- Abstract
Petroleum System is principally composed of seven key elements in sedimentary basins: Source, reservoir, seal, trap, timing, maturation and migration. (4 Elements and 3 Processes of Petroleum System). Petroleum systems analysis indicates that most hydrocarbon fluids found in the Basins which are single-phase dew point fluids (gas?condensates). However, these fluids are expected to drop out oil rims if they migrate into lower pressure. The role of exploration is to provide the information required to exploit the best opportunities presented in the choice of areas, and to manage research operations on the acquired blocks. The Exploration techniques for Petroleum can be separated into two ways; surface geology i.e. Airborne Imagery, Gravimetric method, Magnetic method and Seismic method. and subsurface geology i.e. well logging, Coring and Well testing. Estimating hydrocarbon reserves is a complex process that involves integrating geological and engineering data. Depending on the amount and quality of data available. The static methods indicate to analogy and volumetric calculation which used before the start of production in the reservoir, while dynamic methods involved performance techniques applied after production started in the field
