Objective. To compare the cost-effectiveness of lumbar decompression alone (DA) with lumbar decompression with fusion (DF) for the management of adults undergoing surgery for lumbar stenosis with associated degenerative spondylolisthesis. Summary of Background Data. Rates of lumbar fusion have increased for all indications in the United States over the last 20 years. Recent randomized controlled trial data, however, have suggested comparable functional outcomes and lower reoperation rates for lumbar decompression and fusion as compared with DA in the treatment of lumbar stenosis with degenerative spondylolisthesis. Materials and Methods. A multistate Markov model was constructed from the US payer perspective of a hypothetical cohort of patients with lumbar stenosis with associated spondylolisthesis requiring surgery. Data regarding clinical improvement, costs, and reoperation were generated from contemporary randomized trial evidence, meta-analyses of recent prospective studies, and large retrospective cohorts. Base case, one-way sensitivity analysis, and probabilistic sensitivity analyses were conducted, and the results were compared with a WTP threshold of $100,000 (in 2022 USD) over a two-year time horizon. A discount rate of 3% was utilized. Results. The incremental cost and utility of DF relative to DA were $12,778 and 0.00529 aggregated quality adjusted life years. The corresponding incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of $2,416,281 far exceeded the willingness to pay threshold of $100,000. In sensitivity analysis, the results varied the most with respect to rate of improvement after DA, rate of improvement after lumbar decompression and fusion, and odds ratio of reoperation between the two groups. Zero percent of one-way and probabilistic sensitivity analyses achieved cost-effectiveness at the willingness- to-pay threshold. Conclusions. Within the context of contemporary surgical data, DF is not cost-effective compared with DA in the surgical management of lumbar stenosis with associated spondylolisthesis over a two-year time horizon. The expansion of distributed renewable resources, together with increased demand from the electrification of transport and heating sectors, impacts distribution networks significantly. Additionally, the emergence of non-programmable and intermittent generators is set to diminish the dominance of traditional rotating and programmable generation, thereby affecting the overall stability of the system. Nevertheless, the flexibility offered by distributed resources has the potential to alleviate the necessity for network reinforcement and contribute to system stability at competitive costs. Local flexibility procurement should be rooted in local markets, serving as mechanisms to address distribution congestion and coordinate the provision of flexibility for transmission network services. The multitude of existing systems and the interdependence of flexibility services have given rise to diverse solutions, still undergoing experimentation in various countries. This paper aims to scrutinize key projects that have established local flexibility markets, delineating their fundamental characteristics, the most common solutions, identifying prevalent barriers and suggesting potential future improvements. The investigation focuses on the most uncertain aspects of local markets: possible TSO-DSO coordination schemes, the time horizon for the acquisition of services and the baseline definition methodologies. The existing scales for measuring balanced time perspective (BTP) have limitations, such as poor‐fitting structures or a complex calculation method. Based on previous studies, we conceptualize BTP as an individual's overall positive outlook on the past and future and mindfully living in the present. The present study aimed to develop the Time Perspective Inventory (TPI) for Chinese adults, determine its psychometric properties, and examine a simple calculation method for generating a score to represent BTP. In study 1, a 7‐factor structure of TPI – Past Positive, Past Negative, Mindful Present, Present Hedonistic, Present Excessively Task‐oriented, Future Positive, and Future Negative – was established through exploratory (sample 1, N = 529) and confirmatory (sample 2, N = 577) factor analyses. Findings supported the internal consistency, test–retest reliability, and criterion‐related validity of the TPI. We proposed using the score difference between positive time perspectives and negative time perspectives to calculate the BTP. Findings showed that the correlations between BTP and subjective well‐being indicators and anxiety were higher than among individual dimensions of TPI. Study 2 (sample 3, N = 713) compared the effects of the TPI and the Chinese version of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI‐C) on well‐being indicators and anxiety. Results indicated that the variance of life satisfaction, positive affect, negative affect, and anxiety explained by BTP measured with TPI was higher than deviation from BTP (DBTP) measured with ZTPI‐C. Los Alamos, New Mexico has an enduring and complicated relationship with its past. During World War II, its residents worked to create the world's first atomic weapons. The nuclear legacies of the Manhattan Project are global, but in contemporary Los Alamos the Project is often primarily considered a local history before a national or international one. The community's modern identity is constructed in part through creating its history, and this article studies two children's performances of the Manhattan Project past. The plots of these performances attempt to sidestep difficult history by avoiding nuclear weapons, which can ironically raise their uncanny specter in the imagination of the audience. The community history created in the performances privileges white scientist perspectives and at times flattens differences between past and present. Recently, optimal time variable learning in deep neural networks was introduced in Antil et al. In this manuscript we extend the concept by introducing a regularization term that directly relates to the time horizon in discrete dynamical systems. Furthermore, we propose an adaptive pruning approach for Residual Neural Networks (ResNets), which reduces network complexity without compromising expressiveness, while simultaneously decreasing training time. The results are illustrated by applying the proposed concepts to classification tasks on the well known MNIST and Fashion MNIST data sets. Time perspective is a multi-dimensional psychological construct linked to educational outcomes. The current research studies the relationship between Zimbardo’s time perspective and academic achievement among male and female students of the Faculty of Physical Education, Alexandria University, and its relationship to gender and age. Data was collected using the time perspective scale, The 17-Item. Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory prepared by Gábor Orosz et al et Gábor Orosz (2017). The results of the statistical analysis indicated the suitability of the scale for application in the Egyptian environment after preparing the Arabic version and obtaining the results of the scientific transactions from the validity of the internal consistency and the Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient. The results added the increase correlation. At age according to the principle of prior pleasure, females had fewer negative thoughts about the future than males, and academic achievement was negatively related to current negative attitudes and positively related to future positive attitudes. These results support the study of time perspective as a multidimensional construct that refers to the past, present, and future. These results open horizons. Two web survey studies were conducted to examine the connection between people's time perspectives and the conflict management message styles they were likely to endorse. People view time in multiple ways from the past, present and/or future perspectives. These studies examine whether time perspectives are important predictors of how one approaches conflict and specifically the messages they are likely to endorse, and thus are more likely to use themselves. In the undergraduate sample, self‐oriented conflict message use was positively correlated to a past negative and a present fatalistic perspective of time. Self‐oriented conflict message use was negatively related to a past positive and future orientation time perspective. Other‐oriented message usage was positively correlated to a past negative, present hedonist, present fatalistic, and transcendental orientation toward time. Issue‐oriented message use was positively correlated with a past negative, present fatalistic, future, and transcendental orientation toward time. Utilizing an online sample, self‐oriented conflict management message use was positively correlated to a past negative, present hedonistic, present fatalistic and transcendental perspective of time. Self‐oriented conflict management message use was negatively related to a future orientation of time. Other‐orientation message use was positively related to a past negative, present hedonistic, present fatalistic and a transcendental orientation of time. Lastly, issue‐oriented message use was positively related to a past positive, present hedonistic, future, and transcendental orientation toward time. Time perspectives were significant predictors for the likelihood of utilizing various conflict management message styles when in conflict. Within the larger framework of career construction theory, the present study investigated how future time perspective is related to career adaptability and whether grit may play a mediating role in this relationship. A sample of 483 university students (Mage = 20.03, 92.3% women) filled in scales measuring future time perspective dimensions (i.e., connectedness, value, extension, and speed), grit, and career adaptability comprised in an online survey. Findings showed that career adaptability was positively associated with connectedness and extension, and negatively associated with speed future time dimension. Further, grit was positively linked to career adaptability. In addition, grit mediated the relationships of future time dimensions with career adaptability. This paper proposes a new algorithm based on sensitivity analysis and the Wolfe method to solve a sequence of parametric quadratic programming (QP) problems such as those that arise in quadratic model predictive control (QMPC). The Wolfe method, based on Karush–Kuhn–Tucker conditions, has been used to convert parametric QP problems to parametric linear programming (LP) problems, and then the sensitivity analysis is applied to solve the sequence of the parametric LP problems. This strategy obtains sensitivity analysis‐based QMPC (SA‐QMPC) algorithm. It is proved that the computational complexity of SA‐QMPC is O(Nn2)$O(Nn^2)$ for a region of the initial conditions and O(N2n2)$O(N^2n^2)$ for sufficiently small sampling time and all initial conditions, where N$N$ and n$n$ are the horizon time and dimension of the state vector, respectively. Background: There are significant public health benefits to delaying the onset of Alzheimer's disease (AD) in individuals at risk. However, adherence to brain healthy behaviors is low. The Health Belief Model proposes that specific beliefs are mediators of behavior change. Objective: To characterize health belief measures from the Science of Behavior Change Research Network (SBCRN) in an older adult population and associations between health beliefs, AD risk, and current health behaviors. Methods: A total of 172 individuals from the Rhode Island AD Prevention Registry participated. SBCRN health belief measures included assessments of future time perspective, self-efficacy, deferment of gratification, and consideration of future consequences. Outcome measures included individual AD risk index score, dementia risk awareness, and lifestyle behaviors including physical, cognitive, and social activity. Results: Participants who were older had higher scores for AD risk, lower future time perspective, and lower generalized self-efficacy (all at p < 0.001). Higher generalized self-efficacy was related to increased physical activity (p < 0.010). Higher future time perspective (p < 0.001) and generalized self-efficacy (p = 0.48) were associated with lower AD risk score. Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) was associated with lower self-efficacy, ability to delay gratification, and a less expansive future time perspective. Conclusions: Greater self-efficacy and perceived future time remaining were associated with lower AD risk and greater engagement in physical activity. SCD was associated with health beliefs that may negatively affect engagement in positive brain health behaviors. Assessment of and psychoeducation about these intrapersonal health belief constructs may be important targets for behavioral interventions to reduce AD risk. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the present article, we outline basic assumptions and conceptual tools for a sociology of existence. First, we address man's fundamental conditions of existence: that life's finitude and encounters with the uncertainty of existence are fundamental experiences that construct social relations. Second, we outline how existential meaning‐making and the ability to cope with the unpredictability of life are dependent on power resources, where especially the resource poor may experience 'existential nausea'. Third, we discuss how existential dilemmas may intensify under certain historical eras. Therefore, studying individuals' existential dilemmas is a tool to examine the dominant social issues at a particular time and place. Fourth, we elaborate on the importance of studying turning points during individuals' life courses, as existential meaning – or lack thereof – becomes particularly salient at these times. This includes an understanding that death and rebirth are experienced in the form of various endings and beginnings in everyday life. Fifth, and finally, we emphasize an analysis in which the direction of people's lives is conceptualized in a broad time perspective, where past, present, and future interact and influence life choices and social relations constructed during a lifetime. This research developed a generic and new theoretical full bottom-up model framework that looks at the single vessel daily voyage through its port call stages, combined with vessel specific technical data per International Maritime Organization (IMO) number