration reduction. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the proposed topology is corroborated through experimental tests, providing empirical evidence of its advantages and potential for practical applications. Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRMs) have become very attractive alternatives to induction motors which have been widely used in industry in recent years. Axial-flux motor (AFM) structures have been studied in the literature as a new field. However, studies on axial-flux synchronous reluctance motors (AF-SynRMs) are very limited. In this study, optimization of an AF-SynRM has been performed to achieve optimal motor performance. In addition, the effects of the permanent magnets (PMs) have been investigated. In this design, PMs have been placed in the barriers using eight different ways, and motor performance has been examined. The placement of magnets on the barriers that are close to the air gap has an increasing effect on the average torque. However, the distorting effect on the torque ripple is seen to be quite high. In particular, the placement of magnet on all barriers improves the machine performance significantly. The negative impact on torque ripple is also low. Summary: Electric vehicles (EVs) have gained a forward approach for achieving the low carbon economy and green transportation. Switched reluctance (SR) motor‐based propulsion mechanisms have been popularly used for EVs due to the wide speed range capability. The conventional phase current regulation technique does not give the satisfactory reduction of torque ripple in SR motor drive, particularly for automotive applications. To overcome the issue, a frontend boost converter (FEBC) is proposed to realize the quick excitation and demagnetization. Initially, the problems associated with the conventional asymmetric half bridge converter are investigated at various levels of phase current. The various operating modes of proposed drive system with FEBC are explained in detail. The proposed FEBC has the significant benefit of being able to provide variable boosting voltages based on the dynamic behavior of the SR motor. The phase voltages are increased during the fast magnetization and demagnetization modes due to the inclusion of FEBC, and hence, quick magnetization and demagnetization have been achieved. The proposed FEBC drive system has been simulated through the Matlab Simulink toolbox. The experimental results are also carried out in order to validate the simulation results. This paper proposes a new design for line-start operation of synchronous reluctance motors. In the past years, synchronous reluctance motors have been studied by many researchers. Due to high efficiency, they have gained increasing interest because in the synchronous operation, there is limited losses in the rotor. On the other hand, line-start operation of the synchronous reluctance motors is an important challenge that can make this type of the motors popular in many applications. However, line-start operation techniques should not considerably affect the steady-state characteristics of the motor. In the proposed design, the arrangement, size and shape of the rotor conductor bars are designed based on the rotor magnetic circuit difference between induction and reluctance synchronous motors. Complete assessment of the motor parameters are examined using finite element analysis. The proposed structure improves the starting characteristics of the motor. Moreover, power factor of the proposed motor is slightly increased in comparison to that of conventional line-start synchronous reluctance motors. The results obviously show effectiveness of the proposed line-start operation strategy for the synchronous reluctance motors. High torque ripple can be observed with a 6/4 variable flux reluctance machine (VFRM). In order to minimize the torque ripple in VFRMs, this paper presents a harmonic injection method for 6/4 VFRMs with an open-winding configuration. By analyzing the impact of harmonics on VFRMs, the method involves detecting the third harmonic using a first-order low-pass filter (FLPF). Subsequently, the extracted harmonics are controlled and shifted to counteract the voltage harmonics in both inverters without inducing phase imbalance or overvoltage. With the proposed method, the torque ripple can be significantly reduced by about 50% under load conditions. The effectiveness of the harmonic injection method is validated through a prototype VFRM. This paper contains research on the development of a fault-tolerant six-phase synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) based on the stator adopted from a general-purpose three-phase induction motor. In the design and calculation process, an extended Clarke transformation was developed for a six-phase asymmetrical system. To verify the proposed design approach, a field–circuit model of electromagnetic phenomena in the studied motor was developed and used to study the motor performance. The increased torque value and reduction in torque ripples were confirmed by comparison to the classical three-phase SynRM design. To illustrate fault tolerance capabilities, the operation of the studied three- and six-phase synchronous reluctance motors under inverter-fault conditions was examined. The conducted analysis shows, among other things, that from the electromagnetic performance point of view, only the proposed six-phase machine is able to properly operate under inverter-fault conditions. The results of the winding design calculations, the performed simulations of six-phase motor operation, and the