Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the clinical outcomes, safety, and workflow of patients who underwent endovascular treatment (EVT) alone or in combination with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT), against a control group who only received EVT. Methods: A retrospective analysis from May 2018 to September 2021 was conducted on 50 patients exhibiting acute ischemic stroke symptoms. 35 patients received EVT alone, while 15 received EVT and IVT. The data collected included demographic information, comorbid diseases, symptom onset time, duration from admission to puncture, and clinical outcomes via the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score and modified Rankin scale score at admission and 90 days post-procedure. Results: No significant differences were observed in the 90-day modified Rankin scale scores between the EVT + IVT and EVT alone groups (p > 0.05). NIHSS scores were also similar between the groups (p > 0.05). The EVT + IVT group demonstrated higher intracranial hemorrhage and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage rates than the EVT alone group, but the difference became insignificant after adjusting for age and sex (p 0.05). Conclusion: The combined EVT and IVT treatment's safety outcomes are not inferior, aligning with existing literature.

These recommendations advocate for systematic approaches and emphasize the documentation of critical components, including the search strategy and study selection. A thorough evaluation of methodologies, research quality, and overall evidence strength is essential during the appraisal process. Identifying potential sources of bias and review limitations, such as selective reporting or trial heterogeneity, is facilitated by tools like the Cochrane Risk of Bias and the AMSTAR 2 checklist. The assessment of included studies emphasizes formulating clear research questions and employing appropriate search strategies to construct robust reviews. Relevance and bias reduction are ensured through meticulous selection of inclusion and exclusion criteria. Accurate data synthesis, including appropriate data extraction and analysis, is necessary for drawing reliable conclusions. Meta-analysis, a statistical method for aggregating trial findings, improves the precision of treatment impact estimates. Systematic reviews should consider crucial factors such as addressing biases, disclosing conflicts of interest, and acknowledging review and methodological limitations. This paper aims to enhance the reliability of systematic reviews, ultimately improving decision-making in healthcare, public policy, and other domains. It provides academics, practitioners, and policymakers with a comprehensive understanding of the evaluation process, empowering them to make well-informed decisions based on robust data.

Background and aimsSmoking cigarettes is a major global health problem that affects appetite and weight. The aim of this systematic review was to determine how smoking affected plasma leptin and ghrelin levels.MethodsA comprehensive search of PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Ovid was conducted using a well-established methodology to gather all related publications.ResultsA total of 40 studies were included in the analysis of 11,336 patients. The overall effect showed a with a mean difference (MD) of −1.92[95%CI; −2.63: −1.20] and p = 0.00001. Subgroup analysis by study design revealed significant differences as well, but with high heterogeneity within the subgroups (I2 of 82.3%). Subgroup by sex showed that there was a significant difference in mean difference between the smoking and non-smoking groups for males (MD = −5.75[95% CI; −8.73: −2.77], p = 0.0002) but not for females (MD = −3.04[95% CI; −6.6:0.54], p = 0.10). Healthy, pregnant, diabetic and CVD subgroups found significant differences in the healthy (MD = −1.74[95% CI; −03.13: −0.35], p = 0.01) and diabetic (MD = −7.69[95% CI, −1.64: −0.73], p = 0.03). subgroups, but not in the pregnant or cardiovascular disease subgroups. On the other hand, the meta-analysis found no statistically significant difference in Ghrelin serum concentration between smokers and non-smokers (MD = 0.52[95% CI, −0.60:1.63], p = 0.36) and observed heterogeneity in the studies (I2 = 68%).ConclusionThis study demonstrates a correlation between smoking and serum leptin/ghrelin levels, which explains smoking’s effect on body weight.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/ prospero/display_record.php, identifier (Record ID=326680).

