This literature deals with the conflicts experienced by the indigenous people from the Tapuya Kariri tribe, who live in São Benedito, Ceará, and whose tribe has been suffering to sustain its lifestyle and, consequently, the bond among the people. The relevant factors that inspired the development of this paper are the need for discussing the challenges faced by the Tapuya Kariri people as well as listing the involved parts in fights for lands, which are holy in their majority. Thus, the emphasis is on the principal issues involving the indigenous people and those with whom they relate in places the consider to be sacred, on the complexity involving these social interactions and on the confrontation resulting from the struggle to sustain the lifestyle and uniqueness of the abovementioned people.

When the Movimento de Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra do Brasil (Movement of Landless Rural Workers’ of Brazil—MST) occupies land and forms autonomous agricultural communities, it aspires to achieve the supremacy of labor over capital and to embody socialist values. However, a policy of organizing production cooperatives on its settlements in the early 1990s was unsuccessful, principally because of a failure fully to respect traditional forms of work and sociability. However, the MST learned from its early mistakes and has since developed elaborate forms of informal and formal cooperation on land that is essentially the common property of a democratic settlement association. This work wants to do a geographic and historic rescue of the twenty years of the Moviment of the Landless Rural Workers in Ceara (MST-CE), from 1989 to 2009. During this years, there were several forms of Þ ght for the spacialization and the territorialization of MST have been done in Ceara those years, through: the cons icts, the occupation of the lands, the public buildings and the avenues; the marches, the presence of militants in the federal and state settlements of several programs of agrarian reform. This text is structured in four parts. The Þ rst, Introduction, we build a little line of the time of the agrarian Þ ghts from the indians to the Þ rst occupation of the land realized by the Moviment. The second, The actions of MST-Ceara, we describe their principal activities: hiking, marches, occupation of farms and public buildings in the state. The third, Territorialization of MST in Ceara, we analyze the ways for become present, recognized and respect in Ceara. And for last, The Þ nal considerations.

Este trabajo pretende hacer un rescate geográfi co e histórico de los veinte años del "Movimiento de los Trabajadores Rurales Sin Tierra" en Ceará (MST- CE), 1989 a 2009. Durante esos años, varias fueron las formas de luchas para que la espacialización y la territorialización del MST que sucedieron en Ceará. Algunas de esas formas de luchas fueron: los confl ictos; las ocupaciones de tierras, de los edifi cios públicos y de las avenidas; las marchas, la presencia de los militantes, en los asentamientos federal y estaduales, de los varios programas de reforma agraria. Para abordar esas marchas del MST-Ceará, este texto está estructurado en 4 partes. En la primera, la "Introducción", construimos una pequeña línea del tiempo de las luchas agrarias desde las indígenas hasta la primera ocupación de tierras realizada por el Movimiento. En la segunda, "Las acciones del MST-Ceará", describimos sus principales actividades tales como: caminadas, marchas, ocupaciones de inmuebles y edifi cios públicos en el Estado. En la tercera, "Territorialización del MST en Ceará", analizamos los caminos para tornarse presente, reconocido y respetado en Ceará.