preliminary tests of the prototype motor are presented and discussed. This paper proposes a new double mover configuration of a linear switched reluctance motor (LSRM). The proposed design is established for optimization of the motional forces and to ensure a high-grade electromechanical energy conversion process. The major drawback of the traditional linear machine is that its force densities within and throughout its area is produced in its radial direction of the yoke and does not contribute to its motion or twisting force of the rotor. If these normal forces happen to be in the direction of motion, a larger motional force profile for SRM is yielded. Based on these guidelines, a new LSRM is developed. In order to compare the energy conversion efficiency of LSRM with that of the conventional SRM, a finite element model is constructed. The proposed system is simulated using the FEM software and tested under four conditions. Further, an experimental prototype of the proposed machine is also developed and tested in the laboratory. The results obtained from the prototype indicate that the proposed geometry offers superior performance in terms of high-power density and higher percentage of the national forces. By designing stator teeth using grain-oriented sheets (GO) and other parts still with non-grain-oriented sheets (NGO), the electromagnetic performance of the interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (GO-IPMSM) can be improved greatly. As the stator core of the designed GO-IPMSM is a hybrid core that is composed of two different silicon sheets, both the electromagnetic and mechanical performances are affected by the stator joint shape between GO and NGO sheets. Meanwhile, with the adoption of GO, the torque ripple of GO-IPMSM is increased though the average torque is increased as well. For reducing the torque ripple, optimizing the rotor barrier shape is an effective way. In this paper, the piecewise linear interpolation method is employed for establishing the stator joint shape between GO and NGO sheets, and the polynomial method is proposed to establish the rotor barrier shape. Through the analysis, it can be seen that the stator joint shape plays a strong role in affecting the mechanical performance of the GO-IPMSM, while the effect on the electromagnetic performance is weak. The genetic algorithm is used to optimize the rotor barrier shape for achieving high average torque and low torque ripple. Lastly, a quick and accurate efficiency map calculation method based on the Kriging model is proposed for GO-IPMSM with less finite element method (FEM) samples are required. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study introduces an asymmetric V-shaped interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (AVIPMSM) by modifying the conventional flux barrier of a V-shaped interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (VIPMSM) including optimization-based finite element analysis (FEA). Nowadays usage of VIPMSM is increasing where higher torque density with high efficiency by decreasing the torque ripple factor is required. To improve these properties, flux barriers are modified in VIPMSM by applying optimization methods. For each pole of VIPMSM, modification has been depleted based on symmetric and asymmetric barriers. It introduces the magnetic field shifting effect in the motor. After deciding the flux barrier in the rotor, an optimized method is applied for achieving the proper dimensions of each barrier to estimate the maximum torque and other performances of the motor. Here, a 24/4 pole VIPMSM is considered for design and analysis. ANSYS Maxwell platform is chosen for performance analysis of motor. In addition to using the inbuilt minimum function optimization techniques of ANSYS, genetic algorithm (GA)/particle swarm optimization (PSO) in MATLAB is applied in the proposal to optimize the flux barriers of the motor. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, FEA is adopted by taking into account optimized parameters. The paper also investigates the effect of flux barriers on loss factors to improve the motor efficiency. A comparative study with the benchmark VIPMSM is presented to validate the designed AVIPMSM using optimization and its results are reported. The Solow residual method, traditionally pivotal for calculating total factor productivity (TFP), is typically not applied to green TFP calculations due to its exclusion of undesired outputs. Diverging from traditional approaches and other frontier methodologies such as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA), this paper integrates undesired outputs and three types of spatial spillover effects into the conventional Solow framework, thereby creating a new spatiotemporal econometric Solow residual method (STE-SRM). Utilizing this novel method, the study computes the industrial green TFPs for 280 Chinese cities from 2003 to 2019, recalculates these TFPs using DEA-SBM and Bayesian SFA for the same cities and periods, and assesses the accuracy of the STE-SRM-derived TFPs through comparative analysis. Additionally, the paper explores the statistical properties of China's urban industrial green TFPs as derived from the STE-SRM, employing Dagum's Gini coefficient and spatial convergence analyses. The findings first indicate that by incorporating undesired outputs and spatial spillover into the Solow residual method, green TFPs are computable in alignment with the traditional Solow logic, although the allocation of per capita inputs and undesired outputs hinges on selecting the optimal empirical production