BackgroundDeep brain stimulation (DBS) has shown promise in effectively treating chronic pain. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of DBS in this context.MethodsWe conducted a systematic literature search using PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, following the PRISMA guidelines. A well-constructed search strategy was utilized. Our literature search identified two groups of subjects: one group underwent DBS specifically for chronic pain treatment (DBS-P), while the second group received DBS for other indications (DBS-O), such as Parkinson’s disease or dystonia, with pain perception investigated as a secondary outcome in this population. Meta-analysis was performed using R version 4.2.3 software. Heterogeneity was assessed using the tau^2 and I^2 indices, and Cochran’s Q-test was conducted.ResultsThe analysis included 966 patients in 43 original research studies with chronic pain who underwent DBS (340 for DBS-P and 625 for DBS-O). Subgroup analysis revealed that DBS-P exhibited a significant effect on chronic pain relief, with a standardized mean difference (SMD) of 1.65 and a 95% confidence interval (CI) of [1.31; 2.00]. Significant heterogeneity was observed among the studies, with an I^2 value of 85.8%. However, no significant difference was found between DBS-P and DBS-O subgroups. Subgroup analyses based on study design, age, pain diseases, and brain targets demonstrated varying levels of evidence for the effectiveness of DBS across different subgroups. Additionally, meta-regression analyses showed no significant relationship between age or pain duration and DBS effectiveness for chronic pain.ConclusionThese findings significantly contribute to the expanding body of knowledge regarding the utility of DBS in the management of chronic pain. Summary: Background: Both dabrafenib/trametinib (D/T) and anti-PD-1 monotherapy (PD-1) are approved adjuvant therapies for patients with stage III BRAF V600-mutant melanoma. However, there is still a lack of head-to-head comparative data. We aimed to describe efficacy and toxicity outcomes for these two standard therapies across melanoma centers. Methods: This multicenter, retrospective cohort study was conducted in 15 melanoma centers in Australia, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, and US. We included adult patients with resected stage III BRAF V600-mutant melanoma who received either adjuvant D/T or PD-1 between Jul 2015 and Oct 2022. The primary endpoint was relapse-free survival (RFS). Secondary endpoints included overall survival (OS), recurrence pattern and toxicity. Findings: We included 598 patients with stage III BRAF V600-mutant melanoma who received either adjuvant D/T (n = 393 [66%]) or PD-1 (n = 205 [34%]) post definitive surgery between Jul 2015 and Oct 2022. At a median follow-up of 33 months (IQR 21–43), the median RFS was 51.0 months (95% CI 41.0-not reached [NR]) in the D/T group, significantly longer than PD-1 (44.8 months [95% CI 28.5-NR]) (univariate: HR 0.66, 95% CI 0.50–0.87, P = 0.003; multivariate: HR 0.58, 95% CI 0.39–0.86, P = 0.007), with comparable OS with PD-1 (multivariate, HR 0.90, 95% CI 0.48–1.70, P = 0.75). Similar findings were observed using a restricted-mean-survival-time model. Among those who experienced recurrence, the proportion of distant metastases was higher in the D/T cohort. D/T had a higher incidence of treatment modification due to adverse events (AEs) than PD-1, but fewer persistent AEs. Interpretation: In patients with stage III BRAF V600-mutant melanoma post definitive surgery, D/T yielded better RFS than PD-1, with higher transient but lower persistent toxicity, and comparable OS. D/T seems to provide a better outcome compared with PD-1, but a longer follow-up and ideally a large prospective trial are needed. ObjectiveSubstance use disorder (SUD) is a significant public health issue with a high mortality rate. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has shown promising results in treating SUD in certain cases. In this study, we conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of DBS in the treatment of SUD and reduction of relapse rates.MethodsWe performed a thorough and methodical search of the existing scientific literature, adhering to the PRISMA guidelines, to identify 16 original studies that fulfilled our inclusion criteria. We used the evidence levels recommended by the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine to assess bias. The R version 4.2.3 software was utilized to calculate the mean effect size. We estimated study heterogeneity by employing tau2 and I2 indices and conducting Cochran’s Q test.ResultsThe results showed that DBS treatment resulted in a significant improvement in the clinical SUD scales of patients, with an average improvement of 59.6%. The observed relapse rate was 8%. The meta-analysis estimated a mean effect size of 55.9 [40.4; 71.4]. Heterogeneity analysis showed a large degree of heterogeneity among the included studies. Subgroup and meta-regression analysis based on age and SUD type suggested that DBS may be more effective for patients above 45 years of age, and for alcohol and opioid addiction compared to nicotine addiction.ConclusionThe current literature suggests that DBS has a moderate effect on SUD symptoms. However, the limited number of studies and small sample size indicate that more research is needed to better understand the factors that influence its effectiveness.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is warning about a new outbreak of meningococcal meningitis among gay, bisexual, and other men that have sex with men (MSM) due to multiple cases reported in Florida. Meningococcal meningitis (MM) is a bacterial infection often spread by direct contact or through respiratory droplet dissemination from an infected person to a host. Meningitis can cause a wide range of complications, from thrombosis to cerebral edema or even septic shocks as the bacteria thrive on colonizing the submucosa of blood vessels adjacent to inflamed meninges. The CDC urged MSM to immediately take the MenACWY vaccine. 200 years ago, several outbreaks have been recorded of the disease throughout history, the first being in Africa in the 1840s. The world cannot afford more outbreaks and serious measures should be taken to contend with and contain such potential threats. In this review, we aim to provide an updated investigation of the bacterial infection relevant to the current global health status and a revision on what governments, policymakers, health providers, and individuals should do to prevent the further spread of this fatal disease.