which consists of vessel category type, class, and main/auxiliary engine characteristics (i.e. type, speed rate, and tier grade). The developed methodology can be used to investigate daily ports emissions' contribution to the existing emission inventory level in the area. This study claims that in terms of port emission inventory, the port and port-related area should be looked at in a more comprehensive way as the current port time perspective on the examined scenarios and stages has a crucial and significant gap in knowledge, which is significantly important for public and policy decision makers. The rescheduling of train timetables is a crucial task in the scheduling of railway transport, known as the Train Timetable Rescheduling (TTR) problem. In order to increase passenger satisfaction with transfer and reduce the impact of delayed trains on transfer succession and railway operation, a high-speed railway multiobjective optimization model for train timetable rescheduling is constructed with station operating time, transfer station track utilization rate, and train operating time as constraints, and maximizing passenger satisfaction, minimizing total train delay time, and minimizing the number of failed passengers in transfer as optimization objectives. A multiobjective solution algorithm based on hierarchical sequence theory was designed, and finally, the model was solved using Gurobi. Taking the example of the railway network comprising of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and Xuzhou-Lanzhou high-speed railway, two adjustment strategies have been formulated to validate the model. The results show that the train timetable rescheduling model considering transfer passenger satisfaction can significantly reduce the delay time of transfer passengers and the possibility of transfer failure while maintaining high transfer passenger satisfaction, which provides a new idea for real-time train operation scheduling considering transfer succession. Key messages: The majority of dialysis patients and clinicians favor early advance care planning in our sample. Yet, there is a disconnect: only 11% of patients discussed future care with their clinicians. Our findings indicate Japanese dialysis patients and clinicians support proactive advance care planning at or before dialysis initiation. Background: Little is known about the optimal timing of discussions about advance care planning among dialysis patients and clinicians engaged in dialysis care. We aimed to explore the preferred timing for advance care planning and assess actual participation in advance care planning among dialysis patients and their clinicians. Methods: A scenario-based survey on Japanese patients aged ≥65 years on dialysis and clinicians involved in their dialysis care was performed. Participants were asked if they would feel prepared to engage in advance care planning with their clinicians, offering a choice among four hypothetical stages within the illness trajectory, extending from the initiation of dialysis to a later phase characterized by the patient's extreme frailty. Results: Overall, 181 patients and 128 clinicians participated in the study. Among these, 131 (72%) patients, and 84 (66%) clinicians indicated that they would prefer to initiate advance care planning around the time of dialysis initiation. Only 20 patients (11%) indicated that they had participated in advance care planning with at least one clinician, including 11 (6%) who indicated that they had discussed their preferences around life-sustaining treatments and 8 (4%) who had discussed their preferences around dialysis continuation. Conclusions: While fewer than 11% of patients undergoing dialysis and their clinicians enrolled in our study had participated in advance care planning, most indicated that they would be comfortable initiating the discussion around the time of dialysis initiation. The purpose of the study was to test the applicability of the "Time Perspective Scale" for the emerging adult population in China. Participants were 725 young adults. The instruments included the "Time Perspective Scale", "Life Satisfaction Scale" and "Career Adaptability Scale". The results indicated: (1) The results of confirmatory factor analysis supported the four-factor structure of time perspective scale: future positive, future negative, adventure stimulus and fatalistic enjoyment; (2) Each dimension of time perspective was significantly correlated with the dimensions of career adaptability and life satisfaction; (3) Career adaptability were found to play a mediating role between time perspective and life satisfaction. Demand for imaging of large area targets by space-based assets such as constellations of Earth Observation Satellites (EOS) is on the rise for different applications. The area targets coverage cannot be achieved by a single satellite in a single observation opportunity, as the region for imaging spreads wider than the coverage swaths of imaging sensors. Hence, the imaging satellites are scheduled in a cooperative way to achieve maximum coverage of the area in a given planning time horizon. The scheduling algorithms also aim to maximize or minimize some specific objectives of interest while simultaneously complying with all resource constraints for an efficient use of precious space resources. As the current generation satellites are highly agile, there are many ways of choosing an imaging location in the target area for each single observation opportunity of a satellite. Even though the possible imaging region in continuous space is discretized into a finite number of strips for each observation, the huge combinatorial search space formed with all satellites' imaging opportunities makes the problem intractable. Thus, the area target imaging scheduling is a complex combinatorial NP-hard optimization problem. Many exact and heuristic methods were evolved to provide a solution to this scheduling problem. Even though the exact methods solve the problem to optimality, they are limited to smaller problem instances because of the high computational complexities involved in those methods. More focus is seen in the literature on heuristic approaches as they guarantee scheduling performance with feasible solutions within an acceptable computational complexity. This paper presents our efficient heuristic approach proposed for the scheduling problem for imaging a large area target using a constellation of multiple satellites. Our approach is an extension of a widely used greedy approach in combination with insights from dynamic programming. In this paper, first we addressed the scheduling problem by describing it in detail and formulating it into a non-linear integer programming problem, considering the multi-objectives of achieving maximum coverage and minimum imaging resolution. The solution to the problem comprises two phases, namely the area decomposition phase and the scheduling phase. In the area decomposition phase, the area target is divided into strips dynamically for each observation opportunity of a satellite. Then exact observation period of each strip is computed using a simplified semi-analytical computational method. In the scheduling phase, we applied our heuristic search strategy, namely Forward and Backward Heuristic Search (FBHS) to obtain a near optimal solution within an acceptable computational time. As waiting lists for elective surgery grow, there seems to be a disconnect between the public's expectations on the amount of time surgeons spend operating compared with reality. On average, a surgeon in the NHS spends one day a week performing elective surgery. We aimed to investigate the public's perception on the amount of time surgeons spend performing elective surgery and what they would desire. Members of the public in the UK were approached randomly either on-line or in-person to complete an anonymised 6-question survey. The questionnaire included demographic details, surgical history, occupational experience in the healthcare sector, the number of days a week they believe and wish for surgeons to be performing elective surgery. 