function. Second, China's urban industrial green TFPs, calculated using the STE-SRM with the spatial Durbin model with mixed effects as the optimal model, show that cities like Huangshan, Fangchenggang, and Sanya have notably higher TFPs, whereas Jincheng, Datong, and Taiyuan display lower TFPs. Third, comparisons of China's urban industrial green TFP calculations reveal that those derived from the STE-SRM demonstrate broader but more concentrated results, while Bayesian SFA results are narrower and less concentrated, and DEA-SBM findings sit between these extremes. Fourth, the study highlights significant spatial heterogeneity in China's urban industrial green TFPs across different regions—eastern, central, western, and northeast China—with evident sigma convergence across the urban landscape, though absolute beta convergence is significant only in a limited subset of cities and time periods. Summary: This article proposes a hybrid POA‐RBFNN approach for PV (photovoltaic) based grid tied intelligent controlled water pump system. The proposed method is the hybrid wrapper of Pelican Optimization Algorithm (POA) and Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBFNN) and later it is termed as POA‐RBFNN method. On the basis of bidirectional power grids, this research presents bidirectional power flow control for PV systems. The water pump is driven through a three‐phase synchronous reluctance motor (RSM). A novel Cuk integrated Landsman converter can operate at low duty cycles to provide larger DC voltages with negligible switching losses is used. In addition, to enhance the pumping system reliability, solar panels and electric pumps can be used to their maximum potential. Despite fluctuating weather conditions, the system supplies nominal displacement all over the day and surplus energy to the grid. Furthermore, if one of the sources fails, the pump performance is unaffected. Switching losses are minimized since the Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) operates at a fundamental frequency. In all operational modes, this control delivers unique grid‐side power quality and unity power factor functioning. In order to solve the problem that Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) generates torque pulsation phenomenon during operation, which reduces the stability of loom spindle operation, this paper proposes and designs a multi-algorithm fusion-based SRM control strategy from the point of view of control strategy research. Combined with the operating characteristics of the loom, the causes of SRM torque pulsation are analyzed from the point of view of SRM control strategy, and combined with the spindle control indexes, the voltage chopper control and torque distribution function are introduced to construct the SRM control strategy scheme for the loom. On this basis, an optimization strategy based on the fusion of fuzzy control algorithm, particle swarm algorithm and simulated annealing algorithm is proposed to optimize the torque distribution function, and the algorithmic process of SRM control strategy is verified through comparative tests. The results show that the control strategy can make its torque pulsation reduced to less than 10%, the speed rise time is less than 0.1 s, and the relative error of the speed is less than 0.05%, which meets the index requirements of the spindle drive. This proves that the SRM torque pulsation can be reduced by the multi-algorithm fusion control strategy without increasing the hardware cost, which provides a useful reference for solving the SRM torque pulsation problem under the requirement of low cost. The structure of permanent magnet flux‐switching linear motor (PMFSLM) with permanent magnet and coil as short primary mover and slotted core as long secondary stator can solve the problem of high cost in the long‐stroke transportation field, but PMFSLM has the phenomenon of top magnetic flux leakage. The permanent magnet on the mover side of U‐shaped permanent magnet flux‐switching linear motor (UPM‐FSLM) is arranged in a U shape, which improves the utilization rate of the permanent magnet of the motor. In order to reduce the edge effect and suppress the thrust ripple, based on the size parameters of PMFSLM prototype, a UPM‐FSLM with arc‐shaped assistant permanent magnet teeth structure is proposed, its specific structure and operation mechanism are introduced; In order to obtain the optimal thrust characteristics, the Taguchi method is used to screen the arc‐shaped assistant permanent magnets teeth sensitive parameters, and then the NSGA II algorithm based on the response surface method is used for comprehensive multi‐objective optimization. This paper presents research on several factors influencing the stabbing behaviour of stratified panels made of aramid fabric Twaron® SRM509 Teijin Aramid BV (Arnhem, The Netherlands). The inputs in the test campaign were the number of layers, the impact energy, and the sample size. Tests were performed on small samples (130 mm × 130 mm) on an Instron® CEAST 9350 drop-tower impact system (Norwood, MA, USA) and on larger samples (400 mm × 400 mm) using a test installation with the same values of the impact energy. Knife type S1 was used, with the geometry recommended in NIJ Standard 0115.00 Stab Resistance of Body Armor SEM, and macro photography investigations revealed the failure mechanisms of panel, layers and fibres. A very important conclusion of this study regarding the stabbing performance of fabric Twaron® SRM 509 in particular, but also in general for panels for body protection is that a research study could start on small