Introduction: Basic Life Support (BLS) is a medical treatment used in life-threatening emergencies until the sufferer can be properly cared for by a team of paramedics or in a hospital. This study aimed to assess the level of knowledge regarding BLS and the contributing factors among the Arab non-medical population. Methods: An online survey-based cross-sectional study was conducted among non-medical populations in nine Arab countries between April 13, 2022, and June 30, 2022. The utilized questionnaire consisted of two parts: part one included socio-demographic characteristics and part two measured knowledge of BLS through an online survey. Results: The research included a total of 4465 participants. 2540 (56.89%) of the participants were knowledgeable about BLS. The mean basic life support knowledge scores of participants who received training were higher than those who had not (20.11 ± 4.20 vs. 16.96 ± 5.27; p< 0.01). According to the nations, Yemen scored the highest, while Morocco had the lowest levels of BLS knowledge (19.86 ± 4.71 vs. 14.15 ± 5.10, respectively; p< 0.01). Additionally, individuals who resided in urban areas scored on average higher than those who did in rural areas (17.86 ± 5.19 vs. 17.13 ± 5.24, p= 0.032) in understanding basic life support. Age, information sources, and previous training with theoretical and practical classes were significant predictors of BLS knowledge. Conclusion: The level of BLS knowledge among non-medical people in Arab nations is moderate but insufficient to handle the urgent crises that we face everywhere. In addition to physicians being required to learn the BLS principles, non-medical people should also be knowledgeable of the necessary actions to take in emergency events.

Key Clinical Message Guillain‐Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare but possible complication that may occur after COVID‐19 vaccination. In this systematic review, we found that GBS presented in patients with an average age of 58. The average time for symptoms to appear was 14.4 days. Health care providers should be aware of this potential complication. Abstract Most instances of Guillain‐Barré syndrome (GBS) are caused by immunological stimulation and are discovered after vaccinations for tetanus toxoid, oral polio, and swine influenza. In this systematic study, we investigated at GBS cases that were reported after receiving the COVID‐19 vaccination. Based on PRISMA guidelines, we searched five databases (PubMed, Google Scholar, Ovid, Web of Science, and Scopus databases) for studies on COVID‐19 vaccination and GBS on August 7, 2021. To conduct our analysis, we divided the GBS variants into two groups, acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy and non‐acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (AIDP and non‐AIDP), and compared the two groups with mEGOS and other clinical presentation In this systematic review, 29 cases were included in 14 studies. Ten cases belonged to the AIDP variant, 17 were non‐AIDP (one case had the MFS variant, one AMAN variant, and 15 cases had the BFP variant), and the two remaining cases were not mentioned. Following COVID‐19 vaccination, GBS cases were, on average, 58 years of age. The average time it took for GBS symptoms to appear was 14.4 days. About 56 percent of the cases (56%) were classified as Brighton Level 1 or 2, which defines the highest level of diagnostic certainty for patients with GBS. This systematic review reports 29 cases of GBS following COVID‐19 vaccination, particularly those following the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine. Further research is needed to assess all COVID‐19 vaccines' side effects, including GBS.