252 members of the public responded to the survey (150 females, 102 males). 38.5% have experience working in the healthcare sector and 58.5% have had surgery in the past. 83.7% believe surgeons spend at least 3 days a week performing elective surgery [3–4 days (43.2%), 5–7 days (40.5%)]. 45.7% of respondents want their surgeon to operate between 5 and 7 days per week. This research emphasizes the role of employees in managing their experiences of successful ageing at work. Following a lifespan developmental framework, we propose a new model in which employees, who proactively engage in cognitive job crafting and work uncertainty regulation, are more effective in altering their perceptions of remaining time at work. This, in turn, enhances their experiences of successful ageing in the workplace (i.e. the likelihood to sustain longer, healthier and more productive working lives). We test the conceptual model in two consecutive studies with workers from the United States of America (Study 1) and China (Study 2). The results replicate across the two studies, confirming the indirect positive effect of cognitive crafting on successful ageing at work through perceived remaining time at work. In addition, in Study 2, we find that the effect of cognitive crafting on perceived remaining time at work is stronger for employees with higher (vs. lower) levels of work certainty. Finally, work predictability indirectly moderates the relationship between cognitive crafting and perceived remaining time at work via work certainty. These findings offer important theoretical insights into the fields of work and ageing, job design and uncertainty regulation and provide the evidence base for building capacity, improving organizational practice and policymaking on active ageing at work and beyond. Then, we investigate the stability, self‐adjointness, and Markov properties of Lp$$ {L}&#x0005E;p $$‐solutions and analyze the error of numerical schemes of quantum stochastic differential equations. This study aims to test the hypothesis that longer time horizons are associated with decreased disability and mortality in older adults.Participants were 1052 older adults (mean age = 81 ± 7 years) without dementia. Proportional hazard models adjusted for age, sex, and education were used to examine the associations of time horizons with risk of mortality and disability.During up to 11 years of follow up (mean = 5.7), 317 participants died. In fully adjusted models, longer time horizons were associated with reduced mortality risk (hazard rate [HR] = 0.78, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.68–0.89). About 36.7% of participants developed disability in instrumental activities of daily living (ADLs) and 49.3% developed disability in basic ADLs during follow up. Longer time horizons were associated with a reduced risk of disability in basic ADLs (HR = 0.89, 95% CI = 0.79–0.99) but not instrumental ADLs (HR = 0.90, 95% CI = 0.80–1.03).Longer time horizons are associated with a reduced risk of all-cause mortality and disability in basic ADLs among community-dwelling older adults, thus highlighting a potentially modifiable psychological risk factor for negative health outcomes in aging. Two important opportunistic age replacement models, under replacement first and last disciplines, are generalized in discrete time. The net present value (NPV) is applied to formulate the expected total costs. The priority of multiple replacement options is considered to classify the cost model with discounting into six cases. Since the NPV method accurately calculates the expected replacement costs over an infinite horizon in an unstable economic environment, we discuss some optimal opportunistic age replacement policies which minimize the expected total discounted costs over an infinite time horizon. Furthermore, we formulate a unified model under each discipline, merging six discrete time replacement models with probabilistic priority. Energy management strategies play a crucial role in enhancing the fuel efficiency of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. For the current commonly used time horizon optimization methods that only target the trend curve of the optimal battery state of charge (SOC) trajectory obtained offline, which are only suitable for buses with known future driving conditions, this paper proposed an energy management strategy based on an adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) that optimizes the time horizon length and enhances adaptability to driving conditions by integrating historical vehicle velocity, accelerations, and battery SOC trajectory. First, the vehicle velocity prediction model based on the radial basis function (RBF) neural network is used to predict the future velocity sequence. After that, ANFIS was used to optimize and update the length of the forecast time horizon based on the historical vehicle velocity sequence. Finally, compared with the fixed time horizon energy management strategy, which is based on model predictive control (MPC), the average calculation time of the energy management strategy is reduced by about 23.5%, and the fuel consumption per 100 km is reduced by about 6.12%. Introduction: Atopic dermatitis is associated with intense itch, which has been shown to cause sleep disruption that significantly impacts the lives of patients with atopic dermatitis. Despite this, little is known about its burden to the healthcare system and society. This study aimed to quantify the economic burden of itch-related sleep loss in moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis in the UK. Methods: A literature-based decision-analytic model was developed from a healthcare payer and societal perspective. The model quantifies the economic burden by linking the severity of itch to the number of days of sleep disruption. The model captures the direct costs of healthcare resource utilization and treatment alongside the indirect costs of productivity loss from absenteeism and presenteeism at work over a 5-year time horizon. The patient population considered was patients aged ≥ 15 years with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis and itch-related sleep disruption. Results: The model estimated that itch-related sleep disruption as a result of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis would affect an average of 821,142 people over the time horizon (2022 to 2026). This translates into an average net economic burden of £3.8 billion (£4687 per patient), with an average of 172 million days being affected