The phytoconstituents of the essential oil isolated by hydrodistillation and solvent extracts (PE, BZ, DCM, EtOAc and EtOH) of mature rhizomes of turmeric (Curcuma pseudomontana) were analyzed by GC–MS. The major constituents identified in the oil and the extracts were Benzofuran (6.93%), γ-Curcumene (11.18%), β-Elemenone (22.14%), Germacrone (15.15%), Phenol, 2-Methyl-5-(1,2,2-trimethylcyclopentyl)- (29.58%), Germacrene (8.78%), Italicene (15.30%), Xanthorrhizol (56.52%), Pseudocumenol (24.56%) and Epicurzerenolne (4.95%). Analyzing the anti-inflammatory activity of essential oils (EO), and solvent extracts using HRBC stabilization and antioxidant activity. The results of GC MS analysis showed that while Pseudocumenol the major componenets in the essential oil. Xanthorrhizol is the major component in BZ, DCM and EtOH extracts of the matured rhizomes of C. psedomonata. The results of EO and the solvent extracts from Curcuma possessed good anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities and hence can be used in natural preservative ingredients in food and/ or pharmaceutical industries.

Theoretical studies have been carried out on bio active molecules such as Naphthalene (npa) and its derivatives naphthalene-2-sulfonic acid (nsa) and 1-nitroso-2-naphthol (nnol) using both Ab initio HF and DFT-B3LYP methods with 6-311++G(d,2p) basis sets. The geometrical parameters, molecular properties and vibrational spectra of nsa, nnol and npa were calculated and analyzed. Geometrical optimizations of the nsa, nnol and npa molecules were done by Density Functional Theory (DFT) using the B3LYP function and Hartree-Fock (HF) level with 6-311++G(d,2p) basis set. The optimized molecular geometry and computed vibrational spectra are compared with experimental results which show significant agreement. DFT and HF global chemical reactivity descriptors (chemical hardness, total energy, electronic chemical otential and electrophilicity) are calculated for the title molecules and used to predict their relative stability and reactivity.

Inhibitory effect of ethanol extract of Gossypium herbaceum leaves on the corrosion of mild steel in 1N HCl and 1N H2SO4 has been investigated by burden Loss Method, FTIR, SEM, Potentiodynamic and Polarization measurements. The experiment by Weight Loss Method has shown that the ethanol extract of Gossypium herbaceum inhibits mild steel corrosion and the inhibition efficiency of the extract increases with increase in concentration and temperature. FTIR spectra were used to examine the protective layer formed on the metal surface. The Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy result have revealed that variation in the impedance parameters, charge transfer resistance and double layer capacitance, with the deviation in extract concentration are due to the adsorption of active molecules resulting in the construction of a protective layer on the mild steel surface. The SEM method has provided the confirmatory evidence of the safeguard of mild steel by the green inhibitor. The consequences of the study have shown that the leaf extract of Gossypium herbaceum exhibits fine corrosion inhibition efficiency for mild steel in both acid media. Secured data transmission and data sharing have always been a challenge on the Internet of things-based networks. Blockchain-enabled peer to peer (P2P) networks are suitable infrastructure for the Internet of Things (IoT) and Beyond 5G (B5G) applications. The advantage is that the distributed nature of architecture and security services provided by this network extends its use in all sort of financial transactions. There are many issues related to IoT based networks; Heterogeneous IoT devices, security, energy issues. This paper implements data security by employing private blockchain in SDN and public blockchain for peer to peer communication and a secured authentication method to validate the blocks in the network. To increase confidentiality and non-repudiation, it implements an additional component; here, the sender signs the particular operation while transferring the data from one user to another user. It is published with a public key and Public-key value-based signature generated with the private key of the transaction. Nodes authenticate this operation based on Public key value-based signature thus generated. The cryptography with hashing process provides better immutability. The results show enhanced security during data transmission and improved throughput, response time, reduction in end-to-end delay and overhead when compared to the existing methods. To overcome the drawbacks, a Regression Neural Networks (RNN) Segmentation approach has been proposed in this paper. The degree of recognition is less in tissues which are associated to the neighboring lesion with pixels having same intensity. RNN provides a greater accuracy of recognition of the adjacent lesions with similar intensity when compared to other methods like Skeleton graph cut and Level set method. Segmentation is done based on the degree of recognition. So the RNN method proposed in this paper concentrates mainly on the precise detection of boundary for juxtapleural and juxtavascular lesions. The accuracy of segmenting lung parenchyma is a challenge in lesion segmentation. In RNN segmentation process, the result of parenchyma forms the basis of extracting lesion. RNN is a Learning Algorithm so the complexity of automatic lesion detection is avoided. RNN uses a trained set of data, so the resulting outcome is accurate.

They often have a steep learning curve, a high barrier to entry, or are tightly bound to a specific environment. The upgrade of ALICE in preparation for Run 3 of the LHC requires modifications to existing event displays. We present here a cross-platform, browser-based event display, focused on interactive 2-dimensional projections of collision data from ALICE, specifically focused on the operation of the Transition Radiation Detector (TRD). It is driven by a flexible intermediate JSON data format suitable for web-based displays, and a generic task to convert existing data acquired in previous runs to this format. The relationship between raw and reconstructed data in the TRD is illustrated through a novel pairing of raw and reconstructed data in a unified interactive view. A formal design study methodology was used to guide these choices, and the display was evaluated by both scientists and the public, through a series of case studies.

Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM), an imaging technique sensitive to brain iron, has been used to detect paramagnetic rims of iron-laden active microglia and macrophages in a subset of multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions, known as rim+ lesions, that are consistent with chronic active lesions. Because of the potential impact of rim+ lesions on disease progression and tissue damage, investigating their influence on disability and neurodegeneration is critical to establish the impact of these lesions on the disease course. This study aimed to explore the relationship between chronic active rim+ lesions, identified as having a hyperintense rim on QSM, and both clinical disability and imaging measures of neurodegeneration in patients with MS. The patient cohort was composed of 159 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis patients. The Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) and Brief International Cognitive Assessment for Multiple Sclerosis, which includes both the Symbol Digit Modalities Test and California Verbal Learning Test-II, were used to assess clinical disability. Cortical thickness and thalamic volume were evaluated as imaging measures of neurodegeneration. A total of 4469 MS lesions were identified, of which 171 QSM rim+ (3.8%) lesions were identified among 57 patients (35.8%). In a multivariate regression model, as the overall total lesion burden increased, patients with at least one rim+ lesion on QSM performed worse on both physical disability and cognitive assessments, specifically the Symbol Digit Modalities Test (p = 0.010), California Verbal Learning Test-II (p = 0.030), and EDSS (p = 0.001). In modern phased array radars, digital beamformers are used for beam steering in transmit and receive operations. Most of the conventional radars operate in narrowband applications with phase shift beamformers. The high-resolution imaging radars operating with wide bandwidths suffer from beam squint with phase shift beamformers. In this work, a methodology is proposed to address this effect through suitable corrections in the frequency domain. The focus is given for receive beam formation with squint correction using Linearly Frequency Modulated waveforms. The paper includes the analysis of beam squint with various parameters like bandwidth and steering angle. This is supported with results and associated discussions obtained at different stages of analysis.

Hausmannite manganese oxide (Mn3O4) nanoparticles are synthesized by microwave assisted solvothermal method. The calcination temperature of manganese oxide was determined from TG-DTA analysis.The structural characteristics of as prepared Mn3O4 nanoparticles are analyzed by powder X-ray diffraction. The Fourier transform infrared analysis is used to identify molecular structural changes of the manganese oxide sample. The SEM images revealed the surface morphology of the Mn3O4 nanoparticles and determined the size of the particle to be in the range of 30-40 nm. UV-visible spectrum showed that pure Mn3O4 nanoparticle exhibits maximum absorption at 396 nm. The cyclic voltammetry studies are used to evaluate specific capacitance and electrochemical behaviour of Mn3O4 nanoparticles. The magnetic properties of Mn3O4 nanoparticles are examined by vibrating sample magnetometer.

In this research, the hydrothermal method was used for synthesising cellulose acetate (CA) templated nanorods like CuS fibres using vegetable extract (Brassica oleracea var. italica). These extracts act as a reducing agent in the presence of CA. Surprisingly, when the same reaction was carried out in the absence of CA and broccoli extract, structural morphology disappeared and was found as agglomerated. In the presence of cellulose templated extract mediated CuS has revealed as nanorods like fibres and was confirmed by field emission scanning electron microscope analysis. Their crystallinity property of CuS nanoparticles (NPs) and cellulose templated biosynthesised CuS NPs was analysed and compared using X‐ray diffraction technique. The biological activities of the obtained product were examined for antibacterial assessment against two bacterial strains that include two‐gram negative strains (E.Coli and S. aureus). The nanostructured product found to exhibit excellent antibacterial agent against all the strains. Biosynthesised nanostructure showed its efficacy against A549 lung cancer cells which might attribute to a larger surface to volume ratio of nanorods like fibres. The authors observation suggest that CuS nanorods like fibres can significantly reduce the cell growth with IC(50) value of 31.2 μg/ml.

In this research supercapacitors were fabricated using graphene oxide (GO) as the electrode material. GO was synthesized using natural graphite precursor with varying flake sizes. GO was characterized by High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) and Elemental Analysis. Cyclic voltammetry was carried out at different scan rates to determine the specific capacitance and energy density of the electrode material. An increase in specific capacitance was seen with increase in graphite precursor flake size. A specific capacitance and energy density of 204.22 F.g−1 and 102.11 kJ.kg−1 respectively at scan rate 10 mV.s−1 was obtained for the GO sample synthesised from graphite precursor with an average particle size of 0.45 mm. This sample also had the highest specific capacitance for all scan rates.

In this research high temperature superconductor material (YBCO) was doped with graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) in 0.5 % wt. and 0.7 % wt. concentrations. Resistance versus Temperature (R vs. T) measurements were carried out in field cooling (FC) and zero field cooling (ZFC) conditions. In order to determine the critical transition temperature (Tc) and observe the effect of doping on the weak-links. The increase in Tc was greater in GO doped samples compared to rGO doped samples, this is due to the increase in oxygen content in the doped samples which was confirmed by iodometric titration. The weak-link effect was improved in both GO and rGO doped samples. The reduction of the weak-link effect implies YBCO material with a higher critical current density (Jc).