BackgroundGaming addiction is a compulsive mental health condition that can have severe negative consequences on a person’s life. As online gaming has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, studies have shown a heightened risk of mental health issues. This study aims to assess the prevalence of severe phobia and addiction to online gaming among Arab adolescents and identify risk factors associated with these disorders.MethodsThis cross-sectional study was conducted across 11 Arab nations. Participants were recruited using convenience sampling through an online survey distributed on social media platforms in 11 Arab countries. The survey included demographic questions, the Nine-item Internet Gaming Disorder Scale-Short Form (IGDS-SF9) to measure participants’ online gaming addiction, the Social Phobia Scale (SPS), and questions assessing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the prevalence of internet gaming addiction. The data were analyzed using SPSS win statistical package version 26.ResultsOut of 2,458 participants, 2,237 were included in the sample due to non-response and missing data. The average age of the participants was 19.9 ± 4.8 years, and the majority were Egyptian and unmarried. 69% of the participants reported playing more than usual since the COVID-19 pandemic, as they were confined to their homes. Higher social phobia scores were associated with being single, male, and Egyptian. Participants from Egypt and those who felt that the pandemic significantly increased their gaming time had higher scores for online gaming addiction. Several major criteria, such as playing hours per day and beginning gaming at an early age, were associated with a higher level of online gaming addiction with social phobia.ConclusionThe study’s findings suggest that there is a high prevalence of internet gaming addiction among Arab adolescents and young adults who play online games. The results also indicate a significant association between social phobia and several sociodemographic factors, which may inform future interventions and treatments for individuals with gaming addiction and social phobia.

Abstract Background and Aim Pulse field ablation (PFA) has emerged as a safe alternative to other catheter ablation energy sources for patients. Although early results are encouraging, secondary data about outcomes are lacking. Herein, we aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of the novel technique. Methods We searched PubMed, Ovid, Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus databases and several major scientific conferences for studies reporting results regarding PFA. Results Sixteen studies were included, reporting 485 patients with atrial fibrillation who underwent pulsed field operations. Patients averaged 60 years of age. The total duration of the procedure is 94 min. The average Fluoro procedure takes 17 min. Isolation of all pulmonary veins was 100% with a 95% confidence interval (CI) (p > 0.05). Abstract Background Neonatal admission hypothermia (HT) is a frequently encountered problem in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and it has been linked to a higher risk of mortality and morbidity. However, there is a disparity in data in the existing literature regarding the prevalence and outcomes associated with HT in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. This review aimed to provide further summary and analyses of the association between HT and adverse clinical outcomes in VLBW infants. Methods In July 2020, we conducted this review according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. A systematic database search was conducted in MEDLINE (PubMed), Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, World Health Organization Virtual Health Library, Cochrane Library databases, and System for Information on Grey Literature in Europe (SIGLE). We included studies that assessed the prevalence of HT and/or the association between HT and any adverse outcomes in VLBW infants. We calculated the pooled prevalence and Odds Ratio (OR) estimates with the corresponding 95% Confidence Interval (CI) using the Comprehensive meta-analysis software version 3.3 (Biostat, Engle-wood, NJ, USA; http://www.Meta-Analysis.com ). Results Eighteen studies that fulfilled the eligibility criteria were meta-analyzed. The pooled prevalence of HT among VLBW infants was 48.3% (95% CI, 42.0–54.7%). HT in VLBW infants was significantly associated with mortality (OR = 1.89; 1.72–2.09), intra-ventricular hemorrhage (OR = 1.86; 1.09–3.14), bronchopulmonary dysplasia (OR = 1.28; 1.16–1.40), neonatal sepsis (OR = 1.47; 1.09–2.49), and retinopathy of prematurity (OR = 1.45; 1.28–1.72). Conclusion Neonatal HT rate is high in VLBW infants and it is a risk factor for mortality and morbidity in VLBW infants. This review provides a comprehensive view of the prevalence and outcomes of HT in VLBW infants.

Abstract Multiple sclerosis is a disease that affects the central nervous system, resulting in various symptoms such as vision, physical activity, and stability. Central positional vertigo as initial multiple sclerosis symptoms are a rare case. It increases the attention of doctors to follow accurate measurements to diagnose multi sclerosis regarding the initial symptoms.