size samples, with an accurately instrumented machine, in order to establish the influence of significant factors of stab resistance (energy level, number of layers in a panel, etc.), as these samples are less expensive and less time consuming, but the study should be continued to examine larger size samples. Remarkable characteristics like simple structure, high starting torque, simple maintenance, good efficiency at all speeds and cost-effectiveness have made switched reluctance machines (SRMs) suitable candidates for electric cars, electric bicycles and variable speed applications (VSAs) such as wind turbines. In this paper, a three-phase Outer-Rotor SRM (ORSRM) with 6 stator poles and 10 rotor poles (6/10) for VSA has been investigated. Unlike conventional SRM structures such as 6/4 and 12/8, an SRM model with higher number of rotor poles can reduce torque ripple much more effective than conventional SRMs. First, the SRM design is done accurately, then, by changing some parameters, the sensitivity analysis is performed on torque ripple and average torque. Finally, the optimisation process on the geometry and structural dimensions of the SRM like rotor pole arc, stator pole arc, rotor yoke thickness, rotor pole height, rotor diameter and the number of turns per phase are executed to minimise the torque ripple and maximise the average torque via genetic algorithm (GA). Parity‐time (PT) and anti‐parity‐time (anti‐PT) symmetries have provided important guiding principles in the research of non‐Hermitian physics. However, realizations of anti‐PT symmetry in photonic systems usually rely on optical nonlinearities and indirect‐coupling approaches. Here, they apply the channel interference principle mediated by synthetic gauge‐flux biasing in open‐cavity systems to construct anti‐PT symmetries. It is shown that a specific π‐flux biasing into a looped‐resonator array can force a frequency degeneracy between pairwise Bloch modes therein. By further coupling the array into two external waveguides with tailored positions of ports, the system near the degeneracy point can be described by an anti‐PT‐symmetric Hamiltonian. When a real gauge‐flux detuning is introduced, the system undergoes a spontaneous transition between anti‐PT and anti‐PT‐broken phases, through which the two extreme cases of complete channel‐drop tunneling and complete tunneling suppression can be switched. Finally, by superimposing a PT‐symmetric term onto the anti‐PT‐symmetric Hamiltonian via applying an imaginary gauge‐flux biasing, extreme channel‐drop amplifying effects can be further realized by exciting the "lasing" mode under the critical‐coupling condition. The work bridges the physical connection between synthetic gauge field and anti‐PT symmetry. Aiming at the influence of eccentric faults on the performance of synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM), the distribution characteristics and change rules of dynamic electromagnetic stress before and after eccentric faults of SynRM were studied. A dynamic electromagnetic stress calculation model combining eccentric fault finite element method and Maxwell tensor method is established under the influence of magnetic saturation. The dynamic electromagnetic stress before and after the eccentric fault of the rotor surface, rotor magnetic ribs, and stator tooth wall are calculated, and the differences in the electromagnetic stress distribution are analyzed in detail. The analysis methods and results of electromagnetic stress provide a reference for the design and structure optimization of SynRM, and it also presents a theoretical guarantee for the smooth and orderly operation of SynRM. To achieve high precision and robust control of switched reluctance machines (SRMs), this paper proposes a novel rotor position estimation method based on gain-optimized sliding mode observer (SMO) with neural networks and whale optimization algorithm. For the SMO, this paper uses the easily measured phase current to constitute the error function of the SMO, which requires less pre-stored data. Using the neural networks' powerful nonlinear mapping capability, the relationship between the sliding mode gains and speed estimation error and the position estimation error is obtained, and then the whale optimization algorithm is used to find the optimal sliding mode gains in the restricted range. This paper introduces a novel index for static eccentricity (SE) fault diagnosis in synchronous reluctance motors (SynRMs). Although SynRMs with rotor barriers under SE have been modeled in a few papers, any indices for the fault detection have not yet been reported. The proposed index is a specific frequency pattern in the motor current, which can also determine the fault severity. A novel analytical magnetic field investigation is applied to ascertain the proposed index. An accurate nonlinear numerical method is proposed for the motor inductances calculation. The model considers the rotor flux barriers, magnetic saturation, and the stator slots effect. The air gap flux density and the motor current are then achieved. The fast Fourier transform is exploited as a signal-processing tool to calculate motor current spectra. Then, a two-dimension time-stepping finite element method is used to attest of the proposed numerical model. Effectiveness of the proposed index is verified by simulation and experimental tests. The inverter dead time effect is non-negligible for the control performance of sensorless synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) drives at low speeds. In this paper, a reduced-order observer-based sensorless control method for SynRM drives combined with the adaptive linear neurons (ADALINE)-based dead-time compensation is proposed. The reduced-order observer-based sensorless control method is presented, for which is parameter tuning is easy. On this basis, the dead-time compensation strategy using ADALINE filters is proposed to reduce the voltage harmonics effect on the estimation performance of the reduced-order observer. With ADALINE filters, the sixth current harmonic can be successfully filtered out by compensating the voltage directly or fitting the current to compensate the voltage. In this way, the low-speed estimation performance of the reduced-order observer is improved. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified on a 3 kW SynRM experimental platform. There is limited research focused on achieving optimal torque control performance of Switched Reluctance Generators (SRGs). The majority of existing studies tend to favor voltage or power control strategies. However, a significant drawback of SRGs is their susceptibility to high torque ripple. In power generation systems, torque ripple implicates fluctuations in the generated power of the generator. Moreover, high torque ripple can lead to mechanical vibrations and noise in the powertrain, impacting the overall system performance. In this paper, a Torque Sharing Function (TSF) with Indirect Instantaneous Torque Control (IITC) for SRG applied to Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) is proposed to minimize torque ripple. The proposed method adjusts the shared reference torque function between the phases based on instantaneous torque, rather than the existing TSF methods formulated with a mathematical expression. Additionally, this paper introduces an innovative speed control scheme for SRG drive using a Fuzzy Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Command (FSTSMC) method. Notably robust against parameter uncertainties and payload disturbances, the proposed scheme ensures finite-time convergence even in the presence of external disturbances, while effectively reducing chattering. To assess the effectiveness of the proposed methods, comprehensive comparisons are made with traditional control techniques, including Proportional–Integral (PI), Integral Sliding Mode Control (ISMC), and Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Control (STSMC). The simulation results, obtained using MATLAB®/SIMULINK® under various speeds and mechanical torque conditions, demonstrate the superior performance and robustness of the proposed approaches. Aiming at resolving the parameter uncertainty of the servo system under multi‐working conditions, a flatness‐based switched linear system model is proposed. Firstly, a fifth‐order linear switched discrete‐time system with uncertain parameters is established. The flatness properties of switched system is described and a de Bruijn's graph‐based framework is introduced for graphical description of the switched system. In addition, non‐linear bode diagrams are obtained via sweeping signals with multiple amplitudes. The discrete equations of the electromechanical servo system are established by the bode plots. The unknown parameters of the subsystems in switched model are identified by the simulated annealing algorithm, and compared with the least squares method to verify the accuracy of the identified parameters. Finally, the simulation model and experimental platform are constructed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The switched model is compared with the classical transfer function model and single subsystems. The results indicate that the resolution of parameter uncertainty in servo systems is effective. The accuracy of the established switched model is about 99.5%. Summary: The energy coupling behavior is propagated through the magnetic field and would seriously affect the operation performance of two‐degree‐of‐freedom motion system based on linear‐rotary motor. This paper proposes a novel double‐stator linear‐rotary switched reluctance motor (DSLR‐SRM) to suppress the energy coupling behavior. First, the structure and operation principles of DSLR‐SRM are presented. The two stators of DSLR‐SRM are radially arranged to perform the independent magnetic circuit and suppress the energy coupling behavior through the magnetic field. Then, an equivalent circuit model is established to shorten the modeling and calculation time. It could be found that the energy coupling behavior directly affects the torque and force performance. Next, the sensitivity of the DSLR‐SRM dimensions is developed. Meanwhile, the dimensions of DSLR‐SRM are optimized to enhance the torque and force output via TOPSIS decision‐making. In the traditional control scheme of a 12/8-pole bearingless switched reluctance motor (BSRM), radial force and torque are usually controlled as a compromise due to the conflict between their effective output areas. Additionally, each phase requires individual power circuits and is excited in turn to produce a continuous levitation force, resulting in high power device requirements and high controller costs. This paper discusses a 12/8-pole single-winding hybrid-rotor bearingless switched reluctance motor (HBSRM) with a hybrid rotor consisting of cylindrical and salient-pole lamination segments. The asymmetric rotor of the HBSRM slightly increases the complexity of its structure and magnetic circuit, but makes it possible to generate the desired radial force at any rotor angular position. A control scheme for the HBSRM is developed to utilize the independent excitation of the four