by sleep disruption per year in the UK. The greatest contributor to the annual average net economic burden was productivity loss from absenteeism and presenteeism, each accounting for 34%. The direct costs (treatment costs and healthcare resource use) accounted for 32% of the net economic burden. The results showed a high and gradually increasing economic burden over the 5-year time horizon. Conclusions: Sleep disruption has a high economic burden and reducing itch may provide substantial direct and indirect savings. Quantifying the economic burden of itch-related sleep loss may provide support for analyses to inform public health policies for treatment of atopic dermatitis, particularly within the moderate-to-severe level. The following work presents a study of a group of 10 men serving a prison sentence, concerning temporal dispositions of their personality (i.e. time perspective, hope, future anxiety, acceptance of the past). The research was longitudinal—it was repeated after one year in order to check whether and to what extent these variables changed under the conditions of a specific situation—a stay in prison. In the course of the research, slight, statistically significant changes in the profile of temporal variables were noticed in the group of respondents after one year. There were also significant differences in the level of these variables compared to the validation groups, which shows the specificity of this group of prisoners. Based on in-depth analysis of two case studies, exemplary directions for social rehabilitation and psychological support for prisoners, which consider their temporal experiences, were proposed. In order to cope with severe environmental crises such as pollution and climate, the Chinese government has put forward the strategic goal of "double carbon" and vigorously developed green emerging industries such as cultural industry. Based on the super efficiency model and the input oriented Malmquist index model, this paper comprehensively measures the innovation efficiency of cultural industry, and selects the panel data of the Yangtze River economic belt from 2015 to 2021 for empirical analysis. In addition, the spatial econometric model is introduced to explore the driving factors affecting the innovation efficiency of cultural industry from the perspective of time and space. The results show that: (1) the overall innovation efficiency of the cultural industry in the Yangtze River economic belt is high, but there is significant spatial heterogeneity. (2) The average Malmquist index of the innovation efficiency of the cultural industry in the Yangtze River economic belt is 1.123, which reflects the continuous improvement of the level of industrial innovation. Environmental factors such as sulfur dioxide emissions in waste gas, investment in industrial pollution control, and per capita GDP have a significant impact on the innovation efficiency of cultural industry in the Yangtze River economic belt. The multiple global crisis has made the economies of the world's countries, including EU's economy, vulnerable through the downgrading of the pandemic and the subsequent outbreak of geo-political conflict. These two events had the effect of decelerating the European economy and increasing the poverty level of the population, even that these developments are weaker than in rest of the world. The main objective of the present scientific approach is to identify a risk function based on Markov probability chains and to assess the possibilities of economic recovery through a package of policies structured over different time horizons. The used methods consist of meta-analysis, statistical analysis and geo-spatial and temporal modelling. The results of the study capture the integrated developments of risk-generating macroeconomic elements such as inflation, unemployment, public debt growth in a regionally segregated manner. Objective: To evaluate the validity and reliability of the Chinese version of the Balanced Time Perspective Scale (BTPS) in college students. Methods: In sample 1 (n = 500), the Chinese version of the BTPS was administered, followed by item analysis and exploratory factor analysis. In sample 2 (n=722), the BTPS was tested for criterion validity, and the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI), Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-Student (UWE-S), and Index of Well-Being (IWB) were used as criterion measures. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted. Sample 3 (n = 102) was selected for a retest after a three-week interval. Results: The Chinese version of the BTPS consisted of 27 items, including two dimensions naming past and future. Additionally, confirmatory factor analysis showed that the two-factor model was good fitted (x²/df = 3. 10, CFI = 0. 92, TLI = 0. 91, SRMR = 0. 05, RMSEA = 0.05). Sulfide ore dust is at risk of explosion. To analyze the concentration distribution of sulfide ore dust in the ore loading, transporting, and unloading operations, the migration and dispersion processes of sulfide ore dust were simulated by using FLUENT software and taking the dust generation rate, roadway air velocity, and dust source position as variables. The concentration of sulfide ore dust was analyzed from the four-dimensional perspective of time and space. The results show that the maximum concentration of sulfide ore dust is determined by the dust generation rate. The roadway air velocity exhibits dual effects on the migration and deposition of sulfide ore dust. The ore loading position significantly impacts the distribution of sulfide ore dust, manifesting in varying degrees of superposition effects. Based on the results, this paper proposes a comprehensive dust reduction measure in the form of water curtain and dynamic ventilation, effectively minimizing the concentration of sulfide mine dust within the roadway. Typhoid fever causes substantial morbidity and mortality in Bangladesh. The government of Bangladesh plans to introduce typhoid conjugate vaccines (TCV) in its expanded program on immunization (EPI) schedule. However, the optimal introduction strategy in addition to the costs and benefits of such a program are unclear. We extended an existing mathematical model of typhoid transmission to integrate cost data, clinical incidence data, and recently conducted serosurveys in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas. In our primary analysis, we evaluated the status quo (i.e., no vaccination) and eight vaccine introduction strategies including routine and 1-time campaign strategies, which differed by age groups targeted and geographic focus. Model outcomes included clinical incidence, seroincidence, deaths, costs, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), and incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) for each strategy. We adopted a societal perspective, 10-year model time horizon, and 3 % annual discount rate. We performed probabilistic, one-way, and scenario sensitivity analyses including adopting a healthcare perspective and alternate model time horizons. We projected that all TCV strategies would be cost saving compared to the status quo. The preferred strategy was a nationwide introduction of TCV at 9–12 months of age with a single catch-up campaign for children ages 1–15, which was cost saving