Abstract Background and Aim Some studies reported a positive link between familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) and epicardial adipose tissue. Our meta‐analysis aimed to evaluate whether there is a significant association between FMF and increased epicardial adipose tissue thickness. Methods We searched the following databases: PUBMED, WOS, OVID, SCOPUS, and EMBASE. Inclusion criteria were any original articles that reported epicardial adipose tissue in FMF patients with no age restriction, excluding reviews, case reports, editorials, animal studies, and non‐English studies. Thirty eligible studies were screened full text but only five studies were suitable. We used RevMan software (5.4) for the meta‐analysis. Results The total number of patients included in the meta‐analysis in the FMF patients group is 256 (mean age = 24.3), and the total number in the control group is 188 (mean age = 24.98). The pooled analysis between FMF patients and controls was [mean difference = 0.82 (95% CI = 0.25–1.39), p‐value = 0.005]. We observed heterogeneity that was not solved by random effects (p > 0.00001). We performed leave one out test by removing the Kozan et al. study, and the heterogeneity was solved (p = 0.07), and the results were (MD = 0.98, 95% CI = 0.52–1.43, p‐value

This study aims to recognize the effectiveness of a cognitive counseling program in decreasing the cognitive distortions among Al-Quds Open University students, through a sample of 30 students (males and females), who record high degrees of cognitive distortions, divides equally between experimental and control groups. The counseling program is applied to the experimental group, in 12 sessions, one session weekly, each for 90 minutes. The study results show statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-measurement on the cognitive distortions, in favor of the experimental group. Differences between the pre and post-measurement in the experimental group are also statistically significant, in favor of the post-measurement. Additionally, there are no statistical differences between the post and long term measurements. The results show that the impact of the counseling program is 0.871 for the post-measurement of cognitive distortions. Based on the results, the study recommends further studies on other societies, based on cognitive theory and aimed at reducing cognitive distortions.

Background Global surgery has recently gained prominence as an academic discipline within global health. Authorship inequity has been a consistent feature of global health publications, with over-representation of authors from high-income countries (HICs), and disenfranchisement of researchers from low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs). In this study, we investigated authorship demographics within recently published global surgery literature.Methods We performed a systematic analysis of author characteristics, including gender, seniority and institutional affiliation, for global surgery studies published between 2016 and 2020 and indexed in the PubMed database. We compared the distribution of author gender and seniority across studies related to different topics; between authors affiliated with HICs and LMICs; and across studies with different authorship networks.Results 1240 articles were included for analysis. Most authors were male (60%), affiliated only with HICs (51%) and of high seniority (55% were fully qualified specialist or generalist clinicians, Principal Investigators, or in senior leadership or management roles). The proportion of male authors increased with increasing seniority for last and middle authors. Studies related to Obstetrics and Gynaecology had similar numbers of male and female authors, whereas there were more male authors in studies related to surgery (69% male) and Anaesthesia and Critical care (65% male). Compared with HIC authors, LMIC authors had a lower proportion of female authors at every seniority grade. This gender gap among LMIC middle authors was reduced in studies where all authors were affiliated only with LMICs.Conclusion Authorship disparities are evident within global surgery academia. Remedial actions to address the lack of authorship opportunities for LMIC authors and female authors are required.