windings in one phase to generate the desired levitation force at any rotor angular position, and it requires only half the number of power circuits used in the conventional control scheme of a 12/8-pole single-winding BSRM. Different from the average torque chosen to be controlled in traditional methods, this scheme directly regulates the instantaneous total torque produced by all excited phases together and presents a current algorithm to optimize the torque contribution of each phase so as to reduce torque pulsation, and the improved performance of this bearingless motor is finally validated by simulation analysis. This paper describes a simplified one-phase equivalent circuit model of three-phase salient pole synchronous machines and synchronous reluctance machines. The model represents the pole saliency as a susceptance, with a magnitude based on the pole saliency and a phase angle based on twice the load angle. The reluctance torque itself is then modeled equivalent to a conductance. The model is made as an extension to Norton equivalents, where the internal inductance is connected as a shunt. This approach shares similarities to the magnetization shunt branch in circuit models of transformers and induction motors. The model is derived using the rotating d q -frame, using Park transform and two-reaction theory. The model is then rewritten to better fit one-phase equivalent circuit models, with the terminal voltage as the angular reference. Given the high saturation, strong nonlinearity, and tight coupling characteristics of the magnetic paths in a switched reluctance motor (SRM), accurately modeling flux-linkage is challenging, thus leading to excessive torque ripple during SRM torque control. In order to enhance the precision of the SRM flux-linkage model, a neural network-based method for the parameter identification of SRM's nonlinear flux-linkage model was proposed in this study. Logistic mapping elements were incorporated into the feedback layer of the diagonal recurrent neural network (DRNN), and chaotic control parameters were designed. Then, the construction of an analytical model of the nonlinear exponential flux-linkage function using the chaotic diagonal recurrent neural network (CDRNN) was established. By utilizing sample data of flux-linkage, current, and angular position, the parameters of this model were estimated, thus achieving a precise nonlinear exponential function model of the flux-linkage. Results show that, the integration of logistic mapping in the CDRNN feedback layer effectively prevents the local minima typically associated with conventional DRNN. The maximum error in the identified flux-linkage is less than 0.01 Wb, and the accuracy reached 95%. Compared with the DRNN method, the CDRNN approach demonstrates significantly reduced errors and higher model precision. This article aims to simulate natural gas vehicle (NGVs) refueling station located in Bucharest, which includes an on-board cylinder, reservoir tanks, connecting pipes, and a reciprocating compressor using thermodynamic analysis. Tanks' pressures during the filling process were changed: 180-200, 200-220, and 220-235 bar for low, average and high pressure respectively. Furthermore, sensitivity analyses were implemented to study changing the cylinder initial pressure and the influence of vehicles' number alteration. The simulation result for mass flow rate is close to the experimental measurements. Additionally, the higher the initial pressure inside vehicle tank, the lower mass delivered and the shorter loading time. Harmonic magnetic gears (HMGs) have the advantage of lubrication‐free, high speed ratio and high torque density, which make it an attractive solution for safety critical applications. Due to eccentricity caused by machining and assembly, HMG suffers from dynamic eccentricity (DE) in operation, however, its effect on HMG performance is still unknown. Transmission characteristic of HMG under DE is studied. First, a magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) model of HMG is proposed to build the magnetic coupling torque analytically, and the geometry of air gap is analysed parametrically to derive its equivalent reluctances. Flux density and coupling torque can be acquired by solving MEC equations. The accuracy of the MEC model is verified by finite element method. To study the transmission characteristic, an electromechanical coupling simulation framework for HMG is constructed, motion trajectories of rotors are investigated in case of DE, the output torque in locked‐rotor condition and speed response in continuous operation can be derived by simulation. It is found that torque ripples that have the same frequency with input rotor are induced by DE; the results are then verified in the experiment. As rare-earth permanent magnet prices continue to fluctuate, interest in non-rare-earth permanent magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance motors (PMa-SynRMs) is increasing. However, non-rare-earth PMa-SynRMs have a multi-layer structure with interior permanent magnets to compensate for the low magnetic fields. Therefore, the rotor has several design parameters, and electromagnetic analysis is time-consuming. To overcome these challenges, magnetic equivalent circuit analysis was used to perform fast electromagnetic analysis of non-rare-earth PMa-SynRMs. In addition, the validity of the proposed method was confirmed through a comparison of the obtained results with those of finite element analysis. In this study, a low-cost, innovative, and non-intrusive rotor position detection system and the phase