compared to all other strategies and the status quo. In the 10 years following implementation, we projected this strategy would avert 3.77 million cases (95 % CrI: 2.60 – 5.18), 11.31 thousand deaths (95 % CrI: 3.77 – 23.60), and save $172.35 million (95 % CrI: −14.29 – 460.59) compared to the status quo. Our findings were broadly robust to changes in parameter values and willingness-to-pay thresholds. Therefore, high sensitivity in situ detection of H 2 O 2 released from living cells was valuable in clinical diagnosis. In the present work, a novel electrochemical cells sensing platform by synthesizing copper nanoclusters (CuNCs) at room temperature based on DNA nanoribbon (DNR) as a template (DNR-CuNCs). The tight and ordered arrangement of nanostructured assemblies of DNR-CuNCs conferred the sensor with superior stability (45 days) and electrochemical performance. The MUC1 aptamer extending from the DNR template enabled the direct capture MCF-7 cells on electrode surface, this facilitated real-time monitoring of H 2 O 2 release from stimulated MCF-7 cells. While the captured MCF-7 cells on the electrode surface significantly amplified the current signal of H 2 O 2 release compared with the traditional electrochemical detection H 2 O 2 released signal by MCF-7 cells in PBS solution. The approach provides an effective strategy for the design of versatile sensors and achieving monitored cell release of H 2 O 2 in long time horizon (10 h). We consider a new class of multi-period network interdiction problems, where interdiction and restructuring decisions are decided upon before the network is operated and implemented throughout the time horizon. We discuss how we apply this new problem to disrupting domestic sex trafficking networks, and introduce a variant where a second cooperating attacker has the ability to interdict victims and prevent the recruitment of prospective victims. This problem is modeled as a bilevel mixed integer linear program (BMILP), and is solved using column-and-constraint generation with partial information. We also simplify the BMILP when all interdictions are implemented before the network is operated. Modeling-based augmentations are proposed to significantly improve the solution time in a majority of instances tested. We apply our method to synthetic domestic sex trafficking networks, and discuss policy implications from our model. Climate change and its consequences are recognized as one of the most important challenges to the functioning of the Earth's ecosystem and humanity. However, the response to the threat posed by the climate crisis still seems inadequate. The question of which psychological factors cause people to engage (or not) in pro-environmental behavior remains without a comprehensive answer. The aim of this study is to establish the links between the cognitive (level of knowledge about climate change and degree of belief in climate myths), emotional (various climate emotions, especially climate anxiety) and behavioral aspects of attitudes towards the climate crisis and their determinants in the form of the Big Five personality domains and time perspectives. The stated hypotheses were verified by analyzing data collected in an online survey of 333 adults using knowledge tests and self-report methods, including psychological questionnaires (Climate Change Anxiety Scale by Clayton and Karazsia, Big Five Inventory–short version by Schupp and Gerlitz, and Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory by Zimbardo and Boyd), and measurement scales developed for this study (Climate myth belief scale, Climate emotion scale, and Inventories of current and planned pro-environmental activities). The results of stepwise regression analysis demonstrate the importance of the core personality traits and the dominant temporal perspective as determinants of belief in climate change myths, climate anxiety, as well as actual and planned pro-environmental behavior. This paper aims to establish a new event-triggered model predictive control (MPC) strategy for perturbed nonlinear systems working in a networked environment, which can effectively save the computation and communication resources while ensuring control performance. The core of the framework is a new event-triggered mechanism, which is built by combining the differential and integral (D-I) information of the error between the optimal state and the actual state in a pre-specified time horizon. Based on such a triggering mechanism, a D-I based event-triggered robust MPC algorithm is proposed to stabilise the system and reduce the computation/communication resource consumption. In addition, sufficient conditions to ensure the feasibility and stability of the proposed MPC algorithm and avoid Zeno behaviour are obtained through rigorous theoretical analysis. Objective: Emerging research challenges the one‐factor model of the future time perspective (FTP) scale by demonstrating two‐ and three‐factor models of the FTP scale. Method: Three samples (i.e., Switzerland and the United States; N = 2022) explored the factor structure, age pattern differences, tested the link between FTP factors, psychological well‐being, and life satisfaction, as well as age as a moderator. Results: We distinguished FTP into opportunities, extension, and constraint factors that corroborated previous research. We did not find a replicable curvilinear age pattern difference on any of the FTP factors. The association between extension and life satisfaction was stronger among younger than older adults. Alternatively, the association between constraint and life satisfaction was stronger among younger than older adults in Samples A and C, and the pattern was reversed in Sample B. Lastly, the association between constraint and environmental mastery was stronger among older adults than younger adults in Sample B and the pattern was reversed in Sample C. Conclusion: This variation in the perception of the future is different for people at different periods in life and has an important consequence for living life well, especially a focus on extension and lack of constraint. To optimize the evacuation process of rail transit passenger flows, the influence of the feeder bus network on bus demand is pivotal. This study first examines the transportation mode preferences of rail transit station passengers and addresses the feeder bus network's optimization challenge within a three-dimensional framework, incorporating an elastic mechanism. Consequently, a strategic planning model is developed. Subsequently, a multi-objective optimization model is constructed to simultaneously increase passenger numbers and decrease both travel time costs and bus operational expenses. Due to the NP-hard nature of this optimization problem, we introduce an enhanced non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm, INSGA-II. This algorithm integrates innovative encoding and decoding rules, adaptive parameter adjustment strategies, and a combination of crowding distance and distribution entropy mechanisms alongside an external elite archive strategy to enhance population convergence and local search capabilities. The efficacy of the proposed model and algorithm is corroborated through simulations employing standard test functions and instances. The results demonstrate that the INSGA-II algorithm