Background: Diplopia often follows orbital floor fractures, yet comprehensive, long-term outcome-focused clinical audit data are lacking, especially in countries like Pakistan where diplopia and its treatment after orbital floor fractures are uncommon. This study aimed to assess the correction of diplopia following surgical repair of orbital floor fractures using titanium mesh. Methodology: A retrospective clinical audit was conducted at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Mayo Hospital, Lahore, from January 2015 to December 2019. Consecutive patient records admitted for orbital fracture correction were analyzed. A total of 202 patients of both genders with diplopia who underwent orbital floor reconstruction using titanium mesh were included. Results: Among the 202 patients meeting inclusion criteria, the mean age was 32.60 years (+/- 12.44 SD). Of these, 73.3% (n=148) were male, and 26.7% (n=54) were female. Persistent diplopia was experienced by 11.6% (n=18) of operated cases. Post-operative complications included ectropion/entropion (3.0%, n=6), numbness (2.5%, n=5), and infection (4.5%, n=9). Conclusion: Titanium mesh, a readily accessible synthetic material, demonstrates optimal efficacy in correcting post-traumatic enophthalmos and can be utilized to reconstruct orbital floor defects in orbito-zygomatic complicated fractures. These findings are expected to lay a foundation for future research, enhancing patient care and outcomes in maxillofacial trauma in Pakistan and beyond. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and psoriasis are chronic inflammatory immune-mediated diseases. The interleukin-23- (IL23-) T helper (Th)17 pathway has been implicated in their pathogenesis, with multiple biologic therapies targeting this pathway. IL-17, the main proinflammatory cytokine produced by (TH)17, has been targeted by antibodies and IL-17 receptor blockers with favorable outcomes in treating psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. However, their role in IBD is unpredictable as studies reported worsening of IBD with agents targeting IL-17 and rare case reports with new-onset IBD. We present a case of Crohn's-like severe terminal ileitis and worsening diverticulitis complicated by intestinal perforation requiring total parenteral nutrition shortly after being started on secukinumab.

Automatic detection of low-magnitude earthquakes has become an increasingly important research topic in recent years due to a sharp increase in induced seismicity around the globe. The detection of low-magnitude seismic events is essential for microseismic monitoring of hydraulic fracturing, carbon capture and storage, and geothermal operations for hazard detection and mitigation. Moreover, the detection of micro-earthquakes is crucial to understanding the underlying mechanisms of larger earthquakes. Various algorithms, including deep learning methods, have been proposed over the years to detect such low-magnitude events. However, there is still a need for improving the robustness of these methods in discriminating between local sources of noise and weak seismic events. In this study, we propose a convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect seismic events from shallow borehole stations in Groningen, the Netherlands. We train a CNN model to detect low-magnitude earthquakes, harnessing the multi-level sensor configuration of the G-network in Groningen. Each G-network station consists of four geophones at depths of 50, 100, 150, and 200 m. Unlike prior deep learning approaches that use 3-component seismic records only at a single sensor level, we use records from the entire borehole as one training example. This allows us to train the CNN model using moveout patterns of the energy traveling across the borehole sensors to discriminate between events originating in the subsurface and local noise arriving from the surface. We compare the prediction accuracy of our trained CNN model to that of the STA/LTA and template matching algorithms on a two-month continuous record. We demonstrate that the CNN model shows significantly better performance than STA/LTA and template matching in detecting new events missing from the catalog and minimizing false detections. Moreover, we find that using the moveout feature allows us to effectively train our CNN model using only a fraction of the data that would be needed otherwise, saving plenty of manual labor in preparing training labels. The proposed approach can be easily applied to other microseismic monitoring networks with multi-level sensors.

Background: Regorafenib is a multi-kinase inhibitor approved for treatment of refractory advanced colorectal cancer. It was found in the clinical trials to have a modest benefit and significant toxicity. Our aim was to assess the outcome in our local clinic practice. Patients and methods: Records of patients with confirmed colorectal cancer treated with regorafenib were reviewed. Clinical, pathological, and molecular data were collected. Efficacy and factors of possible prognostic significance were analyzed. Results: A total of 78 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer were treated with regorafenib from February 2014 to February 2016 in 4 different institutions (median age: 50.5 years; male: 40 [51.3%]; KRAS mutant: 41 [52%]; right colonic primary: 18 [23%]). A total of 52 patients (66.7%) had Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Performance Status of 0 to 1, whereas in 25 patients (32.1%) it was >1. In total, 58 patients (74%) had dose reduction. No patient achieved objective response, 15 patients (19%) achieved stable disease, and 56 patients (72%) had progressive disease. With a median follow-up of 6.5 months, the median progression-free survival was 2.8 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 2.5-3.3) and overall survival was 8.0 months (95% CI, 6.2-9.7). Only performance status of ⩽1 had a statistically significant impact on progression-free survival and overall survival in both univariate and multivariate analyses. Conclusions: Regorafenib in our clinical practice has equal efficacy to reported data from pivotal registration trials. Our data suggest that performance status is the most important prognostic factor in patients treated with regorafenib, suggesting a careful selection of patients.