excitation algorithm were proposed for the external rotor switched reluctance motor (ERSRM). The benefits of the developed rotor position sensing system are its low cost and the accurate detection of the starting position of the rotor. Also, the rotor speed was calculated in real-time using the developed system. Another benefit is that the phase excitation signals are directly generated from this system. Therefore, the complexity of the control algorithm is reduced. To prove the effectiveness of the position sensing system, the motor was operated with the proportional–integral (PI) speed controller. The designed speed controller was implemented on the Texas Instruments (TI) TMS320F28379D Launchpad and experimentally tested. The control results given in section 4 showed that using the phase excitation signals coming from the developed Hall effect sensor-based rotor position detection system, the motor was operated successfully with low torque ripple. There are usually noise problems when the position sensorless control of a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) is carried out by high-frequency (HF) signal injection method. Due to the special structure, the cross-saturation effect of the SynRM is particularly serious, resulting in reduced position observation accuracy. In this paper, a variable-angle random HF voltage injection strategy with cross-saturation effect compensation is proposed for position sensorless SynRM drives. Random number generation based on the chaotic mapping method is used to generate random HF voltage signals with different frequencies for injection; the current power spectral density (PSD) distribution is extended and the HF noise can be reduced. A control strategy based on variable-angle square-wave injection is proposed to suppress the cross-saturation effect. By measuring the position error curves of different loads off-line and polynomial fitting the curves, the position error is achieved by combining with the corresponding signal demodulation algorithm. The proposed method does not require additional hardware resources and can maintain high control accuracy and robustness. Synchronous reluctance machines are considered a cost-effective solution for several industrial applications and present potential efficiency benefits compared to induction motors. In industrial applications, power supply oscillations can lead to short-term disturbances that can affect the drive operation; therefore, the control must be robust to guarantee high efficiency and service continuity. The focus of this study was to identify the speed boundaries considering different values of applied DC-link voltage, taking into account the highly nonlinear magnetic behavior of the machine and its cross-coupling characteristics. In addition, a comprehensive carrier-based implementation of a pulse width modulation strategy was proposed to achieve optimal efficiency in both the machine and converter, which is essential in the presence of "weak" grids. The proposed technique was demonstrated to meet the desired reference torque and rated speed, even during DC-link voltage drops (up to 7.4% of the rated voltage). The proposed methodology was experimentally validated on a 90 kW SynRM drive with a broader modulation range and higher efficiency. The aim of this paper is to study iterative learning control for differential inclusion systems with random fading channels between the plant and the controller. In reality, the phenomenon of fading will inevitably occur in network transmission, which will greatly affect the tracking ability of output trajectory. This study discusses the impact of fading channel on tracking performance at the input and output sides, respectively. First, a set-valued mapping in a differential inclusion system with uncertainty is converted into a single-valued mapping by means of a Steiner-type selector. Then, to offset the effect of the fading channel and improve the tracking ability, a variable local average operator is constructed. The convergence of the learning control algorithm designed by the average operator is proved. The results show that the parameters in the varying local average operator can be adjusted to trade-off between the learning rate and the fading offset rate. The authors present a new design of a PM‐assisted synchronous reluctance motor (PM‐SynRM) with uneven air‐gap length to improve the power factor and enhance the torque production capability. The rotor structure is modified to properly shift rotor magnetic poles and therefore (i) increases the back‐EMF and the electromagnetic torque, (ii) allows electromagnetic torque and reluctance torque components peak near the same current phase angle. The proposed solution is simple, does not require changing the arrangement of magnets and/or flux barriers and is applicable to all types of PM‐SynRMs. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to determine the extent of which the proposed magnetic pole shifting may impact the resultant torque profile. This manuscript proposes an optimization technique for electric vehicles (EVs) operated through solar photovoltaic (PV) panels by enabling the drive of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) and an enhanced cascaded converter (ECC). The proposed method is an improved Tunicate Swarm Algorithm (ITSA). The Lévy flight distributions are emerging at the conventional Tunicate Swarm Algorithm (TSA) in the modified Tunicate Swarm Algorithm, which enhances the capabilities of diversification searching and avoids the potential for stagnation. The major objective of the proposed method is to minimize the ripple present in the supply current and give optimal photovoltaic power extraction to the solar module. The proposed enhanced cascaded converter method consists of a single main converter and one auxiliary converter combined as a series structure for the distribution of minimal voltage across the switch to restrict the switch stress of dv/dt. These quantities of error are lessened by the controller of Proportional–integral; the PI gain controller is tuned to the error and provides a reference current signal by using the proposed method. An optimum voltage gain and continuous input current minimize the impact of less solar irradiation in EV applications. In this study, the issue of simultaneous fault detection and control (SFDC) for a class of switched linear systems with input and state delays is being addressed. A detector/controller unit (dynamic observer/observer-based controller) is suggested for a residual generation that simultaneously takes into account the control and fault detection objectives using specific performance indices. It is assumed that the delay will fluctuate within a range with a lower bound that is not zero. Based on a Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional (LKF), and thanks to the free-weighting matrix and projection lemma, a new sufficient condition for developing a new method is put forth in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Purpose: Industrial drives require appropriate control systems for reliable and efficient performance. With synchronous reluctance machines (SynRMs) slowly replacing the most commonly used induction, switched reluctance and permanent magnet machines, it is essential that the drive and its control be properly selected for enhanced performance. But the major drawback of synchronous reluctance motor is the presence of high torque ripple as its design is characterized by large number of variables. The solutions to reduce torque ripple include design modifications, choice of proper power electronic inverter and PWM strategy. But little has been explored about the power electronic inverters suited for synchronous reluctance motor drive to minimize torque ripple inherently by obtaining a more sinusoidal voltage. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate on the potential multilevel inverter topologies applicable to SynRM drives used in solar pumping applications. Design/methodology/approach: The most significant field-oriented control using maximum torque per ampere algorithm for maximizing the torque production is used for the control of SynRM. Simulation results carried out using Matlab/Simulink are presented to justify the choice of inverter and its control technique for SynRM. Findings: The five-level inverter drive gives lesser core or iron losses in the SynRMin comparison to the three- and two-level inverters due to lower Id current ripple. The five-level inverter reduces the torque ripple of the SynRM significantly in comparison to the three- and two-level inverter fed SynRM drives. The phase disposition-PWM control method used for the inverter shows the least total harmonic distortion (THD) levels in output voltage compared with the other level shifted PWM techniques. Originality/value: Among the available topologies, a fitting topology is proposed for use for the SynRM drive to have minimal THD, minimal current and torque ripple. Additionally, this paper presents various modulation techniques available for the selected drive system and reports on a suitable technique based on minimal THD of output voltage and hence minimal torque ripple. The effect of winding chording on five-phase synchronous reluctance motor (SRM) modelled in phase variables is presented. The stator winding configuration is shifted a pole pitch from a fullpitch configuration to a 54 degrees over-full-pitched configuration incorporating the effect of 3rd harmonic of the air-gap magneto-motive force in the inductance equations. The models are monitored on starting, synchronism, loading, faults and loss of synchronism. These are considered simultaneously with vector potential, rotor speed, air-gap flux linkage and winding current. The phase variable (analytical) models have been simulated by using MATLAB/Simulink software while ANSYS Maxwell software has been used to simulate the finite element model (FEM) of the motor for corresponding chording ranges for comparison on direct online starting (DOL). Real-time hardware-in-the-loop-(HIL) simulation integration is now a fundamental component of the power electronics control design cycle. This integration is required to test the efficacy of controller implementations. Even though hardware-in-the-loop-(HIL) tools use FPGA devices with computing power that is rapidly evolving, developers constantly need to balance the ease of deploying models with acceptable accuracy. This study introduces a methodology for implementing a full-bridge inverter and buck converter utilising the associate-discrete-circuit-(ADC) model, which is optimised for real-time simulator applications. Additionally, this work introduces a new approach for choosing ADC parameter values by using the artificial-bee-colony-(ABC) algorithm, the firefly algorithm (FFA), and the genetic algorithm (GA). The implementation of the ADC-based model enables the development of a consistent architecture in simulation, regardless of the states of the switches. The simulation results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed methodology in selecting optimal parameters for an ADC-switch-based full-bridge inverter and buck converter.