closely approximates the true Pareto front, attaining Pareto optimal solutions that are uniformly distributed. Additionally, an increase in the fleet size correlates with greater passenger volumes and higher operational costs, yet it substantially lowers the average travel cost per customer. An optimal fleet size of 11 vehicles is identified. Moreover, expanding feeder bus routes enhances passenger counts by 18.03%, raises operational costs by 32.33%, and cuts passenger travel time expenses by 21.23%. These findings necessitate revisions to the bus timetable. Therefore, for a bus network with elastic demand, it is essential to holistically optimize the actual passenger flow demand, fleet size, bus schedules, and departure frequencies. Ultra-wideband (UWB) has gained increasing interest for providing real-time positioning to robots in GPS-denied environments. For a robot to act on this information, it also requires its heading. This is, however, not provided by UWB. To overcome this, either multiple tags are used to create a local reference frame connected to the robot or a single tag is combined with ego-motion estimation from odometry or Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) measurements. Both odometry and the IMU suffer from drift, and it is common to use a magnetometer to correct the drift on the heading; however, magnetometers tend to become unreliable in typical GPS-denied environments. To overcome this, a lightweight particle filter was designed to run in real time. The particle filter corrects the ego-motion heading and location drift using the UWB measurements over a moving horizon time frame. The algorithm was evaluated offline using data sets collected from a ground robot that contains line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight conditions. An RMSE of 13 cm and 0.12 (rad) was achieved with four anchors in the LOS condition. It is also shown that it can be used to provide the robot with real-time position and heading information for the robot to act on it in LOS conditions, and it is shown to be robust in both experimental conditions. Transient dynamics have always intrigued ecologists, but current rapid environmental change (inducing transients even in previously undisturbed systems) has highlighted their importance more than ever. Here, I introduce a method for analyzing the sensitivity of transient ecological dynamics to parameter perturbations. The question the method answers is: how would the community dynamics have unfolded for some time horizon had the parameters been slightly different? I apply the method to three empirically parameterized models: competition between native forbs and exotic grasses in California, a host-parasitoid system, and an experimental chemostat predator-prey model. These applications showcase the ecological insights one can gain from models using transient sensitivity analysis. First, one can find parameters and their combinations whose perturbations disproportionately affect a system. Second, one can identify particular windows of time during which the predicted deviation from the unperturbed trajectories is especially large and utilize this information for management purposes. Third, there is an inverse relationship between transient and long-term sensitivities whenever the interacting populations are ecologically similar; paradoxically, the smaller the immediate response of the system, the more extreme its long-term response will be. This study investigated perfectionism and time perspective in relation to career decision making in a sample of college students. In this sample, males were 41.8% (n = 163) and females were 58.2% (n = 227) with a mean age of 20.93 (SD =.51). In specific, perfectionistic strivings and perfectionistic concerns along with a range of time perspective subscales were analyzed to distinguish emergent personality profiles. The results supported three clusters of personality profiles: past-negative-present perfectionists, future perfectionists, and present non perfectionists. The past-negative-present group had the second highest score in career decision-making, suggesting that negative reflecting on the past and enjoyment of the moment. The future-perfectionist group reported the highest scores for all career decision-making subscales. The present non-perfectionists reported the lowest scores for all career decision-making subscales. The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine has significantly impacted the country's healthcare system. Insufficient infrastructure, destruction of medical facilities, and barriers to prevention and treatment efforts hinder the provision of timely, high-quality care to our patients. We aim to describe the impact of the war on neurological care across Ukraine. In this article, leading national experts in stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and movement disorders describe their personal experience and efforts in organizing and providing care since the war started in February 2022. A neurologist who cared for patients in Mariupol recounts the first weeks of the war when the city was under constant attacks. An international stroke expert describes the role of Task Force for Ukraine, a European Stroke Organization initiative to support the Ukrainian stroke community. We discuss a series of critical challenges facing Ukraine's neurologists, patients, and healthcare delivery system, including shortages of personnel and medical supplies, disrupted logistics, and lack of funding. In addition, we highlight various interventions and strategies aimed at counteracting these challenges, including international support, collaborations within Ukraine, and initiatives enhancing the resilience of the Ukrainian neurology community. As the war is ongoing, this article emphasizes the pressing need for continuous support and investment in the Ukrainian healthcare system to preserve guaranteed access to high-quality healthcare for the Ukrainian people during the war and in its aftermath. Spain accounts for 13.1% of the world's vineyard area, and viticulture is crucial for the socioeconomic and cultural sectors. Vineyards are among the perennial crops that can suffer most negative impacts under climate change which can pose challenges to the sustainability of viticulture. Local and regional studies are needed to assess these impacts to help implement effective strategies in response to climate change. To this end, our approach involves integrating both conventional agroclimatic indices and those new bioclimatic indices that have proven to be essential for the characterization and demarcation of vineyards into species distribution models to assess areas suitable for viticulture under climate change projections. The proposed methodology was tested in a viticultural region located in northwestern Spain (DO León). An ensemble platform was used to build consensus models encompassing three general circulation models, two emission scenario pathways and two time horizons. Only the predictors that effectively characterize each grape variety were included in the models. The results revealed increases in the continentality index, compensated thermicity index, hydrothermic index of Branas, and temperature range during ripening in all the future scenarios analyzed in comparison to current conditions. Conversely, the values for the annual ombrothermic index and growing season precipitation may decrease in the future. The pattern of changes for 2070 will be more pronounced than for 2050. A significant loss of future habitat suitability was detected within the limits of the study area for the grape varieties analyzed. This negative impact could be counteracted to some degree with new and favorable areas for the cultivation of vineyards in territories located at the north of the DO limits. We suggest that our results could help policymakers to develop practices and strategies to conserve existing grape varieties and to implement efficient adaptation measures for mitigating or anticipating the effects of climate change on viticulture. In this paper, a new dynamic photogrammetry method using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is proposed and the UAV-based operational modal analysis method is established. The presented dynamic photogrammetry method can measure the dynamic displacements of structure using one or two cameras. However, it is difficult to use fixed cameras or handheld cameras to measure the dynamic responses for some outdoor structures, because it is hard to reach for measurement or maintenance sometimes. Therefore, UAV is an effective alternative and the homography-based perspective rectification method can be used to correct the UAV images. However, the presented methods use only four calibration points. Additionally, there is still obvious signal drift in the extracted dynamic responses. In this paper, a new time varying homography matrix, calculated using n calibration points, is proposed here for the first time to correct the perspective distortion for image at different time and the relative displacements are used to eliminate the influence of UAV in-plane motion. The influence analysis of UAV vibration and the method to eliminate the UAV vibration are the novelty of this paper. And then, the UAV-based operational modal analysis method is proposed. The proposed method is verified using a plane frame structure in laboratory. The results show that the proposed method can effectively eliminate the vibration of UAV and identify the structural modal parameters. Under the impulse excitation and white noise excitation, when the calibration points n is larger than 60, the relative errors of natural frequency and damping ratio are less than 0.4% and 5.45%, respectively. And the MAC values are all greater than 0.99. Green innovation is pivotal to events. However, little is known about how exhibitors manage the challenge of adopting green innovation in the fast-paced and short-oriented events. Drawing upon institutional theory and organisational learning perspective, this study investigates how institutional pressures are linked to exhibitors' willingness to adopt (WTA) eco-exhibiting via two temporal variables: future orientation (mediator) and past experience (moderator). PLS-SEM is applied to analyse a survey from 685 event exhibitors. Results show that coercive and normative pressures are significantly associated with exhibitors' future orientation, which then predicts WTA. Besides, past experience moderates the relationship between institutional pressures and WTA. Specifically, experienced exhibitors learn by doing and their WTA is more associated with normative pressure, while novice exhibitors learn vicariously and their WTA links stronger to mimetic pressures. This paper integrates macro-level institutional pressures and organisational-level learning heterogeneity, offering a multi-level explanation of green innovation adoption. This research also contributes to the green events and sustainable tourism literature with novel insights from the time perspective, verifying events as pro-environmental learning spaces for exhibitors. To facilitate informed decision making on participating in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, we assessed the benefit-harm balance of CRC screening for a wide range of subgroups over different time horizons. The study combined incidence proportions of benefits and harms of (not) participating in CRC screening estimated by the Adenoma and Serrated pathway to CAncer microsimulation model, a preference eliciting survey, and benefit-harm balance modeling combining all outcomes to determine the net health benefit of CRC screening over 10, 20, and 30 years. Probability of net health benefit was estimated for 210 different subgroups based on age, sex, previous participation in CRC screening, and lifestyle. CRC screening was net beneficial in 183 of 210 subgroups over 30 years (median probability [MP] of 0.79, interquartile range [IQR] of 0.69-0.85) across subgroups. Net health benefit was greater for men (MP 0.82; IQR 0.69-0.89) than women (MP 0.76; IQR 0.67-0.83) and for those without history of participation in previous screenings (MP 0.84; IQR 0.80-0.89) compared with those with (MP 0.69; IQR 0.59-0.75). Net health benefit decreased with increasing age, from MP of 0.84 (IQR 0.80-0.86) at age 55 to 0.61 (IQR 0.56-0.71) at age 75. Shorter time horizons led to lower benefit, with MP of 0.70 (IQR 0.62-0.80) over 20 years and 0.54 (IQR 0.48-0.67) over 10 years. Our benefit-harm analysis provides information about net health benefit of screening participation, based on important characteristics and preferences of individuals, which could assist screening invitees in making informed decisions on screening participation. • Colorectal cancer (CRC) screening programs are perceived, on average, as beneficial for population health. However, not every individual will benefit from screening. The benefit-harm balance for a specific individual depends on CRC risk factors such as age, sex and lifestyle, the risk of potential harms of the screening procedure, and individual preferences regarding benefits and harms. • Our benefit-harm analysis shows that CRC screening is beneficial for most subgroups when considering a time horizon of 30 years. The most important factor in determining net health benefit was previous participation. Sense of coherence (SoC) can promote positive coping, and one of its most prominent negative correlates is negative affectivity (NA). In the current study, we hypothesized that future and past time perspectives (TPs) will mediate the relationship between sense of coherence and negative affectivity, and the inverse relationship. The study was questionnaire-based, performed online. N = 719 participants aged 25–45 from the general Polish population took part. On the correlation level, NA was negatively related to future and past positive TPs, and positively to past negative TP. Future and past positive TPs were positively related to SoC, whereas the past negative TP was related negatively to SoC. Future and past TPs partially mediated the effect of NA on SoC. The indirect effect was the strongest for past negative TP and very weak for future and past positive TPs. The full model accounted for 52.9% of variance in SoC. Only past negative TP mediated the relationship between SoC and NA. The full model accounted for 29.8% of variance in NA. The results may serve as an inspiration to integrate time perspective aspects within the salutogenic approaches to understanding human behavior and psychological interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
